SNF 2016.05 - SNF: PEPPER vs YURI in the RADIO HALF-PIPE

Description: What better way for two teens to partake in a battle to determine who is the coolest but a half-pipe? Yuri and Pepper take to their S8-TECH wheels like fish to water as they pull of tricks in their pursuit of the perfect rep.

When you've got wheels on your feet, it makes for a whole different experience as to when you're walking on solid ground or something similar. Namely because you have less control and more momentum. Makes things more challenging in Yuri's mind, even though she's never really tried fighting while wearing rollerblades before. But this could prove to be quite useful (and fun) for Yuri, as it not only gives her a chance to try out something new for a change, but also gives a unique chance at spreading the word about Kyokugen Karate.

As Yuri gets laced up into her SK8-TECH Virtua inline skates, she looks to the camera and gives a thumbs up and a grin. "Hi everybody! I'm Yuri Sakazaki, and today's broadcast is being brought to you by the style of Kyokugen Karate! If you want the coolest style of fighting, then you just HAVE to check out Kyokugen Karate sometime! It's the coolest there's ever been!" She winks then gets back to getting laced up.

One of the nearby SK8-TECH representatives asks Yuri if she had to do that, but she simply laughs it off, saying, "Aw, don't be such a spoilsport! It's fun to advertise Kyokugen Karate any way I can!" She cracks her knuckles and waits for her opponent eagerly.

While Pepper Green's famous alterego might be going into this fight trying to shout and advertise, Pepper herself has settled back into a more laidback role. Those expecting some similarity to the fighter's appearance in the Rumble in the Streets would likely be shocked to find that the girl who had been dressed for the range during her time in Japan has swapped over to something more... appropriate for the skatepark.

A baggy black and white-striped hoodie hangs over a pair of cargo shorts that sag just past her knees make up the core of her new look, flatbottomed skate shoes laced up tight on her feet, and her auburn hair kept under control only by a red cap twisted around to the back.

The young mimic drifts up to the edge of the half-pipe on her SK8-TECH Neo-Gryp skateboard and pops up into the arena proper with a quick kickflip that allows her to lazily coast up to Yuri.

Watching as Pepper comes skating towards her, albeit on a skateboard instead of on skates, Yuri grins. "Oooh, looks like we're gonna be playing some roller derby here... or something similar. Either way, hold on to your hats, everyone, because it's time to show you the awesomeness of Kyokugen Karate!" She gives one last thumbs-up before starting to rollerblade a little to warm herself up. After she's warmed up, she returns to face Pepper with a grin. "Hello! I'm Yuri, and I'm gonna be your opponent while showing you the awesomeness of Kyokugen Karate! I hope you're ready for an awesome fight!"

Instead of striking, though, Yuri simply starts skating up and down the half pipe again while gesturing for Pepper to come on. "I'll be a good sport and let you start things off! I'm just moving for the purpose of a challenge! But don't forget, Kyokugen is so awesome that you might be overwhelmed by it!" She winks. "Don't say I didn't warn you!"

COMBATSYS: Yuri has started a fight here.

Using a few slow motions, Pepper starts to take a similar back and forth path to Yuri, only her's seems to be much more shallow than the older girl's. It wouldn't be unreasonable to describe the casual way she's barely moving as lazy. And in all the utter quietness of her current appearance, she stands in sharp contrast for the moment with the clearly more energetic and friendly Yuri.

For a time being, it's almost as if she doesn't realize there's supposed to be a fight here at all.

Everything that happens next is a surge of motion, setting the fight in action with an alarming start. As Yuri is moving away from Pepper, up the side of the half-pipe, Pepper comes to a halt at the bottom, slamming her foot down on the back of the board. By the time Yuri has started to come back down the other side, the board is twisting about in the air on it's upward arc. Just as Yuri is about to pass by the younger girl, Pepper snares the board at the peak of its upward arc and swings it violently, aiming to catch Yuri right in the face while she's occupied with too much inertia to adjust.

COMBATSYS: Pepper has joined the fight here.

As Pepper prepares herself to attack, Yuri's keeping a brief eye on her. Brief because Yuri's taken to the sky to do a quick somersault in the air before coming down quickly. "Ta-dah! That's the awesomeness of--" Her commentary is abruptly cut off as she raises her hands to deflect the skateboard away from herself, causing her to reel back a little and nearly land on her rear! Fortunately, Yuri's hands shoot out and protect her from a hard landing. Unfortunately, doing a kippup is out of the question due to the fact Yuri's on wheels, so she's forced to push herself back onto her feet slowly. "OK, that was NOT supposed to happen!" She shakes her head and looks at Pepper. "I'll make sure not to include you in my testimonials anytime soon!"

