Faolan - Gangsters and Soldiers

Description: Faolan visits Southtown a bit early to prep for yet another weekend of SNF. A attempt to just get a snack leads him to run into the strange Megane from Gedo High. The irishman is left ten times of confused and apparently a fight is in the future.

It's early evening, and the sun is beginning to set in the sky. There's not a lot of people in the store, and they're all absorbed in their own business at the moment, shopping for dinner, mostly. The cashier runs a finger over his moustache, absent-mindedly reading the ingredients on one of the candy bar displays.

Megane walks past the various, away from the refrigerated section, holding a can of green tea soda in his hand. He pauses to look at the bread, and a couple of melon bread disappear up his sleeve in a smooth practiced movement, while his eyes are focused on the curry bread display nearby. He shakes his head after a moment, letting out a slight sigh, and turns to walk closer to the cash register.

Southtown is always an interesting place to visit. Faolan mostly only ends up here during his off time these days. In fact he is only in town right now due to his SNF taking place not far from here over in the Taiyo dome. Of course he arrived early so he could just enjoy some time to himself and goof off. He is actually in the store and only his hat can really be seen at the moment as he is leaned over in an isle idly deciding what brand of chips would taste best. You never know about some of the flavors offered in different countries. That is for sure.

He tchs lightly and he idly taps his bata on the floor as he thinks, leaning on it almost like some old man getting ready to tell kids to get off his lawn. "Japanese are weird." he says under his breath. He certainly hasn't seen anything out of the ordinary just yet. He is too engrossed in his own thought process to even realize something might be going on inside the store at the moment.

Japanese are wierd?

Megane hears that, and furrows an eyebrow for a second. Well, it must seem that way to a foreigner, who doesn't know what normal is. He walks over next to the man, says "Excuse me," quietly, and reaches out to take a small bag of cheese cake flavored puffs. Which he casually slides under his jacket as well, his slight feeling of insult or distraction by thinking about relativism if strangeness the making him a little bolder than usual.

There is a brow raised and Faolan finds his attention shifted some to look towards Megane. "Oh, no problem. Am I in the way?" he asks as he straightens up and he tips his hat a bit as he takes a step back. He does seem to notice something. His head tilts a bit and he clicks his tongue as he looks at the younger man. "You know. I am pretty sure the custom in this country is the same as mine." he comments a bit dryly. "I think money is exchanged for what you are grabbing there, fellah."

He is at least not speaking loud enough to where the owner can seem to hear it. The mercenary just grins a bit and nods back towards where the bag of puffs were taken. "Now be a good boy and put that stuff back." he tells him. Despite the rather relaxed posture and the grin he does have a rather serious tone to his voice. He is also straightening up fully and gripping his bata firmly with a hand. "Or be sure to pay the man."

Megane smiles just a trace, looking Faolan in the eye, and sets the puffs carefully, furtively down, and his hand dissapears up his sleeve for a moment as two melon pan slide back onto the shelf. However, the way he's facing, while it's quite clear exactly what he's doing to Faolan, it's hidden from everyone else. He then raises the always in clear view soda can in his hand and hits it down with a clunk when it hits the shelf.

"What's that?" His voice is loud, indignant with shades of disbelief, like Faolan just said some very nasty things about his mother out of the blue. He steps closer to the mercenary, and reaches a hand up to shove at his chest - not violently hard, but rather in a matter that is meant to intimidate. Not that he thinks it'll work. "You saying that the Triad is in charge here, now, is that it? You think you can just piss all over the Japanese? You wanna take this outside?"

Well that was easy enough he thinks to himself. That is until he apparently said something that really sets the younger man off. The shove only makes Faolan take a step back because he was caught of guard from it. "Eh? Take a look at me, fellah." he says as he leans forward just slightly. They are close to the same height afterall so it isn't like he needs to look down much. "Do I look like I would be associated with that sort of group?" he asks and straightens back up.

He chuckles and pats his chest with his free hand. "I'm a soldier and nothing more. Just here enjoying some time off." he explains and he grins slightly again as he eyes Megane. "I am just saying if you are gonna take that stuff you should pay the owner. People got to make a living, right?" Of course he has no idea if Megane is stealing for fun or because he is in a bad situation. It is just sort of hard to ignore things when he sees it happening right in front of him.

Megane narrows his eyes, walking closer to Faolan, a little quieter now that they've got people's attention, his voice dipping with disgust. "You leave Mei out of this. She's not your property, and I don't owe you nothing. You Triad bastards don't own her!"

