To most people in the modern world the ghosts and demons spoken of in ancient myths are precisely that - primitive creations of superstitious minds attempting to explain the world around them. Which is probably why the first reaction most people have upon meeting Riki is one of utter disbelief. Standing over eight feet tall, this muscle-bound amazon is what is known as an 'oni' - an ogre or troll-like demon supposedly found in the afterlife. After failing to fulfill her duties as the guardian spirit of a rural shrine, Enma-O, lord of Meido, cast the disgraced demon from his presence and set her upon a quest of redemption - to bring justice to 1000 evil souls. Unfortunately, Riki is something of a layabout, much preferring to spend her days enjoying a good drink - or twenty - which is precisely what got her in trouble in the first place. Despite the belief that oni are malicious and cruel, Riki tends to be extremely friendly and laid-back even to those who she considers wicked. Straightforward and simple-minded, she respects strength and honesty and is a loyal friend who can be counted on to help out when needed. But first, she just needs one more drink...
