SNF 2016.04 - SNF: Dr. Tessitore vs Sergei in: KOSHER CREDIT!

Description: Hello boils and ghouls! Looks like our favorite number one contributor to top content, Dr. Tessitore, is making the Midnight Channel again! Now I'm not one for nerds, but when nerds have a rack to rival mine? That catches my attention! And this time, it looks like she has a real problem for this passover: it looks like that in spite of kashrut law, the world continues to ruin the planet with its obsession with unclean food! Pigs, factory farmed catfish, and all kinds of animals in the world are farmed and harvested to the steady destruction of the planet's precious limited resources! And worst of all, it turns out that spiders are not kosher! Thus, in the spirit of passover, she is hanging around in the outskirts of Korosten, Ukraine, and modifying the various farm animals right in the shadow of Chernobyl itself! Of course, Russian interests dictate that such violations of nature should be suppressed or controlled. Will special agent Sergei be able to contain the runaway science before it utterly destroys the local ecosystem . . . or rather, make it reborn?

In 1986, a nuclear disaster occured in Chernobyl -- one of only two classified as the maximum Level 7 on the International Nuclear Event Scale. It was kind of a big deal; sixty miles away in the city of Korosten, the ramifications of the catastrophe can still be felt; the town remains in the Periodic Control Zone due to its elevated level of radiation. But, some thirty years after the disaster, life has in many ways returned to a state of normalcy. An international potato pancakes festival is held each year. And while residents acknowledge the hardships, they're just as quick to move past them. They like the peace and quiet. They like the normalcy, and anything out of the ordinary is just... something to not be talked about.

Like the swine farm just next to it -- the workers absolutely refuse to work the night shift any more. It could be something about the weird noises and lights going on in the nighttime. Or it could be that the animals look... different, lately.

For the one thing, the local catfish just aren't swimming that well lately. They have... more whiskers growing out of them? People have had an easier time catching the fish, for one thing. But they don't -taste- the same.

But more oddly -- the pigs don't really... -look- any different at all. They just keep chewing their food over and over and over again.

Really, Fio Tessitore has made no secret of her presence here. She's filed records -- but not anywhere a rational people would look for them. And she's here every night, just like tonight -- and in the communal barn where hundreds of pigs are gathered, about a half dozen of them are strung up from the rafters by silken threads, their limbs splayed out, and their snouts hanging low -- unconscious, possibly even comatose. Surgical scars crisscross their lower abdomens. Electrodes and wires dangle from the porcine beasts, all feeding back into a bank of monitors currently undergoing observation from Dr. Tessitore. Her pale blue skin glimmers in the dim light of the barn -- whether the unnatural flesh tone is due to the reflection from the monitors or the moonlight isn't exactly clear. But one thing is clear: she's got a lot of work to do before the Midnight Channel camera crew insists on this staged... well, what is it, an interview? A fight?

Astute observers will also note that there are some -other- mammals present in the barn -- about two dozen bats, hanging upside down from the rafters at various positions.

There was a report of strange looking creatures in a populated area near Chernobyl. This set off quite a few alarms when it was reported to the Russian military. Sergei was sent in immediately to investigate. From what he could gather, there were no major problems with the pigs and catfish so far. But after looking into some records, the plans were changed entirely.

Sergei called in command and rushed to locate the foul source.

Sergei came up to the rafters to see the horrifying and revolting inhuman creature that was doing who knows what to the swine. A crew member says, “great the Spetsnaz guy is here, lets get this going”. Sergei realizes this was a set up to get him to fight so this film crew could record it. Regardless, he had to stop the reckless violations of nature that were being created by that… thing!

Sergei silently stared at the thing, wanting for it to move.

The piggies are moving -- just barely swinging back and forth in the light breeze afforded by the open barn doors. It's a really inviting place, if you're okay with the macabre sights and sounds of -science-.

The doctor's lab coat flows freely with the blue-skinned Italian's graceful motions. It's obvious -- and in some ways, it's almost too obvious.

