Juri - Why You DON'T Talk To Strangers

Description: Juri is as strange as they come. Not the mention she has that whole psychic dark cloud thing going on. Meanwhile poor Momoko is out in the world, enjoying life and being innocent. How would she have known what she was getting herself into? ... or that trying to attack the freaky psychic dark cloud woman was a bad idea?

It's a beautiful Spring day in Southtown. The warmth of the sun, sitting high in the sky as it is, would perhaps be overbearing were it not for a cool Northern wind blowing from the regions of the country still grasped in the talon of Winter. The trees are beginning to awaken from their annual slumber, as are animals of various description. All in all it seems like another normal, peaceful day.

At least, for the more ... mundane amongst us.

On the outskirts of the city, above the verdant boughs of the thick forest barrier hangs a dark cloud to those sensitive enough to feel it. A psychic disturbance that is somehow carried on the winds and into the minds of others. Most would consider this enough reason to stay well, well away from the forest and the clearing in the center of it. However for those brave, curious, and perhaps a bit foolish... it's a large blinking sign reading 'Adventure!'

And what is in the center of that clearing, when one should arrive? From whence does this strange psychic phenomena originate? Why it's a solitary woman. A young Korean woman dressed in her civilian clothes. She is standing near a tree at the edge of the clearing, her head slightly tilted to the left. As one approach they'll quickly recognize what she is watching with such keen interest: It's a spider sitting in the middle of its web. The strange woman seems totally caught up in it for the moment.

Just a normal, albeit odd, woman who produces psychic dark clouds. Surely nothing could go wrong by walking up and saying hi?

==

There may be a dark cloud hanging over Southtown, but while Juri's there giving that dark atmosphere off, in another part, not too far from where Juri is, is a lighter atmosphere. On the grass is a young girl, no more than 12 yet acts like a child, stretching out in a cute manner as she loosens up for practice of Capoeira in the grass. There's no one around to watch it seems, but some people in the distance might be taking note of Momoko.

For now, Momoko simply continues to warm up, for now doing a split while in a handstand and maintaining a fine balance. All the while, she grins happily and sings some sort of song, perhaps a Capoeira song or maybe something from traditional Japanese.

==

Not that the Taekwondoka would notice, enraptured in her Araneae-enduced reverie. A quiescent phase between her normal activities of incredible violence and trying ever-so-hard to infuriate those who would try to control her...

Did I mention she was too busy watching the spider to notice Momoko and her antics? Well it wasn't quite true, and now Juri is gone from the tree as is the spider from its web. Indeed, the web and a depression in the grass near the tree are the only signs that either had been there at all. How long had Juri been standing, stock still, in that clearing? It's hard to say.

As she approaches Momoko, that light amidst the darkness, Juri carries with her a guest. It's the spider from the web earlier, now running across her fingers. She moves her hands in such a way to provide it passage to continue while she, herself, walks along. When she does finally arrive at Momoko's location, the spider is standing upon Juri's outstretched index finger. The woman's violet colored eyes slide from the tiny creature and toward the strange girl doing hand stands in the sunlight. The woman's face turns from a bemused smile to a smirk.

"Well well well... what have we here?" She begins, in that sardonic purr of hers, "What is this, a field trip? Get separated from your class mates little girl?"

==

As soon as Juri speaks, Momoko stops while she's still in her handstand-split (or a flik-flak as some call it,) and looks up at the woman talking to her. "Field trip? No, school isn't in session today! Momoko's here to practice her Capoeira skills!" Without missing a beat, Momoko brings her legs together and somersaults into a standing position. "Are you here to watch Momoko's demonstrations? Or are you here to..." Momoko trails off as she senses something about Juri. Not the negative cloud, but possibly the power she posesses.

"Hey, Momoko feels some kind of power within you!" She looks surprised yet eager at the same time. "Do you have Psychic Powers too?" She asks inquisitively.

==

And there it is, asked so simply. Of course Juri already knows the answer herself. Were it not for her own ability to sense other psycho users, her eye would provide her with the rest of the details. The spider on her finger, meanwhile, searches the air with its two long front legs before crawling down to hang from the bottom of her finger. An action that doesn't seem to bother the woman: The spider prompts no reaction from her at all.

