Description: A pleasant homecoming for someone unsure she deserves it. Chun-li meets Jira and her partner slash attention grabbing accoutrement.
It's a lax day at Genhanten, with neither of the twins working at the moment and a nice pace has been enforced (mainly by the special sign saying they're open but the superstars are out) and thus few customers are in. Jira herself is in her uniform dress and taking every order on her own, from seating and recording to making and delivering it. A line is not currently present, with about ten tables filled in total and Jira herself waiting quietly to take on the next newcomer and eyeing the tables for any calls.
Walking in off the street a woman pauses in the doorway with her head fixedly at the sign. It was disappointing that the boys weren't working and she had to hope they weren't skiving off or on some kind of adventure. Dressed casually in jeans and a white blouse with a floral print she doesn't make a stir while taking a seat and peruses the menu -- It's evolved some since last she was here; changes everywhere. Chun-li sets a tote bag at her feet, complete with a smiling panda face on it and it's definitely of the cheap disposable kind given out with purchases from some of the market stores.
The ambiance in here hasn't changed at all so it was better to keep her eyes on her own food and the menu. Some of the custom were long-time friends or customers of the owner, that may or may not have an aversion to cop eyes which she wasn't certain whether she still possessed or not.
Seeing a new arrival quickly gets Jira moving, quietly doing a round of the other tables and dipping into the kitchen to refill a glass, marking it down on her notepad and then making her way to the newest customer. "Hello, thank you for coming to Genhanten. I'm Jira, running everything at the moment, how can I help you?" she chimes in greeting with a polite bow.
Chun-Li looks up from her menu and turns toward the waitress with her best attempt at a smile which dissolves in surprise. A quick blinks of her eyes and a short pause before she continues. What in the world was Gen thinking having someone waiting tables in a dress like that, actually upon closer inspection the dress looked uncomfortably familiar.
""Ah, yes! Jira. May I have the noodle soup with some rice and vegetables, and one serving of Sachima."
The sweet pastries here had been a guilty pleasure and a great pick-me up. The food was usually varying from delicious to pretty good depending on the cook, though it had varied some in the past.
"That's a very lovely dress."
Her eyes stray across the distinctive firearm and she pointedly stares at it, whatever in the world? she reserves judgements but she definitely starts re-evaluating the environment as well as the busy waitress. The dress was almost indeed struggling to contain the young woman and looked somehow completely different from anything she ever imagined one would look on her. Points for or against it? But either way that firearm was a most attention grabbing accessory.
Jira herself keeps her eyes on the customer's, breaking only for a moment to cast a very sour look to her gun before returning her warm smile to Chun, writing down the order on her notepd.
"Thank you, I seem to be getting a lot of offhand comments about the dress but I think my partner is the one you're really commenting about. To be honest, I might request Yang let me work in a uniform that fits better. He said some woman owned it previously, that he sounded to be friends with.. Chun-Li if I recall correctly." she notes.
"Also, is that all for your order?" she turns slightly, ready to head off to the kitchen and start with this.
"Yes! Thank-you. May I ask? What did you mean by 'your partner?' There are more of you wearing those uniforms?"
Cocking her head to the side quizzically she glances left and right around the room, surely they hadn't franchised or gone theme with that look, were there more of them? This could seem an unlikely or paranoid behaviour but this kind of thing had happened before. The Chun-li cosplay waitresses had been a rather unflattering SNf night best forgotten and completely unmentioned by anyone ever. FOR ALL TIME.
Anything to avoid fixating on the firearm, there were probably plenty of people who dined here while hiding weapons on their persons but none so openly. Even suspiciously sturdy walking sticks or canes that rattled were no match for garnering attention as a pistol tucked into your dress.
A click and innocent gleam shine from the petals of her piece under the sash, and she offhandedly swats at it.
"No, I was referring to my gun. I keep telling him being so obvious is going to get attention. Not like he listens." then she nods. "I'll be right back with your order." and like that is off into the kitchen, and this was all simple enough- she had most of the essential things done already and making a serving of things wouldn't take longer than ten minutes total.. Though it might lack some of the splendour of Yang's work, atleast she made things pretty in presentation.
Jira is back out and setting down the bowls of soup and rice with vegetables, and the small saucer with the Sachima on the side. "Here you are~" she chimes
During the girls absence Chun-li replays what she had just seen in her head. The weapon had moved and made a distinct noise on its own and she clearly addressed it as a partner. It was easy to dismiss incredible second or third hand claims but harder when you had seen them first hand. Breathing out a sigh she tries to force such thoughts out of her head and to just focus on having a nice meal. That's not her job anymore.
