She seems to know what you were here for, what you needed to do. "Don't hate them," she says quietly. "They're only following his wishes, those boys.."
"I met him once, you know." Who? "He looks at you with such fire in his eyes. He gave me something, an idea. He told me that it was his wish to change the world. That the only way to do so was to give them no other choice but to accept it. Their destiny, that is.."
"He told me .. that he was responsible for what happened to my father. That he intended to do that and more. I suppose I should have hated him for it... but there was something else. Mm." She seems uncomfortable with that part. Instead she continues. "He said they would come. That.. well.." she looks back. ".. people like you would stop him."
"He said the nature of the weapon he built was to be stopped. I think he gave his all into making a second. He said he would save ourselves with it. When I spoke with Tao," he says, using his Chinese name, "he was very interested in knowing the location of such a weapon. I don't know much about that. But he..Ryouhara..said if I became strong enough to face him, to meet him in Huangyan, at what would remain of the Bantiankong Chemicals Building."
She steps to the window, and looks out. "I think it was on a whim that he told me these things. As if the secret didn't matter. But he gave me an idea, which set me on this path. Even if the idea is fatal.. I'll see it to its end. Maybe I'll see him again. Maybe I can be proud when I do so."
There is the distinct sense that when she says 'I', she doesn't truly mean herself.
Even a blossom made of silk must one day wilt.

What you also learn is the nature of the Shouten Muketsu as it relates to the 46 Boys. There is an extra file on this, but what you'll learn is that since the Huangyan bombing, the 46 Boys had received unnatural amounts of support, and that they shortly began to declare that they ran law in the town, which they began to enforce with some ferocity. They took control of any gang that refused to fall into line and dissolved it.
Generally speaking, no killing was allowed in the city after a mysterious group began to act on the 46 Boys. This had to do with the natal form of the Shouten Muketsu. Effectively, while crime and corruption have increased nearly a hundredfold in the region, murder is now outlawed by the outlaws, which is the big thing that Li Hua knows about the Shouten.

FILE 002: SANCTUM, JINCHUU SECOND TOURNAMENT CENTER
In addition to being the name of a network in Taizhou, Sanctum is also
the name of the tournament center where all information concerning
Jinchuu Second is initially released and concentrated, located on the
northern outskirts of Taizhou City's Luqiao district not far from the
Huangyan district. A large complex, it possesses many facilities and
amenities, including a matchmaking/computer lobby, full shelter, library,
cafeteria, gym/duel arena and a well supplied but unstaffed infirmary.
Sanctum is administrated entirely through a mix of computer automation
and remote transmission; there are no tournament officials in the
building, and fighters are more or less free to roam around at will, but
please do not interfere with or attempt to destroy items inside Sanctum.
While the building is extremely well reinforced against attacks both
interior and exterior, damaging objects inside the building may cause
fatal malfunctions. These malfunctions may or may not be responsible for
the vandal's immediate victory detonation.

FILE 003: THE CITY OF TAIZHOU
Taizhou is a highly advanced prefecture level city in the Zhejiang
province of China, with a total land area of about 3600 square miles,
roughly the size of Puerto Rico, or a little over twice the size of Rhode
Island.
While on the same administrative size as an American county, Taizhou is
additionally divided into nine smaller districts, villages, towns,
county-level cities, agencies and counties. Taizhou may be considered a
megacity, where such a term is applicable. For ease of reference, these
smaller administrative segments will communally be referred to as
districts, with the exception of Linhai and Wenling Town.
Notably, the districts of Luqiao and Huangyan make up the 'actual area'
of Taizhou City proper, while the other seven districts are actually more
the surrounding regions of the overall Taizhou municipality.
Additionally, Linhai and Wenling are developed and populated enough to be
considered cities in their own right, but are still under the
jurisdiction of Taizhou proper; it's similar in concept to the buroughs
of New York.
The city has fallen on hard times lately; with the July 2008
firebombing of the Huangyan dictrict and the extended efforts to recover
and restore the area, most of the advanced Taizhou's economy has been
crippled, and the city now depends largely on the Chinese government to
continue its operation and support many of its desolate and displaced
citizens. Many of the regions in the Huangyan district have officially
been declared a disaster area, though the status of recovery in the area
have been vastly overemphasized and played up by the government as a form
of information control.

