Kum Haehyun is the current head of an esteemed Korean family of "Tuners," individuals born with a near-magical ability to perceive and adjust the flow of energy through the world. Though a gifted Tuner herself, Haehyun became head of the prestigious Kum family through difficult circumstances following conflict between its main and branch houses and the early death of her mother. Haehyun may be young, but she is level-headed, respectful, and a master Tuner capable of incredible feats of chi manipulation. Even so, she interacts with the outside world through a mediator: Kum Jonryoko. Jonryoko is an imposing old martial arts master who possesses incredible physical strength and chi control. He also happens to be a humanoid robot that Haehyun pilots from inside.
