Cammy - I Hear They Do Good Bread And Water

Description: Cammy goes to meet Quon in jail. Given the conversation she had with Rust the night before, she is expecting the worst...

Quon's afternoon started with a guard coming to his cell informing him that he had a visitor. The moment that he was told she was a cute blonde, he cringed. After all, who else could it be? With a long suffering sigh, he slowly made his way to the booth and sat down.

He looked around at the other inmates who were also receiving visitors, some were connections to their criminal enterprises on the outside, some were baby mamas, some were lawyers. His visitor would be someone who fancies themselves a friend and while on one hand he would like to consider himself her friend, he has to face facts that she brings him way too much trouble.

Cammy is a little bit nervous being in a prison, so has taken the time to wear something of a disguise, and an even better disguise than normal. Not expecting to fight, the doll uniform is absent - not even concealed - in favour of blue jeans and a big white fluffy sweater, both of which look brand new, and chosen more or less at random, which would probably upset Ibuki. The braids and the combat boots are a constant, however.

Directed to the booth where Quon awaits on the far side of plate glass, she makes her way over, and settles down in front of him, picking up the handset to talk, while staring at him with wide blue eyes. "Hello? How did you get in there?".

Quon picks up his handset just Cammy picks up hers. He doesn't put it up to his ear right away. Instead, the Chongquan Jailbird ponders what he's going to say next. He doesn't have much time to ponder however since Cammy has taken the initiative to speak first.

He doesn't answer her question directly but even still it's enough to at least give an idea of what set the events in motion words stated with a degree of bitterness though still slightly tinged with fear. "/He/ visited me."

He pauses, takes a deep breath. "You said I was beneath his notice but yet /he/ still visited me."

"H-he did?" Cammy replies, hesitantly, not sure if she even believes it, not at first. "And he put you in jail?". Her face falls, and for a while, she is unable to meet his gaze. Though really, it's not that that bothers her so much, it's the sound of how unhappy and bitter Quon is, even over the tinny handset. She shifts and squirms in the her chair, worried about what else Quon is going to say. And it sounds like Lord Vega might be pissed off, too. Which is worrying, as He never told Cammy anything.

She lets a long silence build, a question on the tip of her tongue, but too afraid of the possible answer to ask it, so she just waits, uncomfortable, for Quon to say more, while she stares at the counter top.

"No. I put myself there." He is quiet for moment. The wheels keep turning in his head and then he speaks up once more. "Maybe I should start from the beginning." His lips turn downward and then he leans forward with elbow resting on the counter top and his hand on his forehead.

"He appeared in my car and told me to drive. We ended up in this warehouse and he gave me the third degree about what my intentions were for you. He then informed me that while he felt our association was a waste of your time, I was to continue our association and that if I were to harm you or touch you in any untoward way, I'll wish that I was left bleeding and dying." The hand clutching the handset goes white as grips it tightly from the fear that he felt from just being in Vega's presence. "He had some crates put in the trunk and sent me to make a delivery. For all I knew, I could've been set up and I would get killed the moment I made the delivery so I got myself arrested for both underage drinking and drunk driving." Well it's the truth if not the whole truth. He didn't actually swallow the drink but he made it look incriminating enough that there was no way he wouldn't get arrested.

The silence becomes uncomfortable but soon he fills it with what starts as a low volume as it slowly builds up to a crescendo of sound and anger. "Why... Why, Cammy? I didn't ask them to get involved in my life. I wanted nothing to do with them. All I wanted was to live my life and work towards my own dreams. IS THAT TOO FUCKING MUCH TO ASK FOR!? BUT THEY WERE THE ONES WHO INVOLVED ME IN THEIR SHIT!"

The prisoners around him pause their own conversations in stunned silence as they look at the Asian. He rarely cursed, and in fact he was one of the quieter inmates. The fact that he did both, in such small amount of time speaks a lot toward his current emotional state. And he's definitely not acting right now.

Them. Them is really Cammy, as well. "I... do not really know why." . The Doll wrings her hands, and shrugs thin shoulders, as she goes on in a hoarse whisper. "I just liked you for some reason. You showed me how to play games. I do not know why Lord Vega would be interested in this. He is so hard to interest normally.". She glances around, nervousness building, and then looks up at Quon finally, blue eyes liquid.
"I wasn't sure if you would want to see me here." she admits. "I thought you'd done something stupid, because I was pressuring you or something, I don't really understand it, as I do not pressure you. But then I spoke to Rust to see what he'd say, and so, here I am. Are you not happy that I am here?" she asks, thinking back on Rust's rather negative summation last night.

