Description: Contrary to popular belief, not the title for Johnny Cage's new movie. Fulgore's first assignment is to capture Testament; Dead or Alive. So it is only fitting that he does it in Zack's island.
An island paradise is not what Testament would normally consider 'fun'. And really, it's not now, either. But there's a reason he hasn't just left this God-forsaken hot, humid island full of humans who have way too much skin exposed (so quoth Pot to Kettle). Because he's looking for someone! That someone is Ash Crimson.
See, Ash made quite the impression on Testament. And there's something about Ash that he hasn't quite figured out... something that maybe even Ash himself doesn't know. Something that may cast Ash in a far darker light that he might want people to think. Also because Testament rather has this odd liking for being hurt, and Ash manages to do that very well, while at least pretending not to give a crap either way.
So Testament is still here on this island. Following Ash, all but stalking him, looking for the best place and time to approach him. To ask him about that thing that's confused and intrigued him so.
At the moment Testament is taking something of a break, though, having gotten to the island at a time when access to it is usually not possible thanks to the tide being too high. Teleporting is really handy for that sort of thing. Unfortunately palm trees don't exactly have the right kind of branches for him to sit on. So he's sitting on the ground underneath one.
And no, the coconuts have already been pulled off, so no danger of one dropping off and clonking him on the head. He and Zio saw to that. Speaking of his companion, she's in bird form, pecking at the flesh of an opened coconut and drinking the juice inside.
Speaking of stalkers...
Guess who just got one of their own?
Turns out that appearing in a televised fighting event after committing hideous acts of terrorism may not have been the best of ideas. It wasn't long until someone in Ultratech got wind of what was happening in Zach's Island and who exactly was there, and with a certain target sighted it was now time to test their latest piece of weaponry.
Jet engines are heard in the distance growing louder and louder and louder!! Soon it seems that a fighter jet must be flying directly overhead the island and it apparently dropped a bomb, for the sound of a heavy object failing to the ground through the sky is heard next, followed by an explosion of sand as said object lands.
All this quite close to where Testament sits with his raven.
A dark figure emerges from the geyser of sand and walk.. or rather marches.. towards Testament's position with determined steps. It is soon that it is not a man that approaches him, but a dark metallic robot. Glowing red eyes peering out towards the gear and metallic robotic hands stretching and clenching as if it were limbering itself up to start trouble.
<Target acquired.> The machine speaks with a heavily digitized voice. <Analyzing target. Identity match up, ninety-nine percent.>
Seemingly certain that it has the right person that its looking for, the robot seizes up Testament with a look and speaks directly to the wayward Gear.
<Halt! You are under arrest for first degree murder. Assume a prone position, hands behind your back.>
It's pretty safe to say that when an explosion of sand happens very close to where Testament is sitting with his raven, that it's going to cause Testament to not be sitting for very much longer. No, and his raven flies up to the top of the tree, squawking angrily at whatever just ruined her meal. Because sand and coconut juice just don't go together. BLEH!
When the request is made, Testament raises an eyebrow. There's a slight delay, though, between the raise of the brow and him speaking regarding that request however. During which time Testament levels a very clear '...Really?' look at the bird at the top of the tree. Then he looks back to the robot.
"...And if I do 'assume the position', as my friend has instructed me to ask--" Another look at the raven, who seems to be preening its feathers with an almost innocent expression, if indeed birds can have facial expressions. "--What do you intend to do with me then?"
It's hard to tell if there's any reaction from the robot to Testament's innuendo. Mostly due to the fact that it only has one facial expression and is wholly incapable of changing it.
<You will be taken to international authorities where you will receive trial under a court of law. You have the right to remain silent, everything you say can be used against you. If you do not accessibility to a lawyer, one will be provided for you.>
Looks like the average spill from a cop. In fact the robot seems perfectly amicable until it starts getting to the finer print.
<If your resist.> A pair of energy blades appear on each of his hands. <Use of deadly force has been authorized.>
<You have fifteen seconds to comply.>
('No sense of humor, this one.')
('Yes, Zio. That was apparent when he started talking like "Robocop".')
('Well you aren't going to, I assume.')
('Of course not. Let's see if I can turn Robocop here into scrap metal. If not, get ready for a quick escape.')
Exchanges at the speed of thought are really fast, and can happen alongside real-world speech. Which is what happens here. As Fulgore finishes his spiel, Testament smirks. "Let me save you about ten seconds." This said, he digs his nails into his cheek until it bleeds, using the blood to form his scythe.
"No."

