Daniel - Cammy Cakes!

Description: Cammy White, on leave from her 'tour of duty' in the War in Asia, finds herself drawn to Gedo Street, the shadows of her past being only passing glimpses in the corner of her eyes. However, while she may not remember what she done in Southtown, who she did in Southtown remembers her, and not all sins of the past can easily be absolved.

The war is over, the bases dispersed, the soldiers sent back home to their peacetime deployments. Cammy isn't exactly a soldier though, and has more leeway than most. And besides, she's somewhat medically frail at the moment and her superiors are quite happy for her to take it easy.

So she has a bit of leave time, and has been advised to go try and find herself, out in Japan. Unfortunately as a tactic it doesn't really work very well. She walks through the Southtown streets, with this vague feeling that she may have been here before, but not quite able to say for sure. It doesn't make her happy, or relaxed, quite the contrary, it makes her frustrated.

She finds herself standing on one corner of a crossroad, looking over at Gedo High with a massive frown of annoyance, hands on hips. She doesn't actually know what she's looking at, which might explain why she's staring the place down like she wants to get beaten up by a horde of angry students.

Cammy may not have noticed, but she was being followed.

Daniel Jack, ace detective, Master of Todoh-Ryuu Kobojutsu, and Hero of Gedo Street, was just out about town enjoying a good sulk. But the second-rate detective of a second-rate martial art had better things to do than sulk around a second-rate alleyway. As such, the detective moved outward, heading to the gradually darkening downtown of Southtown. Dressed in a fine three-pieced suit, the detective swung a watch on a chain idly, looking over the beautiful faces of the city.

And then he passed a glance on Cammy.

Danial Jack knew the face of Cammy out necessity. Long ago, the detective had run afoul of Shadaloo... for the best of reasons. After saving one of Vega's Elite Dolls from bleeding to death in an alleyway, the commander graced his presence for better or for worse. Having earned the attention of one of the most dangerous men in the world, the detective made sure to keep tabs on the dangerous men of Shadaloo. Or at least, dangerous women. And after passing a glance, he saw one of them.

Cammy.

Shadowing the woman, the detective leaned against the wall of a nearby building, sulking in the long shadows stretching out as the sun begins to fall. The watch whirrs quietly, the detective staring out at Cammy with rose-colored glasses. The man was waiting, watching. Trying to get a read. What was she up to? Was she undercover like Marz? What business did she have? If she was planning on attacking the school...

Daniel swallowed. It might mean he has to defend it.

Cammy is happily oblivious, at least briefly, that there is some guy staring at her. Actually in truth she's starting to get used to this ridiculous getup Delta Red use for a uniform, and after the spar with Guile she's even starting to appreciate it a bit - hard to grab hold of that it is - so being stared at doesn't immediately set her off anymore.

In any case it doesn't look like she's planning on attacking anything just now. She reaches up to remove the red beret from her head, and scratch briefly at her hair, before returning the beret and looking around the crossroads, spinning slowly around and seeming rather lost.

Ugh, she thinks, she has been here before somehow. She knows it! But she doesn't recognise anyone, or anything. It's just a strange feeling, and it's damnably annoying. Her face twists in frustration, her eyes a little spaced out as she tries to concentrate.

So happens this unpleasant and Doll-ish expression is aimed at Daniel, by sheer chance - she just happened to stop turning when she was pointing more or less right at him!

5 feet.

Cammy suddenly realizes that she has been followed. As he eyes lock right on the detective, he becomes, well, a little startled. Daniel Jack launches straight up in the air, cringing like a frightened cat. His watch dangles loosely down as he grabs the wall, sliding back down. As Daniel lands back down, he gropes the watch chain, stamping off the wall, trying very hard to act like he wasn't scared out of his wits by a blonde woman looking at him.

Very, very hard.

The watch whirrs as Daniel Jack digs his other hand in his pocket, regaining his composure. His driving walk becomes a strut, as he approaches the woman. "Cammy... Didn't think a dame like you would be interested in further education. What brings you to Gedo High. Picking out a school for Marz?" Daniel sticks his tongue into his cheek, looking at the woman with a growing, intense light. The detective fear was turning into bravado, at the face of sheer, facing tearing danger. Standing tall, the man puffs out his chest.

