Description: Quon, now discharged from hospital after his encounter with Vega, gets debriefed for NATO's benefit by someone he recognises...
After the events in China where Quon was quickly taken down by Vega's overwhelming power, Quon had spent the past couple of weeks in a coma. He was immediately transferred to Russia to be given medical attention just in case he was still considered a criminal in China due to his actions both in Russia and China. While in the hospital, he was fed intravenously through tubes. While his body was ravaged by Psycho Power, it was mostly his mind that bore most of the brunt of the power. He had mentally shut down because he simply couldn't cope with it.
A few days ago, Quon had been roused from his coma and thankfully, it hadn't been so long as to cause atrophy in his muscles but he had to spend most of the past few days catching himself up to what happened while he was gone. Thankfully, it was something he had done before. He had to do that when he returned to civilization after spending so long training at the temple.
It's almost time for Quon to be discharged from the hospital and now it is time for him to pack his beloongings and get ready to go.
Of course, it's only natural that the various NATO countries have an interest in finding out just what happened in China that day. A lot of countries paid a lot of blood and treasure for things to get to arrive at the more or less happy state the world finds itself in today, after all. Vigilante heroes may be appreciated, but somewhere an analyst needs to write a report.
Which is why a small cadre of Delta Red agents are currently in the hospital, looking to debrief any eyewitnesses. A fairly simple task, and so one well suited for their somewhat tender new (old) agent.
And so maybe Quon is surprised by Cammy bustling in with her new uniform, clipboard in hand, red beret on her head, with a squaddie from the regular army at her side. "Good afternoon Mr...". She peers at her clipboard. "Chen? I'm glad to see you're ready to be discharged." she says in practiced tones that suggest that she's said this to several other people already. "I'm with NATO, I was wondering if you'd be willing to tell us just what happened in China - how you sustained the injuries that caused you to end up in our care.". She looks up at him over the rim of the clipboard. "Assuming that now is a good time, of course. I understand that the doctors are a little worried about you.".
When Quon looks up from his bags he sees someone, incredibly familiar to him. His first reaction is to pick up the speed of his packing seeming to associate her with old miseries. He then looks again and sees her with someone who is with NATO with her, he sees a change of uniform and most importantly, he hears that slight pause when she says, 'Mr Chen' instead of Quon. He calms down a bit and then he looks her over once more.
His mind instantly goes to that moment when Cammy asked him if he would remind her of their past if she forgot him and so he takes a deep breath to gather himself once more. "Yes. I'm 'Mr. Chen.' Is there anything specific you would like to know?"
"Oh, I'm sorry." she replies at his apparently dislike of 'mister'. "Quon, then?". She walks past him, to settle down into the chair by the hospital bed, legs crossed at the ankles, with one knee raised up a little so she can rest the clipboard upon one overly muscled, camo painted leg. Then she tugs the biro out of the clipboard, ready to write.
"I am told you were present in China when there was an explosion of some sort. We've received some conflicting reports about just what happened just before that explosion. I don't really want to lead you at all, but suffice to say that what happened in the moments before that explosion are probably the most interesting parts.".
She scrawls a couple of notes onto her page, before she looks back up to him again. "Anything you'd like to tell us?". Her soldier buddy is merely looking at Quon with a bored look on his face while all this is going on.
"Oh no. Mr. Chen, Quon. Either is fine. It's just that you looked like someone I once knew but I think I'm mistaken." He continues to pack as a way avoiding eye contact with the ex-Zero doll. His heart rate is racing however through it all he at least attempts to maintain an appearance of calm. Unfortunately between having a blast from the past return into his life even if he suspects but isn't sure she doesn't remember him, and the fact that he's been fatigued due to being plagued by the nightmarish visions brought on by the power of Vega.
Quon is exhausted, and he wants to be anywhere but here right now but he keeps his tone even. "I don't think I could tell you much actually. First thing I was doing was confronting Vega and the next thing I know I'm unconscious."
