Faolan - Ikari and School Girl: BAD END

Description: Or good end depending on what perspective you look at. Two bored weapon users that cannot appreciate bad theater end up sparring. Takako gets her first taste of taking on an Ikari. Will she come away with any lessons learned or does she still want to headbutt EVERYTHING?

Takako has obtained scholarships from all quarters to continue her fighting training and advance Kendo. Unfortunately, part of the agreement with obtaining that money is that sometimes, you go and do things that you don't really want to do, just because it is part of the deal. For instance, the girl has no real interest at all in Capoeira. But as part of the 'Young Traditional Fighters of Tomorrow' scholarship, she's had to come to Brazil and train with a local Capoeira expert.

A total waste of time.

Even worse, one of the backers has dragged her to this theatre after the training is complete. She could not be more bored. The play is 'The Saint and The Sow', a piece which she has tried to pay attention to, and just can't. So. Very. Boring.

The young woman looks around her with evident frustration. "I'm going to go and get a drink." She informs the man who has so kindly taken her out for this enriching cultural experience, and with that, she starts to noisily force her way through the crowd, much to their consternation. There has to be something more interesting to waste her time with. She could be training!

Boring doesn't even begin to describe what is happening right now. People like Faolan can appreciate culture and such, but at least make it entertaining. Is that so hard? It seems like it is because Takako isn't the only one being bored with the show being put on. The worst part is Faolan isn't even having to watch it. Looks like the owner of the venue spares no expense when it comes to security. The Ikari aren't too far away so it is always easy to pay some money and get a few out to look menacing and make people think twice about causing trouble.

In this case Faolan pulled the short straw and got stuck coming out with about three other grunts to play security. "Mnn, didn't join the group for bitch detail...." he mumbles to himself when no one is in sight. He is leaned back against a wall while idly twirling his bata around in one hand. He rather be doing training at this point. At least that involves more than just standing around and doing nothing. He closes his eyes and lets out a soft sigh. It could be worse he supposes. At least some crazy chick isn't jumping him and trying to steal his bata again. That has been a nice break.

Takako spends a lot of time watching the various fight networks; SNF, NDP, Neo League, it doesn't really matter to her. When she needs to rest (because no matter how much she might like otherwise, she can't keep fighting continuously), she absorbs information about fighting like a sponge. She doesn't have the brains for total recall, but she can recognize a face when she sees one. In this case, it is Faolan.

The short Japanese girl looks pretty out of place in the largely Brazilian audience, and she doesn't hesitate at all to march right up to the Ikari warrior. She might not be entirely up on who the Ikari are, or even who Faolan really *is*, but she's pretty sure she's seen him before. Which means he is now upgraded to 'most entertaining thing in the room'.

"Hoi." She says, giving a little wave when she's standing in front of the mercenary. "Don't I know you from somewhere? My name's Takako. Takako Fujiwa. You look almost as bored as I am."

Naturally, as Takako is Takako, the young woman has her bokken slung at her side. As though she would ever go anywhere without it.

He has become a bit of a staple on Saturday Night Fight so it isn't too hard to realize who the Irishman is. He may also be known as a guy that while shows no real regard for his safety in a fight that also means the guy doesn't win much. He certainly does share the less tactical qualities that some of the Ikari do and instead just seems more intent to bulldoze through people when he can. Even so he isn't too used to people actually coming up to him and saying they know him.

When he hears the girl speak up he cracks open and eye and realizes she is introducing herself to him. "Mnn? Oh, hey." he says while straightening up and giving a bit of a yawn. "Guess I was dozing off there." He finds himself looking down quite a bit too and he raises a brow at the bokken wielding girl. She seems a bit out of place among the other people he has seen here. "Uh, Faolan Sheehan. I am just security today." he comments and he thumbs over to a staircase leading upwards to where the most snooty of people probably go to watch. "Not like I can see anyone wanting to bother causing trouble at a place like here."

Takako purses her lips. Now that she's looking at him, she can recall a little more of where she's seen him. Yup. This guy is a fighter, and that means she wants to test herself against him. Who knows if she'll get another opportunity?

Now, Takako isn't the sort to go around making trouble just for the sake of it, but the look on the girl's face is pretty easy to read. Anticipation!

