Match of the Millennium

Description: The CWA presents a ladies' exhibition match: Neo-League champion Rainbow Mika vs. pro-wrestling rookie and punk rocker, Alexis Lovell! Who will be able to get the three count in a clash of musical might against muscle power?

[RAINBOW MIKA]
"And in this corner---RAAAAAINBOW MIIIIIIIKA!"

The announcer bellows, prompting Mika to spring up toward the ring. She's been waiting for this match for the last few weeks. It's not a /huge/ event, but as Mika well knows, any sort of promotion is crucial to doing well in this business. Small venue or not, Rainbow Mika always gives it her all. She can't disappoint her fans! They want Rainbow Mania!

Mika vaults up onto the ring, slips under the ropes, and climbs back to her feet in a smooth motion--a demonstration of raw athleticism. She raises her fist in the air, pumping it to psyche up the crowd. The steady cheers--just make her even more psyched up. She takes the mic from the referee, and turns to address her adoring fans.

"I hope you're ready!!" Mika shouts to the crowd, "because tonight is going to be a POWERHOUSE THROWDOWN!" Another shout rings out from the crowd.

Inwardly, Mika thinks to herself. Didn't she meet an Alexis before? Where was that...

[ALEXIS]
It's at about that moment that the opposing theme song, "Hail Destroyer," kicks in over the arena's sound system. The arena lights dim as the guitars tear from the speakers, and Alexis emerges from the backstage. She's dressed in her usual 'punk Catholic schoolgirl' fighting persona.

"And the opponent, from Toronto, Canada... ALEXISSS LOVELL!"

Alexis takes her time making her way down to the ring, a look of annoyance on her face. The reason for her expression being unclear gives the impression that it's something about the crowd or the fact that she's here that annoys her, and as a result, the reaction she gets is mixed: While there are a few Alexis fans in the audience (some Killasaurus Orphanage fans even managed to get tickets despite the short notice), there are some who don't recognize her, and at least a few anti-fans of the crude Canadian. The boos match the cheers, not quite as loud when combined as the pop Mika got for her entrance.

"You suck!"

A bald wrestling fan shouts at Alexis as she passes him on the ramp. Without turning her head, Alexis reaches out and grabs the man's shirt collar, pulling him over the barricade with one hand and letting him fall to the ramp before continuing casually down to the ring.

Alexis ascends the side steps and treads onto the apron with one hand on the top rope, then pulls herself up to sit on the corner turnbuckle, swinging her legs up to stretch across the top rope briefly before she braces her hands on the ropes to swing her boots down to the mat. Sauntering over to center ring across from Rainbow Mika, she looks everywhere but toward her opponent, her attention turning to the crowd. She throws the horns at them, fist in the air with index and pinky outstretched, and gets a fair number of cheers and a few boos.

"Once more, with feeling!" she sing-songs to the audience. Then she turns her hand around, makes a fist, and extends a single finger.

That gets a proper boo out of the crowd.

Turning her attention to Mika, Alexis lowers her arm and stretches, flexing and popping her fingers.

"I wonder who their favourite is," she says with an ironic tone. "You ready to rock, Rainbow?"

"Wow," Mika thinks aloud, "you really play the part to a tee..." Mika watches Alexis for a moment, sizing her up as she signals to the audience--in various ways. "I LIKE IT! You should give your all! One-hundred percent! There's no halfway in wrestling!"

Rainbow Mika spreads her feet far apart, shifting her weight to drop into a wide wrestling stance with her palms open. "I'm always ready! Let's do this!!"

As soon as the bell rings, Mika powers forward into a sprint, dashing in low toward Alexis! She reaches out to try and catch her round the waist, squeeze tightly, then turn and hurl the punk rocker across the ring into the ropes!

"Same with punk rock," Alexis says in a low voice meant more for her opponent than the audience. "If you half ass it, you just end up with grunge." She plants her own feet apart as well, though her stance isn't quite as wide or practiced as Mika's.

When the bell rings and Mika charges in, Alexis holds her arms out to try and contest the grapple, but the more powerfully built blonde manages to win out and send Alexis flying at the ropes. The punk rocker catches herself against them, and the ring ropes sag outward with the momentum as her hands wrap around the top rope. A quick tug down on the rope and a hop put the soles of her boots atop it, and she gives a bounce for momentum before springing back off of the ropes as if off of a diving board. She flips backward as she does so, flying at Rainbow with her body inverted as she tucks her knees to her chest. The soles of her boots hum with harmonic notes as she kicks both out toward Rainbow's upper body in what could be considered a combination moonsault-dropkick!

