Yun - #ForTheNoodles Challenge
[Toggle Names]Description: Here Comes A Noodle Challenger! Hayley vs Yun! FIGHT!
[HAYLEY]
Now that the crisis has passed, Hayley Bretherton has made her way to Southtown. Considering her beating by Tremor not too long ago, she's recovered quite well...physically. Mentally she's still as beaten down as she was when Tremor trashed her. Perhaps more so, having had time to languish in her failure.
But for the moment she's put that aside. Now that she's in Southtown--a hotbed for skilled fighters--she needs a bite to eat. It was a long flight, and airline peanuts did not a meal make. This place is also a bit notorious for some of the clientele it attracts, so perhaps Hayley is hoping that maybe, just maybe, she'll make the connections she needs to start getting back on track with her training.
For the moment, however, she's standing at the entrance and looking for a table. She's dressed today in a blue tracksuit with the jacket open. Underneath is a red, nondescript t-shirt. She brushes her hair back as she surveys the tables for an open one and looks for a sign as to whether she should seat herself. Definitely a tourist, even if Hayley's half-Chinese heritage doesn't make her look entirely out of place in this neighborhood.
[YUN]
"Comin' through!"
The door from the kitchen is knocked open and YUN LEE explodes from the back, sneakers balanced on his skateboard as he whips past another (and more boring) waiter that's carrying some dishes. They almost shatter on the floor but luck is on everyone's side there. Nothing to clean up!
Yun's carrying a tray of hot soups and noodles at the moment, somehow has it balanced on his palm as he skates past a couple of tables and right past Hayley, though he manages to shout, "Be right there!" at her as he zips past.
Yun probably does this way too much because he's dropping off soups and noodles with every change in direction of his skateboard. He's wheeling his way around the last table, tossing the empty tray off to the side and then skidding to a halt near the entrance with a smile and too much style. "Wassup! Welcome to Genhanten! Table for one?" Yun flashes a grin immediately. "... unless you're waitin' on somebody nowhere near as fly as me to meet you here." Oh brother. This is going to be one of those waiters.
[HAYLEY]
Hayley's sneakers squeak as shifts her footing and puts up her guard. The kitchen door exploding open makes her jump, but in just a moment she sees it's a waiter. She eases back into a neutral stance, her face reddening slowly.
But even so, she can't help but watch Yun skateboard around and drop dishes off at tables with what's clearly practice. When he skates up to a stop in front of her, she brushes he hair back and laughs a little. "Oh, no, just one," she says, down slightly. "Do you always skateboard to your tables?" she asks, genuinely curious. "It seems like that'd take a lot of practice."
[YUN]
"Pfft. My restaurant, my rules." Yun says with a smirk on his face. Of course, he's leaving out the part where it actually belongs to his mentor Gen but since Gen's not here right now, he's pretty sure that he can claim this as much as he wants. Well, he would anyway. That's just part of his annoying charm.
"Follow me." Yun tosses a wink as he snatches up a menu and skates off in the direction of the smaller tables and somehow he even manages to pull the chair out while balancing on those four wheels. Skateboarding is his life so he just makes it work
"I'm Yun, by the way. The coolest waiter you'll ever have." Yun tosses the menu on the table and it opens right up to the Noodle Section. And the insert flyer all about free noodles. Which, thankfully, Yun doesn't even notice. He's too busy flirting.
"Go ahead and check out the menu. We got the best noodles in town and you already know how hot the service is." Another wink happens because Yun. "Take your time and let me know when you're ready to order, yeah?"
[HAYLEY]
"Oh, wow, your restaurant?" Hayley seems surprised by the claim. As a newcomer to the area, she's equally unaware of the fact Gen is really in charge. Maybe Yun just looks younger than he is...
Hayley blushes again. "Sure!' she says, following along the skateboard. "Um, Hayley," she answers back. "And you're certainly doing the part well right now, if you ask me." She slides into the booth, flipping open the menu.
She looks over it for a few moments, but then the flyer drops out. She looks it over. Taking a good look at it, then glancing at Yun. She bites her lip. "Oh, yeah! I'll let you know."
[YUN]
Yun is in a skate-storm of awesome at the moment. He's zipping from table to table, getting on the nerves of other workers but generally not making anything bad happen. He does even stop for a selfie or two with a table of regulars that really dig his skater boy antics when it comes to their food delivery.
In and out of the kitchen, Yun's got his own bowl of noodles and is rocking back and forth on his board, chopsticking and slurping them up whilst keeping an eye and a smile in Hayley's direction. Another chopsticks full of noodles and he's tossing his bowl aside and pushing off to coast in her direction. He doesn't want to keep a new customer waiting!
"You look like you could use me." Yun quips with a smile and a healthy dose of innuendo. "Is the menu confusing? Do you need an English copy?" Yun's already looking back over his shoulder at the pile of menus near the front, immediately worried about whether or not they even still carry those.
[HAYLEY]
"Oh, no no, my Cantonese is fine," Hayley says with a warm smile. "My mom's from there, actually. She's in Hong Kong right now." The Aussie brushes her hair back again, looking at Yun. She quickly looks away. "Um, actually I was kind of curious about the special here?" she holds up the flyer, waving it a bit. "Is this actually a thing?"
[YUN]
Yun's jovial features falter for just a moment as he seems to recognize that flyer. He reaches out to take it and spins it around. "... Yes." He turns and looks off towards the kitchen, holding up the flyer so that whomever's looking will know that it has been activated.
When Yun turns back to Hayley, he's wearing a grin. "I hope you realize that just because you're cute, I'm not gonna' take it easy on ya'!" Yun pushes back on his board, holding the flyer up high for everyone to see. This sends some of the workers and even some of the patrons into moving their tables and making lots more room for battles to happen in the center of the restaurant. It's almost like they form a Ring of Noodles or something. They are, obviously, used to this kind of thing happening. Especially, when Yun's skating all around.
For some reason, he just makes people want to punch him. Even without the free noodles incentive!
[HAYLEY]
"Oh, um," Hayley starts to interject, to say something else, but then everyone's moving to form a ring. The whole restaurant knows she's doing the challenge now; she can't back down. Inwardly, her mind is racing. Is she going to get trashed again like she did by Tremor? Is this another disaster waiting to happen? Hayley swallows. Yun seems nice enough, but if he already owns a whole restaurant...
"Right! No hard feelings though?" Hayley asks with a sheepish smile. She tugs at her pants leg, straightening it out. She slides into a defensive stance like a boxer, holding her fists up close to guard her face. "I -- I just need the practice," she says more confidently. "And I'll totally pay if I lose!"
[YUN]
"When, you lose. When." Yun's skating idly around in a circle, as if he's paying more attention to the crowd than he is his potential opponent. After all, he does this kind of thing all the time. He's definitely not about to lose on his own home turf. Well, one of his home turfs. There's another turf out there on the Crowded Streets that has his theme song playing and everything but this is a close second!
"I mean, come on, does this face look like its ever been hit?" He skates up close to Hayley and makes teasing kissy faces at her, just to add to his annoyance factor. Of course, he should probably pay closer attention to the fact that she's in a stance which has kickstarted the match for free noodles!