FILE 004: NIRVANA, THE WORLD UNDERNEATH
Nirvana is the code name for Taizhou. Or more specifically, the code
name for the world that exists underneath the civic veneer of Taizhou
City proper.
After the 2008 Huangyan bombing, strong economic shifts in the
community allowed dark forces to overtake the city underneath the local
government's notice. In combination with the local enforcement being tied
up largely with rote peacekeeping and recovery efforts in Huangyan, a
surge in criminality in the city has created an area rife with shadow
dealings and corruption. In this setup, civil servants make bargains with
people for the good of their lives and their city, while gangs and
syndicates apparently rule the streets.
However, it is not without cost. There exists a code of law in the city
that is obeyed beyond even the civil law in the country, for which no one
has escaped the grievous penalty of. That is the bargain extended to the
lawless of the world to find unimaginable prosperity within the city's
walls. Most major players abiding by this deal refer to this as the
Nirvana setup as a result. Some are even almost fanatically devoted to
the bargain, as many rags to riches stories have resulted for this
tradeoff.

FILE 013: THE 46 BOYS
Prior to the Hououdan bombing incident, Taizhou City was home to larger
number of small gangs and influences. However, in the past two years a
single Sanhehui (Triad Society) gained dominance and control over all
other regional, contesting and branch gangs in the area, uniting them
under their group, the 46 Boys. While many deals pertaining to drug and
weapons smuggling occur in the city under their eye, the 46 Boys
themselves primarily gain income through the operation of the
entertainment and carjacking businesses in the region, most of their
other activities gaining great deprecation over the years.
While initially the 46 Boys were a smaller group of stray dogs who
generally referred to themselves as '46ers' to demonstrate their down to
earth status, the 46 Boys have enjoyed a rapid rise in prominence over
the past two years. This has extended to the point where they consider
themselves the definitive law of the underground in Taizhou, threatening
dire consequences for anyone who breaks their system of rules in the
city.
In their prominence, they have reorganized themselves several times in
a system of bloody challenges and wars. Most of their group is divided
into two types of people colloquially: Rough Boys, who tend to be
craftier than they are strong, and Tough Boys, who tend to be the
opposite. Though the traditional organizational structure of Triad
societies as adhered to in the 46 Boys, its importance has been vastly
deprecated with the appearance of a single enforcer (red pole) who has
taken control of much of the 46 Boys' conventional structure but has not
elected to rename himself as a different rank.
More than once, it has been suggested to almost assuredly violent
reprisal that the 46 Boys have been subverted by the Japanese forces.

FILE 046: JI ZHOU, FIST OF THE STREETS
Name: Zhou, Ji
Vital: Male, 19 years of age
Style: Triad Knifeboxing
He is known by the curved red mark below his left eye. Self-described
strongest fighter of the Boys, Ji is a boxer from lower Linhai. While
originally he was just a contract fighter in part of the 46ers'
underground fighting rings, Ji became prominently known for knocking out
a well-known regional fighter twice his size in one hit in the semifinals
of a competition. He was offered a job by the local gang leader as a Red
Pole Enforcer and has since gained a lot of respect as a Tough Boy in the
group. While he does not seem to possess much in the way of outward chi
manipulation, he is a smooth operating puncher, not above using knives,
batons, staffs or really anything on hand to get the job done.
Ji supports his family with his dealings, especially after his father
was put out of a job by the Huangyan bombing, but they largely cannot
abide by his lifestyle choice. As a result, Ji has become increasingly
more concerned with the new system of 'honorable law' in Taizhou and has
chosen to enforce them throughout all levels of the organization and
beyond, even going so far as to fight the group's leader directly on one
occaision. While he gained the right to ascend to formal leadership after
this, he elected to keep his low-slung status in the group, making him
not /a/ enforcer of the 46 Boys, but /the/ enforcer.

The woman on the edge of both worlds. Elegant and refined, Li Hua is
a lounge singer primarily known for frequenting the club circuit between
Shanghai and Zhejiang. She lives in Taizhou City, but has recently fallen
on some hard times with the Huangyan bombing incident putting much of her
higher-class clientele out of business, causing her to fall into a large
accurement of debt with the 46 Boys and now sings at one of their
nightclubs, the Shao Jiao. While before she could have been considered a
soulless entertainer, her moods have shifted more to the introspective in
recent months, leading to a disposition that is completely unconcerned
with her own well-being.
Though primarily known for her lounge act as the Silk Blossom, Li Hua
can play the saxophone, the piano and the violin and has produced several
instrumental pieces. Some of her contemporaries and similes have been
named as Kaori Kobayashi and Massive Attack. Her songs are denoted by
their traditional slow and seductive style which has earned her a small
group of loyal fans. Some of her most well known songs are 'Starlight,'
'Mercurial You,' and her latest song, 'Gray Mourning.'

