Walter - Police Brutality: Dragon Edition

Description: During a trip to Southtown, a bit of wind and a drunken bystander causes Walter's inhuman nature to be exposed! In the wake of the Butcher's killings, the police are on high alert. Chun-Li responds. Walter gets angry and cries innocent, amongst other things. And pays for it.

There are times when it seems Walter Bardsley cannot catch a bloody break. There he was twenty minutes ago, minding his own business in the seasonable weather of southtown's business district. Walking about with a cup of coffee in the windy weather, cloak held tight to his body, he'd been bumped into by a drunken woman. Spilling his coffee on her, she'd started spouting angry invectives and generally being unpleasant. It attracted a crowd as the poor, odd priest tried to calm her down. Then he made the mistake of touching an arm. Cue a punch to the face and a gust of wind. Cloak flying away, the crowd paused.

And then the screaming began. The preacher had little choice but flee towards back alleyways with a leap and a glide, the local authorities quickly alerted. By their telling? It'd all but been an assault by the wyrm-kin. Worst still, a sighting of a Darkstalker with the murders going on? Truly, this is a priest with the worst luck in the world. Collapsing after a dead run in a dirty alleyway, he huffs and puffs. Clutching his spear, fox-fluff adornment just below the head being rubbed for good luck and comfort, the man pulls out his hip flask and drains it.

"By /God/! Could this damn day get any worse!?" He curses loudly, roaring despite himself as he proceeds to pray and drink alike to ease his sorrows.

The words of Chun-li's boss at Interpol echoes in her mind : 'Are you sure this is what you want? I said you should take it easy after what happened but... That's not your kind of job'.

The woman closes her eyes inside of her patrol car -- no partner, budget cut forces some teams to be on their own, alas. Chun-li holds a coffee in one hand brings it up to her lips idly. Did she have regrets to have transfered in Southtown momentarily? Dealing with the day to day mysery of the lowest was certainly rough on the moral. It was enough to humble anyone higher ups in Interpol and make them appreciate what their fellow police officer have to do every day.

She had less paperwork to do, but things weren't always exciting... Though as of late there has been one thing : one case she hasn't been on, but what she's heard of it was enough to keep her interested. The tales of The Butcher of Southtown, a serial killer on the run. The thought of helping catching such an horrible man was quite a delight... Rumors are though that he's not human and has monstruous features. She doesn't quite believe it but... Who knows.

A call on the radio distracts Chun-li from her reverie, "We've got a call in the Business District, a suspicious man with monstruous features has been spotted, wears a cloak white," Chun-li blinks and she reaches out for her radio, "19-2, I'm on it HQ," The woman says. The radio replies, "Proceed with caution,"

Resting the coffee aside Chun-li drives out where the man's been last spotted, driving more slowly once she reaches the district in question, roaming around the streets... Until she spots something, in one of the alley -- a white spot, like a white cloak. Bingo.

Parking the car, Chun-li walks out of it, clad in her police officer suit along with the coat to keep her warm. She strides up in the alley, glancing at the man from a distance, "You there!" She calls out, "Don't move, Southtown police," Chun-li calls out with an assertive intonation as she slowly approaches to try and get a better glimpse at the man.

The day just got worse. Walter looks up, inhuman eyes staring at the well trained officer of the law. Right in the middle of finishing off a second hip flask. A scowl comes to his face. It shows off those all-too-pointy teeth. With the wind down the alleyway? It's hard to avoid that flash of a scaled tail and large wings. Groaning, for the moment, he doesn't move. That spear of his, however, is clenched tightly in one hand. Just in case.

"Calm down, Officer, calm down! I...let me guess. It's about that bloody woman, isn't it?" Buzzed, tired, and thoroughly salty by now, much of his manners escape him. Likely a foolish thing to do before Chun-Li.

"She bumped into /me/! I was trying to calm her down! So maybe I touched her shoulder, but it was a God-damned gesture of calm! Not the brightest idea, I know, but I have had a /very/ bad week my dear! I wasn't thinking! Didn't hurt her either! She swung at /me/!" He indicates the bruise on his cheek. The one that can be clearly seen healing right in front of her eyes. Soon enough? It's back to pale slightly flushed englishman skin.

