Dudley - To Fight Like Gentlemen.

Description: Faolan and Dudley are asked to fight for charity. Whilst the Ikari warrior Faolan might not be known for his goodwill and sense of fair play in battle, Dudley certainly is a gentleman, and he intends to conduct the fight according to his own sensibilities. On this day, perhaps, Faolan learns what it means to fight... Like a Gentleman!

Quite a change of pace. After slogging through various parts of Asia and the Middle East the Ikari are slowly starting to be withdrawn from the various countries and returning to base. It is allowing several key people to finally get some rest now that it seems the world is alot safer and the war has come to and end. Alot of Ikari were lost and the ranks are having to be reorganized. New recruits will be found. It isn't going to get any less busy for the group as a whole for quite some time.

This is why Faolan is kinda glad he isn't at the base at the moment. Some charity organization in Sunshine City had asked the Ikari to send out someone to help raise money that would be sent to the war ravaged nations to help with the rebuilding. A rather nobel effort started by a man that simply wishes to let himself be called Johann. A rather well to do business man that operates out of Sunshine City itself it would seem. It wasn't too hard to select who to represent things. Leona had actually been in Sunshine City for her own reasons so just to be sure she had backup in case of danger Faolan was sent as well. He was more than willing to volunteer for the fight.

This is the kinda combat he truely appreciates anyways. Fighting in a war is what he is paid to do, but getting to enjoy the thrill of a good fight between other strong men and women is what he lives for. The Irishman is already standing in the arena while awaiting his opponent. He isn't even sure who he is fighting yet. He was just told to show up at this time. He patiently waits while idly bouncing his bata on a shoulder.

Dudley has also been asked to take part. As World Heavyweight Champion, these kind of charity engagements are a matter of course. Though Dudley himself hadn't taken part in the war effort directly (all out war is not the province of a Gentleman, though if Vega had shown his face in England, no doubt he would have given the blackguard what-for), he is more than happy for the opportunity to help repair some of the damage that has been caused.

Upon his arrival, Dudley is met with a roar of approval from the crowd. Stepping up into the arena, Dudley gives a respectful nod to Faolan, and then withdraws a rose from inside his pocket. Sniffing it daintily.

"Ladies and gentlemen. I am pleased to announce that I will match the contribution from the generous Mister Johann, no matter the outcome of this match." Which... is fairly magnanimous, but doesn't amount to much more, really, than waiving his fee for the fight.

Spinning, he tosses the rose into the crowd, and smiles to Faolan. "So let us fight..."

"*LIKE GENTLEMEN*"

The crowd starts to grow louder and a brow raises when Faolan sees Dudley step out. He isn't much of a watcher when it comes to boxing, but there are a few names everyone pretty much knows. Dudley would be one of them. Of course it helps when still in Ireland before joining the Ikari his exploits in the boxing world were often talked about. Well this could be a rather painful meeting indeed, but oh well. All for the greater good of charity.

He returns the nod with one of his own before reaching up to tip his hat to the boxer as well. "Well this is a surprise. Never expected it to be a big name like you." Of course the part about fighting like gentlemen.....well Dudley might soon find out that while Faolan can be a nice guy there are some tactics he uses that aren't very gentlemen like.

The Ikari shifts his stance as he grips the bata with both hands and holds it out in front of him. "I might not be a proper opponent for a boxer, but I will try to make this fun for the both of us." he says with a grin as he sizes up the other fighter. It looks like he is going to let Dudley make the first move as he tries to feel out the boxer and see how to properly defend against him.

Dudley is many things, but he is not one to belittle or underestimate an opponent. Faolan's style is not boxing, there's no way around that, but that doesn't necessarily make it any less fun to fight him. After all, the clash of different styles is one of the wonderful things about the fighting world.

"I'm sure we'll give them a good show. I trust you are ready?"

Since it certainly looks like Faolan is ready, Dudley steps forwards. There's not *many* surprises in the Gentleman Boxer's arsenal, and he certainly isn't intending to lead with any of them. Faolan wants to get a good idea of what he is capable of, and he will oblige.

Leading the way with a simple right punch, Dudley goes for the jaw. Just as much as Faolan is trying to size up Dudley, Dudley is trying to get a read on his opponent, too. How one responds to a punch to the jaw is often very telling as to how they will respond throughout the entire fight with Dudley.

