Description: Continuing his Neo League efforts, Zach faces Maki in Croatia. (Winner: Maki)
Welcome to Croatia, a place which has suddenly become more popular for the Neo League. Not long after one just aired here recently, another one is happening here. Same place, new competitors though. One of whom happens to be none other than Maki Genryusai, a well known fighter on the Neo League circuit, and also known for her heroic efforts with the Mad Gears in Metro City. With her tonfa skills and her ninja-like abilities, Maki is definitely one not to be taken lightly, despite the fact she's a girl.
As Maki stands off to the side, she warms up a little, doing some light stretching and practicing a few techniques while chatting with some of her fans. When she's not in the fight, she enjoys talking to her fans and making small talk, maybe even sharing a laugh or two. But once she's done warming up, it's time to prepare for the actual fight. She steps towards her spot and waits for her opponent.
Zach Glen, on the other hand, has not waded through gangs. Nor does he posesses ninja skills or awesome weapons. What he has is drive. Drive and power. Zach has been waiting for a couple of moments, the psychic energy that is his birthright thrumming through his veins with a familiar warmth.
He nods once to Maki before settling into a classic boxing stance. Purple energy ripples across his arms as he shuffles his feet to get a rhythm going. He waits for the bell.

As Zach makes his appearance, Maki nods to him as well, having fought him at least once before. "Seems you've been fairly active in the Neo League like I have," She comments with a slight smirk. "If I beat you, I'll be going up. But if you beat me, who knows what will happen?" She jumps up and down a few times to make sure the blood in her body is flowing rapidly.
Maki then gets into her fighting stance, and then the official checks both fighters to make sure they're ready, before signalling for the bell. At that, Maki stands steadily in her fighting stance, watching Zach's every move.

Zach is not kept waiting for very long. He ignores Maki. Zach has done well in the Leagues before, using the sheer volume of fights to make up for the fact that he is severely outclassed by many of his opponents. The bell rings once, bright and clear, and Zach is already dashing in with a surprisingly long stride from someone of his height.
Once Zach gets in to where he thinks he is close enough, he snaps out a lightning fast jab at Maki's face, augmented by that strange violet energy that courses through him!

Maki watches as Zach approaches her, and tries to match him move for move, attempting to anticipate what he's planning. But Maki's not quite on par with Zach, and when he tries to punch at her face, he succeeds, since her defense is a bit too slow. She staggers backwards as the fist hits her in the cheek and near her jaw, causing her to hold that spot in pain for a moment before looking up and shaking the pain off.
"Pretty good," Maki comments, before rushing towards Zach and lifting her tonfa up in an effort to clothesline him directly in the neck. Hopefully this should show that Maki's just as capable of fighting as Zach is.

Zach is pulling back his left arm from the jab when Maki starts her swing. The motion from retracting the jab is decently suited for preventing the neck strike. He grins; he felt some good feedback from that jab. Time to follow it up. He brings back his right fist, stepping in once more as he rotates at the hips.
More soul power masses in that right hand, forming a metallic-looking gauntlet as Zach drives it forward. There is a twisting in Zach's shoulder as he hammers the right straight at Maki's head one more time!

As soon as Zach starts to twist, Maki can tell what he's planning, and it doesn't take her long to drop down into a crouched position while the punch goes right over her head. She looks up and tsks briefly, but doesn't come out of her crouch or move at all. Rather, she uses this to follow up into a counterattack of her own.
Without missing a beat, Maki drops onto the tip of her tonfa and begins to rapidly spin around with her foot extended, looking like a human whirlwind... with a foot that's aiming to strike Zach and maybe knock him down!

Zach's face breaks out into a swift grin; he remebered Maki's fighting style from the YFCC tournament. He was waiting for the girl to over-extend herself. Zach takes a foot into the right shoulder even as he lowers into a crouch of his own. He springs upward, throwing an uppercut that goes wide of Maki's body.
The punch, however, was not the plan. The wave of psychic energy that follows in his wake more than does the job, slamming into the spinning girl with terrific force!
Maki's signature move may also be the thing that could be her downfall. If you know her well, you'll know that her maneuever does have its weak points. Meaning that she sometimes fouls up and gets knocked to the ground hard. She lands with a loud oomph, but then jumps back onto her feet, taking a moment to catch her breath, but otherwise still standing. (Yeah, yeah, yeah!)
"Pretty good, you caught me off-guard there," Maki comments as she waves her tonfa at Zach. "But I'm just warming up." Maki's words ring strong as she keeps a firm eye on Zach.
COMBATSYS: Maki focuses on her next action.

Zach gives only a slight grunt to acknowledge the comment; he's not here to talk really, and he doesn't really /feel/ like witty repartee at the moment. Maki backs off to plan. Zach's plan is the same as it usually is: Ever Onward.
Zach dashes in, quickly manuevering to Maki's right flank. Zach stops long enough to plant his feet, twisting at the hips as he does so to fire off a crushing left hook at Maki's liver!