She smiles, and nods her head. "Sure, sure." She says, waving her hand vaguely. "I'm bored out of my mind, don't know about you." The young woman works her shoulder backwards a bit, straightening up to her full height... even if Faolan still has over a foot on her. She wants to at least try and meet his eye without craning her neck.

"You want to sneak off and have a bit of fun?" She asks, apparently *entirely unaware* of any possible innuendo which might be construed in her words. "I wanna burn off a bit of steam. Nobody's going to notice if you ditch for ten, twenty minutes, right?"

It is probably a good thing that no one else is around to hear what was just said. Mostly because Faolan would be getting several questionable looks right about now if there was. He actually looks a bit on the confused side as he tries to debate on what she means by all of that. "I uh......you might want to elaborate." he finally says. He isn't agreeing to anything when it is laid out in front of him like it was. Well.....maybe if she was older, but certainly not when a teen says such things

He is starting to wonder if he just attracts the weird ladies no matter what age. All the way back from when he first met Reese and the subsequent decent into craziness that woman has went into. Heck, even the creepy raven girl that came all the way to South America to fight him just because of a whole SNF match both were involved in. Paranoid? Oh yes, just a bit. Even if she is some random teen it doesn't mean she might be getting paid by Reese for Faolan to perhaps let his guard down so she can attack and try to steal his bata again.

Takako looks a little confused. What does this guy THINK she means? And then she actually rolls her eyes. Her hand slaps to her face, and she shakes her head. "Geez... you foreigners really are all perverts." She mutters, and then her hand drifts down to her bokken.

"I want to fight you!" She says, blunt as a brick to the face. "I'm bored, this play sucks, and the old man I'm with would break in half if I looked at him funny. So why not kill some time doing something actually useful?"

She shrugs her shoulders in an easy, lazy motion, then. Grinning a cheeky grin which would no doubt look downright criminal on someone older. "I mean, I can try and cause trouble for the old folk upstairs if you don't want to risk getting in trouble, but I'm bored and I know you can put up a good fight... so I want to see if I can beat you! And I bet you'd rather have a bit of a spar rather than watch the old geezers try not to fall asleep. Am I right?"

There is a bit of relief when it finds out the girl just wants to get into a fight. Odd how he doesn't mind beating up someone of her age. That is socially acceptable to him! "If you knew some of the people I knew it is more being paranoid than perverted." he replies and gives a shake of his head. It is kinda embarassing of an exchange, but he rather just be safe than sorry. He has to admit he likes the way the girl thinks too. Things are so damn boring and well, the idiots are all engrossed in the play so they won't notice if he slips off for a bit.

After a few moments of debating he straightens up and gives a nod. "All right. Just for a bit." he comments and he starts towards a nearby door that leads outside to a side area employees usually go for a smoke break. "But if ya get some bruises and they ask what happened you fell down some stairs or something." He totally isn't taking any sort of blame if he can help it. Girls mysteriously get beat up all the time, right?

Takako laughs, and cheerfully draws her sword. Now that there's the prospect of a fight, she's nowhere near as embittered. In fact, the disillusioning stress that had settled over her is starting to melt away. Fantastic! "Nobody is going to ask where *I* got bruises." She says, and indeed this is true! Anyone who hangs out with her on a regular basis knows that she's the sort to accumulate bruises like other (more successful) fighters accumulate badges and trophies.

"But when I kick your butt, you have to tell your people that Takako Fujiwa showed you how its done, okay?"

Indeed, Takako is in a far better mood than she's been in ages. Slipping into the employee corridor, she wastes no time in setting up her fighting stance. Her sandalled feet dig in as much as she can against the polished floor, and her sword is raised up high. Both hands on the bokken, eyes focused on Faolan.

"You want to kick things off, or shall I? I'm not holding back!"

Well she certainly seems the fiesty one. Color the Irishman curious about the girl and just how good she may be. Is she one of those crazy prodigy gals that just destroy everything in their path? He has run into a few of those. The last thing he is going to do is tell the other Ikari if he does get beat up by the girl. He often gets enough flak as it is when losing on the national stages such as SNF and the like. Last thing he needs to be doing is telling people some lil girl beat his ass.

