Description: After the police took some property of Vega's from Quon, Kain took it upon himself to investigat the unusual devices. Vega doesn't let things like police confiscation slide, though, and Sagat is sent to retrieve them. Luckily, sometimes cooler heads prevail.
[OOC] Kain starts up a log, and thinks about an opening.
[OOC] Sagat says, "Cool. A bit slow to start. First day not feeling like hell so kinda trying to get things cleaned up at the apartment."
There was a time when Geese Howard was the undisputed ruler of Southtown. Such a position has a number of perks. But now that he's gone, Kain Heinlein doesn't want to exactly take over the same role, since it carries with it a degree of exposure that led to Geese being ousted in the first place. But there are still some useful pieces to pick up. Crooked cops are still crooked, and they still need money. And have a fear of being horribly killed by extremely powerful men if they say anything.
And so, Kain has managed to get some plants in the Southtown police department. Mostly they're there to keep an eye out for anything unusual. And a seizure of what turns out to be some very high tech looking equipment falls into the category. Some crates were taken from Quon after a run-in with the law, and after being alerted to the contents, Kain managed to arrange a little inspection. While he's not extremely experienced with Psycho Power, he does know a whole lot about chi, and can easily tell the difference. So, high tech machinery that involves Psycho Power in some fashion. A few bribes in the right areas, some misplaced paperwork, and the confiscated crates find their way to one of the many warehouse of unremarkable appearance by the docks.
Experts on Psycho Power are hard to come by, but electronics experts aren't, and so Kain is standing in the warehouse, listening to one of the latter explain that it appears to be a transmitter of some sort, but there doesn't seem to be any clear way in which to actually access the signal.
[OOC] Sagat says, "Any people set up outside?"
[OOC] Kain says, "Yeah, probably just a couple security guys, dressed up to look like your average dockworker/warehouse laborer."
It isn't truely a major loss that Quon was arrested and these items confiscated, but Vega really does hate losing anything if he can help it. And when he has people to send and retrieve said items why not do so? The mere fact he felt like sending Sagat shows that there is still some importance to the devices that currently are in Kain's possession. With the help of Shadaloo's intel the group was able to pinpoint where the items have come up. Of course some crooked cops were roughed up to gain that information, but in the end that is no real big loss for either side.
With the location pinpointed it doesn't take long for the correct warehouse to be found. A spy set up to keep an eye on where people are coming and going alerted Sagat of the activity going around one specific warehouse and that is why there is soon a commotion outside. The men set up as simple dockworkers are soon sounding in a panic. Even worse is the fact most of those cries are being subdued quickly.
tThere is soon a rattling and one of the walls to the warehouse soon has a new opening in it thanks to the large Sagat stepping through and holding one of the guards in his grip. That single eye narrows some when seeing Kain as well. "I hate to show up unannounced, but I have a pickup to make." he comments dryly while dropping the knocked out guard.
Kain turns around when Sagat comes busting through the wall, but calmly. He doesn't appear to be particularly surprised. Something along these lines was in the top five outcomes he had predicted. After all, how many people can make use of Psycho Power and have access to a significant technology base? That's also why Heinlein had the devices shipped here, rather than a more secure location. Wherever they ended up was likely to get smashed up anyway, so why not put them somewhere it won't matter?
Heinlein doesn't even glance at the dropped guard. Hired muscle of that level is easy enough to replace. "Ah, I was expecting someone to come by, sooner or later. I suppose this means these devices are important. Or perhaps you were just in the neighborhood already?" He smiles, then makes a dismissive gesture to the man who had been examining the devices. Up until this point, fear had kept him rooted in place, but now he takes the opportunity to run like hell.
"Curious things, too." He glances over at one of the devices which has been unpacked, then back at Sagat. "I don't suppose you know anything about their purpose? It'd only be polite to tell me about them, after I went to the trouble of getting them away from the police. Makes this much more low profile, don't you agree?"
