Tsubaki - Honor In Defeat
[Toggle Names]Description: Moments after her defeat by Ragna The Bloodedge, Tsubaki Yayoi seeks help, only for Captain Hazama to reveal his presence, and judge wether or not she'll be useful to keep around.
[TSUBAKI]
The world was fading in and out. Sirens in the night as Tsubaki tried to drag herself out of the road where she lay. There was a glow around her body as the Izayoi faded into storage. Turning herself she grit her teeth and leaned against a wall as the wail of distant sirens continued to grow louder. She had been foolish...yet she had her orders. SHe had succeeded in her mission, if not apprehending a notorious criminal. Blue eyes gazing up at the nigh sky, would she be alive by the time anyone got here? She had been foolish to call Ragna out without letting anyone know where she was.
"Jin...I wasn't strong enough to defeat him...I'm sorry." She shuddered at the pain lancing through her. What mroe could she have done? Should she have brought Makoto or Clio with her?
[TERUMI]
Sirens; those are no good. The Librarium is not supposed to be fighting in Japan's soil right now with the Gear conflict coming to a head, after all. Having been watching from afar the entire time, in short order a sleek black figure descends, landing with hands in his pocket near Tsubaki. She was pushed well past her limits, just as he knew. She had no hope of overcoming Ragna... this was a suicide mission. But the intent was something else entirely. Within her is a unique power, a great strength... that can kill even the unkillable. Destroy even certain 'shitty vampires'. Although not the last of the Anti-Observer weapons, it is one of the strongest. And most controllable. "First Lieutenant. Congratulations. You succeeded in your mission." comes the familiar, if oddly distant, voice of Hazama. "You activated the device like I instructed. Although you failed to bring down Ragna the Bloodedge, you forced him to go all-out. That battle data will be vital for future conflicts." He doesn't seem concerned with her potential 'lie in the alley and die' situation, just yet...
[TSUBAKI]
A shudder, sensing someone else arriving, Tsubaki braced herself. Was it an attack? Was it an ally? Her body tensed, pained, before there's that voice. "C-Captain Hazama." she relaxed. How long had he been there? Had he seen the battle? At the least he had acknowledged her success in accomplishing the mission. "It... I... It's my honor to s-serve." she rasped. Something was still bleeding. Was it the scythe wound across her chest? One hand trembled as it lifted, "Extraction? Need medical..." it was so hard to focus. Even with the healing incantation she had used in the fight, without proper treatment she wasn't going to make it.
[TERUMI]
"Shh, shh." Hazama leans down, crouching deeply beside Tsubaki's head. The sirens continue to whirl, but are still a couple minutes out. Ambulences are unlikely to be immediately in tow. It might be ten or fifteen minutes before she recieves proper medical treatment. "What do you feel right now?" It's a strange question, to say the least. She's dying, after all. Still, he reaches out a half-gloved hand to grip Tsubaki's own, at least giving her something more tangible to anchor with. But if she hazily looked into the face above her... the compassion seems somehow empty. Distant. A mask someone is supposed to wear, but somehow seeming... empty. Perhaps she's merely so hazy...
[TSUBAKI]
Tsubaki felt herself tense again. She's vaguely aware of her encroaching mortality here. But that's...a strange question. The last of the Yayoi family bleeding out in an alley as a bloody executioner of traitors and undesirables. One would think she would want her honor back. And perhaps in some way she does. But there is one thing she has always wanted more. Something that speaks to her own personal honor. Her hand weakly grips Hazama's. "A-afraid...I wasn't...I wasn't able to save J-Jin. I w-wanted to kill Ragna the Bloodedge for J-Jin." There it was, it's a petty thing perhaps. She still had not even seen Jin since arriving, since graduation. But it's there, that spark of hope that she can do something to free Jin even a little from some darkness he carried in regards to the Grim Reaper.
[TERUMI]
"But you can." Hazama states, voice coming in a whisper as he leans down. "Did you not feel it within yourself in that fight? The drive of your heart. The Izayoi..." His hand shifts to rest atop the grimoire of the malleable weapon. "You know how it works. In your time of greatest need, at the utmost peril, a true wielder of the armament will unlock it's true power. Tell me." He leans closer, whispering into Tsubaki's ear. "Did you feel it?" Unseen, he flicks out his butterfly knife, whirling it out behind her head. The true test is now. He knows that Tsubaki's clan is losing it's blood. If the First Lieutenant cannot work as a host... then he will take the weapon from her now. There must be plenty of ways Relius can adjust it, if not nearly as strong and pure as a proper bearer...
