Brett - Off-Ice Debut

Description: It's Brett Neuer's big debut in one of the street fighting meccas of the world. Unfortunately, he finds quite a daunting task ahead of him, in the one....the only....the DAN HIBIKI. Will Brett be able to show his mettle and bring his love of hockey onto a world fighting stage? Or will Saikyo rule the day?!

Aw yeah. It's time to earn some publicity and some money and maybe some more money for charity as the Dan Hibiki Invitational Exhibitional Super SlamFest 09 gets underway. Although no one knows that's what this match is, because really it's just an exhibition fight, it totally is all that stuff that it was described as. For Real. Today, Dan is in full Saikyo gear, what with his millions of advertisement decal patches all sewed onto every inch of his pink gi. Admittedly, they all say Saikyo, but whatever man! (To be more technical, several of them overlap in such a way that his left shoulder just says yo, yo, yo but that's irrelevant to anything.)

As he prepares in his corner, he downs a whole bottle of men's one a day multivitamins to raise his strength. Tapping his leather wristgloves together he gives a thumbs up to the crowd turnout and smiles broadly, "Whoop Whoop. This is one crazy party!"

Good job, Dan. Sell it. Sell it like you mean it.

"Whew...just...deep breaths, Brett....deep breaths..."

Dan's opponent, meanwhile, is...well, he's just a little nervous. This is his first match in Metro, at least in an arena this big. He'd already done some overseas fighting, but...well, this is like one of the capitals. Not to mention that he could swear he just passed by the captain of the Metro City Titans hockey team.

Caught in the hall, just near the door into the arena proper, he closed his eyes, taking a deep breath and idly tapping his stick against the floor. Faster...and faster he taps, gloves flexing, and feet rolling on the skate wheels. Then...with one last slap, a hard sharp strike on the floor, he stands up. "Ready..." he tells himself, finishing his hype up before rolling through the door full speed, stopping just as he gets to the ring to climb in.

As he pulls himself up to a standing position, he looks over toward his opponent. "...wow," he says, seeing all the pink...and all the advertisements. He opens his mouth to say something...but he was taught a powerful and resounding bit of wisdom as a kid: "If you can't say anything nice, don't say it at all." And thus, he stays quiet.

Dan blinks as he sees Brett heelie into the arena, and puts a hand to his chin, rubbing it thoughtfully while his mouth hangs to the left side of his face in a little pursed 'o', "...rollerblading battler. This could be interesting."

His face then turns into an ocean of calm thought and he claps his hands together, "Well! You certainly look ready for war! C'mon, hockey-jockey let's get sweaty!"

With that Dan slides into his stance, open footed and ready for action. His pink gi sparkling a little under the sea of advertisements. No doubt the luxurious shimmering silk one for television appearances. A real shame he ruined it with all those damn patches. As he readies himself, he focuses on the zen of battle, which looks a lot like he has no clue what to do to get things started. Sucks to be him, I guess.

"H-hockey jockey..." Brett repeats, rubbing the back of his helmet a bit embarrassedly, at that weird nickname, as well as the...rest of Dan's boisterousness. "R-right...." he says, shaking his head as he tries to psych himself back up again. "Alright...." Sighing, he waits and starts tapping his stick again.

When the bell for the fight to begin rings, eyes open, changing to focused pinpoints as he narrows in on his opponent and rolling in slightly to try and circle about the gi-ed fighter. Definitely got his mind in the game now.

COMBATSYS: Brett focuses on his next action.

Dan leaps into action at the bell, jumping high in the air and rasing his right fist, while screaming, "YAHOO!" into the crowd. His left hand moves into his Gi lining, and he retrieves a stack of business cards with 'Saikyo-Ryuu martial arts training and motivational reimagining' scrawled on them in uv treated ink. The lights of the arena hit the glittering typeface, as he takes them and begins to dole them out ninja-star style to the crowd watching behind Brett...

And ultimately, to Brett himself. Four of the little cards zip through the air with precision skill and targetting and screech with the wind around them carving over their embossed surface. It's premium sign for MY generation. Get them while they're hot, limited-edition collector's items! *Skree!*

COMBATSYS: Dan successfully hits Brett with Premium Sign.

Unlike before the bell, when Brett just seemed too easily thrown off by Dan's strange appearance and attitude, is all business now, not even thrown off by the continued crowd appeal. Still when the cards come out and are flung out like shuriken, he's taken a bit off guard. Enough that he brings his gloves up to stop them just a little too late...not that it matters, considering they do as much damage as a fly swatter would.

"The hell?" he mutters, voice a little more brusque, frowning a bit, before shaking off the surprise and bringing his stick up. Whatever, he's in the game, time for his own shot. And it comes almost literally, the stick brought up as if he were going for a slap shot, snapping down then up again. Suddenly, an ice blue arc of thin energy shoots outward, trying to cut into Dan like a shark's fin.

As Dan lands on his feet, he sees the sharkfin of icy blue zipping towards him, and he smiles, "Neat!" It is kind of cool, really. Like a salmon ready to leap and pounce. On the other hand, it's also highly avoidable, which is why Dan does the unthinkable, and rolls right through it. As his shoulder impacts it it washes over his body, sliding over and around him and ripping little patches off his gi before he pops back up to his feet.