He's at a loss for how to respond. It takes a while but he finally decides on the approach to take with it. "Because you're his favorite." That right there is insight that Quon shouldn't have been able to come across on his own. Given their conversations. But he has come to that conclusion. "It's your attention that made me a subject of his interest."

As for what he wants, he deflects it with a question of his own. "Does it really matter what I want?" Is it a reference to the fact that he's in prison, or the fact that he is to continue seeing her or suffer severe consequences? Both are equally plausible.

Cammy tilts her head, and slowly nods. "I am saddened that you think this way. We are friends." she declares. "Of course it matters to me, if you like me being around you. Why do you think I have tried to cheer you up and help you? So you would be happier when you see me. I want to know.".
There is a pause, before she adds, "Though... no... never mind...". She shrugs, and bows her head again, expecting the worst, and for reasons she's not quite sure why - and certainly aren't her fault, in any case.

Quon sighs. "But thing is, believe we are friends. And I like hanging out with friends. It's just..." He pauses for a moment. "It's just I don't like feeling as though I'm having a knife held to my throat to simply hang out with you. I don't like having to worry about being strong-armed into something I don't want to do by your organization. And that whole breaking into my dorm thing? Not cool. Two out of those three ain't your fault. But it's not a pleasant feeling."

He swallows down a lump in his throat as he tries to think of what else he wants to say. "Under those conditions, it's hard for me to want to hang out with you even if we had fun previously. I just don't see him not applying that pressure on me. And you sneaking around to see me isn't gonna work either because he'll keep tabs on you constantly. So he'll /know./"

"I am sorry about the dorm. I did not realise you would be so sensitive about it." Cammy tells him, with a very slightly petulant look. "I have made up for it though, and will never break into yoru dorm again." she promises. "It sounds to me like you want to me to go away. But you are not coming out and saying it.". She shrugs, the Doll trying very hard to keep her impassive look going, though her eyes still look potentially tear-laden.
"Lord Vega can visit anybody he likes, whether I am there or not. But if you don't like seeing me, well...". She shrugs again, looking down at the counter top once more.
The sting of rejection, it stings!

He can see the tears welling up. But he's conflicted. One part of him that wants to say take a hike because he doesn't want the baggage she comes with. The other part, the part that had fun with her and Ibuki, just hanging out wants to break through the glass and hug her.

His answer falls somewhere in the middle yet still honest. "On one hand, I've grown to like hanging out with you. On the other, I don't like the other stuff that comes with it." In particular, Vega.

"When it comes down to it, though, I still can't say, 'I don't want to see you again.' The moment I do..." He lets that hang there and lets Cammy fill in the blanks.

Cammy thinks it over for a while, and then decides that this is positive. If only a stay of execution, but positive enough. She jumps up off the chair, and reaches out to put a hand on the plate glass, giving him a huge grin. She has Hakan and Ibuki to hang around with as well, but Quon is her favourite so far, so this is good news! Good news enough to completely change her demeanour.
She grabs the handset again. "I knew that Rust would be wrong. You would not want me to go away. Rust told me that you would be getting out of here fairly soon, you don't think he was wrong about that too, do you?" she asks. "If I can help you, you should tell me. Though I don't think I can probably help you that much, that is why I talked to Rust in the first place.".

Quon for his part ends up shaking his head at the oh so cruel irony in this situation. There's only one thing he desires help with and in order for that to happen, it happens to be the one thing he can't actually ask for three reasons. Cammy, when she's not breaking into his dorm or killing people in the name of Lord Vega, isn't bad to hang out with. He can't bear the idea of seeing the look on her face. And the moment he does ask her not be around him, the best case scenario is ending up a vegetable.

"I'll let you know." He then looks down. "Nothing left to do but to cool my heels in here."

Cammy wilts a bit, when she sees that Quon is not nearly as happy as she is. "Well... OK." she says through the headset, not convinced that Quon is being entirely straight with her. After all, why the headshaking? It didn't look like it was because he was happy she was happy, far from it. "I hope you are not doing your acting thing again. Oh, that reminds me. I have a gift for you of sorts, regarding thing. I hope you get out of here quickly, or my gift might be ruined. I arranged it, before you ended up in here.".
"But I suppose I should go, I think our time is running out, unless you have anything else to ask me first. Also, this prison makes me nervous. Southtown is filled with very bad people.". Bad people who don't like Shadaloo, the very worst sort of bad people.

Quon's only response. "I got nothin'. Thanks for the heads up, though." It's something that he was already aware of but he can't help but note the irony in her saying that there are very bad people in prison.

He doesn't have time to say much else because he's already being escorted back to his cell. When he's well away from her, he finds himself musing to himself. "How sad is it that I feel more free in here than I did out there?" Of course that may have been because his moments in the outside world was around Vega.