Hayley bites her lip. Though she doesn't repeat it, "when" makes her think. Is this going to be another battle she can't manage? Was Tremor right and her training thus far is garbage? She chases that thought away and take a moment to look Yun over and try to read his stance. He's thin and nimble, but what's his secret? Agility? Speed? Precision?
"I'm ready when you are," Hayley says, still sizing Yun up. "I'm going to give it my best shot."
COMBATSYS: Hayley focuses on her next action.

Yun rolls along on the skateboard with the quickness of someone just casually skating down the street. He doesn't even look like he's about to fight. Which could be one of his problems. He doesn't seem to be as serious as he maybe should be. He's too busy being the cocky and overconfident twin. Not that anybody really knows he's a twin right now.
Yang's probably back in the kitchen.
"Funny. That's what all the other losers said." Yun springs to life in a quick motion, leaping off the board and spinning in the air, swinging out a leg and aiming to catch Hayley off guard with an opening aerial assault of spin-kicking proportions!
COMBATSYS: Hayley blocks Yun's Medium Kick.

Hayley watches Yun carefully. She bounces on her heels, keeping her footing mobile and ready if she needs to move. Yun leaps in with the spin-kick, and Hayley tightens her guard. She throws her shoulder and forearm against the blow, colliding with Yun's leg to meet it midway and soften the blow.
----------------
"You play at fighting. Wasting your time with dancing!" Tremor shouts out his frustration at Hayley. She feels so weak. So inexperienced.
----------------
Hayley tightens her fist and throws a short, quick punch at Yun's extended leg, her fist aimed for the knee. It's guarded and withdrawn quickly, the Aussie aiming not to overextend herself too much.
"Did they?" Hayley says, suddenly more nervous. Focus, she tells herself, how many strong opponents did you face before him? None went that badly, did they? ...did they?
COMBATSYS: Yun full-parries Hayley's Quick Punch!!