That's one reason the Midnight Channel keeps trying to catch up with her -- she knows how to appeal to their viewers. They are so sure of her own stage presence that they're okay sending a twenty-something intern to interview her. An intern in a powder blue shirt and brown slacks, who is visibly shaking with palpable fear. "M-Miss, I'm sorry, -Doctor- Tessitore... I am Volod Zelenko, here with Midnight Channel. I am wondering, what are you -doing- with these animals tonight?"

Dr. Tessitore lowers her clipboard and flashes an eager, practically disarming smile at Volodymyr -- practically the same age as her, by human years. "Well, it's Passover, and food is kind of hard to come by here in the Ukraine! But with all the social unrest in your neighbors to the north, the Jewish population isn't able to share in the great bounty of food here! So I am working to make sure that by this same time next season, your Jewish brethren will be able to partake of kosher pork!"

Volod stares back at her with uncomprehending eyes. "... I'm sorry, did you say kosher pork?"

Tess blinks back as if Volod was speaking another language. "... Well, yes! Don't knock it till you've tried it! Besides, it tastes at least 98% identical to regular pork."
The doctor frowns, poking her chin. She clarifies, "At least 95%."

And at that moment, she looks past Volod and the cameras. Right in the direction of Sergei's approach. "Oh, hello there! Are you our special guest for this evening?" Tess tips herself forward in a mockery of a gentleman's bow -- though in the creepy light, it will become obvious that the woman has not just two, but -six- arms. And four of the spidery limbs are definitely not ones she was born with, sprouting out through a cleverly-tailored circle in the back of her lab coat. "Please, don't be shy!"

If Dr. Tessitore were privy to the internal thoughts of the man leaping towards her, she might have frowned at the implications. Fio is not some random monster, she's a human being -- at least, she was a year ago when attending lectures at Genoa University. She's pretty -- -damn- pretty, actually, as 22-year-old Italian grad students go. But perhaps her chances at winning a beauty pageant would be impacted by the fact that her lovely black tresses haven't had a chance to grow back yet; only the tresses on the crown of her head escaped her recent injuries intact.

So yeah. She -could- be human -- she holds up her arms to fend off the attack with the normal reflexes of someone who is definitely not a monster.

But her slender, lab-coat-clad forearms don't get touched by the double-booted dropkick -- she's spared from the wrath by the superhuman reflexes of her ghastly spider appendages. Spetsnaz boots are clenched firmly in the four sets of grippers, their spindly legs bowing from the sheer strength of the attacker. The humanoid component may not have been hurt, but neither was she unaffected: high-heeled shoes make a horrid scraping sound as they are dragged across the hard concrete floor.

"That's more like it..." she purrs, taking charge of her momentum after a moment with a backwards leap. While her human hands run through her short-cropped hair, her spider arms splay out to her sides like wings -- and one of them grabs a scalpel from a nearby tray. "I don't normally ask this of my opponents, but you seem like -optimal- breeding stock... Would you like to be my next guinea pig?"

She doesn't give enough time to answer the question adequately before launching herself forward. She pirouettes into a spin: the light catches off the scalpel as she swings it in what seems to be a mad diagonal slash. But the real danger isn't the scalpel -- it's that she's aiming to force Sergei off-balance, and force him against one of the pig cages.

And should she catch hold of him, she'd be trying to jam a syringe into him, filled with some definitely un-kosher chemical of a neon purple color. It will... make him sleepy.

The abomination span at Sergei like a ballerina from darkest dregs of an abyss. Its arms spin like whips at Sergei, with the scalpel scratching him. It not only wanted to defile the pigs, but Sergei himself.

With the ballerina still coming at him, Sergei throws his fist right into its eye.

Sergei           0/-------/----===|=======\====---\1    Dr. Tessitore

Dr. Tessitore is not coming into this fight blind. She's done her homework on the Spetsnaz agent reaping a path of destruction throughout the professional fighting establishment. She's -well- aware of his propensity for... unnecessary brutality.
In a way, she's also -counting- on it. She knows that she shouldn't rely on the supernatural gifts she's been blessed with by her employer, but rather on the keen intellect that attracted his attentions in the first place. So as her scalpel scrapes across the agent, loosing a fine mint of crimson, Tess smiles back at him. "Go on, show me your training..."

