Description: A warm, busy night at the Dream Amusement Park finds Kurenai Takayanagi, from Seijyun, and her recent acquiantance, Kaida Inoue of Taiyo, suddenly thrust into an exhibition match, paired up against the soccer-fighter, Roberto Miura! Will their wooden blades be able to overcome the power and skill of the older fighter?
The Amusement Park is open almost year-round; it only shuts down for incipient weather, really. And there's always special events going, for charity or just for promotion--sometimes both. The place is jumping, even on a weeknight, and there's always kids around, especially teenagers let loose from the confines of school.
This being Southtown, it's also very common for the 'events' to be fights. "FOR YOUR AMUSEMENT AND FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT!!" booms a voice over the loudspeaker, "WE ARE HAVING A SPECIAL EVENT!! A FIGHT!!!" This, naturally, draws cheers from the gathering crowd. Kurenai, being amongst the crowd, in her Seijyun uniform, wielding an extra-extra large cotton candy that matches her hair, doesn't -seem- to stand out... and yet...
"IT WILL BE A TWO ON ONE FIGHT!! THE WINNER(S)... GET YEAR-ROUND PASSES TO THE DREAM AMUSEMENT PARK!! AND THEIR FAVORITE CHARITY WILL GET ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND YEN!!!" More cheers, of course.
%"AND OUR FIGHTERS ARE...." Drumroll... please! Suddenly, a spotlight--shining on Kurenai.
"YOU!!!" All eyes turn to the pink-haired girl; she blinks up at the announcer, shrugs, then smiles, calling out, "OKAY!" Again, the crowd goes wild, as she leaps up in a single bound onto the raised center ring that's the arena for the event.
Ohh, a fight! If the last hour spent on rides wasn't enough, the chance to watch a fight is going to be a pretty good way to cap the day off for Kaida. Not eating food but instead sipping on the remains of a hot cup of tea, she wanders into the crowd that forms as voice speaks. Wondering how good the fighters will be, she receives both an answer and a bit of a surprise when Kurenai hops up onto the ring.
Going with the flow she gives a cheer and a bit of applause, which get mostly drowned out as the rest of the crowd around her does the same. "Go, Kurenai! Let's see you give it to 'em!" But that isn't shock enough for her, fate decides.
"AND YOU!!" The spotlight shifts, and all of a sudden the world is a blaze of white for Kaida. She blinks, and then realizes what that must mean. "Me?"
"YES, YOU!!!" How she was heard will remain a mystery forever, but without another moments thought she grins, "Sure! Why not?" Attempting to make as graceful an ascent as Kurenai had, landing near the edge of the ring and then walking to the center, raising a hand to wave to the cheering crowd. "Fancy meeting you here," she comments to the girl whose hair matches her treat, "looks like we're in for some fun!"
And because Roberto was a graduate, he was accompanying some of the upperclassmen he knew since he was still good friends with the soccer team. Plus his homework was done and the parents were at home taking care of the little brothers. Everything was just working out for him.
Some of his former team mates began dragging him towards where there was a bit of a gathering and he got there just in time to see that a fight would be starting and that there were spot lights shining down on the two competitors.
The soccer star settles in and prepares to watch and isn't quite ready for what happens next.
The spot light shifts one last time shining upon the soccer phenom of Taiyo University. "AND THEY WILL BE FACING OFF AGAINST.... YOU!!!"
Roberto Miura's jaw drops to the ground as he turns to his former team mates. The shock eventually gives way to amusement as he mutters, "They managed to do this to me again." After a bit he laughs for a few moments before unzipping his backpack and pulling out an indoor soccer ball which looks like a soccer ball sized tennis ball fuzz and all. After that out comes the red gloves and he pulls the gloves on as he dribbles the soccer ball towards the ring and after tossing his soccer ball in, he hops into the ring himself.
"Kaida-san!" greets Kurenai, beaming. She'd hoped to find the girl again, but going onto Taiyo grounds can be a bit tricky sometimes. To meet her here and... to be partnered with her, well, it's just peachy! The pink-haired girl walks over to Kaida and smiles. "It's good to see you again. You know, I think this /will/ be fun... I'm hoping so, at least! It's the only reason I agreed." She pauses a little.
"Well, okay, the chance at being able to come for free for a year is pretty tempting too." Hey, she /is/ still a little girl. Kurenai turns towards Roberto, eyeing him a little. "Looks tough, but I bet we can handle it, Kaida-san!"
With that, Kurenai steps about five yards away from her partner of the moment, drawing her blade as the announcer shouts, "OUKEI! FIGHTERS READY!!" At that sound, Kurenai draws her weapon up into her usual stance, held high at the shoulders, pointed at Roberto, her yardstick-blade bobbing gently... her feet set a little bit in a wider stance, as she gets more serious, awaiting the start of the match.