Yun's skateboard rolls off to the side, as it always does, after he's finished using it as a distraction. He takes a quick note of where it is for later, just in case he needs it. But for the moment, he's balancing himself on his heels, after smacking that leg into the solidity of Hayley's guard. He even has to take a step back in to re-center himself, focusing in on exactly what's going down at this moment. And to think up his latest quip.
"Of course! They weren't ready for the sheer epicness that is the White Dragon of the Wind and Clouds!"
Yun grins as he spots that fist coming for his leg, spins inward to get his knee out of the way and swipes righter than Tinder to knock her fist to the side with a smirk, "Neither are you, I'd say!"
Yun twirls his hands through the air with a quickness that he probably shouldn't have yet but he's been raring to fight for a long time and seems to just be trying to throw Hayley off her guard. He takes a step towards her and extends both of his hands towards her, palms open for a powerful palm strike at her chest!
COMBATSYS: Yun successfully hits Hayley with Kobokushi EX.

[HAYLEY]
There's a grimace on Hayley's face when the punch is parried. The Aussie tries to backstep away as her fist cuts through the air, but the creak of her step away comes slowly than the tap of Yun's step forward. There's not enough time for her to guard, but she isn't without options. She focuses, tensing her body in response to the coming pain.
----------------
Hayley remembers training in Gojuryu for her father's show. Sensei Souta had everyone take tense, well-balanced stances. He would walk from student to student with a bamboo stick, smacking at their legs and side to test their guard. Hayley clearly remembers the first time she joined in on that drill.
WHAP. The bamboo strikes her calf. Hayley's leg gives out immediately, and she falls flat on her face like a sack of potatos. The sensei raises an eyebrow, but Hayley--probably nine or ten at the time--stands up and resumes the posture.
"The posture is all wrong," Sensei Souta says, "You must focus her chi. Feel your strength resonate from your core. Deep breaths, wide stance. Focus."
He strikes her a second time and she winces and exhales sharply, but quickly breathes in again. Her posture straightens.
"Better," Sensei Souta says with a nod. "Again."
----------------
Hayley clenches her fists. Her sneakers squeak as she spreads her feet, bracing for impact. She puffs out her chest, ready to blow head-on and then counter attack. Instead, the double palm smashes into her chest and blows her over onto the floor. She tumbles, rolling around before getting onto her knees and back to her feet.
"Crikey, so fast," Hayley mutters. "Did you sensei give you that title, Yun?" she asks, rubbing her ribs. But then she stands up on her toes, chi gathering around her. She pivots into a spin, the chi concentrating like a cyclone around her. She starts to spin.
----------------
"Useless dancing," she hears Tremor say again.
----------------
Hayley grits her teeth and spins once more, flinging a boomerang like gust of wind chi toward Yun!
COMBATSYS: Hayley successfully hits Yun with Emu Shoot.

[YUN]
Yun Lee is in the middle of playing to the crowd, as he always is, since this is his home turf and he's been whooping some serious bootay. In fact, he's even gone so far as to turn his back on his opponent, since his palm strike went off without a freaking hitch. "How did I get this good, huh?" It's a question that might be even aimed at his own self, considering that he's just smiling and waving at those that have formed the Ring around him and his opponent.
"Huh?" Yun's attention it brought back to Hayley when that question is tossed in his direction. "Yeah. Hey, how'd you know?" The question may not have the opportunity to be answered since he's completely caught off guard by the explosion of wind that's sent in his direction. He catches it dead in the chest, which picks him up and sends him spinning through the air to slam down into the floor, cracking the wood beneath him. Annoyed and frustrated groaning mark his rise back to his feet. "Okay, okay. You got that one. Not bad."
Yun just grins and straightens up his stance, looking off in Hayley's direction with a slightly impressed smirk. "Let's see what else you got up those sleeves, huh?" And there's another one of those winks.
COMBATSYS: Yun pulls his cap down over his eyes.