He cricks his neck while letting out a light tch. "I guess you can start." he tells her as he grips his bata with both hands. He holds it out in front of him at about elbow's length away from his chest as he takes a deep breath. Well if anything at least he should be mildly entertained for the time being. Even if he is beating up some random teen it sure beats taking a nap inside while waiting for the show to finish. "Come at me."

Takako is fiesty. She's also determined, impulsive, and almost painfully focused. These are qualities which are common to the girls of the fighting world, but Takako has distilled the urge to better herself to an almost physical quality. It is infectious on the air about her; a crackling, staticky buzz of anticipation at the fight to come.

When Faolan tells her to start, she lunges into motion. The wooden sword is brought forwards in a swift, driving motion which seems to seek to impale the Ikari warrior dead centre.

"HAI!"

And at the last moment, Takako is swinging upwards. The point of the weapon - which suddenly tends to seem a lot more menacing when she's trying to drive it into someone's body - flourishes up and in, aiming more at the top centre than it first appeared. "KYAAAH!"

Well, she definitely *shouts* like a seasoned warrior.

Given the size difference at least Faolan has an advantage on reach. He is assuming the girl might have him on speed, but he is used to dealing with people faster than him. He is more one to keep his ground and try to deflect attacks instead of get fancy and avoid them. Case in point he soon finds a incoming strike aimed his way and when there is that sudden upwards swing the Ikari does well to shift his weight and use a forearm to knock it off target at the prize of a nice welt on his arm from the impact.

There is a bit of a sly smirk that comes across his features and with his opponent in close he feels a bit more comfortable. It is the fighters that like to keep themselves at a distance that usually give him problems. His hands shift to move more towards the center of his bata as he he does a quick strike with one end before sort of making a windmilling motion to deliver a second. Not powerful per se, but something that looks to break through any defenses the girl might have and push her off balance. "Hup!"

Takako probably surprises Faolan because she doesn't even try to get out of the way of the incoming strike. He can assume she's into speed all he wants; the fact is, she's just not very interested in defending herself. The warrior who submits to the fear of death is the warrior who grants death power over them! The first strike catches her in the shoulder, and the second too, but she is rooted to the spot.

In fact, she steps into the second strike, and doesn't even seem to care that she's going to have a lovely new bruise to thank her for this decision. "Kyah!" The girl shouts, and her head comes smashing forwards with it, in a hopping upwards motion. The aim is to connect with Faolan's chin.

If that works, she'll spin on the spot, and bring her 'sword' along with her in a bisecting slash. The sort of thing that would be really dangerous if it had, you know, anything approaching an edge!

COMBATSYS: Takako successfully hits Faolan with Random Strike.

Takako           0/-------/----===|====---\-------\0           Faolan

There might be a moment where the second strike perhaps isn't delivered as hard as the first. Mostly because he was assuming her to try to use her sword to deflect the attacks. Even so he does connect and the girl isn't seem to thrown too off balance as he hoped. It just makes him come forward and much like Takako this time he seems more intent on just barreling right forward and take the blow to the chin while attacking as well. It turns out he isn't the only one with a hard head and it stings a bit more than expected. Another surprise that does throw him a bit off balance and causes him to be open to the second strike. "Tch, yer not too bad."

He isn't going to give too much credit just yet. There is still alot of fight left in him and he figures the same goes for the girl. He plants his feet firmly and he leans forward, his bata being released by one hand as the other raises it up and then brings it around to slam into the right shoulder of Takako. If she is going to keep it close he is more than fine with that. It keeps him from having to move as much and waste energy running about to chase the girl down.

Takako           0/-------/--=====|====---\-------\0           Faolan

Takako actually does deign to try and raise a defense this time. She brings her bokken up to try and meet Faolan's shoulder, but the grip is awkward. Well, she isn't used to people trying to match her blow for blow up close; most Kendo students, used to a more elegant style, tend to panic a little bit when faced with her. Faolan is resolutely refusing to panic, and in some sense, that is actually a little annoying to her!

She's hardly ready to call it a day there, though. The shoulder slams into her, and she is actually sent bouncing off the tight confines of the corridor with a dull *thud*.

"Oof!"

Bringing her sword up again, the girl exhales slowly, and centers herself. Her eyes meet Faolan's, and though she isn't smiling any more, her enthusiasm is completely undiminished.