"Father Walter Bardsley, Officer. I have an I.D. and bloody everything."

The moment she approaches closer, Chun-li has no problem noticing the inhuman features of this man : the long wings, the sharp teeth and the monstruous face. Chun-li's eyes widen in disbelief -- probably the short of look Walter must have been used to get in his life.

Chun-li is an experienced enough officer to know that hesitation can cost her her life and it takes barely a milisecond to assess the menace in front of her. Swiftly reflexes cause Chun-li to reach out for her weapon in her holster, drawing it with incredible speed at Walter. He barely has the time to ask Chun-li's grace and to calm down that she's glaring at him, "Drop that spear! Hands behind your head! Now!" She shouts.

What are the odds of meeting two monstruous humanoids in Southtown? The surprise on Chun-li's face easily spoke for itself : it was the first time she saw one, though that surprise disappeared, replaced a stern and cold expression. Looks like she's not kidding or don't want to mess around.

She slowly approaches Walter, not seeming to care much about his stories and his explanations for now. The woman was quite a talented fighter and she has no doubt she could disarm him if necessary but she wants to avoid a chase if she can... She keeps an eye out, for any movement that would betray his intentions, "Drop your weapon and keep your hands up behind your head!" She repeats. She slides closer, almost within the reach of his spear... She has that nasty and severe look on her face that says she'll force him to cooperate if he doesn't, or at least, that she's willing to do it.

Brows rise. About the time that her gun is out of its holster, that spears go up...defensively. Muscles flex and his flask drops. The wyrmkin doesn't strike, but neither is he dropping his spear. Shock upon her face...it makes him growl. Low. Animalistic. Slowly, his aura settles about him. Though weak, his dragon-fear settles about him, even as he lets his own anger and worry for bodily harm sends prickles up his spine. Wings stretch, really to shield him from bullets.

Chun-Li is simply angering the priest. For a moment, he truly sympathizes with Kiyomi.

"And /why/, exactly, should I do that Officer? Are you going to charge me with something? Or does this bloody country not have any concept of 'due process'? I have papers for the spear, thank you! And if I wanted to stab you I would have done so by now." Quips the priest. His free hand rubs his cross.

"I swear, I should have stayed home in England! I come here, try to make a bloody difference, and what do I get? Some smarmy little /git/ of a police officer harassing me!" Worked up into one heck of a tirade, the priest glares hungry, inhuman daggers at Chun-Li.

"But it's not about that, is it? You /have/ no real reason to arrest me, do you? No, you are holding that gun simply because of my wings and tail. I know that look. God help me if I don't think sometimes that you humans are not worth the trouble! What is your bloody name, Officer!? I am going to file one hell of a report about this unless you put that gun down and we talk this out like civilized people!" The wyrmkin's very body is shaking with rage. Then, he moves. It's like a snake, body low to the ground as he flexes with a spine beyond most human beings. In a flash of movement, he's skittered back to stand away from the woman deeper down the alleyway. His entire body looks ready to pounce.

"Don't think I won't defend myself. /Or/ get trampled on by you just because of what I was born as! Make up your mind, shoot me dead, arrest me, I do not care any more!" There's almost a desperate note in his voice as he releases all of that stress of the past few weeks, venting most unwisely at a police officer. Truly, today is a low point in Walter Bardsley's life.

The growl and the animalistic reactions : all those small hints about Walter's body indicates that he's hostile to her and is not about to cooperate. This could be a bad thing, especially with him holding a weapon in his hand.

No reason to arrest him? He's a freaking monster, that should be reason enough! A talking monster, but nonethless. Citizens questioning her authority : it makes Chun-li grits her teeth as Walter wants to argue with her. 'Though she can't help but think : do you truly believe I would go through all this trouble if I didn't have a reason to arrest you?'

At this point, Chun-li has been in enough altercation to know Walter will be beyond reasoning and she'd be wasting her saliva. That, and he's also a potentially dangerous murderer who doesn't want to cooperate. Danger threat at its peak.

