Match of the Millennium

Having lost her lover Butch, and her father (both being Secret Service agents killed in the line of duty while saving the President of the United States) Mary was unable to draw much comfort from their honored and ceremonial burial as heroes. Devastated and cast adrift by the two personal losses, it's said Mary Ryan hasn't smiled since that moment. The leather jacket she wears is a precious keepsake of her time with Butch. Likewise her companion, Antonio, the young English Pointer, is rarely far from her side. In the time since then, and while out of necessity learning to cope with being on her own, she started working as a Private Detective, channeling her energy into cases she found meaningful, hoping to put the skills passed onto her to good use. Over time, a small fandom sprung up, gravitating to and turning up in bars she would frequent for a quiet drink, all on the off chance she might just be singing her own personal brand of Bittersweet Blues there on stage that night. The small but growing fandom bestowed upon her the nickname "Blue Mary" without her paying much notice. It's when she started to fight for the fun of it, using the skills her dearest had trained her in, that her name finally stuck.
