Description: When Cammy comes into MI6 to file a report on her actions in Myanmar. When accusations of what happened in the past are brought up. One person is ready to tell the truth, however, the other isn't quite ready to hear it yet.
It's a few days after the encounter with Adon in Myanmar, and due to tying up various other loose ends - like Guile's promised rematch - Cammy is a bit tardy in visiting Delta Red's HQ for the debrief with Colonel Wolfman's minion Lita.
Having got lost several times in the huge MI6 building in London trying to find the Delta Red section, to her great shame, she eventually finds the part she's looking for - a collection of offices, the mandatory training hall, armouries and the like. Armed with a room number for a destination, she counts off the doors, until finally, she thinks she is at her destination.
She knocks on Lita's door, waits for a polite moment - ideally someone saying she can come on in! - and then slips into her office, beret clutched in one hand rather than on her head.
Meanwhile, Lita's in her office staring at paperwork from her own particular missions so that she can have her things forwarded to Colonel Wolfman. If there was one thing she despised about her work, it was paper pushing she had to do between melee combat training sessions and Delta Red missions.
After a while, she decides she needs a break and stands up from her desk and computer and walks around looking at her office with cricket bats, her childhood cricket trophies, and various military awards in a places of honour on her wall.
After that, she's about to lounge on her leather couch when she hears a knock on her door.
"Who is it?" She still expects them to come in however. Anyone not supposed to be in this section wouldn't have gotten that far.
Cammy slinks in, spending a moment to look around the unfamiliar room, with paperwork covering the desk. So happens she plans on adding to it, given that she's got a folder clutched in one hand explaining just what she got up to in Myanmar, and where all Delta Red's discretionary funds for the operation went. Fortunately Munin wasn't very expensive.
"Cammy White." she says, looking up at Lita and blinking, offering her a salute. "I just got back from Myanmar, more or less.". She waves the folder, and then adds, "I wrote up a report. I hope it's what is expected..." she says, a little worried, never having written one before. Not that she remembers, anyway. As she's diligent, there's a small novel in there, written with tiny, precise letters, something which probably won't amuse whoever it is whose job it is to read it all. "You must be Lieutenant Luwanda?". Just checking she's in the right place.
"That would be me." There's a bit of a raised eyebrow still not quite used to Cammy not knowing exactly who she is. It still felt like yesterday when she had appropriated Cammy's Cannon Spike for her own usage. But she has seen the reports she knows about her amnesia. "Cammy White, it's good to see you again. I hope you're doing better."
She glances at the manila folder clutched in the other blonde's hand before looking Cammy in the eye. "What can I do for you?"
Deep inside, Lita is filled with a sense of dread. She remembers the first time Cammy filled out a report the first time she met her. And she had just convinced her to ease up a bit before she disappeared.
"I'm well enough I suppose, all things considered. I just got back from a rematch with Captain Guile - I didn't win that one. But he's so nice about it all, I'm not bothered. He even bought the drinks afterwards." she grins.
"Colonel Wolfman said to give any reports I make to you.". Cammy looks... slightly worried. "I hope I didn't miss anything out important." she says self consciously, and flips open the folder to peer at a few of the sheafs of paper within with the dense handwriting on them. "Everything important, at least; if I missed anything out, don't hesitate to contact me and I'll fill in the blanks." she promises.
The ex-doll holds out the folder to be taken.
Lita takes the folder and opens it up for a moment paging through it quietly. It's detailed incredibly so but not so much so that it is painful to read. Still it'll be relatively time consuming. Mentally, she marks the things that are really important. And getting to part about Adon makes her stomach turn. That part was the part she would've definitely preferred less details.
"You know, it's kind of a shame that I didn't get to crack open that kick boxer's head. Either way you did the world a favor."
At the point where it mentions Munin and where the discretionary funds went, Lita frowns slightly. Regardless of whether or not it was expensive, she dislikes the idea of Delta Red hiring mercenaries that she hadn't a personal look at first. Munin hadn't proven herself to her yet and because of that, she isn't quite comfortable with that. If Cammy were to get seriously injured, because someone that wasn't exactly a quality combatant screwed up, she would be fiercely angry.