The scowl she has on her face turns into a smirk though. "But if you wanna spar with me, go right ahead! I'm ready for ya!" She takes another ride up the half-pipe then comes back down with her arm raised in an attempt to clothesline her opponent. "Heeeeeere's Yuri!"

It seems that these S8-TECH boards can put with some serious punishment considering that even after the board connects with Yuri's block and knocks the Kyokugen fighter on her back, it's still quite clearly holding up in one piece. "...Pretty good," Pepper offers as she drops the board back down and starts the process of legitimately building up some momentum.

There are some downsides when it comes to building up speed in a fight like this. Obviously it takes up some energy, but more importantly it puts you in a difficult spot where you are jousting through a half-pipe and your opponent thrusts out their arm. For a moment, the young skater is prepared to take a risk, taking the his so that she can take Yuri down to the ground with her.

Spoiler: Pepper doesn't even manage to lash out with her hands, instead taking the hit by herself.

After wincing, she pushes back up only to once more slip into the back and forth. "Not bad," she offers once as she passes by Yuri at the bottom of the half-pipe, only to rocket up the other side, seemingly enhancing her thrust with a burst of chi-enhancement that sends her flying up into the air.

Again it seems to be timed in an effort to catch Yuri coming back toward her, only this time it's Yuri coming up the ramp as she starts to fall down. What starts out as a faux-graceless botch comes back around as a twisting whirlwind kick. The falling strike aims to slam into yuri, then allow the young improviser to twist around behind her, legs snapping around the waist as she turns it into a backflip bodyslam.

COMBATSYS: Yuri dodges Pepper's Keep On Moving.

While Yuri goes up, Pepper comes down. But try as Pepper may, she won't catch Yuri. Because Yuri adjusts her angle just slightly enough to avoid being caught by Pepper as she goes up into the air again. And this time, Yuri does a kick-turn (or a rollerblade equivelant) as she comes back down. "Sorry, but you're gonna have to do a bit better than that to catch me!" Yuri says as she comes back down. It looks like she's about to go up the other side as well, but then something happens as she approaches the bottom of the other half of the pipe.

Instead of going up, Yuri skates sideways across the vertical part of the half pipe then comes back quickly at Pepper. But she's not just coming back to say hello. Oh no, that wouldn't be good. "Check this one out!" Yuri says as she's coming back down, while bringing one hand behind her.

As Yuri gets closer, her hand begins to glow with the aura of chi manifesting. She gets closer and closer, her glow getting bigger, and then as she skates by, she throws a fireball at Pepper while she goes past! "Here, catch this!"

"Catch this."

Those were Yuri's words.

It's quite honestly a perfect suggestion under the circumstances, with Pepper getting back up to her feet where she'd settled in near the base of the ramp. She hasn't had time to get back on her board after the earlier miscalculation, and there isn't a whole lot of opportunity to move around in this battlefield.

Catching it is the perfect opportunity.

With no ounce of hesitation, Pepper takes a wide swipe at the incoming fireball, a glove of chi forming around her hand as she twists about in place to send the glowing ball of energy flying after it's creator as Yuri starts going up the other side.

"Wonder if she'll notice in time," Pepper mumbles.

COMBATSYS: Pepper successfully hits Yuri with Reflected Ko'ou Ken.

Bad enough that the projectile came back at Yuri. Real bad, indeed. It's almost humiliating all the same.

But what's even worse is the fact that Yuri can't even protect herself, let alone attempt to reflect it back, against the returned Ko'ou Ken. She goes down onto her rear and tumbles a few times, looking like a log at one point. She ends up laying on her rear, which she rubs a little in spite of how rude it might look. "Darn, that was totally uncool!" Yuri says out loud as she gets onto her hands and knees in order to steady herself back onto her feet. The right foot comes first, then the left. Finally, Yuri's back on her feet, and wheels, again. "I absolutely HATE it when they do that to me!"

Trying to get her groove back on, Yuri skates a little up and then back down, but this time she stops and waits for Pepper to approach. "You wanna play catch? Then lemme catch YOU!" She waits until Pepper's close enough to try to attempt to grab her and pick her up while, in one fluid motion, skating forwards quickly so that she has a little extra momentum to try to throw her opponent onto the hard surface of the half-pipe!