"I've been training since I was five years old!" She declares, something which anyone who knows anything about Kendo would know is completely against all sane regulations. But fighting isn't really for the sane these days, is it?

"Damn right I'm 'not bad'. I'm still not as good as I should be! Now come at me!"

It isn't a challenge, or a request. It is a *demand*. Hurt me more, Faolan! I CAN TAKE IT!

COMBATSYS: Takako focuses on her next action.

Takako           0/-------/--=====|====---\-------\0           Faolan

She perhaps needs some more training, but he can see some potential and she does look young so she has plenty of time to perfect her style. Hell Faolan considers himself good at what he does and he knows he still has plenty of work on his own style. He shoulda paid attention to his father more when he was growing up. He doesn't fully press forward his attack and instead keeps his ground. He certainly doesn't seem to be in a panic at all. Why should he be? This guy dodges bullets and punches tanks for a living.

He resumes his fighting stance as he grips the bata with his second hand again. "Not my style, kid. Besides it isn't so good of a training session if I take you down so quick." he comments. Perhaps some fuel to the fire to throw her off her game by teasing? Or perhaps something that he might regret saying because it takes the girl to another level. All he knows is he is preparing for whatever she might throw his way next. His gaze remains focused and there are actual little black strands of energy cracking around the bata now. Perhaps it is more he is preparing for something.

COMBATSYS: Faolan gathers his will.

Takako narrows her eyes. 'Take her down quick', huh? She'll give him 'take her down quick!'

The girl takes a firmer grip on her sword, and for a moment, her whole body tenses up. When she comes at Faolan, it is in a sudden burst of intense motion. Her sword cleaves a dark path through the air as she throws herself into the attack. "KYAAAAAH!"

The practice blade comes down hard and fast, aiming to smash into Faolan's left shoulder, but regardless of the result, Takako isn't slowing down. She presses the attack with a second overhead strike, this time aiming for the top of Faolan's head - she definitely needs the extra reach her sword gives her - and then a third, just as quick, just as determined, aiming to crash into Faolan's left shoulder.

"Don't underestimate me!"

... Yeah, she might have some minor issues regarding her own abilities. But then, Takako has never pretended to be the most self-controlled of people. She's letting that anger flow through her, and guide her strikes.

The whole anger thing works for some people. Look at the likes of Iori who is probably much more dangerous when in a fit of rage than when he uh....well is that one ever calm? Others it sometimes makes them make mistakes. Faolan knows all too well because he was much the same way for awhile. The Ikari training has actually helped curb the anger issues and allow him to stay more focused on things overall. In this case it might pay off for him because his patience and observation seem to help him greatly when Takako comes in at him.

He shifts and releases the bata with one hand to use it more of a sword itself as he is quick to deflect the first strike with it. Both hands grip the ends again as he raises it high to stop the second strike and a quick release from one hand allows him to deflect the third. "I ain't. If I was I wouldn't be doing this." he comments in response of possibly underestimating her. He ducks low and aims to drive his shoulder into Takako and throw her off balance, it is followed up by a quick headbutt to the face as well. Looks like he doesn't mind giving an eye for an eye. Or in this case a headbutt for a headbutt due to her offense from earlier.

Takako           0/-------/=======|=======\===----\1           Faolan

Takako is more frustrated than anything else. Her inability to simply smash her way through Faolan's guard makes her angrier and angrier. Though some part of her accepts that Faolan is being fairly gracious; treating her like an equal, even, she's more enraged at *herself* than at him at this point. She should be doing better than this! WHY isn't she doing better than this?!

Which is why when Faolan brings his head forward, Takako just *BELLOWS* in return.

"ORAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

And *SMASHES* her face right into his.

Oh, it definitely hurts her, too. The intense motion crunches her nose, and when she draws her head back, she's got a lovely nosebleed going on. She's also grinning like a lunatic. Not because she's actually crazy, but because that WORKED!

"Hah! My head is tougher than yours!" She crows, even if the jury is still... probably out on that.

