Southtown, a well known city in Japan, known for all sorts of various things, including culture, food, shopping, entertainment, you name it it's most likely there. A mix of traditional Japanese flair with modern American style, Southtown is truly a testament to the title, 'Something for everyone.' And one of those things that Southtown has always been known for offering is its flair for the fighting circuit. Many great fighters have come from Southtown and areas within, and even then countless fighters come to this area for whatever reasons they may have. One of which is sometimes for the purpose of fighting. And that's why the Neo League is always a common sight in Southtown. In fact, it just so happens there's a Neo League fight happening today.
A large area of Southtown has been closed off so the Neo League can host their current fight without interruption. A large fighting area has been set up with seating for everyone all around, with refreshments and whatnot available too. Special sound equipment and viewing screens make it so everyone can see and hear what's happening without having to be too close or too far away. And in the center of the ring, an announcer is stating what's about to happen.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to today's Neo League match. We're looking at a great match between these two lovely fighters. First up, from Metro City, USA, it's the hometown heroine of Metro, Maki Genryusai!" At that, Maki waves from her corner in the ring briefly before resuming her warming up and stretching.
There are a great deal of distractions for the other woman in the ring, even as she stands in her corner with her hands buried in the pockets of her white slacks. In part, she's still sort of thrown by how the Neo League's organizers seem to have these things just lying around to be thrown up at a moment's notice no matter what. Beyond that, though, there are the walls pockmarked by bullets, the shattered glass, the broken streets... it's kind of a nasty time to /be/ in Southtown, and to be out here in the middle of a fighting ring instead of in the Gedo area or one of the similar hot zones is weird, to say the least.
Of course, when the announcer intones, "Her opponent! Hailing from South Korea and representing... sort of... the Kaphwan Dojo, Lee J--ah, wait--May Lee!" her uncertainties don't stop her from pulling her hand from her pocket, smiling brightly, and turning to wave towards what audience is present, whether physically or by virtue of television and the internet.
As she waves, she starts to settle into things a little; as odd as this may be to her, there IS something to be said for a positive distraction in trying times, and this might well be that. And even if she's not putting her varied talents to use in punching the varied cartel forces in the city into unconsciousness, it's sort of, kind of the same if she's providing a few minutes of entertainment and positivity, right?

As soon as Maki sees her opponent, she turns to face her and bows formally to her, before finishing her warm-up with a few swift kicks. She then hops up and down a little in place to get the blood flowing completely, and then gets into her fighting stance. Looks like this is gonna be a good fight, since May Lee is a fighter Maki has never encountered before, and Maki always enjoys meeting new challengers. For now, she can only wait and see what May Lee will present during the fight.
"All right, fighters, take your positions," An official wearing a Neo League shirt says as he steps into the center of the ring. "Fighters ready?" A pause as he checks, then, "FIGHT!" And then the bell rings. With that, Maki gets into her fighting stance, awaiting her opponent's first move.

Her feet shifting apart from one another as the rest of her body falls into a loose, comfortable fighting stance, May Lee's smile more or less shrinks away now that she's not looking at the audience. It takes a second or two of examining Maki before she finally pulls her hands up before herself, exhales softly, and starts to move slowly forward. There's a test jab or two once she's almost in range of connecting, just to see how she'll react, and then as she takes to trying to circle around the ninjette, she swallows.
"You know, I didn't /really/ think I'd be getting a call like this..." is whispered in conversational, almost conspiratorial tones before her voice picks up towards a more confidently intoned, "... but if this is how the city needs me, I'd be wrong to not answer the call!"
With that, she rushes to try getting inside of Maki's guard, right leg snapping out in a kick aimed towards the ninja woman's leg, and then pivoting at the hips to throw another kick towards her head.

"Let's do this!" Maki says as she watches May Lee come at her. She's eager to see what the girl has up her sleeve, and when she sees May Lee attempt to strike at her leg, Maki can only smirk at the girl's attempt to strike her like that.
Unfortunately for May Lee, though, Maki's quick on the defensiveness scale, meaning that as soon as the first kick attempts to connect, Maki drops down and uses her arm to deflect the first leg away, while the other kick will probably just miss entirely. All the while, Maki's moved back slightly and readjusted her fighting stance a little, waiting for May Lee to regain her own stance before Maki returns the favor.
"Not bad, I think I'm gonna enjoy fighting against you," Maki says before she drops down into a crouched position again, bringing one of her sneakered feet towards May Lee's ankles in hopes of tripping her up a little.