And there it is -- a cold, precise, punch right to the eye. Brutal in its efficiency and directly to the point -- a perfect counterpoint to the showy pirouette. She should have been right in front of that fist, if she were a ballerina.

Fio Tessitore is a doctor, not a ballerina. And a foul abomination of nature at that. When she senses the motion, she simply drops to the floor -- allowing herself to be caught by her four spider arms, while the rapidly-flung fist careens scant inches overhead.

That would be when Sergei feels a sharp pain in his thigh -- the point of her stiletto heel jamming into it. It's not enough to break the skin, but it's enough to allow Tess to backflip back to her feet. And in the process, she flicks her wrist in Sergei's direction. Silken thread rushes out from her wrist, entombing his right leg in damp fibers. As Tess completes her flip, she gives a firm tug to the silken threads -- tugging Sergei off his feet and sending him crashing to the floor.

"I'm not like the other girls," she coos, a playful smile crossing her lips as she rests her human hands casually upon her hips. "Maybe you've noticed...?"

Sergei was stabbed in his thigh by the monstrosity’s heel. As it brought him to the floor, it tried to speak. While it spoke Sergei reached up to grab it by the arm and hip to brings himself up, and take her down. While on the ground he would kick it right in it’s sternum to send it across the filthy wooden floor.

Tess' smile begins to fade as Sergei rises to his feet -- surely, she didn't expect the fight to be -over- at that point, but she's expected something, -any- kind of word from her opponent by now. "Mmm, the strong and silent type..." she purrs, slipping backwards. Her irises shift -- becoming less round, and more slitted, like those of a cat. "I can appreciate that, I suppose..."

While she's strafing away, though, a seemingly innocuous gesture of flicking her hand at the floor seems to be a preparatory gesture. But that comes into play in a moment...
When Sergei rises to grab her by the hip, Tess is already moving with the attack, with the net result that the grapple becomes more of an insistent shove that the Italian dances unsteadily away from, teetering from one leg to the other. "Oh, definitely strong..."

But once she's stabilized herself, the spider web she'd placed on the floor earlier comes into play. With a quick outward motion from her left wrist, she aims to ensnare Sergei's right arm, tugging it firmly out of the way so that she can launch both her legs at the man. If she manages to get both her ankles locked behind his head, she'll flip backwards sharply, bringing him to the floor with a Frankensteiner.

Sergei is tossed around by that monstrosity and is entangled by web. He is pained by his head being slammed into the floor. The floor boards break, and Sergei’s head is dangling over the sea of pigs.

With a violent jerk the Spetsnaz rises and lunges to grab the beast by it’s spine. If it has 8 limbs, then the spine would be under higher stress than normal possible a weak point.

Meanwhile, Volod is frustrated. He asked a very good question, he thought, and ... well, it got interrupted! But moreover, why did they send him here? It's clearly not for his investigative ability, or his hard-hitting questions. The Ukrainian intern was just about to lose interest when all of a sudden the floorboards rattle from a violent exchange. He clutches onto the rails for support, holding on lest the structure give way beneath him!

Tess, though? She's not worried. She knows full well that Sergei is quite powerful, but with her superior intellect, she can surely see through anything he can send her way... right? All she has to do is keep moving, to put her unique physiology to use...and leverage it against the Spetsnaz again.

That plan lasts as long as her unique physiology isn't used against her though: eight limbs also means eight -different- things to grab. While she rises back to her feet, one spider leg is pulled, and Tess finds herself jerked backwards sharply. A surprised whimper escapes her -- she hadn't expected him to move so quickly after that body slam, but it seems she thought wrong!

But even as she's hauled backwards, she's not completely defenseless -- for while Sergei is putting his two hands to work, there are at -least- two spider limbs that can reach his neck. She smiles -- and wonders how long Sergei would be able to hold her while spider limbs are throttling him by the neck.

Sergei sees the spider limbs reach back to grab his throat. But He only sees one pair. When he reaches to stop the first pair, the second pair throttles him. As he struggles with the revolting degenerate that was touching his skin, he was glad he called in command.

