The Neo-League was a way for the best warriors in the world to prove their worth. This was a simple, and very popular, truth. And of all the locations in the world, none were as popular as Metro City. Except maybe Southtown. It is really an east vs west thing.
Adon had a very good reason to fight in the Neo-League. The first was to beat people up with Muay Thai. Unlike the tackiness of SNF, he could have real matches, clean of the trash Howard plugged in. The second was pride. To win the NL was to win a world championship. After losing to Sagat, pride was something Adon was desperately short on. And after losing to a little girl... No. Hotaru was no little girl. She was a brat that needed to be BROKEN.
The fight was set right outside a very famous skyscaper, and right over a very famous red stain. The point were a Mad Gear emperor fell down with his criminal empire. The Emperor of Muay Thai stood at one end of the Sidewalk, arms crossed, staring at the crowd behind him with a twisted grin. Maki. He never heard of her. This was either comforting.. or troubling. The camera crew gets their gear up as the judge looks up and down the field of battle.
Maki doesn't know of Adon either, but she's going to be meeting him for the first time in person. And on her home turf no less. This should be quite a good match, in part because her fellow supporters will be cheering for her en masse. Between the morale support and her skills as a Bushin practitioner, Maki is confident she'll come out on top in today's Neo League battle... if not close to the top.
Unlike Adon, Maki had been taking a break from SNFs since she found them to be too bizarre and silly, whereas the Neo League was all about the fight, which is what Maki lives for. The only other thing she likes better is whupping Mad Gear punks good. Which is ironic, since in her last Neo League battle, she took on Poison... and taught her a lesson that she'll most likely never forget!
Standing at the opposite end of the sidewalk, Maki performs some quick stretches to loosen up before jumping up and down to get the blood flowing. She then gets into her fighting stance and waits for the order to start the match.
Adon turns around, face locked in a grin. The thrill of a good fight. That WAS what it all was about. The Emperor of Muay Thai, though, shrinks his grin to a purse as he turns his nose up at his opponent. "THIS is the GIRL who CHALLENGES the EMPEROR of MUAY THAI?" His pursed lips seem to sour for a moment, his body growing tense. Dropping his posture down slightly, he just shook his head. "You aren't even FIT to WASH my FEET!"
As the judge nods, and waves the flag, the signal of the fight was made clear. "BEGIN!" Immediately, the posture of the Jaguar turned up. Both paws drew up as the Emperor of Muay Thai began to run. As the flag was brought back from over the field, Adon was flying through the air, his left knee tucked in tight as he kept the right leg out for balance. Seeming to be flying in the match knee first, he tries to pile the knee of Muay Thai right into the body of the blond warrior.

"Wash YOUR feet? Listen, unless you've trampled in the crap I've dealt with, your feet are nothing compared to what I've stepped in!" Maki replies with a scowl on her face. It's obvious that she means the Mad Gears are the crap she's been in, and no matter how much she knocks them out, they always come back for more. Typical. But either way, if Adon doesn't believe that Maki's the hero of Metro City, that's fine with her. She'll prove it to him in this battle.
"Ready when you are-- OOF!" Maki's attempt to get out of the way of Adon's incoming kick is a bit of a failure, since she ends up getting hit directly in the gut, knocking her down to the sidewalk. But Adon had best watch himself, since as soon as Maki hits the ground, she's stunned for a brief second, then rolls back up and then swings her tonfa directly at the back of his head.

The moment Adon's knee makes contact, he doesn't take long to recover. The Jaguar was on the prowl now. He tasted first blood. As Maki hits the ground, Adon keeps going with the knee, landing in a run. He wasn't going to give Maki a chance to get up.
Unfortunately, he underestimates the speed of the girl, as well as her skill with the weapons. In what he took was a stun, he realized was a bluff. Maki is up on her feet at impressive speed, exhibiting impressive agility. Adon just grins harder, a strange twinkle in his eye. Continuing forward, his entire body seems to flex. As the tonfa comes, the Jaguar jams an arm up, practically smashing his own limb against the weapon. The impact is like stone hitting stone, Adon barely noticing the impact short of a minor bruise.
And then, his other hand shot forward. "Agile, AREN'T YOU. Tell me, WHO ARE YOU? The Emperor of MUAY THAI is ALWAYS concerned about..." Adon began, trying to get a grip upon the Hero of Metro City. If successful, he would bring himself closer, knee first, and smash Maki's body right into his knee. After said impact, he would just toss her behind him, right back towards the middle of the ring.

