Rocket - Metro Express Pt. 2: Girl on Girl

Description: A few weeks after her first trip to the local underground club (but a while before getting sent to Japan), Rocket goes to meet her friend there once more. She's in for a surprise, though, as this time, Mimiru wants Rocket for herself. She may have been able to endure the Mountain, but can Rocket handle Mimiru's fists? Todd from Shipping gets to watch.

A few weeks have passed and the fights have been growing more intense every time -- after all, the crowd has been showing much adoration toward Rocket who has become a new favorite with her new and unique fighting style. It was like the flavor of the month, after all...

The crowd was cheering and every fight came with a new thrill as new opponents gave her new and different experience every time. Much as Mimiru had predicted, Rocket had shown to be quite a prodigy.

Another week meant another fight, but this time, things would be quite different for Rocket. Another new opponent, something quite unexpected...

Rocket is dressed in what has become a staple outfit for her when it comes to the fight club. Besides a short tank-top with a picture of a panda on the front and her lucky Houston Rockets ball-cap, she's also wearing a set of skating shorts that have protective padding on the hips and tailbone regions, besides the usual gear for rollerblading - elbow pads, knee pads, and the skates themselves. Not a helmet, though. Those just look dorky.

"...Yeah, you should have seen the way I finished off the last guy. I was straddling him, just pounding him as hard as I could. I didn't even realise he was done for a minute, till they pulled me off of him," Rocket is telling fellow employee Todd from Metro Express as they reach the entrance to the underground fight club. Somehow, it's still not clear to Todd that it's not a sex club that he's being led into, nor is it clear to Rocket that he thinks it is. He's chickened out on the last couple of invitations to watch for that reason, but now he's finally agreed to at least check it out.

"Wow. You, uhh... really get carried away with this stuff, huh?"

"Uhhh, maybe a little? I guess I kind of have a lot of this pent-up energy..."

There's already quite a crowd gathered around the circular improvised fighting ring. There has been minor fights going on, some entertainment to get the crowd pumped up. Of course, what they've been looking for is the moment Rocket will enter the ring.

As Rocket passes through, those who recognizes her gives her tap in the back and cheers for her, quite eager to see what will happen next.

When Rocket makes her way to the side, the man in charge greets her with a fist bump, "Ready for your fight, Rocket? Ahah, the crowd's all heated up for you... But tonight, I think you're going to have a rough time," The man says with a wicked smile. "You've got a surprise opponent... Anyway, enough talk... You're on now.." He says, gesturing his hand for Rocket to go into the fighting ring.

"Wait... this is a fight club? You've been talking about fighting this whole time?" Todd from Shipping turns to Rocket questioningly, blinking a couple of times.

"Yeah duh! What did you think I was talking about?" Rocket says, giving back an incredulous look before turning back to the fight coordinator. "Oh, is it time for me already? Too bad Mimiru's not here for this, she said she'd meet us here," Rocket says with a sigh, before shrugging her shoulders helplessly. "Oh well. Wish me luck, Todd!"

She skates between the poles surrounding the fighting ring, ducking under the chain separating the crowd from the action. Once she's in the ring, she raises a hand with a victory V to the spectators as the announcer introduces her.

"And for our next match, the first contestant is none other than the 'Queen of Blades...' Rocket O'Reilly!"

For his part, Todd actually looks relieved, but still a bit awkward as he takes a spot amongst the spectators, his view blocked by some of the rougher, more rabid crowd.

COMBATSYS: Rocket has started a fight here.

After the cheers from the crowd and everything Rocket did to actually bolster their encouragement, the announcer introduces the challenger.

"And tonight, we're having a very special someone up against the Queen of Blades! The Stray Dog of Southtown, Miiiimiru Kasagi!" The man shouts, turning on his heels to gesture with one hand at the other corner.

Some of the crowd seems to react with passion at the introduction of the other girl while some did not have the chance to see her fighting during the past month.