Cammy is now somewhat paranoid, so needless to say, as soon as Lita frowns, she starts getting a bit antsy. "Oh, well, there's always another time for that. I'm sure we'll work together in the future. Umm. I didn't include that rematch I had with Guile. Should I have done that?" she asks, wondering just how much it is of what she's up to that Delta Red want to know.
"I mean I can include that too, there were some conversations I had in Southtown while on vacation there a little while back as well, maybe they will be interesting?". She doesn't really seem too bothered by things like privacy or anything like that... but there's no doubting her eagerness to please.
"Something is wrong?" she eventually asks.
When Cammy makes her paranoia known, Lita begins to back track. While the report was detailed, it contained everything pertaining to the mission which is good. While Lita has incredible respect for hard workers she doesn't like it when unecessary work is done. It makes work harder than it needs to be just because one has to sort through the extra bits and pieces to get to the stuff they need. "No that won't be necessary, Cammy. Just the things that pertained to the mission at hand."
She takes a deep breath and tries to smile to at least put the younger Delta Red at ease. "It's just I don't really know this Munin character who was hired to work with you. I don't know her level of experience nor anything about her fighting style or any details that would make me feel comfortable risking sending one of my own out there with her."
Eventually she smiles. "In a way, Delta Red is my family and I don't to see any of you guys get hurt."
Cammy smiles a bit at that, relieved. Well, thats not so bad then. "Munin, I did write a small report on her too, it's near the end." she explains, just about managing to resist the urge to go over there and show Lita where that part of the report is. "I think she's very good, actually. She handled four Muay Thai experts without much problem at all. I'm sure if she wasn't there I would have been quite possibly overwhelmed, and she was certainly motivated; a little too motivated in fact, if anything. So everything was fine in the end.".
"Oh, I don't know if you've read Ken Masters magazine...? I saw a website preview of an upcoming issue on my phone's internet. I think I'm going to go visit him, and tell him the truth about Adon. I happened to skim it on the train back down from Oxford and, well, it seems to be something of a tissue of lies to me, practically propaganda. Given what he was up to in Myanmar I think someone should tell Ken just what he's been up to.".
Cammy's respect of Munin's abilities, is enough for her to ease her concerns a little bit. There's still a bit of concern though mainly because Munin has still yet to prove herself to Lita. Eventually she does get to the point in the report on Munin's capabilities nodding for a few moments.
"No I haven't. But after hearing that, I'll be /sure/ to. Sounds like that Adon chap could use a media black eye to go with the one you two gave him in Myanmar." Her lips form into a devious smile. "By all means, tell Ken."
Cammy nods, and grins again. Despite the sordid topic. "Adon seems to think he's some sort of hero, and I thought Ken wouldn't tolerate that sort of thing. I know he did ruin one of Ken's fights apparently but that's pretty minor compared to what he was up to in Myanmar, I think.".
"Oh... one question, if I may." she asks, looking a little cagey. "You did work with me before, right? You know me?". She has been getting a few wild accusations from certain quarters, and she feels the need for a little reassurance on the subject...
Lita remains quiet for the entire time Cammy is speaking especially when Cammy asks that one question. There's amoment of contemplative silence before she answers. Her main reason being that she has a feeling she knows where her subordinate is going with this. Especially since there are gaps in her past.
A look of concern appears on the Lieutenant's face. "Yes we have worked together. Why do you ask?"
While Lita is certain she knows the exact reason why, she wants to make sure, and not give Cammy something that she wasn't exactly prepared for.
"Oh, well...". She shrugs, faintly embarassed about going on, given it's rather... accusing. "Some people out there say kinda bad things about Delta Red and Colonel Wolfman, and even Captain Guile. I don't really believe them, especially now. I'm sure you're not lying.". Cammy nods a small nod at that, she's pretty good at seeing through bullshit.
"About who I work for, and why, and, that sort of thing, I guess. I guess they just me be misguided, or criminals looking to sow dissension, or something like that.". She waves a red gauntleted hand dismissively. "Never mind.".