He might get explanations from Chun-li... But not now, not while he represents a threat to her life. "I could careless about your wings, or tail," Chun-li lies, "But if you start killing people, you can't expect some sort of kind treatment, and with you hostile, you leave me no choice,"

Arrest or shoot him? Excellent, he's just asking for it. Chun-li puts her gun away -- as lightning fast as she drew it. She performs a low crouch and she lunges at Walter before he tries to get too far away from her. She attempts to make this as quick as possible, performing a rapid spinning kick for Walter's arm in hope to keep his armed hand away from her and she spins again rapidly to kick Walter's side to knock him off against one of the wall in the alley.

He wants some police brutality and violence? He'll get some. She's not messing with a potential murderer who has decided to throw a fit.

"Oh, that is bloody /rich/ my dear! Come off it! I am not a fool." Yes you are Walter Bardsley. You're also drunk.

"Lieing to a priest is a sin, my Child! Repent your way..." Starts up the priest again, quite ready to tirade himself into legal oblivion. But then she mentions killing people. His scaley eyes bulge a little bit in surprise. All of the fire goes out of him for a moment.

"H...hold up. /Murder/? Wh...what are you going on about!? God as my witness, not a single human's blood lay upon my hand in this to..."

Then the gun's gone. Well, that's a plus. The man very nearly relaxes, before she's flying towards him with speed that all but blindsides the wyrm. Once more his unfamiliarity with fighting those outside the supernatural and Hunters shows. Just in time, he brings up a wing. It might feel like kicking in a solid steel wall, but there are bones under there. Bones that creak, break, and Walter screams as he's kicked into a wall. That spear remains in his hand as his face screws in pain.

"Y...you absolute arse! /Hostile/!? Who exactly was the one who threw the first damn kick? You started this Officer! God...bloody legs on you! Should've just shot me!" Seriously, he can't help but find those legs more dangerous than the gun.

With a one-winged flap, he leaps away, landing with his back to the alleyway. Breathing heavily, pain shooting through the wing tilted at an unhealthy angle, he concentrates.

"Right then. Time to defend my rights! I hope you're ready to fight a dragon!" Pause. Scowl.

"Rawr." Completely deadpan.

Then he raises his hand, and golden light flares in it. With a motion, a ball of light speeds towards Chun-Li! Aimed for those dangerous legs of hers, he'll simply seek to charr and weaken what seems to be her primary offensive appendages. Then, his spear drops as he takes hold of it, thrust forward defensively.

"Going to sue for this!" Even a dragon can have lawyers.

Using the legs and punches were much less of a trouble. For every shot fired, a report had to be filled as to why she had to fire and if something could have been done to avoid it. It's such a hassle... Fist and feet though? Nobody's complaining if she beats the hell out of someone.

Chun-li's not a normal officer either : a confident and powerful martial artist in her own right, who has assessed enough of this potential threat to lunge at him and expect to neutralize him within a minute or so.

Chun-li glares at Walter, unphased by his whinning : not like he's the first person she has to arrest who's playing the victim and shouting she'll sue her for doing her job, "You've refused a direct order from an officer of the law! Holding a weapon and proving hostile. I'll force your arrest," Chun-li simply replies. No more fancy talk though -- time to get down with her business.

When Walter unleashes his golden ball of chi at her legs, Chun-li performs a high leap in the air to avoid the blast : she flips in the air, chi flaring up around her right leg as she soars down from her high jump straight for Walter's head to deliver him a nasty drop-kick.

"Bah! Fine! I need to blow off steam anyway. Force me all you want, human, if you think you can manage it!" Uncharacteristically angry and defiant, he mouths off even more. Walter's digging himself a pit here. Amy's going to be /pissed/.

But right now, the wyrmkin isn't exactly thinking straight. Booze, pain, and pure frustration with humanity in general fuels his defiance all the more. A chi-laden drop kick comes for him! His spear comes up, catching the blow, but momentum carries through and he's kicked right back into the wall. With another yell and something about 'police brutality', he writhes on the ground. For a moment. Then that spear of his comes up, and simply tries to trip up the woman! At least he's not trying to actively stab her. Points in his favor, perhaps?