"Yeah!! That's the spirit! Full-ass it!" Perhaps that one was lost in translation from English to Mika's native Japanese.

But Mika's already on the offensive as she responds, and after tossing Alexis into the ropes Mika's bounding toward her to set up a clothelines. Before she can even swing, however, Alexis flips the toss around and transitions into a moonsault dropkick! There's a moment wherein Mika seems to be scrambling to shift her stance and counter it. She goes in to try and catch Alexis' legs and set up another throw--

--but she overshoots her reach, Alexis' sonically-charged boots slamming heavily into Mika's shoulders and leaving her ears ringing. She staggers back from Alexis, clearly dizzy. "W-whoa!" Get it together, she tells herself. This one's no amateur...

[ALEXIS]
Alexis' feet rebound off of Mika's shoulders as she drops backward to the mat, skirt aflutter. The Canadian fighter hits the canvas on her back and tumbles with intent back to her feet. When she sees that Mika still appears to be dazed from the kick. Alexis doesn't hesitate to try and take advantage of the opening.

Lunging forward fast and low, she aims the point of her right elbow pad at Mika's stomach to try and force her on the defensive with an elbow shot backed with a burst of sonic energy. From there she'd try and transition into grabbing Mika by one arm and swinging her around before sending to her ropes in a setup frequently favoured by traditional wrestling fans.

Not that she'd pander to them, of course.

Mika is getting her bearings when Alexis darts in quickly with a strong elbow shot. The burly blonde goes for a forearm block, intercepting the blow with both arms. This puts her in the perfect position for Alexis to next grab one of her arms, swing her around, then rebound her off the turnbuckle! She stumbles forward, still a little dizzy from before.

But Rainbow Mika is not the type to let dizziness get in the way of her victory. She can hear the crowd cheering for her, and it motivates to keep going. There's no way she'll just roll over and let Alexis beat her!

Still moving full speed, Mika pivots on her heels, then springs backward. She flings herself through the air toward Alexis, rump first, intending to crash right into and reverse the setup!

In the moments before Mika smashes backside-first into Alexis, the brunette brawler can't help but consider that giving Mika momentum may have been a mistake. And then she's crashing down into the mat under Mika's weight like so many victims before her, feeling that she'd thoroughly underestimated the potency of Mika's arsenal.

"Nngh?" Alexis wonders wordlessly as she rubs her face, lifting her head off the mat to try and regain her bearings. While she's in the disadvantageous position, the aftermath of the assault does leave a moment where the two fighters are on the mat in close proximity with each other. And the wrestling champion's pigtails present an opportunity...

Reaching out with her gloved hands, Alexis tries to grab hold of Mika's hair to give herself a boost up to her feet while also keeping Mika down. If she can manage to do so, she'll drive a cheap-shot knee into Mika's back before twisting the other wrestler around so that she's doubled over in front of Alexis, pull Mika's head in between Alexis' thighs, then apply a double underhook before kicking her legs out and dropping down to drive Mika's face into the mat with her hips, unleashing a discharge of sonic energy like a power chord from a guitar in the process!

Rainbow Mika hits her momentum both literally and figuratively as she collides with Alexis. She slams into the punk rocket with enough force to bowl her over, but at the same time Mika herself crashes hard onto the mat. She rubs her backside for a moment as she gets her bearings, but there's no time to rest when Alexis grabs her by the pigtail and pulls her over.

"Hey!" Mika protests, as she's dragged back. The cheap shot catches her off-guard and she buckles--somewhat. Through her rigorous training, Mika tenses up on the hit, enduring the impact as best she can despite the circumstances. Either way, she goes down, finds herself in caught in Alexis' leg lock, and then she's given a dose of her own medicine with Alexis' Drop D!

"Hurgh," Mika grumbles, trying to get her bearings while still under Alexis. Her ears are ringing again with the sonic affect-effects, but Rainbow Mika refuses to give up. Even with Alexis' blows, it's hard to not hear the crowd all-around the them. That--and the beginning of a pin count! "1..."