"I'm Maki Genryusai, Bushin-ryu practitioner, and one of the people who helped protect Metro City from the wrath of the Mad Gears... and I still do to this day!" Maki replies sharply, watching Adon as he attempts to grab her, and unfortunately he does succeed. But Maki's agility takes over and she brings her tonfa up to deflect Adon's knee a little. The impact does hit Maki a little, but she could've fared worse had it not been for her defensive maneuver.
Maki then pulls back and looks at Adon. "You're pretty good, and not just for your style. I haven't had a good fight like this for awhile." Maki smirks a little. "But I'm just warming up." She resumes her fighting stance and watches Adon with intent.

"HIS PREY!"
A hero. Adon gritted his teeth as he drives his knee inward. He had little need for heroes or villains. Mako was a student, Adon was a master. He could not take sides in the great battle over good and evil. He only fills their ranks. As Maki rebuffs his grapple, Adon holds for only a second, inspecting his opponent.
"A GOOD FIGHT? Have you NOT FOUGHT the LIKES of SAGAT? You BETTER be WARMING UP, or you will have LITTLE ELSE but your -FIGHTING SPIRIT-" Upon that last word, the Jaguar leaps into the air, keeping low to the ground as he tries to clear horizontal distance. Maki was trying to read him. Keep up with him. It was understandable. The Emperor relied more on speed than power, and trying to pin him down was a good way of messing up his offense. But Adon's offense was a force to be reckoned.
As his legs reaches an apex, the rest of Adon's body rights itself up. Keeping his heel high, he aimed it straight in the center of Maki's body. Those Tonfas were dangerous to his offense. One half-hearted hit, and she could reverse it on an instant. So as the energy arced behind his foot, Adon smashed it downward, attempting to break through the girl's defenses to her solar plexus.

A kick that fast and so full of energy looks like it could really cause some damage if it connected with Maki. And Maki doesn't want to find out firsthand how bad something like that would hurt. So she does what any sensible fighter would do: Get out of the way!
The blonde-haired ninja jumps to the side and rolls a little, meaning that Adon misses completely... at least Maki, anyway. If he hits anything else (or anyONE else) then that's his problem. Speaking of problems, though, Maki's got something else in store for him. Something similar in some ways to what he just showed her, but also different too.
Almost immediately after Adon lands on the ground, Maki literally jumps onto her side so that she's balancing on the tip of her tonfa(!) and then spins around swiftly like a human whirlwind, with one of her feet extended as well. Adon had best watch out or he might go for a spin!

Adon's foot smashes down, shattering pavement in a shower of concrete shrapenal. He howls, though not in pain. His foot was like a solid piece of leather, almost like a baseball bat in strength and force. No, he screams in frustration as the hero of Metro City evades his rapid strike.
Still recovering from the impact, he just turns to stare at the oncoming Maki, already utilizing her speed to the fullest advantage. Exploiting his moment of weakness, Adon simply holds there, hardening his body through tensed muscles. he hoped he could just hold steady. While toughened, he is not immobile. And with a steady sweep, Maki knocks the Emperor of Muay Thai up in her whirlwind, and then right down to the ground.
"How DARE YOU." Adon growls as he shoves himself up. He had lost speed now. Momentum. But his body was barely injured in the storm that Maki brought about. He himself would need something much more powerful than that. Still woozy from the spinning, Adon reacts with something reliable: A single, swift punch. Keeping his body back, his fist lunges like a snake, attempting to rake across the chin of the female warrior as he considered the next course of action.