Perhaps equally as tough. The meeting of the minds happens and it is almost as if a wave of force erupts from the impact and rattles things a bit. It is hard to tell if that truely happened due to lack of any witnesses and the fighters themselves are too caught up in their clash to probably notice what just happened. He also might debate on if Takako is crazy are not. Aren't all women crazy? At least this one is a fun kind of crazy. Or at least that is what he is telling himself. "If ya say so." he comments and he reaches up to rub a bit at his own nose before regripping the bata.

He isn't going to spend time trying to figure that out. Instead that bata is used in close quarters as he shifts to have his hands grip one side and he aims to slam the other end into the stomach of the other fighter. That blackish energy that has been snaking about it seems to be gathered at that end too looking to deliver a nice electric shock upon impact as well.

Takako doesn't even try to get out of the way of the attack. She is, therefore, hit pretty much dead on by it. The trouble is that she's really been going at it full throttle for a while now, and she can feel the unfortunate burn starting in her guts. Not just because she's just had a strong discharge of chi there, but because she's, well, flagging. It disgusts her, really. Her father didn't train her to give up halfway through a fight, but if she doesn't try and measure herself now, she's going to be too exhausted to lift her sword!

With a sudden lunge, she brings her sword forward, and aims to drive it downwards, into Faolan's leg. It isn't a particularly hard blow, as these things go, but it does keep her nice and close, so she can ask (because she really wants to know).

"What sort of chi *is* that. Never seen black electricity before. Pretty fancy."

If anything at least the Ikari is staying true to his word. He isn't pulling punches and on the plus side he hasn't decided to tease the girl further after that one quip. He is doing his best to stay serious and put up a good fight. Of course there is such a thing as getting too carried away. "Dunno, s'just what happened." he says in response. It was never odd to him, but the fact a few people said it seemed rather strange and unique was what caused him to perhaps figure out how to manipulate his own energy better. He is starting to get on the right track, but also at the same time he rather stay true to the traditional part of his style and not use the energy as much if he can help it.

When she comes in to swing at the leg she hits it, but the Irishman doesn't budge too much from the impact. Most of his movements in fact are more focused on swinging the bata rather hard to slam into Takako and throw her off balance. Something that is followed by by a flurry of those windmilling blows like he used earlier to drive her back. He then dips in low to sweep her legs out from under her before quickly raising and bringing down that bata across her to help quicken her meeting with the ground. Nope, he can't be accussed of pulling punches at all after that he would think. He just hopes he didn't overdo it.

Takako is pretty badly hurt by the flurry of blows. She can't even begin to defend herself; the attack just ploughs into her and keeps on going. She is battered and bruised, and when she hits the ground, she is forced to stay there for a moment. It might be true that a warrior who fears death gives death power over them, but that doesn't mean she particularly enjoys being beaten down into the dirt.

To her credit, she does not stay down for very long. Instead, she forces herself back up to a standing position. She's breathing pretty hard, and although it goes against everything she's been taught to believe in, she does not immediately press the attack. She's actually a bit dizzy. She needs her bearings.

She cracks her neck, and raises her sword. "I'm not very good with my chi." She confides, "But I'll show you what I can do." A small gust of wind blows through the corridor, tussling her hair lightly. Wait a second, wind? Indoors?

COMBATSYS: Takako gains composure.

Thoughts of perhaps overdoing it are lessened when Takako manages to actually get back up to her feet. He is about to offer to stop when he feels the breeze. A brow quirks and he looks about then realizes it isn't so much the weather and instead the girl. "Hnnn, all right." he says and the slightly relaxed posture is replaced with him preparing himself for whatever the young woman may have planned. He goes through his options debating if he should strike now or what and see what she throws at him.

In the end he goes with what makes the most sense. OR NOT! It depends on how one would look at it. He ends up dashing forward and he releases the bata with one hand once more. He comes forward in a thrusting motion and aims to drive it right into the chest of Takako full force to perhaps stop whatever she is planning. "Haaaah!"

Takako steps to the side of Faolan's forwards-lunge. "... Clumsy." She mutters, though it isn't *meant* to be mean-spirited. The fact is that she rarely even tries to get out of the way, but now she just isn't there when Faolan passes her by. The girl's sword is brought around in a sweeping motion, and she closes her eyes for a moment.

The corridor is suddenly full of a slashing gale. The eruption of energy seems almost uncontrolled as it bursts out of Takako, and she brings her sword up to her face. The winds move subtly with it.