The meal looks great when set down in front of her, fragrant aroma from the noodle soup , fluffy rice and steamed vegetables looking appealing.
"This looks great."
Chun-li spoons up some of the broth and transplants some noodles from the bowl to the spoon with a deft motion, using the chopsticks to help the noodles into her mouth.
"It's very good, my compliments to the cook."
She flashes a now rare smile as she enthuses over the meal and happily tries a little of each dish. There's a clittle chargin as she realises she is actually eating quite fast, some truth to the myth that those who fight tend to have large appetites but she does so with relish. Good food is a guilty pleasure but it's almost a spiritual experience when it's done right.
Jira smiles at the praise from the other woman, and watches her eat for a moment before another table called for her. Finished, she collected payment and set off to clear that table, dishes to the kitchen and hurriedly out to clean it- then back to the kitchen and cleaning the dishes and checking to make sure none of her preset things are imperiled, stirring and adjusting heat settings before finally rejoining the restaurant floor. OOnly to be called to another table to refill drinks and broth with a smile. Luckily not many people were buzzing in.
She then makes her way around the tables, then back to Chun after a few minutes. "Do you need anything else?" she asks, her handy notepad and pen ready for sketching in additions.
Fuaaaaah there really was no substitute for sweets in the middle of the day. Head turning up in response to being addressed Chun-li is caughtin the midst of eating the last of her fried dough treat. She waves hastily as she chews and swallows before she can bring herself to speak again.
"No thank you, that was very good. cIf it's no trouble could you tell Yun and Yang that I stopped by."
Another older lady creeping on the young dragons? -- No!
"My name is Chun-li. They should hopefully remember me."
The jest is self-mocking but there is an edge to it that bites deep. Forcing another smile that's much less enthusiastic than the genuine joy she showed while enjoying the meal, she fumbles for her tote bag containing her wallet as well as a brick of stacked Bruce Lee dvd's.
The waitress quietly waits, arms intersecting infront of her form and hands folded. Her smile brigtens at the compliments, and creeping expression of surprise comes across as the woman identifies herself.
"Oh! You are the owner of this dress!" she muses. "Don't worry about paying, my treat. Next time I see the twins, I'll let them know you stopped by. Also, if you ever need someone to pal around with please let me know. I'm rather new here, and between my sensei and the twins I don't know anyone. Let lone anyone to actually -talk- to." she replies, sounding a little excited.
Chun-Li ceases fumbling with the tote bag and withdraws her arm modestly inclining her head in a gentle seated bow. The dress is well made but it looks like it has been either tailored our stretched to capacity to fit in the buxom young woman. The meal had been modest and not too pricey and the woman seeming friendly and earnest.
"Then thank you yes I'll accept that kind offer. That dress does really suit you."
Not to mention she hadn't really worn much of anything more flattering than her quipao in some time. It was almost enough to regret a particularly hearty meal with a chaser of fried dough with sweet sauce and fruit. Theres a definite pause as she simply looks up at Jira but it is momentary before she raises her hand to be shaken.
"I think I would like that."
Whether to make a new friend or learn more about Jira and her curious partner was debateable, both had certain appeals.
A bow and a friendly, firm handshake are given to Chun-Li, maintaining her excitement. "I do hope you have a nice day, my partner says your trigger finger is formidable." she responds, giving a friendly wink. "Maybe later on I'd let you two mingle, or test that out in a friendly contest." she offers.
Jira then turns and excuses herself, moving to another table and assisting them, ending up bringing anothher bowl of rice out from the kitchen and doing one more round. A resonating clakkingfrom her boots echo as she steps back to Chun-Li's table in a small hurry.
Chun-Li returns the handshake with a gemnte grip that becomes firmer to match Jiras, the meal had done wonders for her mood and she was happy with her purchases. A collection of prime martial arts movies she could always enjoy no matter her mood and a pleasant dining experience. As she loops her arm through the tote bag handles she tucks the face of the cartoonish smiling panda under her arm she gives the waitress, Jira a wave.
"Well then, we'll have to talk more next time."
The offer had been a little unsettling but just plain mysterious enough that she was looking forward to seeing just what that entailed. But for now at least she was headed back to an empty apartment that would be much the warmer for a library of action packed films. As she makes to walk away she turns back suddenly on a whim.
"I'll come visit to see you next time -- so until then!"
