Hunter - In Dragon Town

Description: Hunter confronts Vyle as he attempts to expand his operations. For now, it seems like the 'business' will continue uninterrupted.

Most cities have Inner City Crime. Sunshine, pioneer as it is, somehow manages to have Outer City Crime. It certainly makes for a unique dynamic, to be sure. And it also makes exploiting that 'Outer City Crime' unique too. Sure, the city has already had its share of established gangs. First, the Black Warriors, then their successors in the Shadow Warriors.

But most of them are small time compared to internationally known Shadaloo!...or would be if not for the certain downturn the organization has met. But Sunshine promised new ground to break, and Mr. Gallo's little charity stunt felt like the best way to get a foot in the door. That's what one certain luchador thought, anyhow. Dressed mildly compared to his usual public appearance, in a schlubby black hoodie and pants, and flanked by two similarly incognito wingmen at least a foot taller than he, Vyle found himself one of the few names left to try and rebuild the group significantly. And with crime already a plague here...why not make use of it? "I don't like it, boss. We should've came armed," one of his wingmen mutters. "Idiot. You think the gangs here got where they are by guns?" the luchador muttered, hands in his pocket as he glanced aside, back and forth. "You think they collapsed 'cuz of guns? You think I can crush your empty head because of guns? Now shut up and keep looking." After all, the best assets, Shadaloo learned, are ones gifted enough not to need sidearms.

And then there's a woman in front of him.

Hunter /owns/ these streets. Outer Sunshine has become her hunting grounds, and she knows every inch as well as she knew the jungles of her home before Vyle's /kind/ burned much of them to the ground. The jungle is hardy, it will grow back. It is hard to burn out an entire ecosystem.

Human flesh burns much easier.

Having descended from above, Vyle may well surmise that Hunter is the sort of woman that he is looking for. Were it not for the /coldness/ in her eyes. The utter disdain. That, and the fact that she has a bowie knife in one hand, and a length of rope tied into a noose in the other. The bow and arrow strung across her back tells the rest of her story.

"I already warned your Killer Bee."

Her voice is, if anything, even colder than her eyes. She has steeled herself since her encounter with Cammy. She had spoken with Johann; it was inevitable that scum like this would try to ooze into their beautiful city. They are a cancer. One she must excise.

"The price to walk away with your life is one limb. Choose. Or I will make an example of you that will make what you did to my homeland look like /paradise/."

...well, that didn't take long. Seems like the kind of person this Shadaloo envoy was looking for just literally dropped in right in front of them. Eying the mysterious woman, Vyle took note of what she carried...and smiled. He smacked one of his wingmen in the side and looked up to him. "See what I mean, you idiot?" he sniped, before he stepped forward...

And the cold woman spoke. The thugs' eyes widen, while Vyle's face fell. "Killer Bee...the hell..." he mutters while his muscle backed up a bit. "Killer Bee...you mean...she....and her..." The wingman who had been previously silent starts to babble. The rudo just had to roll his eyes. Looks like Shadaloo recruitment really WAS lowering its standards.

Stepping forward, Vyle simply leveled his gaze at Hunter, scowling at her. "Look, Lady. I had nothing to do with your little homeland, wherever that is. We're just looking for people. Get out of our way, and things will be kosher. I don't hurt you, you don't hurt me, everyone wins. Keep standing there, though, and all the weapons in the world aren't going to save you from being strung up like the stupid tart you are." Let it be known, Vyle, for all his faults, did not lack in balls. COmmon sense, maybe, but...

Well, nobody can say that she didn't give him all the chance in the world.

Quite suddenly, Hunter is slashing up with the wickedly sharp knife. Aiming to draw a long, thin line from Vyle's left hip up to his right shoulder. She's already flipping backwards as she does this, and if she completes the motion, she'll wind up landing some six feet away, bobbing and weaving on the spot, and showing absolutely no signs of being intimidated even a little bit; even if she is interrupted or the blow fails to find home, she will elucidate as to /why/ this is happening some more.

"Your people burned my village." She explains. It is almost as though the emotion has been drained from her voice... except that the next words quiver with it. Barely-controlled hatred that shivers through each syllable as she frames them. "I heard the screams as children, babies, that I saw brought into the world died for the glory of your dead God."

She narrows her eyes. Now she kills, or she dies. There is no middle ground, and she cares little which way it goes. To see this man, trying to recruit as though she should be happy to let him continue to perpetuate this blight on the face of the world. The emotion is gone again from her voice as she sneers.

"You are not going to die quickly."

While his goons were backing off in sheer terror of the force and ruthlessnesss of the nameless Hunter, Vyle was...less intimidated. As she slices up at him and backflips, the Shadaloo agent used the quickness given to him by all that lucha training to pivot and spin away from the slice. "Look lady, I had no part in it, and hell, if the boss told me what he planned, I would've said he was out of his mind. I had no part in it, Biggy and Tiny here had no deal in it..." He looks back to his goons, who hastily nod in response.

