Gen - Dojo Interruptus

Description: Gen arrives at the Sakazaki dojo with a harsh lesson for Yuri - or perhaps Takuma? Mass chaos ensues, and the elder assassin calls everyone a big fool - while kicking ample quotients of pure ass.

It's another day in the Kyokugen Dojo. Another quiet day albeit, since it seems there are no classes being held today. But that doesn't mean that people can come in to practice if they're students there. Or, if you happen to be the daughter of the master of Kyokugen Karate. Such is the case of Yuri Sakazaki.

While it might be a dojo, that doesn't stop Yuri from sparring in her traditional workout clothes, complete with her favorite Chuck Taylor sneakers and socks over her tights. The brown haired spunky young woman is currently practicing using one of the sparring dummies, using her unique touches to her fighting style that makes it more unique. For now, it seems to be a rather quiet day in the dojo except for Yuri's sparring...

Megane walks in through the entrance, followed by the Neo League camera crew. Which is just a coincidence of timing, but it looks pretty cinematic, right? He pushes his glasses up, glancing around the dojo for anything that might be useable as an improvised weapon if it comes to that. Then his eyes settle on Yuri, and he raises an eyebrow slightly as he sees she's in workout clothes. Well, that's rather practical.

He walks towards the young woman, smiles slightly. "Ready for our match?"

A quiet day at the Kyokugen dojo. Few students to interfere, little besides the pending bout between Yuri and her... little friend, who Gen can only presume is one of the talented schoolkids so common in this part of Japan. Of course, he has only moments to observe this, as he starts things off rather chaotically. From the street which the dojo occupies, Gen walks calmly up to the door, hands folded in front of him, one tucked in each sleeve. Once he reaches the door, however, the old man almost nonchalantly palmstrikes it. Right off its hinges, the portal ripping inward in two pieces, one of which lurches to the side on stressed hinges, whilst its former parter crashes end over end into the dojo's main room.
"You." Pupiless, blank white eyes narrow and study Yuri, "You are his daughter." Those voids track to Megane, then back to Yuri, as Gen's hands lash out to his sides, rapidly disabling the camera hardware in the hands of the shocked crew. "Neither of you is prepared." Gen frounds. Profoundly. As he adopts a wide fighting stance, hands open, fingers curled to strike.

Mr. Rust's finally got a chance to go visit the Kyokugen Dojo after some particularly busy days at work. Finally, some time to himself to actually go check it out, maybe... see if he could get some lessons in. He's not sure how much his pocketbook could take, but, if he's serious about taking up the invitation to the King of Fighters...
The forty-year-old man with his trademark absolutely horrible combover and toolbelt with a length of rusted pipe sticking out about the left side has a good look at the sorts of vehicles parked outside... Neo League camera crews. Huh. Guess they're doing a match in there. He's in the neighborhood, so to speak, so he might as well come watch.
He just misses the dramatic entrance by Gen into the Kyokugen dojo. A couple moments later he's at the front steps and staring down at the door. He kind of hopes he didn't just wander in the middle of a match, though, it seems the door's broken /in/ and not /out/. He politely bends down, his knees protesting with the movement with an obnoxious popping noise, to move the door pieces aside.
He is entirely oblivious to what sort of spectacle is going on just a ways ahead of him.

Almost immediately, Yuri does a jumping spin around and looks at Megane, and grins widely. "Oh, you're already here?" She asks happily. "This is gonna be soooooooo awesome! I've always wanted to have a Neo League match in the Kyokugen Dojo! Now the world will finally get to see the awesomeness of Kyokugen--"

Yuri is cut off by the crashing sound and the door being broken by Gen. Almost immediately, she spins towards the door, and after noticing the door being broken, she looks up at Gen and glares daggers at him. "Hey you! Who do you think you are coming in here and breaking our doors like that?! You know you can't just do that! My father is gonna be mad at you!" She pauses as Gen mentions being 'his' daughter, and almost immediately she realizes he's talking about her father. "What about my father? What did he ever do to you?!"

She doesn't notice Rust for the time being. Instead, she focuses on Gen. "I don't care what YOU say! You can't just bust in here like that, no matter what your reason is! Get out before we kick your butt good!"

Megane stares at Yuri's excitement without emotion.

And then, Gen comes in and starts wrecking cameras. He looks around - is this some version of fighting candid camera? He's never heard of that. Better assume this guy is here to do something.

"Hey. Let's postpone our fight until the cameras are working, shall we, Miss Sakazaki?" He steps between Yuri and Gen, hands at his side, relaxed, his eyes fixed on Gen. It's not hard to tell from this guy's camera-destroying moves that he's way better than Megane, and he slowly lets out his breath, a bit of sweat standing out on his face. "I don't know what's up with that attitude, old man. Why don't we sit down and talk this out before you hurt yourself?" If this guy only attacks Yuri, it's going to be harder to learn from his skill.

COMBATSYS: Megane calculates his next move.

"What /doesn't/ he do?" Gen retorts, snorting at Yuri's defiant query. "Really now, you think dolling around like spoiled idiots for cameras is going to prepare you? You've /no/ idea." The dry, droll declaration is amended in his own, "We will speak... with our actions!" Gen offers to Megane, apparently not keen on sitting down for a spot of tea, just now, "You will be lucky if only your dojo's door is destroyed this day, Yuri Sakazaki." It's punctuated by action.
The elder assassin all but teleports the distance between himself and Yuri, rushing at a rate that probably should not be possible for a fellow his apparent age. A clenched fist flexes, tremors run up to that hand from a source somewhere within, and he launches outward from the elbow with a backhanded strike aligned squarely in an attempt to brusquely smack Yuri across the face.

COMBATSYS: Gen successfully hits Yuri with Weakened Quick Punch.

Yuri's squeaky voice is impossible to miss, especially when she's angry and shouting at someone. The shop teacher looks up from the removal of the busted door bits to just toss them somewhere out of the way so that nobody trips on it or anything like that. You know. Being considerate, and all that.
"Huh?" He stares a little dumbfounded at the scene, pretty sure he recognizes the back of that older guy... oh yeah, the restaurant chef. He scratches the side of his head with his left hand. What could this possibly be about, anyway?
He strongly doubts that old guy's unreasonable. Poor Howard Rust, he's lived in Southtown this long and yet he has yet to truly experience, first hand, the taste of being in the crossfire of bitter dojo rivalry - the favored pastime of the more established martial arts schools in Southtown.
He's never seen Megane before, but he nods his head a little at what he says. Sounds like a perfectly reasonable young man to him. Or woman? Nah, sounds like a man.
"Uhh... hey, uh, I hope I'm not interrupting anything here," he tries to speak up as he foolishly draws closer to the battle-ready trio as he withdraws the brochure he received from that public demonstration that Yuri held some time back with his left hand, "is, ah, Takuma Sakazaki he--"
In that instant, Gen goes on the offense with his intent against Yuri, his brow narrowing a little. He's the guy who broke that door down? He's not sure what to think of all of it, but, it probably doesn't concern him in the big picture of things he gathers.
In what might be about the worst idea he could think of, he tries to walk a ways past Gen from behind in hopes of finding Takuma and maybe squaring some things out. Being this close, with his footsteps as heavy as they are and his joints being as prone to complain as they will, this may simply be construed as someone trying to approach Gen entirely from behind for an ambush.

