Cammy - The Gig

Description: Jace is throwing a concert in London, and Delta Red have backstage passes!

It's about 12AM in London, the concert having let out just under twenty minutes ago. It was a good one, as such things go, with an eclectic set list including some music off of Jace's albums, a tune from his Old West Vampire themed broadway show, and covers which included Metallica (your welcome) and a dang-near intimate cover of Smokey Robinson's 'Cruisin' involving a lucky young lady from the audience being brought up on stage. This is, of course, not to detract from the phenomenal dancing, lighting and pyrotechnics that were made to work in this smaller venue. It appeared vary much like Jace's full show that packs stadiums worldwide, thanks to good stagecraft.

There is still a hustle and bustle of activity behind the stage as portions are being broken down and put into storage to be moved to Jace's next stop. The performers, their work already done, are gathered around in a lounge area set up with couches, chairs and tables with food and drinks. This is where one can find Jace, leaning back with an arm thrown over the back of one of the couches. This is where anyone with the distributed backstage passes are brought to, having priority over the news reports which come later in the morning after things have settled down.

Cammy has her backstage pass, and the sort of buzz you get from attending a live concert - unfortunately she doesn't actually recognise any of the songs he plays really, golden oldies mean nothing to her. Even if Metallica isn't that old. But not knowing anything doesn't mean she doesn't enjoy it, on the contrary, if you just heard Metallica for the first time you'd be very happy most likely!

Especially as Lita is apparently happy.

She makes her way backstage, a little puzzled as to what you're supposed to do back there or why there are so many screaming fangirls, and presumably fanboys. And... she still has her uniform on. Does she ever take it off???

When Cammy decided to drag her to this concert, Lita wasn't sure what to think of it. She wasn't someone who was into pop as a genre but she figured she'd go along anyway though she tried hard to control the urge to facepalm when she met up with Cammy at the concert and saw her in her Delta Red uniform. She realized immediately that she was going to need to take the girl shopping for more casual clothes.

Clad in a more casual, blue, long sleeved button down shirt and jeans, she seems at least closer to fitting in but not quite. That's mainly due to her being a bit older than most of Jace's demographic.

To her surprise she found herself liking it though she found herself inwardly cringing at the Metallica covers. But on the whole enjoying the concert as a whole. Coming in side by side with Cammy, to the backstage area. "You met this guy before, right? What's he like?"

Continuing with the relaxing bull session, Jace stands up and turns towards the catering table. He's quick about fixing himself a drink, but he seems to be dragging. Probably all that moving around on stage. He stops for a moment, takes a step to the side and grabs a plate with a few sammiches on it. Some of those finger sandwiches you find at picnics. The atmosphere backstage is fairly casual, with people conversing with backup dancers and others involved in the show. A few approach Jase and he carries on a casual and transient conversation with them. Jace turns to go back to his couch, a bit of olive green catching his eye.

He looks around until he spots Cammy. Weaving through the people, he approaches the two with a wide grin as he announces, "You made it!" He looks towards Lita with a bright smile, "Hello!" He glances back towards Cammy again and smiles wanly, "And you put the second ticket to good use, too."

"He's quite friendly enough." Cammy tells Lita as she makes her way past the security guards. "And very talkative. He'd have talked my ear off at the airport I think if I gave him a chance...". And oh, there he is. Cammy puts on her best smile, made all the easier after all the jumping around out there.

"Good evening Jace." she says quite formally. "Quite fun really. So you must be quite famous then, there are a lot of people out there screaming your name...". And she nods at his observation. "This is my friend and associate, Lita Luwanda." she tells him. "It took a little effort to get her to come but I think she enjoyed it now she's here! Next time I will bring my Japanese friend, Ibuki, maybe.". She glances over at Lita. "You have to meet Ibuki as well, at some point soon.".

"Takative you say?" She's cut off by the fact that Cammy has spotted the person in question making their way right to them. She puts on a smile as well, "Jace? It's nice to meet you." She extends her hand forward in order to shake his hand.

"Yeah. It took some arm twisting but I'm finally here. It wasn't bad." Internally she's fighting the urge to say, 'But did you have to cover Metallica?' No need to be rude. It's not like he's Adon.

Jace laughs, "Is that what they were yelling? Hard to tell sometimes, but I guess?" He shrugs his shoulders slightly, then adds, "Smaller crowds than when I was younger and putting four or five number ones out a year." He shakes his head and shrugs, "Well, I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. I was looking around for you to bring you up on the stage to sit in the chair..." He's referring, of course, to the Smokey Robinson cover that gets pretty intimate (ie: Jace looks like he gives a pretty good lapdance) with the designated hottie on stage, "...but those lights get bright."

He shoots Lita yet another smile and adds a nod, "Thanks for coming out tonight, Lita. I hope she really didn't twist your arm." His eyes narrow, and he peers suspiciously at Cammy, "You... didn't... did you? I'd feel bad."