Then he'll aim for a fierce wing-slap towards the martial-artist the man already woozy.

He has to admit. She's /strong/.

"What...in the bloody hell are you?" There's a bit of awe. Chun-li is beyond good. She's amazing. It's a little humbling, actually.

The dragon's answer seems to stun Chun-li for a second -- then just enrages her, "Fine!? Fine!? What sort of answer is that!? Who the hell doesn't comply when a police officer tells you to do something!" The woman grits her teeth obviously trying to keep her calm. He's not the first one Chun-li had to deal with, but this monstruous humanoid is more resilient than most of the intoxicated man Chun-li had to deal with.

Straightening herself up after her blow, Chun-li catches a draft of alcohol coming from his breath -- perfect, just all the worse for him if he's intoxicated, explains some but it doesn't make his behaviour any less acceptable.

The tip of his spear manages to knock Chun-li off her feet, leaving her just enough time to soften her landing. She groans a bit and moves her legs to block her torso with them when she attempts to smack her with his wings, defending her vitals that way.

The woman doesn't even bother to get back on her feet. She gives herself a swing with her legs, rolling into her back and she then gives herself a push with her hands to hurl herself in Walter's direction. She's spinning upside down, legs doing a wide split in the air as she's given herself enough momentum to spin a few times over herself rapidly, giving a flurry of spinning kicks at Walter. The moment she loses the momentum to keep spinning, she lands on her back and rolls gracefully to get back on her feet.

"The kind of person who is angry, scared, and quite /DONE/ with racist police officers who draw first and ask questions later!" Screams back the dragon, his feral side creeping out with every blow. Rational mind waning, he's certainly not being reasonable.

But even that strength doesn't help him much as his blow is taken deftly. Hurled back at him, leg coming down, he's treated to a flurry of blows right to his body that has him roaring, writhing, and making several unhealthy sounds as he's kicked into the air from the force of the blows. Scales don't help much when one hits that damn hard! Wham! Hitting an outcropping, he falls upon his face after leaving a nice dent in solid concrete.

"Ugh..." He mutters, and slowly draws himself to his feet once more. Kicking up his spear, he glares hatefully.

"You expect me to just obey you when all you've done is cast suspicion on me. Maybe I /am/ out of line. Hell, probably so. Do you have /any/ idea how much I have bled for humanity? Called a monster, a demon, and...you are probably just doing your job, racist or not. But if /I/ was the one being hurt, being broken by a human, I bet you would not help me. Would you?" Presses the enraged wyrm.

Then, breathing hard, he settles into an offensive stance.

"Heh. At least you're strong. Good, because I have a lot of anger to work off right now. Sorry. But I am going to show you what happens when people are shoved under society's rug by people like /you/ that have authority. Prove that you deserve to be respected. That you're something more than a badge-wielding thug." Comes the wyrm harshly. It seems he's foisting all of society's problems on the cop. This priest is definitely /not/ in his right mind now.

He'll feel terrible later. His spears burns with pure chi, golden light flaring before he flaps his wings! Speeding towards her with all the force of a freight train, he'll attempt to ram the blunt end of his weapon right into her stomach with an explosion of pure, brute force!

"FEEL THE WRATH OF THE LOST, /OFFICER/!"

"There's a serial killer on the loose with monstruous features! You certainly seem to have a fitting description, and you wield a weapon! Yet, you refuse to comply! This isn't discrimination, as much as I'm concerned, this only proves your guilt!" Chun-li replies once she gets back on her legs.

"I don't care who or what you are, my job is to arrest criminals -- the way you act, you're a danger to everyone, even yourself'" Chun-li replies as she shifts back into her fighting stance : a low one, bent backward slightly with one hand palm pointed in Walter's direction, "I'd help anyone in need," Chun-li simply retorts : though would she truly react if a monster was getting beaten up by humans? Probably she'd take this as self-defense, like being attacked by a bear or something. A talking beast like that was quite unsettling but Chun-li was good at keeping a cool head through all of this. Years as a police officer, obviously.