That seems to be the wrong answer!
The robot surges into life, almost as if it was now 'angry' with Testament. Again, its hard to tell due to the lack of actually having a face, but red eyes glowing take warning is definitely a sign, as is it stretching its arms to the sides and whirling his plasma blades.
<Safeties disabled. Initiating fighting sequences.>
Something about this robot seems to be just a tad human though. As soon as it finishes activating its systems to be fully operational, the robot apparently cracks its own neck to limber up. Strange, seeing as it probably has metallic joints and all that.
With that said, it still looks fully intent on attacking Testament, particularly when its starts glowing red hot as if it were overheating already.

Intimidation circuits too, it seems! All that neck-cracking. A thing like that isn't going to convince Testament that this lump of metal in front of him is anything more than just that-- a lump of metal. Though whatever it DIDN'T just do, Testament knows that what it DID do was switch to 'EXTERMINATE' mode. Which is bad for him. He needs to get this thing taken out fast.
Though that's not what it LOOKS like he's going to do. It's easy to pass off as just the wind. Testament's hair and kilt ruffle in a breeze, just for a moment. Fulgore might want to watch his feet, since if he's not quick about avoiding it, a DEAD TREE sprouting under his feet might just knock him on his metal behind!

<Exterminate. Exterminate.>
Waddaya know? The robot actually does start saying stuff like that. It seems awfully excited all of the sudden at the prospect of attacking something, though not enough to not realize that Testament is going to put a whole of resistance to his arrest. Fulgore actually looks down when his sensors indicate that there is energy building up under his feet, and jumps back to avoid the worst of the attack, gauntlet arms coming up to his face with an X block to stop the branches of the tree from impaling the armor.
Unable to engage in close quarters combat for the moment, Fulgore starts inching his way towards Testament whilst building up energy on his eyes first. Superheated laser fire erupts from the robot's eyes sailing straight towards Testament's chest, aiming to pin the target down before he can close the distance and take things to more personal levels.

Programmed to 'like' killing people? Well, well. "Looks like we may have more in common than I thought." Testament is really just talking to himself, because he's not really sure he's fighting anything other than a sophisticated robot with a fighting AI installed. But there's something else. This thing... is this what he would have become had the conversion process succeeded the way 'they' wanted?
That just makes him angry. And when Testament gets angry, he gets aggressive. And when he gets aggressive? Things like this happen. What 'this' is meant? Simple. As lasers are being fired at him, he extends his hand as if offering a object to Fulgore.
Except a glowing skull appears in his palm, and begins to swoop almost leisurely in his direction. The lasers chip at the skull, damaging it the teeth, but the thing isn't real. It's chi, and the lasers nip pieces from it, poke holes in it, but it keeps going... at Fulgore!

Perhaps is more than just 'programmed'. Perhaps there is more to the robot's human like gestures than just bugs.
Perhaps.. Testament is more right than he realizes in his assumptions. This robot seems to be nothing more than a killing machine after all, exactly what the Gear project wanted Testament to be. Testament may in fact be fighting a reflection of himself.. of that which could have been.
Fulgore does seem to be nearly as relentless as the Gear he is fighting. The machine walks straight into the flying skull sent at him and fully on blocks it with his chest, marching towards his target still despite the cracks it left on the chest armor. <Minor damage detected. Initiating self-repair. Power still at full capacity. Continue the assault.>
Fulgore, it seems, is tired of keeping things at long distance. Urged by his self analyzes and perhaps taking the full damage of the attack on his torso, the machine erupts into a fast sprint, dashing straight at Testament. He ducks low in some manner of boxing technique to make himself a small target, only surge forward with a right swing of his glowing blue energy blades at Testament's face.