He smirks back towards Lita, waiting for the bomb to drop and seems genuinely surprised when it doesn't, "That's it?! It wasn't bad? No qualifier?" He laughs, "Usually it's like: O-M-G, the show wasn't bad BUT..." He makes a big proclaimation of the 'but' and then continues, "...you totally didn't bring me up on stage when my large, pink glitter and furlined fansign clearly shows you I'm your number one fan." He glances behind him, then gestures for them to follow, "Come on. We've got a snack table and a couch this way." He then turns himself, walking towards his sitting arrangement before his trip to the snack table, "Hey guys! This is Cammy and her friend Lita. I met Cammy on the trip over."

Several commiserating stage hands and backup dancers wave and say hello while a number of fankids shoot daggers at them. Jace settles onto the couch with a thud, taking in a deep breath and exhaling slowly. As if it's all catching up to him now.

Cammy shakes her head, and laughs. "If she didn't want to come she wouldn't come, I can assure you of that. She's my boss, sort of.". Not the boss of bosses, but above her in the hierarchy. "A snack table and a couch?". She follows along gamely.

"So, why do you give out all these backstage tickets then in the first place?" Cammy wonders, not really getting this part of the performance. "Just to meet people you know? Like us?". She waves back to the stage hands and dancers and fangirls. Why is that fangirl scowling at her? The ex-doll just looks a bit confused.

"I never thought London could be as violent as Southtown, but maybe I was wrong." she says, a little worried. British schools dont have the whole Japanese schoolgirl killer thing going on but who knows, maybe some of these fangirls are like Sakura???

"Nah. Not literally," adding to Cammy's comments on the subject. "Besides, she knows that I'll twist her arm right back." After that, she gives Cammy a playful elbow nudge with a bit of an impish grin on her face. "Or at least literal arm twisting wasn't the reason." She lets out a snort of barely contained laughter.

When Lita gets her composure back. "No qualifier. Though next time if I show up, the qualifier might be that you didn't bring Cammy up on stage." Lita might be having a little too much fun at her subordinate's expense with her ribbing but the thing is, she does it out of love and respect for her sister in arms.

Lita grabs a plate of food and respectfully nods to the stage crew and entourage offering waves and smiles as well before following Jace and Cammy over to the couch. It's when she finds the need to explain the backstage pass though she's pretty sure that Jace could go into further detail if needed. "It gives people a chance to meet the artist and hang out with them and in a way allows them feel as though they're very important people."

And then she sees the glare of one fangirl elsewhere before following the sight line of Cammy to the path of another glaring fan girl. "I don't you should worry about them. If they ever want to meet Jace here, they'll be well behaved and will keep their jealousy in check." What she leaves unsaid in words but spoken loudly in tone is, that Jace's security might be the least of their problems. So confident Lita is in the talent of Cammy and the strength of both of their training. Even if Lita isn't carrying her sword.

Taking a hold of, then a bite out of the ham sandwich, Jace nods his head, "Well, yeah. What Lita said. People I know will always get a backstage pass if I'm in town, but that's basically it." He then speaks a little louder, "It's so I don't just have the backup dancers to talk to all night." He clears his throat, taking a sip of some pepsi and concedes, "Well, as long as there was no literal arm twisting involved, I can be ok with that..."

He then nods in agreement with Lita, raising a fist to chin level, "Should anyone give you any problems back here, they will face the true power of Jace Timmons." He extends his index finger, pointing to his mouth as he smooches the air in front of him not once, not twice, but three whole times. A collective sighs breezes through the room from the gathering of fans.

"Oh, I'm not really worried, just a bit surprised is all, Lita. Are they jealous?". Cammy blinks, and then looks back to Jace. "So you must be /really/ famous." she concludes. She even blushes a little. "Well, I'm afraid I live under a rock in general. I didn't really understand. You must have thought me very cold, at the airport, if this is what you are used to.".

She watches the fans swoon, and blinks, before turning back to Jace again. "Wow. So I guess I must be quite honoured then, being back here!". She is clearly getting into this... "So how come you had to be persuaded to come here, Lita?" she wonders, now she realises that she is in the presence of greats.

Oh noes. The dreaded persuasion question! How should Lita answer this? That McCoy or Ginzu probably wouldn't let her live it down especially considering she is a Metallica fan? No. Her nightly workout routine? No. She goes with another ill advised reason since she's currently surrounded by the people she's about to bad mouth right about now.

Her voice goes low since starting a riot in fangirl land is probably a bad idea, "Truth be told, I didn't think it would be all that fun since... Umm... I kinda find your fan base a bit... Annoying in how they portray themselves in online media. But never the less it was fun."