Kaida gives a smile to Kurenai when she's greeted. "I was hoping to get a chance to talk with you again sometime, so this works out fairly well." Not that they can just stand around and chat- the crowd would be so disappointed! "Hm, a free years pass is a pretty good prize, isn't it? I want it too, so I'll make sure not to let you down, Kurenai-san."
Watching Roberto as he gets into the ring she blinks a bit, "Wow, you're right. He doesn't just /look/ it, either. That's Roberto Miura! He's practically famous over at Taiyo." She's about to warn her to be careful, but the announcer speaks up and interrupts her train of thought. A soft hum comes from her as she makes a quick decision, and then reaches to her belt to grab up one of her own wooden swords, holding the bokken firmly in a two handed grip.
Kurenai looks like she's nice and ready, so she gives her new ally a little grin. "Okay, back me up!" Looking towards Roberto she sets herself and then calls out a quick warning- no reason to be rude, "I hope you're ready, because here I come!" On the last word she surges forward, sprinting in quickly with her sword drawn back. Moving to the side once she's close she tries to circle around him, swinging her weapon as she goes and trying to smack him in the shoulder while she moves around him, trying to force him between Kurenai and herself.

The announcer starts off the fight and he gets into a stance that seems to resemble a goalie readying for a penalty shot on goal than a stance from some type of martial art. He hardly has any chance to respond to Kaida's remark on his fame before she comes out of the gates swinging her wooden bokken.
His reflexes borne out of being a goalie come to the fore and a pair of red gloves swing out as he knocks the wooden weapon aside. "I don't have much choice other than to be ready. The situation is what it is."
He can't do much at this point to keep them from flanking him, his only option is to take the situation as it comes and retaliate against Kaida. He can't strike at Kurenai just yet other than opening himself to attack by Kaida in order to kick his soccer ball at her. "Time to see if you're ready as well!"
And then Roberto just lashes out at the other Taiyo student's side with a trio of fast kicks which should test her defenses.
Whoa! So fast to lunge in! Kurenai smiles back and nods. "I'll do that!" This is... this could be the perfect teamup! Cue sparkly eyes. Wait, wait, not yet--there's a fight to be fought! Kurenai senses Kaida's intent to go first, and so she waits and waits, letting that first exchange go off. The three kicks, though... that's her cue. She's been watching Roberto--it's obvious he's a soccer player and that he relies on his legs--probably a fair amount. She hasn't sussed his style out yet but she can't imagine that it'll be boxing, for example.
So, just after he fires that three-set of kicks, Kurenai lunges in, targeting Roberto's thigh with a series of jabbing strikes, one after the other--attempting to disable or at least, to begin to disable that leg. Her weapon isn't sharp, not even for a wooden weapon, but despite how it looks it might just impact harder than Roberto would expect...

Her sword slash, knocked away with a smack of a gloved hand? This is going to be a challenge! With as fast and complete a defense as that, she knows she's going to have to be ready for his retaliation. And it comes in the form of kicks. It's not unexpected from a soccer player, but that doesn't make it any easier to deal with. Kaida's bokken twists around and smacks into the sole of Robertos shoe to slow the first kick, and she quickly draws her second bokken to do the same with the second. The third kick gets through this defense though, and she's forced to lift her leg and take it on the shin, hopping backwards and away from him.
And then Kurenai comes in to the rescue with her jabbing assault. Perfect! She waits a short moment for her ally to begin the attack, and then steps in herself, trying to catch Roberto from the opposite side. Her swords swing in from opposite sides with a one-two beat, the first weapon trying to knock him off balance while the one in her right hand comes around much harder. And if it impacts? A sudden detonation of white chi exploding from the blade as it hits. "Yeah, we've got this!"