"You got a grudge against the big guy? Fine. Take it up with him. Me? I just want to do business. Got it? BIZ-NESS." Vyle was certainly trying to hammer home the fact that he wasn't involved personally...but he does seem to carry a callous indifference to Hunter's sorrows and hatreds. But he does seem to realize she's not going to let him go. Not after that decree.

"Tch. I guess there's no getting through to you there, is there? Boys?" He looks back ot them...and sighs. "...idiots. Gotta do this all by myself," he grumbles, before dashing in straight at the Hunter, hoping to snap a grab at her ankle and trip her up before she got moving again. Those weapons are going to be a pain...which means getting to her before she can get them out.

Hunter steps aside from Vyle's grab, and just shakes her head as she does. "Then you are only going to die because of your business." She says, "Your business is a disease. I will cut it out of you, piece by piece."

She's no fool, despite her words. The fact that Vyle had successfully evaded her slash means that he is a competent fighter. Shadaloo has many competent fighters; some of them had come close to killing her before, and some of them she had killed herself. She steps two paces backwards, and tests the weight of her knife, setting up a slow, rhythmic looping motion with her rope. She doesn't particularly care about the other men right now; she will kill them if they haven't run by the time she has finished with the 'leader'. But he is the root of this rot right now.

She's just watching him. Judging him. His speed is impressive, but there are ways to counteract that. He isn't frightened of her, and seems to think she /cares/ about what he has to say... which means that a psychological angle is out. But everyone has their weakness, their points where she can insert the knife and twist until it cracks.

Now she is trying to judge what the weak point on this man may be. Where best to bleed him from. The look she's giving him is the look that predator's have given prey since time immemorial. If Vyle is just doing this for a paycheck, that may be the most disturbing thing of all. For Hunter, this is entirely personal, entirely serious, and there is no defense that he might give that could possibly talk her out of it.

She is a fanatic. And her cause is his extinction. She will settle for nothing less.

COMBATSYS: Hunter focuses on her next action.

While Vyle is obvious out for a check, he's certainly not a stranger to predatory glances. While he lacks the fanatical and cold blooded aura the Hunter has, the mohawked luchador certainly moves like one. Then again, the way he slinks about and slithers away when his attempted sweep fails, he looks more like a snake than a mighty beast of prey. Perhaps a scavenger more than a predator.

But regardless, the dark looks he gets from the nameless woman are simply returned, his hood falling back to show his mohawked head and own dark gaze. "Quick little rabbit, aren't you?" He haunts, sneering. "So, you think you're some kind of hunter, huh? This your savanna? What happens when someone who ain't scared tries to sink their fangs back?" He taunts, obviously trying to get under her skin in turn in a much more...verbal way.

"What happens when you're not the only hunter here?!" he shouts as he leaps toward her, pouncing forward and trying to wrap his legs around her head before whipping himself back. A hurracanrana seems like an awful choice in a real fight, but hey...

Hunter brings her arms up to defend, but winds up just guiding the man's legs further around her head. This is peculiar; she had not expected him to fight in the same style as Cammy. Perhaps that was a miscalculation on her part. It makes sense, after all. They share the same organization, why shouldn't they share the same types of moves? Thankfully, he is nowhere near the same caliber of fighter.

Whilst she hits the ground hard, when she comes up, it is to have abandoned the weapons she had been planning to use. Perhaps having decided that range will work to her favor instead. Her trusty bow has been drawn instead, and now that is being leveled at Vyle with an arrow drawing back on the string.

"I am not the only predator in this city." She says, quietly. "I am not even the best."

This is definitely true. There are far more dangerous threats in Sunshine City than Hunter. But Vyle is not dealing with them today. He is dealing with her.

And the viciously barbed arrow that she has strung, now sent hurtling through the air for his center mass.

It's only a rather sick coincidence that Vyle and Cammy share a technique, but it's not like Vyle's going to be correcting any misconceptions any time soon. He just cares about winning and getting out of this. Unfortunately, as he mangages to fling the Hunter back, he finds her carrying the one weapon he wanted her to get rid off as they both get back up to their feet. The bow was something he was more worried about than either knife, rope, or whatever else she had hidden, for reasons such as this. The barbed arrow ends up flying too fast for the speedy luchador to stop, and all he can do is bring up his arm, and hope for the hoodie to deflect most of it before it dug in too far. It cuts through the dark fabric as he hunches in, and slashes through his side, but he manages to avoid it embedding itself in his flesh. NOw THAT would've been a bad deal.

