Match of the Millennium

Description: T'was the Night before Christmas, And all through the Inn, Not a PC was stirring, Not even Aaron, Akiko and Aaron were ready for battle, With fist and arrow, to test their mettle. Akiko was a monk, with fists and fury, Everyone knows punches is how you make merry! Avalanche Impact School is the name of her art, And from such a small girl, she'll give you a start. Aaron is an Ranger, with arrow and bow, He's a boy scout, as you probably know. The fight will take place, at a place that will rhyme. With gifts and presents coming just in time!

Saturday Night Fight is kind of a thing. It's an established brand. Lots of people sign up to fight in it, for fame or just for the challenge and to push themselves. Akiko is one of the second type, mostly. Last time she got into SNF she had to learn how to shoot a tank. This time, well...



At least this time she gets to fight herself.

Akiko is already in the Pao Pao Cafe long before it's time to fight, because she can't help but get there early. A green-haired girl barely five feet tall, she looks about fifteen and not at all like she's going to be any challenge (which, of course, means that she probably is).

Fortunately it's no effort whatsoever for Akiko to dress up as a fighting monk, which apparently she has to; some kind of D&D thing, she doesn't know. She wears a short sleeveless gi and a pair of blousy pants, both in a deep red rather than her usual colours, and tied her hair back with a ribbon. She looks very serious as she paces around, warming up rather than talking to the audience or posing for the camera.

How... direct.

Aaron was the first kind of fighter, in a way. He already had some fame, but he did not seek it out at first. In the now, he wasn't looking for his own glory. Aaron was a face, and a symbol. In his last SNF event, he played the role of a ranger. He spent a week or so in Romanian wilderness, and was then set on fire.

Today he enjoyed a quick stroll in the mall before his fight. As he approached the cafe, he passed the mall's Santa Clause. pulled his costume out of his pack. When he walked in, he looked like a ranger. He was dressed in buckskin and worn cloth. On his shoulders, was a rather chewed up hide. It bore a large gash, and was clearly set ablaze. The outfit was completed by a set of pointed ears he had on.

When Aaron entered, he looked around for his opponent. The dragons that circled the red pillars where covered in lights, tinsel, and there heads bore antlers. The stone statues were covered in pine bows and ornaments. In the center of the cafe, the black and white tiles was surrounded by a mid sized chain mesh for the patrons safety.

When he saw the small girl in the gi, he walked forward, silently and sullenly. When he stood in front of her, he remained silent for a moment. Then he looked right at her, smiled, put out his hand.

"Hello ma'am, my name is Aaron Fang, pleased to meet you. Are you prepared for our fight?"

Akiko is not hard to find. She's not hiding herself amongst the Christmas decorations. She's just... kind of small and inobtrusive. She wouldn't look like a fighter except for her outfit and, of course, the fact that she's clearly warming up over by some of the seats.

She looks pretty serious about it. And she looks just as serious when she comes to a stop, looking up at Aaron. She didn't think they would actually put her up against an archer. She's never fought one of them before - well, that's what she's here to learn, isn't it? She can't show her father she knows what she's doing if she never has a challenge.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Fang-san," Akiko says, with a slight but polite bow. "My name is Akiko Hayashi, here to represent Dosekiryuu Shindoukan. And - yes, I am." That with a quick roll of her neck to make sure she's as warmed up as she's going to be.

Aaron held out his bow after Akiko's bow amounts the bows. "Very good Miss Hayashi. Then we are off to the ring. Then we can see Dosekiryuu Shindoukan meet arrow and honor."

Aaron turned and walked into the ring was he stung his bow. He left his pack to the side and filled his quiver. On the far side of the tile, Aaron waited. When Akikio entered, the Scout pulled back the string without drawing an arrow. When his arm was fully pulled back, a light was giving a faint glimmer between the bow and the string.

"Shall we begin?"

He released the string, and a beam of blinding light launched towards his opponent.