The question does cause her to chuckle softly, before sighing. A look of boredom spreads across her features. "Of course I go hunting for some fun, and all I find is some naiive schoolgirl." She shrugs her right shoulder slightly before responding, "In a manner of speaking. You and I wield a similar kind of energy, though I don't even have to see it to tell that we're on totally different wavelengths."

The Taekwondoka hmphs, "Whatever ... anyway, what's your name? I don't think I've seen you around before. Which is odd since we..." A soft laugh, and Juri gently urges the spider to travel down to the back of her hand as she talks, "... I, usually like to keep up with all fighters with our particular traits."

==

"My name is Momoko, and it's really nice to meet you!" Momoko says with a grin. "Although, we wield things on different wavelengths, what does that mean?" She doesn't seem confused in the least bit. "Does that mean you're a master and that you could teach me? I mean I'm..." Then she realizes what Juri called her, and she suddenly scowls. "Wait, did you call me a naive schoolgirl?!" Momoko stomps a bare foot into the ground. "Momoko's no naive schoolgirl! Momoko's a capoeira prodigy!"

==

'A master and that you could teach me?' Juri is taken aback by this, just a little bit. Well more than that: For the first time since the conversation started her eyes widen considerably. Then a laugh rises from her throat that is ... uneven. She's perplexed by this girl, to be sure. "Teach you? I seriously doubt that. Your disposition hardly suits my methods." Her mouth then splits into a many-toothed grin, "Though perhaps it could be fun to see how far you could go, how far you WOULD go."

"Nah."

Juri shakes her head, before turning her hand over as the spider runs up and into her palm. She cups her palm, and covers it over with her over hand effectively trapping the small arachnid inside. "Momoko huh? You can call me Juri." A grin splits her face, "A prodigy huh? I was once called one of those too. But that was a lifetime ago, practically." From within the hands holding the spider, slipping out from between her fingers are faint rays of garish violet energy.

And when she unfolds her hands the spider remains, only now on its back with its legs curled skyward. Juri looks at the remains of the creature cradled in her palm before casually dumping it on the ground and grinding it into the dirt with her foot. "But I was naiive back then too. Do you even understand the power you wield, Momoko?"

==

Momoko goes wide-eyed at the energy, then watches in disgust as Juri crushes the spider. "What was that for?!" Momoko asks. "Spiders aren't nice to look at, but crushing it like that?! It didn't do anything to you? Just who are you suppoesd to be, Juri?! And what do you mean do I understand the power I wield?" She hmmphs. "Momoko knows all about her power, Momoko's been using it with her Capoeira for awhile! How does Juri think Momoko became a superstar?!"

==

"I was done with it." Juri states simply, and matter-of-factly. The continued protests from Momoko just causes the woman's bemused grin fall back into a bored smirk. She crosses her arms in front of her and regards the Capoeira fighter coolly. "Careful, little girl. That high and mighty routine really doesn't suit you. Besides, it was an important test."

A test? What sort of test was she conducting on the spider? Juri drops her arms from her front and begins to move again. This time walking around Momoko and sizing her up as she continues to talk. "I am Juri, that's really all you need to know. And you are a sickening wide eyed idealist with only the faintest idea of who and what you are."

The darkness in the area grows closer now, actually seeming to suck the life and energy from the natural surroundings. Everything grows pale, slightly washed out, and cold. The psychic presence of Juri grows stronger and reaches its vile tendrils out to try and snuff out whatever source of light it can reach. That includes, yes, even Momoko herself. Though in the real, physical world Juri is still simply pacing around Momoko as she speaks:

"You see, I was once like you. A long time ago. But I learned the truth, and you will learn it too: That all this love and justice shit will just get you killed. All that matters in this world is power, and the willingness to use that power."

Juri comes to a stop in front of Momoko now. Her left eye has the faintest glow as she grins, turning to face the girl. "You won't understand though, because you don't want to. But you'll learn, or you'll end up dead... or worse. Maybe you'll become some mad man's little toy puppet, walking around in fancy outfits and carrying out whims? Sounds like fun, huh?" A cruel grin splits her lips wide.

==

For a few moments, Momoko is intrigued by what Juri is saying. It's almost like her atmosphere and her voice has got a hold on Momoko. But then she abruptly snaps out of it and shouts, "NO! You're wrong! I'll never let that happen to me! You obviously don't even know how to properly use that kind of power!" Momoko stops and takes a deep breath and then blows it out. "You're obviously an evil person, and Momoko hates people who are evil!"