Okay, so /maybe/ Maki is quicker than May Lee would like, but that should be no obstacle! She knows she's far from sluggish herself, so rather than stress, she pulls her leg back when it's clear that no contact will be made, plants her right leg firmly and turns it aside to absorb the shock of that low kick against her calf, then leaps artfully away from Maki.
In spite of basically everything, by the time she lands, there's a grin on her lips. Her right hand is snapping up to rest against her chest at a perfect 45 degree angle, while her left is balled into a fist, sitting parallel with the Power Belt on her waist.
"So will I!" replies with a bright sort of confidence. "As much as I /can/, with the city under siege, and soldiers probably down the street dragging some..." Her grin sort of slips as she lets herself get carried away in her words, but fortunately, she banishes the unwanted thoughts with a shake of the head and concentrates on watching Maki as she approaches for the next attack. If nothing else, seeing how she moves might help her understand how to land a hit.

Blocked. But give and take, as Maki looks at it. The blonde ninja shakes her foot out a little after it's deflected away, and then gets back into a standing position. She smirks a little as she says, "An enjoyable fight is one to remember." But then the smirk disappears as Maki's fighting attitude takes over once again as the primary focus. Despite what May Lee might think, though, Maki doesn't approach for an attack. Rather, she jumps into the air and then attempts to grab MayLee by the shoulders. If successful, Maki will throw May Lee onto the fighting ring's canvas below like it were an ordinary through, except it's done in midair!

So maybe Maki /isn't/ rushing her down, but that's okay; as the ninja descends, she coils her body in preparation, softly humming the battle theme of Rider Faiz as she waits. Her grin is returning, and just when it seems as if her shoulders are going to be caught, the tiny Korean's upper body swings downwards to let her right leg thrust powerfully into the air.
Diretly towards Maki's torso.
"Blazing..." is murmured as she prepares to actually throw the attack, and then "INTERCEPT!" punctuates the moment of contact. She intends to follow it up with a pair of leaping forward kicks to further daze the ninja, and then afterwards, she'll pull back into a defensive posture.
Whoops! Looks like May Lee's pulled yet another surprise out for Maki to encounter up close and personally! In this case, it's a surprise counter-attack to the torso and then a couple more kicks that leave her not only injured, but also unsure of where she is at first. Which is why when the referee gets over to check on her, she has to look at him before shaking her head and doing a double take and realizing he's not someone she once knew!
"You're quite the unique one," Maki says, still smirking despite the fact she just got hit by her opponent. "Looks like I'll have to be on my toes." Maki then steps back a little, getting into her fighting stance again while awaiting May Lee's next action.

Upon seeing that Maki's hanging back, May Lee drops her defensive posture in the hopes of trying to capitalize on the ninja's seeming reticence. She's running headlong into her opponent, scarf beginning to work its way up from her collar with each step.
"And you're very fast, but can you dodge..." she begins to reply before planting her feet before Maki, turning to her side, and swinging her right leg up into a tight knee strike pointed towards the ninja's no doubt aching ribs. "... this?!"
"And can you maybe show me that thing you were doing before, after this? That was /awesome/!" she jubilantly adds on, hit or miss.

