Alma - Alma and Chun-Li Fight In Estonia

Description: Wherein Chun-Li Xiang, seeking to draw out Shadaloo minions, encounters Alma Towazu, seeking a renewed destiny within the heart of battle, and kickzkriegs right through his Maginot Line.

Estonia! Not exactly known for much these days. But sometimes it's better NOT to be known. Especially when you're a hub of Shadaloo human trafficking. Which, once one knows that, explains why Chun-Li is there.

The World's Strongest Woman is fairly conspicuous just because who else would have that hairstyle or those thighs or openly flaunt the fact that they're Chun-Li. She's in full fighting regalia -- standing in the middle of Tallinn, having issued an open challenge to the greatest of the nation's fighters. It's a good way to entertain some people and maybe take their minds off of the fact that Estonia's economy is nearly as screwed up as Greece's. It's also a good way to maybe influence the kids and show them the power and prestige that the discipline of the martial arts can bring. And it's a great way to lure out Shadaloo assassins who would try to kill her under cover of a match.

Chun-Li humored the most recent attacker for a few blows before one Hyakuretsu Kyaku put him down. People are applauding. She's helping load the man onto a stretcher. She doesn't suspect the Alma that lurks.

No one suspects the Alma.
He just looks so nice.
Yes, even with half his face burned off, the Scarred Beauty of Southtown cuts a striking and reassuring figure in his tailored casualwear, courtesy of his own Giorgio brand. Chrome brand traveling messenger bag slung over one surprisingly broad shoulder, its deep crimson matching the faintly red hue of the tips of his shortened blond bangs and eyebrows, he stands by the sidelines, eyes half-closed, thrilling in the resplendent aura of Chun-Li's fighting spirit.
~ The strongest woman in the world... ~
Xiangfei had always admired her, but he'd never seen her in person before. Since leaving Taizhou and the horrors he endured and overcame there, the normally purposeful youth has wandered an unusually meandering path toward his not-final destination: Southtown. The King of Fighters tournament invitation he received changed his tone, and for the first time in his life, he is truly unsure about his destiny, if not his self. He knows what he loves, and who he is, but not what path to take, where he should go. Fighting Ash Crimson in France, however, reminded him of the fundamentals.
He loves to fight. He is a warrior.
"Miss Xiang."
A risen phoenix.
"Please pardon me."
Dropping his bag upon the cobbles as the crowd parts around him, the distinctive nominal head of the YFCC smiles softly, his hazel eyes clear and mild.
"Would you accept my challenge?"
Every chance he gets, he'll push it to the limit.
To grasp hold of a new fate.

Chun-Li has been fighting all day. This is an important detail only in that no one would ever guess it.

The Most Dangerous Woman in the World stops helping her latest victim when she hears the gentlemanly voice behind her, and she turns to face the speaker. Even when she turns around to face Alma, she's ready -- for a sucker-punch, or a thrown bottle, or a knife. And even when she knows that none of these are coming, she stays ready. Her brown eyes flick over toward the medical personnel, waiting until they're a safe distance away. The crowd closes back in and the circle becomes unbroken.

The full brunt of Chun-Li's attention is then pitched at Alma. She doesn't know the boy -- perhaps she'd recognize him if he didn't have that terrible scarring. She's met a lot of people and knows more on reputation -- that's what being a one-woman war on Shadaloo is about.

"Always," Chun-Li says to Alma's question, voice warm but steely. She presses her hands together, fingers pointing up and out, and dips her head.

Then, when her head lifts, the warmth in Chun-Li's eyes is replaced -- gone, leaving only the resolve of one of the world's greatest street fighters.

"Show me what you can do."