Maintaining her chokehold upon Sergei, Fio is able to pry herself free from Sergei's grasp -- only then does she give the man a brisk shove backwards to ensure she can step around freely. "Aww... you make the most adorable expressions when you're struggling to breathe. See, this is one reason people chat during fights... it's to cover how -nervous- they really are..."

But that's just Tess stoking the flames. She knows that it's going to irritate the Spetsnaz fighter -- and it shows in her condescending smile as she reaches back into her lab coat to withdraw a test tube filled with an iridescent green liquid. "Don't worry though. We'll have -lots- more time to get acquainted. Just breathe in gently..." Now that she's not choking the life out of him, of course...
With a blur of motion, Tess snaps her wrist forward. It's not with a spider web though -- she aims to shatter the test tube on Sergei's sternum, letting him breathe the foul vapors of the green liquid waft as the acid works about on his uniform. What kind of acid -would- be able to destroy those fabrics, after all...?

Tess had been wanting to fight Sergei ever since she'd seen the man rip bone fragments out of Daniel Little -- not just for vengeance, but also of a burning, purely scientific desire to see how Sergei acts when the shoe is on the other foot. So far, she's been... pleasantly surprised to see that her opponent isn't going to be disheartened in the face of a superior post-human being like herself.
Conceited and idealistic -- that's Tess in a nutshell. She'd been pouring on the condescension rather fierce, but when Sergei remains calm -- well, she finds herself tamping down that conceited smile a few degrees. Gulp.

The kick to her midsection requires a more assertive response though -- and she meets it by twisting to her side, raising one leg and taking the knee on the bared side of her thigh and shin. That's right -- the crazed doctor considers a miniskirt and silk blouse to be proper mad scientist apparel, underneath that somewhat stained lab coat.

Stepping back, she finds herself backed against one of the barriers preventing her from falling to the pigs below. Not wanting to be trapped, she strafes sharply to her right, laughing with only a hint of nervousness. "You know, you are a -great- listener. It is rare in this day and age!" But her strafe to the side was only the start of her tactic -- she throws herself into one of the vertical bars comprising the safety rail, and uses it as a foothold to launch herself forward. With her supernatural strength, she launches herself in a high arc over Sergei's head. And while it seems like an evasion, it's actually a position to use her spider arms to grab hold of Sergei. Should her four spidery limbs grab hold of him, she'd continue with her flip, whipping him over her head and tossing him into the bay of pigs below! "Hyaaa!"

With the approaching sound of choppers, the bats appear to be getting restless. A leathery sound that resembles a sheaf of rustling papers flapping in the wind might provide cause for some alarm. It's a sound most unlike the absent-minded shuffling going on from the pigs below in their chemically-induced stupor.
And suddenly, abruptly, one of the bats drops behind Tessitore -- a good twenty feet or so. But while the wings stop hovering about six feet above the ground, momentum seems to carry a portion of the essence of the bat to the floor.
An instant later, a man is standing there, bowing his head to both combatants. He does not interrupt -- he does not need to. His presence ought to be warning enough that interference will not be tolerated.

Prior to her transformation from the beauty of Genoa U's biochemistry departent into Jedah's go-to scientist, Fio Tessitore was really only a fan of -watching- fights, less so one to actively take part in them. She could throw punches and kicks, but preferred to save those for the closed-minded simpletons who loved to shoot down her dubious (though somehow perfectly executed) ideas on ethical grounds. It wasn't till she willingly allowed herself to be combined with arachnid DNA that she could even -take- a punch -- and it wasn't till even more recently that she'd truly become one with her evolution.

Once she can tell that she's not going to grasp hold of Sergei, Tessitore changes strategy, twisting about and flicking a web line at a support beam a good distance away. Pulling tightly on the silken strands, she varies her trajectory far enough that Sergei's foot barely whistles past, the flapping fabric of her lab coat being little more than a broken promise to the Spetsnaz's aspirations of cracking the woman's pelvis.