Unlike Rocket, Mimiru doesn't give the crowd a similar display of charisma : hands in her front pocket, the pink haired girl has a wide wicked smile on her lips as she approaches the center of the ring.

COMBATSYS: Mimiru has joined the fight here.

Once she's been announced, Rocket skates off to one side of the ring, giving a wave to the nearby fans before spinning back around to face her opponent and dropping into a Kenpo-on-rollerblades stance, keeping one hand low and forward with the other held back slightly, both open with the fingers spread. She's got a ready grin on her face - one that disappears the moment she realises who she's facing. She blinks a couple of times when Mimiru steps up toward the center of the ring.

"Wait, what? Mimi?"

The expression on her face is stunned as she stares at her friend, her green eyes wide. A little of the bounce leaves her stance for a moment.

"Are we seriously gonna fight each other now? I don't wanna knock you out!"

Meanwhile, in the audience, having heard the fighters' introductions, Todd tries to push his way up to the front to get a better view, apologizing politely as he bumps into people until he gets to the edge of the rings. And then he's got that awkward look again. With both of his co-workers competing, who's he supposed to cheer for?

Mimiru nonchalantly pulls her hands out of pocket. Unlike Rocket, Mimiru knew she was going to fight her -- in fact, the moment she had introduced her to this sort of life style, Mimiru knew this time would come.

She wanted a worthy opponent, and Rocket had proven to be quite a capable fighter. It was time to see how those few fights had shaped her.

"Seriously?" Mimiru answers, "You thought I would have brought you here if I didn't think you had some sort of talent? Or wasn't able to see this?" Mimiru says. Her lips curl into a wide grin and Mimiru says, "You better not underestimate me, girl, 'cause I've been fighting a /lot/ longer than you have..."

To prove her point, Mimiru's chi flares up in both of her arms, the crimson flames engulfing both of her forearms. "Let's see who's ass gonna be sore tonight!" Mimiru shouts.

She lifts both of her arms up in front of her in a cross and she slashes both arms foward in front of her, hurling a large X-shaped flame of chi in Rocket's direction.

COMBATSYS: Mimiru successfully hits Rocket with Balefire.

Rocket's green eyes go wide, the red glow of the cross-shaped attack reflecting in them. There's no doubt in her mind now that her friend is dead serious about this battle, which means that Rocket had better be serious, too. Her eyes narrow as she brings her arms and one of her knees up, trying to let her protective pads absorb the brunt of the flaming attack.

Unfortunately, it's more heat than she can handle - the sudden burning sensation causes her to cry out, her arms and legs going akimbo as the crimson energy breaks through her guard and slams across her chest, singing her shirt in an X pattern. The impact of the blast sends her flying back into the chains at the edge of the rings, her shoulders caught by a couple of the members of the audience before she's pushed back toward the center of the ring.

Regaining her balance and tugging her ballcap on straighter, Rocket glares at Mimiru. Not with anger, but with determination. Friends or not, it's time to show her fighting spirit.

"Alright, you asked for it!"

Skating in fast, she aims to grab onto Mimiru's shoulders and pull herself up onto them, with her legs around the other girl's neck. If she gets up there, she'll try and throw a couple of punches at the pink-haired girl's head before swinging her body backward, releasing the grip of her thighs and throwing Mimiru across the ring.

The crowd is starting to roar already as the action is turning immediately explosive. However, one awkward voice can be heard above the noise.

"Uhhh, you go girls! Have fun!"

COMBATSYS: Mimiru blocks Rocket's Rocket Rana.

Mimiru           0/-------/-----==|=====--\-------\0           Rocket

Obviously Mimiru did not intend on giving Rocket any quarter in this fight. She had unleashed a powerful surge of chi at Rocket : an obvious warning that Mimiru was not going to go easy and Rocket was better off not holding back.