With Kurenai coming in so quickly he's forced to change tactics before he even has a chance to even begin to get to work. He drops down into a crouch as the jabbing gets directed towards his legs, swatting the blows aside like low shots on goal.
He is only just rising from his defense when Kaida comes in with a pair of chi imbued bokken strikes which then forces Roberto to change tactics once again on the fly. The soccer star has up until now been fighting more like a goalie than a striker but he shows his speed and agility. He steps on the ball and hops backward as he keeps one foot on the ball roll the soccer ball with him which in turn pulls himself out of the way of the first swing and then switches feet as he performs a spin move around the second swing and he gets a couple of dribbles on the soccer ball, pulling away just enough that he has time to take a shot at Kurenai. And by shot, we mean giving the soccer ball a nice boot at the Seijyun student.

You can be as ready as you are, and you can be as ready as you can be. But sometimes that's just not ready enough. The ball comes in for Kurenai, screaming it's way towards her; she doesn't freeze, she doesn't hesitate, taking a backstep to give herself a touch more time as she readies her weapon. But she just mis-estimates the speed of the ball. Her weapon -almost- makes it around--and then the ball's impacting right in her stomach, hurling her backwards to land with a pained "OOF!" and a whoosh of breath, onto the mat.
A strong hit--but she's taken stronger, before. The girl lays out for only a moment, collecting her thoughts, then kipping up to her feet. She can't hold back the slight grimace of pain, but it washes away soon enough. She's small, but she's tougher than that.
"Ooh... j--just give me a moment... be careful, Kaida-san...!"
Kaida is unfortunately in no position to help Kurenai as the ball shoots towards her. That swing of the sword looks like it just might work but then- then it smacks her in the gut and Kurenai goes down, drawing a pained wince from Kaida. She had plans, but with that they're suddenly out the window. She's got to protect her ally! "Don't worry, Kurenai-san, I've got this."
She advances on Roberto, who's now without his soccer ball at least for the moment, and picks up speed as she moves, eventually coming at him quite quickly. Her swords lash out towards his head, but even of he stands still they'll miss. Instead she uses that to create a spinning momentum and her body twists around a leg lifting up and bending at the knee to try and catch him off guard with a kick to the back!

Goal!!!
Roberto's Long Shot hits its mark and his leg is in recoil just as Kaida comes in to kick him in the back. He barely has time to twist around before he brings his arms together blocking it with closed forearms in a boxer styled defense. In the back of his mind, he thanks Heavy D! for some of the training he's given him.
The soccer star attempts to catch Kaida mid recoil lashing out with a jab before following up with a cross. "Not bad! Either one of you."
Shake it off, Takayanagi! That's what Kurenai is telling herself--and that's what she's doing. Roberto is clearly skilled, and he's handling two opponents quite well--Kurenai has the puzzle in front of her. How to best utilize her skills, and Kaida's skills, to take down the soccer player? Something to think about--but she can't just stand around thinking. Kaida'd get ripped to shreds, likely, if Roberto is as good as the 'word' says he is...
And then facing him alone? No, thanks. Their best bet, she thinks, is simply to continue the assault--force him to make choices, force him to have to think. Force him to make mistakes. Easier said than done; Kurenai draws her weapon back into her stance, then lunges forward--feinting a high stab, though she doesn't even reach half-extension before her weapon is retracted--and instead thrust forward, aimed for between Roberto's legs (not the crotch). Then she'll take a big step forward, using her weapon as a lever to try and bring Roberto down; from there she'd withdraw her weapon and aim a kick to his ribs--perhaps not the most honorable of attacks, but it isn't -dishonorable-, either...