Finally Pepper has an opportunity to build up some more momentum. As Yuri is busy trying to recover from eating her own fireball, Pepper starts to glide back and forth on the half-pipe, getting up enough speed that she even makes it up to the platform at the top, slipping up to grind along the rim before dropping back into the pipe.

As for the prospect of dropping right back into another attack, Pepper takes another approach this time. Before Yuri can catch hold of her, the improviser bends back at the waist, sticking her knees out in front of her and keeping the board perfectly position under hear backside until she drops down on the plank and luges right past Yuri, far under her intended range.

That new position does cause a few problems with all that momentum she'd stored up, so Pepper is forced to plant a hand on the pipe to slow down even further, pivoting about her palm as she bucks her hips up off the board, leaving it clear for her foot to plant itself back on top as it comes around. In a single fluid motion, she's back into proper position.

Only, to make it a bit more exciting, Pepper adds some more force with a kick as she goes flying at Yuri, aiming a solid shoulder check for the older girl's midsection.

COMBATSYS: Yuri dodges Pepper's Heavy Kick.

With these rollerblades on, Yuri's trying out some new techniques. She's seen them before, but never really tried them out herself. Nevertheless, Yuri figures no time like the presence. As Pepper attempts to kick at Yuri, the Kyokugen Karate girl somehow does a backbend as she grinds on the edge of the lip, meaning that Pepper misses her completely, while Yuri shows off a new trick, all while stretching her back muscles too. "Ouch!" She says half-jokingly. "I think I'd best remember to stretch my back first before I try THAT one again!" She pulls herself back up and starts skating down the half pipe again. "Remember kids, what you're seeing here is being done by a professional! Make sure you always wear proper safety gear when riding on these wheels!"

Then Yuri looks towards Pepper. "And as for YOU, you're gonna wish you had a helmet after I'm done with you!" She attempts to squat down as she comes at Pepper, only this time she actually does a side split at the same time. She's not trying to do extreme yoga on wheels, though. She's trying to trip up Pepper as she comes by! If this doesn't work, Yuri might end up with a pulled groin from holding this too long!

COMBATSYS: Yuri successfully hits Pepper with Light Kick.

Alright, so there's a whole bunch of moralizing that Pepper Green is very specifically not doing at the moment. Lightning Spangles has been put on a short hiatus after the incident in which she was violently concused in front of a crowd of children for a charity event. The fact that she's decided to part in a fight despite the request of producers is simply to give her an chance to not have to be America's Sweetheart.

As for Pepper, she makes an attempt to trick Yuri once more, hopping at the last moment before tripping to let the skateboard keep on rolling, giving Pepper a mobile landing that would position her for something more.

The skateboard instead hit Yuri's leg and veers off to the side, leaving Pepper to fall into the trick for nothing.

"Oomph!" the skater cries out as she faceplants, wincing as she pushes back up from the un-padded landing. It takes her a moment to get back up to her feet, but once she does, she's quick to snare her rogue board, not even planting it down on the half-pipe again as she settles back to wait. As Yuri comes past this time, Pepper thrusts out the board at shin level and sweeps back, aiming to take Yuri's feet out from under her and follow it up with a downthrust using the back edge of the board.

COMBATSYS: Pepper successfully hits Yuri with Random Weapon.

Now that was a bit of a cheap hit. Yuri's hit in the back of the leg and she does down on her rear... then she's hit by the skateboard again! This causes a bit of pain to Yuri, even though she's quick to roll out of the way of the downthrust. It's more of the actual fall from being hit the first time that causes her to feel the pain for real. And this time, getting back onto her feet isn't as easy as before. She's forced to get up a little slower than before. "I should've worn some padding under these," Yuri comments, looking down at her leggings. "But then Dad would've really been on my case!" She sighs. "So uncool!"

Yuri gets up and dusts herself off. "I admit that you have a slight advantage over me with more free mobility, but you don't want to mess with a Kyokugen Fighter for too long! They're known to really get after you!" Yuri attempts to skate around Pepper a few times before attempting to go in and shoulder check her.

COMBATSYS: Pepper blocks Yuri's Aggressive Strike.

With her skateboard still in hand, there's one main solution to the threat of having your opponent charging in at you. Pepper hauls her skateboard up in front of her and allows Yuri to charge right into it, absorbing most of the hit and hopefully leaving Yuri in a position where she's got to recover from that agressive action.

Except there's a minor problem in all of this. A spark of irregularity in Pepper's otherwise laidback skatergirl impression. Yuri gets to stand there complaining that her father is around and cares about her. As if it were nothing to know you could go home and see your family at the end of the day and just be bored listening to them tell you that you made a mistake.