Yuri is backhanded by the old man, and that sends her staggering backwards quite a bit and even leaves a mark on her face. But it doesn't weaken her or make her cry like a baby. Instead, once she recovers, she angrily stares at Gen and says, "You old geezer! I don't know why you're attacking me, but I'm gonna make you regret what you did to me!"

With that, Yuri steps forward just a little, getting some distance between herself and Gen, but not too close. Instead, she then brings one of her arms behind her and then thrusts forward a blast of chi, almost like a fireball, but with less distance.

...Now there's some other guy moving forwards? Maybe a fighter? But he doesn't sense fighting intent from him, so he can't pay attention to him right now. He has to focus on Gen.

Megane's eyes widen as he realizes that Gen just went past him half a second ago.
As Yuri calls out that she's going to make Gen regret attacking her, Megane whirls around, so right when she's throwing a blast of chi, he's aiming a kick at the older man's stomach. His foot would just skim him, if it was just a kick, but the blade of wind that goes with it slices out farther.

"Threats cannot make up for preparation!" Gen shoots back at Yuri, darkly cheerful about it. It's about that moment that the two-pronged assault is launched. Gen doesn't so much as flinch in Rust's direction, though it may be wise not to assume the shop teacher is under the radar. Still, the legendary assassin's focus remains on the pair of young fighters. Yuri's blast of chi is met by a thrusting palm, fingers bent in as far as they will go, thumb angled over them. The hard palmstrike seems to meet the fireball before it actually meets it, invisible energy clashing with the luminescent fire of the youngest Sakazaki's blast. In the end, which is instants, that energy all washes down /around/ Gen's arm in a spiral pattern, vanishing without a trace.
In the half-blink between Megane reaching him and this instant, Gen suddenly shifts form, stance widening, then launching him upwards. It's a short, abrupt leap, that brings him only high enough for the diminutive man to draw his deadly legs up, and kick off the flare of energy that accompanies the passage of Megane's foot. The Gedo brawler would then be treated to a very good, if very brief view of Gen's feet. One, as one foot almost touches down on Megane's own leg. Two, as the other snaps around, the old master wheeling about in midair with a gleeful chortle.

The teacher throws a hand up as Yuri yells and lets out a blast of chi - he's actually maybe too close to this fight so he does flinch just being within its proximity, trying to shield his eyes a bit while the other guy leaps past Gen (and comes uncomfortably close to Rust, in fact).
"Whoa!" He calls as Megane comes in a bit close. In choosing to hurry on his way instead of stopping to watch the fight, he misses out on some truly amazing displays of mastery in warding off both assaults, beyond a few flecks of chi luminescence getting past Gen's block and vanishing just before Rust's face.
The stuff that Neo League highlight reels are made of. If only their cameras worked.
He himself makes the mistake of blinking as a momentary spectator, turning around just in time to watch Gen try and come down upon the Gedo fighter.
Come to think of it, that old guy looked like someone he saw on TV a while back in competition. Could it be him? He rolls his shoulder a bit and squints, but doesn't take more than a step back as he watches.
He really ought to take a couple more steps back.

"Threats?! I'm not making threats! I'm telling you what's gonna happen if you don't get out of this dojo!" Yuri shouts with a scowl. "You have no right being in here!" The girl's scowl only grows deeper as she watches her attack get deflected with no effort on Gen's part. Angered, but not fazed, Yuri decides to take a moment to try to catch Gen off-guard. Not easy, but she's hoping for an attempt to get Gen.

When she thinks she has the ability to do so, she attempts to deliver a swift jab.

Megane sees the movement of the feet, and in an instant, the perfect reaction comes to him. He just has to block the leg with both hands, twist around, and throw Gen towards the floor. He just has to be strong enough to hold on for half a second, and do it before Gen reacts to it.

As he begins to move his hands upwards, he begins to realize that he's already flying through the air, and his head hurts something fierce. His body slams into the wall next to the entrance, and he stares for a moment, dazed, as he crumples down into a sitting position.

HSuddenly, his eyes narrow. "Miss Sakazaki, try to get your father. Run for your life." He picks up a piece of shattered door lying beside him - one of the bits of wooden frame - and hurls it at Gen as he staggers to his feet. Maybe it will distract him for half a second. "Otherwise, you'll likely die."

Jab meets hardened hand, slamming into the reinforced guard offered by the mysterious assassin with a dull thud, force absorbed readily into the deceptive might of that old appendage. "You have a poor grasp of the present." Gen observes, as a hunk of door cracks into his back, staggering the old man one step to the left... and promptly righting himself. More resilient than one might expect of a tiny Chinese chef, that's for certain. "And the future."
Gen's stance recovered, both hands claw in for Yuri's gi. Should he find his grip, he would yank her forward off balance, and abruptly kick her knees out from under her, in a fashion decidedly not in accordance with the way that joint is supposed to bend. "Your friend has the better of it - smarter would have been to run, to get father, brother, someone with /skill/!" Still, Rust is ignored, allowed to find his own place - with or without the guidance of the other fighters.

It's a pretty one-sided bout from the looks of things, Howard over there wincing not only at the sound of Yuri's voice screaming, but that kid hitting the wall there... oooh, that didn't look good at all. That guy right there, Gen, he's the real deal all right. Megane there seems to make it seem like a life and death thing, at which point the dramatizing gets the middle-aged man to speak up.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa." He clears his throat. "I doubt he's actually here to kill you, that guy?" He gestures with a thumb over to Gen, so greatly unaware of that man's past history. That man's true present occupations. His past, his aims. All he knows him for is being an amazing cook with some crazy martial arts ability.
His right hand instinctively rests on Ol' Rusty. It's a reflex that he never really checks all too well, even when he doesn't have much of an aggressive intent in any of this. It is as though deep down at his core, at the fiber of his very being, he knows when the fight is at hand, when it's close. When it's time to draw and fight back.
The rest of him seems blissfully unaware of this reflex, even as the right hand rests atop Ol' Rusty.

"Hah, I knew it!"

A familiar voice, if anything. At least to Gen. Perhaps just some annoying young fan who just can't keep his mouth shut - but Gen isn't that well known, is he? Perhaps he's an avid Kyokugen Dojo member or supporter. Or perhaps he expected foul play of some kind! Either way...

"You old geezer, you weren't her gramps anyways!"