And so, Mika snaps her legs up and tries to lock them around Alexis' leg, and turn a complete flip with the two of them. If Mika succeeds, Alexis may suddenly find their positions reversed with Mika sitting atop her instead! "You're really good!" Mika says, clearly winded. "But I won't lose!"

The momentary thrill of triumph from managing to establish dominance in the grapple leaves Alexis paying more attention to the crowd than to her opponent. The angle of attack is also unexpected - Alexis tries to bring her hands up to catch Mika's legs as they swing up over her shoulders, but the momentum is already against her by the time that she reacts, the pin reversed as Alexis is summarily rolled over and sat on.

The position that Alexis finds herself in is... somewhat stifling, to say the least. She'd be making her own protests heard if she could manage to, but her predicament makes voicing them difficult. Her hands move to Mika's hips to try and lift her off while her legs kick wildly, perhaps attempting to mirror the reversal - but even if Mika wouldn't see it coming, Alexis doesn't have the sheer raw athleticism to manage the maneuver from beneath the blonde. The crowd start to count again:

TWO...

Finally, Alexis does manage to roll sideways out from beneath Mika, then quickly scramble to her feet to get out of harm's way. Placing her hands on her knees, Alexis pants for air as her mind races. The sound of the crowd's reaction to the near-pinfall catches her attention. What she needs to win this match is ammunition for her audio arsenal - something often best provided by the fans, whether they're in her favour or against her. An idea forms in Alexis' mind as she looks out to the audience before turning her head back toward Mika. Her lips curve in a smirk as she straightens, her back arching slightly.

"Hey, Mika-chan~" she serenades loud enough for the audience to hear as she smooths out the back of her skirt with both hands. Then, abruptly, she pivots on her heel, presenting her back to Mika, then smacks her own backside.

It's cheeky to taunt someone. It's cocky to stop wrestling them to taunt them. To stop wrestling and steal an opponent's signature taunt, though, may well be the height of in-ring disrespect.

As polarizing a performer as Alexis may be, the action is enough to fire up the crowd. And whether they love or hate her, their reaction is fuel for Alexis' own inner fire - and her fighting style. Already a hum can be heard in the ring, sitting at a pitch below that of the crowd, as Alexis subtly begins to focus the ambient sound.

After her stunning reversal, Mika seems content to let Alexis flail underneath her until the pin count is finished. Before it ends, however, Alexis manages to work her way out and back to her feet. As she does, Mika's on the move again, rolling across the ring and springing back to her feet as well. Here Mika psyches herself up, rolling her shoulders and bouncing in place to the excitement of the crowd. She's sore and still a little dizzy, but she's starting to hit her stride. The crowd seems to be loving it! This is what she's here for.

But then, Alexis takes her own turn at working the crowd. Mika's brow furrows, after which she looks at the crowd incredulously. Whether actually mad or just playing the part, Mika seems like she's steaming. Alexis stole /her/ taunt.

"Well I hope your ready!!" Rainbow Mika bellows, "Because since you're asking for, Rainbow Mania is COMING YOUR WAY!!!"

And so, Mika breaks into a sprint again, throwing herself against the ropes. On the rebound she picks up speed once more, making beeline toward Alexis with a heavy thump of her boots against the springs of the ring. As she closes the gap Mika throws herself bodily toward Alexis, going airborne with a mighty dropkick!

Alexis turns her shoulder into the oncoming boots of Rainbow Mania, bracing herself to try and withstand the blonde superstar's aerial attack. It's not enough to slow down the pain train that is Mika, though; Lexi finds herself kicked off of her feet and hurtling into the ring ropes. She ends up hitting the ropes at a high enough angle that she flips right over them, tumbling down to ringside with a thump.

"Ugh, son of a..." Alexis mutters as she reaches up to rub the side of her head, quickly sitting up with some effort. The crowd cheer for the heroine of the hour (decidedly not Alexis) as the Canadian pushes up to her knees, moving closer to the apron, and... reaching under it? She seems to be searching for something, though it's equally clear that nothing she /should/ be bringing into the ring would be found underneath it!

The answer becomes evident when the musician lifts up a red guitar that would be familiar to anyone who's watched the punk rocker fight before. Somehow, the instrument seems to have found its way under the ring, and then into it, as Alexis slides it under the bottom rope before diving through the gap herself.

