Zangief - Winter Sales

Description: On the streets of Moscow one can find many things! Coats, hypothermia, hats, bears, a childs laughter, and ZANGIEF! Paragon of all it means to be to be Russian! When confronted with evil, it is the duty of all men to step forward to do their duty, and Zangief knows this better than most. For instance, he also knows that when confronted with a strange girl stealing from a store, the correct response is to pummel her into oblivion as a lesson for the children of the world. But when that little girl turns out to be the fearsome Shadaloo assassin, Juni, what is the true outcome going to be?!

Russia! Sometime in the year when it isn't middle of August.
It's a perfectly lovely day out, with temperatures in the low teens and snow flurries having yet to totally cover the ground in a 6" pile of fluffy whiteness on top of a layer of frozen mud. It's the kind of weather that speaks true to the heart of Russians, the sort of weather that stops invasions, the sort of weather that any decent Russian peasant traipses through as if barely feeling it.
Not the jungle acclimated Juni, however! She should be able to take it, to focus on her psi power and use that to keep herself warm. Mind over matter relies a lot on the ability to keep oneself calm and focused though, and if there's one thing that Moscow streets .aren't it's calm and focused raising. Dodging yet another taxicab that seems to think the sidewalk is a perfectly fine 5th lane of traffic Juni sighs and looks around a bit while rubbing her sweater clad arms. This has got to change.
Fortunately, a display rack of coats have been laid out in front of a store. Normally, this would be closely guarded by a shopkeeper out to bark her wares. Unfortunately, the shopkeeper's off attending to other duties, which gives Juni the perfect time to yank a fuzzy, terribly warm looking coat off of the racks and try to make her escape before the crowd is on to her.

For the most Russian of Russians, the weather is a welcome reminder of his homeland. Zangief had spent far too much time out of the nation in recent months. Traveling the world to promote Russian Wrestling as the greatest fighting style the world has ever known might be all very well and good, but sometimes, you just needed to return to the start of it all and... take it in. And what a wonderful place Moscow is. Not somewhere Zangief spent a lot of time, to be sure. Mostly, he preferred the forests and wilderness of his beloved Motherland, but, sometimes, the vibrant city reminded a man of the people he was fighting for, as much a part of the Russia he loved so dearly as the snow and the cold.

It is, perhaps, by pure dumb bad luck that Juni winds up in the path of the Red Cyclone this day. Dressed as he is in a heavy overcoat, with a big black Ushanka jammed down over his head, only his pure size would be any indication of who he was. He hadn't intended to make a big scene today, after all, he just wanted to take in the city. Of course, the fact that he'd purchased the coat from this very store, at a massive discount because of his name, meant that he -owed- this establishment.

And then Juni bumps into him, and he finds himself confronted with a THIEF!

"COMRADE!" He roars, that /voice/ a dead giveaway, as he looms up to his full, intimidating height. "Surely you ARE intending to pay for that, YES?!"

Hey wait, where did that brick wall come from?
Juni stares up, then up, then frowns a little as she realizes that she isn't staring at a wall at all, rather a rather huge slab of a man with biceps larger than Juni's head. The natural, normal thing for Juni to do would be to turn on her heels and march right back to the store to pay for the coat.
If only Vega wasn't so stingy with his expense accounts, however.
Instead, Juni just stares at the man far longer than she should if intimidation was going to play a factor in these sorts of things, then goes for the option of taking a quick juke to the left in hopes of bypassing Zangief. Surely a man of his size couldn't keep up with her speed, after all. The man barely looks like he's capable of walking at a brisk pace, let alone chasing down a smaller, far more agile, Doll.
"Tell the shopkeeper to be more careful of their store and these things wouldn't happen." Juni replies hastily.

Zangief might not look fast. And indeed, he's not very good at keeping up with people. If there is one thing he -is- good at, though, it is those lightning quick motions which would leave one wondering just how he managed that. And of course, he had been expecting Juni to try and make a run for it, which would undoubtedly help a lot, too.

As Juni moves to go past him, the large man has shrugged off that massive coat of his, and, in a smooth motion, /flung/ it with all his force at the far smaller girl. The aim, naturally, is to just bundle her up. She's not much more, as far as Zangief can see, than a regular girl. But, never let it be said that Comrade Zangief is soft on crime, or on the causes of crime!

In a display that would make his long-time rival proud, Zangief aims to follow up his coat, and simply scoop Juni into his arms. "Perhaps it is you who should be more careful!" He declares as he lunges forwards, and, if he gets his hands on the girl, and lifts her over his head, that will be followed by a loud...

"SEE WHAT CRIME HAS BROUGHT YOU!?"

