Description: El Fuerte and Carmine meet up to lose their Neo League virginity together. Can Carmine string together a good enough performance to impress Mike Haggar who makes a cameo alongside Miracle? Or is the Hurricane of the Gulf too much for the Metro cop to handle? (Winner: El Fuerte)
The first wave of 'special training' for up-and-coming rookie cop (for a given, incredibly low value of up-and-coming) Carmine Kolodzik is over. Unfortunately, this means the only way he's going to get better is if he gets out in the real world of fighters; as such, he has been thrust into the Neo League, more or less non-negotiably.
Though he knows that most fighters pick something loose and breathy to wear (or equally frequently, 'sweatpants and no shirt at all,') Carmine sees himself as representing the force at all times. As such, he has put on his full suit and shirt ensemble, nice dress shoes and all. He even has a tie.
It is the last Wednesday of the month. The last Wednesday of the month is always Voltron day. The tie forms blazing sword and looks boss as hell.
Nevertheless, he seems to be getting himself prepared as best he can for the upcoming fight; just because he's dressed nice doesn't mean he can't do a basic warm-up on the section of red carpet that has become the signature fight spot of the casino.
What a great idea to get more exposure and gain more popularity. It would seem that Carmine's opponent has not been signed up for long as well even though he probably does hold an edge experience wise when it comes to this sort of thing. El Fuerte has decided he will use the Neo League for a way to reach out to new crowds and promote any new creations food wise when they happen. And boy do they happen often. Poor Rust was the latest victim when it comes to El Fuerte's cooking. In retrospect Carmine is much more lucky in the fact he is having to fight El Fuerte and not deal with his cooking.
"Ladies and gentleman!" bellows the masked warrior. "It is...DYNAAAAAMIC FIGHTING TIIIIME!" With that declaration being made El Fuerte starts flipping his way towards the part of the casino that had been designated for the fight before making one final leap and landing in the center of the area with a finger pointing in the air. "The Hurricane of the Gulf is here to impress and wow everyone once again!" He then laughs some folds his arms over his chest as he looks about. That grin widens when he notices Carmine and he gives a nod. "Let us put on a good show, amigo!"

Haggar is in the background, alternating between glaring at a casino official and reacting positively or negatively to Carmine's progress in the fight, using a pattern of a few set animations: wincing when he gets hit with a special, nodding when he lands a special, and rubbing his forehead when he screws something up.
For a moment, Carmine marvels at El Fuerte's sheer dynamism; he's got such /speed/, and he's so enthusiastic. It's really amazing to watch -- when he watched this kind of stuff on TV when he was younger, he never realized he'd be a part of it. It's almost staggering -- is he really about to fight a guy with such speed and showmanship? Can he do this?
"And may the best man win," Carmine says back to El Fuerte, after clearing his throat. Always be a good sport -- that's rule number one. Slipping neatly into stance, he can't help but crack a smile; El Fuerte's energy and laughter is infectious, /especially/ to Carmine.
And -- for the moment, at least -- Carmine just stays in stance. The casino is a big, rolling wave of emotions, and Carmine needs to do his best not to get swept up in it. His fighting style /requires/ him to have his center; he needs to strip away the excess and focus on the Hurricane of the Gulf, the masked master, El Fuerte. If he can do that, he's sure he can handle this.

Beside Haggar sits a particularly stern-looking younger man. He rests his chin in his hands, and rests his arms on spread knees, but never has somebody's expression been so -dour-. With a critical frown, he watches Carmine get ready. Behind shaded lenses, Thomas Miracle fixes his gaze on the Mayor beside him.
"He's too damn happy about this."
There is a large grin and El Fuerte gives a thumbs up towards Carmine. He also seems to have noticed the mayor himself is in the crowd, though obviously the luchador does not know the actual reason why. Perhaps the former wrestler would like to get a closer look at the luchador and his speed! The man is a legend so Fuerte considers himself honored to be fighting in the presence of such a man. He may just have to kick things into high gear to see if he can impress. Perhaps he can get a meeting about opening a restaurant in Metro!
"I will do it!" he declares as he forgets he is using his outside voice to agree with the thoughts in his head. Before anyone could even ask what El Fuerte meant by that he is on the move, becoming almost a blur as he quickly closes the distance between himself and Carmine. He reaches to quickly grab the other fighter by his shirt and then fall back while kicking his feet upwards in an attempt for a good old fashioned monkeyflip.