He was going to die alone and between a pair of thighs.

Cammy blinks and jumps a little herself as she is drawn out of her introverted reverie by the sight of Daniel suddenly leaping up into the air. It so happens that she's so startled that she doesn't quite make out exactly what he's saying - well, not the beginning of of it anyway.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to stare." she tells him, assuming that perhaps thats why he seems to be scared out of his mind. "Gedo High? Marz?". She just looks a bit blank. "I think you have me confused with someone else." she tells him, with a wry smile. "I don't know any Marz.". She knows there's no Marz in Delta Red either, so it can't be that she's simply someone she's not caught up with yet.

What's this? He looks like a bit of a big tough guy now but she somehow seems to know somehow that he's actually terrified. How odd. "Oh, look. I really am terribly sorry..." she tries again, and offers him a red gauntleted hand to shake. "Is it a dangerous place around here or something? The war is over you know.". She had read about an attack on Japan in her briefings.

Confusion?

Daniel lives and breaths confusion. That is how he becomes the master of it, at least according to the teachings of Master Todoh. Daniel Jack knew that Cammy knew that Daniel knew who she was. But the question was why she was playing dumb. Why did she not know Marz.... unless MARZ as Daniel knew her didn't exist anymore? Stark horror comes over the detective's face briefly, his mind whirring with analysis and anger.

Was his worst rival now dead?

Daniel Jack keeps his distance from the girl, pacing around Cammy from a safe-ish distance, keeping up the front of bravery. "Dirty secret about Gedo Street? Safe as laying in your sweet lover's arms. Of all the places of Southtown, locals keep it tight. So if you want tob e a real trouble-maker, you'd get put on ice, you dig me?"

"Iced."

Daniel Jack catches the watch, looking at the time. "Well, if you don't know Marz and Gedo High, I'm gonna ask. What should I call you while you are on 'business,' sweetheart." Daniel scrunches up his nose. And then it hits him.

He is not keeping his eyes on Cammy.

Cammy just has no idea what he's on about. At all. He may as well be talking a different language. She assumes a bemused frown, and as he's behaving about as suspiciously as anybody can, she lifts her arms a little, defensively, just in case. Especially as he didn't even bother to shake her hand. "Umm, I'm afraid I don't quite understand your rather peculiar dialect..." she tells him, truthfully enough. "Are you in some sort of local gang or something?" she wonders, curious as to why he's apparently intent on trying to kick her ass, judging by how he's circling her all suspiciously.

"I'm Cammy White. Pleased to meet you?" she offers hopefully. "I'm just here on vacation as it happens, but if this part of town is infested with gang thugs, I'm quite happy to go somewhere a little quiet...". She wants to relax, not get into Final Fight 4.

"Cammy -White?-"

Daniel raises an eyebrow. Nothing made sense. "Look, sunshine. Please don't play dumb with me. Don't you know who you are? I mean, hell, I'm surprised the locals haven't jumped you already." Daniel steps towards the school, still keeping his distance from the master assassin of Shadaloo... as he knew her. The detective looks over at the school, narrowing his eyes as he closes the watch and pockets it.

"... This isn't what Shadaloo would do to me. I don't need to be tricked. You got time? Let me take you dinner. I got a few questions for you... but I might have a few answers for you. It'll be quiet, and more importantly, safe." Daniel Jack adjusts his glasses, his heightened bravado calming down to simple alertness.

"I'm not playing dumb, but apparently you're not listening to me. The war is over. We won!". She frowns at him, and adds, "And what's so wrong about my surname?", while shaking her head slowly, braids rustling against her back. "There's no need for paranoia... oh. Dinner?".

Cammy's frown just deepens in confusion. So he goes from jumping out of his skin, to circling her, to making a pass at her? How odd. "Uh, no, I don't really think that's the best idea to be honest - no offence.". Maybe Ibuki would be interested, she thinks, with some vague amusement, but she really REALLY has to go and talk to the colonel about this uniform of hers.

"Safe? Is it unsafe here? Why do you say that?" she asks, her interested piqued about something he said at least.

Maybe there are some Shadaloo holdouts here. She has heard that Japan has quite a seedy underground, and presumably Colonel Wolfman would be interested in knowing about any she encounters - even if it would strictly speaking be against orders to involve herself in that sort of thing.