FILE 080: TRANSMISSION: THE DECLARATION
One week after his death, the image appears everywhere.
It lasts 94 seconds. It appears on store display flatscreens and living
room televisions alike. Military communications are jammed as the signal
appears on almost every radio frequency, causing cell phones and
satellite TVs to temporarily become unusable. The massive video
billboards in Metro Square and Shibuya in Southtown are blasted with
static as three lilting tones clears the air across the entire world.
The static clears, but only just so. A grainy full-color image of three
leaves swirling around a center appears, replete with artifacts and the
'travelling line' crosstalk noise. They are errors in both digital and
analog broadcast, as if the signal has had to travel through several
mediums before arriving.
The symbol disappears, cutting to a dark room with a single light.
Underneath that light, the face of the shinobi engineer appears, calm and
pristine as if he were still alive. "I am Ryouhara Seishirou," he says
plainly.
"And I am sick of this world."
"Every day you live your lives as if you have nothing to govern you.
Weak willed petulants who only know how to bully the weak and the infirm.
Politicians, thugs and whores, who know nothing of real sacrifice and a
world without limitation. This world must be properly civilized. My
colleagues and I will build a new land, one where even the lawless obey

The crosstalk line folds the Ryouhara symbol as it travels the length
of the broadcast. The screen shuffles slightly before the hold locks.
There is no video to accompany the transmission, but the voice--crackling
and strained through the odd broadcast--is unmistakably Seishirou's.
"Alright. To those of you that successfully survived the trial of
entering Nirvana, know that you've been welcomed, but by no means is this
over."

the processes of my ninkougakujutsu aboard the Suiryuu, the

FILE 103: "SAINT" CASIMIR SUDOU, THE MAD KINDNESS
Name: Sudou, Casimir ("Saint")

Style: Personal Torture Style
A kind wandering halfblooded priest from Romania in the fifth
intelligence unit of Kagero, the man largely known only as 'the Saint' is
a dangerous subject in the underworld. Existing largely only as an
underworld rumor, he is said to be the mad dog of Kagero, and those who
have met him find it difficult to keep their voice from cracking when
speaking about him. An ordained priest, he wields great mental powers
purported to be of a holy arcana, but the nightmarish methods invoked by
his abilities make this difficult to believe.
Paradoxically kind and vicious at once, Saint is unrelentingly mad in
his devotion to his religion. He believes that pain is the perfect
expression of God's love, and that there is no greater mercy in the world
than to send someone to meet Him. In this expression of psychotic mercy,
it is truly difficult to hurt or intimidate the priest--he loves pain as
much as he believes inflicting it is his solemn duty. When he comes to
you, you will understand.

FILE 110: MAROU WAKAMOTO, GENIUS PROFITEER

Style: Personal Saboteur Style
One of "Three Wise Men," the accountsmasters managing the funding for
the Kagero organization in the sixth logistics unit, Marou is a
self-proclaimed 'high priest' of the Shouten doctrine, claiming his sole
mission in life is to support Ryouhara's attempts to change the world by
increasing Kagero's wealth to unimaginable proportions. However with the
ninja's supposed death, Wakamoto's resolve has wavered in his disbelief,
causing him to become bitter, cynical, and disillusioned with the entire
facade.
Some believe Wakamoto was only feigning loyalty until Ryouhara's death,
but the profiteer at least seems genuine. He believes no one in Kagero
has the ability to lead as Seishirou did, and that everyone in the group
should separate and go their own ways with portions of the massive
windfall that is the Ryouhara clan's estate. Wakamoto is one of the few
who exists in official records in Kagero, having connections to both of
the companies Ara Heavy Industries and Jinchuu Entertainment
International, technology development and entertainment distribution
companies, respectively.
It is widely believed that Wakamoto has no fighting skills of his own,
but this is actually untrue, as the former arms merchant has a
ex-military background, and has over time become increasingly familiar
with the use of the Ryouhara clan's 'ninkoujutsu,' just for the occaision
this sort of situation would arise.

