The most adept Muay Thai master in history, his tremendous physical stature makes even a simple kick a force to be reckoned with -- let alone the brutal knee and knee strikes which Muay Thai is known for. Once upon a time, Sagat was content to be known as simply the "Emperor of Muay Thai." Out of the numerous challenges to the throne, only one of his many challengers caused lasting damage. Sagat lost his right eye due to an accident from Go Hibiki; in his vengeful rage, Sagat killed him. Pride as the master of Muay Thai was not enough -- hubris led him to challenge martial artists of all arts to his World Warrior tournament. Brashly, the champion mowed through all of the competitors, catapulting himself into the final round, where a moment of overconfidence allowed Ryu's Shoryuken to carve a canyon across his chest. The physical wound healed in time, but the damage to his once-indomitable will endured longer. His confidence shattered, he lost the title of Emperor to his student, Adon. Wandering the world in search of himself, he soon found that there was someone else interested in reversing his fortunes. As the dictator's right-hand man, Sagat now has the resources to commit to training for the only goal he now cares for -- rematching Ryu on the global stage.