More punching, huh? Well, Maki's ready for it. She'll grab his fist and throw him over her shoulder, showing that you shouldn't underestimate Maki like that. Except things don't always go as planned. She zigs when she should've zagged, and finds herself getting punched and sent spinning around before coming to a stop.
"Damn, what did I do wrong?!" She says to herself as she tries to regain her stance and shake off the dizziness. "This kid's playing with a larger deck than I thought!"
Zach grins. Seems he's put the fear into Maki. He blasts forward again, dropping into a crouch like he did to stop her signature move. The approach, the wind-up, a lot of it is almost identical to that attack albiet with a somewhat smaller jump.
The exception, however, is that this time, Zach plans to plant that psycho-powered fist right underneath Maki's jaw in a classic Gazelle Punch!

Fear is not something that Maki feels. It's more like she's angry about being beaten down by this kid, and she can't understand why. Nor can she understand why she's just been hit extra hard despite her best efforts to protect herself. As she reels backwards, Maki drops to one knee, balancing on the tip of her tonfa, and looks up at Zach.
"There's no way..." Maki says under her breath, "That I'm gonna let him win that easily." She starts to slowly get up, breathing deeply.

Zach senses a pause in the action. It's as good a point as any, really. Zach grins, recalling the last time he faced this girl. He'd understand why she's surprised by him now; he was slacking off during their first encounter.
Not today, however. Zach lets out a sharp kiai, the energy that surges through him responding to the yell as it flares around him. Roofing tile and stones are blasted away from the small psychic in an impressive display of power.

As Zach focuses himself, Maki stares intently at him and nods. It seems he's got the idea of focusing on his inner power, and Maki decides that while it might seem like a prime time to ambush him, he easily could have some kind of surprise lying in wait. So Maki approaches with caution.
When Maki gets close enough, she attempts to trip him with a swift foot sweep.

Zach lowers his center of gravity, dropping into a three point stance. The kick scythes in and slams into his arm, but Zach still stands. He frowns a bit; this is a bad position to throw a punch from.
But he seems willing to try anyway. He brings his right arm, which is not supporting his weight, back as he lunges up and towards Maki with a deep step. This punch is not short, or compact, but it packs one hell of an impact if it connects with Maki's midsection!

If it connects is the right thing to say, since as it stands, Zach's punch misses completely as Maki rolls out of the way completely, landing in a crouched position. "Looks like you missed me," Maki comments as she twirls her tonfa a few times. "But I'm not about to miss you that easily."
Still continuing to twirl her tonfa, Maki stares at Zach, before sprinting towards him. As she gets closer, she brings up her tonfa and attempts to strike Zach with a fierce strike of her tonfa.

Zach winces even as he throws the punch. He has over-extended himself, leaving an opening that Katana could drive a truck through. The tonfa slams into Zach's head with thunderous impact, staggering the young psychic. He tumbles and rolls away looking at Maki with a faint scowl. The start of what looks to be a nasty bruise appears on Zach's face as he considers his options.
He got too aggressive with that move, and decides to track the ninja girl's movements for a bit to get a better feel for her fighting style.

As Maki returns to her fighting stance, she notices how hard she struck Zach, and how despite that serious blow, he's still going, and he looks mighty angry. And Maki knows that an angry fighter is not one to be taken lightly. She pulls back a little, still keeping her distance from Zach while keeping her eye on him.
"Take it easy, Maki," She says to herself. "He's not going to take you out that easily." She takes a few deep breaths, trying to take advantage of this moment to regain some lost stamina.

Zach would not be too sure of that last sentiment, to be honest. He grins a bit as he blasts in close once more. Only instead of throwing another punch, he simply curls in on himself for a moment as motes of purple light whip around him furiously.
There is a purpose for the light show, really. The lights seem to collect and wrap themselves around Zach's frame for a moment before Zach bolts upright, arching his back and throwing his arms back. Centered on Zach, a storm of psycho power erupts in a vertical column, reaching as far as ten feet in some places. Maki had better move if she wants to get away cleanly!

The pillars of psycho power get Maki good and strike her hard. She's not able to predict where each one will come from, and as a result gets hit hard by each one. She's knocked around, sent staggering, and even propelled towards Zach.
Of course, there's one hitch: Maki somehow stops abruptly and glares at Zach. "You won't win that easily!" She yells, and then charges at him and attempts to deliver a flurry of tonfa strikes and kicks.
COMBATSYS: Maki has reached second wind!

Zach winces; she caught that pretty much on the chin. He fully expected that to be the end of the match. Perhaps he underestimated the young lady. Perhaps he didn't put enough english on that attack. Either way, he's caught flat-footed when Maki starts her last stand. He tries to slip the tonfa strikes, catching more than he avoids. Before the kicks start to come, Zach whips an open hand upward in a defiant gesture.
However, the pummeling had already moved past the point where that ripping wave of soul power would have done any good, and Zach hits the rooftop hard. He doesn't get back up again.
Maki staggers forward after finishing her attacks and drops to one knee... but then gets back up suddenly, a new sense of energy flowing through her body. She looks towards Zach, who's officially down and out for the count. She looks at him and nods a little. "That was a very close battle. But you must always remember to watch out for a sudden comeback at all times." She steps away as the attendants come in to check on Zach while the referee signals the end of the fight.