As anticipated.
Alma shivers once, slightly, but hides it well. The intensity of her fighting spirit is difficult to bear. How long as it been since he simply thrilled in the joy of spirited combat? What rapture it will be to clash against her soul!
"My name is Alma Towazu."
Limbs relaxing, back straight, feet shifting, his tall and slender frame adopts a subtle rhythm, a stance almost impossible to trace directly back to Fei Long so much has it been adapted to Alma's own approach. An approach he has mastered--
"Please, don't hold back!"
--if not perfected.
"Hrraah!"
But practice makes perfect.
All at once, a flare of pale fire illuminates his right hand, the illusory blaze radiating the oppressive force of a power that can bend and crush wills. When he lunges, it will surge into a lance, blooming around his fist like a deadly blossom, aiming to impact directly against the mighty woman's midsection. The impact may possess physical weight, but the strike is purely against Chun-Li's well-trained and highly-motivated psyche. She will likely realize this immediately. She has surely faced such powers before, under much darker circumstances.
Hopefully, the purity of Alma's motives will be immediately evident.
...Hopefully.

The shining weapon forged of pure fighting spirit swings forward, its aim for Chun-Li's belly true -- until it smashes into the opposition of her crossed forearms. Her spiked training bracelets make a dull thunk as they collide with each other, and the tension of her body makes it clear that her arms will let nothing pass.

Physically, that is. In Chun-Li's mind, the attack hits home, striking at the soft underbelly of her mind, puncturing electric currents. Shecan sense the purity of Alma's motives, indeed, but she shows none of this.

Drawing in a deep breath, Chun-Li is clearly affected by the bolt -- but not deeply so, as if it was a moment's discomfort, a chill wind. She spreads her hands and raises them into a fighting position once more. What is she feeling? Her face holds no answers -- she is focused entirely on the fight.

"Don't worry," Chun-Li says. "I won't."

With that, the World's Strongest Woman swings forward. Her body moves fluidly, dipping to one side and lifting one leg in a blindingly fast motion -- the white heel of her boot seeks to sate its hunger by taking a bite out of the side of Alma's face. Hard.

COMBATSYS: Alma blocks Chun-Li's Medium Kick.

Alma             0/-------/-----==|=------\-------\0          Chun-Li

Oh, heavens.
"Guhh!"
No, she won't.
Alma can't help but grimace as his forearm shields the impact of the blow, braced against his own skull; even though that cushion, the reverberations rattle his teeth. Those legs are as ridiculous as they look. If he hesitates--
"Now--!"
But, he won't.
The flame that once suffused his fist now spontaneously erupts about his right foot as he sweeps out his own leg even as he guards, grounded firmly on his left leg while his right aims a powerful kick of his own, force heightened significantly by the earthly momentum his otherworldly energy generates. That white fire, traced with vibrant ley lines of cherry-blossom pink and royal indigo, aim to carve Chun-Li's own leg right out from under her before she can return to a more balanced fighting stance.
If he succeeds, he'll spin and tag her with a second kick before she collapses, buoyed by the generated power -- levitating more than jumping -- into a third and final explosive roundhouse kick.
"Huuah!"
And if he doesn't, well, hopefully he'll at least fly out of range.

COMBATSYS: Chun-Li dodges Alma's Rising Fury.

Alma             0/-------/------=|=------\-------\0          Chun-Li

Not only do Chun-Li's legs put out an insane amount of attack power -- they move with a flexibility and swiftness that no muscle that densely built should be able to achieve. Perhaps she has become...

...bionic.

But that's all conjecture, and here is a hard science fact: Alma's first kick whizzes through thin air, because Chun-Li is suddenly not where he thought she was. Instead, she's to his side. "You're fast," Chun-Li says. She's dead serious, but her tone is neither grim nor menacing. Even caught in the heat of combat, she dispenses helpful advice. "But speed is nothing -- without precision!"

And that's when Chun-Li's arms swing out of nowhere, one of them grabing at Alma's shoulders -- while her leg moves to kick his ankle out from under him with a swift flick of her heel. It's not an elaborate or fancy takedown, but sometimes it's the little things that are the most effective. Unless they miss. Then they're just useless.

COMBATSYS: Chun-Li successfully hits Alma with Quick Throw.