Kaida's got to hold Roberto off while Kurneai recovers, she's just got to! He again manages to protect himself from her attack, but at least she's keeping him busy. She thought the move was slick, but he seems more than ready for that kind of feint. And more than ready to retaliate, as well!
The jab shoots in and pops her on the chin, her head jerking backwards from the impact, but the real pain comes next. The cross is perfect- Heavy D! would be proud to see this one, the way it shoots right into the side of her jaw and sends her immediately twisting to the ground, only a slight stumble made in an effort to keep herself from going down.
Wincing in pain, Kaida shakes her head and starts pushing herself up off the ground almost immediately, but her first attempt ends in a stumble. Suddenly, the situation is reversed- now she needs a moment! Lifting a hand quickly to her jaw she manages to get up and stand straight, though she looks a bit wobbly on her legs. Just a bit harder and that one would have knocked her clean out!

While Roberto wasn't pressed from both sides he still was forced to make a decision and he finally does make a mistake. The thrust between his legs strikes the soccer player by surprise. He didn't know what Kurenai had in store for him but he reacts anyway dropping his weight low and just as he's about to dive out at Kurenai, the levering takes his legs from under him and causes him to fall face first onto the ground before receiving a swift kick to the ribs.
The soccer star pushes himself up to all fours as he tips his visor and flashes a grin. "Not bad at all."
Wh... whew! /Sensei, it worked!/ ... okay, uh, so her 'sensei' didn't really teach her that, there was no training montage... maybe she's just feeling a little silly. However, the compliment from Roberto draws a smile from the young girl. "Thanks! It's an honor to go up against you, Miura-san."
And though she's honored she's not going to let up on the man, not for an instant! To give the time that Kaida needs to attack, Kurenai remains on the offensive--drawing her blade backwards, 'til her hands are near her stomach, she makes as if to lunge--and then instead plants the tip of the blade into the matting--using it as a lever as she springs into a very low flying side-kick, at Roberto's chest level, her right foot extended picturesquely. The tip of her weapon stays planted only a few seconds, and then she's pulling the weapon back, in case she should need to guard...
Given a moment to breathe by Kurenai's intervention, Kaida has her feet solidly under her once more. "Thanks, I needed that." Reassured, she is unwilling to let Kurenai go up against Roberto alone, even if she's proven able to handle it. And aside from that, she can't let her completely steal the spotlight, now can she? No way! The last thing Kaida is about to do is end up looking worthless in a fight like this.
So she charges in, sheathing one of her swords and firmly gripping the other with both hands. Waiting for Kurenai's jumpkick to finish she strikes immediately after, but from above. The weapon swings almost straight down and she lets out a sharp yell as she tries to smack the bokken right into the top of Roberto's head, her body twisting slightly as she attempts to follow through with the blow.

And Kurenai doesn't quite manage to steal the spotlight. Though she is instrumental in painting the soccer star into a corner. This time Roberto is forced to choose between two attackers and when he brings his hands up to deflect Kurenai's kick he stands up gritting his teeth as he readies himself against both attackers.
But in moving to block he's delayed just enough by Kurenai that he can't quite react to Kaida's head strike. It's only through his mental preparation that he isn't knocked completely silly.
Wearing him down--the best option for the two of them. Forcing him to choose defenses. It's working! Kurenai rebounds from the blocked kick, pushing off of Roberto's hands, to avoid being close enough for possible retaliation, the pink-haired girl lands lightly, whipping her weapon up--and around, along her back, gripping it with her left hand. A change in stance, clearly, as she stalks forward, moving with a deliberate pace.
"Oooh! And Miura's in a corner... will these two lovely young ladies manage a win?!? Remember what's on the line here, folks!! And don't forget to ride the ferris wheel! IT'S A DOOZY! POWERED BY HADOUKENS!" Okay so it isn't really.
Kurenai turns her head, checking in with Kaida for a moment--and then she nods. Two more steps and she's within range--and suddenly both hands are on her weapon. She swings, a vicious downward strike--but one that's not meant to hit... instead, she uses it to build up speed, the weapon just barely hissing past the mat--and then she's bringing it around ina horizontal slash, the 'blade' flaring up with pink-white chi energy, leaving an afterimage as she slashes for Roberto's torso.
The little pink-haired girl utters a high kiai as she slashes outwards--hoping Kaida will read her intentions and create another difficult situation.
A solid blow finally landed! But even for all that it doesn't seem to have done all /that/ much to Roberto. That's worrying- it really is. If it's that hard to hit him, and it doesn't do that much when she does- the problem is obvious. Just catching Kurenai's nod as she recovers from her swing, she returns it and begins to circle around Roberto.
And just in time, too! That swing might have smacked her good if she had stayed where she was, so close to Kurenai. But as that pinkish energy empowered slash lashes out for Roberto's gut, Kaida is preparing for her own assault. Taking in a quick breath she readies herself. She pulls her sword around and then takes a step forward and plants her feet firmly in the ground. Her hips and ankles twist as her shoulders pull on her arms, this full body motion bringing her bokken around in a vicious swing. As it moves through the air white chi bursts to life around the weapon, the green haired teen letting out a sharp yell, putting about as much strength as she possibly can behind the attack. It's aimed for the base of Roberto's neck, and were it a live, metal blade, well... it wouldn't be pretty.