El Fuerte's monkey-flip is something Carmine himself is reasonably trained in; as such, he knows very well just how to roll with it. Letting the luchador give him a toss, he neatly rolls and performs a quick kip-up mid-roll; the impact stings a little, but it isn't the worst thing. He hurt himself worse when he was starting out.
"Not bad," he says to himself. He's gonna have to vary up his technique a little more -- on someone this fast, raw judo and CQC isn't going to work. His hand reaches down toward his hip for a moment, as if to draw a sidearm -- but then he remembers that half the time he doesn't even carry one anymore.
Bringing his hand back up as if he were holding it just the same, the rookie pulls the invisible 'trigger' and jerks his hand back just slightly, letting loose a bright blue-purple 'bullet' of force. As it flies, he uses that invisible 'recoil' to draw himself back a little, neatly placing himself in stance once again.
COMBATSYS: Carmine successfully hits ElFuerte with Stray Rounds.

The luchador rolls backwards and twists about to find that Carmine managed to land just fine instead of impacting on the ground hard like Fuerte had hoped. He looks ready to dash forward again when instead he is greeted by a gun being produced. His gaze narrows some and when that bullet of energy comes flying out he attempts to just step aside. It ends up hitting him in the shoulder and causes the masked fighter to spin about on one foot a few times before managing to get himself under his own control again.
"I see this will be an interesting fight." Perhaps sticking in closer to this fighter will be a better idea. Last thing he needs to be doing is dodging bullets all night even if they are ones made of energy. He dashes forward again and then leaps up high into the air. He does a little flip and quickly comes down full force. He is a small fighter, but the impact he creates with his momentum is enough to possibly slam Carmine into the ground if he isn't careful. "TOSTAAADAAAAAAA PRESS!"

Glancing back for a split second toward Sergeant Miracle and the Mayor as El Fuerte remarks on the quality of the fight, Carmine feels an even greater urge to perform; it shines through in the way he approaches his next maneuver. Planting his feet and getting ready for the incoming leaping flip, Carmine reaches out toward the smaller Hurricane, reaching out toward him.
Almost instantly, his body snaps into a smooth reflex motion. He whirls himself around once, using El Fuerte's full leaping momentum and redirecting it; his arm hooks down a moment later, slamming the luchador full-speed into the ground with a full, distinct 'thud.'
A half-second hop back later, Carmine takes a deep breath and tries to keep his focus. He's got this, he begins to think -- he just needs to be careful and pace himself. Too much aggression and he could tire himself out; too defensive and El Fuerte'll predict him. Not too hot, not too cold -- just right.
The move El Fuerte used is a dangerous one at times. Once he starts flying forward at such speed it is hard to redirect himself to avoid danger. Even worse his momentum can even be used against him like it is this time around. There is a loud thud upon him meeting the ground, but he is already kipping back up to return his feet with arms raised and ready to continue this fight. He is at least starting to get a feel on what this guy can do. He will just have to start changing his plan of attack and see what he can do.
For now he reaches in with another grapple attempt. He goes for a similar grab like before, though quickly he slips about to try and get behind Carmine and get his arms around the man's waist. He would then attempt to heft him upwards and while falling backwards he will release Carmine in an attempt to fling him away once again. "Hup!"

The modified suplex gets Carmine's attention, and it's a lot tougher to roll with than the last maneuver... but Carmine manages to tuck his legs and pivot his shoulder just so, and keeps himself squarely in the fight. Closing his eyes for a split second, he refocuses, doing his best to keep his head specifically in El Fuerte's game and not in, say, Miracle's worries about any bets he may or may not have placed.
Deciding to keep his tactics conservative for now, Carmine dusts off his sportcoat and gets in close with El Fuerte, snapping off a quick kick with those long, lanky legs of his. He's got several inches of height on his opponent, and with them, a few extra inches of reach -- reach he needs to use to the fullest against the more experienced fighter.

