Description: May finds herself being chased by a trio of scurvy dogs that are after her booty!! Fortunately, a real sailor comes to her aid and rescues her from the horrors of Child Services with some well placed lightning. Arr har har har!
It'd be kind of an unusual sight... if the majority of the population were aware of it. A very tall Chinese man, wearing a conical hat, dressed in white and blue. It's not his presence that's strange (though maybe that's weird too, since his very presence seems to lack any trace of 'modernness'). It's where he's standing. He's standing on the roof of a building. A REALLY TALL building. One that lacks an external fire escape.
He stands with his hands behind his back, gaze trained expectantly in a certain direction. He waits for something. More specifically, for Nightwolf to return from his match. That woman who had made the awful performance had challenged Nightwolf to Kombat, and the Apache had accepted. He'd probably been right to encourage Raiden not to accompany him-- there would likely be cameras, and his presence with Nightwolf would be marked. And they were still waiting for the aftermath of the match between 'Lei Gong' and Rugal Bernstein, and didn't know whether it was going to work for or against them.
So instead of going to the station to spectate, Raiden stands watching from afar. Figuratively speaking. Even he can't see the fight from here. Instead he waits silently for the outcome. It'd be strange if the woman wanted to KILL Nightwolf over his letter. It was disparaging, but they were only words...
There is little time left to ponder in the life of a pirate. Unless you're stuck in the middle of the ocean drifting away, or marooned in a deserted island, or passed out in a tavern.. okay, maybe there are a few times where it is safe to stand still and ponder, but this is not one of them!
Nay! When pirates are on shore there is bound to be trouble, and even deities cannot be fully save from the scoundrels of the sea. As the God of Thunder watches the placid realm of Earth from the safety of a tall, tall building, his vigilant gaze would no doubt notice the commotion that is brewin way down below him like the benevolent God that he is.
Down in the quiet streets of the village outside Southtown, screams of surprise are heard as the people move away from an incoming storm of dust. The culprit; a small girl running at top speed across the streets, hauling a massive piece of metal over her shoulder and carrying a bag on the other.
She appears to be being chased by a number of people screaming for her to stop.
What could be troubling Earthrealm this time?
So Raiden's quiet reflections are disturbed-- the mortal world moves fast; blink and a lifetime is passed. Less metaphysically, what the heck is that? Raiden turns his gaze in that direction. He can see the girl, and her pursuers. That's really all he's concerned about. Multiple grown men have no business chasing a child down the street, no matter what their purpose is. He frowns... and then his body crackles with blue-white electricity. A moment later, it melts into the energy as his form seems to lose cohesion, disappearing from the top of his hat down.
And then...
On the streets where the girl is being pursued, there is suddenly lightning. So much lightning. Aimed between the girl and her pursuers. It's not aimed to hit any of them. But it strikes the ground... and continues striking! It's not a freak storm. It's a beam of lightning, from above. And then the form of the thunder god reforms from the lightning.
The commotion down in the streets comes to a screeching halt! People sort of have to stop when there's sudden LIGHTNING BOLTS coming from the sky and hitting the ground just a few feet away from them. Cries of "AAAH!" and "Oh what now!!?" are said with fright and exasperation as a trio of men, two dressed in suits and one dressed in blue uniform stop right in front of the Thunder God, staring in confusion, anger and frustration.
Meanwhile, right behind Raiden, the girl that was making a quick get away decides to run back towards the conflict for some reason.
"Arrr!!" Yells the strange little girl hauling the large piece of metal and a bag.
May looks up at Raiden in curiosity and notices a few things. Conical hat, white robes, sandals, the smell of sea about him. He's a fisherman!
And fishermen and pirates have to stick together, right!?
"Avast!" Yells May as she suddenly reasons this guy must be on her side. "Come no further, scurvy dogs!! Try and board us and ye'll be tasting our sabers!! Yarr!"
The trio of men, some of them looking short of breath having been chasing May for quite a while now shake their head. One of them begins walking towards them in an attempt to explain things. "Sir, don't interfere please, this orphan is just--"
And then he gets interrupted by the angry burly police man "Shaddap and get outta the way, buddy! This punk kid is coming with us! I've been chasing her for miles and I ain't letting another one of her cosplaying friends with a straw hat stop me this time!"
Raiden pauses at the girl's statement. He turns his head to regard her with a raised brow. What even the heck did she say? Sounded like a warning, anyway. For now, the girl seems to have thrown in her lot on his side, so Raiden turns his gaze back to the girl's pursuers.
There's that word again-- 'cosplay'. And he still hasn't figured out what it means. But again, he recognizes the word 'play'. "This is no game I play," he states flatly, to the rude one.
As for being an orphan? Even worse! "Three men pursue an orphaned girl-child through the streets? Do you think she would not be missed? Is this what the people of Earthrealm have fallen to?" Yes, he's implying something horrible. He's implying ALL of the horrible things! That's just it, they could be trying to catch her for any reason. He legitimately has no idea who they are, and it looks HORRIBLE from the outside.
Raiden isn't the only one confused by someone's particular choice of words. When the Thunder God turns on the phonetics and addresses the trio before him like he just came out of Dynasty time China, the men look at each with horrific disbelief.
"Oh noooo!" Groans the policeman and holds his face. "She really did get another to cosplay with her!!" Fully believing that Raiden is following along May's schemes of pretending she's an authentic pirate recruiting people for her crew, they immediately deem that there is no choice but to barrel through him. Because he's clearly just as insane as May and needs to be in a mental institution. Is seriously no one sane in this world anymore??
"That's it!" Cries the policeman who is clearly the more aggressive of the trio. "I'm taking you out and then taking this girl, because I'm sick and tired of dealing with you crazed types!"
Wasting no more time he dashes at Raiden and May with the two other social workers chasing after him.