The next thing Momoko does is step back a little, still glaring at Juri. "You think Momoko would let a bad guy control her? Momoko's not a puppet! Momoko is Momoko! No one will control Momoko!" Another pause, then, "Juri thinks Momoko will do that? Well, Juri's wrong!"

==

At least she is polite, or rather, silent while Momoko goes on her mini-tirade against Juri. Though the woman seems unimpressed by what is being said, if the passive expression on her face is any indication. It is only when Momoko exclaims 'Juri is wrong!' that her face lights up. Literally! Her left eye, staring directly at Momoko, produces a soft high-pitched whine as it begins to glow with garish purple light. At the same time nebulous purple energy begins to form around the pair.

It begins simply as small eddies of independent psycho energy sweep up loose grass and debris, before suddenly forming together into a miniature cyclone of psychic energy that crackles with barely restrained force! Worse yet is as psycho power it carries the weight of emotion from its user: In the case of Juri it is emotions of rage, hatred, and the echo of terror kept restrained within the darkest recesses of her mind.

And ... just like that it ends. A dry chuckle escapes her lips, "Whipping schoolgirls ain't my idea of fun, sister." She states, explaining why the ... rather impressive psycho display with a lack of brutal attack following it up. "Evil? Maybe. It's not like I really care about childish labels like 'good' and 'evil' anymore." Light pink tongue slides over her dry lips before she continues, "Everything has a double meaning anyway. You could say it's a good and kindhearted act that I don't break you in half like a dry twig and leave you to rot in the forest. Truth is though, that would likely be boring. And I think it'd be a lot more fun to see how you develop."

"Maybe you'd even prove me wrong? Though, I doubt it."

==

"You?! Break Momoko in half?!" That was the last straw. "All right, now Momoko's gonna prove that Momoko's no kiddly-diddly-doo! Just because Momoko's small doesn't mean she's not tough!" Momoko almost immediately begins to get into her personalized version of the ginga (the traditional capoeirista's stance,) and steps back a little. "Momoko is not afraid of Juri! Come on!"

The shadowy Taekwondoka watches as the small Capoeira fighter prepares for battle. The reaction? Hilarious. Juri's entire body shakes with laughter suddenly! She then starts shaking her head, "WoW. You seriously have no problem pushing your luck, huh kid? I guess you think 'justice will always prevail' or something stupid like that... huh?" Her shoulders shrug, "But whatever, like I said, I beating up schoolgirls isn't that fun for me."

With that, Juri actually begins to walk away. Just flat turning her back completely on Momoko and ignoring her intentions completely. She waves one hand dismissively in the air, "Later, kid. Don't go get eaten by a lion or whatever."

COMBATSYS: Juri takes no action.

"MOMOKO IS NO SCHOOLGIRL!!" Momoko screams angrily, rushing after Juri. "Momoko isn't going to be getting eaten by lions! Momoko's going to prove to Juri that she knows what her power is all about!" Momoko starts cartwheeling towards Juri and attempts to somersault over her and then deliver a swift spinning kick.

COMBATSYS: Juri interrupts Medium Kick from Momoko with Karen Kick.

You can't really say that no one warned her. Though as Momoko rushes toward Juri in a fit of rage, and although Momoko herself can't see it, Juri's face splits into a broad smile. Right before the small girl reaches her position she comes to a stop, and doesn't seem to even move when the Capoeira kick descends in a swift spinning motion!

And she hardly has to. She moves slightly to the side so that the kick just barely grazes her shoulder. Then, as the girl is descending, Juri's body coils and twists like a serpent: First rising up to deliver a painful looking knee to Momoko's chest and then spinning around to deliver a brutal kick directly to her stomach! The result will be to send the smaller frame sliding across the ground of the clearing. Be thankful for the softness of the grass cushioning the sharp blows of rock and dirt, even if it will leave a most unfortunate stain.

And when Momoko does come to rest, there will be Juri clapping her hands and laughing, "Wow, I almost felt the breeze on that one. Though seriously, /little/ girl, what are you trying to prove?"

==

Momoko goes flying across the park area, rolling and getting into a standing position, still retaining the ginga. "You got Momoko that time! But I'm still just warming up! So come on!" Momoko keeps going in the ginga, slowly advancing but doing little else.