Pepper doesn't have that option.

All she can do is play the part of Lightning Spangles like her parents wanted.

here's a momentary flare of anger inside Pepper, a fire behind her eyes as every pretense of a proper, fanciful fighting style is replaced by a single punch aimed to catch Yuri right in the eye.

Even while she's on wheels, Yuri still can duck down like it's nothing major. And while Pepper might be getting angry, Yuri doesn't look kindly upon that. In fact, she can somewhat sense that the girl is getting angry. She clicks her tongue a few times then shakes her head. "Getting angry isn't going to solve anything, you know! You've got to keep your mind focused on things or else you never know what might come at you! Anger can blind you in many ways!" And this is one example where she intends to prove that.

Instead of getting up right away, Yuri quickly bursts forwards while attempting to launch into Pepper and deliver a swift rising uppercut, almost like the famous Dragon Punch. Only this one has a unique twist to it, giving it the Yuri Sakazaki style of attacking!

Yuri is certainly right. Maintaining control is vital in a fight, especially for Pepper. When your combat style is as loose and versatile as Pepper Green's, you need to either think about every move you make or set yourself in the right frame of mind to become some other type of fighter. This skater isn't a violent berserker, it's a technical artist on the board.

Perhaps, though, Yuri should be more cautious about giving her opponent tips in the middle of a fight. As Yuri launches herself in a rising strike, Pepper whips the skateboard up once again, but rather than simply absorbing the blow, she plants it at an angle. As soon as Yuri's fist hits the plank, she's diverted off to the side... and Pepper launches into the proper retaliation. Surging forward, her foot suddenly trails with a heavy coating of chi. It spirals outward in a rainbow of colors, taking faint particles that look almost like spray paint in flight as the first kick takes Yuri right in the gut and launches her into the air. With a rapid flurry of blows, each successive strike launches the two further and further up the ramp until they both land at the platform at the top.

A really bad outcome for Yuri. Not only did her signature attack miss completely, but she also got countered hard, and finds herself in a world of hurt as she finds herself going into the air, going higher and higher (like that song by John Parr, right?) But what goes up must come down, and that goes for Yuri too. She lands hard on the platform at the top of the half pipe and groans a little, feeling like she's just been hit by a truck or something.

"Not now, father..." Yuri babbles slightly as her senses return. "Just let me sleep in... a little more..." She slaps her face a few times to get herself back to reality, and when she tries to push herself up, she forgets she's on rollerblades and falls down again. "OUCH! Aww, this stinks!" Yuri mutters as she tries again, this time remembering she has rollerblades on, and despite her shakiness and lack of vision slightly, she manages to face Pepper again.

"That was real cool!" Yuri says with sarcasm dripping from her voice. "But I'm afraid I'm the one who's gonna be the coolest here!" She goes back down the pipe, then comes back up, but when she leaps into the air, she's spinning around with her leg outstretched, almost like she's doing that famous spinning kick made famous by the Ansatsuken fighters! Only this one has more of a 'Yuri' feel to it.

Apparently now Pepper has been dragged into a competition to see who is the coolest by a girl two years her senior. Depending on the age range and target demographic, Pepper's alterego could make or break a competition like that (Lightning Spangles has the preteen market on lock). Pepper herself is only really bothered with the prospect of how she's perceived from the outside when it's important to whatever role she's in... and her current role isn't supposed to care one bit.

Although before she can make any snarky retaliation, Yuri flies back up, and despite Pepper's attempt to duck out of the way, there's not a whole lot of room to move on the platform at the top of the ramp and instead gets caught up in the whirlwind of kicks.
"Nggh," the skater grunts as she is knocked back against the safety railing. All of this fight is starting to weigh a bit heavy on the body, and the character isn't really pulling together quite like intended. Aiming to reset, Pepper grabs her board and drops back into the half-pipe, building up enough steam on the other side that she's able to pull off a clean handplant at the other side.

"If you were trying to have a fight about who's cooler, you probably shouldn't have put on the skates like a dork," she finally retaliates before twisting back off the plant and barreling back down on the Kyokugen fighter, kicking her board forward at Yuri's feet just as they're about to clash, aiming to throw her off balance as she suddenly aims to catch one arm aroundthe back of Yuri's neck as her other hand slams viciously into the older girl's stomach, the force of it flipping Yuri about in an unusual sort of neckbreaker suplex.