Cammy gives Quon a funny look for a moment. He is acting a little weird, for some reason. So it seems to her anyway, though she can't quite place it. She shrugs a little, and reaches up to brush her blonde tuft of hair out of the way with some irritation when she looks back down at the clipboard.
And scrawls. "You see, you've said something quite momentous already. So I think you can tell us a whole lot!" she says brightly. "Confronting Vega? Why don't you talk about that a little. You were on your own? What happened? How did you get there?". The biro hovers over the page expectantly.
"I traveled to China from Russia after fighting Shadaloo forces there including a trained assassin, via a military convoy. I met up with a Muay Thai Kickboxer named Sagat while in China and together we fought Vega" Not a complete lie but he was careful not to mention Rust given the fact that it was no secret that the two didn't get along. And Quite frankly Rust freaking out was the last thing anyone needed.
"Anyway, it appeared that Vega wasn't too happy with me for some reason or other and so he went after me first. I guess he wasn't too happy with me being part of the reason that he lost control over Russia. The other being his assassin didn't want to kill me. I don't remember much of the actual fight with Vega beyond having him rip through one of my attacks before everything went black."
Cammy scrawls more. There's a fair bit to scrawl. "Hmm. Sagat? He's not the sort of man who takes being interviewed lightly, from what I have heard. Which is unfortunate.". She bites the tip of the pen for a moment while looking up at him with blue eyes - which seem a lot more attentive than the last time he looked into them, even if they are unrecognising.
"Do you know what happened to Vega? No clue from your associate? I think thats probably the biggest issue of all really, I mean there are a lot of governments out there who want to know if we got results, after all. That it was all worth it.".
"I couldn't tell you. I was in a coma for a couple weeks and haven't spoken to anyone about the aftermath besides you." He shrugs helplessly. "If anything, you probably know more about it than I do."
At this point, the bag that Quon was finishing packing is pretty much ready to go. He moves about the hospital room making his final checks to make sure he isn't leaving anything behind before going back to the bag. "I hate to break it to you. But you're currently speaking to the most useless witness you probably have. Vega disliked me enough that not only he wanted to take me out in the quickest and most agonizing manner possible, he wanted leave nightmarish visions with me that will probably stay with me for the rest of my life. I haven't had a good night's sleep since I came out of that coma. I wish I could help you but I can't."
Cammy tucks the biro back into the clipboard again, and gives Quon a sympathetic look, as she gets up from the chair. "I'm sorry to hear that. I hope something can be done for you - it's better to be an optimist about these things, I think. I have some similar problems to you perhaps." she admits. "I do have a tendency to wallow in my own misery at times but I do my best to avoid it - fortunately I've got a lot of work to do which keeps me occupied.".
She draws out a business card from her clipboard, and holds it out to Quon to take. "I can see that you're eager to get out of here. Perfectly understandable. But if you find anything out about Vega, then don't hesitate to call us, please. Perhaps next time there won't need to be a war over it. If there is a next time.".
The card being the address of some office in London.
Quon takes the business card for a moment and looks at it quietly before sliding it into a small pocket in his bag. A deep breath. "Thank you. Very much." He almost adds the name Cammy but he stops himself as the memory of the promise he made her comes to him once more.
The bag is thrown over one shoulder and then he leaves, closing the door behind him and leaving her in what was once his room. He quietly whispers to himself. "I would let you forget... I would want you to live without regret."
Cammy offers a smile as Quon seems to be quite cooperative as far as future contact with Delta Red goes. She looks over at the squaddie, after the door closes. "Well, he was eager to get out of here and no mistake. And not all that eager to answer questions either I guess. But thats understandable... the poor soul has been through a lot.".
The squaddie, for his part, heads doorwards, and pushes it open. "So thats the last one right, Cammy?" he asks, eager to get out of here. While following Cammy around is fun on one level - for she is rather scantily clad after all - it remains a true fact of life that a hospital is a boring place to be for most people, and one in Russia worse than most places.
"Mmm I think so. Lets get out of here, I need to make a report and get back to Rangoon.", Cammy agrees. Off to the next mission!