With the soccer star completely trapped he's pretty much at a loss for a solution. The two both come at him with an overwhelming offense and the pink chi ruler bashes the soccer star right into the white chi bokken and he is sent reeling.
And this time without the moment to prepare himself psychologically he's definitely showing more obvious signs of being hit.
With a quick hop to his feet he goes in shoulder first at Kurenai intending to push his way to freedom in the form of a soccer style tackle and using shoulder to shoulder contact to move out into the open.

Kurenai is just arresting the horizontal motion of her swing when Roberto comes in at her with that flying shoulder; she is woefully out of position to attempt to avoid his attack. So she bears it, grunting as he slams into her, knocking her off-balance enough to let him get out into the open; however, Kurenai doesn't want to let him go that easily. Surely he's not going to run out on the fight--but giving a fighter like him room to move, that's a bad idea.
When she recovers--after a pair of stumbling steps--her stance is back to 'normal', and Kurenai charges in again. This time, she does something that Kaida might remember--attempting her own shoulder charges, to pressure Roberto's defense open, and, should she be successful there, reversing her weapon and smacking him in the chest with it, butt-first, a way to compensate for the difficulty in using a weapon with this kind of reach.
"Keep it up, Kaida-san! I think we've almost got him!" calls the pink-haired swordswoman, excitedly--not that she wants to 'beat down' Roberto, but winning the fight would be sweet indeed and besides... that's what it's all about, right?
Kaida's attack smacks Roberto exactly as she wants it to, and from the looks of it the powerful blow had exactly the effect she was hoping for- that one hurt him. He goes back on the offensive, but Kurenai manages to fend him off fairly well. Good, that means they can both focus on offense. And Kaida, right now, is starting to really feel like she's getting into the swing of things.
Pulling out her second sword she circles around as Kurenai attempts her shoulder tackle. But this time she's not rushing in to try and smack him. Instead she's keeping her distance and centering herself. But just because she's far away doesn't mean she isn't going to attack. A sword held out to each side, the weapons are slowly raised as she whispers a word, "Ultimate..." With both weapons now straight up in the air they suddenly flare with energy and are swung down in unison, a loud shout coming from her as a large white blast of energy suddenly streaks out towards Roberto. ...hopefully Kurenai can get out of the way in time, too! "MOONLIT SWORD!"