In the next motion, she's coming forwards at Faolan. The wind comes with her, and there is a blindingly fast series of slashes. Each blow matched by a tearing slash of wind power, eight strikes in total, with everything that she has behind them. Each one with a cry of "KYAAAAAAAAAH!"

Regardless of whether or not the attack hits as desired, the girl is left momentarily exhausted. Sinking to one knee and breathing very hard indeed.

There was perhaps too much power and just not enough finesse when it comes to the lunging strike. It is something that leaves Faolan a bit open to a counter attack and he has to think quick to defend himself. Things are kind of a blur the entire time too where the wind is kicking up and Takako comes at him. Two solid hits land before the Ikari seems to recover and get his timing right. He still can't cleaning deflect the rest, but his positioning and use of the bata help reduce the punishment his body is taking greatly. The fact he manages to do what he does show that the guy has some quick thinking to go along with the muscle as well.

The Irishman takes a few deep breaths himself. Perhaps not as exhausted as the young woman, but he is finding himself being taken to the limit more than he had initially expected. "That was pretty crazy." he says with a soft chuckle. There is a crackle of energy traveling down his bata once again and he turns about to face Takako fully again. The bata is raised and a thrusting motion is made again. This time he isn't even close to where he can hit her, but it really doesn't matter. It isn't so much the thrust that has to be taken into consideration. It is more the small ball of energy that comes off of it and sails towards the young fighter.

Takako is actually pretty annoyed at herself. The attack might have been flashy, but it still wasn't good enough to break through Faolan's defense. When he throws the ball of energy at her, the girl's irritation comes to the floor, and she growls. "DAMNIT!"

Her weapon comes up, and a focused slash of wind erupts from the edge of the blade. It isn't enough, and the ball hits her dead on.

She drops her sword, and falls over at last, on her back. "Uuugh." She groans.

"That was, *not* my best."

If that wasn't her best then color Faolan impressed. He certainly had more of a handful than he expected when he first began to fight. "Ehn, you did fine." the Ikari says while relaxing a bit and he walks over to at least offer a hand to help pull the girl back up to her feet. "Probably better than any of the yahoos that would actually try to cause trouble here. I never understood why they just don't hire regular security here. The Ikari are a bit overkill." he admits and gives a bit of a grin.

If the hand is accepted or not he steps back once Takako is on her feet. "Of course now we gotta just pretend nothing happened and hope we don't get any weird questions thrown our way." he tells her as he turns and starts to return to his post. The show is still going on so all he can hope isn't some random passer by didn't notice him gone. If anything he seems like he is in a much better mood and far less bored than he was when he first got bumped into.

Takako does take Faolan's hand, and drags herself up to her feet. She is in a better mood than she was, for sure. Letting off a bit of steam always helps. She might even be able to make it through the rest of the gods-awful play now, even.

"I've got a long way to go." She says, bluntly. Always her own harshest critic. "You had some good moves. Especially defense. I don't really, do, defense."

Which she isn't sure is something she should even consider a weakness. Sliding her bokken back into place, she stretches a bit. "Have a good shift. If we get attacked by Shadaloo or something, I'll back you up." She laughs. It is meant to be a joke; despite all evidene to the contrary, Takako still believes Shadaloo is basically the boogey men. Certainly not something that really exists! That'd be crazy. Like a madman with a floating headquarters filled with bronzed fighters!

There is a bit of a grin. "My style is more defense based. I guess I am not the typical merc." Even if there has been several fights where he has come off as someone who doesn't care about tossing themselves into an attack just to get a hit in. "It isn't bad to have some, kid. Even if it is something you do to throw yer opponent off their game." He leans back against the wall where he was originally and folds lazily rests against the bata with one hand and lets the staff handle most of his weight. "Now go on before anyone notices yer missing."

He just chuckles to himself once she leaves. Interesting kid. Makes him wonder what she is doing all the way out here in Brazil. If anything it shall be interesting if their paths cross again and if she ends up approaching things the same way or ends up perhaps learning to switch up things just a bit. If anything at least today for once he doesn't have to worry about the other Ikari finding out about him getting assbeat and give them more fuel for jokes.