[HAYLEY]
Hayley shifts, dropping back onto the flats of her shoes after briefly standing on her toes to spin and throw the wind projectile a moment ago. She smiles, just a little, at the clean blow.
"Oh? I just kind of figured it was the kinda name someone gets from their teacher when he's graduated, you know, like a 'I've taught you all that I know, remember it well' -- you know! That sort of thing," It's not entirely clear if Hayley believes this from experience or from watching too many movies.
Hayley hops in place, knocking her fists together. She moves forward toward Yun, springing toward him before landing short. She closes the gap and then turns, throwing forward a boxing style punch toward his stomach.
COMBATSYS: Yun dodges Hayley's Medium Punch.

"I think it's more of a family name. I'm Wind and Clouds, my brother's uh... well, not that. Whatever. I didn't pay much attention to his nickname! Blue Dragon of the Water Fountain? Maybe?"
Yun's wearing a look of confusion as he runs his mouth again. It seems to be a very difficult task for the White Dragon to actually be quiet. Maybe his mouth is what's keeping him going. Or keeping Hayley distracted. Either way, Yun's more than happy to keep on, quippin' on.
After another motion for Hayley to bring it, coupled with the pulling down of his cap over his eyes, Yun's already moving to get out of the way of the incoming punch that's headed in his direction. He back-pedals and spins away, putting some space between himself and Hayley. With a smirk, he raises a hand and wags a finger from side to side. "Ah-ah. Not that easy, girl." He then reaches out to grab her and pull himself in, lifting up to plant his feet dead center into her chest and kick off into a somersault to give himself even more space... and to maybe even wobble his opponent a bit more.
Hey, what good is fighting for free noodles if he can't show-off a little bit, right?
COMBATSYS: Yun successfully hits Hayley with Ento Shugeki.

[HAYLEY]
"Oh," Hayley says, "is your brother as good as you are?" Hayley asks, surprised. She doesn't seem to parse that the motor-mouth is a major issue. Maybe her mind elsewhere. Maybe it is distracting her, and even she doesn't realize it.
Hayley's fist snaps into open air. She frowns again. Maybe that was a fluke earlier. Everyone gets lucky sometimes. She doesn't have time to dwell on it as Yun plants both feet against her chest as she tries to block. Her forearm guard is too slow, and the somersault bowls her over as Yun gets some distance once more. Hayley lands with a crash against the wood floor.
"Ugh," she grumbles, wiping spit off her mouth and climbing back onto her feet. She shakes her head, trying to get it clear, then drops back into her fighting stance. Yun barely looks like he's breaking a sweat. This was a bad idea.
"So what's your style?" Hayley asks, trying to take her mind off of it for just a moment.
----------------
Tremor's scoldings ring in her ears: "You are no fighter, you are a victim of poor teachers. Weaklings who have betrayed your growth. You can move wind, and you use your elemental pathetically."
----------------
She spreads her footing again, pushing up onto the balls of her feet and then launching into another spin. This time she accelerates, but then she throws a wide-swinging punch aimed at putting her in low and close.
COMBATSYS: Yun instinctively dodges Hayley's Devil Spin.

[YUN]
Yun lands and rolls with the landing, before popping up near a random table. He leans on it with a grin and reaches for a bottle of water. "One sec." He holds up a finger in Hayley's direction and takes a long swig of somebody's water. He wipes his lips with the back of his hand and then plants the bottle back down on the table. "Thanks, man. The thirst was real." He knocks on the table and then dives back into the fight with a cartwheel. Y'know, just to make it look good.
"Heck no, Yang's nowhere near as good as me. I mean, we're twins and not only am I better lookin', I'm also the better fighter." Yun flashes a grin and reaches up to flip his cap up a bit. Y'know, so the people can see his oh so good looks. "What can I say? I'm a natural."
And that's about the same moment that Hayley's into her spin and her swing and... Yun backflips out of the way. His hands touch the wood of the floor and he makes sure he's far and wide out of range of that fist, planting himself back down and tosses his braid over his shoulder. "My Kung Fu is always better than, well, everybody's!" And as if to prove the overdone stereotype that he's decided to play up, "KIIIIIYAAAAAAAHHHH!"
Yun takes a couple of steps towards Hayley, before leaping towards her, legs walking him through the air and his right fist extended for some prime and stylish punching action!
COMBATSYS: Hayley blocks Yun's Zesshou Hohou.