Maki doesn't say anything at this moment. She simply watches Adon, wondering what else he's got up his sleeve at the moment. Unfortunately, it just so happens that he's going to prove to Maki that sometimes even something as simple as a swift punch can be quite useful in a battle like this. Namely since Maki's defense fails on her, and she gets decked in the chin.
"Owww!" Maki holds her chin in pain, partially sensitive due to the last battle she had with Poison. She finds herself hurting, but no blood is coming out yet. As for Adon, though, Maki's got him in his sights as she attempts to grab him by the shoulders and throw him across the area, hopefully landing on the pavement.

Adon's snappy jab catches Maki on the chin. This, in itself, is what he needed. As he gets his bearings again, Maki snags his shoulders and tosses him. Well, tries to. Adon falls back upon the pavement, rolling with the throw. Perking up, he takes some beating from the pavement itself, but those minor abrasions mean nothing. No, Adon wasn't even slowed down a bit.
He was charging back to Maki, grinning like a cat. "What's WRONG? Can't take a HIT from the EMPEROR of MUAY THAI?" With that, he simply pounces through the air again, tucking both knees in. This time, though, he was winding his arm back, readying to slam an elbow across the girl's face before dropping back down on the ground to begin unleashing the TRUE MUAY THAI up close and personal.

Shaking her head at Adon barely being scraped by that last bit, Maki would slap herself if she had the time to. For now, she's got Adon coming at her up close and personal with his elbow. And that's something Maki cannot tolerate at all. So what does she do?
She teaches him a lesson, that's what! She grabs his elbow with both hands, albeit in different spots, and in one swift motion, throws him onto the pavement. The impact does strike her hands rather hard, but it could've been a lot worse. "Keep your elbows off of me! I'm not a dining room table, you know!" Maki says sarcastically at Adon.
The Muay Thai charge is blunted by another throw, another toss down. Curious. Adon was not used to those with weapons having such agile responses. Then again, they were Tonfas. Excellent tools for both offense and defense, especially for those who were... fragile.
Adon is sent across the field, tumbling as he hits the ground. "JAGGA?!" He snapped, perking up only after a few painful rolls. "A TABLE?! Let me say it like THIS. The only SERVING I will do.." The Emperor of Muay Thai growls as he sprung through the air again. "Is YOU!"
Arms out, the Jaguar was simply trying to tackle his prey now. Pure speed. If he caught the poor Maki in his clutches, he would simply smash her down to the ground, and break his fall with a well placed elbow in her throat. Brutal, yes. But naturally, he had to win, didn't he?

Brutal, yes. But only if it connects. Adon may have the brutality and swiftness for his unique abilities, but Maki's also a swift woman herself. She's proven it before in combat, and she'll prove it again. When Adon comes directly at Maki, the Bushin ninja leaps into the air above Adon, doing a quick somersault, and then spinning around quickly, attempting to drive the sole of her sneaker into the back of Adon's head.

Maki's agility was wearing down on both the Muay Thai Master's patience and fight. More than ever, Adon wanted to pin the girl down and just BREAK HER. She was not Muay Thai, and he suspected that the moment he got something on her, she would break. Badly. Adon decides to take a gamble.
As Maki shoots above Adon, he locks on. Turning around, He takes the parting kick face-first instead of back first. Face already swelling up, Adon snaps out his hand to the girl's leg. If successful, he would bring her to the ground and simply twist at the joint. He would try and break that leg, smash it hard. Cripple her, if he had to.

You want to break Maki's leg? Well, let's see if you can hit a moving target. Maki sees Adon coming at her and attempts to drop into her whirlwind again, but she's too slow and Adon grabs her leg. She finds herself on the ground in a world of pain. Yelling out, she tries not to pass out as the pain surges through her body. When Adon is finally done, Maki doesn't get up right away. She's too in pain to get up immediately. Eventually she does, but her leg is showing signs it's in bad shape. "You bastard," Maki mutters under her breath.
"KUH HA HA HAAAAAOOO!" The Emperor of Muay Thai howls as he jerks Maki down to the ground. Using her body as leverage for the base, he sticks his arm around her leg and just jams it in the wrong direction. And with that, he steps back As Maki snaps out against him, Adon again cackles madly, and just looks down on the girl with a big fat smile.
"Come on, GIRL. You ASKED for a FIGHT from the EMPEROR of MUAY THAI. Just GRIN and BEAR IT!"
Adon quickly springs from a stand still, shooting up towards Maki's face with a single knee jutting out. His arms were still crossed, his sneer was still there. It isn't until the second knee pumps up does he open his arms. He was intending to break her jaw as well as her leg now, make her leave this fight in a body cast. For what reason? To show the world what Muay Thai meant. What messing with Adon meant. An example only meant to stroke the Emperor's ego.