Standing up and slinging the guitar's strap over her head, Alexis flicks a switch, bringing the instrument's inbuilt speaker crackling to life. "Alright! Not bad, but let's see if you can handle this!"

As the musician's fingers start to fly across the frets, it becomes clear that what she's playing is a trademarked piece. Not content just to steal the babyface's taunt, it's Mika's own theme song that Lexi weaponizes, sending waves of sonic energy across the ring at the wrestler!

It's probably not exactly clear in the rules of professional wrestling whether attacking your opponent with music is permissible or not, but since when has Alexis been one to follow the rules?

Mika slams heavily onto the ring once delivering her mighty dropkick. Not a moment after she lands, Rainbow Mika is planting her hands on the mat and vaulting back onto her feet. From there she's working the crowd again, raising her hands in the air and pointing for the "number one" sign.

It doesn't take long for the crowd to change its cheers and shouts to jeers, boos, and gasps--but not from Mika. Alexis's use of a foreign object definitely turns up the excitement, whatever the case.

Mika is still working the crowd when Alexis starts playing. "Hey!! How low are you going to go?!" Rainbow Mika shouts, pointing an accusatory finger.

"If you wanna be like me, though, let me give you a proper demonstration of the original!" Mika bellows, charging in low go try and grab hold of Alexis for a powerful suplex!

Even as she goes in, however, the rock intensifies. An eardrum-busting power chord rings out as Mika reaches for Alexis--and suddenly the burly blonde is hurled backward and sprawled across the center of the ring! She lays there a moment, laid flat out by the point-blank soundburst.

[ALEXIS]
When the power of rock is enough to bowl Mika over, even Alexis herself looks surprised. Her eyes widen for a moment before a confident smirk crosses her face. Slinging her guitar around to her back with a practiced motion, she throws the horns to the crowd, eliciting a roar of both contempt and confirmation.

Rainbow Mania hasn't been quashed yet, though, and with the possibility of victory at hand, Lexi knows better than to lose focus. While Mika's laid out on the mat, Alexis makes a move toward the corner of the ring and grabs hold of the top ropes before stepping her way up the turnbuckles. Turning her body to face the center of the ring, she looks to either side toward the audience.

"Let's-go Mi-ka!"

The chants implore the wrestling superstar to recover. Alexis responds to them by sticking her tongue out with true punk disdain for a moment, before bouncing on the ropes a couple of times, her whole body humming with energy as she waits for Mika to find her feet again. As soon as she does, Lexi will launch herself off the top ropes and swing into a crossbody, aiming to collide perpendicular across Mika's torso with a sonic crash. If she succeeds, before the two can hit the mat, she'll swing herself around and hook her arm over Mika's neck before dropping back to drive Mika's head into the mat with a devastating DDT, accompanied by a crushing bass shockwave!

Rainbow Mika is sprawled out on the mat as Alexis sets up her daring manuever. She's still getting her bearings--her ears are ringing, her head is throbbing, and her muscles are sore. Alexis hits /hard/, and while Mika has been in countless fights, that doesn't make it any easier to handle those hits.

The chanting pushes her to onward though. The steady chanting from the crowd drives Mika to push herself back up off the ground, climb to her feet, and shake her head to clear it. As she looks back toward Alexis, however, it's already too late. The punk heel is launching herself off the ropes and right into Mika, slamming into the blonde and putting her in a devastating DDT. Mika braces herself, trying to break her fall as best she can, but despite her best efforts she's back on the floor. There's a gasp and the crowd goes silent, but only for a moment. Soon they're chanting once more.

"Rain-bow! Rain-bow!"

Mika stirs, then lifts herself back onto her knees, bracing herself with her forearm. She stares down at the mat for a moment, simultaneously raising the tension as she genuinely works to get herself going again. She finally gets to her feet, rests her hands on her knees, then raises them to smack the sides of her face to psych herself up. She points at Alexis once more.

"I can't lose! Not while my fans are depending on me!" Mika drops back into her wide stance once more. "That's the real power of fighting spirit!" the blonde shouts, powering forward to Alexis. She reaches out for a wide grab, aiming to grab Alexis by the waist, hoist her up, and put her into a crushing bear hug.