[        \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\  < >  ////////////////////////////  ]
Alma             0/-------/---====|=------\-------\0          Chun-Li

Who knew you could have both speed /and/ precision?
Well, nobody told Alma, but Chun-Li is telling him now. As it were. "Wh--" Even a psychic doesn't stand a chance against such a swift and, well, precise maneuver. Before he can even begin to escape, Alma is plucked from the air as he rises, and being totally off-balance after whiffing his kick, he ends up in a similar position to what he himself had hoped to capitalize upon. Limbs akimbo, he twists wildly and, being so low to the ground, is unable to catch his own fall in time, landing heavily upon his shoulder instead of his palms. He grunts, but rolls to his feet quickly--
Toward her, not away.
Teeth grit in determination, the Radiant Phoenix regains a little of his grace in his sleek movement up to a crouching position, his advance deceptive -- hopefully -- in its speed. Even before he fully regains his balance, with the rhythm of a rising tide he twists into a feint, faking like he's about to kick. In fact, he's had enough of trying to attack Chun-Li's legs. He can go home and kick down brick walls more fruitfully. The rotation instead gives him the torque he needs to plow an open palm toward Chun-Li's midriff with all the force he possesses, aiming to take her breath away.

COMBATSYS: Chun-Li interrupts Strong Punch from Alma with Kikouken.

[            \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\  < >  /////////////////////////     ]
Alma             1/------=/=======|===----\-------\0          Chun-Li

Alma comes up fast -- and precisely -- but Chun-Li is just as quick. She expects the feint, because she possesses the greatest skill of all fighters: a woman's intuition. Either that, or a Spidey-Sense. Either way, she's not so easy to fool.

Still, it's a bit of a sacrifice fly move on her part. Because to pull off what she plans, she has to eat the kick to her stomach. It's just that a half second before it connects: "KIKOUKEN!"

Chun-Li's palms come together at the wrists and thrust at a downward angle, blasting Alma in the face with a ball of billiant, soulful, totally diesel chi. And then, a half second later, she's kicked in the stomach, which causes her to grunt in pain and stagger backwards.

She has /really/ hard abs.

It is insane.

Ffffff--
"Guaagh!"
--abulous.
There's no breaking this fall, or maintaining this dignity. Alma Towazu collapses with a resounding thud, eliciting eager applause from a still-untired audience, some of whom even recognize the youth despite his new scars. Only a moment for breath passes before the Scarred Angel kip-ups to his feet, shaking his head to clear it before grinning slightly, a bit lopsidedly.
"Just as the rumors say..."
It /is/ insane.
"You're an incredible warrior!"
He can't give it up.
"Hrrrahh!"
Triumph or die!
Blurring forward with inward-turned psychic energy, Alma leaves hazy after-images in his wake, partially obscuring the movements of his interweaving limbs. Fists twist into a series of hammering jabs. He sees only to break her guard. The blows are relatively light, and he remains set in his stance, carefully testing her for any possible vulnerability. There must be some way. There must be something.
He must be able to get through.
She can't be... invincible.

COMBATSYS: Chun-Li dodges Alma's Spring Shower.

Alma             1/------=/=======|===----\-------\0          Chun-Li

Chun-Li is probably not invincible, but to test that theory, one has to hit her first. She spins out of the way of Alma's blurred charge, feet sliding apart in what is both a sick dance maneuver and a means of getting back into an attack-ready stance.

SOME TIME AGO

"But Master," Chun-Li says, "I don't really see how this has anything to do with Tai Chi!"

Gen kicks Chun-Li in the boob so hard her other boob feels it. She lets out a whiny sound, clutching her chest and falling to one knee. "SILENCE!" Gen rumbles, swishing his beard dramatically. "From this point on -- NO SPEAKING!"

Gen points at the cardboard he's laid down next to a huge honking 80s ghetto blaster. On cue, "Beat Bop" by Rammellzee and K-Rob begins to play.

"Until I say so," Gen orders, fire in his eyes, "POPPING and LOCKING will be your new way of TALKING!"

Chun-Li solemnly begins to breakdance.