ElFuerte 0/-------/-======|=======\-------\0 Carmine
The size of the luchador has caused problems in the past, but he has dealt with far worse odds when it comes to fighting larger people. Taller this man may be he certainly isn't even close to the reach that Hugo had when the luchador had to fight that monster. He managed to stay out of reach there a few times and he is sure he can easily keep himself away from this man too if need be. Though this time when Carmine comes in the luchador doesn't attempt to get out of the way. He instead just grins and he brings up an arm to deflect the kick off his forarm before moving into action.
Quickly the luchador moves into action as he pushes on that leg a bit before kicking his own legs outwards as he actually starts to fall down. He pushes forward with his free hand when it hits the ground and he goes sliding forward to take the legs of Carmine out from under him as Fuerte continues forward and eventually hops back to his feet and turns about. "Ole!"
And finally, El Fuerte lands a nice big one right on Carmine. Sent tumbling full-speed to the ground by that forward-pushing slide, Carmine makes hard, forceful impact with the floor, the first one of his career. Wincing, he takes a deep breath and gets back up. The mayor came to watch this one, he reminds himself -- even if you don't win, you'd better make a /damn/ good showing.
Lying on the ground for a few seconds, Carmine does a little math in his head. He's got six, maybe seven, maybe eight inches of height on this fellow; he's about two thirds as fast coming and going, and about three quarters as fast in general, at a guess.
Kipping up a second time, he locks eyes with El Fuerte, trying to get into the luchador's head. He's got that speed advantage... how's he going to use it?
COMBATSYS: Carmine calculates his next move.

ElFuerte 0/-------/-======|=======\-------\0 Carmine
El Fuerte seems to be enjoying himself despite still possibly being the one that is having to fight an uphill battle. This guy is pretty good for being someone the luchador has never heard of. Then again perhaps it is a name he will be hearing more of soon enough. He too seems to be debating on what to do next, but he is a bit quicker in coming to a decision. He flashes that large grin again and he points to the air. "Lets do it!"
And he is off to the races again. This time he dives forward, but then he twists about to actually give himself enough height to go up and over Carmine to land behind him. What he ends up doing is grasping the other fighter my the shoulder and then twist him about, actually twirling Carmine to face him though also try to keep him off balance as he leans looks to grab for his shirt again. This time it ends up being a feint and the luchador comes forward with all his weight in an attempt to deliver a stiff clothesline to knock Carmine down again.

Rather than shy away from the clothesline, Carmine pushes /into/ it; the momentum zeroes out, and though it stings taking it dead-on like that, Carmine doesn't end up on his ass. That's something, at least -- and something he can parlay into an advantage if he keeps up with that offense.
He can feel El Fuerte tapping into those reserves of his, and the sheer enthusiasm gets to him; El Fuerte isn't the only one who's off to the races all of a sudden. Deciding to press his offense all the farther, Carmine sticks to using those long legs, snapping off a kick before El Fuerte can get away after that clothesline-to-shoulder clash.
The first quick whirling kick, if it connects, is followed up with another, then a final knee strike with as much force as Carmine can swing into it. Nothing too special -- but nothing to blink at, either.

It looks like the luchador wasn't kidding when he decided to kick it into high gear. He is a fast man, but it truely looks as if he wasn't going all out as far as his speed goes. He certainly has been trying to hit with all of his might. He looks as if he is about to be hit by that first kick, but before Carmine can even realize he is swinging at air the luchador is no longer in his line of sight. Of course those with a well trained eye can easily see him just falling backwards and quickly sliding around the other fighter before popping back to his feet.
He is hoping Carmine is caught off guard enough so the luchador can grab him around the waist once again. He then takes a deep breath and goes to jump upwards and take Carmine with him. He goes to flip forward while also spinning Carmine about to wherre he is being held upside down. That way when both come crashing down it will be right on Carmine's head and shoulders. "FAJITAS BUSTAAAAH!"

ElFuerte 0/-------/=======|=======\=------\1 Carmine
Getting grabbed by the waist is exactly what Carmine wants. There's a flash of insight in the last moment before the grab properly connects -- and that little flash is all the rookie needs to turn this around. Gripping El Fuerte's hand with his own and swinging his whole body forward, he flips El Fuerte cleanly and forcefully into the ground.
Reaching toward his /other/ side, he grabs a nightstick, giving it a single forceful swing down toward his freshly-flipped opponent before doing a quick backward hop to stabilize himself. Just a few more like that and he might be able to polish El Fuerte off -- and even if he doesn't, just from what he's done so far he thinks he's made an excellent showing.
His Voltron tie flutters dramatically. It's like the blazing sword is actually blazing. It's /so rad/.
Once again the luchador has hit the ground and he has to rethink his strategy. This guy looks to be a pretty good grappler in his own right. Fuerte has the speed advantage but so far it hasn't exactly helped him to the full extent right now. He doesn't take his time and remain on his back, though. He is quick to roll away after taking that hit from the nightstick and he gets to his feet. His brow furrows a bit and his usual grin has shifted to a more serious expression. He doesn't want to break out the big guns just yet. Then again he might just have to if he is going to properly subdue his opponent.
He takes a deep breath and he bolts again. He has to just keep going with hopes he has more endurance than his opponent. After a few quick steps he launches himself forward. This time he slings both his feet out and forward with the intent to dropkick Carmine right in the chest.