A poof of smoke in the midst of the room erupts from nowhere - perhaps Hokutomaru saw the /brutal strike/ to Angel, or perhaps he just saw her sleeping - or perhaps he just didn't trust him! After all, Angel was pretty straightforwards but...

He /obviously/ wasn't just some old guy!

As the poof of smoke clears, the charred frame of a somewhat diminutive, monkey like boy, blinks. Coughing once, he shakes himself off, already in a lowered stance. As Rust speaks, he answers - if if it wasn't to him!

"Doesn't matter, now he has to deal with me too! I can't just let this Geezer get away with it!"

Maybe Gen just didn't buy his 'granddaughter' some ice cream.

The rather large stick is grasped on his back as he - vanishes! And then appears in the air, behind Gen, swinging for his head!

Kicking someone in the knees is a dirty tactic. A very dirty tactic. In fact, Yuri can't believe that she's being hit like this. She's kicked and is knocked onto the ground, lying on her side with her kneecaps knocked out of position. Moaning loudly, Yuri doesn't try to get up. Instead, she looks up and glares at Gen.

"Just what kind... of a martial artist... are you?!" Yuri asks, trying not to let the pain get the best of her. Still, it's obvious that the pain is greater than one might think. After all, being kicked in the kneecaps hurts like hell. Yuri doesn't try to get up, instead using her position to try to rest and regain some of her strength.

"He's definitely trying to kill her." Megane doesn't know if this is true. But, this should either get the guy to run or help them out. Right?

Most of the camera crew have scattered. Which leaves their equipment, still by the door. Most of the actual cameras are mangled, but...

Megane kicks a tripod up into his hands. He can't fight this guy decently unarmed, and he doesn't think grapping seems like a good idea. Maybe the bit of reach will give him the reaction time he needs.

He rushes towards Gen's back with the tripod collapsed, and jumps into the air so he'll make less sound. He swings the end with three poles together towards the older man, switching a lever further up as he swings, so that the three poles spread out in mid-swing.

"The kind quite capable of killing the lot of you at my whim." Gen retorts dryly, and it's impossible to say he's /not/ dead serious about it, it's true. Even so, if it is true, they're all still alive. So far, at least. "Stop crying, stand up and face your poor decision making!" The legendary assassin further verbally assaults Yuri, as Hokutomaru and Megane move to assault him. The tripod draws an arch of one white eyebrow, not even fully turning his head as he searches the periphery of his vision for the Gedo brawler's coming. Over the swing Gen goes in a swift, short cartwheeling flip, landing on the other side. As the littlest ninja appears above him.
CRACK. That stick crashes into Gen's resilient skull, and drops the old master to the ground. He falls to one knee, and forward onto one hand. Could Hokutomaru have saved the day? ... not yet. Blank eyes snap up to lock onto the young ninja, "Fools. Your failure shall blossom like a thousand cherry trees!" Then he lashes out at the landing little ninja. Both hands thrust in that same closed palmstrike that defended against the Ko'ou ken. They don't /quite/ strike Hokutomaru, but unless he finds a defense quickly, that's not how it /feels/. Energy within him would rupture and twist, chakras venting pain and destruction outwards, disorientation and bleeding possible. Side effects include nausea, upset stomach, liver damage, and increased thoughts of suicide.
This would be abruptly followed in the same series with a backhanded crack for the side of Hokutomaru's skull. Under other circumstances, this would be the moment to snap the neck, rather than simply seeking to batter one's opponent to the ground.

"Huh?!" Rust's taken aback when some other youngster's voice fills the dojo. He coughs when the poof of smoke happens, clearing smoke away from his face as the little ninja makes his stance clear.
Yuri reeling in pain and looking about ready to be out of it is a striking image, too... but then again she bounced up from looking all bloodied after he kicked a whole lot of crap out of her and had a happy sip of water so he doesn't know if Yuri there is overacting the pain and is about to bounce up and be all 'psyche' or what.
Megane seems ever firm on his opinion of the whole matter, and Rust - in another particularly bad choice of action - edges along closer to Yuri. The loud sound of something cracking is definitely something a bit disconcerting, but it does give him space to go over and try to help Yuri back up to her feet.
"Whoa, hey," the shop teacher clears his voice, perhaps underestimating the gravity of what Gen is trying to tell the lot of the young crowd. Yuri, however, does seem incredibly hurt. "I dunno what, what any of this is about, all right? But I think she's... she's done."
He reaches out with both hands to try and help Yuri up to her feet. "Uh, can you walk?" He asks of her as he looks back every so often at the exchange going on between Gen and Hokutomaru.

"Bad decisions?!" Yuri says as she gets back to her feet. "You're the one who made the stupid decision of barging in here like you own this place, you stupid beatnik!" Yuri shouts at Gen. "I don't care who you are, or that you're using cheap shots on me, but we don't want you in this dojo!" Yuri manages to get onto her feet, and despite the pain in her knees, she somehow manages to keep herself from buckling and falling over as she gets back into her fighting stance.

"I don't go down that easily!" Yuri snaps, before rushing at Gen and attempting to deliver her own version of a dragon punch.

Striking the master in the back, Hokutomaru lands, the rather large stick swung about, placed back onto his back. It's useful for swinging at things, but it's certainly not useful for when things come at /him/. Especially palmed strikes that move at breakneck speeds that don't, exactly, strike the boy.

Instinctively Hokutomaru is already on the defensive. With quick reflexes, his arms are already up, the gloves moving to block the palm strikes - but it's not that that crashes past it. Though no strike is made, the plucky young ninja crashes into the wall, feeling far, far less well. He feels weird - almost sick to his stomach, and the forearms bruised - despite the lack of physicla contact.

"Yeah you may be capable of it...," Hoku grins, "But it's not like that's going to happen!"

That /hurt/. Failure isn't the only thing that blossoms, so does the pain - but Hokutomaru isn't the most intelligent. Oh, he knows this old Geezer can do /way more/ but... that doesn't influence his interests to not keep rushing head first in!

Dashing across the mats towards Gen, the smallest ninja leaps into the air - his arms are a bit sore still, but that doesn't mean he can't fight! The leap is just a ploy, as he hits the ground, sliding against it, attempting to make the old man kneel again for him!

"Don't worry, he's not going to kill any of us! It won't happen!" He seems certain.

Megane frowns slightly. "No doubt your skills are impressive. But I'm beginning to wonder why you're wasting them on us. Do you really hate Sakazaki that much?"

He's is about to just throw the tripod at Gen, but that doesn't seem like a good idea now that his two seeming allies are attacking the man straight on. Okay, midsection covered, low kick covered. Megane runs up alongside Hokutomaru, and plants the tripod on the ground, vaulting into the air with it to aim a kick at the side of Gen's head.