Testament 1/---====/=======|
Maybe it's the quickness with which Fulgore moved-- Testament had been expecting a large, metal monstrosity to move like frozen molasses. Unfortunately for him... it doesn't. In fact it moves with the quickness one should actually expect from something that has wires for tendons and more wires for muscles.
He tries to block, to raise his arms to deflect it. However he discovers very quickly just how bad an idea that really is, because those blades aren't something that one wants to try to block with one's arms. The blades pass neatly through both his upraised arms, severing them both mid-forearm. He emits a surprised, strangled "Agh!", and both severed limbs and the scythe collapse to the ground.
End of the fight, right? When one's quite literally DISARMED so very violently and quickly, that tends to be the end of things. This is about when Testament is supposed to emit a bloodcurdling scream and collapse to the ground, writhing in agony, right? Except that's not what happens.
What happens is that Testament's severed limbs and scythe all three melt into red, messy sludge on the ground. And his arms REGROW, sprouting from the bleeding stumps within a few moments. So does his scythe, forming out of the blood from the wounds. "Right then..." The metallic tone in his voice makes his muttered statement hard to understand. "Those actually ARE light swords." No more blocking those with his hands.
But with both his hands and his scythe back, he launches himself at Fulgore, seeming almost to fly a foot or so off the ground, swinging the scythe down and around himself. As the blade swings, it elongates as if it's liquid-- though yes, it's MADE OF BLOOD, so it kind of is liquid-- and a horrible, skeletal face appears in the blade. If it hits, though, that blade is going to feel just as sharp as... well, as a scythe blade!

Testament 1/--=====/=======|
As much as Fulgore seems to be programmed to 'enjoy' fighting. Its not to the level that could be considered sadism. The robot goes about this with the grim determination of someone that wants to get a chore done. Rest assure though, he does like his job judging by the way he's reacting. There's some intricate curiosity that comes from the machine when Testament's limbs all but fly off as they get cut by his energy blades. His head tilts one way and the other, like a curiously amused animal. Or a child going 'Huh, neat. Didn't know I could do that'.
<Analyzing. Analyzing.> Comes the heavily synthesized voice of the robot as he peers down on the Gear's severed limbs that liquefy into blood. Pausing for just a minute whilst Testament wails in apparent agony in the background at having his arms chopped, wholly oblivious to the Gear's pain. <Unable to analyze.> He finally comes to a conclusion <Retrieving sample for further investigation.>
Fulgore scoops a bit of Testament's blood just in time to whirl around and see the Gear bringing his full might into action. His limbs have grown back! And he's bringing a scythe to bear too.
A few beeping noises come from Fulgore to probably signify a warning and the machine moves with that fluid motion again. He seems built like a tank but moves like a fighter jet. Fulgore dives into the blow and weaves sideways having a good chunk of his back sliced by the scythe. As he dashes inside Testament's guard, he curls his metallic arm around Testament's own forearms to hold Testament in place and look him eye to eye.
Right in place for another dose of beaming eye lasers.
Fulgore discharges a blast of heat vision upon Testament's face a point-blank range, ending by headbutting the Gear with a *KLANK* to drive him back.
Testament is again caught off-guard by the surprisingly quick movements of the war machine. And his reward for underestimating the speed of his opponent here is LASERS TO THE FACE. As well as a headbutt. The former of which he responds to with a short, muffled cry. Fulgore will note a wet squelch with the headbutt. Mainly because the lasers seem to have partially reduced Testament's face to some kind of melted mush. He might also find it tough to see, since there's blood on his face now.
In the moments following that, Testament sort of flails blindly at Fulgore. Because it's kind of hard to see after being lasered in the face! It's unlikely to hit, but at least it should force Fulgore to back up and give Testament room.
Right before he falls over onto his back, still. The raven squawks angrily from the top of the tree, flapping its wings in an agitated way. But that's not the end of the scythe murderer. Right before Fulgore's mechanized eyes, the man's injuries start to regenerate. And soon he... starts to laugh? He is. Testament is laughing as he pulls himself up to his feet again.