Before he simply /HURLS/ Juni at the ground, pretty much expecting her... not to get up. That'd teach the sneaky thief.

Ahah! The guy is faster than Juni thought! Zigging when she should have zagged, Juni finds herself wrapped up and struggling in a heavy coat. That, of course, isn't the end of it. There's that lift up and throw, her body dashed straight down to the ground in a way that suggests her flailing around in that coat's managed to position herself in the perfect way to get some sense knocked into her head courtesy of the cold (too cold!), hard ground.
Being scolded though? That's just far too much, even if she doesn't have any memories of being chastised for her mother after being caught sneaking quarters out of her purse.
Juni does the unexpected in getting up, however, finally free of that entangling coat. "... Crime.." Juni murmurs to herself, then shakes her head quickly. She knows what crime has brought her! This wonderful life living under Vega, and the look of fear on her targets eyes the moment before she kills them. It's certainly time to show this man mountain what little she cares about his loud mouth.
Throwing the coat she's just managed to free herself up in the air to distract Zangief, she takes a step forward, then suddenly drops to her knees before launching herself torpedo like at Zhangief, "Spiral Arrow!"

COMBATSYS: Zangief endures Juni's Spiral Arrow.

Needless to say, with the coat off, Zangief is far more recognizable. Being the man himself, Zangief hasn't even bothered to wear a shirt underneath there. Or pants, really. Just those characteristic red trunks, big stomping red boots, and his mass of chest hair to keep out the russian cold. Not that he wanted to keep it out! He wanted to embrace that cold as though it were a familiar friend, and go out for drinks with it after beating up criminals!

Talking of criminals, the large Russian suddenly finds himself confronted with the girl... -not- just going down completely. That was unexpected, to say the least! On the other hand, he'd fought more than enough in his time to know that small girls can be amongst some of the fiercest enemies you'll ever get to face.

For instance, look at Juni, who has just kicked him squarely in the chest, in a move he was sure he'd seen somewhere before. If only he could remember where it was... oh well! No time to worry about such trivial matters! Instead, there was a far more important thing to deal with here. JUSTICE.

The spinning maneuver slams into the muscular man-mountain, and he just takes it. Stepping forwards, before the girl has even hit the ground, he's already on the counterattack. Now this was the moment when a man felt truly alive! In the heat of battle... even against a small child! His fist are clenched, and he simply spins around like a tornado, both arms whipping out, and aiming to clobber the girl quite thoroughly before she has a chance to get out of the way. His voice raised in one exuberant cry of "ORAAAAAAAAAAA!"

COMBATSYS: Juni blocks Zangief's Double Lariat.

On the plus side of this fight, she's likely to end up feeling a lot warmer at the end of it. (A sudden memory -- no, it is NOT like that. Stop thinking about that, girl.) So she almost relishes the chance to scrap it up with someone this snowblown day. Of course, she is in Moscow for a purpose... mustn't get carried away and forget about that.
Back onto her feet after the attack, Juni barely has time to let some of the heat of adrenalin warm her body up and loosen her muscles up before Zangief's upon her, spinning wildley like his namesake. Juni actually has to lean into her block, bracing herself into the attack with both arms meeting the brunt of Zangief's massive limbs to avoid being blown away. Surprisingly, the young woman manages to do it with little more than what'll prove to be quickly fading bruising for her efforts. It hurt like the dickens, of course, but what more can Juni expect from deflecting the blow of arms almost wider than she is?
Keeping her arms held together after she blocks the attack, Juni swings her arms in a double fisted blow at Zangief's chest again. It's not a very accurate, well timed blow, but how can she possibly miss someone as large as Zangief? As soon as she's done throwing her full weight into that attack, she'll dart backwards to put space between her and Zangief. If there's someone her talents at tossing people around isn't likely to affect much, it's someone she doubts she'll even be able to lift up.

COMBATSYS: Zangief interrupts Strong Punch from Juni with Banishing Flat.

The Red Cyclone is actually a little surprised. Not only had she gotten up after he threw her, the girl had, in fact, continued to press the attack rather than trying to run away! That was the kind of spirit he had to admire! After all, she might be a thief, but she was in Russia, which meant she had at least a little bit of taste, if she wasn't one of his fellow russians herself! Although there were rather few little Russian girls who would continue to attack the Red Cyclone... at least, not many that he could think of. Maybe this is the start of a new and exciting trend!