Maki can dodge quite a bit, thank you very much. And she's willing to show off a lot to May Lee, it's just right now the only techniques she's showing off are the ones she feels will help her win the battle. And right now, with May Lee coming right at her, Maki believes that the best course of action would be to demonstrate her favorite maneuever, where she spins around like a whirlwind on the tip of her tonfa(!) while sending any nearby enemies out of the way. Or at least that's how it's supposed to happen.
"Bushin senpuu-- OWWWW!"
Maki is suddenly hit in the ribs as she goes down to attempt the maneuver, sending her flying across the ring and into the ropes. She leans against them in a semi-seated position, dazed and bruised from the impact. As she tries to shake the dizziness from her vision, Maki uses her tonfa to try to get back into a standing position while catching her breath.
For just a moment, May Lee is shocked at her own strength to have sent Maki flying so very unintentionally; shocked to the point that her eyes are wide and her gloved hands are clapped over her mouth, even.
It ultimately passes, though; while she doesn't mean her opponent any kind of ill will, she knows better than to be too wrapped up in actually hurting her. Thus, with a steadying breath, she steps back onto her left leg as a sudden gust of wind helps to lift her scarf from within her shirt, causing it to flutter freely in the breeze. The grin that's been coming and going is back in full effect, and now it's big enough to let her pearly whites sparkle for the viewers at home to see(and maybe even emulate; there are /less/ heroic actions than promoting dental hygiene!).
"I hope you're /okay/, but I can't let up! I'm sorry if you're hurt too badly!" she intones in a voice slightly deeper than before before advancing on Maki with a few zig-zagging hops let her throw a quick kick at one leg.

Maki tries to avoid the incoming kick, but her legs aren't doing too well, and another kick there means that they're gonna get only worse it seems. But Maki's far from done. She's been through a lot worse than this, and she's gonna prove that to May Lee. Namely in the form of using her tonfa to deliver a sideways blow to her head!

Even with a tonfa striking her upside the head, May Lee's smile does not fade, and it is then that she really and truly accesses the hero within. Once she's done reeling and shaking the cobwebs from her head, anyway.
"HENSHIN!" is shouted with a forcefulness that belies the fact that she... does not physically change in the slightest, and with that she leaps sideways, perching on the ropes for just a moment. When she leaves them, her arms are spread apart from her body and her legs are thrusting powerfully downwards to try and catch Maki right in the chest to bring her down.

Pretty clever tactic, taking the brunt of it with a positive attitude and then coming back with another blow of your own. Quite an optimistic young lady May Lee is. But Maki's still ready for her when she comes back at her with a kick of her own. Or so she thinks...
Regretably, Maki fails to catch May Lee's foot and throw her to the ground. Instead, Maki goes down to the ground like a sack of bricks. (OK, the ring canvas surface.) Now a little bloodied and showing definite signs of slowing down, it looks like Maki's first encounter with May Lee might be defeat. But such is part of life in the fighting circuit. As she gets back onto her feet, Maki's smirk is no longer there as she says, "Looks like I underestimated you, but this isn't over. Not by a longshot!"
With a wink, May Lee's arms come up before her, right bent up towards forty-five degrees and left bent in so that her hand can clutch her right bicep. Her smile isn't wavering in the slightest, and most importantly, her scarf is flitting dramatically in the wind.
"A big mistake; it's /never/ okay to underestimate the power of justice!" she richly intones, and somewhere, there is maybe a dramatic musical sting to punctuate that last word. There's also lightning chi building along her arms and torso, and as she adds, "I'll try not to hurt you too badly anyway, though!" she's pulling her body back into a posture...
... and then a moment later, she's charging, running at decently high speeds as the lightning enrobes her entire upper body. "LIGHTNING BLOW!" is shouted as she moves, intending on striking at the ninja and channeling the lightning throughout her body.

Lightning never strikes in the same place twice, they say. And Maki doesn't want to be one of the places it strikes. Unfortunately, it happens to be more of a striking attack from May Lee herself than a bolt of lightning, albeit fused with lightning itself, meaning that Maki's best strategy would be to block, right?
Unfortunately, her defense fails, and Maki gets hit, hard, staggering back onto the ring post and the ropes, her body tingling like crazy as she struggles to keep from going down. Despite the fact she's literally got no fight left in her, Maki still manages to very weakly maintain a fighting stance, although it's easy to see she's dropped to one knee now and is balancing on her tonfa. Desperate to keep going, she takes slow, chi-infused, deep breaths to try to get some of her fight back.

Some fighters might take their opponent's being on the ropes and trapped in the corner as a sign to pummel them, but not May Lee, not now; indeed, she's moving backwards with quick, hopping steps to give Maki a little bit of space to get out of her predicament. Rather than press the attack, she's again taking to watching to get a bead on her opponent, in the hopes of making her next attack count.