"Well, it's a shame then. You're going to have to be damn good if you want to kill me, you stupid little girl," Vyle snarls, dropping low in that sepentine stance again. "Or maybe all that anger and hate is just you trying to make up for not being good enough to save your friends, huh?" THe darker aspects of Vyle bubble up as he taunts, trying to get into the Hunter's head in turn. Keeping that low, snake-like posture, he comes in low once more, this time trying to whip his legs around and sweep the bow-wielder off her feet.

COMBATSYS: Vyle successfully hits Hunter with Light Kick.

Perhaps it is the jab about her inability to save her people which breaks her concentration enough for the hit to land home. Whatever the case, it does strike true, and she is sent down to the ground. As she goes down, she slings her bow back over her shoulder. Even in mid-air, she's planning her next assault. He's got a couple of good hits in, but this fight is far from over.

Instead, as she hits the ground, she rolls. And as she comes up, it is with a viciously barbed net in both hands. Her aim is to simply drape the hooked wire over Vyle, and dart around to his side. Somehow, there's a knife in her hands again; a different one, this time, more curved, making it perfectly suited for the cross-slashing slice she aims to drive into his side.

There's no more words, either. She is now far more focused and intent on the battle. Everything that she needed to say has been said. What he has to say about her is irrelevant; she has to remember that. He is prey, no matter how much he may think of himself as predator. Nothing more.

Sneaky hidden weapons everywhere. Looks like the arrow isn't the only barbed thing that she can send flying at the dark wrestler. It's a good thing that Vyle is quick, able to slide away as she net is cast out and scramble away before she can get a another throw in. "Wow...you're one sadistic little bitch," he mutters as he tries to climb his way up a nearby light pole and hang off it. "Ever wonder what all those people back home might have thought about what you become, hrrrrmm?" he asks in a morbidly casual way.

"Don't you think they might be...disappointed you've become so cold...so callous...so much of a killer? Is this what they really wanted from you?" He's obviously trying to play more mind games as he speaks: that's just the way Vyle rolls. It also leaves room for openings, trying to get her to stall up yet again while he dives and tries to grab the arm holding that curved knife. With the momentum of his dive, a good pull and fling overhead might do some serious damage.

Once again, Hunter finds herself caught. She is flung overhead, and comes down fairly hard on the ground. The thing is, she doesn't particularly care about what Vyle is saying to her. She hears it, yes, it is just... irrelevant. She's tuning him out. Focusing on the moment as much as she can. It is frustrating that she is incapable of evading his attacks, whilst he can turn hers against her... but such is not an entirely new experience to her, especially when fighting Shadaloo.

There is, really, only one question worth asking:

"Will you kill me?"

And even whilst he's pondering that, she's coming forwards again. This time, her leg leads the way, aiming to crash into the side of his head, and use him as a handy point to jump off. If she can manage it, she'll snare the top of one of the streetlamps, and haul herself up onto it. All the better a position from which to evaluate her next move.

Rolling up from the armdrag, Vyle is quick back to his feet, turning to keep his eye on the Hunter. As many tricks as she has up her sleeve, he's not daring underestimate her. And when she tries to vault off his head, he's quick to duck under and slip beneath her before he can use him as a stepping stone. "Kill you? Oh, little girly's got a death wish, huh?!" he sneers, continuing to act as that devil on her shoulder and trying to keep up the psyche talk, even if it's not getting to her. After all, words can hurt, even if they don't look like they do at first.

"That's a really good..." he starts to say, before a sudden gush of noxious green mist suddenly sprays forward as he lurches at the Hunter. Obvious aim to spray it all in her face. "Question..." he continues, smirking a noxious green smirk. "I think I'd rather see you wriggle like a beached whale instead. Killing is too quick and boring, you know."

Hunter leaps from the spot she had landed, up to her perch. He can foam and bubble all he likes beneath her. That's fine. "Filth." She repeats. Which pretty much sums up her opinion of the man. If he had said he would, then he is proving her opinion of Shadaloo correct. If he had said he wouldn't, then perhaps that would have triggered some manner of introspection... but torture and capture? Yes, that fits Shadaloo's operations far more closely than even a simple death would have. Death, she could respect. This? She cannot.

And so instead, she slices underneath her with a sudden, sharp gesture. There's a terrifying squeal of metal as the entire streetlight she had been sitting on lurches underneath her, and with a sudden boot into the back, she sends the large object hurtling down towards him.

There's good reason Vyle threw his chips in with Shadaloo, even if he's not the world conquering type: he's NOT a good man. He might not be an outright killer for the most part, but he likes to have his dark fun. And he doesn't exactly have reason to hide his pleasures either, after all, it's not like any marks of his are nearby to see his true nature. Just the goons watching from afar, encouraged by their boss's success, but still too intimidated by the Hunter to stack the odds further.