The good news: Yuri's neck wasn't broken, despite the name of the throw.

The bad news: She's still hurt.

"You're calling ME a dork!?" Yuri exclaims as she skates around, trying to keep a good momentum going as she watches Pepper. "YOU are in no position to talk!" She exclaims, attempting to use her speed to avoid being caught by Pepper. But the speed is just a little too slow, despite Yuri's estimates. "Hey, leggo!" Yuri exclaims, which doesn't work as she's slammed into the ground. "OWW!" Yuri screams as she hits the ground. Her neck wasn't broken, thankfully, but her body feels like it was. "Maybe I should've worn safety gear after all... but that wouldn't look cool!" Yuri sighs with pain as she struggles to get back up, feeling like she might have pulled a neck muscle while doing that.

"Unnngh... uhhh..." Yuri slaps her face a few times as she struggles to regain her vision. "Calling... me a dork..." She repeats those words, almost like the memory of what just happened is returning after a brief bout of amnesia. "Calling me... a DORK?!" Now Yuri remembers it well, and when Yuri gets insulted, she gets REAL mad, as Pepper is about to find out! "I'll show you WHO'S a dork!"

Yuri skates as best as she can, her body showing signs of difficulty and her speed slowing down as she does so. Nevertheless, she keeps a steady pace as she skates back towards Pepper. "You wanna call ME a dork?! I'll show you what I do to people who insult me!" As she's going around again, she begins to charge her chi again, this time using both hands. "See this? THIS IS WHAT I DO TO PEOPLE WHO TICK ME OFF!" She yells as she throws forth a huge fireball, the speed of her skating increasing the velocity slightly.

The first thing that Pepper does after getting back up off the ground is dust herself off. An important part of the character right now is playing it cool after all. You don't get to call someone a dork and then spaz out, you know?

The next thing that Pepper does is casually make her way over to the once more discarded skateboard and pick it back up off the ground. There's a part of her that's certain it will be a bit more useful in her hands than on her feet in the upcoming moment.

Then she simply stands there as Yuri begins to get mad at the name-calling, despite having started everything by suggesting that Pepper wasn't cool in a sarcastic manner. And Yuri is charging up her energy with a bit of anger.

Pepper does the same, although give the fact that it's flowing out from her hands like tiny particles of spray paint that surround the board in her hand, which is already covered in "cool" graffiti images makes that all the harder to notice while angry, moving, and preparing to attack.

"What do you do, leave yourself completely open?" Pepper retorts as she stares down the fireball, suddenly launching the chi-coated skateboard forward in a baseball bat swing. Rather than merely letting the board absorb the bulk of the energy, the coating of Pepper's on chi helps build in a proper bounce that helps send the giant burst of chi flying straight back at its owner.

So it's time for a game of baseball? Or perhaps even Pong? Well whatever it is, Yuri doesn't want to eat her own projectile being sent back at her. So she brings her shield of chi up in front of her, but forgets her momentum for a moment, and that catches her at the wrong angle, causing her to get knocked across the half pipe and landing on the platform at the top. She lays there splayed out for a few moments, wondering what just hit her, before she shakes her head again. "Owww... this really stinks! I hate it!" Even in her injured state, Yuri cares more about the fact that she's losing to this person who thinks she's a dork!

This time, Yuri takes her time to get up slowly, trying to make sure she doesn't lose her balance again. "Owww... my body!" She says as she feels the pain coursing through her. "I can't believe I'm gonna lose! So many potential Kyokugen students watching me fail!" She shakes her head. "It's just not fair!"

The board is dropped back to the ground and Pepper steps back onto it, quickly settling back into a lazy path through the half-pipe to rebuild all of that lost momentum. This time there's no taunting as Yuri's own fireball blasts her back, she simply starts circling in much the same way that the Kyokugen girl had earlier.

It's only after a good amount of circling, letting Yuri start to get back to her feet, that Pepper finally responds with. "You know, people aren't just going to join your school if you win. If you're not exciting, nobody cares that you won, and if you are exciting nobody cares that you lost." It sounds quite deep for a girl of only 14 years age, but it was something that she discovered while studying to be Lightning Spangles. People loved Spangles for being exciting regardless of whether she had come out on top or not.

Of course, Pepper doesn't just leave it at a bit of advice and nothing else, mere moments after providing some wisdom, the skater suddenly kicks forward with a well-rehearsed rushing knee... and for once it's remarkably bland. There are no flourishes of style, as if to provide an example of just what Pepper had been describing.