[HAYLEY]
Hayley listens to Yun as he explains the difference between his skill and his brother's. She thinks about what Yun's brother must be like. Does he have the same attitude? Are they opposites? Is there really that much of a difference between them? Yun launches at her, fist-extended.
----------------
Hayley gets smacked in the leg by the bamboo rod again. She drops to one knee, struggling to stand up. Sensei Souta frowns, stepping around in front of her and glaring down.
"Most of all," Souta says, turning to look straight ahead. "Remember that no one is a master in one day. When you fall, stand back up. When your fist is stopped, strike again. Vigiliance and discipline is key. Try again."
----------------
Hayley grits her teeth and rubs her sneaker against the floor. She shifts her stance from that of a boxer, extending on fist forward and keeping one close. She sets her feet further apart, takes a deep breath, and braces for impact.
Her forearm snaps up to intercept the punch, slamming against it with bonerattling force, but Hayley stands firm. She pushes in, stepping forward and angling herself sideways. She moves in shoulder first, ready to take another blow if it comes. She's ready now, focused.
She pushes up with back leg hard enough to make the floor creak, then launches forward toward Yun. Putting all her weight and strength into it, she slams forward at him with a hip-check, intending to intercept him before he recovers and lay him out flat with -- hmm, she does kind of have a big butt for a small girl, doesn't she?
COMBATSYS: Hayley successfully hits Yun with Wombat Tackle.

Yun 1/---====/=======|======-\-------\0 Hayley
[YUN]
Once that leaping punch of his is blocked, Yun hops backwards to make sure he has some space. He always needs space for the things he's trying to do. For the moves he tries to perform. For the style and grace of the White Dragon.
Speaking of which, Yun has been playing it too cocky this entire time. In fact, he's been showing off more than he normally would've since he's been taking care of business this entire time. Stopping in between to take sips of water. Talking too much ish. It's just part of the package when somebody fights Yun Lee inside Genhanten. It gives the patrons a show and makes sure they keep on coming back.
Huh. Maybe /that's/ why Gen set this up in the first place. Because Yang sure doesn't have to fight people for noodles. Weird. And also Hmmmmmm.
Anyway, Yun's doing a little two-step dance back on his side of the 'Ring' since he's figuring he's in the lead. He takes a moment to pause and spin, about to reach up and take his cap off for a bow when he hears that floor creak. An eyebrow raises and he spins on his ankles in time to see Hayley headed straight for him.
Yun doesn't even have time to react except to get rocked by that magnificent hip-check, which wobbles him and knocks quite a bit of Wind out of the White Dragon's Clouds. Before he can even recover, before he can even get his feet to move the way he wants them to on those wobbly legs, he's catching the Full Wombat right to the face! It knocks him down and flat to the floor, his head smacking against the hardwood floors and sending a grunt of pain flowing forth from his lips.
There's barely any time for Yun to react, especially since his head is in serious pain... also his face. He moves quicker than he probably should be after such brutal tactics and pops up, legs aimed to try and trip Hayley up enough that he can reach around her waist and hook her for a launching throw as he drops back down to the floor to roll backwards.
Again, trying to get himself some space. And a moment to figure out how he just got ASS'd in the face!
COMBATSYS: Hayley just-defends Yun's Strong Throw!

Coming out of the hip-check, Hayley lands with a bounce. Her stance is still firm and defined with her fists tense and extended low at her sides, like a karateka. She tugs up her pants defiantly, snapping the waistband back into place. With her outfit securely fastened, She slides her feet along the floor and drops back into a fighting stance, feet spread far and forward, one fist close and the other arm extended in front.
Silently, Hayley reassures herself. This is what you need. Focus and you can win. She clenches her fists tightly, ready to move once more.
"So your kung fu..." Hayley says, trying to catch her breath. "is it a southern style? Think I recognize it, but it's not quite like anything I've seen."
But then there's the move to grab her by the waist and throw her. Hayley backsteps and blocks the kick with her leg, but there's still the grab to contend with. She reflexively knees forward at Yun, striking with enough force that regardless of whether she hits him she throws herself off balance. The Aussie tumbles back out of the range of the throw, dropping heavily onto the floor bottom-first. She lands with a thump--and maybe a crack of flooring--but she seems unfazed.
"Err," Hayley says, pushing herself back up.