When Walter prepares to unleash his next attack, Chun-li's eyes briefly scans her surrounding as she takes a step back : the moment he lunges at her with his spear, the woman swiftly grabs the top of a garbage can, bringing the metallic circle in front of her and holding it much like a shield. The impact is rather brutal : sending Chun-li skidding on the ground all the way to the wall on the other side of the alley, pinning her against it. The blow resounds through her arms, felt through the garbage top that screeches a metallic agony from the terrible blow that bend and twist it.

Chun-li shakes her head in an attempt to recover from the blunt attack, still shaken by the brute force Walter display. She glares at him and lifts the arm holding the garbage top and attempts to smack Walter over the head with it, "Feel the wrath of a pissed law officer! Nyargg!!" She shouts back at Walter, the only answer she has to give him to all the world's problem he's tried to put on her shoulder. She had no answer for that, nope.

"A killer!? What in..." Pause. Thinking back, to a particularly odd school-girl, the conversation hits him. The wyrm actually /pauses/.

"Oh. Oh damnit! Walter, you /damn/ idiot!" Some of that fire goes out of him. The Butcher. But it quickly rises. From his look, Walter believes not a word out of Chun-Li's mouth, though by now he likely wouldn't believe her if she said the sky was blue. Licking his lips as his brutal blow is blocked with...a garbage pale? The priest just flushes. By now, he's feeling outclassed /and/ embarrassed. A poor showing indeed before this powerful police officer!

"...I take it it's a bit too late for us to start this whole conversation over? Admittedly, I /may/ have crossed the line with several thi...bah. Too late, right? Oh, just get the ass-beating over with."

From angry, to just looking depressed as he has that garbage top slammed towards him, the clearly pained and now quite out-of-it wyrm almost lazily flicks up his spear to meet the pan. Clank! While it sends a jarring up his arm, a thrust of his weapon tries to redirect the pan into Chun-Li's face!

Then, pulling back clawed hand and spear alike, two shining punch and thrust is aimed for the officer's midsection as he seeks to toss her out of the alleyway! He might not have much hope for victory, but he'll sure not just lay down like a dog.

"I'm still filing that report, by the way! This is /profiling/! Jerk!"

The police officer's expression doesn't change though : she is glaring harshly at Walter. Whatever he would say might be a ruse, and the only way he'd truly manage to get out of this was by lying on the ground and wait for Chun-li to smack him down and handcuff, most likely. Would it truly make things less horrible if he stopped resisting and fighting? Probably not, since he has resisted in the first place. Trying to run away wouldn't do him any good either too, alas...

"Just lie down heads on your head and stop resisting if you don't want this to get any worse," Chun-li says with a growl. His quick fling of the spear allows Walter to thrust the pan back in Chun-li's face, causing her to stagger back. She lets go of it though, her shield no longer necessary, she believes.

Chun-li barely has the time to recover though that Walter lunges back at her and she attempts to retalliate, kneeling slightly and just about to leap back at him to deliver a high kick straight for Walter's jaw. Fortunately, he proves to be quicker than she is, his dual punch hitting her midsection and knocking her back away. She's literally sent flying, thanks to her no touching the ground to brace for the impact. She falls on her back with a loud THUD, a growl of pain escaping her throat as she rolls on the ground and attempts to get back on her feet, dazed by Walter's attack, though now he managed to push her off from the alleyway.

Profiling? Tsss! She's just doing her job!

Truly, it's an unfortunate situation. Mistaken for a killer, too drunk and angry to realize it at first, he's in a pickle. Trying to not think of all the strings he'll have to tug to get out of it, he focuses on the matter at hand. No, stopping his resistance by now would be useless. He'd probably just get beaten on the /ground/ instead.

"Now admittedly a lot of this is my fault. But if I just give up? You are likely just going to pound me unconscious anyway, right? It is not like it will make the situation better for me. Damnit...listen, listen! I /am/ sorry. Just...let's finish this. Even if I do win, I'll turn myself in, alright? Let's salvage this into a proper duel. God as my witness, win or lose, I will turn myself in to the authorities and we will get this straightened out." He puts his hand on his cross at that. Voice solemn, there's no trickery there. Settling into another combat stance, he nods.

"Come on. Finish me so we can both get on with our lives and forget this debacle."

