Ken - Ties that Bond

Description: Old bonds to the past tie people together, but the future is what drives them forward. In an effort to prove his point, Ken reveals something he's been hiding for some time now...

Deep in the mountains of Japan lies an often forgotten span of land, which truly is significant to two of the worlds most famed warriors. It's been a good number of years since one of those two has returned to this spot, heartbroken and still filled with rage over what happened years ago at this very site. Of course, this isn't the time to dwell on what happened so long ago.

It's not often that Ken Masters goes off the radar, leaving only his wife with knowledge of what is going on. He knows she won't tell anyone, not even the one person in the world who she'd tell anything to in regards to her husband. Complete secrecy has reigned on what he's been doing with some of his free time.

So there is sits, staring out over the wreckage of what was once his home for so many years, sitting under one of the few spots that the rain isn't hitting. It's there that he waits for someone to arrive, knowing that today could either make or break his point to this who threw his current challenge down to. "I hope you're paying attention." The words are spoken to those he knows is watching.

And thus he continues to wait.

Shun was watching. Ken was right about that, not that he really could be wrong. After all, Ken had challenged her, and Shun didn't see any option but to accept the challenge that was offered. And so she is watching. She's nearby, in fact, behind a pillar inside the temple, her head peaking around the corner and her eyes settled on the man she had claimed as her master.

"I am watching, Masters-Sensei." Simple words, spoken softly. Shun didn't move from her spot, her eyes watching everything like a hawk, waiting. Patiently. For the sign for her to come out of her impromptu hiding place. The girl was anticipating the challenge, despite not knowing the exact details yet at this moment in time.

She believed that she was ready.

Because she believes that Ken Masters must feel so if he offered this challenge.

With Ken off the radar, and much work needing to be done, Guile has placed his resources into seeking out his wily brother-in-law. A call from Ken's wife sets him on the right track, and he can be found skirting the edge of the temple grounds. In spite of heavy nature of his boots, the special forces commando knows just how to place them to cause no sound to eminate due to his foot steps. He makes his entrance into the temple under stealth, not entire sure what his brother is up to. He finds shadow against the wall, leaving only his silohuette and trademark flattop to give any inkling to anyone that Guile has arrived.

"Shun, after today I'm no longer going to really be your master. You're going to go off in your own journey." Ken slowly climbs to his feet, rolling his shoulders to release the tension that's been slowly building up.

"Ansatsuken is the killing fist, however the version that I have been taught isn't used for killing. We do not take life because it is precious. However, regardless of how much we dumb it down it is still lethal. YOU ARE STILL LETHAL." Chi slowly starts to build up within the crimson clad man, sliding into a stance that generally isn't one that he would use. This is the stance of the man who had taught him, the one that had fallen on this very spot.

"You will feel temptation for power that is above all else. I have succumbed to it, and still feel its call. However I have chosen to strive to keep it at bay, as has the man I call my brother. The demon that slayed my master did so on this very spot, showing the true horrors that the Satsui no Hadou can hold. You've not chosen an easy path. Now you're going to show me how dedicated you are. Those who follow the path of Gouken must not waiver."

COMBATSYS: Ken has started a fight here on the left meter side.

On that call, Shun moved from her position. Recognizing Ken's stance as one meant for combat, the girl closed her eyes briefly before moving in. "I am lethal, Masters-Sensei." Shun agreed, her voice firm and focused as she moved as fast as she could. "I will feel a temptation of power, and I will feel its call." She agrees once more, not wavering any word she spoke.

As quick as she moved, she suddenly changed her path, moving orthagonally to Ken rather than going in for an immediate punch or other kind of attack. But she does attack, her hands going to her side and forming chi, then she announces her attack, the same attack that she used to convince Ken to train her. "GIJI HADOUKEN!" Thrusting her hands forwards, a small chi blast reminiscent of the real hadouken flew.

"I shall not waiver."

COMBATSYS: Shun has joined the fight here.

As the ramifications of what is said between them occurs to Guil, his eyes widen and his jaw slackens. As chi begins flying, Guile ducks low within the shadow of the temple's interior. He crouches with a bend of his knees, balancing there for a moment until he places his fist down upon the ground. He leans forward and pulls one leg out from beneath him, his eagle eyes locked on the initial combat about to take place in front of him. Also, he is ready to spring should an errant Hadouken or Shoryuken come flying his way.