"Barging in like I intended to destroy everyone inside." Gen corrects, not entirely patiently. "There are many purposes to which one might target the Kyokugen princess." Is the only offering, at the moment, as to his motivations however. Rust's peacemaking draws a chuckle from the blank-eyed assassin, "Clearly, she's not." The trio come in, and Gen moves out. Yuri and Megane are left to avoid colliding with one another as she uppercuts high, and he leaps in fast. Hokutomaru, meanwhile, slides under the entire affair while Gen... Gen rolls clear, tumbling like a tractor tire end over end and coming up on his feet with a little flip.
"I only sought to waste my time with /her/." Gen observes, indicating Yuri with a nod of his head, "But nooo, each and every one of you is a giant incredible hero." There's a mocking tone to that, before Gen comes up one one foot, then lunges forward, straight in on Megane. Two fingers are extended from a tight fist, and it's these penetrating digits that now seek to do harm. He strikes low, high, low, targetting individual ribs rather than vital organs on the low thrusts, and collarbone rather than throat on the high. Maybe no one is dying. Maybe he just intends to kill them slowly.

And there Yuri goes like a rocket then, looking like she's seriously out of the fight only to defiantly seem to pretend whatever just happened... didn't. The middle-aged man just scratches the side of his head at the sight of it all.
The little kid reassures that nobody's going to be killing anyone although Mr. Rust wonders if it is, in fact, possible to kill the youngest Sakazaki given her aptitude for bouncing back after a big hit like that.
"Hey!" He calls out to Yuri with an outstretched hand as Gen chuckles about how she's not out of the fight. Well, if she's fine, she's fine. Megane brings up the possibility that the old man's skills are being wasted on the lot of them. Could that be true?
It really is amazing to watch the old man move, for everything he's able to catch in between blinks. His right hand tenses in a way that it normally cannot, following the injury it sustained during the invasion of Southtown. His palm rests upon Ol' Rusty again.
This time, he takes note of it. He's not sure what it is, for a man with such deadly skill and precision scaring his opponents into believing he is there for their death or some such. Old memories come back of that one fight he had with Antoine's master back in his twenties.
He wants a shot. His fingers twitch.
"Yeah, uh, now's... now's not the best time to ask, but," he tries to speak above the shouts and kiais people are undoubtedly making, "can I call next?"
He parts his legs a bit and leans forward as he draws Ol' Rusty out of the toolbelt in a surprisingly smooth motion. Well, not completely. His right elbow creaks some, it gives it a bit of a jarring motion.

COMBATSYS: Rust focuses on his next action.

As Gen rolls away, Hokutomaru kicks off the ground, flipping once as she stumbles to a stop, using the side of the dojo as a way to stop and control himself. As he comes to a stop, he twists back, looking at Gen.

"Hah, just because I want to do something good doesn't mean you've got to call me that!"

Rubbing his nose, the kid looks over to Rust. "You sure you're okay with him next? You look kinda tired. I'm sure we got him!"

He may be wrong, but Hokutomaru never backs down when he says something - oh it was for the girl? Gen really /really/ must be interested in the ladies. Dashing forwards, Hokutomaru wastes no time to go back to harassing Gen - and he does mean harassing. The monkey boy leaps at Gen's back, trying to wrap his arms around the guy and squeeze! Just to make it harder. Weight training! Sort of.

"Why do you want to destroy us?!" Yuri screams loudly. "What did we ever do to you?" The girl's adrenaline seems to be making her forget about the pain in her knees, although it does show occasionally. "You have no right to be in this dojo, you ugly beatnik!" Now Yuri's really mad it seems.

"I'm gonna make you regret what you did!" Yuri then rushes somehow at Gen, attempting to grab him and rapidly slap him in the face. Yeah, it's a real stupid move, indeed. But when Yuri gets mad, she loses control of her common sense. Then again, she doesn't always have common sense!

So I have two reasons to fight you, and no reasons to stand by." Besides, you know, dying. But Megane doesn't think Gen's going to go out of his way to kill him, and he think's he'll survive at least one more attack from him. "

And then Gen strikes him repeatedly, hitting various bones, and Megane falls down to his knees, putting a hand on the floor to support himself. He looks back up at Gen, eyes narrowed, and moves his arm a little to make sure it still works, wincing.

"Right. Hmph." Gen dismisses Yuri's protest with a wave of one hand, "The good you would accomplish is only more death. Destiny is only grand when it is fulfilled in its proper turn - else it implodes. Into metaphor." Away from Hokutomaru's choking leap, into Yuri's slap-happy rage. The youngest Sakazaki strike's Gen across the face, and it's then that he strikes her back. One leg carries a forward lunge, the other back, and wide. A stable foundation for what comes next. Perpendicular to his body, a clenched fist that rips through the air more like a bowling ball being heaved strikes upwards in a brutal, singular uppercut, cleaving Yuri back away from him.
The legendary assassin steps away from Yuri, holding a ready stance, perched deceptively stably on one foot with his hands coiled to strike, Gen observes, "Not a one of you is ready. Until you stop playing petty games and look inward, you will always fail in the end!" Grunting, Gen gestures Rust on, "May as well, most of these are..." Gen just shrugs.

She's now bloodied and bruised, and barely even able to keep one of her eyes open. In fact, the crumpled heap on the dojo floor that happens to be Yuri Sakazaki looks like she should be in an emergency room or in a casket right now. But somehow, Yuri keeps herself going as she struggles to get to one foot. But don't forget her knees are still weakened, and the pain is killing her like you wouldn't believe. Still, as long as she can still get back to her feet, she still intends to keep fighting.

"You.... you...." Yuri mutters. "You are...." Yuri slowly brings her arms back and says, "You are........" And then she brings her arms forward and sends forth a blast of energy as she screams, "YOU ARE GONNA DIE FOR THIS!"

COMBATSYS: Yuri can no longer fight.

"Me?" He asks as Hokutomaru asks him. "Ahh. Long day. Long day." He clears his throat. "No longer 'n, 'n usual." His voice does tend to carry at least some hint of fatigue behind it. Most of the time he needs to do some yelling in class. That wreaks hell on your throat when you do enough of it.
Yuri's still angry sounding and... uh, let's face it, it's not pretty what happens to her after the fact. Megane keeps the dramatics up - Mr. Rust really isn't sure what's with the busted cameras here, did Gen really do that? Hell, he doesn't know much of what's going on here.
He came to see Takuma and maybe get in on the Kyokugen thing. For all he cares that guy might be watching. Might as well leave a good first impression once Gen's ready - at which point he gives the apparent signal. He bows his head briefly and respectfully enough even in the wake of Yuri screaming bloody murder and firing off a giant energy burst. It's that same energy burst that knocked him flat on his ass not long ago.
Clearing his throat, he draws closer to Gen as Yuri's apparent fall may or may not signal that, for whatever counts as a 'turn' in the grand scheme of things, it is his. His movements are slow, a bit stiff. He should not be difficult to read for a man with decades - possibly even nearly a century - of experience under their belt.
As the teacher draws near, he rears back his head in what is probably the most tell-tale sign one can give, made all the more evident when he throws his head forward - horrid combover first - somewhere towards Gen's position with enough force that the forward swing of his head carries him a bit in that direction, boots sliding against the wooden floor with a noisy sound.

