Quon - Fight Fanaticism, and Freak-outs

Description: Quon decides to blow off steam by visiting the local arcade. Cammy tries to find a certain NESTS agent at a local arcade. They both visit video game violence upon each other and establish that Vega's character that while abusable is easily beaten when you put him in the hands of an amateur.

Cammy is cruising the amusement arcades of Southtown, clad in what passes for a disguise for the Shadaloo Doll - a huge, all encompassing red cloak, which hides her blue uniform. Fortunately for her she is quite small of frame and so the big part of 'big red cloak' is relative, so she may not stand out all /that/ much amidst the crowds.

Idly walking through an arcade with her hands in her pockets, her eyes roam the crowds rather than the games, as she is here with a purpose in mind - looking for an individual, Angel, who Master Vega has marked for a bit of a beating pour encourager les autres. That said, she gets distracted by one arcade machine for a moment. These Capcom guys clearly have a classy taste.
Quon for his part, has gotten through a particularly hard test in one of his more boring classes at Southtown University. Quite frankly he could use some time to unwind. After all, he's earned it in his opinion. Walking past game, after game he finally finds it. NL 2010.

After a few moments of watching the two players go at it, he puts a coin on the machine, reserving his place in line. When he steps back, he finally sees a person in a red cloak which in his eyes ends up marking her as sticking out like a sore thumb in the arcade. Usual dress code, for arcade is casual. As a result he ends up spend a bit more time staring than would be considered polite.
Cammy is staring blankly at Quon as he looks up at her, and it takes quite a long time for her to apparently realise that she's just sitting there, zombie like, with him apparently noticing her being Doll-weird. She blinks her blue eyes, shakes her head slightly, and takes a step towards Quon and the queue. After all, Quon does look kinda weird himself, with a yellow martial arts suit on.

Always on the look out for aid in the boring investigation work that she is doing, she looks him up and down, eyes the game, and asks, "A fan of fighters, perhaps? Me too." she lies in a British accent, reaching up to tap her chest with a a delicate finger, and perhaps a hint of a red gauntlet - she really doesn't do the disguise thing very well.
Fortunately, Quon isn't attempting to disguise himself. But yeah the mustard yellow outfit will draw some stares though truth be told not as many due to Southtown being a major fighting mecca. Who knows? He may even be vindicated once he ends up in NL 2011 or something.

Eventually the college student realizes he's being addressed. "I'm a major fan. Nothing like the adrenaline coming from competition." The fact that he could easily apply that statement to fighting as well ends up bringing an amused smile on his face. "What's your favorite charac.."

He pauses when he looks down to where her hand would be and the obvious answer becomes apparent. "Ahhh... A Cammy fan."
Cammy looks rather flustered at that. And she really isn't known for being easily flusterable, so that is quite an achievement on Quon's part! Oh shit, he knows who she is! Well. Sorta. "I, uh. There are..?". She blinks again, takes a breath, and eventually just says the easiest thing she can say to get out of this situation. "Yes.".

One hand meanwhile is reaching into a pocket of her red cloak, and half drawing out a photograph or a letter of some sort, but now he's gone and said that and totally destroyed her poise, she thinks maybe it's not such a good idea to be brandishing photographs like the T-1000. "Have you heard of a fighter called Angel?" she asks, almost timidly.
Flustering was not part of the plan however. And he's wondering if he may have said something wrong. "I.. I just saw... and I figured you liked playing as the..." Thankfully Cammy's personal out salvages the situation's awkwardness for both parties.

"Angel? Yeah I've seen a few of her fights online and in NL 2010, she's particularly nasty to fight against but I never could get the hang of her play style fighting as her. Made getting through Season Mode with her a pain in the ass."

What goes unsaid, but probably is very obvious, is that he's never met her in a real life capacity.
Cammy ahs, vaguely disappointed by his response. Well, the unsaid part of his response, anyway. "Well, I heard on the grapevine that there is a good possibility that she is somewhere out in the open in Southtown at the moment, and I want to meet her, in person." she explains. "I'm not so sure where in Southtown she would be, though. I thought this would be a likely candidate area, perhaps." she says, looking around the arcade. "Well, maybe outside, anyway. It sounds like you have not seen her though...". Cammy's eyes widen fractionally, and she cocks her head, assuming an expectant look, awaiting confirmation. "Not recently? I am in the wrong place?".
Quon shrugs at Cammy, not quite knowing what to say. "I wouldn't know." After that, he glances at the coin line picking up more and coins. He then returns his attention back to what is a fan of the Killer Bee. "To be honest, I don't know her traveling patterns and so I would probably be one of the least likely people to answer that for you. She may come later... She might be somewhere else completely."

"Hell..." He begins gesturing with his hands to give what he's saying more emphasis. "Beyond her appearances in NL and her appearance in the video game, I know not a damn thing about her."
"No, she's not all that significant, really." Cammy agrees, but sighs nevertheless, scowling a bit for good measure. "But I must find her. And it's taking a long time. Well, I guess I can take a bit of time off.". The slacking and stymied Killer Bee leans against the machine they are queuing up for, noting the coin pile getting bigger and bigger.

"I'm not too familiar with the etiquette involved with the coins," she observes, "but I suspect it will be your turn soon, either that or you will be annoying some people who are waiting. As for me, meh. I don't know what to do now. Maybe I will go get some icecream or something. Bah.".
"Yeah... There's one guy left ahead of me and then I'm up." It's at this point that Quon pays attention to what's going on in the fight because he'll probably end up facing one of these two if not the person ahead of him.