Really one should expect punching to happen first when dealing with a boxer. Maybe it is the fact Dudley ends up being rather damn quick for a man his size that is what throws off the Irishman. He watches the movements of his opponent intently and looks ready to move and bring up his bata in the way of the strike, but his timing ends up too slow. That gloved hand slams across the jaw and staggers Faolan back several steps as he tries to regain his balance. Yeah, he needs to make sure to avoid taking another hit like that to the face. The Ikari can take some punishment, but even he has limits. It looks like he is going to have to test them against Dudley today.

He manages to plant both feet firmly once more and he takes a deep breath. He then steps forward to try and meet Dudley close up and avoid getting socked in the face again as he brings the tip of the bata to try and jab it into the abdomen of the boxer. Of course the impact with the bata isn't the only thing Dudley will have to worry about. There are tiny lines of blackish energy swirling through the stick itself. If Faolan manages to get a solid hit there is a release of that energy that gives rather shocking results. "I'm always ready." he finally says in response to the question and he grins. He is already sporting a nice bloody lip from that first strke as well.

COMBATSYS: Dudley blocks Faolan's Saying Hello.

Dudley's brows raise in surprise at the crackling power behind that initial strike. Though his guard is incredibly strong, and does not fail him in this, turning aside the worst of the blow, the black energy shocks through his gloves and makes the Gentleman Boxer furrow his brow. So that is how it is going to be, eh?!

"An interesting technique." He concedes, "Electricity is always an unpleasant surprise."

Which is true enough. Shifting from defense to offense, however, Faolan suddenly finds Dudley on top of him, both arms coming forwards in a flurry of strikes, his fists surrounded with swirling wind energy. In contrast to the shocking burst, this torrent of blasting wind isn't concentrated at all, but is diffuse and whipping.

"Machinegun Blow!"

Just in case the fans at the back can't see what is going on.

COMBATSYS: Faolan endures Dudley's Machinegun Blow.

There is a light tch as he isn't able to fully plant his bata where he wants to. Looks like the big guy can think fast on defense as well. "Yeah, I get told that alot." he admits and shrugs helplessly as he attempts to pull away. No way in hell he is quick enough to avoid what is unleashed on him, though. When those fists start flying there is very little choice on what to be able to do. That is why he just goes with what Ralf taught him his first few days upon joining the Ikari. Pretty much it means just charge in and take it like a man. That is exactly what happens as well. It might just be enough to throw Dudley off guard too for the fact the Ikari steps right into the punches and he lets himself get brutally hit several times.
Yeah, this guy is good. Faolan knows he doesn't have much of a chance here, but he has to do what he can to not make himself look like a total pushover. "Hnn, pretty....tough." he manages to say while trying to keep himself from slumping over. He pushes forward instead and he looks to jam the end of his bata right into Dudley again, though at an upwards angle this time to try and use all his strength to heft the boxer off the ground and over his head. There is a much larger gathering of energy in the bata this time around before it is released all at once in a powerful blast intent on sending Dudley flying if Faolan manages to connect.

Dudley is surprised by the sheer quantity of energy that Faolan is able to raise in so short a time. He hadn't expected the Ikari warrior to just take the full force of his Machinegun Blow head on... but then, apparently, he doesn't have much experience dealing with Ikari!

He attempts to stand firm against the blast, but the force of it sends him hurtling backwards, where his bulk forces the ring ropes to stretch to their very limit. Just as Mister Johnny Jones had found out, though, when Dudley is stretching against the ropes, that does not mean (as it does for many boxers) that he is even close to his limit.

Propelling himself forwards again, Dudley aims to use the full momentum of his charge to crash into Faolan, and almost... hug the Ikari close into his guard. Not exactly something many will see coming.

If successful, he'll find himself being tussled from either side simultaneously. Thankfully, Dudley's style prohibits an excessive amount of clinching, as it just isn't sportsmanlike to take advantage of a man when you've got him in your grip, but that may come as little comfort if Faolan is buffeted around for a few seconds before being deposited on the mat with a heavy thud.

Dudley           0/-------/=======|=======\-------\0           Faolan

It is a short big of a break that Faolan is rewarded with. He manages to heft up and blast away the boxer and allow himself some time to try and catch his breath. He expected the guy to hit him hard, but perhaps not this hard. It has really meant Faolan has to rethink his strategy. Don't get hit isn't really one that works for him so he is rather limited in ideas of how to handle this. That is when something comes to mind and he waits for Dudley to come right in at him again.

He looks ready to bring the bata across the face of the boxer, but the impact of Dudley slamming into him knocks the air out of him and his swing goes wild and doesn't hit a thing. "Leeggnnnnhhh!" he might have been asking to be let go and Dudley was happy to oblige by slamming him onto the ground where the floor of the arena spiderwebs a bit from the impact. It rattles the Ikari's body quite a bit and he lays there for a moment mostly because his body just won't listen to him.