FILE 121: NIRVANA'S DEFENSES
Over the two years that Taizhou City was under the control of Kagero,
several strategies and methods of defense were developed in preparation
for the coming trials that Jinchuu Second would impose on the city, its
inhabitants and the challenged. Most of these are forms of ninkou
produced by the seventh engineering unit of Kagero, but some are
innovations and mainstays of the Ryouhara clan, including specialized
environments, weapons, and equipped troops.
The purpose of these strategies are obviously to serve as trials for
those strong enough to endure them, but many of these are also intended
to serve as perimeter deterrants against militaries foreign and domestic,
ensuring that the integrity of Nirvana remains intact long enough for an
unseen plan to unfold.

FILE 124: SHINSEIKASEN, THE CONSECRATING LIGHT
This is a design based off of the Rengehou, a shoulder-mounted cannon
designed by the genius Ikou Ryouhara and used by the former executive of
Kagero. A vastly scaled-up design mounted to the roof of the Bantiankong
Chemical Building, Shinseikasen is a ninkou that is intended to represent
the power of 'ultimate authority' within the range of Nirvana.
It is a large architecture primarily comprised of floating ofuda slowly
revolving around the main barrel of a sit-down turret cannon. However
there is no open barrel to the cannon, only a large kanji engraving. This
is because Shinseikasen is not a conventional laser, but moreover a chi
compression weapon. The seals that revolve around it compress massive
amounts of energy until the weapon releases a giant white beam in the
direction of its target, and has enough power to shear a building in half
on full charge.
Making use of the absolute limits of calculation jutsu, Shinseikasen
can target anything within the city in which it's placed, and can
alternate the harmonics of its realease to fire the beam in any
particular path. It does this via a chi projection seal which focuses on
and displays targets in a simplified form. Targetted objects will
experience an arcane marked seal floating somewhere on their person and a
tingling sensation briefly before being consecrated via extreme
incandescence. Because this beam tracks the seal, it is difficult, but
not impossible to evade.
However, Shinseikasen relies on external sensory seals to achieve its
maximum range, which requires some preparation work. It requires an
amount of time varying from ten minutes to a full half hour to cool down
and recharge for another shot. Additionally, it has massive power
requirements, enough to drain an entire city of power for the duration of
its fire. Only the activated Katsuten annihilation field can power the
weapon without incident.

FILE 155: BAN-KUN SERIES, ROGUE AUTOMATA
A series of autonomous ninkou driven by primitive logic and sensory
seals created by Ryouhara. While the initial version, the Alpha series,
were intended to be rudimentary training devices, successive versions
have added relatively more autonomy and combat capability to the series,
and extends into the Gamma range.
The most advanced active version to date is the Ban-kun Delta P4N-D4,
but there are more advanced versions in development.

FILE 165: NINKOUGAKUJUTSU
"Ninkougakujutsu," variably referred to as "ninkoujutsu" or "ninkou"
for short, is a theory of martial weapons creation first coined by the
Ryouhara shinobi clan in Edo period Japan. Made up of several words, the
term basically means "Ninja Engineering Arts." This is the Ryouhara's way

A "ninkou" is therefore a "ninja craft" and can be used to reference
any semi-arcane martial device created with shinobi logic. The Katsuten -
Hiroshima bomb is an example of a ninkou, as the Byakuren Hagoromo
haori-coat that Seishirou Ryouhara wears. A ninkou can have any number of
applications or uses. Additionally, the kugujutsu used by the seventh
Kagero unit's Yuu would also be considered ninkou by the Ryouhara's
standards.
It is important to note that ninkou itself was not popularized as a
term by the Ryouhara, and as such tends to externally refer to the
Ryouhara machinations by the few that would know of it.