"Crap!"
Yun's response is to the fact that he's kind of prone at the moment that he's attempting to grab Hayley and failing. However, he's not so prone that he hasn't learned how to defend himself in these instances. Which is why in the struggle to get his arms around her, he's managed to work his way to his feet. He keeps his hands up and is pushing himself up to his feet at the same moment that knee is headed in his direction. He pushes at that knee to knock it away while he hops backwards and out of the path of any other attacks headed in his direction.
The moment he's got a little bit of room, he's up and bouncing on the balls of his sneaks. He reaches up to thumb his nose and brings his hands up in a classic fighting style. "Kempo." comes the answer. "With a twist." Of course, that's his own stylings that he's put on these moves. Which is probably why they are so unpredictable.
"Let me show you what I can really do." Yun tosses a wink at Hayley before he takes off running in her direction. He pours on the speed in an attempt to get to her before she's ready and aims a pair of elbows at her chest to be followed up by a back-to-back lunging palm strikes! His feet are following up just as quickly as he turns and goes airborne, aiming his foot at the underside of her chin to kick her up into the air!

Having her knee redirected only helps to put Hayley further off-balance, ensuring that she does, in fact, land flat on her well-padded toush. She scrambles back, nearly clobbering a nearby table when she plants her fingers onto it and pulls herself up to stand again. Breathing heavily, it takes the Aussie a few moments to get her bearings again.
"Kempo?"
----------------
Hayley did not see her mother, Xiu, as often as she might have liked. It was not that she hated her mother, or that her mother hated her. It just felt like, when her mother's acting career took off, Hayley and her father were away working on the show while her mom was doing her own productions.
One particular day in late September in Hong Kong was an exception. Hayley and her dad were there to produce a multi-part episode on the "Styles of Hong Kong" -- particularly Chinese Kempo and Wing Chun. There was a delay in filming while her dad did some negotiating, so Hayley was sent to stay with her mother.
Her mother, always pragmatic, decided that their bonding time would consist of Hayley receiving a primer on Kempo, Xiu's preferred style.
Hayley, a pre-teen at the time, strikes out with several boxing like bunches aimed at Xiu. She steps into them, redirects the right with the back of her hand, then punches under Hayley's left to nail her in the stomach. She follows it up with two punches--one with each hand--and a hammer hook to Hayley's chin.
"Kempo," Xiu tells her daughter, "moves like water. It slips through the cracks in the opponent's defenses and then smashes them like the waves on the shore. There is rhythm. Pacing. It is not stiff like karate or -- bouncy, like boxing. It does not float like butterfly or sting like bee. It is water. Be water, then you can be Kempo."
----------------
The wink tells her something is coming. Something big. Decisive. Hayley knows she has to act. Her eyes narrow and she remembers. There's no time to think or react. She must be water.
The elbows zero in on Hayley, and she slides to meet them. Ducking in, she pushes against the sides of each arm with the flats of her hands to direct them away. The palm strikes follow, and Hayley turns into them to take them against the broad of her back.
The kick comes up, and Hayley hops back, aiming at hooking her leg over Yun's to stop the kick with her well-muscled thigh. She then snaps down, tries to grab Yun's extended leg, then falls backward. If he doesn't slide out of it, Hayley will drop back into him while pulling his leg uncomfortably to throw him off balance. If she succeeds? Well, Yun will find himself both in a leg-lock and also being sat on by the Chinese-Australian. Neither is fun!

[YUN]
For all intents and purposes, Yun feels like he's about to catch a raw deal here. As his attacks are blocked in various and stylish ways, ways that he actually knows and understands, there are moments that his eyes widen and then widen more. It's not until his kick is kicked away does he stumble into the hooking grab of Hayley's. He doesn't, however, allow her to get that drop back on without a fight.
Rather, he doesn't actually allow himself to go with her. Instead, he goes the other way, slipping out of it as quickly as possible and rolling backwards. This gives him just a little bit of room and a little bit of a moment to recover. He doesn't want to look like a complete ass. Not after all the showing off he's been doing.
It doesn't help that some of his normal fans are starting to get behind Hayley either!
"Almost had me there. Maybe I should stop givin' you so many chances." Yun tries to play it off with words but he's pretty sure Hayley knows what's up. She seems to be a more capable fighter than he originally thought and thus he steps towards her and just aims a swift kick at her side.
Either he's taking it easy on her or he's gearing up for something worse. Who knows with this kid.