COMBATSYS: Momoko focuses on her next action.

The S.I.N. Spider just sighs helplessly and shakes her head. Her eyes glance skywards momentarily as she mumurs to herself, "Kids today." Her right hand rests on her shoulder while she lets the left go limp and toward the ground. Her head tilts in the same direction as she sneers toward Momoko, "I swear, it used to be that Japanese kids were the envy of the world in how disciplined they are. Now you're just a bunch of smart mouthed idiots whose idea of fashion is rolling in glue and falling into a laundry basket."

Juri's eyes narrow and she speaks coldly, "Fine... though seriously, you're not earning any points just by being stupid."

With that declaration, and a flash of bright purple energy, Juri vanishes! Or rather she moves with such incredible speed that it looks like she teleports. Dirt, blades of grass, small rocks and dust fly into the air at her passage, and in an instant she is upon Momoko! One hand lashes out to grab the small girl by the throat! If successful she'll fling her around like a rag doll briefly before releasing and sending her back-first into a nearby tree!

If successful.

COMBATSYS: Momoko blocks Juri's Medium Throw.

Momoko's caught and she's thrown into the air. But before she hits the tree, she recovers in midair and lands in a crouched position, albeit off-balance which leads to her to slightly grunt a little as she lands. "Juri's very tough, but Momoko can be tough too! Watch!" Momoko then attempts to roll at Juri on the ground, and if successful, she'll roll into her and then use a toe-kick to end things!

COMBATSYS: Juri endures Momoko's Phoenix Arrow.

Momoko           1/-------/=======|===----\-------\0             Juri

A point of favor for Momoko at least. The Spider is impressed to see the girl has enough sense about her to recover from being thrown in the air before smacking against a tree trunk. So the girl does have a brain rattling around in that head of hers. Though Juri can only eye-roll at her bravado.

It is in fact this eye-roll she is busy performing while Momoko rolls toward her. She is enjoying it so much that she doesn't even bother moving out of the way of the attack and instead savors the sarcastic glee in expressing the fullest extent of her disdain for the brave little hero wannabe. She's not even done when Momoko deliver's the toe-kick!

Which doesn't have the effect she wants most likely. It slams full force against Juri's body, sure, and the flash of psycho powered energy most likely does sting. Though it quickly ebbs away and Juri doesn't even stumble from the force of the blow. Instead she just grins with big, bright, predatory teeth, "Your psycho power is so sweet, innocent and pure. You've shown me yours..." purple energy begins to swirl violently around Juri's left foot, "Now I'll show you mine!"

With that, Juri sweeps her foot around to deliver a violent psycho powered kick. A flash of chaotic purple energy accompanies it, and if engulfed by it Momoko will momentarily be consumed with the rage and despair that Juri harbors.

Unpleasant doesn't even begin to describe.

COMBATSYS: Juri successfully hits Momoko with Fuhajin.

Momoko           1/-======/=======|=====--\-------\0             Juri

The rage that Juri harbors is most likely inside of Momoko now, since she was hit extra hard, and goes stumbling backwards. She gets up and looks at Juri with eyes that look almost red now. It's almost as if Juri's brainwashed Momoko on the spot... or has she? Because Momoko blinks her eyes a few times and says, "Momoko won't let you get away with that!" With that, Momoko begins to focus all of her psychic (or Psycho?) power into her body, and then sends forth a large blast of energy.

COMBATSYS: Juri fails to slow Esper from Momoko with Fuharenjin.
- Power fail! -

Momoko           0/-------/----===|===----\-------\0             Juri

What is it that's Juri's weakness, hm? Can you guess? As has been said before and must be said again: It's her hubris. The fact that she has sneering contempt for anyone she sees and being lesser than herself, and the willingness to let that blind her to any threat they may pose. It is with this in mind that the following result is obvious. As Momoko sends a ray of her psychic energy toward her she does a small backflip and prepares to fire back with a barrage of psycho power!

Though preparation is only as far as she gets.

Apparently she misjudged the speed at which the attack was coming, for as she delivers her first psycho powered kick the blast catches her violently in the stomach, then grinds its way upwards before engulfing her entire upper torso with luminous psychic energy!

The result is actually pretty catastrophic, and Juri is sent sprawling to the ground for the first time this fight.