"Grrrr... What are you even saying!"

Gen's words might be wise, but Hokutomaru lacks the understanding! Gen seems to be certain it'll pierce their heads and make sense, but it certainly isn't to Hokutomaru. Especially not as he actively lands from his failed assault. Of course, that's when Gen slams Yuri like she has ( possibly ) never been slammed before. The Hokutomaru almost stares, eyes never leaving the target as she's uppercutted away.

What's worse is his /words/ right after it. A hand is raised, grasping at nothing as Hokutomaru shakes it!

But then he stops, dumbfounded. "Not ready? I'm ready for anything!" He turns to Rust as he answers, "Guess with this guy it'll be longer, huh?" Hokutomaru grins, taking a single bladed object out of nowhere as he leaps.

Blade after sharp blade is tossed towards Gen - but they're not small, and he's apparently pulling them from nowhere.

"But all that matters is you came in here and beat up a girl! What would your granddaughter think!" It's not very nice!

Megane has the sneaking suspicion that what Gen said to Yuri didn't, in fact, make sense. Maybe you need to be a martial arts master to understand it. He attempts to reflect inwards, and realizes Yuri Sakazaki is... surprisingly bloodthirsty. This is her dojo, but she seemed so cheerful earlier.

But this isn't going to stop him from trying to do something, it's not like he has a particular problem trying to protect bloodthirsty people, although he's beginning to wonder if he's able to do anything. Can't think like that, though. He lunges to one side, falling to the ground, and hurls his hands out, letting a huge slice of wind energy towards Gen, angled upwards so it at least shouldn't hit anyone else if he misses.

The crackling, voluminous sphere of electric-charged chi rips into Gen where he stands, a flexing elbow and forearm driving back into the overcharged projectile. Energy rips up his arm, courses painfully into muscle, but the old master holds his ground, grits his teeth, and eventually it's the electrified power that gives way, surging outwards. In the same motion, Gen twists, facing Megane and thrusting that defensively flexed forearm down and around in an arc that bisects the Gedo brawler's blast. Again, energy ripples, surges in a vortex around Gen's arm, dissipating with nary a trace, lingering crackles of electricity joining the breeze left in the air.
The legendary assassin weaves hither and fro as he's surrounded by whipping blades, twisting - turning - ducking - leaping. Always just a hair's breadth ahead of the next sharp object. It's a dance that leads into a twist as Rust rushes into the opening, facing the shop teacher sidelong then sliding back, as if the floor were ice, momentarily clear of the fray. The next moment, however, he's back in on Rust, launching an open palmstrike that impacts more with a resounding force than a physical one, an invisible shockwave aligned for Rust's center of mass, to blast him away with the stroke. Interjected, however, is a far calmer, "Takuma's training program is adequate, it would serve you well also."

Unfortunately, no sooner has Yuri finished sending her attack at Gen, then her knees buckle again. And this time, when she hits the ground, she doesn't get back up. She looks up briefly to give Gen one last glare, before dropping to the ground and closing her eyes once again. Yet, the scowl on her face and her clenched fists indicates that even when she's defeated, she refuses to give up. In fact, if one looks closely, they'll find that Yuri's shaking a little as if she's trying to get over the pain she's in.

But it's no use. Yuri's out like a light, fallen victim to the old man known as Gen, whom she has no idea why he's here and attacking her. But she does know that next time they meet, it's really gonna be personal. Of course, she won't be alone in her battle. She'll be sure to bring backup with her. For now, though, all that goes through Yuri's mind is pretty much a blank, since she's out cold... albeit with an angry scowl and her clenched fists.

If he was in the state to have a full conversation, man oh man, Howard Rust here would be able to tell Hokutomaru a whole many stories about young girls coming out of nowhere to beat the ever living piss out of him (and, usually, rather successfully). Here in Southtown, they're almost all pretty dangerous. Being Southtown, almost everyone is in some form another, really. If they can't fight themselves, they know someone who can.
The various assaults join together and, ultimately, seem to come up short - which is made all the more obvious when the bisected blast blows about that absolutely unconvincing hairdo in its weakened wake, to say nothing of the shuriken that, in missing Gen, is summarily headbutted into a nearby wall with hardly much notice on the shop teacher's part.
He catches glimpse of Gen out of the corner of his right eye. In fact, Gen's coming towards the side where he wields Ol' Rusty from. Though he holds Ol' Rusty in his right hand, it is almost always his left arm he prefers to block with. Gen's incoming speed does not give him much choice in the matter.
A hiss of clenched teeth, he spreads his legs apart a bit more and lowers his stance as his right elbow moves to catch the palm strike. It's a very strange sensation, what goes through him. The palm itself is nothing, hardly more than a friendly pat in the back. It's how it all echoes and reverbs through him, whatever it is, that makes his teeth chatter and his knees shake, as though he were losing resolve from a single blow.
Hardly - he ultimately holds his ground without being blasted away, fighting to shake out the stiffness inherent in his right arm and, well, pretty much everywhere after the fact in a cacophony of disconcerting joint pops.
"Th-that's what I'm hoping for," he replies in a low tone of voice as he struggles to work up the clearance in his stiff, all but locked-up left shoulder and elbow to throw an elbow strike somewhere in Gen's direction, pointing Ol' Rusty down and away for reasons not immediately clear.

Ah! How fast /is/ this guy! It looks like Hokutomaru's first attempt at striking for the guy was entirely out of luck - or surprise! He just can't believe how the guy moves between each and every blade. Perfectly avoiding every last one of his oversized shurikens!

"Wow, for a geezer you're pretty fast! Thought it'd be easier than that."

Despite seeing how he bears down on Rust after Yuri, Hokutomaru isn't, still, interested in backing off. Infact, he's just leaping straight towards Gen, trying to grasp an arm and pull him towards the ground, as silly as it may seem. Weight and gravity works in very nice ways!

"Hah, I don't need any training from whoever Takuma is, I've got enough from Andy Bogard!"

He is, after all, his student. Clearly Gen'll know that /important/ name. And he'll remember it too, once Hokutomaru gets him to faceplant into the Kyokugen dojo!

Megane looks from Rust, to Hokutomaru, to Gen, and then to Yuri's unconcious body on the floor. He takes a deep breath, and slowly stands up.

"It's been nice fighting alongside you two. But we can't let this crazy old guy win. I'll be counting on you in the next few seconds." He pushes his glasses back on his nose as his eyes flit around to read the situation once again.

He rushes towards where the three are fighting, then turns, kneels, grabs ahold of Yuri, throws her over his shoulder, and runs towards the door.