Hayley starts to drop back, but Yun is moving out of the way. She drops back onto her open palm, turns on it, then rights herself once more before dropping into a stance more reminiscent of Kempo. She brushes her hair back, having finally seemed to have regained some of her confidence. At the very least, this is a good fight. Yun isn't threatening her life or tearing her down. He's arrogant, but he's not a monster. Hayley can deal with that.
"I dunno," Hayley says, smiling a bit. "Hey, I appreciate a fair shake," she says. "Been having a rough time lately, mate, anything's appreciated." But then Yun comes in with a swift side kick. Hayley moves to intercept, seemingly ready to endure it head on to get a better position.
Instead it catches her unprepared. The kick slams into her ribs and knocks the wind out of her, causing Hayley to wheeze and stumble instead, gripping her side.
"Okay, ow," Hayley tries to chuckle. "Maybe I shouldn't get cocky..." But even as she says this, she's going in again, sliding toward Yun to hook her arm under his armpit and throw him over her shoulder.
COMBATSYS: Yun dodges Hayley's Quick Throw.

[YUN]
"You're right. That's my job!"
Yun gets hooked up under the arm but moves just like the water that he is. He slips out of it and spins right around, moving as quickly as he possibly can and turning his back to Hayley in one fell swoop. Which he probably shouldn't be doing considering just how much she's been keeping up with him this fight. He's pretty impressed, that's for sure.
"I haven't had a fight this fun in a long time. Keep it up!" That's right, Yun's one arrogant son of a Lee but he's certainly not one to put down people in a fun and fair fight. Not /really/, anyway. Fighting is supposed to lift people's spirits and his extroverted nature is aiming to do just that.
From his new position, he drops and rolls backwards, moving quickly to get close to Hayley. As he rises up, he pours on the speed and the strength of his whole body to see if he can't send it colliding into hers, muscled and solid shoulder first.
COMBATSYS: Hayley just-defends Yun's Tetsuzanko!

Hayley blinks when Yun fluidly rolls out of her toss. "Nice!" she says with a pant before stepping back into a proper stance. She watches Yun carefully, trying to size up her best option.
"Glad to hear it," she says, "Do a lot of people take you up on the offer? I mean, it's a bit odd, but it did catch my eye y'know..."
And then Yun is moving to shoulder tackle Hayley. She charges to meet him, intercepting the shoulder-charge a bit early by virtue of her lower center-of-gravity. She blocks the shoulder charge with her hip, softening the blow for her shoulders to bear it. The two crash, then she breaks away again and drops back into her focused stance.
COMBATSYS: Hayley focuses on her next action.

Yun doesn't know how much of Kempo style Kung Fu that Hayley knows but he does understand that she knows some of his moves. And that's not going to be good for the rest of this fight. If she's going to be reading him the way she is, he's going to have to come up with some alterations to make things happen.
"You have no idea. Why? Beats me. I guess people are just cheap these days." Yun tries to explain a little more about the offer and why it's designed the way it is. "Gen also thinks I talk too much. I think this is his way of shutting me up as much as possible."
With that revelation hitting Yun square in the feels, the young upstart falls back into his quick movements and rushes in for Hayley once again. This time he just uses his momentum to throw himself into the air and descends down at Hayley with a fist aimed to rock her right in square in the face!
COMBATSYS: Yun successfully hits Hayley with Strong Punch.

"Oh, whoof. I hope it doesn't overwork you too much," Hayley admits. "Sorry for the extra trouble, but this is a good match!" Hayley shifts her position, trying to keep her focus on Yun.
"Gen?" Hayley asks, interested. "Is that your teacher? --sorry I'm talking so much while we fight!" She rises to block, aiming to use her forearms to catch the downward fist with a low Horse Stance -- she just seems ot have bits and pieces of all sorts of different styles -- but she's too slow. The fist catches her on the cheek with enough force to stagger her and lay her out. She dabs her mouth with her thumb, drawing blood. A few ooohs and aahs escape the crowd.
Hayley then shifts back into her Kempo stance, bending her knees. She powers forward toward Yun, then sidehops off of a nearby support beam. Gaining some altitude, she descends back toward Yun.
If she succeeds, she stomps down on his shoulders or back, then laps back up again. Turning a flip, she drops a second time with knees. From there, she flips back up again to finally drop down with a seated drop.
And if she misses, well, she may leave herself looking like a bit of a fool -- or worse!
COMBATSYS: Yun instinctively dodges Hayley's Swooping Season.