"Ooh, missed it by -thaaaat- much..." she purrs, arachnid arms pulled close as she concludes her altered flightpath, practically kneeling upon the railing separating her from the sleeping piggies below. But it won't be long before she leaps forward again -- this time, she swings her arms wide (three at a time), in what -appears- to be moves to drive Sergei backwards.
"Now, relax... this won't hurt a bit!" The goal is a bit darker though -- she hopes to grab his arm, and jerk the agent towards her in an unbalancing strike. Should she succeed, she'd poke him with the needle of another syringe like the one she'd discarded earlier.

Tessitore frowns slightly. On one hand, she's impressed at the Spetsnaz soldier's ability to remain calm even throughout her blistering onslaught; there are not many who would be able to keep their cool as literally six limbs are swung upon them. But on the other hand, Fio is beginning to feel the fatigue of battle: spiders prefer their fights to be over quickly!

She may have managed to get a grip, but Sergei breaking out of the hold before she can jam a syringe into his arm just intensifies her frown. "I said it wouldn't hurt. Don't tell me you're terrified of needles...?!"

She doesn't press that line of questioning further though, as Sergei is already swinging his foot at her legs. Brow furrowing, she leaps into the air with arachnid agility, bringing her knee fully to bear into Sergei's chest. It's not an attack in this case, but rather a fulcrum: Sergei will feel the pinch of two of her spider grippers lancing into his leg, but again -- it's just for grip. And with a flick of the wrist, Tess shoots a web of spider silk at the floorboards. With one quick rotation, she inverts herself and Sergei -- and now has the superior leverage.

"You're repulsed by us, aren't you? Disgusted..." Tess laughs, ramming down hard upon Sergei's chest with her knee. She won't hold long against the agent's superior strength, but she doesn't need long...
"Perhaps some compassion is in order..."
That's when Tess slams the syringe into his arm, emptying the plunger. "There. That wasn't so bad, hmmmm...?"

The sriinge stabbed into Sergei. Everything was dizzy and blurry, like time he tried vodka. Sergei used what senses he had to jam his leg right at the lavender kiwi dentist.

As Tess hops back and away from Sergei, she seems amused at the reaction her serum seems to be having upon him. "Oh, good, it's already having an effect! I did so enjoy working on that one, the rate of rejection was very low indeed..."

However, while Fio is bragging about her work, she underestimates the muscle memory of the trained Spetsnaz assassin. The Italian darkstalker -- only a lavender kiwi dentist in Sergei's mind of course -- considers the delusional Russian to be a minor threat now at best. The kick slammed at her side? Child's play -- all she would have to do is turn to the side and let her spider appendages do the trick.
It's a very bad decision, though -- for the brittle legs have already been overexerted. They meet the kick -- and one leg snaps in two like a twig. The other bows, making a similar creaking sound, but holding -- for now.

Tessitore, for her part, is not as calm or as collected as Sergei. Her scream is... rather shrill, actually, as she staggers backwards. Black goo drips from the shattered appendage, as she wipes tears from her eyes with the back of her sleeve. She... had that coming, she understands, as she shuts her jaw in an attempt to mimic Sergei's silent stoicism.

Dr. Tessitore isn't, however, going to be felled by the loss of one of her eight limbs. In fact -- for one moment, she forgets she has them at all -- as she twists both her palms towards Sergei. Spinnerets on her wrist would be plainly visible for the moment before two chaotic streams of webbing fluid erupt forth. There's enough webbing being ejected from the arachnid doctor to completely surround Sergei's head and upper torso, hindering any attempt at counteracting the ruthless darkstalker.

Sergei was entangled in webbing he thought he was done for. But then, he saw President Ras Putin fly to him on his werewolf. Ras Putin’s beard said “Show that Kiwi who is the boss”. Sergei charged to to tackle the Kiwi with all the force of a bear who lost a game of chess. In the realms of normal perspective, Ras Putin was really a Russian attack helicopter.

Tess smiles as her webbing wraps tightly around Sergei -- she really thinks she could -kill- him if this keeps up -- much to the consternation of poor Volod. Why are they putting two potential murderers in the hands of an intern, anyway? Tess advances upon Sergei, making up for the ground she lost getting her limb broken... only to find that the Spetsnaz soldier isn't as immobilized as she'd wanted him to be. She wonders just what kind of hallucinations he can be experiencing -now-...