He leaps forward with his newfound momentum and brings his knee up into the air. Opting not for any aerial roundhouses today he goes straight for the signature Hibiki family move, The single knee Dan Dan Kick. His hands hang behind him as his knee hangs out in the air like a deathmissile. It's marvel baby!

COMBATSYS: Brett fails to interrupt Dankuu Kyaku from Dan with Power Strike.

Sadly, Brett is still a bit green, so when Dan rolls through and just takes the Shark Crest like that, the hockey player rushes in, trying to compound things and take on what he assumes is a possible strategic mistake on the pink fighter's part. When Dan pops up for the Knee, the Pride of Duluth brings his stick up, hoping to swing up and slash Dan out of the air with it.

Sadly, too little, too late. By the time he's got the stick ready to swing, he's already hit with the knee upside his temple, the strike sending him reeling and wheeling backwards with a loud grunt. That felt worse than a cross check, that did....

Dan gets back onto solid ground, and twists his body to the crowd, putting his left hand flat at his hip and his thumb up in the air and smiling. This little interlude is not long at all, as he hops forward on the ground with his hands out ready to grab and strike at the hockey player turned fighter. With his hands out, he grips at Brett's shoulders and...

COMBATSYS: Dan successfully hits Brett with Otoko Nage.

Dan tugs on Brett's shoulders as he connects, pulling him backwards and. Crap, that guy is heavier than he looks with all that hockey gear. Dan actually falter's for a second in his throw. With a look of determination, he grits his teeth and finally pulls Brett down with him as he falls onto his back and pushes him back with his foot. HOORAH

It doesn't look like Brett's Metro City debut is going so well. Still reeling from that knee, the hockey player ends up easy pickings for the grab, and sudden tug and lift over Dan's shoulder. Landing with a fairly loud thud, it takes the hockey player quite a bit to finally get up. "Uhgnn...owww..." he groans, hissing and gritting his teeth.

Not wanting to look so chumpish on his first outing here, Brett grits his teeth, stick lifted up and pushed out as he tried to hook onto Dan's arm or gi, just SOMETHING he can tug him in with and hook him straight into the ground face first.

And Dan is sent FLYING face first, into the ground. The normal reaction for this is of course to howl in pain as blood sprinkles out from your gums or whatever it is you've got going on inside your mouth that gets all cut up when you get your face bashed into things. But not Dan. Nope. Dan is made of sterner stuff.

In fact, he starts laughing as he pushes himself back to his feet, "Wh.. what was that. Man I thought hockey was supposed to be violent. It's like I'm on a dinner date with my grandma here. Jeeze put some back into it."

"Like so."

Dan crouches into a spring of energy, as he launches himself at Brett in an upward violent spiral of torrential destruction, a spinning uppercut that has been seen time and time again (albeit done by Ken and Ryu much better uhh shut up) the most powerful of the Daneuvers (that's a portmanteau). Yes, it's the mighty fine Kouryuken. Here it comes, Brett. Hope your insurance is paid. Ass-kicking insurance!

COMBATSYS: Brett blocks Dan's Kouryuken.

Well....that was unfortunate for Brett. He was hoping to hurt Dan more. But the man is made from stern stuff. And that doesn't help the Checking Line Winger much when the yank down is shrugged off like that. Grunting, he pulls himself up from the ground again...and barely manages to survive the hard rising uppercut as it shoves the boy back despite gloves, stick, AND pads trying to absorb the blow. "Nnnnnhghh..."

Reeling back from the assault, he falls into the ropes. "Man...." HE's not about to give up though, as he pushes off....and then puts everything he has into a retaliating blow, winging a hard elbow straight into Dan's face. Enough put into it to turn him full around, 360...to follow up with a merciless, vicious shoulder check, weight pushed off sharply on his skates toward Dan's face.

Dan smiles broadly as Brett begins his attack, and seems pretty ready and rocksteady. With a single hand, he catches Brett's Elbow and pushes it aside. While the rest of his body shifts, and he leans away from the weight of Brett's shoulder coming down on him. Sure, it still hurts, and it's an impressive move nonetheless, but Dan seems perfectly able to hang onto his fighting spirit under the slings and arrows of this assault.

His other hand comes up, and his finger wags left and right three times each while his foot comes out, the blade of it aimed for Brett's shins, "No way, helmet head! This is DAN country!"

COMBATSYS: Brett endures Dan's Light Kick.

The hurricane check didn't seem to be so useful it seems, caught rather easily and leaned away from so the full weight of his check was dulled quite a bit. "Nhhhnn...." he grunts. Fallen back on his heels and wheels, Brett finds himself a bit more frustrated as the fight goes further and further south for him. When the kick comes, Brett does what comes natural....

He simply charges straight on through, trying to barrel on in. When the kick severely sets him off balance, he grunts and uses the imbalance to simply put more weight into his attack, aiming a hard swing of his stick blade up toward Dan's face as he rolls forward recklessly.