It wasn't every week that the crowd had the chance to see a fight against two persons who were able to create and manipulate chi like this. The flames from Mimiru's arms slowly fade away, staring at Rocket to see how she's going.

Noticing the glare, Mimiru slowly gets into her combat stance, her lips curled into a wicked grin, "Bring it on!" She taunts, gesturing for her to come at her with her hand.

Mimiru had fought her enough to know Rocket would have the speed on her, and even as she turns around and tries to keep her in sight at all time, Rocket manages to slip behind her. Instead of trying to break free, she moves her arms over her head to cover hersefl as she grips herself around her and punches her head. Thankfully, her arms soften the blows and when Rocket throws her off, Mimiru's body lets Rocket throw her, using the momentum to roll with it and absorb a part of the impact.

She rolls on her back and swiftly get back on her feet. A blast of white flames under Mimiru's feet hurl her back at Rocket. Her legs seem set ablaze by the flames, leaving a short trail of flames as she hurls her leg upward toward Rocket's midsection.

The impact is probably enough to send Rocket flying up, and Mimiru quickly jumps up, bringing both of her hands together over her head. She swings her joined fist down at Rocket, attempting to hammer her and smash her down to the ground.

COMBATSYS: Mimiru successfully hits Rocket with Heaven's Diminisher.

Mimiru           0/-------/----===|=======\=------\1           Rocket

Having been the one to launch Rocket's fighting career, it is perhaps only appropriate that Mimiru becomes the one to launch Rocket herself - straight up into the air. The smaller girl tries to skate out of the way of the attack, but Mimiru is too fast, and the blazing limb slams into Rocket's exposed stomach with a sizzling thud. The girl is sent flying helplessly into the air, only to be sent hurtling back to the concrete floor as the follow-up double-fisted smash from Mimiru collides with her back. She lands on her stomach, the impact driving the wind out of her, and lets out a pained groan.

There's no time to dwell on the aching all over her torso, though. The fight isn't over. Rocket isn't finished. And while she may have every right to be in pain right now, the adrenalin running through her body won't let her feel it just yet. Tumbling backward on the ground before rolling to her feet, Rocket brings both hands up, her own flaming blue energy gathering in her palms.

"This one's for you Mimi! SUPER ROCKET SHOT!"

As she brings her hands together, a blue bolt of energy flies forth from them, aimed at the pink-haired girl. The blast sends Rocket skidding backwards toward the chains at the edge of the ring.

"You can do it Mimiru! I mean Rocket! Jeez, I hope they don't kill each other..."

COMBATSYS: Mimiru has left the fight here.

After the few fights Rocket had in the fighting ring, Mimiru thought it was about time to teach Rocket a very important lesson in fighting... One that Mimiru learned a long time ago in her youth : no matter how great you think you are, there's always someone more skilled than you are.

Mimiru's eyes widen as she notices Rocket recovers much more quickly than she expected. The pink haired girl reacts by instinct, her body shifting rapidly into a defensive posture as she inclines her body back, tumbling backward to avoid the blast of flames that sends Rocket flying back. Mimiru rolls into her back, ending up on her knees, barely avoiding the blue bolt of crackling energy...

Unfortunately, what Mimiru didn't think of when she reacted was that it meant that the crowd behind her would get it all -- and indeed, this is just what happens : the blast of energy going straight for the crowd who didn't expect this, which ends up smashing five of the persons near the chains, knocking them back and sending them flying. Unlike Mimiru or Rocket, those persons had little training and were in no position to avoid the lightning bolt, which causes a small hole in the crowd as people falls like dominos...

For the rest of the crowd though, this was just even better. Things were getting heated and they cheer and scream even louder. Poor Todd probably ended up getting blasted or had some people crumble on him. Mimiru spares a glance back, and then back at Rocket. She straightens herself up, "You almost got me there... Almost, but I'm not like the others you fought, Rocket... You have to learn you're a small fish in a big lake," She taunts.