COMBATSYS: Ken dodges Shun's Giji Hadouken.

Imitation is the sincerist form of flattery, or at least the saying goes. Ken grins slightly as the young woman forms her own ball of chi, sending it hurtling towards him. Of course, it's nothing in a lot of ways in comparison as to what he's used to.

"You need to move faster. Think not just two steps ahead, but three to four. You still have a long way to go from being a master. Even I still don't feel as if I have attained mastery of Ansatsuken.. Yet I'm close to my own limit. Someday you might surpass me. Maybe you won't."

Of course, Ken isn't going to hold back. Quickly rushing forward he spins on the ball of left foot, bringing his left leg arching towards the girl in a brutal roundhouse kick. "Never lose your focus."

COMBATSYS: Shun blocks Ken's Inazuma Kakato Wari.

And the girl moved her arms in front of her, blocking the roundhouse kick with those arms, preventing it from doing as much damage as it could. "Never lose my focus." She echoes while being struck by her master's legs. "I need to move faster." She echoes, too. Albeit, moving faster is easier said than done, practice might make perfect, but she still has a long ways to go.

"I will need to think several steps ahead." She tries to do as she says, rushing her leg into the air, forming a roundhouse kick of her own. One that she attempts to use to strike at Ken. "And I still have a long ways to go before I will be a master."

"But I will work on it." Dedication in that voice.

COMBATSYS: Ken blocks Shun's Inazuma Kakato Wari.

The crimson clad Ansatsuken master's arm rises upwards, allowing the leg to slam against it instead of the intended target. The blow is strong, but its not strong enough to truly put a dent in Ken's defenses, making him shake his head slightly. "It's still not enough. Every punch, every kick.. they all must be treated as if your life is truly on the line. It is life or death, and the balance between both is a very real and scary thing."

Kneeling down, Ken's legs start to tense up as he prepares his next attack. It's a staple of the Ansatsuken style, but still one that truly can leave an opponent battered when they have to face it down themselves. Springing into the air, his left leg extends outwards as he starts to spin around violently, creating small trails of wind that seek to draw those closer.

"TATSUMAKI SENPUU KYAKU!"

COMBATSYS: Shun interrupts Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku from Ken with Shouken.

Ken              0/-------/----===|=====--\-------\0             Shun

Shun's response doesn't even truly resemble the Shoryuken. It's got a complete lack of chi, but the movements are roughly the same, and Shun's cry of "SHOUKEN" leaves no doubt as to its inspiration as she strikes Ken in an uppercut while being battered by her master's legs, likely hurting him less than he hurts her. It's not a lack of effort, nor a lack of talent. It's just the sheer lack of experience and skill compared to Ken.

Bleeding slightly from her nose, Shun can't help but smirk as she answers her master, "I will make every punch, every kick, as though my life was truly on the line. I will show that I am worthy of using the style known as Ansatsuken."

"I can't fail, I can't allow it."

It actually hurt a bit more then Ken'd ever like to admit. He falls to the ground hard, quickly rolling himself back upwards into a standing position. There's a slight grin on his face as he stares at the girl, only to glance over in the area where their stalker lies in wait. The presence is one Ken already knows, so its time to put on more of a show.

"Words in the end mean nothing. It's the actions we use to back them up that really matter. There's plenty of other people out there that will back that up and prove it to you in ways that will hurt." Of course, Ken's not about to let the new generation get away with thinking that they're the cock of the walk.

Ken quickly leaps away from Shun now, putting a good deal of space between them, tensing his muscles rapidly to get more blood flowing. It's obvious he's starting to get fully fired up now, and none of his attacks will be held back anymore.

"It's time for me to get serious now."

COMBATSYS: Ken starts to get serious!

"If you are getting serious, Master. Then I will have no choice but to give it my all!" Shun looks all stoic and serious now, moving towards Ken with focused eyes. Her movements are precise, measured, and talented. Ken will likely be able to predict them, but that's less of a matter to Shun than showing that she IS ready. That she will be able to hold her ground.