"Whoa!" Carmine interjects as the luchador comes in with that intense missile dropkick. Jumping back, he misses getting struck right in the chest by inches; for a moment, he considers swinging full-force with all he's got... but prudence ends up being, as usual, his highest value, and he hangs back, sucking in a big breath, still basking in relief at not eating feet to the face.
The grappling seems like it isn't always turning out the best -- nor, for that matter, is really any style. Everything seems to be finding about as much purchase as everything else... so right now, what he needs to do is buy himself a few seconds to think with another conservative maneuver.
His own expression matches Fuerte's, suddenly dropping into a more determined, serious look, as he comes in for a nice, straight punch. It's better than his usual -- he doesn't hook and he doesn't drop it. The form is just solid all around, even if it's nothing special.

ElFuerte 1/-------/=======|=======\=====--\1 Carmine
Thoughts race through El Fuerte's mind as he tries to decide just what he should do. He wants to keep pressing on, but it seems like each time Carmine seems to be on the same page. He will have to do something that might surprise the other fighter if he is going to get the upperhand. He catches himself on his hands on the way down from the dropkick and he flips back about to land on his feet. Instead of getting out of the way of that punch he just plows forward right towards it.
That fist connects, but probably not as solid as Carmine would have hoped. The way that El Fuerte impacted against him it more glances off the luchador's chin. El Fuerte though grins again as he finally has a firm grip on Carmine and he isn't going to let go just yet. He hefts the man up and goes to twist him about until he is upside down again. He then drives him downwards on his head before releasing and hopping away. Now he can only hope that was enough to keep the man down.
Head meets hard casino ground, and Carmine takes a blow that could cripple a lesser man. Letting out a sharp cry, he bites his lip and tries to retain his focus -- El Fuerte's got his number now, it seems. There's only one way he can handle this one now -- he has to go full-bore and make sure that his showing is worthwhile. He may not be able to pull this one out, but at the very least, he can show that Haggar's made him into something more than just another rookie.
At first, his instinct is to stay far away, to figure out a way to pick El Fuerte apart by inches, to give him the death of a thousand cuts. But no, he thinks -- he doesn't have the time for that, not with his opponent carrying such an immense advantage and so much more experience.
What Carmine comes in for next looks for all the world like another one of his mundane little judo flips or police slams. Just a quick grab for one of the hopping luchador's arms to help him into the floor.

From what El Fuerte has learned is he rather avoid being grabbed from Carmine. Those little judo flips and the like have not been the friendliest of things and the luchador has bruises that will prove that. He is quick to step away and he manages to lean back far enough that the larger man can't quite grasp onto the slippery luchador. "I must give it to you, amigo. You are a worthy opponent." Perhaps he should plan better no matter what the opponent. He shirked off thinking his experience would let him become the victor with ease. That is obviously not the case.
He steps forward again, closing the small gap between the two as he reaches low to try and try to grasp at a leg with one hand while kicking a leg forward to come behind the other leg of Carmine. He then just pushes forward in an attempt to trip up the other fighter and let him meet the ground once again.

"You're not bad yourself," Carmine says, taking a deep breath, feeling El Fuerte's honest fighter's spirit coming off that congratulations. In truth, he'd figured El Fuerte'd have him in the first minute, after watching a couple tapes of the luchador's previous fights before this one -- but he's pleasantly surprised by his own performance. This'll be a memorable first fight whether he pulls it out or not.
Slipping into his proper judo stance once again, Carmine lets El Fuerte get as far as that leg hook... before a small smile crosses his face. With a sudden jerk of that hooked leg and a small hunch down to reach for El Fuerte, he reverses the posture, hooking an arm under his opponent's. One quick 180 degree turn and hurl later, the Hurricane of the Gulf finds himself planted, once more, squarely on the ground.
It has been awhile since the luchador has spent this much time on his back when in a fight. Even in the squared circle he would often not meet the mat unless he was coming down after an offensive move. He is going to have a nice little date with a heating pad after this fight it would seem. Still, he is chuckling a bit to himself as he gets to his feet. "Wonderful. The Hurricane of the Gulf is getting a good workout today." He hops in place a few times and he then gives a nod to Carmine one more time before dashing forward.
Another leap and the luchador seems intent on trying to land on the shoulders of Carmine and catch the man's head between his legs. He points to the air with both hands and he lets out another 'Ole!' before attempting to lean back and use his momentum to lift Carmine off his feet again and in turn throw him away while El Fuerte himself attempts to land on both hands and balance himself.