The larger fighter steps forward, but actually comes to a stop a few feet away from Kain and folds his arms over his massive chest. He glances down at the other fighter and he gives a shake of his head. "I try to avoid learning about what things do if I can help it." He could care less what Vega may be up to, but figures it has something to do with in counteracting NESTS' operations in China from his best guess. "And if he wanted to keep things low profile I doubt he would have sent me."
True, someone like Balrog would have easily slipped in and out of the station without too much of a fuss. Same with Cammy, but no. At the moment as much as Vega and Sagat have been at odds he has been using the big man because as much as Sagat doesn't want to be helping Shadaloo at the moment he is getting results. "I do want to make this as little of a ruckus as I can, but I am sure you realize I am not in a position to leave without those items." He then pauses and seems to consider momentarily as he reaches up to rub at his chin with a giant hand. "Though I suppose a few could get 'broke' in a confrontation."
Sagat has disconnected.
Sagat has connected.
[OOC] Sagat grump.
Kain tilts his head back slightly in order to meet Sagat's gaze, failing to be intimidated by the larger man looming over him. "Ah well. It was worth asking, at least. I do like to be up to date on what is going on in the city." He listens for a moment. No sirens, yet. Nobody here working for him would call the authorities for help, but it's probably just a matter of time until /somebody/ reports having heard the sounds of the brief fight, or Sagat punching through a wall.
"As far as I can tell, these devices really aren't of much use to me, so I suppose Vega can have them back. Though in the future I would appreciate some notice if he's going to be operating in my back yard. It would help prevent unfortunate incidents."
[OOC] Kain thinks a peaceful resolution to this problem is possible. Madness!
[OOC] Sagat says, "High ratio people meeting and not fighting!? The game is over!"
[OOC] Kain says, "But yeah, as long as it doesn't mess with Kain or his own interests, I don't see Kain being too bothered by whatever Vega is doing. Will it cause horrible problems for other people? Not Kain's problem!"
There is a quiked brow and the cyclops seems a bit surprised by things going this well. He expected some sort of conflict or at least some shrewd bargaining to get Kain to hand over the goods. Of course there is the dubiousness of Vega finding the items were recovered without a real incident. Or if Sagat does pass over the message from Kain how the Shadaloo lord's reaction might be. Of course Sagat could care less. This makes things much easier and allows himself to concentrate on other things instead.
The giant unfolds his arms and he goes to lumber around Kain to start gathering up everything into the box again. "I will be sure to tell him. I can't promise he will listen of course." As if Vega will ever really listen to anybody other than himself. Then again Sagat pretty much can assume Kain knows that much. Once everything seems gathered he hefts the box up onto a shoulder and he turns about to regard Kain once again. "Let us hope we meet again later rather than sooner. Agreed?"
Kain smiles thinly. No, he doesn't expect Vega to be particularly cooperative. But even Vega might think twice about making a powerful enemy that hd doesn't need. And at least for the moment, Kain is willing to let things play out however they might go. "Well, when we do meet again, we'll just have to see what happens." He certainly doesn't seem worried about the possibility.
As Kain turns to make his own exit, not wanting to be here when people come to check out the damage to the building, he pauses and turns his head back toward Sagat for a moment. "Oh, yes. Don't forget to inspect the shipment for surveillance devices. You won't find any, but I'm sure Vega will appreciate the thoroughness."
[OOC] Sagat says, "Short, but sweet. It at least ties up a loose end there since no one else Shadaloo wise would probably go and fetch it."
[OOC] Kain says, "Works for me! Not everything has to be in a fight, and it's nice to tie off loose ends and full in stories."
[OOC] Kain says, "Fill in, even."
[OOC] Sagat nods in agreement. "Sagat is probably one of the few that would be sent that would look for an option other than a fight too."
[OOC] Kain will go ahead and stop the log, then in a bit get it cleaned up and published.