FILE 201: SHOUTEN MUKETSU, THE IMMACULATE RIGHT LAW
A motif and system of law said to be written by Seishirou Ryouhara
himself. It was installed into the Taizhou underworld region after the
Huangyan bombing incident. The 'Shouten,' for short, exists as an
apparent motif taken from Taoist belief styles to contrast the primarily
Buddhist leanings of the Ryouhara clan and Nirvana itself. The law
primarily deals with the concept that limitations are only an illusion
and that success is primarily dictated by perseverance and cost. They are
as follows:
1. Everyone must stand on their own
2. We are immortal until dishonored
3. Walk the trail of fire
4. Will and mind are strength and speed
5. Write your own legend
6. Settle for nothing but victory
0. Above all, honor the night
Within Nirvana, this law is to be obeyed without exception and is
ruthlessly enforced by anyone that subscribes to it. While most do not
know the exact letter of the code, the spirit of it exists in many
derivative versions pervasive throughout the city's numerous gangs. The
closest analogue exists within the local Triads group, the 46 Boys.
The thugs and criminals that disobey it have either been hospitalized
for months at a stretch, or have disappeared entirely. Therein lies an
interesting tenet of the Shouten as it applies to Nirvana: while the
penalties are truly incomprehensible, most versions and interpretations
of the Shouten tend to agree that killing, at least within Nirvana, is
almost completely unconscionable.

FILE 1008: THE BANTIANKONG CHEMICALS BUILDING
A 50 floor storage, engineering and refinery building deep in the
center of the Huangyan district, the Bantiankong Chemicals Building is
the site of a derelicted company that went bankrupt shortly after the
Huangyan bombing incident due to its already flagging stock in the wake
of several high-profile safety accidents in the building. Somewhat
ironically, it is also known as one of the few buildings that has
remained almost completely intact prior to the bombing, albeit rendered
largely inaccessible conventionally because of a collapsed hotel in the
region.
The company's motto was "BANTIANKONG CHEMICALS: A better hope for a
greener future!" and was also prior to its stock crash one of the larger
names in the manufacturing region of Taizhou City. Now, though its
building mysteriously retains power, it is rumored to be haunted now, and
retains power despite massive outages in the district.
If you can make it to the top floor, this file will grant you access to
the building's penthouse.

The ghost terrorist's declaration bears teeth. It starts as a massive pulse in the earth. A crushing wave emanating from the Huangyan region, the great weapon awakens, a slumbering dragon proving it's existence yet again to the unwise and blasphemous. The wave -- best described as a field of force -- itself topples several of the still-standing buildings in Huangyan, and damages several more in the process. While no one dies in the buckling blast, the force is enough to knock people standing in the streets clear off their feet.
Lightning and strange energy winds through the curtain of clouds over the sky, blooming in a massive spectral network of painful light that lights up the air even at night. Minutes later, your ears grow accustomed to the crackling in the sky. Hours later, you realize it's a storm.
Days later, you realize it's not going away.
Shadowy forms shift from the rubble in the dark, as if obeying the siren call of that storm. Blades spin and hover in the air, energy wells fill, and the earth shakes as /something/ massive begins to move in the desolated region.
David Tsang frowns out the window, picking up a phone. "Get me the General."

"A disappointing situation, but I suppose it will have to do..." All of those taken to the Dark Place in Linhai were looked after and returned to their rightful locations. But shortly thereafter, Eagle and Yuri will awaken in a nearby Linhai shelter to find messages on their phones. "I need your help. Go to Luqiao. ~Tsang" It turns out that the 46 Boys don't cotton well to having an information leak. Someone's been feeding information to the government about the goings-on in Taizhou, and it's been discovered that the source is Li Hua, a local singer at the Shao Jiao Nightclub. At the behest of a(nother?!) small army of street toughs, Alan and Aranha have been offered a valuable business opportunity: Get Li Hua and bring her to Zhou. At the same time, Eagle and Yuri have been more or less /ordered/ to prevent that from happening. She's singing at the Shao Jiao on Fridays. Who will survive?!
NOTES: Protect, or capture the singer! Provided everyone decides to play nice, you'll be given a Li Hua of your very own! Attempts to attack her (in the middle of her favorite song, no less. Hooligans.) can be stopped and defended against by any other combatant. Keep Li Hua from falling unconscious and she's yours! <3 My, the things that bird has to sing about.