[TSUBAKI]
A shudder, Tsubaki's blue eyes staring, something...Something had been there. Even before her vision had failed for those few moments. Izayoi had at least tried to make something known to her. To try and keep it's wielder on her feet even in that last assault. Her body trembled. "There..there was something. For a moment. But...Izayoi, if I fully...it will take my light. It almost did." Her hand squeezed at Hazama's. "But I could feel it. A spear...of light." poetic thought, a spear of light to counter the darkness she stood against. Even if it would potentially leave her in darkness forever to call on that very weapon of light.
[TERUMI]
As quickly as it was there, the weapon is dismissed. "I see. Do not worry. I'm sure when the time is right, you will make that decision yourself. It is not my place... to request you to increase significantly in battle power at risk to yourself..." There's an allusion there in his tone, that Tsubaki is purposefully limiting her strength, as he finally shifts to pluck her up. The police are only a couple blocks away as he strides to the end, before moving like lightning. In a heartbeat he stands a few blocks away, calling in a team of medical professionals. The location is given, along with the need for it to be quite clandestine. Tsubaki is set down to lean against the wall, but the movement made her wounds much worse. "Oh...? You might not survive until help arrives. ...Do you want to survive, First Lieutenant? To fight again for Jin? For the Imperator? It is worthless to balk at power... if you would have died anyway..."
[TSUBAKI]
The words, for their part sting, had she been holding back? Purposefully? Maybe...but then, if she truly allowed Izayoi it's free reign it could burn away more than just her vision. If she was to serve the Imperator, to help Jin then... Her whole body was wracked with pain as Hazama lifted her. A cry of pain cutting off her thoughts. She's barely cognizant of the speed that Hazama carries her from the place before she's set down against a wall once more. Her body weak, sinking down. THe blood was soaking into the uniform. What manner of question was that? Tsubaki Yayoi would show she did not wish to surrender. A hand moving, to try and pull herself up, before she coughed, hacking. There was no blood in that cough, but it was obvious now she was in a tenuous place. "Yes...Yes I want to survive. I want to fight f-for Jin. F-for the Imperator." that hand on the wall balls into a fist, even as her crumpled body can't hold itself up. "I will g-give everything to fight."
[TERUMI]
"I see. Then we will help you. The Yayoi family has accepted this role of a martyr for too long. With our resources, it should be possible to utilize the Izayoi... and not lose your life in the bargain." Hazama states, before leaning forward. "This might hurt..." he declares, before suddenly both of his knuckles slam together, intent to impact Tsubaki's temples. It'd likely cause her to black out immediately, something required for the next step. "Hmmhmm. She's shaping up nicely. Bit by bit, the Mind Eater continues to strengthen... but if she cannot wield the weapon, there's little point in it. His hat is plucked off, before green energy surges around him, hair crackling upright once more. Golden eyes slit open, Terumi now grinning down at the hapless girl. "Healing magic... hardly my forte. But I can keep you from dying..." Fel sigils and formulae are traced before him, before Terumi thrusts out his palm, sending a shock of regeneration through Tsubaki. Her wounds would knit roughly together, enough to stop the bleeding, but likely risking some scars where the damage was greatest. A moment later and his hat returns, Hazama moving to stand up and wait for the NOL specialists to arrive and perform more thorough treatment. She'll spend a few days accompanying Noel in the medical ward, now... but the first step in awakening the Izayoi has been planted. Now... what sort of horrible event might force her to make that last, absolute choice?
[TSUBAKI]
That is a surprising thing to her, "Th-thank you, Captain...Hazama." that he has so succinctly spoken of the Yayoi family's fate is...a relief. To think someone would offer such assistance. "Hurt? V-very well." Mentally she's bracing herself before there's the sudden strike into her temples. There's a gurgled cry, before Tsubaki is crumpled to the ground once more. The world snapping into darkness. She's unaware of what game she has unwittingly lent herself to. But it is for the most noblest of pursuits is it not? Love? Justice? A shame such things can so easilly be turned against the purest hearts. But for now it seems Tsubaki Yayoi will live another day.