COMBATSYS: Dan fails to interrupt Medium Strike from Brett with Hisshou Burai Ken.

Dan sets himself for impact as he plans his next strike once his kick lands firmly in Brett's shin. And as he's bringing his fist back to start the mother of all combos, he suddenly feels something very hard against his cheek. Very hard, and very hockey-stick like. His punch goes out into empty air as he's sent spiraling backwards through the arena, landing on his ass with a huge, red, hockey-stick-shaped mark. AW DAN. YOU GOT SERVED! I guess he's not winning the Danley cup for this exchange.

Stanley! It's the STANLEY CUP, you HEATHEN!

Well, good thing thoughts are thoughts, and not speech. Keeps that misstep silent, and the likely reaction to such a mere possibility rather than a possible reality. The only reality faced is that he finally...FINALLY got in a hit. And a truly spectacular one too, a slash straight into Dan's cheek that sends the Saikyo 'master' back. That's it, He feels the momentum now! He feels the burning spirit that spurs him on say, "Go for it. Give it your best. Show him your best shot!" And that burning spirit that pushes him to pull out all the stops, taking to a move he rarely uses for what becomes apparent soon enough. FLipping over, he does a full somersault, trying to drive the heel and the wheels of his skate straight into Dan, one that would slash into him if he were wearing actual hockey skates. You know, assuming it hits.

COMBATSYS: Brett successfully hits Dan with Falling Star EX.

Dan's eyes bug out a little as he gets a gut full of rollerskate. Whoogh. This guy's getting pretty serious, it seems. As he rolls slightly away from Brett after the impact, he pushes himself to his feet, and clutches his breadbasket for a second, before stepping forward boldly and thrusting all of his weight to one foot. His body spins forward off that foot, thrusting his entire back...well, forward. His fist is at the end of this large hadron collider of pain, the hairs his arm stirring with the breeze he creates as he aims the "ultimate" Saikyo strike right at Brett. No, not that one, the other ultimate one. The one where his fist twists all weird.

Yes, that one, now you've got it. The super-duper punch. With this fist, a mountain can become a molehill.

"KYRAAAAAAAAAAGH!"

COMBATSYS: Brett endures Dan's Kyuukyoku Tenchi Gadou Zuki.

The ultimate punch, huh? Well, that's just fine with Brett. He doesn't care if it's a Sunday Punch, a Throwaway PUnch, or the Punch of God. He's got a strategy for all of them.

Plow through, absorb, and put all his weight into striking back harder. So when the twisting karate strike aims out, Brett's already committed to a straight on dash into Dan. The strike drills straight into Brett's pad, wrecking his chest through the padding quite nastily....but he takes it on, he sucks up the pain the best he can. It's all for a big on strike here, attempting to almost clothesline Dan straight out with his stick in a mad charge.

It looks like all of Dan's forward momentum has left him, as he's knocked back and then down to the ground with the hockey guillotiner. The wind leaves his lungs as he looks up in a daze at the arena lights. "Well.. ughhghh."

Shakily he pushes himself to his feet, and tries to get his bearings. Reaching his hand out for Brett, he tries to catch the hockeyman's hockeyankle and hockeythrow him for a hockeyloop. HOCKEY! NNRGH. FLYERS GONNA WIN THE PLAYOFFS

Too bad Brett doesn't really have a horse in the playoffs, what with the Wild being just not good enough again this year.

Not that it matters, as Brett has other things on his mind rather than who'll win the West this year. As the hand reaches out to try and grab him in mid flip, the skater stumbles a little...just enough to make the ankle grab miss. That's all the opening that he wanted.

Suddenly, the elbow flashes out again. "HRrrhh!!" Swinging out, Brett smashes into another turn, the return of the Hurricane Check as he drives the shoulder in again, this time plain and flush, showing off all that checking power he has on the ice.

Dan sprawls out once more, as he's knocked back to the ground. When he stands up, his eyes narrow, and he frowns heap'um big. Welp. Looks like it's time for serious business. Wobbily walking over towards Brett, his body forces itself back into a spring, and he launches himself upward and forward in a single, powerful koryuken, before following it with a single powerful... koryuken. Dang, that lacks variety doesn't it. In any case. It's Koryuurekka. IT'S MARVEL BABY!

Well, it worked before...

Brett feels the momentum on his side, and continues to push the offensive, all the way to its fullest. WIth Dan on his last legs, the uppercut seems a bit questionable...so he just goes off and tries to sweep him straight off his wobbly feet, dropping low to spin and swing out with his stick.

Too bad he didn't go low enough, as the single, super powerful Kouryuken catches Brett right on the chin, and sends him flying, spinning back until he hands with an ugly flop face down on the ground....and doesn't move.

That was one damn uppercut, there...

Dan lands, and smiles, before pointing at the crowd, and putting his hand up to his ear. In his final act of adrenaline fueled stick-to-ituiveness, he listens for the cheers, before pointing at Brett, "Dude is ALLLLLLLLLLLRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT. I'm just better."

And with that, he walks off to collect his accolades. Good job, Dan!