THE THREADS
The threads are glass roads and strands winding through the skyways of Taizhou as a direct result of the weapon awakening inside Taizhou and extending in a field all over the city. Reconfiguring the traversibility of the city on a huge scale for those willing and able to travel on them, these energy constructs can be ridden like the tide, or they can be stood upon like any given road. They can also be destroyed--though not literally, effectively they are made of crystal, and a sufficient blow can collapse the entire strand, causing one to form elsewhere.
THE STORM
Lightning now suffuses every portion of Taizhou. Energy seems to bleed from the ground in massive, huge columns, twisting and roiling across the earth and into the sky like a plague of dust devils. Many of these bolts are benign lighting, but others are capable of tearing buildings in half or turning the sidewalk into soup. Needless to say, this effect is most pronounced in the Huangyan region..
THE ARMY
With the field that's extended over the city, any prior feeling you might have had of something powerful existing there has increased nearly a hundredfold. You can taste the energy in the air, and more distressingly, the defenses marshalled at the beginning of the tournament don't seem to hold a candle to what the police radios are suggesting is going down now. You might want to be careful when you're mucking about in the Huangyan area or upsetting random NPCs..

Internationally, there's been no news from the Chinese government as to the situation in Taizhou for some time now. It seems as if there is no real media coverage at all concerning the incident abroad--most coverage is from well outside the city boundaries, and concerns primarily the mystique of the environment, and the threat it poses to the rest of the world. For some, the danger may truly be too great.
But despite the deafening silence, the clouds still twist overhead in eerie patterns. Everyone sane has taken to hiding in their houses from the arcane forces that rip apart the sky and knit together the earth. Police and all other normal men are nearly nonexistent throughout the city, even in the heavily populated regions. When the sun rises on the day of lightning, it is to an empty street. Now, the only people who are out and about are the city's bravest; those who would walk this land as if it were their own. To this army, the city is given.
If you are brave enough to endure the dangers, Nirvana is truly yours.

Such as the nature of the Bantiankong Chemicals building, a region from which Alan might recognize as the origin of the white beam that almost killed him. They'll be able to investigate the secrets they learned ... just after they get past the encroaching ice field around the building. Operating on intelligence she's managed to crush from the state, she too has found the center of operations there. After enduring the rigors of Huangyan, Kula should be most displeased to see you.

A flight of helicopter rotors beat air as the gunships narrowly evade the electric blasts ripping open the skies as they fly towards the Luqiao region. "Na, na.." Kinori hums over the radio channel, perched on a strand of energy high in the sky. She's a young girl in a long white coat and a gold plate, a breathing apparatus hiding her face. "Do you think they're brave?"
Ujaku, a man wearing an identical uniform and leaning over like an angry hawk, chuckles. "Look at the way they're swerving. Those pilots aren't anything special!" The last, Sai, steps forward. "The government's made their move. I hope they outfitted their men with parachutes. Harrier unit.. pressurize. We've got work to do."

Their caterpillar tracks crush rocks to dust. Main battle tanks, ZTZ-99s, roll out of the sparser Linhai forests in droves, clearing the debris from their treads as they go. Across the field, electronic chirping sounds as relatively diminutive black single-wheeled automata awake, a fleet of red laser sights flickering across the battlefield. They arrive in swarms at the appearances of the tanks in their range of effect, emerging from foxholes and dropping from trees. Cannons open fire, turning the black machines into so many craters as they approach, in zig-zagging patterns. But while the line halts, the machines continue, corkscrewing into the air above, some sliding all the way beneath the great machines..

In the Huangyan region, armored personnel carriers roll past the ruined landscape in droves on their way through to secure a farther district. As they do, they pass a curious idol--a giant panda holding an umbrella over one shoulder, wearing armor, a single sword and a massive scar over one eye.
As the carriers pass, the eye on the panda idol flashes red, and it growls audibly.

The soldiers storm the Yellow Jade building, filling the front courtyard with the sounds of boots, utility belts, and machine guns. Against them, 20 or so well-dressed toughs line up outside the front gates, in an eerie blockade line. "Heh..." Ji Zhou chuckles, as he steps down between his front line leisurely. He sniffs, looking over the gathered soldiers. "This all you got?" he asks lightly. As if triggered, a line of collapsible batons open in series, snapping open behind him, pulsing and crackling with electricity. Ji grins.
"Should've brought a bigger army."

Ryouhara's image flickers on the screen. "This.. h--this--" His image folds in half, corrupting. "--not something--" "--tolerate--" "--world will know--" Finally his image just gives out to the Ryouhara clan symbol wipe screen, and a countdonw appears on-screen: 71:59:58 ..

"Yes, I understand. Yes. Yes. I will withdraw my men." Hanging up his cell, David Tsang Tao immediately dials another number in two keystrokes, frowning. It takes him only a moment to connect. "Hello. It's been some time. I trust you've been observing things. Yes. It seems my superiors have made their move without my recommendation. This could turn out badly for all involved. General Heidern, I have some information for you, but I need.. a favor."