Daniel Jack's pacing used to be steady. But then, Ryuhaku Todoh got his fingers into the poor kid's psyche. Now the detective had gains secondary powers as part of his martial artist skills: Constant disconnects from reality, the ability to appear out of nowhere, and his most sinister and powerful ability... fade into the background, being just a cameo in the crowd. But Daniel Jack was VERY convinced that this was Cammy, and was surprised that Cammy was not as easy as his 15 year old 'sister.' And then he realizes that no, that was not supposed to come out like that. 15 year old friend! That.... Lets change the subject.

The detective tilts his head, looking absolutely dumbstruck. "Are you SURE you are Cammy. Did.... did something happen? You... did you lose your memory or something? Or what? I mean, hell, it is safe for me, but I dunno. You have... well...

Daniel Jack suddenly turns away. He got a strange vibe. A wind of some sort. That if he shot off his mouth in the wrong way, he would ruin a very, very good thing. "... Nevermind. I won't tell you. You seem happier being dumb and blond, toots. I better... how long you are in the city?"

Dumb and blonde. Toots??? She puts her hands on her hips, her considerable patience exhausted. And she was in such a good mood after meeting with Captain Guile, her brief stay on the base in Russia... then as soon as she leaves the military surroundings this happens. Meeting someone who is seemingly some sort of addled hobo.

"There is no need to get insulting." she tells him, voice more stern. "I see that friendliness in this town just gets thrown back in your face. And I had something of a headache before you even showed up.". She didn't really have one at all, but now she does, and she reaches up to massage her temples for a moment with her fingertips, while staring at him with a now more sullen, bleary eyed expression. "I only just got here this morning, as you ask.". Right now she would be walking away from him probably, except for one thing he has said. "As it happens I did get hit on the head a little too hard, you must know me somehow?". She looks at him with an expression of severe doubt. What would an addled hobo and a Delta Red agent have in common? Now it's her turn to be slightly paranoid. Shadaloo's agents are often known to be unstable after all, and he's certainly unstable...

Daniel Jack pauses, as Cammy's tone becomes more stern. Holding himself erect, he draws a hand into his jacket, resting his hand on the handle of his gun. But the attack doesn't come. Listening to the woman, his hands begins to shift over to another pocket. Looking over his shoulder, he shakes his head. "Lady, I don't know who you are, or what happened to you, but let me make this clear. You may not remember this town, but this town remembers you. And Cammy, I am going to tell you: You aren't a saint to Southtown. And not everyone is as savvy as me."

With a smooth motion, the detective flicks a card out from his pocket, and tosses it through the air towards Cammy. "Take my card. If you run into trouble, give me a ring. There are mysteries all around us, toots, and most of them are within. I'll leave you with a thought, sweetheart:

"Why does everyone know more about me than I do?"

The detective turns around, and begins to walk off, his ear tilted slightly towards Cammy as he walks off. It is very strange, but as he gets further and further away.... the detective seems to start to fade out of sight. Not turning invisible, per say, but Cammy would have some difficulty noticing him if she wasn't focused on him. As if he was fading off into the scenery, or the crowd. Daniel Jack's mind was chewing on this mystery though.

Why can't Cammy remember?

Cammy mehs at his back. Not exactly the most welcoming time she's had. Up till now everybody has been so nice as well, with the exception of the pink clad maniac. He's probably the same sort of ilk, she decides, and resists putting a black mark against Southtown. After all, Ibuki apparently lives fairly near here, so she must have /some/ friends in this place.

She blinks. Oh, he's gone. Great, ki powered addled hobos. She heard that Southtown was an interesting place, but this is a bit much for her. Glancing over at Gedo, she wrinkles her nose, and decides to turn on her heel to head straight back the way she came from, towards the airport.

She does pause though, seeing his card lying on the ground by his boot. She stares at it for a moment, and against her better judgment, hesitantly crouches down and picks it up, looking at it before continuing on her way. If nothing else maybe she can ID that guy and find out what his game is.

From a distance, Daniel Jack peers from an alleyway as Cammy picks up his card. He fistpumps, letting out a muffled cheer.

That was the first time he managed to hand out his card in a year.

He might be able to move up to -two- ply toiletpaper now!