Even in her weakened state, Maki isn't going to let Adon get her injured that easily. When she sees him coming at her, the blonde haired ninja brings her arms into a defensive stance, protecting her already sensitive jaw from any further injury. As a result, her forearms soak up majority of the damage and protect her from needing emergency dental surgery.
Maki doesn't respond right away, though. Instead, she steps back and focuses on catching her breath... and trying not to focus on the leg which is definitely injured pretty badly. It's a wonder she can still stand on it, albeit with difficulty.

Again those blasted Tonfa's come into play again. Instead of taking an opportunity to have Maki carried away on a strecher, he is stuck with having both knee impact arms and Tonfa. "YOW!" The emperor snaps. Landing behind Maki with a bounce, he turns to face his opponent, balanced on one knee. "A rest? REALLY? Do you REALLY want to EXTEND this match?" Adon cackles, and spreads his arms open wide. "THIS is the PROTECTOR of METRO CITY? RIDICULOUS!" Adon sticks a finger at Maki, and promptly gives her a thumbs down. "The EMPEROR DOES NOT APPROVE!"

Seems that Adon's also got the same idea that Maki has, taking a break to rest. But resting all the time isn't going to win battles. It's putting aside the injuries and pain of the fight and attempting to capitalize on your opponent's weakness, whatever it may be, to finish the battle and come out on top. And Maki can gladly attest to that, as she's endured countless forms of adversary in her life. And Adon just happens to be another adversary in her path.
"You don't approve of me being the hero of Metro City? Well, I got news for you, pal." Maki narrows her eyes and glares daggers at Adon. "You couldn't even be the emperor of a pile of dirt!" And with that, Maki somehow finds the strength to jump onto a nearby car, and fly directly at Adon with her leg extended in a flying kick.

Snapping his arm up, Adon just continues to grin at the springing Maki. "That is where you are WRONG, GIRL." As Maki leaps off a car, Adon simple catches the kick, and shoves it off. "I am MUAY THAI. That is something that YOU cannot appreciate. Unless, of course..." Adon looked down at the leg he so warmly snapped. "You NEED another lesson."
Adon is already walking towards Maki. Recovered, still on the ground. It doesn't matter. Winding his entire body up, he simply snaps out his leg again, attempting to slam it right in the same leg he man-handled just a short time ago.

Just because she's got a serious injury doesn't mean that Maki's down and out. Or even down for that matter. In fact, for a ninja like her, being able to dodge is something that comes naturally to her. So Adon might find it rather surprising to see Maki dodging his incoming kick so well. But that's not the only surprise Maki has in store for Adon.
"I don't care about other people's styles. If you want to be Muay Thai, that's fine, I'll still always be Bushin-Ryu. And I'm going to prove to Guy that I am truly the master of that style. But that is for another time!" Maki gets closer to Adon after dodging. "Right now, my priority is defeating you!" As soon as the last word is spoken, Maki's attempting a swift kick with her good leg directly at Adon's stomach. If it connects, Maki plans to grab the stunned fighter, slam the short end of her tonfa into his head, and then throw him to the ground.

Adon sweeping kick doesn't add more insult to injury. No matter. It wasn't as if he was in any drastic trouble. As Maki snaps right back, Adon brings his other leg up into a kneebutt, intending to catch Maki in the gut as well, sending her up in the air with him. Unfortunately, Maki does stun the man. But not in the way she hoped. While she was aiming for the stomach, she apparently hit a bit lower.
Adon is smashed in the head again, compounding the same bulging sore that was generated before. The look upon his face was one of rage. Tossed to the ground, the man struggled. "You little.... -BITCH!-" The emperor of Muay Thai groaned, writhing on the gorund.
Maki finishes with her combination and then steps back to look at Adon, who apparently hasn't had enough. He's got the guts to call Maki a bitch. And while Maki would generally slam someone onto the ground extra hard for that, the fact that Adon's already been punished enough at the moment makes Maki decide to give him a temporary break.
"Well, if you think I'm a bitch..." A pause, then Maki says with a sly smirk, "I'd tell you what I think, but I'm not the one to use extremely offensive language without just cause." She hmmphs a little.