NOW

Chun-Li summons the ultimate power of all of her breakdance training -- and flips her body upside down, whirling herself like a miniature tornado, and seeking to batter Alma into oblivion with her legs!

"SPINNING -- BIRD -- KICK!"

COMBATSYS: Alma interrupts Spinning Bird Kick EX from Chun-Li with Divine Intervention EX.

Alma             1/-======/=======|======-\-------\0          Chun-Li

It's now or never.
Her agility is outrageous. Alma strains to the limit to not only match her speed, which is impossible for him, but time her movements, which is-- /theoretically/ possible. What saves him is the pre-conceived grounding of his stance; regardless of the results of his assault, he was prepared for an immediate counter-attack.
Though it would have been helpful to connect.
"Hrrrh--!"
Teeth grit, his marred pretty face set with the intensity of his passion for this battle, Alma braces himself, successful guarding the first kick as it hammers home, swaying inevitably from the impact. Not yet, not yet. He has to time this perfectly.
But he's had plenty of training...
SOME TIME AGO
Alma shoots a beam of light through Dr. Tran's eye socket.
He proceeds to repeat this act about thirty times over several years.
NOW
"Now!"
Unintentionally verbalizing, Alma, his legs trembling from blocking the third tornado-like blow, finally sees his chance, his right palm snapping out, suddenly aglow. With a cry to the heavens a piercing light shines forth, cutting through to the heart of the matter as he slashes with his arm, blasting her away with all his might.
He promptly sags, almost to his knees. He hardly feels triumphant.
He's just grateful the pain is briefly over.
"Wh... what a woman..."

Chun-Li is knocked away, right to the edge of the circle of people watching. She skids on the pavement, tearing her tights and opening up some raw red scrapes on bared skin. She lays there for only a second, before slowly rising to her feet.

The World's Strongest Woman looks a little winded and a little banged-up, but still ready to go. Like, now. "I appreciate the compliment!" she says, graciously, with a smile.

That's one second. The next, there is absolutely nothing on Chun-Li's mind but kicking Alma in the face so hard that he spontaneously regrows his virginity in ways he's never even lost it yet, somehow. It's not as graceful as her previous attempts to destroy him, but the raw power of the attempted strike radiates off of her like underground heat from Chernobyl.

The Lady Has Got No Mercy.

COMBATSYS: Alma dodges Chun-Li's Fierce Kick.

Maybe it's talent. Maybe it's experience.
Maybe it's sheer desperation.
All at once, Alma's eyes flare the bright white of the sea of flame within, the sincerity of his hazel orbs obscured by a raw and undeniable power. His body shudders once in the split-second before a white-booted foot aims to pulp what remains of his face. As ever, her speed and precision are unquestionable, and the force behind that kick is-- not worth thinking about. His guard would be shattered. He would not endure.
"Hrrn!"
Alma Towazu, First Hero of Taizhou, chooses the only possible option.
He disappears.
His image blurs and vanishes. There is a breathless moment after Chun-Li's kick whiffs where it's quite imaginable that he's somehow simply fled-- and who would blame him?
"HAA!"
And then, all at once, he is behind her, moving even before he materializes, the full brunt of his psychic abilities and training bringing him to this point, where, brimming with passion, he may defy even time and space themselves in pursuit of his glorious ends. His fingertips shine with all the light of the sun. And, his whole heart straining toward contact, he reaches out between those tightly-bound hair-buns, aiming to just tag her, just once, atop the skull-- and release the fullness of his being within her, the force of everything that he is sweeping against her will.
It's a big Psycho Power bomb. The two of them become silhouettes in the brightness of the blast that follows. But as for how they fare, well--
Only when the glare clears will the audience know.

COMBATSYS: Chun-Li blocks Alma's Absolution.

[                  \\\\\\\\\\\\  < >  ///////////////////           ]
Alma             0/-------/----===|======-\-------\0          Chun-Li

Chun-Li isn't so cynical as to assume Alma has fled. Instead, she does what anyone in her position should do when it looks like one's opponent has vanished -- she goes to DefCon A Billion. She can defend against the blow easily enough. She expects Alma to try and surprise her, so when he materializes behind her, her arms are already snapping up, hands snatching to try and catch him by the forearm. It doesn't stop him from donking her right on the head, though.