The high-flying maneuver leaves Alexis herself down on the mat at its conclusion, panting for air as she recovers from the combination of exertion, the impact of the mat on her back, and the ringing in her own ears from the noise caused by her fighting style. She can hear the crowd chanting as if it were in the distance, and she groans as she props herself up with one hand. Even once she's on her feet, she's still a bit out of it, perspiration beading on her brow and causing her bangs to tangle in her face.

She doesn't move out of the way when Mika charges in, but readies herself by hunching over slightly and bringing up her arms. Mika's faster on the offensive, though, and Alexis is hoisted up by the waist into the bear hug.

"Gnnh!"

Alexis gasps through her teeth as Mika puts the squeeze on her. It's a sound tactic (no pun intended) to target her core with a maneuver like that - Lexi's lungs and diaphragm are, after all, an integral part of her arsenal, beyond cardiovascular considerations. A full-on throttling would be a strictly heelish move, but the display of power is both effective and appropriate. Alexis looks as though she might even be ready to tap out as her hands clench and flex at her sides.

"Gahhh!"

Simply powering out of the move proves a virtual impossibility for Alexis, despite her attempts to do so as she cries out in pain. Her arms are pinned, and she kicks her legs on either side of Mika, but to no avail - the blonde beach brawler is too built to be toppled.

Alexis lets her head hang back to conserve energy and relax the strain on her neck, wrapping her legs around Mika's waist. As it looks like she's starting to fade, though, Mika's words suddenly hit home. Alexis' fans - few as they may be - aren't counting on her. If they are, frankly, she doesn't care. But there's something out there that is counting on her - and when it comes down to it, she's counting on herself.

Her interpretation of fighting spirit may be different from Mika's - and something she's never really defined for herself - but when it comes down to it, fighting spirit is what keeps Alexis going. And also makes her try and headbutt Mika in the face.

She does so by tightening the grip of her legs suddenly for leverage before snapping her head forward with as much force as she can muster, a thick bass note popping in the air between them should the attack connect. From there she'll try and force a hopefully-off-balance Mika down to the mat by pushing her whole body weight into her, letting out a battlecry and drawing back a fist. Those who've seen Alexis fight before would likely know what comes next if she manages to mount and straddle Mika: a barrage of punches raining down on the champ, each backed by sonic chi!

Rainbow Mika has Alexis in her grasp, bringing her full-power to bear as she tries to squeeze the punk rocket into submission. The blonde's muscles tense as she brings the full results of her rigorous training to beat against her smaller opponent. For a moment, it seems like she may force Alexis to tap out through sheer power.

That is, until Alexis gets a newfound surge of power from her own spirit! The punk rocker's legs lock around Mika's waist, putting a great deal of pressure on her as well. Mika tenses, trying to resist by leveraging muscle against muscle. She shifts her position, ready to hurl Lexi into the air for a finishing manuever via a devasting air throw...

...when Alexis slams her head heavily against Mika's with a thunderous cacophony that throw the wrestler into a daze. She stumbles and staggers, her grip loosening until Alexis throws her full weight against the heftier blonde. The two of them fall to the mat hard.

Mika wheezes as they slam down, the wind pushing out of her lungs as Alexis is suddenly (and forcefully) seated on top of her. Mika doesn't have a moment to catch her breath before there's a, sonic-infused fist connecting with her face. Then another. And another. Rainbow Mika tries to push back up, gathering her strength to resist--but Alexis is relentless! Several more sonic punches later, Mika finally gives out and thumps heavily onto the mat.

"I can't...lose..." she gasps, before thumping back down.

The roar of the crowd is drowned out of Alexis' ears by the report of her blows. As she delivers the blows, though, a close look would indicate that her expression is focused and determined, rather than furious. Once she's sure that Mika won't be fighting back, she does finally relent, panting heavily as she sits up, hands falling to her sides.

And that's when it hits her - Mika's not getting up. The crowd are in disarray - many aren't sure whether to cheer the spectacle or boo the Canadian, and some are outright stunned to silence. Alexis pivots her seat on Mika and places her hands behind her, leaning back in a resting position that looks more disrespectfully casual than it is as the crowd starts to count the pin.

"ONE!"

"TWO!"

"THREE!"

As the boos start to rain down and 'Hail Destroyer' starts playing over the arena's sound system, Alexis turns her head to quietly address Mika in a way that the crowd can't hear.

"Hey, thanks for agreeing to this match, eh? I wanna catch up with you after this."