The system has been activated. The Katsuten Annihilation Field has begun to charge up for its final release. The decision has been made to create change in the city by any means necessary, and now the weapon is just 72 hours from activation.
Further complicating the affairs is the complete breakdown of the military state in the city. Beijing has suggested all terrorists have been killed or have left the city of their own volition--unfortunately, your name is very likely to end up on the 'DEAD' list, and it might not just be your name. The military has flooded every possible corner of the region, and now seeks to take command--with all necessary means.
Can you do the same?

It starts as a message that arrives on Wing's phone, apparently from the Sanctum Tournament Center. It's a video cut together--blood. Aranha being thrown against a wall. Running away. A ice-haired young woman stalking him. And a map indicating the location of the Bantiankong Chemical Building. Aranha is in a bad place right now, and when he finds the top of Bantiankong, he finds only an unconscious body--the form of Marou Wakamoto--and an impossibly tall shadow in the darkness--waiting for him. With his partner all but destroyed outside, and Kula hot on his heels, faced with a living nightmare, he's a corpse unless he gets help.
NOTE: Wing should probably take the stairs for this one. The elevators are ..somewhat occupied.

[MISSION:] KULA vs. HEIDERN in "INTERVENTION"
[SHINSEIKASEN]
As the young woman rides the glass elevators up to follow Aranha, she'll notice a white cross-shaped flash of light. And then, the spreading cracks of glass chase up the slowly ascending freight lift. Afterwards, the entire thing shatters, leaving each glass tube completely open-aired, and the lifts just narrowly lifting up the track. A person lands from the sky on the opposite lift--General Heidern. All over Taizhou, the Ikari Warriors have mobilized in attempts to take control of several key sites throughout the area and prevent the activation of the Katsuten bomb. That means the neutralization of any threat within the main sites of the tournament. Starting with Bantiankong, and Kula Diamond.
[STORYLINE:] ALAN vs. VICE in "IN MEMORIAM"
[SHINSEIKASEN]
She finds him bleeding and pinned to the wall at the foot of the massive Bantiankong Chemicals Building. He is impaled on an ice lance longer than he is tall. For all intents and purposes, he is beaten, having given everything he had to give Aranha just one or two scant minutes headstart from the young girl who pursues him. He was given an idea about a world where money didn't matter. A world in which everything that was important to him would have survived. The seeming end of this is his defeat, pinned to the wall. Now, Vice has him exactly where she wants him--and she is intending to have her way with him for the longest time. Except... that idea is piercing. Perhaps it's just survival. Perhaps it's just the strange power of Nirvana itself. Perhaps it /was/ the memory.. But strength wells in Alan's limbs. Power he didn't even realize he had. This young man's story is not yet over.
NOTES: Who tossed that guy an E-Tank? You get to go one on one vs. a crazed Orochi broad out for your throat, Alan. Luckily for you, you get Burning Blood. Don't get cocky though--Vice isn't going to make this easy on you. Not by a long shot.

NOTES: This is a pool of people who have been otherwise pretty decent with matches and might be chock full of storyline and might be on board with a faito. How this will work is generally similar to a paintball match--you tag someone else you might have business with, and fight them. Open invitation, completely optional on both sides. For any NPC, get with me. It's come to my attention that maybe a few of you do not have a clear idea of what's going on in the plot so far. While this is OK on an IC basis, OOCly, it's just not fun, especially in the last two rounds. Luckily for you, that is what bbposts are invented for. For your convenience, WHAT ANY SELF RESPECTING JINCHUU PARTICIPANT WILL KNOW IN A NUTSHELL:
+ SEISHIROU IS (MOSTLY) DEAD - News reports have pretty much made it clear that Seishirou was killed in Taizhou by Rugal before he even announced his tournament. His body has, in fact, even been recovered by the government. The fact that he has announced the tournament and has been sending transmissions regularly from beyond the grave puts his death into serious question, however. Most participants trust he's somewhere off doing something ninjastic.
+ KATSUTEN IS BAD - Starting with this round, a lot of people in Jinchuu will know that the nuclear chi device known as the Hiroshima-type Katsuten is (somewhere) in Nenzhao. The dangers of that area make kind of casually walking in a rough proposal, as Tenma and Zach will tell you if you ask them. Unfortunately, it's been activated, and can't be destroyed or disarmed through most normal means.
+ JIRO DIED - This is actually kind of a buzz throughout town. Someone /died/ out there in Huangyan. This is interesting, because as far as anyone (even civilians) can remember, not too many people have died in Nirvana of violent causes since the original 2008 bombing. There's been plenty of violence. But deaths? Few and far between.
+ THERE IS A SWORD - In the Jinchuu transmissions, Seishirou has made reference to a second weapon. Unbeknownst to most, this is the weapon unlike any other, the Blade of Nirvana. And what a /few/ of you will know and the rest of you need to find out, it's (one of) the only things that is going to be able to destroy the Katsuten bomb. The location of it? Well.. that's actually the subject of this upcoming round..
Some of you who are being sponsored by various sources (Tsang, Wakamoto, Alma, etc.) or have been in contact with a bonafide Kagero agent is going to be able to find out most, if not all of this information by now. I do expect that the information that I've released to some of you to be actually disseminated amongst your various friendlies, as all of you aren't going to be able to get the same information ICly, since all of you are on different paths.
So. That's what you guys absolutely need to know by now.