"JUST CAUSE" Adon rises up, eyes burning as his face shifts from a desperate grimlock to a furious scowl. "YOU WANT JUST CAUSE?!" Picking up the pace, he just charges towards her. He would attempt to close the gap between him and her, to force a clinch. "I will GIVE YOU JUST CAUSE!" The man snapped. If he managed to close in, he would simply grab her, and toss her right into the same car she bounded right off of. The THailand rage was slowly reaching a peak with him.

"Well, you asked for it!" Maki says, and almost immediately flies into Adon with her leg outstretched... going at a rather fast rate of speed. The way she's going, she's gonna send Adon down a ways with her super charged flying kick. But that's not to say Maki's got this whole thing down. The fact that Adon grabs her just as she begins her attack means that she loses some of her trajectory, and ends up flying into a nearby piece of sound equipment. Fortunately, she hits it with her good leg so it doesn't hurt as bad as it might have.
"Come on, I'm still waiting!" Maki shouts to Adon, apparently eager to finish this.
The explosion from Maki would have made Adon proud... if he wasn't on the recieving end. The power behind her attack, mixed with her speed, was simply impressive. Adon only manages to change her direction slightly as he is driven hard into the wall of the skyscraper, unleashes a howl in pain. "NRRRRRROOU!" Eyes burning, he looks the heroine of Metro City, mocking him as he laid there. And yet, upon his face was some strange, knowing sneer.
The Jaguar shoots up the wall, putting himself high up. As she is still near the sound equipment, she was still near the edge, the crowd that was just beginning to ebb. Adon knew what he was going to do. Springing from the wall at high speed, the jaguar pounces towards the girl, flipping through the air. Just like the Jaguar Kick of before, he was preparing to drop his heel down upon the center of the girl, energy still arc from behind his swing foot. But Adon would do it again. And again. And try to drive Maki into the crowds. If she dodged, then she would have to let Adon smash into the crowds. If she blocked, she would have to hold, to keep her from falling into the crowds. He was going to use the bystanders to force her to hold her ground... her love of the people of Metro City.

In her injured state, Maki can't always quite find the ability to dodge when she wants to. Especially with a bad leg that's sending pain into her again. She tries her best, but gets hit extra hard, and goes flying backwards into another car. Fortunately, it doesn't have an alarm on it, but if Maki did, she'd be going off about how low her stamina is right now. In fact, she's pretty much out.
In one last ditch effort to inflict a little more punishment on Adon, Maki swings her tonfa at him as she heads to the ground.

Adon, upon landing, doesn't toy with his prey. This was time for the kill. No games. While he didn't strike true, he struck true enough. As he recovers, a new wave of focus consumes him. He had to seal the deal. Just like with Sagat. Just like with Alex. As her tonfa comes snapping around, Adon just tenses his entire body up, and snaps his arm up. The tonfa bashes hard against his arm, but like an iron bar, it unmoves.
The fight was over.
Adon spun around, removing his circlet. "HOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAA!" He howled, opening his arms to the half-hearted crowd as a medical team moves to check up on Maki.
Unfortunately, some of the crowd won't be cheering for Adon. A good portion of them will be booing Adon for knocking out their hero. Some of them even rush over to check on Maki, who lays in the street bloodied and barely conscious. The medical teams wave them away, followed by security officers who join in assisting getting the crowd out of the way. Apparently, Adon did a good job with Maki, since another good hit to her bad leg would've broken it. Her arm is in bad shape too. But at least she's alive.
The Bushin-Ryu fighter is carried off on a stretcher to a nearby ambulance, which transports her to Metro City hospital. Just like the Mad Gears, Maki's also known to be a regular there when she gets beaten up. After all, even the best heroes can't win them all.