Mimiru lifts her hand up, gesturing with her fingers, "Come on, Rocket, hit me with all you've got..."

COMBATSYS: Mimiru takes no action.

A member of the audience is there to catch Rocket when she slides into the chain-link barrier around the fighting ring. A familiar voice comes from the guy behind her - it's Todd, from Shipping. Perhaps he can offer some reassurance and insight!

"Oh my God. Did you just kill those people?"

"What? N-no! I don't think I could've - holy shit!"

Rocket's own eyes go wide at the prospect. She'd never tried such a powerful blast here in the fight club, or considered the possibility of collateral damage if her attack missed.

"Th-this is her fault! She shouldn't have dodged!!" Rocket protests, her heart starting to pump faster in her chest. "Give me a push! Hard!"

"Um... okay! Try not to die?"

Todd gives the girl a solid shove, giving her an immediate surge of momentum on her skates as she dashes toward Mimiru. The wheels of her rollerblades start to glow blue as she pumps her legs.

"Don't think I'm gonna go easy on you, Mimi!" she yells as she throws herself forward into a flip. Rather than carrying through the motion, though, she plants her hands on the concrete and kicks her legs out as she spins, shifting onto a single palm as the blue energy in her blades bursts into flame. A blazing arc of energy cuts through the air as she aims her skates, along with the accompanying chi fire, toward Mimiru's upper body. After the kick, she intends to reverse the flip, landing back on her skates and putting some distance between herself and Mimiru.

COMBATSYS: Mimiru fails to interrupt Orbit Breaker from Rocket with Defiance.

Try not to die? Mimiru's lips curl into a wide grin at Rocket's words.

"Bring it on," Mimiru replies.

The pink haired girl braces for impact, leaning back, preparing herself for Rocket's next attack. Much like Rocket, the thrill of battle and excitment causes her to have a wide smile on her face which betrays the focus and concentration Mimiru has at this moment.

Mimiru's right fist is brought behind her head, as if she was getting ready to take a powerful swing in Rocket's direction, preparing herself to intercept her the moment she'd lunge at her.

The intensity of her inner focus causes crimson flames of chi to swirl around Mimiru's feet, a small circle with flames barely six inches above the ground, like waves of fires that creates a mini-vortex around her.

As Rocket comes at her in a blurr, Mimiru swings her fist to try and interrupt her but she can't quite finish the motion. The skate hits her midsection right before she can unleash her geyser of flames to block Rocket's collision course and it knocks Mimiru back.

Mimiru falls off a few feet away, rolling on her back and failing to get back up, ending up making another poor roll before she manages to catch herself and slows herself down. "Ah! That's more like it!" Mimiru calls out as she slowly rises up, staggering a bit still from the impact, "Now we're talking..."

The flames around Mimiru's feet flash briefly in Rocket's eyes as she inverts herself for her assault. Before they can become more painfully meaningful to her, though, she feels her feet connect, and then she's tumbling back away from the pink-haired girl. Her skates hit the floor again, and she powerslides to a near stop before she starts pushing back toward Mimiru.

"No, now we're fighting!!" she yells, her tone fierce as she heads straight for Mimiru, kicking one foot off of the ground at the last moment and spinning around on the front wheel of a single skate, her entire body rotating on axis as she extends her other leg out in a roundhouse kick aimed at Mimiru's middle.

Todd, in the meanwhile, seems to have grown far too concerned with the state of affairs to make a comment. He just stares anxiously as his fellow employees battle each other.

COMBATSYS: Mimiru counters Heavy Kick from Rocket with Mawashi Geri Gaeshi.

Mimiru           0/-------/--=====|=======\==-----\1           Rocket

That passion and fighting spirit, the resolve and determination in Rocket's voice. Mimiru's smile widens a bit. She shared a lot in common with Rocket and she somehow reminded her of herself when she joined the fighting rings a long time ago...