He finally is able to get things to move how he wants and he starts to clamber back up onto his feet. "H...hah.....I see why you have had yer title for awhile." he says and manages a grin. Things aren't looking too good to him and Dudley is experienced enough to know that while he stands, there isn't much left in the tank of Faolan.

Dudley is not the kind of person who hits a man whilst he is down. Although he can tell that Faolan is waning, he really has no desire to capitalize on it. Instead, as Faolan starts to pick himself up from the floor, Dudley leans down, and offers a boxing glove to help lift the Ikari back up to his feet.

It may not be precisely the bloodbath that some proponents of the sport believe is the only good kind of fight, but Dudley has no interest in it (and nor does anyone who considers themself a fan of the Gentleman Boxer). "You have quite a punch with that stick of yours yourself, Sir." He says nodding seriously.

And then he steps backwards, giving Faolan the space and time he needs to recover his guard and get his head back into the fight. For this is what it means to fight... like a Gentleman!

COMBATSYS: Dudley takes no action.

While appreaciated the hand that is offered is waved off. "Boys would laugh at me if I went and accepted help like that." he says with a grin. Even if he is battered he doesn't look like he is going to admit defeat. If he can still swing his bata there is no reason to quit. Not like the word quit is exactly in the Ikari Warrior vocabulary. "And thanks. Gotta keep in shape for what I do." he replies to the compliment. This is exactly why he prefers a good fight like this compared to war. Winning is nice, but even in defeat there is rarely any major problems that arise. Sure he might get teased by his fellow Ikari, but that is part of the likestyle.

He does take a moment to catch his breath, but then he quickly dashes forward and gives a swing with his bata. He isn't sure he can really catch Dudley off guard, but he does his best to do something of a surprise attack as he looks to bring the stick about and slam it into the right side of the boxer. "Sorry about taking so long there to get up. Lemme try and make it up to you!" he says and gives a bit of a cheeky wink.

COMBATSYS: Dudley endures Faolan's Medium Strike.

Dudley raises an eyebrow at the explanation for why he cannot accept his help. "There's no shame in accepting assistance in a friendly fight." He says, and from the sound of it, he really believes it! Dudley's world, and the world of professional mercenaries like the Ikari, really could not be much more different.

He takes it in stride, though. When Faolan comes back, this time, Dudley stands totally firm as the stick cracks into his side. The boxer has simply taken the time to rear back one meaty fist.

He's telegraphing the punch pretty much right out, but the force with which he pivots, and brings himself totally into the blow, is astounding. It is a wild, powerful punch which has spelled the defeat of many professional boxers.

More importantly, it is an astoundingly powerful blow which, far from embarrassing Faolan if he is defeated by it... will hopefully earn him kudos just for *surviving* it.

(Even if, unlike that brute Michael Bison, Dudley is classy enough to judge the blow for knockout style only. Keep it classy, people!)

It isn't a pretty thing to look at. The chain of events that happen make several fans wince even if they are cheering. Faolan slams his bata firmly against the side of Dudley before looking to follow up with a shoulder driving into the boxer so Faolan could knock him off balance and follow up with a headbutt to the mush. Instead he finds a fist slamming into his face before he even gets to drive his shoulder into the other fighter. A powerful blow that almost makes Faolan drop his bata right then and there. Instead of pressing forward he is flying away and soon tumbling across the ground of the arena.

The hand still grips his bata tightly and the other one kinda drags across the ground as he tries to find energy to get himself back up to his feet or maybe at least sit up. It is just too much in the end. Much like the boxers that have fell to that punch it seems like the Irishman has been defeated as well. "Well shit..." is all he manages to murmur before he finds himself giving way to unconciousness. He'll just have to tell the man good fight later once he wakes up and remembers what happened.

Dudley raises his hand, after Faolan crashes to the mat... and the bell is rung. It may not have been a pretty fight, but the crowd certainly seem to approve, cheering and whooping at the outcome of the match. It had been pretty quick, but, they had gotten what they came for! The spectacle of the World Heavyweight Champion taking on an Ikari.

He isn't so crass as to lord it over his opponent, though. After the medical team have pulled him from the ring to make sure nothing is broken or seriously damaged, Dudley nods his head, and then climbs from the ring himself. Time to go and sign autographs... and a check to cover his portion of the charity contributions!