With his Venom Breath avoided, the Luchador sneers, looking up to the street light she had hopped up to. The squealing metal and creaking that echos through the dark street is warning enough for him to get the hell out of the way, rolling to safety as it falls over. "I'm not the one trying to be some kind of urban predator, lady! I'm doing a job, you're living out some freaky revenge fantasy! You're lecturing me about being filth because I wasn't going to kill you?!" he snaps, laughing as he dives around again, this time picking up a long rusted over length of pipe and swinging it Barry Bonds-style toward the Hunter's side.

Hunter draws her bow as Vyle comes in for her again, and as she does, bright flaming chi swirls up around her. The energy coallesces, at about the same time as the pipe smashes into her side, causing her to lose her concentration, and grunt.

She exhales slowly, and shakes her head. "You are filth because you are filth." She says, "And if I cannot kill you today, then I will not give you the pleasure of torturing me. I will kill you tomorrow. Or the day after. Sunshine City is not a place for your kind."

Vyle dodged a bullet, that's for sure, but he'll take it. He doesn't really care whether that little flash of worry actually comes through. After all, he's on a roll! "Oh, please. Are you serious?" he sneers. Lowering the pipe as he backs off, he just...shakes his head. "Wow. I mean...look around you. Look at this place. This place is ALREADY a place for 'my kind'. You don't know it yet! Why do you think I'm here, you stupid little bint. This is already dystopia with a Leave It To Beaver center. You think you're making any difference?"

Shaking his head, Vyle drops the pipe, walking off. Not exactly the smartest thing to do, but perhaps that just shows how arrogant the man really is. "Come on guys. Lets move on, we got schedules to keep!" he barks, leaving himself wide open.

COMBATSYS: Vyle takes no action.

Well, far be it for Hunter not to take an open invitation.

Vyle drops his guard and turns on her, and she takes a pair of very long, very curved knives from her belt. The technique is normally all but impossible to pull off on a target who is a trained fighter and who is expecting it, but Vyle is neither. Perhaps he thought her words meant she was any less sincere in her intention to render him into hamburger meat? The point is moot.

Ordinarily the technique had been used to slaughter downed prey quickly and efficiently. Now, she simply lunges towards his back, and aims to drive both weapons simultaneously into the sides of his neck. She might not have demonstrated an incredible amount of skill thus far, but it is a singularly stupid idea to presume that means she is incompetent.

While Vyle was an awful, arrogant creep, it's also a mistake to assume he's not a trained fighter either. He might not have been expecting it, but he also wasn't stupid enough to completely take his eyes off an opponent, even one he had tried to dismiss. "WHOA!" he shouts when the Hunter tries to stab two deadly, curved knives into his neck. Nudging aside one arm, he manages to spin off to her side to avoid the surely fatal strike. "Alight, chica, you asked for it!" he shouts, jumping the base of the previously severed light post and vaulting off it. His arms grab for her head, again trying to use his own bodily momentum to pull her down and spike her head into the uneven pavement with his version of the Tornado DDT: The Dead Spiral.

Hunter never assumed Vyle was anything other than a trained fighter. This fight has proven that rather well. She just assumed he didn't have eyes in the back of his head; a fact which apparently costs her dearly, as she is neatly grabbed and slammed and slammed into the ground.

When she gets up, she's bleeding rather heavily. Not, that she particularly cares about that. She can lick her wounds later. For now, she simply tuts, and tugs a string on one of her many pockets.

In an instant, she is surrounded by thick, choking smoke.

When it clears, she is gone.

Pushing himself back up after the vicious headspike, Vyle returns back to his serpentine stance from earlier, low to the ground and hands barely hovering over it as he waits on the Hunter. She's got his full attention now. "Come on...try it. TRY IT!!" he shouts, looking almost manic as he dares her to try something as she gets up. Bleeding, busted, he knows she's primed for the kill...so he looks almost disappointed when she suddenly drops a smokebomb and disappears. He doesn't even bother chasing through the smoke as it wafts, eyes peering about warily to make sure it isn't misdirection for an ambush.

Once he's sure she's not coming back, the Shadaloo agent rises up, dusting himself off and grumbling about the tear in his hoodie. "She gone...for good, boss?" 'Tiny' asks, only to get smacked hard in the face by the shorter wrestler. "Looks like, no thanks to you two goons! Now come on, we got schedules, you morons! Weak ass freakin' morons..." he shouts, pointing them down the road and making them take the lead.

It's easier for him to hide his shakes that way. There's a little shiver up his spine as he finally relaxes. He did a number on her...but he got LUCKY doing it. "Damn scary little bitch..." he groans under his breath. Good thing he's DAMN good at putting up a facade... "HEY! MOVE IT, YOU IDIOTS! You think I want my slice of Shadaloo to remain you two nitwits?!" Scary town, Sunshine....scary....