Obviously for different reasons... And if Rocket ever gets addicted to it, it will have been all Mimiru's fault. Though before she lets it go too much to her head, Mimiru had to give her a sound lesson.

Mimiru's stance changed to a more defensive one, far less aggressive than before. The waves of flames that surrounded her previously seems to have left her for now as she waits for Rocket's body.

With one hand, Mimiru swiftly catches Rocket's leg, spinning along with her and following the movement. Her other hand reaches up for Rocket's neck, to force her in the direction she wants while her left leg trips her and debalances her as she spins her around in the continuty of her mvement, throwing her off away on the ground.

There is a loud cry from Rocket as Mimiru releases her to go flying across the concrete floor. The padded gear she's wearing offers some protection from the fall, but there's little she can do to keep from tumbling head over heels for a good several feet.

"Oof!" she gasps as she comes to a stop on her back, with her skates in the air and her elbows bent against the ground to either side of her. She finds herself staring up at a few members of the cheering crowd, along with a frowning Todd.

"Hey, are you, um... okay?" he asks her sympathetically.

"Shut up Todd, I've gotta focus!" she snaps back at him, pressing her fingers to the ground and pumping her feet once before swinging them over her head, backflipping up to her feet. She turns her eyes back to Mimiru, bringing her hands back up into a defensive position with her palms open as she takes in a few slow, steadying breaths. She's been going all-out on the offense so far this fight, but that's not what she was trained for by her grandfather.

"Alright, Mimiru! Come at me!"

COMBATSYS: Rocket focuses on her next action.

Mimiru doesn't intent to give Rocket a lot of time to regain her focus. A few seconds after she swept her off her feet and threw her off, Mimiru is already striding in her direction to get a hold of her once again.

Instead of going all out with the flamboyant crimson flames and chi, Mimiru uses a different, less aggressive approach. "Remember this Rocket, no matter how good and how much a prodigy you are..." Mimiru says as she tries to get a hold of Rocket's collar, "There's always someone stronger than you out there!" The girl lifts her foot up, attempting to plant her foot in Rocket's abdomen. She then throws herself backward to roll on her back and she uses her feet and hold over Rocket to literally send her flying over her.

Rocket puts a hand out to grab onto Mimiru's arm as the other girl grabs onto her shirt, trying to dislodge her grip. However, Mimiru proves tenacious, and when the foot comes up to her stomach, Rocket fumbles for it with her other hand. It's not enough to keep her from getting thrown into the air, though. As she's let go, she tucks herself into a braced position, hitting the concrete again on her back. She's almost definitely going to be sore tomorrow.

"Eungh..."

She pushes herself back up to her feet, a little wobbly on her skates, her face contorted into a grimace for a moment before she steadies her expression. Her chest heaves under her scorched shirt as she draws in breath. For a moment it looks like she may be done. And then, her palms suddenly start to ignite as she speaks.

"S... SUCK IT!"

Normally she may have called the name of the attack she was about to use, but she doesn't have the breath to waste. By the time she yells out she's leapt into the air, bringing her palms together and firing another bolt of blue chi at Mimiru. It's angled somewhat downward this time, so at least it shouldn't hit anyone in the crowd. On the other hand, that also means it propels Rocket backward right toward the roof, likely to cause her to collide with it before she comes down...

Mimiru rolls back and gets back on her feet after she has thrown Rocket away. She turns on her heels to face the cyan haired girl and her eyes widen a moment as Rocket gathers another wave of energy in her hands.

This time, Mimiru doesn't try to dodge it : her arms rise up in an attempt to block the incoming blast but she doesn't have to the time to cover her midsection though and the bolt of energy hits hre right on, blasting Mimiru off a couple of feet in the air right into the metallic chain that delimits the fighting right and into some of the crowd.

Dazed by the blast, held by the crowd, Mimiru gets pushed right back into the ring, wobbling over a little. She shakes her head to try and regain her composure, her eyes fixing on Rocket who had plenty of time to dash away from her.