The bats, though, have no illusions about the approaching armada. They are... quite used to the intense focus Dr. Tessitore brings to bear upon her experiments, and are fairly well accustomed to having to cover for her inattentiveness. So when the helicopters approach, the bats descend from the ceiling of the barn, each transforming into wizened antidiluvian figures in stereotypically black and white suits, their cloaks lined with red silk. The vampires fold their arms impassively, forming a loose perimeter around the two combatants: any external attack will quite clearly have to go through them first.

Tess, for her count, realized that the webbing was a bit more stretchy than she'd intended, allowing the drug-addled Sergei to surge forwards in defiance of his bonds. And what's more, he's still able to punch out at her -- which she's able to deal with by throwing up her guard, whipping her forearms to deflect each blow away from her face.

"Nngh! Nngh!" The effort leaves her breathless, and thankfully for Sergei, speechless, as her arms are beginning to bruise beneath that blood-spattered lab coat. The "Kiwi" raises her leg, as before, to absorb the brunt of the vicious knee strike, though she has the good sense to leap backwards to avoid the final strike to her head. She lands a good distance away -- her back ending up pressed against the chest of the vampire who landed first.

"Milady, it would seem that we may be having visitors shortly..."
"Wh-what? Okay, look, this is an interview! Televised! He can't do anything to me now..."
The vampire lord is insistent. "-Milady-..."
"... Ugh, fine, we'll move!"

Through it all, Volod has been hanging safe a fair distance away. But now... "Miss... Doctor Tessitore...? How is it that cutting pigs open would make them kosher?"
Tess frowns. He's still here?! Exasperated, she doesn't break eye contact with Sergei, holding her hands up defensively. Her blood is pumping so fast, she doesn't even feel comfortable tearing her eyes away from her opponent for an instant. "Well, the pigs' diet has changed, obviously! They chew cud now!" She wipes her face on her sleeve, though she hisses once her bruised forearm is inadvertently brushed in the process. "Ugh. Is there anything else I have to spell out for you?"

The Russian attack team was right up at the barn loft. The team took aim at the Wampires and announced by megaphone “Hand over out operative peacefully and we will refrain from filling your heads with 9mm rounds”.

Tess wrinkles her brow at the assault team that managed to get past the perimeter. Megaphone, shouting, mild headache... ugh. "Ssssssh!" she insists, "You'll wake up the pigs!"
For the record: Not likely.

The vampire nearest Tess makes a concilatory gesture towards the mostly drugged-up, partially webbed-up Sergei. Tess stuffs her hands in her lab coat pockets, looking as put-out as a child told that she can't have ice cream at this hour. "Ugh. Fine! Whatever, I didn't need another guinea pig anyway!" At any rate -- the vampires stand down, all mirroring the first vampire's gesture. There will be no further opposition.

Volod's eyes widen, and he looks back to the cameraman -- was Tess going to -abduct- the fighter? "... I mean... wait, wait, I haven't even... wait!" The intern is -so- going to get disciplined for this. He brings his microphone to bear, standing in front of the camera as he stammers out, "A-and the winner of this fight is: Dr. Fio Tessitore! Ahahaha! Thank you all for--"

Tess, meanwhile, is walking past Volod. And, on her way to the blood-red oculus which spawns in front of her, she lightly shoves the intern out of the way.
Tess' last words, before disappearing into the portal to return her to the relative safety of Majigen: "Maybe next time then, when you're all alone... ahahaha!"

COMBATSYS: Dr. Tessitore has ended the fight here.

as the monsters leave, the team works quickly. They first take all the data in the area. Then they load Sergei onto the chopper. As Sergei is lifted out, they put down every single pig in a spray of bullets that were much higher caliber than 9mm. They were lucky this time, the monster made something that was harmless compared to what was in Chernobyl. As the helicopters fly off into the night, the darkness turns into blinding light as the pig farm is blown up in a gigantic fireball destroying it all.

The crew managed to get away, but Volod was left seriously reconsidering this internship.