- Side story! There are two of these in the assignments. Since everyone in this vein has been really good with scenes so far, you guys get an optional fight in accordance with your IC plans and goals, presumably to be completed at some point after your actual matches are done. Of note, Antoine is the only person who shows up in these matches that does not have a normal match assigned. This is because he doesn't have a teammate. Think of him as a secret encounter. Like Noob Saibot. Or Dan! PLEASE KEEP IN MIND that optional matches are just that--optional. They aren't meant to take precidence over your main scene and do not need to be completed. If they are attempted, please attempt to complete them by deadline so I can do judo to them. :o
As the theme of Jinchuu II is mostly about choice, I've noted down in your respective matches where each of your respective matches are going to put you in immediate proximity to for the final round (round five). While there will be a lot of plot judo I'm going to be performing to determine who's holding Shiraha when all's said and done (there's a good five or six people in line right now) there's still a few other objectives:
- SHINSEIKASEN: This is the ninkou beam weapon mounted to the roof of the Bantiankong Chemical Building. Attaining control over this resource will allow you to fire it for as long as Katsuten is active and Shinseikasen is within its power field. While it has an extremely slow rate of fire, it can hit anything within the city from its perch, and can fire quite far out to sea, if necessary. It targets things visibly, but is capable of hitting objects as small as fire hydrants, even around intervening territory such as buildings. More importantly, Shinseikasen is part of the Jinchuu Control Center at the top of Bantiankong. Control of this area gives you control seals capable of operating--deactivating or re-activating--all of the ninkou defenses in the city.
- KATSUTEN: This is the city annihilation weapon at Nenzhao. Control of Katsuten means that you can guard it, take it, attempt to disarm its release sequence (this is a seperate process from actually disarming or deactivating it entirely), or destroy it (PROTIP: you don't want to try that) at your leisure. Katsuten is the power source for most of the ninkou and energy fields that have cropped up in the city.
- SHIRAHA: This is the sword at Dalu Island with the ability to shut down the bomb. The abilities for this weapon are still a little murky in the public consciousness, but it does seem to be a great weapon said to be able to seal the power of the Katsuten..
Keep in mind, guys, I am counting on those of you who are within reasonable distance of the closest technology and have won rights to actually use it to get together and figure out what you want to do. In most cares, a gentleman's agreement will work fine. Other times, you might need to FIGHT IT OUT. Whatever you guys do with it will determine a lot how this plot holds out, and whether last round really is going to be the last round (or for the jerk hitting Katsuten with a hammer, whether /this/ round is the last one).

Use monitors to find out where others are located. In particular, those in relation to Shiraha so Aranha can use Shinseikasen on behalf of someone he believes will help disarm Kasaten.
Determine Alan's status after the fight with Vice and find out if Aranha will need/be able to shoot Vice with the weapon.
Determine whether taking down defenses in certain areas will aid/hinder those seeking to disarm Katsuten.
Determine whether or not Aranha will need to defend Shinseikasen from others within that area.
Determine how much information he can get on other participants in the Jinchuu 2 tournament as well as those within Taizhou. (Can Aranha get ahold of phone numbers/use the control center to pass along information to other participants?)