"Heh..." . "Hahaha..." .. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" ... Juri slams her feet against the ground and she rises up again within a fraction of a second. Her eyes are alight with passionate fire now, and the bandage of her neck has been partially ripped off allowing Momiji to see the wound she carries. A ragged, half-healed gash left in her neck. Left by someone's /teeth/. "GOOD! That's what I was hoping for! Yes. Come on! Don't stop now little girl! You want to break me, don't you?!"

==

"Break you! Of course I want to break you!" Momoko snaps, still showing fire in her eyes... then she slows down as the anger leaves her body and she remembers she's hurt badly. "I mean... no... Momoko.... Momoko is confused!" She slows down her ginga and drops to one knee to catch her breath.

COMBATSYS: Momoko gains composure.

Momoko           0/-------/-----==|===----\-------\0             Juri

The cruel Taekwondoka, the sadistic assassin of S.I.N., the former prodigy and aspiring justice adherent frowns at Momoko's response. "There's no time." She raises one hand to hold over her left eye, almost as if she has a sudden headache, and from the way she grits her teeth one might think she does. Though it is an expression of frustration that covers her face, "There is no confusion, no mercy, no regret. There is only the fight. To win, to break someone, or to lose and be broken! That is all that matters, and once you figure that out."

Juri's hand slides from her left eye, revealing it just as a taijitu snaps closed over her iris and pupil. Then it begins to spin, faster and faster until it becomes a glowing purple blur and produces a high pitched whine! Faint purple energy flows through her form, and she states, "You'll realize how boring everything else is."

With that, Juri's entire form blurs with incredible speed toward Momoko! Every motion, every step happens within the blink of an eye! It'll begin, as these things often do, with a thunderous knee strike aimed toward the small girl's stomach.

COMBATSYS: Juri successfully hits Momoko with Feng Shui Engine.
- Power hit! -

Momoko           2/<<<<<<</<<<<<<<|-------\-------\0             Juri

No mercy for children, it would seem.

The first strike lands with incredible brutal force, so much so it sends the small frame of the poor girl flying backwards! Though in a blur of motion Juri moves forward faster than Momoko can fly backwards, and grabs the girl's hair to stop her backwards progression. When Momoko's backwards momentum is cancelled Juri will release her, only appear above the small girl and drive her downward with a painful looking kick!

Juri will land and deliver a painful kick aimed towards sending the small girl arcing through the air, only for Juri to appear at the apex of her ascent and deliver a mighty downward crescent kick flaring with psycho power!

But it's not over, just as the girl nears the ground Juri appears one more time, and catches her in her arms. Her breath can be felt on Momoko's hear, as she whispers in a sharp hiss, "Kill, kill..."

"KILL!" A final blast of psycho energy will send Momoko crashing to the ground, with Juri standing triumphantly over her. "So... are we having fun yet?"

==

Even while she lies flat on the ground, bones bruised and her body bloodied and bruised, Momoko still struggles to stay awake. In desperation, she just BARELY forces herself up one more time... Even though she's obviously going to collapse in a second, Momoko sends forth one last beam of energy before she collapses for the last time. Apparently, big things really DO come in small packages!

COMBATSYS: Momoko can no longer fight.

And so, another beam of psychic energy slams into Juri's body! It sends her stumbling backwards, but this time she keeps to her feet. Still, the back-to-back blasts do seem to have taken their toll from the way Juri holds herself. An average individual likely wouldn't notice, but a trained fighter would immediately recognize the tender, deliberate movements of one favoring their injuries.

And yet Juri is standing victorious, and from the smile decorating her face... /quite/ happy with the result of this fight. The sting of the psychic energy is a prize to savor, and her soft laughter can be heard gracing by Momoko's ears, "Not bad. Not bad at all. You may have potential after all. Of course, if I was afraid of that I could kill you right now." She pauses to lick her lips, "Instead, we'll just have to see how you grow. Hopefully you'll provide amusement for me for a very... /very/ long time."

And now, much as she did earlier, Juri turns her back on Momoko and begins to walk away. Though this time with a bit more of a bounce to her step.

==

Momoko is out cold pretty much. Meanwhile, onlookers from afar are rushing to her aid to get her to someplace safe for treatment. While she's out cold now, when she awakens, she's definitely going to remember Juri and what she did to her... not to mention that evil power she used.