Weakened and in a state of being ready to pass out at a moment's notice, Yuri somehow miracuously manages to avoid being caught by Pepper's latest attempt at attacking her. Unfortunately, even with rollerblades and adrenaline fueling her, Yuri is still finding it difficult to keep herself going. She seems to be drifting around on her own, but tries to maintain control. "That... was lucky..." She mutters to herself. "But gotta take her out!" Yuri watches her drifting to try to get an idea as to which way she's going, in hopes of catching Pepper off-guard.

There's nothing fancy here. Yuri simply tries to skate into Pepper and try to take her down with a quick skate-by takedown style technique. Maybe Yuri should try out for roller derby if she improves?

When someone is trying to take advantage of your blind spots and openings there are really only a few methods that you can practice to avoid being hit.

You can practice to learn how to protect your openings.

You can attempt to disguise them.

You can leave false openings to mislead your opponent.

But there is one more that Pepper makes use of right now: dumb luck.

While doing her best to build up a bit more speed, Pepper kicks at the wrong moment, and a loose lace gets caught on her board's wheel, causing her to stop suddenly and quite nearly faceplant if not for the fact that she manages to catch herself on the way down.

Yuri grabs empty air.

"Whoa, gotta be more careful," Pepper chides herself before turning to notice Yuri stumbling to recover from the miss. Well, clearly this is the time to try something special. With a grin on her face, the young skater doesn't even think to unentangle the board from her lace as she suddenly surges up out of her crouch into a somersault kick... with the board still trailing along.

Yuri doesn't think to avoid it this time. Instead, she's simply content to try to deflect the board away. And she does so, albeit with a wince and a strained look on her face. Apparently her defensive skills need some work, especially when she's weak. She rubs at her arm and slows to a stop. Apparently she's a bit distracted by the pain in her arm. So she struggles to deal with that while forgetting about moving around. She also works on catching her breath.

"Gotta end soon... so uncool though..." Yuri thinks as she cracks her knuckles. "Gonna blow her away with this one!" She waits for Pepper to come into view before she charges up her chi and shoots SEVERAL large fireballs in succession at her opponent! "Suck on THIS!"

COMBATSYS: Pepper blocks Yuri's Denjin Haoh Sho Ko Ken.

That didn't go entirely as planned. As the skateboard bounces off of Yuri's block, Pepper reaches out to grab hold of it, finishing the somersault and staying crouched low as she gets to work at releasing her shoelace from its current imprisonment. She manages to succeed, but putting in all that work so close to the ground means that when a barrage of energy blasts comes flying straight at her, she's not in a position to get out of the way.

Instead she bunkers down, holding the board up in front of her as a small bit of cover as she does her best to avoid being blown away, even as each hit to the board knocks her back, and each near miss grazes painfully past her.

But she comes out the other side still standing.

Crouching.

"Maybe you should worry less about what's cool, ya know?" Pepper offers as she hops up, grinding the toe of her shoe on the ramp as sparks of chi sputter into life around her feet. The wide shift stays low, aiming to cut Yuri off at the base with a simple (if glowing) leg sweep.

COMBATSYS: Yuri fails to interrupt Light Kick from Pepper with Yuri Chou Upper.

When you're in the heat of combat and you're badly damaged, sometimes you do things that you shouldn't. Namely get a bit too aggressive and cocky. Because despite the pain she's in, Yuri desperately wants to win at any cost. Which is why she's once again attempting to do her trademark uppercut attack... and failing miserably. She gets caught by Pepper and goes flying to the ground hard. This time, though, she doesn't get up. All she's seeing is a spinning world while her body aches harder than an hour of her father's training routines. She's trying not to pass out, but it's obvious as medical assistants tend to her, she's definitely out of the fight.

The last thing she does before passing out is turn to face Pepper and say, "You'll regret calling me a dork! Just you wait and see!" She pulls down on her lower eyelid and sticks out her tongue, before collapsing. At that, she's carried off for medical treatment. She'd do more, but that was the last strength she had in her body. She'll be regretting this big time when she recovers though...

Well, that turned out pretty well for Pepper.

Perhaps she had the greater advantage in the fight by having wheels that weren't permanently attached to her feet but instead only needed to be used occasionally. The fact that they also gave her a handy weapon certainly was a nice bonus.

Speaking of which, after seeing Yuri go down, Pepper gets back up from her crouch, popping up her skateboard with her heel and catching it with her hand. She watches quietly as the older girl makes her final taunt before being carried off.

"...Cool."