"You don't sound too enthused about ice cream." He decides not to press it further but he's getting the feeling there's something deeper going on. It's not any of his business though so he lets it go. Besides, Angel is a big girl. She can take care of herself.
Cammy is only a little girl, but size matters not! "I see." she replies, and tries to peer at the game being played, with about as much enthusiasm as her ice cream talk. And discovers that perhaps size matters a bit after all, when trying to peer over peoples shoulders anyway. "The only thing that enthuses me right now is the prospect of finding Angel." she says vaguely, her back momentarily turned.

"But I'm sure I'll find her eventually." she says, half turning back to Quon. "Which fighter do you like that wears the yellow clothes?" she asks, the Doll attempting to make small talk, while indicating his attire with one hand, which is briefly drawn out of a pocket to point.
"Oh this?" Yes, Quon got called on his own get up. It had to happen eventually. "No one..." There's a pause as his lips curl into a somewhat impish grin. "...yet." He glances down at the kung-fu garb before looking back at the game.

"As for why I'm wearing it, after I'm finished here, I plan on heading to the beach to train." It's a believable lie and it's probably best that he doesn't admit to the fact that he hasn't done laundry yet today. He also realizes that it /would/ be a good idea to train after the trip to the arcade especially after the warning Sagat had given to him.
"Oh. OK." she replies, a little surprised that he's apparently dressed up as a nobody. Some fan! "Training on the beach. How nice. Maybe I should do that. It would be good to get a little sun.". Cammy is rather pale, after all. "And the icecreams are out there, as well.".

Cammy is kinda curious how this video game thing will work out, she must admit, so is happy to hang around for now to see how Quon shapes up against whoever survives in the death match going on right now! At least, she seems to perk up a bit from her vague apathy when someone is finally beaten up ahead in the queue and a space is made at the machine.
"I guess I'm up now."

Quon moves up to the machine and puts his coin in before glancing over at the other player. He takes a few moments to pick and ends up selecting Fei Long as his character while they select Kyo Kusanagi as theirs.

The fight begins and Quon gets caught in a combo early on. "No matter how many times I hear him say, Body ga, amee ze, it still gets on my nerves." Quon responds in turn with a combo of his own. And the fight goes back and forth until Quon loses the first round.

Second round goes similar to that however Quon manages to pull a narrow victory at the end by way of Fei Long's Rekka Ken.

The third round sees Quon falling behind early in the match however, he manages to make a come back near the end. With the victory obtained, the Southtown U. student breathes a deep sigh of relief before the next one comes up.
Cammy is kinda wedged in between Quon and his opponent while this is going on, peering curiously at the screen. A long strand of blonde hair perhaps getting in the way of the players. "Hmm, why are you playing him?" she asks, pointing at Fei Long, lip curling. "He's just a poser.". Frustration builds, until the game is over.

"I want a go." she says, and eyes the next in the queue balefully as she wilfully queuejumps, gently but firmly nudging the next in line away. And the gamer in question isn't really going to start too much of a scene over it with a girl. (She does at least provide her own coin, though, how fair minded). Needless to say, her choice of character is obvious. "Master Vega!" she beams happily. Even if she hasn't got a clue how to actually play the game, so is no doubt going to be beaten horribly.
When Quon hears the words, 'Master Vega!' His stomach turns and twists. And the reasons for that are two fold. First Vega's probably one of the most BROKEN characters in the game. In fact in American tournament he's banned where as here in Japan, there's an unspoken ban on his use. The second reason is the use of the word 'Master.' If not for the combination of Quon's conversation with Sagat, various fight videos, and reading up on the Thailand war when he returned to civilization, he wouldn't have understood the significance of that one word.

Put simply, Quon's reaction is, "Oh... fuck." Thankfully the other arcade patrons just believe that it's because of him going up against a broken, god tier Vega. Little do they know that it's because realization has set in that he's standing next to Shadaloo's Killer Bee.
Master Vega may indeed be broken, but Cammy has only the vaguest idea how to play this game. While she's not a moron and enjoys her Doll reaction time, the niceties of frame advantages and funny half circles she is totally oblivious to. And so Fei Long kicks Vega's ass all over the screen.

Leaving Cammy open mouthed, in shock, horror and maybe even pain. After a few moments of stunned silence, she lets out a held breath, a hissing exhale. One red gauntleted hand clenches into a fist. "I don't think Master Vega would approve of this game." she mutters, tight lipped. The Doll has plenty of self control unlike some people, though, so the clenched fist does not unwisely batter anything.

Meanwhile, Quon gasps a sigh of relief at her not actually knowing how to use him. And in fact, that fact that his Fei Long got a victory over Vega is talked about in the murmers behind them, with them even mentioning the fact that in the hands of a mediocre user, Vega is incredibly dangerous against a fairly skilled Fei Long user.

Quon for his part doesn't kick up a fuss or openly state that he knows the fact that she /is/ Cammy and that her statement about being a fan of the game was false if she didn't know how completely and utterly abusable Vega actually is. This only leads to blood shed and property damage. Instead, he opts for a diplomatic approach/a quick exit in the form of selecting Cammy and then demonstrating a few tricks to using her on the next before giving her his game.