It's liable to be quite a feat to be Takuma and need to deal with Yuri regarding Gen, just now. The old master smiles wryly to himself, more than anything, and it only broadens as Megane stoops to retrieve Yuri, seeking to remove her, valiantly, from the battlefield. "They still think I'm here to kill her!" He half-whispers aside to Rust, a little bit gleefully. However, the legendary assassin hasn't let his guard drop. Instead of landing on Gen, Hokutomaru suddenly finds that VERY spry old man standing on /him/. For about a half-second. Gen leapfrogs, apparently, to the littlest ninja's shoulder, then flips off, light as a feather.
The old master lands in Rust's charge, a palm meeting the elbow. It drives him back, stings a moment, but then Gen's hand has tightened on the appendage. He drags the shop teacher forward faster, far more forcefully than might have been intended. Drawing back into a coiled crouch in the same motion, the low-stanced shadow boss slams a taut fist back out, reaving across Rust's torso and sending him right back the other way. "Your training is incomplete. Your understanding... limited!" Gen argues to Hokutomaru, "But you have time yet. Assuming you survive."

The teacher's not sure what to say about that, he just walked in here expecting to see Takuma Sakazaki and, all of a sudden, now he's part of the fray. When the elbow meets the palm, Rust thinks for a split second - in error - that it's a mere block and that's that, he pulls Ol' Rusty back a little to prepare a swing.
He should have known that initial palm from the first exchange was but a mere taste. When the grip tightens, it's enough that even Howard Rust, larger and thicker than Gen, actually feels it - he gasps once for that, letting air out of his lungs for that exclamation. The rest of the air he's got in there follows when he's dragged forward off his feet before he can correct himself and, in a moment of imbalance, takes the shot to the gut like a sledgehammer to... well, not a watermelon. Maybe an old wooden safe.
"GWOHAH!" He bellows in pain as he is right off his feet, skidding on his behind and hitting the wall handily enough to make cracks. He stares out to the battle blearily, giving Gen ample time to give his sage advice about Hokutomaru's training.
"I'm, ah, I'm still good." The man clears his throat as he tries to stomach the pain in his, well, everything. There's enough distance between the two that Rust can't conceivably run back up to Gen within the next few moments and get back in striking range.
Unless Gen himself, of course, chooses to close the gap as the Pacific teacher goes off in a pathetically slow jog, fighting the stiffness in one of his knees still after that fact.

As Hokutomaru grasps towards him - Gen leapfrogs right /off him/. It's a surprise and a half! The little monkey ninja just doesn't expect it!

"Wha!? But you're supposed to be heavier than that! How'd you do that!?"

Coming to a landing on the other side of the dojo, his leap not even interrupted in the slightest, Hokutomaru rubs his shoulder, tilts his head, and then looks back up at Gen - who is currently dragging the man and slamming a fist against him. Poor, poor Rust.

"Of course it's not done yet, I'm still working on it! But that doesn't mean I can't fight! And survive?" The monkey ninja laughs, arms at his hips as he leans backwards, "Bahahaha! I'm not going to die anytime soon!" He's sure of it. "Good thing you're good old man - I'm not done either!"

Taking this to heart, Hokutomaru dashes towards Gen once more, ducking as he moves closer - kicking off the ground before leaping into the air, spinning forwards in some sort of screw driver kick!

It's ... not very fast. But it's stylish, as the scarf makes it seem red!

Megane keeps running. Maybe to a hospital. And hey! He doesn't feel someone kicking him in the head, or suddenly lose conciousness! Either those two are better able to handle that old martial arts master, or he didn't really want to kill or kidnap her that much. Right now, though, his curiousity is not getting the better of him. "You're missing the point entirely." Gen offers with a frown, as Rust moves to take his leave. Expression shifts to mildly amused watching the unnerved teacher retreat - still an interesting one, indeed. Gen doesn't move to stop anyone from leaving, no. Perhaps he's curious about the others -AND- didn't really care to kill Yuri. Still, it's a rather harsh hazing, regardless of intent. Such is the life of some crotchety folks. "For one, it /is/ done." Hokutomaru stands alone, valiantly, arguably foolishly, launching back in on Gen.
And for a moment, while everyone else turns their backs, the smallest ninja gets a glimpse. Gen doesn't restrain the strike, he gives the taste of what the ninja is - perhaps unknowingly - seeking. Fingertips shoot out, countless times, all but simultaneously. One hand coiled at his side, the other strikes as if seeking to hit Andy Bogard's disciple almost everywhere. Key points. Nerve clusters. Chakras. Conduits of chi. What was threatened earlier would be a far more complete breakdown, now. A technique that might fall only a few small strokes from utterly snuffing out Hokutomaru, after all.

"You're missing the point entirely." Gen offers with a frown, as Rust moves to take his leave. Expression shifts to mildly amused watching the unnerved teacher retreat - still an interesting one, indeed. Gen doesn't move to stop anyone from leaving, no - doesn't pursue Megane. Perhaps he's curious about the others -AND- didn't really care to kill Yuri. Still, it's a rather harsh hazing, regardless of intent. Such is the life of some crotchety folks. "For one, it /is/ done." Hokutomaru stands alone for a moment, valiantly, arguably foolishly, launching back in on Gen. It all happens in the span of a blink. Hokutomaru rockets in, and Gen leaps upwards and away. He inverts, flying a short distance vertically and landing back in front of Hokutomaru as if he'd barely stepped away. Then he strikes.
And for a moment, while everyone else is holding back, the smallest ninja gets a glimpse.

Rust's not leaving, he's having a hard time catching up in that short span of time. It's a good vantage point to watch how the exchange between that little kid and Gen is going. The actions that happen in a blink just seem to /have/ to happen during a time where Rust blinks, which is perhaps why the speed of which what transpires is likely being based on how long it takes for him to blink.
All Mr. Rust sees, to show the great difference in speed between his comprehension and Gen's skill, is Gen... pointing at the kid. He only sees the pointing once, but even then it's hard to see from his closing vantage point.
Unaware of what sorts of power Gen is channeling through the boy, not able to comprehend what's going on as someone looking in and not /being/ in, he does what he can to get back in the fight after being nearly launched straight out of it.
He takes to the air in a completely unimpressive, low leap as he chances an extended left leg towards Gen's position in, at least, a thoughtful angle that should put him a ways past Hokutomaru and not into him.
That may or may not have been all the thought he actually seriously put into said assault.

The charge towards Gen is not all too surprising. Hokutomaru makes very little good decisions involving actual ninja capabilities in battle - especially as Gen might see. If there's training to be involved, it's learning how to use the skills he has for more than 'whatever he feels like at the time'.

The spinning strike is not caught, but yet, it is.

In the time things begin to happen, Hokutomaru can see things slow down, nearly freeze, as the first nerves are struck. Fingertips shoot out as if they were bullets, and he feels every last strike. He can only imagine Gen's intent /was/ to make sure he felt every last strike.