Carmine may not move like El Fuerte, but he can sure roll with anything he throws out. The quick hurl sends him sprawling, but again, Carmine turns it into a sideways roll, using the momentum constructively. Or at least, as constructively as he can while being hurled by a luchador.
Glancing out to the crowd again, he takes a slow, deep breath. This is it, he thinks -- the end of the match is coming for him. He's gonna have to play this one just right.
How would /Haggar/ play this, he wonders? What about Cody? How would the heroes of his childhood handle being outmatched and rapidly weakening, even as their opponents seem to be surging with resolve?
Out of the corner of his eye, Carmine spots a craps table at 'ringside' (such as it is). Taking a deep breath, he decides to try the ridiculous -- after all, it wasn't just skill and prudence that won Metro City back from Mad Gear.
Grabbing the craps table by the leg, the rookie lets out a forceful grunt, hefting it in mid-roll, much to the patrons' chagrin. Whirling it around, he swings it as hard as he can for El Fuerte; it's not a calculated maneuver, and it sure isn't smart.
You can't /just/ play the stats, even if it usually gets you out clean. Sometimes, it's all about heart.

Haggar rubs his forehead.
It would seem that Carmine has asked himself the important question in times like this. What would Haggar do? Of course another option would have been looking for a delicious turkey in a barrel, but something like that probably isn't found at least inside the casino. The idea about using the table as a weapon seems good enough, though! The problem for El Fuerte is he has already gotten back to his feet and he was going full speed towards Carmine when the man starts to swing that table. "EL FUUUUEEEEERTEEEE!" He cries as he sees the table come at him.
And then he bursts right through it at full force like some sort of Kool-Aid man luchador. "DYNAMIIIIIIIITE!" He just plows right into Carmine after that as a little ball of fury. He is a blur of punches and kicks that pummel the other fighter to no end. His final strike is a powerful spinning kick aimed at Carmine's chest that knocks him away. El Fuerte lands while breathing heavily before he strikes a pose and points his finger in the air again. "A table cannot stop me! I am the greatest chef and wrestler in the world today!" This is probably a good thing.
Haggar drops Oil Barrels Everywhere.
Miracle drops Boombox-laden Barrels.
El Fuerte's aggressive combo catches Carmine on-guard -- but it doesn't matter. He's got such violent intensity that it plows clean through him. The craps table shatters, and so does, probably, at least one of Carmine's ribs; the final spinning kick sends him flying, and for an instant, it looks like he's out.
Gotta dig a little deeper, he tells himself. He can feel the intensity of the crowd, of El Fuerte, of his mentors on the force... he can feed off that -- and he can give them one last thing to remember his rookie match by. Staggering toward El Fuerte, bleeding from some nasty splinter wounds, he reaches out toward him, grabbing roughly for his shoulders.

The luchador looks rather caught off guard by Carmine getting up. This man apparently is much like El Fuerte in the fact that he just never gives up. That is a admirable trait to have. It is also a pain in the ass sometimes in cases like this. He eases back into his fighting stance and he then hmms and he takes a quick hop back to avoid that hand that grasps for him. He hesitates a moment once Carmine is down and he wonders if the man is finally out. He leans down to look and then he straightens back up while thrusting both hands in the air. "Your victor! The Hurricane of the Gulf!" he shouts.
He will have to be more on his toes if he continues to do this Neo League thing. It looks like there are going to be alot of dangerous foes out there that he knows nothing about. For now he seems fine in taking some time to celebrate a hard earned win. He folds his arms over his chest and he does a little hat dance while laughing loudly. "Who is ready to sample some of my cooking now!?" And with that being said the place starts to empty out rather quickly.