Fulgore disengages after the lazors and the headbutt, because it does seem that he now has blood and other bits of flesh smeared all over his face. The cyborg ducks under the flailing strike and then backdashes to reset his stance, metallic face completely covered in blood.
Then a small door opens on his forehead and mini-windshield wipers whir out of the cyborg's head to clean his eyes. Yes, the cybernetic killing machine has mini windshield wipers.
*MEANWHILE AT ULTRATECH INDUSTRIES*
A group of scientists monitoring Fulgore's progress go totally bug eyed and start looking at each other.
"Who in the--? Who installed that??"
*BACK AT THE FIGHT*
With a face that is now sparkly clean from blood, the cyborg peers at Testament's mutilated face with that same seemingly puzzled expression from before. <Hit confirmed.> He says to himself, apparently wondering if Testament is down and out. <Kill not confirmed.> Continues the robot once Testament proves his endurance as he begins to regenerate. Fulgore's energy blades come to light again and he dives at Testament, ready to drive his energy blades into Testament's chest whilst he's busy laughing. He even has a warcry!

And one of those blades do hit home, with a satisfying feeling of a laser blade slicing through flesh, cutting the laugh off with a "Hrk!" But Testament manages to sidestep the other blade. Not only that, he reaches out and LIFTS Fulgore off the ground! He looks right at Fulgore's now squeaky clean visor... and grins broadly.
"Your little tin soldier fights well." Because he knows damn good and well no one sends a murderbot after someone and doesn't watch the footage. "You will be next, 'Ultratech'." And then suddenly... he gives them something to look at. In a red flash, his face suddenly seems to look like a skull... just as the nails on the hand he's lifted Fulgore with elongate! And then he turns, tossing Fulgore away from him. The motion would dislodge that blade, if it had not already been pulled loose.
*ULTRATECH INDUSTRIES*
A bunch of scientists are flipping out at what they are seeing.
"You idiots! Who in their right mind installed that nonsense!!? Now that psychopath knows who we are!"
Desperate keyboard clicking follows that cry as the scientists desperately do what they can to set all of Fulgore's in overdrive. "Hit him with everything we got! I want that man vaporized from the face of the planet!"
*BACK AT THE FIGHT*
Fulgore runs into a bit of double penetration when his blades drive into Testament, only to end up impaled himself on the Gear's elongated nails. Strangely, though ends up being lifted by the Gear and forced to stare into the stuff that nightmares are made of, he looks... satisfied. Then again, Fulgore is wholly incapable of changing facial expression, so who knows?
When he's flung, the cyborg does a forward roll to bring himself back to his feet quickly and spins on his heel to face Testament again. His kill switch has been triggered and he's now clearly going all out.
He archs his body back, red eyes glowing, and begins to discharge wave after wave of super heated eye lazers at the Gear.

The glow of those red eyes is a clue that something big is coming his way. And Testament is not to be disappointed. More lasers! LOTS more lasers, in fact; enough to damn near burn several layers of his skin clean off. The area's going to be really damaged after all that. Probably just as much as Testament is! Except Testament can regenerate. Which he begins doing quickly. Though, Fulgore might note a delay here. It's as if his regeneration can no longer keep up with the damage that's being done to him.
But it looks like Fulgore's not the only one going, well, FULL BORE. Clear when he raises a hand into the air, clenches the hand into a fist, and then draws himself down, doubling over as if he's gathering his power. Then two things happen. A portal appears before him, purple and arcane, and he growls, "NIGHTMARE CIRCULAR!"
And then suddenly there's a skull and claws made of blood-- POISONED blood, mind you-- coming at Fulgore out of that portal! It's not one of those tiny skulls from before, no. This is a MASSIVE skull and claws that seek to bite and scratch!

Lazors. Lazors. And more Lazors!! Its almost like Fulgore has absolutely no control over his own actions and is just spamming the same move over and over out of desperation.
Because that would be completely right!
Behind of scenes a team of Ultratech scientists are mashing all the keys forcing Fulgore to forgo all sense of tactics and blast his opponent with every drop of energy he's got.
Even the massive sight of a GIANT RED SKULL flying at him does little more than give him brief pause. Fulgore brings his plasma blades up for a full boxing guard and takes the blow on his metallic forearms, pushing back against the energy projectile with his whole body to push through.
When he emerges, Testament better be prepared for the mother of all lasers. Fulgore's chest cavity opens to reveal a glowing red source of energy. This might be quite the terrifying thing to see for those in know.
Since that is an honest to goodness Nuclear Reactor that Fulgore is now pointing at Testament.