"Unwise." It's the only warning Raiden gives before they come charging in. Though only because that's the only thing he even gets a CHANCE to say. And the first to reach him? By some chance it's the rude one, the one with the blue uniform. Raiden can see instantly that the burly man is a fighter, whereas the other two may not be quite so used to it. Thus he is deemed the greater threat.
However, Raiden is also wise enough to know that these are probably not people to be eliminated with extreme prejudice. They're also human, and he dislikes harming humans unless they are beyond help. And these men aren't like Rugal. The thunder god does not feel that same aura of darkness and death seeking to consume all around it.
So for the time being he merely extends a hand sharply, maneuvering it so that the policeman will run into the heel of his hand. The result is an attempt at an open-handed strike.

It feels like literally running into a brick wall.
"AAGGH!!" The Policeman snarls in pain as he runs straight into Raiden's palm heel strike colliding with his nose. Raiden could try and be as gentle as he wanted, it still did not change that these were just mere mortals that just got punched by a literal God. Blood pours freely from the Policeman as he reels back in pain and he lowers his torso to look down, holding his face. The two socialworkers with him looking totally speechless.
"Holy shit, you're bleeding!"
"I know I'm bleeding!!!" Answers the Policeman back and takes out his nightstick pointing it at the Thunder God. "That's it! I'm taking you in too!!"
Fueled by the frustration of having been chasing May for what is likely days and coming so close just to get another crazy guy get in his way, the policeman charges in an attempt to deliver a solid blow on Raiden's head with his tonfa.
The other two Social Workers dive in to help, and while its certain they aren't as great fighters as the cop helping them, they aren't completely helpless either. One of them launches at Raiden from the right side for a one-two combo, while the another hangs back and actually fires a small chi blast at the Thunder God.

Raiden's attention is occupied with the policeman and the other social worker. He doesn't see the chi blast coming at him until it's too late to block. He tries to dodge, but it impacts his chest, staggering him. This leaves him open for the policeman to strike cleanly with the nightstick, and he staggers back again. Surely just a cosplayer, then, with some weird Shaolin monk theme. Though why a Shaolin monk with a pirate is anybody's guess.
Except as the one-two combo comes at the man, his frame surges with lightning. A hand is brought up as the first hit comes, and as it strikes, Raiden's hand strikes out as well, heel of his hand impacting the socialworker's face. He follows through, striking the man with a second open-handed strike, and then swinging the hand that had made the first strike forward again.
But instead of making a third strike, a blast of lightning explodes from his palm. It's strong enough to knock the social worker back. He's still holding back, though. He doesn't want to kill these humans. Even if they did have the affrontery to strike him.
Something of note. There's a trickle of blood from the corner of his mouth. Appears he bit the inside of his cheek. It's not normal blood though. It's BLUE.
Its clearly the Nirvana express! One is a ruthless pirate and the other is a monk! There can be no other explanation for it.
Not that explanations matter much for the people that are currently locked in melee with the Thunder God. Sure, the chi strike connects and the Cop gets the satisfying feel of hitting him on the top of his conical hat with his tonfa, but as the third man comes in to strike at Raiden he gets punched twice in the face for his efforts before being BLASTED AWAY through a store, and then out of the store, and into a fruit cart, screaming all the way. Why a fruit cart? Because you always land on those when getting punched through walls.
"You gotta be freaking kidding me!" The Cop glances back at the human shaped hole the Social Worker just got tossed through and as he turns back he relentlessly keeps attacking Raiden, too clouded by desperate anger to notice the blue blood staining the man.
"Eat this, you bastard!" Cries the Cop and swings his tonfa at Raiden's temple, while the remaining Social Worker is coming in with a flying kick to Raiden's other side. The guy that got punched through a wall is going to need a moment to recover from the looks of it.