Akiko smiles, then, however briefly. "Let's have a good fight," she says, before returning to her previous serious look. She shoots a glance to the side, to the SNF filmers (for all of them are televised) before looking back at Aaron, raising her hands.

It's not really a ring, in here, so much as a line; a cleared path with some space to either side so they can maneuver, leaving it vaguely oval-shaped. They're in a cafe, after all. There's not enough room for a full ring.

Unfortunately, that means that there's a long line of distance for Akiko to cross before she gets to Aaron, and that's to his advantage given the whole 'has a bow' thing.

She starts moving as soon as he does, but by the time he fires his 'arrow' she's barely halfway there. Misjudging how fast it's coming at her, she tries to duck low while continuing her advance, but the beam of light strikes her in the shoulder. Hard. She feels it.

But Akiko tries not to let that stop her. She pushes through the impact and the pain, slowed for a moment but then rapidly advancing. She comes in shoulder-first, trying to slam her body into his - and for all that she's so small and light, she hits like a truck, the impact of the shoulder slam far more significant than it looks like it ought to be. She put her whole body into it, plus all the momentum of her rush.

All she has to do is make sure it /hits/ him.

Aaron's arrow its mark, with a flash quite large. When the light faded, the Scout saw his opponent charge. Given her size, Aaron braced himself with bow in front. When she impacted, Aaron began to question physics to be blunt.
The weight of her collision was beyond her size. The Scout could hardly believe his eyes. Aaron still slowed the impact and regained his wit, he still feared the force of a direct hit. In the distance created by the impact, while small. Aaron swung his bow, to be seen by all. She may be denser should, but the eagle head on his bow was made of weighty Ironwood.

Akiko wasn't more dense than expected. Just... strong. She put her legs into the impact, pushing as much as just slamming her body weight.

She might not be able to use chi - not in such a way that it shoots blasts or creates energy, anyhow - but the one thing Akiko does have going for her is sudden explosive bursts of strength.

Akiko bounces off the guard, coming to a stop as her momentum is repelled by Aaron's own strength. She's taken completely aback by his willingness to use his bow as a club, and though she gets up her hands to block, he manages a solid hit against her noggin. It makes an audible /crack/, and Akiko staggers, half-dazed.

But she recovers quickly. Her face shifting into an expression of determination, Akiko shakes her head sharply in an attempt to clear it, bringing her hands up again. This time she moves in toward Aaron, and this time she literally tries to pick him up!

Akiko tugs at Aaron's shoulder with one hand, ducking as she presses her own shoulder towards his midsection, rising with the motion and reaching with her other arm toward his upper legs. If she manages it, she is momentarily standing with him balanced on her shoulders - until, with a grunt, she finishes the kata-guruma throw, dropping him unceremoniously on his back with a thump.

Hard.

When his bow struck, Aaron heard a crack. He was taken back out of concern for her safety. He was then reassured of Akiko's well being when she grabbed him and threw him over her shoulder. He landed on the hard tiles with the clatter of his own bow.

On the ground, Aaron gripped his bow. He rose from the tile in a spin. The eagle head glowed a bright red as it spun in an arc around the Scout. The weighty club was aimed for the small girl. The eagle's head whistled, as it cut through the nearby thistle.

Now Akiko is moving. She's in her groove, more or less; she's taken the initiative and all she needs to do is hold it. Breathe, she reminds herself. Show everybody what you're capable of, and who you are. You don't need to be your father's child; you just need to be you.

The glowing eagle head whips right past Akiko and across some of the thistley decorations as she weaves out of the way of it. She's fairly agile, and since he had to rise while he swung, she has (momentarily, at least) the high ground.

And that gives her an idea. And an opportunity.