That is a really big laser. There's not much Testament can do, since he sadly does not have the ability to move faster than light. All he can do is try to use some of that blood to form into a shield. Which, ultimately, is about as useful as a shield made of tissue paper! The heat burns the blood away easily... and then the skin behind it. Down into the muscle, to the bone.
By the time it's all said and done, his ulnas and radii (radiuses?) are peeking quite cheekily out of the burned skin of the underside of his arms, his ribs can LITERALLY be seen on one side of his body, and his kneecaps are poking out. The scythe is gone. He takes a step... and stumbles to his knees, his legs abruptly going out from under him. And that regeneration is extremely slow now. Clearly he's exhausted his strength.
Mostly.
Just as it looks like he's just going to go peacefully into submission for Fulgore to arrest-- or murder, whichever mode happens to be active-- there's a last surge of strength from him, arising more from anger than anything else given the snarl, that pulls him to his feet one last time. The scythe is remade from the blood that's leaking from his still-injured body.
But it's not left like that to just slash Fulgore. The shape of the scythe shifts, into a key, which Testament attempts to ram into Fulgore's torso, twist viciously, and then yank free. It's a half-hearted attempt, mainly more flailing in anger than an actual focused attack. He's just injured too much, too much energy used-- between the energy he's been using to fling blood at Fulgore and having to regenerate the otherwise maiming attacks against him.
COMBATSYS: Fulgore blocks Testament's Master of Puppets.

Testament 0/-------/-------|>------\-------\0 Fulgore
<Hit confirmed.>
Fulgore breaks the silence that comes after the devastation of his aptly named beam brought. The landscape behind Testament would have probably been incinerated beyond recognition had Testament not valiantly taken the hit for it. Zach will surely be very thankful.
The cyborg shuts his chest cavity and marches towards the fallen Gear, his steps somewhat not as determined as they once were. He stands tall as always, but moves slower, sluggishly, short circuits visible with his every step. Shooting that beam must have really taken it out of him, and with good reason since he just willingly detonated a nuclear bomb inside him.
So it might be understandable that even a seemingly soulless cyborg like Fulgore is surprised when Testament still flies at him in a desperate attempt to attack him. Fulgore brings his gauntlets to the center to block, minimized must of the impact but having his metallic front ripped despite his best efforts.
The robot backpedals and stops, staring at Testament.. it even seems to blink.
<Systems operating at minimal level. Damage critical. Withdrawing.>
Wait what?
*BACK AT ULTRATECH*
"Wait what!!?"
"What is he doing!? Stop him!"
"It.. it must be a fail safe! I can't make him stay in the fight!"
Fulgore seems to have had enough of this crap. He takes a few steps back and vanishes from sight. Testament might realize that the cyborg has simply become invisible, but at that might it might be too late to stop him.
COMBATSYS: Fulgore takes no action.

Testament 0/-------/-------|=------\-------\0 Fulgore
Whether or not Fulgore has left or merely made himself invisible, that area is no longer safe, and Testament knows it. He's weakened and not able to defend himself for much longer. And that 'withdrawing from battle' thing might just be a distraction tactic. Testament is not about to stick around long enough to find out.
As she's connected to him mentally, the bird swoops down from the tree and alights on Testament's shoulder before he enacts his plan. And what is his plan? Leg it, of course. That's usually the better idea when faced with a killer robot. But just in case the people controlling and/or watching this fight aren't paying attention, Testament gives them a reason to.
"Enjoy your victory while you can," he hisses quietly. "When I catch you, ALL of you will choke on your own blood." At least he's not going into a several minute long rant/monologue about Ultratech 'rueing the day it crossed him'. That quietude in his voice and manner just makes it more likely that he intends to follow through with it.
That seems to be all he wants to say. Because in the next moment the scattered blood begins to pull itself towards him. He's visibly concentrating. Once it's gathered in a puddle around him, he throws his head back with a roar, and the blood pulls itself up, obscuring him and his bird companion behind creepily-stretched screaming faces made of blood. His roar fades, and the blood falls...
And he's gone.