The skill she displays in weathering his blows is noted, and, as she comes in again, the Red Cyclone brings himself around, and one massive fist ploughs into Juni's face as she punches him in the gut with all she has. The clash of meaty man against small girl is impressive, made all the more impressive by the bright green flare of light which burns up at the point of impact. Zangief had never really bothered to master any fancy applications of chi, so it is just a raw splash of power which lends a little added 'oomph' to the backhanded blow.

After which, he'll straighten himself up, and pat the point that Juni had managed to punch. A little red and sore, he actually laughs! This girl was good! Better than some random street urchin! "Nice try, comrade!" He booms, his bearded face splitting into a wide smile. "But you'll have to do better than that, da? Come! Come again! Give me your best! Or I'll make you apologize to poor Mr. Dimitrikov yourself! AND pay double!"

She's German. She can't help but to invade Russia and cause trouble -- it's in her blood. Blood that she's busily spilling from her nose onto the ground at the moment, which is hardly the first time that German blood's spilled on Russian snow after a counter attack. Dazed and more than a little groggy from the smash, Juni peers at the big guy with new interest. She knows the painful nature of that blow, knows it far too well... which means...
"You have to be the largest man I've seen use Chi attacks before.." Juni murmurs casually, still keeping a level tone of voice despite how well the fight is going for her. A swipe of her hand across her face clears the blood starting to dribble down her face, then Juni steps backwards a step or two, her feet scuffing through the footstep scrambled snow underneath her looking for purchase.
It's only to clear the distance of course, so she can get some good speed as she dashes and twists forward. She, too, can make with the glowing fist thing and her fist lights up with dark purple energy as she propels herself backwards, aiming at sensitive parts of Zangief's anatomy with her fist. Surely a man that huge can't be too sensitive down there anyways, right?

COMBATSYS: Juni successfully hits Zangief with Axle Spin Knuckle.

Zangief          1/-------/=======|=======\=------\1             Juni

Okay, that hurt.

Zangief doesn't even have time for a witty retort before he finds himself doubling over. The pain that a man feels from that kind of vicious blow cannot be overstated. The poor Red Cyclone actually finds some of the strength threatening to leave his legs as he slumps to one knee. Eyes watering. There had been an attempt to intercept the blow, of course, but he just... hadn't managed to get there in time, now, he suffers for it. Some lesser men would be completely felled by such a vicious attack. Some would even presume that even the mighty Red Cyclone wouldn't be in any hurry to continue the fight after such a painful and powerful blow.

Those people, though, have underestimated the sheer, raw determination which lurks in the heart of Zangief. Indeed, though the punch had definitely done a lot to hurt the Red Cyclone... it has done something that is far, far more dangerous to Juni. It's roused his anger. The fury that tended to come out in Zangief's wilder moments.

With a terrifying, bestial -ROAR-, he is lunging forwards again. This time, those massive hands just aim to snare any part of the girl. He was going to teach her a lesson for daring to attack the Red Cyclone like that! The thunderous howl even causes a couple of onlookers to seem... just a little bit nervous...

COMBATSYS: Zangief knocks away Juni with Ultimate Atomic Buster!

Zangief          0/-------/------=|>>>>>>>\>>>>>>>\2             Juni

And just like that, Zangief grabs Juni's arm. A downright feral look in his eye as he wrenches her up off the ground, his free hand snaring a leg as he brings her down on his knee, literally crushing her against it with a bellow of "ULTIMATE!"

The crowd seems more interested now, as they find themselves witness to that most amazing of athletic feats. The huge man throws the smaller girl into the air, using all the /pain/ she'd inflicted as motivation as he leaps up after her. "ATOMIC!" As huge hands grab her, and force her head between his legs, spinning down into the ground to drive her skull into the pavement. The pavement loses, in this contest, cracking and breaking under the force of the impact before he finishes with a furious.

"BUSSSSSSSSSTEEEEEEEEER!" Springing up out of the impromptu crater the impact had made, he dives backwards, taking the Doll with him, smashing her into the ground one last time, before she is thrown away. Now, if she could get up after THAT! ... Well, the world just isn't right!