Akiko reaches out to seize Aaron's arm before he can recover from his powerful strike with the heavy club. She twists, rotating her body and putting some muscle into it, in an attempt to literally throw him up into the air by his arm; if she manages it, she leaps up after him, performing a perfect somersaulting flip and ending it with an axe kick at the airborne Aaron, smashing him straight back to the ground before she lands! "Haaa!"

When his heavy swing hit only air, the Eagle wondered how he would fare. When Akiko reached for his arm, Aaron shifted away from harm. Spinning around the small girl with fear, Aaron felt he was far too near. He backed himself up, out of harms way. He then rose his voice, with something to say.

"Nicely done fighter, but the flames of the Attilies Elven spirit will never die out!"

After his in-character moment, Aaron stood in position. He glowed flames of red and white. The lights in the cafe glowed, as if hit by a light surge.

The what?

Oh, right, event, he's not actually an elf. But she's supposed to be monk-y, so...

Akiko points one finger dramatically at Aaron while he poses. "The Doseikoryuu Shindoukan school's pride is on the line! I won't lose!" There, she thinks to herself, that'll do... even though she's kind of embarassed to just blurt it out like that! How do the other fighters do that?

Seeing as he's taken a defensive posture, Akiko goes on the offense. She rushes, darting forward and trying to grab ahold of his arm while he charges up; if she manages it, she rolls backwards with him on top, getting her feet into his stomach and literally launching him halfway across the room with a powerful toss!

Aaron was getting into character surprisingly well. He has quite a few speeches, and a speech about being an elf was pretty much the same thing. The main difference being he does not get grabbed during speeches.

Akiko had grabbed the scout's arm and started to pull him down. In his panic, Aaron struggled. While Aaron was still dragged down and tossed off Akiko's feet, he reduced his momentum by his erratic flailing enough to slow to a roll.

on the ground he readied 3 arrows under his cloak. Lunging to a stand, Aaron swung out his bow with his right hand. With the opening it would hopefully provide, Aaron would then toss out 3 arrows at point blank with his left hand.

Akiko is allowed to grab during speeches, when the speeches happen during a SNF event.

Rising after her half-successful attempt to fling Aaron past her, Akiko is taken off guard by Aaron - not because of the bow being swung at her like a staff or club, which she is by now used to, but because he is /throwing/ arrows instead of shooting them. They impact her left side, and she staggers, not only hit but hit hard and somewhat disoriented. Arrows hurt! And she's never fought anyone who threw them before.

But she can't give up yet. She refocuses, fighting through her strain and soreness. Akiko lunges in suddenly, ignoring the sudden bolts of pain up her left side as she extends that arm. She tries to grab Aaron once again, but this time it's not a 'fancy' or 'technical' throw; she just whirls him around. Once, twice -

If all goes well, she lets go then, sending him flying! "Hup!"

Aaron's arrows had weight as well. When his arrows hit, Aaron slowly walked backwards. He began to worry about Akiko and her intrigues. When Akiko tries to grab him, he jumps out of the way. "Snap the arrows to prevent your flesh from tearing, otherwise you will scar."

After dispensing his helpful advice, Aaron continued with his offensive. He brought back his mighty bow to prepare for a mighty swing. The Scout let his bow glide towards Akiko's torso, grunting from the effort.

"I can handle it!"

Honestly, Akiko probably won't scar anyway. She's tough - and if she did scar, she'd accept it. Only two of the arrows stuck, anyway; one has already fallen out, having only tangled in her gi rather than fully penetrating.

But she does snap the two that remain, one after another. It hurts. She ignores that. Harder to ignore is Aaron's continued assault, driving the bow into her stomach like a club. It feels like a battering ram; Akiko is very strong, but she's not very big nor very strong, and when she tries to resist on sheer muscle power, she can't.

Grunting, Akiko forces herself to keep moving. Pushing forward, getting her shoulder into Aaron's stomach, she tries to heft him up on her shoulders. Once before she simply dumped him off the side when she manages it; this time, if she does, she leaps, performing a somersault flip (and releasing him when he's below her) before driving an enormous axe kick straight into him to smash him all the way back to the ground!