Taking a deep breath, the man gets his composure going, his wounds lessening as he focuses on the inner dragon.

Slowly getting back on her feet, Chun-li glances up at Walter and grunts, "On what planet are you living on!?" Chun-li says, glaring at him. "Cops don't beat up defenseless people, if you lied down on the ground, I would have just just hand-cuffed you and take you to the station,"

The woman shakes her head, managing to shake off the dizziness for a moment. The sudden burst of violence out of the alley enough to scare the bystanders away and make them rush for cover. Chun-li resumes her combat stance : the draconic man's speech is quite unsettling but Chun-li doesn't seem to believe one bit of it. He was right on one thing -- it's too late to try and make things different... Maybe if he did lie down but since he keeps his fighting stance, she has no choice.

Chun-li quickly closes the distance between her and Walter and she turns the the side. She leans back and starts delivering a flurry of kicks at Walter : up, middle, down, up, middle, down and back and forth with lightning speed. The onslaught of kicks is performed with agility and strength and the moment Chun-li gives the final uprising kick, she quickly spins on her heel, focusing on her inner chi to manifest blue flames into her hands : the moment she finishes her spin and bends low, both of her hands are thrusted foward to send a powerful blast of chi energy straight for Walter's midsection, point blank shot meant to knock him off.

It's Walter's turn to raise a brow. "/Surely/ you jest! Is not South-town home to one of the most corrupt and violent...case in bloody point on the violence here! Stations? Don't insult my intelligence. Maybe /you/ are clean, but I am a little wary of such words!"

Words about police violence done, he's forced to focus. He can do little as she offers a deluge of kicks upon him! Arms, legs, chest, face, he's pelted by those powerful blows as spittle and blood stains the area. Gasping and nearly sobbing from such an assault, he's pushed to barely be on his feet. Then that last attack comes: a spinning kick that lands him on the midsection. Breath forced out, sent flying, he makes a lovely impression in the wall as he then peels off like so much paper.

Thud! Right to the ground. He doesn't rise, seemingly out for the count. After a few shuddering seconds of draconic whines of pain, those wings flap! Sent flying into the air, spear forgotten, another powerful gust from his partially-broken wings sends him flying at her like a tossed spear! Bursting with the last of his golden chi, he's a glowing missile seeking vengeance against the 'oppressive' force before him!

"RAAAAAAWR!" A scream of wild anger, the beast finally unleashed in full.

"Stop this nonsense," Chun-li says as she recovers from her attack, narrowing her eyes into a glare. "You make this hard on yourself needlessly," Chun-li adds. She moves her hands and gets into her fighting stance.

When he seems out of it, Chun-li finally seems to calm down, straightening herself -- about time he gave up. When Walter bursts back into motion, Chun-li barely has the time to brace for his incoming charge. She has to throw herself on her back, a flash of insight to avoid the incoming charge, the draconic man flying pass her and barely grazing her as Chun-li lies on the ground after his enraged dive. That was close, Chun-li thinks to herself. The woman groans and rolls on her side, glancing up toward Walter.

As his attack merely grazes, Walter tumbles into a head-long ground dive. Roll, thud, crash! Right into a trash-can. Upside down, battered and beaten, he looks /terrible/! The stubborn dragon breathes, and even seems conscious...but isn't exactly getting up as he glares in a half-consciouse state at Chun-Li.

"...God, that was humiliating. Oh...damnit, my /wing/ is broken!" Slump. In pain, suffering, and not even given the mercy of passing out, he just lays there.

"You win. Who the bloody hell...are you? Just toss me in the back and let's get this done." For all of the beating, he's fairly certain he can get out of this mess. It'll just mean lots of being yelled at by his superiors in the Holy See.

Walter wants to see what is police brutality? Once he's down for the count, she rushes after Walter's back, pinning him against the wall rather roughly so he stops struggling. She growls and reaches out for Walter's arms, twisting them painfully as she brings them in his back. She takes her handcuffs and and binds Walter against them.

"You have the right to stay silent," Chun-li simply replies with a growl. "I'm taking you back in," She says, holding the draconic man as she holds his arms and forces him out, dragging him out of the alley.