"Alright, let's finish this..." Mimiru shouts, attempting to make up the distance between her and Rocket with a quick jump. She lunges at her in an attempt to tackle her, her whole body engulfed in a large blaze of crimson flames as she dashes at her.

Rocket pushes off of the ceiling as she nearly collides bodily with it, thrusting herself down to the ring floor and landing on her feet. As she does, Mimiru is already flying at her, the flames glinting in Rocket's eyes. She tries to jump over the charge, twisting in the air, but Mimiru proves too fast for her, colliding with her back. As she's engulfed by Mimiru's red fire, she can feel her consciousness slipping, dazed by the heat and the impact.

Closing her eyes as she winces in pain, acting purely on instinct and adrenalin, she yells out.

"AAUUGGHHHH!"

Sensing Mimiru behind her, she holds out her palms toward the ground. With one final, defiant burst of chi, flashing blue in stark contrast to Mimiru's own crimson flames, she blasts herself backward, aiming to throw her body backward into Mimiru's own and send the both of them flying.

COMBATSYS: Rocket can no longer fight.

After that blast, Mimiru was not expecting Rocket to come back at her right away. It's her loud yell that sells her off and gives just enough time to Mimiru to react. She uses the last surge of chi from her previous impulsion to jump upward, performing a wide-arced backflip as Rocket blasts herself in Mimiru's direction.

The pink haired girl seems to so fluidly and gracefully escape a rather nasty collision course, leaving Rocket's body to dash right through where she used to be. Mimiru falls back on her feet, taking a step back and regaining her balance, watching Rocket's final push hurl her into the crowd who actually acts like a living wall to stop her and push her back into the ring...

Unfortunately though, Rocket's consciousness is slowly starting to slip, everyone sees this, and the announcer decides to end the fight there, "And we have a winner...!" The man shouts, "The Stray Dog of Southtown... Mimiru Kasagi!" The man shouts, making his way back to the pink haired girl who just stares at Rocket.

Her lips curl into a pleased smile. It was a good fight, she was not disappointed. As well as an important lesson if Rocket wanted to continue in the fighting rings... Better to get it taught by a friend rather than a foe...

COMBATSYS: Mimiru has ended the fight here.

Rocket doesn't even notice whether or not her last desperation attack managed to hit Mimiru or not. The last thing she feels before her consciousness slips completely is a sense of flying, the fading adrenalin drowning out the burning sensation. It's rather peaceful, really.

And thus, when she hits the human wall at the side of the ring and the crowd surges to push her back into the fight, she coasts forward for about six inches on her skates before falling rather gracelessly to one side, her muscles too lax to maintain her balance. She hits the concrete hard on her shoulder, though the dull sound it creates is much too quiet to be heard over the sound of the crowd as they applaud for Mimiru.

Meanwhile, Todd from Shipping gives a bit of hesitant applause for Mimiru. "Uhhh, nice job, Mimiru! She's okay, right?" he asks with a look over toward Rocket's crash site. The cyan-haired skater doesn't seem to be moving just yet, although close examination would indicate she's still breathing, at least.

Mimiru raises her fists in the air. A well earned victory. She lifts her gaze up in the air, thoughtful for a moment, lost in her thoughts. Noticing Todd who seems still traumatized, Mimiru approaches him, close enough to hear what he has to say.

Her lips curl into a smile and she pats Todd's shoulder, "Ahah... Rocket thought the Mountain left her sore, she hasn't seen anything. Taught her a good lesson today, Todd. It's not the size that matters, it's how good you are with your fists," Mimiru says with a wink.

"Gonna grab Rocket up, if you see what I mean. Guess I was a little rough with her at the end, but I thought that's how she liked it," Mimiru grins as she messes with Todd and leaves him to give her friend Rocket a hand... Or rather, to simply drag her off the fighting ring and bring her back home.

Making up a story to her grandparents will be the best part, Mimiru's sure...