Roberto Miura doesn't have time to say much more before all hell breaks loose on him. He frantically turns around bringing his hands together as he tries to stop the blast of chi with his red gloved hands. His efforts are successful but he opens himself up right for Kurenai's own shoulder charge and strike sending him stumbling back into that corner.
In an attempt to get himself some freedom he then changes his target.
He charges right at Kaida with a powerful kick. If he can get that, he'll use her as a human soccer ball as he works the give and go with himself before shooting her at the opposite corner.
Just about everything Roberto's done has been pretty damn impressive--he's using much more complicated techniques, taking bigger risks. But he has to, in order to win; his power and skill levels just aren't high enough to where he can brush off the two girls. This is obvious--and while they have the advantage, right now, it only takes a second, or less, for an advantage to turn around. He could still be the victor here. Becoming complacement would only tilt the odds in his favor.
Having changed targets to Kaida, Roberto rushes right past Kurenai--she's a touch surprised, and so she just lets him go. To be honest, this has got to be really tough for him... Kurenai almost feels bad, seeing as this was a rather randomly-chosen pairing (or /was/ it...?) Turning, she notes, absently, that Roberto just gave her his back--and she intends to take it. Four steps and on the last one she crouches, then leaps high into the air... drawing 'oohs' and 'aahs' from the crowd as she flips in midair and comes plummeting down, altering her trajectory--aiming to 'stab' Roberto along the back with her weapon, to land with the weapon point down and her legs absorbing the impact. It's very picturesque... but perhaps a bit too showy...?

The powerful chiblast was stopped, but it was enough pressure that Kurenai was able to crash into him and force him back yet again. And it also seems to have gotten his attention! She sets herself as he rushes at her, and once more she's faced with his powerful kicks. The first one comes and she crosses her swords over each other, absorbing much of the blow, and then the second comes. This time her arm drops to protect her side, but the leg pounds into it and sends her stumbling away with both a sore arm and a sore side. But it's much, much better than the nasty blow that she would have taken otherwise.
Seeing Kurenai flip through the air she decides to try and take up Roberto's attention taking a large step forward towards him and stabbing forward with both swords, one after another. Bokken and katana really aren't meant for stabbing, but getting poked in the face is still going to hurt. Besides, if he's busy dealing with something in his face it might give Kurenai all the time she needs to beat him into the ground! "Gotcha!"

The oohs and ahhs from the audience gives the soccer star all the warning he needs to avoid the thrust downward. But then he ends up forgetting about the opponent in front of him and he rushes forward right into a bokken strike into the face.
He raises a finger for just a moment. It looked like he actually might say something but the words never quite come out. He teeters for a few moments as he struggles to stay up but eventually his body just says, 'No more,' and he hits the ground with a dull thud. Good night, Irene.

*WHUMP* That's the sound of Kurenai landing. And though she didn't get the job done, Kaida -did-. Roberto falls rather comically, but he -does- fall, and the announcer waits a handful of beats to make sure Roberto's not getting up.
"AND WE HAVE A WINNER!" Pause.
"TWO WINNERS!!" The announcer climbs into the ring to hand over the prizes--and to quietly explain that the charity thing will be handled a bit later.
"For now, ladies, congratulations and we hope you enjoy your prizes," he says, in a normal tone of voice, before turning to the medics on hand.
Kurenai, for her part, looks to Kaida, and smiles, looking relieved. "Phew! We did it!" Slinging her yardstick back onto her back, Kurenai regards the season pass, then back up to Kaida.
"Neh, Kaida-san, let's go ride some rides, what do you say?"
Kaida pulls her bokken back after they make their strikes, ready to defend herself against some incoming attack. She may have hit, but it wasn't enough for Kurenai to land her blow, so that means--
It apparently means 'good enough' because Roberto goes down! She looks rather surprised when that happens, blinking a bit and then taking in a deep breath and letting out a sigh as the announcer shouts their victory, forcing herself to relax some now that she doesn't have to stay constantly on guard. The bokken are slid into her belt, and she regards Kurenai with a grin. "We did, I can't believe it. We make a pretty good team, don't we, Kurenai-san?" She thought they might, but that worked out very well!
And then comes something else, as a surprise. A years free pass to the park! She'd completely forgotten about that, as the fight wore on. "Great idea. After that it'll be good to have some fun of a different kind." Poor Roberto, she can't even thank him for the good fight when he's out cold. There's probably some good medical teams waiting for him though, there always are.
"...I wonder what charity we should have them give the money to..." She really doesn't have a clue!