Somewhere from the other side of that human-shaped hole the first socialworker has been tossed through, a forlorn voice cries out, "MY ORANGES!"
Back in the fight? Raiden really did think the show of strength would make the group stop attacking him. He had even started to shift out of hit battle stance, when... BAM! The tonfa struck him in the temple, turning his head sharply to the side. He manages to recover quickly enough to block the flying kick, however.
Again his frame surges with lightning. And this time his eyes spark, and he bares his teeth. That's not a good sign to anyone who happens to be facing him. That's a sign that he's angry. "...Do you purposely seek to anger me?" he growls. There's a spark in his lightning field. And then...
There is suddenly a very large, angry, gibberish-shouting Thunder God flying at them, a straight line plotted to 'scoop up' both of them in the attack's effect radius. It isn't just a long ragen attack. It's a looooooooooooooooooooooooong range attack!

One moment the Cop and the Social Worker are ganging up on the man with the conical hat.
And then they are both getting pushed backwards by a man that is literally flying as he scoops both of them up and tosses them backwards making them skid across the pavement. They are certain that the man surely said some kind of intriguing technique name to accompany his attack, but to them, as they were getting tossed like rag dolls, it just kind of sounded like.
'ALLIBABALAYAHAAAA!' Or something like that.
Regardless of whether or not they could make out what the Thunder God was saying, both the Cop and the Social Worker get blasted backwards with an electric shock and they roll several times until friction finally forces them to come to a stop. They begin to stand up with a wobble, shaking their heads and brushing their limbs. "This guy..." The Cop says in disbelief. "This guy... this really can't be happening." It almost looks like he's about to cry. "I was so close to finally catching her!"
And speaking of, May is still behind Raiden making faces at the Cop and his Social Worker buddies.
"GRAAAAAH!!" May's taunts work perfectly as the Cop goes into what can only possibly a suicide charge. The other Social Worker gets up too followed by the third one that comes back out from the hole in the wall whilst brushing fruit out of his suit.
This girl.. she must have really done something to them because they are just not going to quit until they grab her, and all three of them attack Raiden again, seeking to just dog pile him and punch, and kick, and bash him until he somehow goes down.

Raiden seems to bounce off the very air as he drops the policeman and the second socialworker, sailing back in a tumbling backflip that lands him perfectly on his feet as if he'd merely jumped down from a few feet above. Raiden is unaware of May's taunts, however he's ready for the incoming dogpile. And as they leap, he is suddenly...
...Not there.
Suddenly Raiden is behind them as they miss their planned dogpile. Hopefully they'll end up in a heap together, so his lightning will strike all three. Still holding back, though... humanity has grown stronger, but he's not willing to take the chance of killing these people.
Hit or miss, Raiden instructs, "Surrender. You have no chance against the God of Thunder."

The Policeman and the two Social Workers come down with blinding rage upon Raiden, punching and kicking and hitting.. nothing but air!?
"WHAT!?" Yells one of them, it doesn't matter who really, could be all three at the same time for all it matters when they have literal lighting hitting them on their backs and electrocuting the bejeezus outta them. The trio scream in agony as limbs flail about wildly and they fall to their knees shortly after, groaning in both pain and exhaustion.
Any other day it would have been laughable to hear someone tell them to 'Surrender' because he is 'The God of Thunder', but after seeing and, more importantly, experiencing all they've had, the trio aren't so sure this guy is a cosplayer anymore.
"Maybe.." Coughs one of the charred Social Workers, his hair on end and his suit burnt nearly to a cinder. "Maybe we should uh... call for back up or something..?"
"This guy is kind of kicking our asses." Agrees the other Social Worker.
"No!!" The Policeman, adamant to the bitter end, refuses to be defeated and /stands up/ yet again. "I'm not going back without that freaking girl!!" Never mind that said girl is actually right behind them just now and they could easily turn around to snatch her. Raiden would probably not let them though which makes it a moot point.
"GET HIM!!" Calls the remarkably durable Policeman as he rallies his two cohorts for another headless charge, the Cop bringing his tonfa up high for a flurry of attacks while the other two Social Workers swallow their fear and attack the God of Thunder with fists covered in chi!