When she is close enough to to Ken to strike, it may not look like much. In fact, it really isn't much. Her left fist strikes out. She's going for a fairly rapid blow to Ken Master's nose, hoping to land a blow where she failed earlier. She doesn't speak, letting her fists do the talking instead of her mouth...

COMBATSYS: Ken dodges Shun's Quick Punch.

The grin that was present upon Ken's face isn't present anymore as he quickly steps to the side as Shun rushes him, focusing solely upon the way she moves, allowing her own reflexes to tell him just where she's going to be next. Its something that truly takes years of experience to get down, but most high calibur fighters are able to do it with ease.

"Shun, prepare yourself."

The chi that had been swelling up within Ken starts to surge forth, creating a crimson glow upon his right fist. He quickly moves in towards Shun, only to drop down and bring the fist rocketing upwards in what appears to be a Shoryuken.. However if it lands, it will truly prove that it wasn't just that. While the girl is in the air, a series of rapid kicks will strike forth, slamming against her body until all of her defenses have fallen, leaving her open for the final blow. Once more he'll duck down low, this time rocketing upwards towards her jaw allowing the chi that had formed to explode outwards creating a violent torrent of flames.

"SHINRYUU KEN!"

COMBATSYS: Shun parries Ken's Shinryuu Ken+!

Ken              0/-------/-------|======-\-------\0             Shun

Shun prepared herself, and knowing Ken's movements from what she had studied on footage (and perhaps even seen in person once) she knew what was coming, and she did just the right thing. Ducking below the Shoryuken and moving aside the kicks and using his own movements to her advantage. She found an opening, she knew what she was going to do...

...and so she tried to do it, as Ken moved his strikes, she made her own. Crouching down before jumping up, trying to make use of Ken's focus on a failed attack, she spinned, one leg moving around as she went for a rapidly spinning assault. Whether or not this move succeeds, the fact that she made this opening possible is enough for her to grin broadly.

She really is faring better than she expected she would.

COMBATSYS: Ken endures Shun's Senpuu Kyaku EX.

Ken              0/-------/--=====|======-\-------\0             Shun

There is a slight sense of pride as Shun manages to parry his attack, however Ken isn't going to allow her to know it outright. Right now he's doing his best to be a wall that she'll have to face and overcome, in order to grow on her own.

What doesn't make sense is the fact he allows her next attack to slam into head on, forcing his body back a few inches as he remains in the same stance as before. There's a slight flicker as chi once more starts to grow upon his fist. She knows how to perform it, but facing it head on is something else. Once more he rushes forward, dropping down low, only to rocket upwards as chi explodes outwards to envelop Shun in flames.

"SHORYUKEN!"

COMBATSYS: Ken successfully hits Shun with Shoryuken.

This time, Shun is too slow. She tries to brace herself to block Ken's strike, but she lacks the speed to block thos Shoryuken. Tumbling back from the force of the blow, blood seeping from the corner of her mouth, she really got hurt bad by that attack. But that does NOT mean she's ready to give up yet. She's dissapoint herself AND Ken if she did that.

So she takes her distance, looking at Ken and trying to find holes in his movements, erraticisms he doesn't usually have, an abnormal weakness to abuse. Anything that will allow her to strike with more success than she has had so far. There's no need to hurry this fight, not when she was doing so well so far.

And so she prepares...

COMBATSYS: Shun focuses on her next action.

[       \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\  < >  ////////////                  ]
Ken              0/-------/-======|=======\=====--\1             Shun

While normally he would try to hold back, this is something Ken just can't do this time. He's not going to allow her the chance to try and regain her rhythm in the fight without having to truly work for it. Already he's having a flashback to his own final test with Gouken, remembering the trials he had to go through all those years ago.

"Time doesn't stop. You will grow older, and what you do from this point on will determine how you spend the rest of your days. Will you engage in battle after battle, trying to better yourself as Ryu does? I didn't choose the path he did. We both realized that no matter what.. we must pick our own paths and stick to them without faltering. There have been quite a few times we've had to remind eachother of that."

Once more Ken rushes forward, this time swinging his right leg towards Shun in hopes to catch her in yet another brutal torrent of attacks. "You're the next generation. No matter what, you will never be alone. Make friends, find rivals, but never ever forget that above all else, you are a warrior!"