Maki sees that May Lee is using some strategy, and Maki has to nod a little at that. Even the newest fighters should know that a downed fighter is never out. In fact, there are some who will play possum just to get you off-guard so they can take you out without you even knowing what hit you untill it's too late. As for Maki herself, she knows that being low on stamina isn't going to make this fight any easier, so a plan of her own helps too.

Upon seeing that Maki's /staying/ in the corner... May Lee is caught in yet another dilemma! The possible dishonor of attacking an opponent literally staggering on the ropes, or the dishonor of being caught unawares by tricky strategy! It takes some in depth thought on her part, but finally she brings herself to cut the uncertainty and dart forward, crying out in a powerful ki-ai as she pulls her right leg up to be driven towards Maki's midsection in a hard front kick.

Maki may look like she's stuck in the corner, but that doesn't mean she intends on staying there. No folks, she's just taking a moment to catch her breath and plan her next course of action there. Which would be avoiding the incoming kick from May Lee by jumping over the girl's head and landing behind her, while spinning around as she lands no less. As soon as she lands, she decides to take things up a notch a little more. Sure, it may not seem nice to attack from behind, but it's more of swift tactics than cheap play.
Maki attempts to grab May Lee from behind and throw her down onto the canvas. A backfighter, she may be, but in this circuit, anything goes!

Unfortunately, May Lee is a bit tougher than Maki thinks, and Maki finds herself grabbing but not throwing!
If nothing else, the grip from behind forces May Lee to do quite a lot of struggling before she finally opts to just turn in Maki's grasp, swing both hands towards her chest to try forcing some space between them so that she can flip free. There's an odd shimmer of light across the surfaces of not only her Power Belt, but along her goggles, and as her arms swing, a dramatic gust of wind sends her scarf flapping wildly.
She is trying to center herself to summon up every bit of potential within to, if not end the fight, then to at least shorten it dramatically, and in the widening of her smile and the gleaming in her eyes, it's clear that she means business.

Somehow, Maki manages to avoid the incoming attack with little difficulty, meaning that May Lee had better go on the defensive once again. Maki's not holding anything back this time as she steps back a little and then backflips onto the ropes of the ring. For a split second, an aura of chi seems to appear around Maki, and then she literally flies directly at May Lee with her leg extended in a very hard flying kick!

With that, May Lee takes her turn in going for a flight across the ring, only when she strikes its corner, the rings don't simply shake. They go limp, thanks to the upper turnbuckle being knocked completely from its ringpost to fall to the mat. Since May Lee's back took all of that impact in a rather small spot, it's now the source of quite a lot of pain, not that it's unique in that respect; her chest is no doubt going to be covered in hellacious bruises as well, and between the two things, she is slow in climbing to her feet. The two ropes remaining are proving sort of helpful in giving her something to brace against as she tries.
Of course... she's still smiling, even through all of that pain, and if nothing else, she's pleased with herself for not giving. /No/ true hero would give up under such pressure, and so once May Lee has gotten up and staggered to something resembling a stable base, she's pulling her right arm shakily to hold in a heroic pose across her chest.
"I--I will /not/ fold! I promise you that! You may have beaten my greatest attack... but I'm still standing!"
With that, she leaps up, up, up into the sky, blurring as she hits the apex of her jump.

May Lee falls upon Maki in a diving kick, sunlight reflecting from her Power Belt and goggles in a striking manner. She is screaming powerfully as she falls, for the sake of focusing her chi, and once she has landed, she again adopts her heroic stance just a foot or two away.
And then /another/ May Lee strikes, this one a little taller, a little more muscular, a little more filled with self-certainty, and once the two are standing opposite one another, both thrust their left hands out in fist to draw them slowly back. As soon as their hands are level with their waists, fire chi alights all across Maki's body in a powerful series of explosions, and then the illusory heroine is gone, leaving the real one behind to re-adopt her fighting stance.
Cutting right to the chase, Maki's not able to avoid the incoming attack at all. She's caught up in the whole barrage and is forced to endure the whole thing as-is and there's no escape for her. When all is said and done, Maki's body lies unconscious on the canvas of the ring. Looks like May Lee beat her good this time. If it weren't for the fact she's out cold, Maki would congratulate her opponent on a great battle.