Well, there is one thing at least, Raiden realizes. That man in the blue uniform will be a staunch fighter for Earthrealm if Outworld does decide to invade. Even if he's chasing little girls, he probably wants to protect his livelihood. So he'll be fighting just this hard-- maybe even harder-- to keep his world safe. For that alone, Raiden can't find it in himself to really dislike him. Even if the man's the most bullheaded human he's ever met.
Suddenly the three are coordinating their attacks. Raiden shifts to a defensive stance quickly. But the attacks are fierce, powered by chi and that indefinable something that humans have that makes them so damn hard to truly defeat. If it wasn't aimed RIGHT AT HIM, it would be endearing to see. It actually is a little bit anyway.
The strength of the men attacking him seems to give HIM strength. And he teleports out from under the barrage of blows. Quite a bit worse for wear. But nonetheless, he reappears between the men and May. "Enough." He isn't angry. His voice is almost... fond? Maybe, weirdly enough. "If YOU will not end this... I will end it. Before you are killed."
Then Raiden throws his arms into the air. Lightning strikes the palms, rushing around his form. He absorbs it. More and more and more, the lightning around him becoming brighter... brighter... brighter. So much that he seems to actually be in pain. A wince forms on his face as he absorbs more and more lightning.
And then with a loud cry, he throws his arms out to his sides, unleashing the lightning in a wild burst. It should dissipate just enough not to kill the men completely. But if it hits them, it's still going to hurt majorly. But that's not all...
Hit or miss, the blast seems to tear Raiden's form apart, the lightning normally crackling across his body cutting into him as surely as if they'd been blades. It's not pretty. Sprays of that blue blood paint the ground, sizzling away to nothing on the asphalt, and the Thunder God just... melts away. The air is still charged, however-- he's not gone.

This truly is the indomitable spirit of humanity. The will to never ever surrender no matter the odds. Not even if they've gotten punched through walls, electrocuted, bashed apart, and taunted mercilessly by pirate girls, these trio of seemingly random people actually managed to stand up to a God and actually hurt him a little bit. Perhaps, if they somehow manage to know Raiden's real identity, they can recall this moment in their life fondly..
Rather than total embarrassment of getting punked by one guy wearing a conical hat.
Because that's how it's feeling to them right now.
The trio of attackers all but break themselves against the Godly defenses of Raiden, doing their absolutely best to somehow get through. Just as it seems like they might actually be doing some progress, Raiden teleports again and away from them.
They do not heed the Thunder God's words of warning. This pirate girl has really eluded them for that long that they are willing to risk everything to get past a God of Thunder to get at her. They continue their charge directly at him..
And straight into his kamikaze explosion that consumes him.
The trio are consumed with giant blazing, blindingly white energy. It lasts a mere second or two, but it engulfs them completely and they drop on the ground looking completely grey, and perhaps a little bit of blue due to splatters of Raiden's blood falling on them.
On the other hand, May seems to be just fine, as she had been hiding all through the fight. A real pirate knows where to pick her battles.
"Arr har har!!" She jumps out and stands where the fallen men lay, twitching and mostly unconscious. "Ye land lubbers got keelhauled by a real sea dog!!" She berates them, poking them while they are down. "That means yer ripe for plunder, me hearties!! I'll be taking yer booty!!"
Quickly and with much trained practice, May rumages through the Social Workers and Policeman's pockets, stealing all their money. These guys are definitely going to get back up, but by the time they do, May is going to be well on her way to the other side of the city, away from their clutches.

Shortly after May makes her escape, the heroic, and yet stubbornly reckless cop manages to struggle back to his feet. "Urgg... fuck me..." He swears as he starts radioing for help.
"Come in, command... I need... back up..." Better late than never I guess.
It wasn't just lightning that hit them. It was chi. And something else-- memories. The social workers may remember it when they wake. The policeman almost definitely will remember it. In fact, he can probably still see them, the memories that burned across his mind like the lightning across his body.
~* Lightning flash, thunder crash! A monstrous lightning bolt lances down. Inside a temple. Managing not to destroy it, since the roof is open. The lightning leaves something behind where there once was nothing. The man in the conical hat. He seems to take shape from the lightning itself, and the lightning is absorbed into his body. *~
Across the city, May will note something. The air is charged once again, as it was when that man with the pointy hat was fighting. And then there is a lightning strike-- somehow missing the dumpster nearby. The strike 'drops' something there. Guess who? Except he doesn't stand strong as he did before. He immediately stumbles, giving a choked, "Gyuh..." and falls to a knee. The lightning jumps over him spasmodically before dying out completely. He's panting. But at least he doesn't seem to be bleeding. Not visibly anyway.