And when the glare fades and the scene has settled, Chun-Li is still standing, having taken the totality of Alma's psychic being and carried it on her shoulders like a weight -- and thrown it off before it could crush her. She releases Alma's arm, and without a word, slowly turns around to face him. There's eye contact -- Chun-Li might be sizing him up. She also might be re-assessing him. In any event...

What Chun-Li does next is to press her hands together again, and bow. Has the fight ended? Is she conceding?

Of course not, don't be a moron. After rising from her bow, Chun-Li emits a shrill cry and unleashes about infinity plus one kicks toward Alma's face, chest, and throat. It is a total kickzkrieg, because that bow wasn't Chun-Li ending the fight -- it was her signaling that only /now/ has it truly begun.

COMBATSYS: Chun-Li successfully hits Alma with Hyakuretsu Kyaku.

Alma             1/-------/=======|=======\-------\1          Chun-Li

If this is a kickzkrieg--
"Guuuah!"
Alma's Maginot Line is thoroughly penetrated.
How do you stop that many kicks? You don't. How do you endure such an assault? You can't. But the Thrice-Born Hero tries, and for his trouble may end up needing a fourth birth. Shuddering under the thunderous onslaught of blows, his legs quaking, then no longer even supporting him as the blur of attacks lifts him off the ground, the psychic feels his well-trained mind become a blur.
He's heard of this legendary technique.
It's an honor to be crushed by it, really.
But since a defeatist attitude is unlike Alma-- no, it's impossible for him. Any moment now, he will be utterly finished, the last of his resolve shattered; another second longer and he'll be blasted out of range, and may not rise again. His spirit rebels against surrender. He still--
"Uuuuuaahh!!"
He still has yet more to give!
The front-row audience members who have learned forward to admire Chun-Li's signature kicks must immediately shield their eyes as, once again, Alma ignites with blinding fire-- but this time, his assault is much more unrestrained. Precision is, alas, abandoned, but given his proximity, speed may, if he is fortunate, be all he needs, for as his Soul Power reacts viscerally to save his skin, it becomes what can only be described as a pillar of light, a geyser of scintillating energy that cuts up to the heavens above, and aims to halt the Strongest Woman's assault by consuming them both.
Naturally, this only hurts one of them.

COMBATSYS: Chun-Li overcomes Full Confession EX from Alma with Kikoushou.

Alma             0/-------/-------|-------\-------\0          Chun-Li

Alma's soul power rises into a column of light like the soul power of a 1972 Isaac Hayes live show, and threatens to destroy Chun-Li just as swiftly as Isaac Hayes destroyed crime when he was Truck Turner. There is no power that can overcome Alma's torrent of metaphysical laser light -- none except the power of Chun-Li's own soul.

As it turns out, focusing on fighting and justice (or vengeance, or whatever) to the exclusion of all else can leave someone with a surprisingly pure soul. But more than that, it gives her focus -- she is capable of taking that energy that seems to drive all great fighters except Haggar (who is driven by beef), and pushing it outward. Chun-Li's wrists come together again, palms opening outward, toward Alma...

...and a ball of blue light burns around her, expanding around the Full Confession's base so that the whole thing looks kind of like an eye-scorching bong.

"KI -- KOU -- SHOOOUUU!" Chun-Li cries, face tight, expression nothing short of monomaniacal as she counters soul with soul.

COMBATSYS: Alma negates Kikoushou from Chun-Li with Sacred Wave.

