Roberto - Relationship w/o Benefits: Pt. 1

Description:

It's winter again the days are so chilly in Southtown and of course this means that the majority of Seijyun students are spending their time indoors, trapped in a 'prison' of tradition. Though the difference here is that most of the students are happier here since it's simply too cold out.

Yurika Kirishima always enjoys winter, not just because she sees it as a beautiful season, but things tend to get less stressful on campus and, as such, doesn't leave her with a stack of paperwork to attend to. So on a free day like this? Well she decided to spend a little time with Roberto as she hadn't bothered him (or worked much on sociality on a more intimate level) in some time. She sent a text message that pretty much said 'Let's meet at the park at 3pm, I'm free.'. Not 'are you free'. But considering it's the Kirishma that's about as pleasent as it'll get for the time being.

So there she is, dressed in her school uniform but wearing a big, lovely tan jacket with the fluffy collar and cuffs and white earmuffs (with the band settled behind her head since it wouldn't work on top). Perhaps what's most noticable is her shoulderbag though, one that's holding a laptop computer.. And she can't wait to show it off!

That stalker, Yurika. One of these days, Roberto's going to figure out how the hell she seems to know /when/ he is free. But for now Roberto pretty much grins and bears it. After all, he knows that it could definitely be worse. He's experienced it.

When Roberto makes his appearance, the usual sky blue visor is replaced with a dark blue skully with a visor which conviently covers his eyes, blue jacket, and black slacks. And on his back is a red backpack.

It is only a matter of time of Roberto walking through the park that he was eventually going to bump in to Yurika.

"You know, I could've had a class or a practice around this time. University doesn't exactly operate on the same time table as High School." He pauses for a second. The words seem foreign to him even in his brain because what he's about to say next doesn't feel natural when it comes to Yurika Kirishima but he forces it out of his mouth anyway. "But it's good to see you." When he takes the time to think about it, it feels even less natural to hear those words coming out of his mouth.

After a moment he mentally shakes it off before continuing. "So wasup?"

Stalker? Hardly, if one were to ask Yurika she's just simply a woman who stays on top of things through casual observation. Yes, that's a pretty solid-sounding truth. Anyway, Roberto isn't a person who's easy to miss, with his visor and that hair of his.. But it the distinct (to her) sound of his footsteps that gets her attention, the well-dressed student turning her head to look to Roberto with a pleasent smile. "And good afternoon to you too, Roberto," is her response.

However once it sinks in that he said what he just said.. Well, her shoulders relax a touch and her cheeks pinken, ".. O- Of course it is.." she starts, a hand raised to her cheek. "It is nice to see you as well, of course, it's been quite some time. I.. Apologize for calling you on such short notice. But I wanted to show you something."

And that she does, she unsnaps her shoulderbag and draws out a light blue laptop computer; the cover shiny and light blue in color with a silver plate with it's logo on top. "Look at this, I bought a laptop computer a couple of weeks ago, did you know that you can watch SNF on streaming video? I was watching Akira's match against Vice and.. Ah, that other person.. I never realized having an electronic notebook would be so handy."

Yes, Yurika is positivly beaming. Just how old-fashioned is she?

Roberto for his part is quite familiar with notebooks and actually got one for himself when he started going to college. Good for taking notes of lectures and all that. So when she gushes over it he finds himself blinking.

"Wait... huh... You didn't know about streaming video?" He stops and waves off his own question deciding he has no need to have his own question answered. Instead, he switches to a different topic altogether. "I didn't know that you knew Akira. Though I probably shouldn't be surprised, you do go to the same school."

Yurika blinks a couple of times to the first question, "Was.. I supposed to?" she asks, though smartly on Roberto's part he changes the subject. Though with this newfound knowledge of hers, who knows what's going to happen now! Now, at the mention of Akira, Yurika visably softens.. For the first time, the soccer player may see a truely warm smile on her features, as her grip tightens a touch on her technoware.

"Oh, well, we do have rather seperate worlds so it doesn't surprise me to hear that at all.. But yes, Akira and I have been close friends for a couple of years now. We had met in culinary arts and she was having trouble mixing cake batter, it was so adorable.." Yurika starts, glancing up to the sky, "It's so curious how a girl who works so delicately on motorcycles has trouble stirring, it's the most puzzling thing, don't you think?"