"SHIPPUUJINRAI KYAKU!"

COMBATSYS: Shun interrupts Shippuujinrai Kyaku from Ken with Shoryuken.
- Power hit! -

Ken              0/-------/----===|=====--\-------\0             Shun

And of course, now that she's here, fighting Ken for her final test... Shun can't hold back. She moves instinctively in response to Ken, and when he launches his hurricane kick she reacts. Through the brutal torrent of attacks her fist flares with chi, moving it upwards as she cries out the attack's name proudly.

"SHORYUKEN!"

She hits Ken squarely in the chin, and so, Ken's onslaught is lessened by his own favoured attack, his signature strike. While this is certainly not a case of the student surpassing the master, it is most definitely a case of the student showing her master that she's taken his lessons to heart, by throwing his lessons right at him.

No matter how many times Ken takes the attack that he's truly perfected, it always hurts. He flies backwards and lands on his back, allowing the rain to wash over him as he stares up to the sky. It really has taken him back, and now he truly knows that he's doing the right thing.

Slowly climbing to his feet, Ken smiles at Shun, nodding his head in approval. "You're doing far better then I had hoped you would. In such a short time, you truly have come a long way. The time is right for you to go out into the world on your own. I have taught you as much as I can, and the rest lies upon you to figure out. Don't be stuck in the same place for all of your life. Evolve and create your own style.. However..."

Once more chi starts to swell in Ken's hands as he starts to form that familiar ball of bluish-white chi, knowing that this very well could end this test.

"HAAAAAADOOOOUUUKEEEN!"

COMBATSYS: Shun parries Ken's Hadouken!

Again, Shun predicts what is coming, and she ducks below the incoming Hadouken, moving towards the man who she calls her master, she weaves around him, waiting for the perfect moment to make her strike. She's doing far, far better than she had expected she would, and that makes her filled with glee. Once she is close enough to strike, she does what she had planned.

From just beyond the range of fists and kicks, the teenager forms similar blueish white chi, holding it in her hands with her eyes gleaming before she throws it forwards. It's not the same as what she had just used to her advantage, but it's similar. It's the same move she opened up with this fight, and when it flies, she hopes it's good enough.

"GIJI HADOUKEN!"

COMBATSYS: Ken blocks Shun's Giji Hadouken EX.

Ken crosses his arms, allowing the blast to slam into them. He grins slightly as he lowers them, walking towards Shun now. "You've done remarkable." He doesn't attack, moving once more to sit down in the ruins of the temple that he had called home so long ago. "I have to admit. You did a lot better then I did." There's a slight motion towards the shadows, knowing full well that he's beckoning the watcher forward.

"Shun. Never forget anything you've learned, but don't be afraid to change it, just like you should never be afraid to change yourself. But don't ever forget this. No matter what, there will ALWAYS be bigger fish in this sea. Some of them are true monsters.. others are more then willing to give you an idea on how to improve yourself. I can't stress this to you enough."

COMBATSYS: Ken has left the fight here.

[                     \\\\\\\\\  <
Shun             0/-------/-======|

Upon being motioned forward by Ken, Guile seems to simply seperate from the shadows and step into the better lit parts of the ruined temple. He is wearing his camo pants and a lightweight, dark green tanktop. Many know this as his clothing of choice for engaging in a fight.

Having no need for stealth anymore, Guile approaches the two, being careful not to step on anything of the temple in case Ken might cherish it as a relic of his old master. He stops a few feet away, standing, and almost imposing himself on the situation at hand. He peers towards Ken for a moment, then looks towards Shun, "I can attest to that. There are horrors in the world that exist at the end of a fist that very few know about. These are the horrors you may face someday."

Recognizing the challenge, the fight, has ended, Shun nods. "Thank you, Masters-Sama." He's said he's not her master anymore starting today, so she doesn't address him as such anymore. "I'm glad I didn't let you down." She follows him to the place where he sits down, joining him there and finally looking towards the watcher.

She had felt a presence, but considering Ken ignored it, she decided not to pay too much attention to it. She wasn't even sure it wasn't some stray animal before now. "A friend of yours, Masters-Sama?" She asks as she tries to make out more than a silhuette, but to little success. Perhaps, once he comes out, she'll be able to see more. And then he comes out and Shun looks over.