Alma             0/-------/-------|-------\-------\0          Chun-Li

The result is photographed by one lucky soul with a phone camera, and quickly sweeps the fighting blogosphere.
First, Alma Towazu's pillar of purity renders them both shadows within a tunnel of light once again. Then, from within that very geyser, like a mighty rock splitting the path of a waterfall Chun-Li's own spirit cleaves through that relentless flow, emerging as a pulsing orb that expands the base of Alma's assault, threatening to split it asunder entirely.
With a soundless cry, Alma is seemingly projected from the source of his own attack. In fact, invisible to the onlookers, he has lurched back instinctively, with blinding reflexes, so as to accomodate for his opponent's surge of energy. By doing so, he not only buys himself a split-second of time, but allows his previous attack to remain where it is, the pillar of Soul Power slowly petering out but slowing the expansion of the Kikoushou.
Just for a second.
"Houu!"
And a second is all he needs.
With the surety and swiftness of a man in a complete trance, Alma Towazu sweeps out an arm, launching a final bolt of pure white at the opposite side of his own Confession, just as Chun-Li's growing orb is beginning to pierce through. And there is a magnificent splash, an outrageous moment, in which the pinks and purples that cut to the sky rest upon a base of blue that mingles with a milky white effervesence.
The result-- is a perfect equilibrium.
The energy disperses as abruptly as it manifested.
Alma Towazu is left, chest heaving, hand outstretched, blinking against the light, his own lips softly parted in surprise. Surprise that he escaped that, surprise that he survived. He can barely stand.
But he can hear the murmurs of the crowd.
Softly, ever so slightly, he smiles at his opponent.

At the very least, Chun-Li is no longer making the battle look quite so effortless. The one-woman Shadaloo wrecking machine is breathing heavily in the aftermath of that energy maelstrom, sweat beaded on her face. She's got better manners than to allow herself to sag or double over -- but it doesn't take much detective work to make an educated guess that she might want to.

When Alma smiles, Chun-Li does not. Instead, the woman raises one eyebrow subtly, her expression serious... and she nods, once, as if to confirm that while she's impressed, the fight hasn't ended /yet/.

Furthering this idea is Chun-Li's next move, which is to swing one arm out, to try and lock under Alma's elbow and armpit, forcing one side of his ribcage into an exposed position. And if that succeeds, well...

...it's not like Alma was using that stomach for anything. Or maybe he was. All the same, a knee rockets upward like Estonia was Cape Canaveral putting the first patella into space.

The fight hasn't ended yet.
Or, uh, has it?
Alma Towazu, man of formidable will, faces his opponent with courage gathered and mind steeled. His smile does not need to be reciprocated; his expression of satisfaction is his own. The thrill of this battle-- he hasn't experienced anything like it in months. Mortal combat has its appeal, its own bloody intimacy. But this-- whatever those afficianados of the more cold-blooded arts may claim, Alma will always believe--
/This/ is purer.
Yes, his spirit surges as never before.
Too bad, uh, his body won't seem to--
"Gghh!"
--move.
Up he goes, spiralling like a rag doll. Down he plummets, hitting the cobbles like a sack of potatos. The scarred beauty stirs once. Slowly, laborously, he lurches to his knees, eyes fogged, head swaying. He's never before gone down without a fight. Never has his resolve whatever. In a moment such as this, he must, absolutely, give his all. Vision blurred, half-blind, he reaches out, detecting his opponent sheerly by her indomitable aura. His hand quivers, signalling his efforts.
A single spark flies. The Phoenix blinks in genuine surprise.
He can't. He actually can't.
And Alma smiles again, eyelids heavy--
"I... concede."

Chun-Li rests her hands on her hips, watching Alma's struggle. Her expression is a skeptical one -- chin lifted, eyes a bit narrowed, she frowns thoughtfully. Then Alma concedes, and falls, and in the flash of a moment everything about Chun-Li's body language shifts over to the left a bit.

For one, the World's Strongest Woman adopts a much softer expression -- she steps toward Alma to help the young man up, with the gentle care of someone whose maternal urges struggle endlessly with their childlessness. "Easy, Alma Towazu. There's no shame in concession -- only in not having tried at all." Chun-Li smiles now, although Alma may or may not be conscious enough to see it.

All the same, Chun-Li helps the traveling fighter over to where the medical personnel eagerly(?) await another victim of her violence. Finding her next opponent will be difficult -- after all that, who would dare volunteer?