Confessing to being best friends, however, may not have been the wisest thing; especially if Roberto recalls anything about Akira in Thailand. On the other hand, it may make their relationship even more confusing. ".. Hmn, so you know of her as well; on the fighing circuit I presume?" There's some feigned ignorance there.

And in fact Roberto does remember. Especially after Roberto specifically mentioned that Akira was a possible target of Aprile's attacks due to her involvement in Thailand to her older brother, Daigo. He doesn't mention it. After all, he's trying to put that war behind him and he'd rather not pay for more therapy because he decided to open old wounds.

Roberto decides to latch on to the other possible topics. "Sometimes a person's talents don't lie in a certain thing. Though it helps if one loves what they're doing." He shrugs. "But... yeah. I fought her in a Neo League fight. It was a pretty good fight. I'm pretty sure you could either find it on YouTube or FightTube. Truth be told, I think I got through that one through sheer luck."

Of course, Yurika nods in agreement, "That is very true, I suppose I would be rather clumsy when it came to bicycle repair.. And.. FightTube.." That sounds extremely handy, she'll be certain not to forget that, though she can't help but frown a touch to learn that he had apparently won. It isn't that Roberto isn't lacking in skill, of course, but that didn't mean she had to like it.

"I see, I'll be certain to look that over. Though speaking of which, it has been some time since we last went toe to toe has't it, Mister Miura?" Yurika then asks with a touch of playfulness in her tone. "You know lately I've been thinking about entering the League, or the fight scene in general myself but.. Well, I suppose I do better in musical recitals in front of thousands of people more than fighting. Anyway, I was wondering if perhaps sometime next week we could have a duel."

When Yurika frowns there's a bit of a conflict. The same woman who wanted him to be her boyfriend is unhappy that he won? On the other hand he can sort of understand why. Akira was her friend. Her best friend. And he can understand the philosophy of 'Bros Before Hos.' He tries to think up a female equivalent. 'Chicks Before Pricks,' doesn't quite work as well in his mind.

The subject and the facial features change and the soccer phenom is quite grateful. "Uh yeah... It has been awhile. And actually I've been out of the spotlight for too long myself. I've just been so busy with papers and the Gorin Program that I haven't been able to free myself to return to the fight scene. I would like to fight you again since it's been so long. Besides the cross training would do me good."

"Oh believe me, I understand that. I'll be graduating soon and finally all of that will be over.." Yurika says with a wistful sigh. "I've been thinking about many things, though, the last year attending Seijyun has really gotten me thinking.. But that said it looks like we're in agreement."

"Very well, let's try to find some time to meet before the fourteenth," Yurika then adds, slipping the laptop back into her bag, "I think it being before the fourteenth would be the most ideal timeframe. Oh and did you know there is a sale going on at the tea shop in the Southtown Village mall? I was thinking about getting something from there but I've decided to hold off until.. After the fourteenth." Yurika nods thoughtfully, pointer finger lightly tapping her cheek.

Roberto knows what happens on the fourteenth. After Yurika's 'gift' last year and the gift that she extracted from him the month after, he knows what's supposed to happen. But the with the hints that Yurika is dropping, it's as if she's expecting something. It's not like he celebrates it as like he's someone from the West... Except maybe an observation of Brazilian customs

Roberto decides to nip this in the bud right away, "Oh really? Are you getting something for me then? Hopefully nothing like a butler's uniform. Because something like that will make not want to get anything for White Day and you'll be lucky if I cool down enough to get you something by Dia dos Namorados."

Roberto pulls out his cellphone and checks the time. "Crud! I have to pick up my brothers. Anyway take it easy, Yurika." And with that he's off.

Dios.. Dos.. Namorados? Yurika stares at Roberto a moment and then her lower lip draws out into a little pout, "W- Well.. of course I was going to get something thoughtful.." she replies, albeit a bit distractedly. Looks like she's going to have to do some shopping as well then. And with that said she raises a gloved hand to give the soccer star a wave, with her mysterious little smile, "All right, take care, I'll see you soon.."

It's about time for her to be on her way as well; not to do any work, but to catch up on some reading.. Some very important, educational and mind-stimulating reading.