He shakes his head, shoving at Faolan again. "'People got to make a living?' Is that what you tell yourself makes all of the dirty stuff you do okay? If you don't step outside, I'm going to beat the crap out of you right here!"

Okay now this is just getting a bit weird. Who the heck is Mei even. The Ikari actually has to look around as if someone else is being talked to and he comes to realize he is the one. "I feel like we are having two conversations here." he finally says and lets out a sigh. All this triad talk just confuses him. He hasn't even dealt with that group and he highly doubts that he is someone that they would normally hire for any sort of thing.

He then gets told he is going to get the crap beat out of him? The Irishman sets his jaw and there is a slight crackle, a bit of energy snaking through his bata that he quickly gets under his control. "Fellah, I am unsure what is wrong, but you need to just go home and calm yourself." He is trying to be diplomatic as he can be, but it also seems he isn't like the tone of voice the younger man is taking. he also doesn't handle threats well at all.

Well, those words are just easy to twist. "Oh, you're threatening my family now, is that it?" Megane shoves at him one more time, lowering his voice. "Well, I don't want to trash this store, so if you want to hide in here, you'll get off today. But if I see you again, I'm going to take you apart. You got that?" He walks towards the exit, glancing over his shoulder at Faolan - not like he's nervous what he'll do, but like he's so mad he's having trouble walking away, that he's trying to hide his anger. Although actually, it's mostly that he's nervous.

What is with kids these days? Granted it isn't like Faolan is THAT much older, but he is being used to being raised by a rather strick father as well as dealing with the likes of Heidern nowadays. He looks apologetic to the people that had to see the strange exchange and he just tips his hat. He doesn't even think he cares about wanting a snack anymore. He feels he caused a bit of too much of a ruckus as is. That is why he steps over to the register and he just leaves some money. "Sorry for what happened." he says and gives a nod as he soon steps out as well.

He sure isn't following the kid, but he is almost unsure to leave so soon just because he is unsure if the kid would honestly think the Ikari is stalking him. Maybe he is just walking it off. That is hopefully what is going on. That is the last thing he needs the boss to hear. Him getting into some scrap with a teen outside a little convienence store.

Megane waits outside for a moment, calculating his options, and then heads out, albeit not quickly, his hands shoved in his pockets. Although he's interested to see if this guy can fight, he's certainly not going to wait around here and start one. His cover story was a little too over the top this time, and if there's a fight outside, people might start talking.

It looks like the Ikari isn't exactly ready to fight, but he does stop once he steps outside and notices the other guy outside. "Hey, you feeling better?" he asks and offers a faint smile. He still isn't exactly in a great mood either. Now he probably has all sorts of people paranoid of him despite being innocent in this case. In fact he even extends his free hand to offer it for a shake. "Lets try this again. I am Faolan." he says. He is hoping this works or else things might just go further downhill and tha is something he would hope to avoid. "Lets just call it a day and both go home. What do you think, fellah?"

Megane looks down at the hand, blinks, then leans forwards, and whispers, "Megane. But we can't shake hands outside of the store after I said that stuff. Anyways, I took the stuff I really came for, so no hard feelings." Which he didn't. He's just curious to see Faolan's reaction. "I'd like to fight you sometime, you seem like you might have some skill, the way you move. But I don't think a fight here would help either of us out. So, have a good night, and think twice before you start a reputation fight with me again. Now I'm going to say 'get lost, scum' so it looks like the stuff I said in there made a bit of sense."

He wrinkles his nose, and stares at Faolan for a long moment. "Get lost, scum." He shakes his head a little, hands balling into fists, and turns on his heel to walk away.

You know Faolan almost felt bad for stating the Japanese are weird when he was in the store. Instead now he really feels like it might be true. He is left a bit confused and with his hand still extended just a moment. He pulls his hand away and he gives a slight nod. "Uh, someplace more out of the way sometime." is all he manages to finally say in a bit of a hushed tone as he straightens up. This kid is certainly something from what it looks like.

He is glad he left money now since apparently something was stolen anyways. Not like he knows how to contact the kid, but eh. He rather not fight the teen really unless the guy really wants to go out of his way to do so. He just ends up looking slightly flustered as Megane steps away and he turns his back around and starts to walk in another direction. He wasn't even planning on a drink tonight, but a visit to the Duck Pond is sounding better by the moment.
