A princess of the realm of Edenia, Kitana was raised as the daughter of Shao Kahn after the Outworld emperor conquered Edenia and forced Kitana's mother, Sindel, to become his queen. Kitana now serves as one of Shao Kahn's top assassins. In spite of her status, and her incredible skill in the art of killing, she was never as bloodthirsty as he preferred. Recently, her place at Shao Kahn's side has been joined by Mileena, her 'identical' sister who better exemplifies an unquenchable thirst for blood and a talent for violence. Kitana remains ever the favoured daughter, one of the most formidable assassins in Outworld while also being of Royal blood, eldest and technically heir to the throne in an Empire where the sun will never set on the time of the Great Ruler himself. Even though she has been known as Shao Kahn's daughter for centuries, some Edenian people still recall a time before Shao Kahn's name was spoken. They remember that cherished royal family as rulers with compassion and wisdom, and they have yet to forget their beautiful young princess.