When things speed up, Hokutaru's intending landing is a flop against the floors of the Dojo, his body hitting it in a very clumsy way, sprawling out. He presses against the floor, hands struggling to push off his small frame.

"It's not..."

The boy hacks, coughing as he tries to get a full breath in - the pain flaring up, threatening to stop his ability to even fight back. But despite that pain, he gulps the air down, gasping as he gets to his knees.

"It's not ... over.."

He staggers to his feet, Hokutomaru's scarf swaying as he looks down, and not at Gen yet. Every little movement is pain - his chi flows freely, his muscles and nerves toyed with. It's all, together, terrible for the boy.

"Because I'm not giving up!" His head snaps forwards, eyes burning in determination, and a grin to boot. "There's nothing you can do that'll keep me down!" He rubs his mouth a bit, a small stream of blood wiped away, to prevent Rust from knowing just how bad he has it.

His hands clasp together, a ninja sign, before a massive smoke cloud swallows him, obscuring vision. Moments later, he erupts forth, the stick glowing, coated in chi, as he barrels towards Gen, chi leaking uncontrollably off him - but he still fights its effects, his body slowly drained of strength.

One thing is certain about Hokutomaru: the little fellow is determined. To stand at all, even if Gen isn't quite buying it stability, is impressive enough. As Rust leaps heedless into the fray once more, the legendary assassin steps in on the smallest ninja once more. Not to injure him further, this time - but to catch that chi-laden assault as Hokutomaru appears. He shoves harshly, moving them both momentarily out of Rust's way, leaving the shop teacher to land clear of Gen. "Your Sifu should have taught you..." Gen observes, locked against the ninja's weapon, "That there are yet /many/ things that can be done to that end."
Despite the promise, it's Rust to whom Gen now turns, shifting focus abruptly and violently as he launches a flying roundhouse for the shopteacher's skull, "Doubt is not always the enemy." Gen mutters, not particularly to either Rust /or/ Hokutomaru. Though it's hard to say for certain.

COMBATSYS: Rust endures Gen's Weakened Heavy Kick.

It is sort of a guilty pleasure, just getting off fights like this on his rare off time - he sort of came in expecting one from Takuma and, watching Gen go, thought - rather foolishly, with one of the last fleeting sparks of youth - giving Gen a go might be fun.
In retrospect, he'll find things a whole lot less entertaining when he realizes that the masterful Gen has been pulling his punches... if he ever does, or is of the presence of mind to recognize the difference between a punch that is pulled and one that is not.
Take this latest one.
He lands on the dojo floor with an extended leg and a somewhat rough crouch, as though he's not expecting the floor to come up so fast. Maybe it's just not as good a jump as he thought, where he really needs as many inches as he can get in a single bound.
He flinches again as he cuts a bit closer to Hokutomaru than he'd like, though most of the drama going on between them is lost to him in the heat of the moment. The words Gen says are a bit clearer at that moment.
Not quite as clear as the flying roundhouse to the skull that comes so clean, so viciously even pulled back that Gen may not even feel any resistance against where his foot goes. It's almost like the man's head isn't there any more.
Rust did not dodge it. It is entirely the opposite case.
His head and upper body jerk violently to the right in a spray of spittle and even a bit more blood than most would be comfortable with shedding, that single strike enough to turn that rough face that razors can't touch into a large, puffy bruise right off the bat. The pain is so numbing that the teacher doesn't even realize the blood pouring out of a newly opened wound right above his respective ear.
This is, largely, because he is quickly turning an abortive block effort to swing his left hand somewhere in Gen's direction - hopefully around face level - and slam him straight down into the Kyokugen dojo's wooden floor in a wordless, lightning-fast turnaround only on virtue of the momentum driving his recoil being the one that powers the grab attempt itself.
He'd have more to say on the matter if his cheek weren't so bruised and puffy.

The stick, glowing with energy, is caught - and Hokutomaru's eyes go wide for a moment as, mid air, he is stopped. The brief surprise is replaced with determination, the boy pushing harder. Gen shoves back, pushing him back, and leaving the ninja to leap backwards, into a ready position.

"GHHH!" Hokutomaru briefly lets out, catching his tongue and keeping the yowl of pain down. The predator always wants to hear more. Every nerve on his feet screams at him as he lands, making it a tough landing. But he can't fall to his knees. It'd just hurt /more/.

"That'll just speed things up!" He shoots back, defiant even under his circumstances. "And if I don't think I can - then how the hell will I actually do it!" A bit harsher language than he uses - but it's the harshest he's allowed!

And then Rust gets struck - and it's a very /very/ good strike. Hokutomaru winces - half for himself, and half for the sight he just witnessed. This guy is cleaning their clocks - dismantling it to even dust out the inside! A full body service.

"Hey, you're... not done with ME yet!" The boy claims - though he knows he sure is. He adds, to Rust, "Don't you fall!" At least not before he does.

Hokutomaru drives forwards, nerves screaming at him. He can't keep up much more - but he doesn't give in at the least. Another poof of smoke and Hokutomaru is above Gen, the stick swung in a wide, sweeping arc as he falls. It burns with chi energy - and so does Hokutomaru, barely able to keep things together.

Things are getting just a little hazy.

Rust's sentiments are more or less echoed in Gen, though this particular pleasure is arguably a fair bit guiltier than Rust's, given the emotional and physical impact of the fight in question. Still, despite the ongoing, lengthy bout... Gen seems fresh and fit as a fiddle, something a man a third his age would have a difficult time matching on the best of days. Gen lands in a swift twist, coming about to face both his adversaries as he calmly steps backwards one step, two. The elder assassin's sleeves momentarily hide his hands as eyes narrow, and strength gasps inward. It's the odd thing about fighting Gen, the lack of /projected/ power. All of it fuels every precise motion, swallowed up and obfuscated within the old master himself.
Rust's swing comes in on Gen, and his left hand sweeps upwards to meet it. It's the scarcest touch of fingertips, perfectly in synch with Rust's own stroke, at his wrist. Gen suddenly vaults up over it, reversing his position with the attack, and crouching - upside down - in a slow float as gravity seeks to catch up with the sudden movement. Then, Hokutomaru appears.
"As you wish." Gen concedes to the ninja's demands. The downward stroke of chi-infused staff is caught on Gen's kung-fu slippers, their soles squashing out the energy flare as he momentarily crouches -on- the swing, then bounds off it to the floor. Somehow, almost inexplicably, Gen kicks off the dojo's floor even faster still, crashing back up in at the descending little ninja with a classic, snapping flying kick. Only this kick leads into another, seeking to kick the ninja-boy higher. Then another, and another. Gen flips about into another, aligning to kick Hokutomaru quite literally off the dojo ceiling, then invert suddenly, axe-kicking him back into the floor.