There's throws, then there's limb breaking, brain bashing, body discarding attacks that leave one battered, bruised, bleeding, and preferably blacked out so they needn't worry about the resulting pain too much afterwards. Juni can handle the former, being used to the more nimbler and speedy techniques the dolls use. The other kind? Well.. it helps some. There's a number of painful sounding *smacks* and *bash* and *CRAAACK* noises as Zangief tosses her around like a rag doll though -- the sort that suggest she's definately being shown the limits of bendy wendy and speed.
Landing against a wall with a solid *THUD* it's doubtful, from the looks of her, that Juni .can. get up. Surely that arm's bent the wrong way, and the mask of red her face has become has to keep her from opening swollen eyes. ANd yet, there's still life in the doll.. a creaky, slow moving, grimacing with every step as if she's managed to break a few ribs as well as her arm sort of life, but it's enough to get her clumsily back onto her feet. A less stubborn person would take this moment to offer to pay for the coat, cough up every last ruble on their body, and try to limp towards the EMT's that are already en route with panicked looks on their faces.
Juni has other ideas about how to handle pain though. With only one eye able to open half the way, and twice.. three times? the mass of solid manwall in front of her, she's not in any condition to continue fight for too long though. She opens up with everything she has -- every ounce of pain in her body, every sharp jab coming from her ribs, every dull thud coming from her forehead, and the searing unrelenting pain as she forces her broken arm forward to help channel her feelings into her ultimate attack. The girl goes pale before she releases it, a screaming howler of a psi ball that twists and churns in every direction, a malshapen but .strong. surge of energy launching from her outthrust arms to Zangief.
She's not going to call out the name of this attack -- it hurts to much to even think about attacking.. and even a raw surge of psi, she's still on her feet.

COMBATSYS: Zangief endures Juni's Psycho Streak.

Zangief          0/-------/-======|=======\-------\0             Juni

Would that Zangief could say this it the first time he's faced a situation like this. Having beaten Juni down far further than any /sane/ person would consider beating a girl of her age, only to have her throw a massive amount of energy back at him. Admittedly, it was rather more difficult to think of it so dispassionately when it is bearing down on him, no, Zangief's thought process is much more simple.

She wants to throw energy at him? She thinks ENERGY is going to stop him?! SHE THINKS SHE CAN STOP THE RED CYCLONE?!!!!!

"NNNNNNOTHING STOPS THE RED CYCLONE!"

With that as his battlecry, Zangief simply runs THROUGH the mass of energy. By the time he emerges from the other end, he is clearly far from unscathed. His beard smolders, his chest hair smokes, his scarred and rugged body definitely beaten up. His hat has completely disintegrated, but, by some mercy, his shorts have survived relatively unscathed.

He, like Juni, is not stopping, though. Taking her refusal to give up as a stubborn insult to his very person. There is really only one response he can give to such brazen disrespect for glorious Mother Russia and the Red Cyclone who was her champion!

Again, he aims to swamp the girl. If he can manage this, he'll JUMP into the air again, spinning around, there would be a few moments where it would almost be sedate, were it not for the positioning of her head between those meaty legs. And then, like the unstoppable force he purported himself to be, the Red Cyclone would drive her into the ground one final time, in his signature move. Aimed to completely, and utterly, decimate any further resistance.

COMBATSYS: Zangief successfully hits Juni with Screw Piledriver.

Zangief          0/-------/=======|=======\==-----\1             Juni

A solid *CRUNCH* is Zangief's reward for his efforts, Juni's neck bending in a way that just isn't right. Those hurrying EMT's practically put on rocket skates to get to the girl who's undoubtedly suffered something close to a broken neck -- if not a thoroughly rattled brain case. And still the girl pushes herself back to her feet, an anguished look of pain crossing her features as she fights through the pain to keep her body moving.
And move her body does - right through Zhangief. It's almost taunting, the way she does it.. a series of high kicks and low punches, her fist and feet flailing about his body in a way she simply shouldn't be able to exert with the pain she's under. It's an attack more like a rythmic dance than an attempt to beat him down -- something far more suited to doing with a partner.
The last bit's a toss of the pilfered coat over Zangief's head -- hopefully concealing her from sight as she tries to slip into the crowd.

COMBATSYS: Juni can no longer fight.

Zangief is stunned. Someone really shouldn't get up after all of that. But, the current evidence seemed to suggest that Juni really was just going to get up anyway. There is, nevertheless, not a moment of hesitation in Zangief's movements to counteract the girl. He wasn't down yet, and he wasn't going to go down without a fight! His arms come up to block the assault, shielding him from the worst of it as he just tenses and weathers the storm. At the last moment, he finds his vision obscured behind the coat. Which he bats aside with annoyance.

... And then she's gone...

Straightening himself up to his full, impressive height, Zangief considers going after her for a few moments. He was still pretty steamed, and he wanted answers from her. Whatever she was, she wasn't /normal/. He knew that from how much that blast of energy had hurt, aside from the sheer amount of punishment she'd withstood. But, there was no way he was going to catch her now. So instead, he turns to the crowd, and holds his hands above his head.

"REMEMBER CHILDREN! CRIME DOESN'T PAY, IT MAKES THE RED CYCLONE BREAK YOUR FACE! AAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

COMBATSYS: Zangief has ended the fight here.