Of course, if she doesn't grab him, she's only going to make a little hop when she realizes nobody is on her shoulders. Details!

Aaron's armed assault appeared less than amicable. But he still fought all in good sport. When Aaron sees Akiko coming at him, ducks and rolls. When he turns around, he notices her little hop.

He is immediately humored by the little hop, but he came back to focus on the fight. He ducked in and jabbed the bottom of his bow at Akiko's stomach, playing cautiously.

The little hop was solely from trying to catch Aaron with her shoulder to help start to lift him. Without actually making contact, she had nowhere to go from there and no follow-through.

She does, however, keep moving. She deflects the incoming jab with an open palm, but doesn't see an opening to tug Aaron off balance by his bow. Instead, she follows through by attempting to deliver a punch toward his face, aiming to rattle him with the powerful blow even if she can't knock him out in one.

Akiko's on the edge of what she can do, though. Breathing hard, in pain... it wouldn't take much to take her out, and she knows it. But she doesn't want to lose, not like this.

Aaron brought up his forearm to meet Akiko's fist. The blow was slowed, but his face was still impacted. His nose drips a small amounts of blood.

He staggered back and held his nose. Once a ways away, he stopped, stood up straight, and let his hand down. He wiped hi nose, and began to speak.

"It seems you have the fortitude and strength, but do you have to honor and discipline? Or shall I show you mine?"

Aaron burst into a bright white light after he finished speaking. The lights of the cafe surged brightly, and dazzeled the crowd with their flashing light show. Even the lights of the massive Christmas tree outside blazed with bright color, amazing the children waiting for Santa. Aaron, he simply tighten the string of his bow, and kept a careful watch.

Akiko doesn't respond immediately as she pulls back after her punch. She doesn't go /far/, but she does take that step.

And then she bows, hands at her sides. "I would like to think I do! I wouldn't dishonour my school by acting without honour!" That sounds good, she thinks. It helps that she actually believes it; she really does want to act well...

Aaron takes aim. Akiko squints through the sudden flash of light, trying to get a good look - but honestly she doesn't really NEED to be able to see to grab him, does she? The opening seems familiar; she tries to get Aaron up on her shoulders, swinging him up and over (hopefully) before he can shoot, dropping him off to the side.

The new part, this time, is that she follows through; if she throws him to the ground, she drops after him, trying to land on top and plant an elbow in his gut!

Aaron stood amongst the flashing lights, that illuminated their fight. When she approaches on the right, everything went white. When the poor boy scout regained his sight, in his gut was a pain that was just not right. Even thought his foe lacked in height, she was quite fearsome despite. Aaron leaped up with all his might, the faced her and held his weapon tight.

The Boy Scout stood not caring how he fared, he eyed his target and slightly stared. What she was capable of, he hadn't cared. All he knew, was to be prepared. He drew six times, each arrow paired. Flying white and red bolts glared. Each one held power that couldn't be compared. They flew at speeds that not even eagles dared.

In retrospect, Akiko should not have thrown Aaron /away/ from her.

The arrows explode around her with the force of their contained chi - literally explode in one case where they hit Akiko's attempt to deflect them, and that ruins her evasion. She smashes into another one, the energetic bolts actually throwing her lightweight form some distance, out of the camera's frame.

Akiko hits about three rows of tables, one after another. They crash this way and that, tipping down and scattering around her. A chair falls on top of her, followed by a cafe table as the extremely dazed Akiko finishes her roll.

She's not getting up from that. Not right now.

Aaron regained a lot of clarity after he fired his shots. When he looked to see what happened he started to panic. He dropped his bow and started running across the field to Akiko. He could hardly believe his arrows could do so much damage. He snatched the first aid kit from his bag and rushed over. He was not saying it aloud, but in his mind he was thinking.

"Crap! I'm gonna get double rent for this!"