The slight weight on his wrist is lost in that heat of the moment, only becoming a little more clear when there isn't the sound of a body hitting the wood. It's about the time Hokutomaru proudly proclaims that Gen's not through with him yet while the 40-year-old man falls onto a knee in trying to catch the rest of his inertia from that single powerful kick.
Mr. Rust turns his head over to the right - the side significantly less bruised - to catch a glimpse at Gen's backside and his vocal affirmation to meet Hokutomaru's physically spoken demand for more, more, more. It is only the briefest glimpse of the exchange that follows as the left side of his face throbs in pain and bleeds. It's hard to pay attention to the lightning fast kicks Gen is throwing when the left side of his face is in significant pain.
Howard is typically proud of his ability to take and shrug off some pretty heavy hits. On a good day, getting hit by a car on the open street would not be a problem. That kick was not a car. That kick was maybe a smaller train. He wipes blood away from his mouth and face, left eye squeezed shut with a tear running down his left (bloodied) cheek. Sure, Gen is pretty small comapred to him, but holy hell, Howard thinks, he must be using some ancient Chinese secret to compact a huge foot made of iron in there or something.
Getting back up to his feet, he gingerly rubs the side of his face with his free hand, and grunts once. I could still take another one like that, he foolishly believes, I got hit by worse, I still have something to show.
The left side of his face still wants to desperately throw in the towel in comparison.

COMBATSYS: Rust gains composure.

No way!

That's all that goes through the ninja boys head as his staff strikes against the kung-fu slipper that Gen raises to meet it. As hard of a strike it is, as much effort as he puts into it... it... it didn't work. He stops it by landing on the blow, once again able to leap off without interrupting his motions.

Amist his third swing, Hokutomaru is faced with more than just the floor, Gen rebounding as if he was a living embodiment of a superball, a leg aimed straight for him - and Hokutomaru hadn't even finished his assault yet. That Geezer was already on the offensive!?

"Hah, you're pretty fast...!" The boy gets out, just as the first kick snaps towards him. Smoke erupts around the littlest ninjas, obscuring him momentarily...

The kick slams into something solid, but oddly, Gen's kick sends him a bit too skywards. In a desperate moment, he jams the stick downwards, bending it, as the cloud of smoke forms. The first kick slams into him fully, but the second slides along his body. It's already enough. Already too much for him to keep on going.

But he doesn't just stop.

He reaches the ceiling a bit too early, though every motion is a pained one. His body screams at him - and he'll be able to mute it shortly. But before he goes down - he's just got to fight.

The ceiling erupts in flame, the stick spun around like a twister, though in reverse. It descends towards Gen as he still rises, though the technique is somewhat sloppy - there's still strength, will behind it.

It descends, a column of fire and wind billowing towards Gen, down from the ceiling, before the eye of the cyclone descends and touches ground, Hokutomaru breathing heavily, arms at his sides, the heavy stick still gripped.

The last of the chi fire, still burning on the end of the stick, flickers and dies. His gaze, towards Rust, is focused. It's hard.

"There's no way.."

His muscles lock up, the fatigue that sets in, overwhelming him. His body teeters slowly, finally falling backwards, sprawled out.

"..he's gonna..."

He mutters something, "Win..."

Despite his facade towards Rust, that Hokutomaru wasn't all that hurt, was hanging in there - his body betrays him. Despite the grin that is still half plastered to his face, he doesn't move after that.

Infact, if it wasn't for Gen's control, there was a good chance he wouldn't move /ever/ again.

COMBATSYS: Hokutomaru can no longer fight.

However flighty and slippery Hokutomaru may be - Gen delivers the kicks as best as he can, more than confident in the force applied to the littlest ninja. While it is true that, at the end of the day, it could have been much much worse for them... Hokutomaru in particular was dealt a stinging reminder of the point Gen had to make. Rust, on the other hand... Rust does not seem to need the same. Then again, Rust isn't an impulsive teenager, either. Gen hopes. When Hokutomaru's cunning last-ditch assault explodes, all the elder assassin can do is contract in around himself. Legs bend up, presenting hardened shins and knees. Arms fold together and cross, protecting face and chest with his hardened guard. The fire washes across him, but rather than ripping through Gen, it throws him clear as it clashes with his own inner energy. Heat burns, sears, and as Gen lands clear of the crash-landing ninja, he brushes seared black off the sleeves of his fine robes. "Hmph."
The singular syllable is the whole of Gen's offered response to Hokutomaru's declaration, and fall. "Stubborn fool. But, I suppose he will survive. What about you, Howard Rust? There was no lesson planned for you, here. Have you discovered one or do you need to continue looking?" Gen adopts a stance half between fight and rest, one side more relaxed, hand open at his side, while the other remains coiled near his back as he faces the shop teacher sidelong, anticipating perhaps.

COMBATSYS: Gen takes no action.

Rust             1/----===/=======|=====--\-------\0              Gen

For a man of generally sluggish movements, the man's heart is racing fast when Hokutomaru makes that one big, last, final push to leave a mark on the legendary martial arts master himself. It's absolutely crazy watching people like that in action, when things that - to his scale - seem so lightning fast, powerful, and dangerous like that there giant column of fire.
The man flinches and leans back again simply because he thinks it's coming for /him/ with the angle Hokutomaru's got going - when he looks down from his raised left forearm, there's a little kid gazing at him. The sort of gaze you don't forget easily. 'There's no way he's gonna win.' With that grin, the boy passes out. It's a really telling image.
There's Gen, right there, with only slightly seared clothing for the effort, seemingly shrugging off what Howard Rust would call, truthfully and honestly, an amazing technique. Compared to the shop teacher, Gen's still looking the part of being ready to fight, ready to go a couple more rounds while the other man - the only one left standing - still has his left eye shut with blood coming out the side of his mouth.
Ol' Rusty is pointed towards Gen briefly with the raised hand, an attempt on the teacher's part to guess the direction Gen was going to attack from. No attack comes. His right hand shakes subtly with anticipation, as though Gen /could/ strike at any minute within moments of that query.
He really wants to see if he can measure up to this guy in some form or another, even if - logically speaking - he himself is either the equal or lesser of almost anyone else Gen fought just now.
With his left hand, he wipes blood off the side of his mouth again. His left forearm almost looks bloodied enough to make one think /that/ part got wounded. The kid's desire to claim that this guy won't win still rings strong, still touches a part of him back when he had stars in his eyes for what he really wanted to do with his life. The broken camera equipment all tells a story here.
Moments later, with a loud exhale, Ol' Rusty is stuck back through the toolbelt in what is, genuinely, clear surrender, even as his right hand doesn't let go of the top. He thinks of drawing again, to challenge this guy, see if he could really land a mark against someone of this caliber.
Then he lets go.
"I'm... I'm good." He concedes with a grunt, though the left side of his face feels like anything /but/ good. It is going to conspire with his joints to revolt against him.

COMBATSYS: Rust takes no action.