Yun likes to plan ahead. Which is why he's always staying on his feet. Well, why he tries to stay on his feet. He's always trying to stay where he can maybe pull off some sort of twist or flip so that he can make his fights look as amazing and as cool as they do. Which is one of the reasons Gen makes him fight so much. Ugh.
"Yeah. He's uh... something like that." Even Yun doesn't really know how to explain his relationship with Gen. He shrugs it right off, though, as Hayley comes back at him. He spins out of the way and off towards a table that he memorized earlier. As he moves towards the table, he steps up onto something and then leaps up onto the table, spinning around and grabbing a new location from which to get into a fighting stance. He's grinning, though, as he brings his hands up.
Probably because his skateboard is rolling right towards Hayley. Here's to hoping his timing is right and she lands on the damn thing for some comedic timing du jour!
COMBATSYS: Yun successfully hits Hayley with Thrown Object.

With a heavy thump, Hayley lands where Yun just was and practically cracks the floor on impact. "--sorry!" she apologizes, realizing she may wind up paying for damages as well as her food, at this rate. When she hits the ground her legs almost give out, which is unfortunate -- because Yun's still on the move.
And so, Hayley steps forward in pursuit, so focused on him that she doesn't notice the skateboard getting kicked toward her. She steps forward onto it, which is enough to throw her off balance. She slides forward, her feet going up and out from her as she lands on the floor with a heavy thump. When she does, she simply lays there for a moment.
"That was a little dirty, you know," Hayley says weakly. She lifts her legs, then leaps from flat on her back to back on her feet. She staggers and shifts into stance again, swaying a little to try and stay balanced.
But then, Hayley puts her full effort into her next move. She transitions into a one-legged taekwondo stance, snapping forward with a powerful spin kick.
COMBATSYS: Yun dodges Hayley's Heavy Kick.

Yun looks innocent from atop his table. "Dirty? Hey, it's not my fault you don't look where you're goin' when you're fighting!" Yun wiggles his fingers at her, as if to turn up the playful factor. "Besides, if this were a real fight, it would've been a whole lot dirtier I bet."
Yun spots her coming at him with all that action in her hips and he's already pushing to leap off the table and somersault over her head to land down on the floor behind her. She hits hard so he's trying his best to stay out of her way. Especially when she's swinging those legs around like that. "Focus up. If you're gonna' hit me..." He hauls off with a powerful fist aimed for the side of her head. "Hit me!"
Is he cheering her on while also being her opponent?!
COMBATSYS: Yun successfully hits Hayley with Fierce Punch.

[HAYLEY]
Hayley remembers her fight with Tremor. If he had really cut loose, she wouldn't be here. She wouldn't be anywhere, truthfully. She doesn't say anything, in fact. Her leg swings around, but doesn't find any purchase. Instead she carries the kick on through and tries to brace for the follow-up.
And it comes in the form of a strong punch. Her block comes too slowly, and the punch catches her square in the jaw. It staggers her back, knocking her against a table with a thump. The patrons aren't at it -- they're further back -- and Hayley leans on it for a brief moment before slumping on down and flopping unceremoniously into sitting on the floor.
"Okay," she says, "I give up," she says between heavy breaths. "Even if I do hit you, I don't think I can take you down with it." Hayley thumps back against the edge of the table, looking up at the ceiling for a long moment. It takes her a while to catch her breath.
She runs a hand through her hair awkwardly. Frustratedly. "I need to get better." She looks down at the floor. "--not because of the noodles," she adds, more quietly. "I can pay for those."
[YUN]
Yun is over by his skateboard by the time that Hayley slumps against that table. He kicks his skateboard up into his hand and tucks it under his arm. He's listening but walks right over to where she is and offers her a hand. To help her up. Not that she's all the way down but he's got to make sure she stays all the way up and on her feet. So that she can be proud of what she's done.
"Just keep fightin'. You already got some crazy... ass... moves." Yun flashes a grin. "If you want, maybe I could even show you some moves. I mean, you've already seen what I can do. And how amazing is that?"
Yun grins and gives a quick nod towards the kitchen. "Don't worry about it. You were awesome. The noodles ain't on the house this time. They're on me." He offers her another one of those playful winks. He's been doing that a lot this fight. Weird.
COMBATSYS: Yun has left the fight here.

"Thanks," Hayley says quietly. "It's just--there are so many good fighters out there. You, Rashid, Abel..." Hayley gets more quiet. "Tremor..." She rubs her head, likely still sore from the fight. "It's--I've still got such a long ways to go is all."
She sits down, dusting herself off. But then Yun offers noodles. Hayley turns redder. It seems to be more than just exhaustion from the fight.
"Oh, um," Hayley rubs her head. "Thanks, Yun. I really do appreciate it." She looks off to the side.
This is going to be a really awkward dinner, isn't it?