While Lita's bullshit detector is nowhere near as highly trained as Cammy's, she has one that's just good enough to know that Cammy's not speaking her mind or at least not fully speaking her mind. But her instincts are screaming at her to find out the whole story.
"What exactly are they saying?" She pauses for just an instant before following up. "I mean, I can't help you unless you're willing to tell me your concerns."
"Enh. A couple of people have said that Delta Red is just using me somehow, and you are all lying to me about my past, so I don't quit. I don't believe them though." Cammy adds quickly. "It doesn't make any sense, everybody I've met here pretty much agrees that I worked here before. And you do all seem to know me somehow. ".
She shrugs, and goes on. "And even if they were... the colonel is a good man, I'm sure of it. But I don't know. You did ask." she says, blushing a little in embarassment, as she did pretty much just tell Lita to her face that maybe, just maybe, she thinks she's lying to her right now.
And even now she hasn't really said everything - but the rest is, in her mind at least, somewhat more personal.
In truth, she saw part of it coming. Not all of it or rather, she saw it coming from a different direction. Where she saw it coming from the direction of all the things Cammy had done between the last time Lita had worked with her and now. "And it's true. You have worked with us before. In fact you were the one who had taught me one of the moves I use in combat today. But I get the feeling you mean something else completely. Am I right?"
She's not exactly sure how the Colonel wanted to handle it but she believes that Cammy does deserve to know what she had done, regardless of whether or not she had control over herself. And delaying it won't do anyone any favors. But she will wait for when Cammy deems herself ready to find out the truth.
"I won't lie to you to keep you here. If I had to do that, we don't deserve to have you with us. So if you have any questions, now is the time to ask them."
"Maybe." Cammy replies, wrinkling her nose. Two commandoes, both being somewhat cagey. "I don't know. I don't want to know." she decides. "I trust Colonel Wolfman, and you too, thats good enough for me." she decides. "And aside from the uniform I like Delta Red well enough. I think we've done a lot of good work even in just these couple of months that I've been here for.".
"I have a few other friends, as well, maybe I'll talk to them - in any case, I'm sure whatever seems to have happened it'll sort itself out. For now I'm happy about dealing with Adon, and I don't want to ruin the feeling." she decides. Though it's pretty plain that she'll add Lita to the list of people who have implied to her that something terrible has happened that people keep skirting around.
And with Cammy backing off on it, she runs on the assumption that that Cammy isn't quite ready for it yet. And so she doesn't press further. She can't help but feel sad at the things she's seen in the news about Cammy since she left, someone who she views not just a fellow soldier but a little sister. She hardens herself, determined not to break down in front of another soldier. She may show the softer side to her in front of the Delta Reds but there's a limit to the softness she's willing to show.
Eventually she regains her composure. "Well, I'm here whenever you want to talk, Cammy. Anything else I can do for you?"
Cammy is either oblivious to Lita's inner turmoil, or in 'don't want to know' mode and blanking it out. In any case, she just nods and smiles at the offer. "Thanks, Lieutenant, I appreciate it. Oh... I promised Captain Guile a night out with some of the other Delta Red folks, so one day we'll have to do that with him. Though I think I'll pass on all the burgers he eats...".
She offers Lita a salute, as as far as she's concerned after all she only just met her - hard to be informal, even if she seems quite friendly. "Well, I assume you or Colonel Wolfman will contact me as soon as the next job comes up.".
"Sounds fun. Anyway, if it's not me or Colonel Wolfman, it'll probably be Major McCoy, giving you the heads up on the next mission." She snaps off a salute to her subordinate and then when Cammy leaves, she moves towards her desk and uses a key on the one that has a lock on it. She her hand goes specifically to a certain folder which at this point has been so deeply ingrained into her muscle memory. She pulls out a folder. She opens it up and has pictures and a disk in a pouch on the side that says, Delta Red. On the other side there's newspaper clippings in the pouch that says, Shadaloo.
A few moments are taken to look at the Shadaloo with a sigh before she looks at the Delta Red side to pull out the disk, and inserts it into the disk drive of her desktop computer. After a short wait, a video plays of Lita and Cammy sparring as part of a Delta Red training session.