With a quick nod of his head, "Oh yeah. They're jealous. You spent a number of hours on a plane all alone with me. Most don't realize I fly commercial for the boost it gives to the immune system. By the way, I did not find you cold at the airport. You were quite relaxed in what was an awkward situation what with Robbie yelling about assless rhinestone chaps." He then shakes his head, "Try not to let the fame go to my head, will ya? I'm already starting to buy my own hype." Without even blinking, Jace replies, "Yes, it _is_ a great honor to be back here, Cammy. In this wonderful place, amongst radio contest winners, epic fangirls, and the pop music equivalent of carnies. It's..." He pauses a moment, seeking the correct phrase to intimate the magnitude of this honour to his friend, "It's practically a royal peerage when I'm in town." He smirks, shooting Cammy a quick wink before he looks towards Lita.

He glances around, conspiritorially, and then leans towards Lita. His voice drops low as he responds, "Most fanbases portray themselves as annoying in online media. They flame me in Harry Potter fan forums for trying to rip of Rob Pattinson's hair style, which is incredibly unfair by the way, since I practically taught that piano playing prick how to use gel." He takes a deep breath, breathing out slowly as he holds out his hands to placate... well... himself. "It's ok. I'm not mad." He then continues, "Thank you for coming tonight and judging the content of my show, and not the context some of my more heated fans place it in." He blinks once, looks away, "That's a darn good ham sammich." He reaches over, taking another bite out of it before slapping it back down on the plate and chasing it with the pepsi.

"I was in a different cabin." Cammy reminds Jace, amused. "Oh, I remember the rhinestone chaps. I did hear that Americans love those, though.". Ah, rumours. And maybe some commandoes having a laugh at Guile's expense one night while Cammy listened.

"Epic fangirls. I don't know if I'm a fangirl yet." she says Jace, not quite liking the notion of being somehow counted among his minions /just/ yet. "I'll have to bring Ibuki next time for sure though, she might like it. And she'll be very, um, responsive, I'm sure.". Cammy can just imagine a ninja fangirl screaming adoration at Jace for some reason. Maybe. Ibuki seems quite calm really but she's sure all those fangirls were too until they got almost backstage!

"Not very healthy food though." she says a little disapprovingly. She noses around a bit at the plates, cheesecake hunter on the prowl.

Well at least Lita didn't say that she found his fan base to be a bunch of vapid bimbos and a complete waste of space. And she didn't say it so everyone could hear. It would've been as if the Delta Red was spoiling for a fight. Diplomacy is the order of the day. Though diplomacy does not mean that she won't be honest. "I'm not exactly sure I would've imagined you singing Metallica though. Though that might be me being an annoying member of the heavy metal fan base." Well at least she can perform a little self deprecation in the process. Who knows? It may even soften the blow.

"And I don't think I can consider myself a 'fan girl' myself. I do respect your talent, and the hard work you obviously put in." And that, coming from Lita is high praise. She is not someone who uses the r-word lightly.

Raising an eyebrow, Jace shakes his head, "I didn't say you were an epic fangirl, only that you're amongst them. I think a couple of these girls were behind a scheme that ultimately melted the phone line to a radio station holding a contest for these backstage passes... You're not supposed to be able to do that on the new digital lines, but they figured it out. It's amazing, really. I can get behind tenacity like that." He leaves it up in the air whether he has or not. Maybe when he was younger. He tilts his head towards Cammy for a moment and grins, "I can illicit a response either way. Don't worry. Bring your friend around to meet me sometime. I don't mind."

He looks towards Lita now, considering the statement carefully, "You know, through the miracle of modern technology, songs written in the 20th century and beyond will live on forever. Well after the sheet music turns to dust. But if the kids don't know about it, they won't look for it. So I throw some covers into my show to keep the music alive." He then nods, "Thanks for that."

Cammy doesn't think Delta Red versus a horde of screaming fangirls would necessarily go very well anyway, so she's glad it's not going to come that. "I will next time. Or perhaps not at one of your concerts, I'm sure she'd like to meet you. I think she prefers J-pop though somehow. She's from Southtown, I think, after all, I just meet her whenever I'm over there.".
"Oh, that reminds me, for some reason." Cammy smiles. "After your first comment to me in the airport. I contacted the SNF people and volunteered. So when you see me getting beaten up on international TV, you'll know it's your fault.".

Lita never thought about it in that way and he's right. Without knowing that its out there, people won't find good music and she can get behind that type of philosophy but she can't help but wonder if someone isn't exactly the best representative available to sing the song, wouldn't it be doing the music a disservice. She contemplates that for a moment.

Her train of thought on the nature of music is interrupted by the fact that Cammy has stated that she's going on SNF. "Bah. I'm pretty sure you'll do well, Cammy. Don't worry about it."

Lita glances at her watch and frowns before looking at her subordinate. "Cammy, I think we should probably head back to base before Major McCoy or Colonel Wolfman have our heads." She spares a quick glance to Jace and smiles, "And thank you for the invite and the entertainment. Though I'm pretty sure you should be giving those fan girls your attention now." She gives Jace a mischievous smile and then motions for Cammy to follow.