"I will try to survive the monsters, and learn from those who I can learn from." She vows, "And I can't do anything but thank you for your aid in my training. If there's nothing more you can teach me, then I will have to get more first-hand experience."

COMBATSYS: Shun has ended the fight here.

Ken merely grins as Guile finally reveals himself, knowing full well just what might be going through ol'Broomhead's brain. "I told you. Charlie be damned." It's a bit of a conversation he had recently with Guile, knowing full well that there are a few questions that could prove to be annoying to address.

I'd suggest you go and challange yourself. Find others to pit yourself against and test your own strength against your peers." Ken leans back now, once more staring at the sky. A few moments pass before he sighs. "Go figure out what you want to do with your path now Shun, and feel free to just call me Ken."

When Ken leans back, Guile crouches with a bend of his knees again. He pulls one leg out from under him again, resting with his knee on the ground. He leans his head forward, looking towards the ground in contemplation before he looks back towards Ken and mentions, "When you mentioned starting a dojo, the first thing that jumped into my head was a bunch of people knee-high to sky-high tearing the roof off the place with Shoryuukens..." He glances at Shun for a moment and then continues, "I had no idea you were already training a student."

He looks towards Shun directly now, "Very impressive, Miss. You have the makings of a great fighter someday. You got it here anyway..." He gestures to his muscled bicep as a way of indicating Shun's physical prowess. "Now you need to make sure you got it here, and here," indicated his temple and his chest in turn." He then adds, "My name is William Guile. Ken is..." He pauses, then shrugs slightly. This is Ken's student after all, but he's obviously uncomfortable in a 'aw jeez' sort of way, "Ken is my brother-in-law."

"Thank you for your training, Ma...Ken." It's a bit of a shift to go to first name basis, like it always is for such things. She looks over to Guile and rises to make a polite bow, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Guile-San." Nnooot quite ready to assume first name basis for someone she just met, even if his brother-in-law is now on her first name basis list.

"Thank you for your praise. Guile-san, I will try not to let you and Ken down." She sits back down and looks toward the man who was her master so recently. "I will challenge myself, I will enter tournaments so I can find diverse opponents to see if I can match or exceed their skill. I will keep fighting for as long as I can still improve myself."

And, not mentioned, for as long as Kazou has yet to acknowledge her!

Ken idly reaches into his gi and pulls out cellphone, which amazingly didn't get smashed up. It's obvious that even though Shou did an amazing job like she did, there is a long road to climb to get to where he is. "Nah. I kept it a secret because it's what I felt was right to do. You yourself have to admit that we're getting older, and we won't last forever. There's going to come a time where what we know will fade away unless we pass it on. It's why I actually wanted you to witness this."

His attention turns back to Shun for a few moments, idly pondering something in the back of his head. He knows that this could actually prove to be a true PR nightmare for his company, but he's already commited himself this much. "Actually.. I may have something for you. It's called the NDP. A lot of the people in it should prove to be good training. Find your way to the United States, and sign up for it. Challange yourself. How you do it is up to you, but I think that it'd do you well."

The crimson clad man's fingers move across the keypad, quickly making a quick text message that'll send itself off once he gets back into a service area. "Good luck Shun. I'll be waiting for the day when you choose to face me as a true opponent."

The crimson clad man's fingers move across the keypad, quickly making a quick text message that'll send itself off once he gets back into a service area. "Good luck Shun. I'll be waiting for the day when you choose to face me as a true opponent."

Listening to Shun for a moment, Guile nods his head, "Good to meet you, too." He looks back towards Ken, listening for a moment before he takes a deep breath in, "Yeah, you did the right thing. You did it right, too..." He shakes his head, "The thing is..." He trails off, trying to find the words. Finally he settles on, "You're more secure in your style than I am," albeit begrudgingly. He adds, "I don't know if teaching Charlie's style is the right thing to do yet, but I'll work with the youngins you send to me and the ones I find myself."

He turns towards Shun, "Startin' with you. You and I are going to tussle soon as we get into the states. Ken and I have different fighting styles. It'll do ya good." He then adds, "Speakin' of, I can get ya as far as California but you're gonna' have to wear a flightsuit."
