Description: Episode 2: Mad Midget Moonlight Mauler OR Nat Nearly Nails 'Em! While taking a midnight jog, Nataya senses an upset in the order of things and goes to investigate. Why the Southtown newcomer does her best to put Choi in a state of peace by knocking the panty theif's block off, Choi's sheer craziness wins out in the end of an explosive battle!
Downtown. 3 AM. What will you be doing with a phone call rings? Deep in the neon-laced streets of the the residential zone of Southtown, the city was not quite silent. Murmurs of nightlife occasionally echo through the witching hour. The dull crackles of midnight trains pull into the few stations that litter between towering skyscrapers, bringing home weary party-goers. From the depths of the crowed apartments lie the less intense individuals: families, friends, and loners.
Outside the window Mizuki Apartments, room 218, was a set of clothing. The summer was dry. The summer was warm. Miss Sakura thought it was economical to leave the clothing out on the balcony to dry throughout the day. Then a call from her mother. Dad had a stroke. In the hospital. Barely alive. Left out and forgotten, they weren't that valuable. After all, who would care.
A clang was heard. On the metal grating, a low figure crept. From the dim light of the moon, it could be seen clenching some bright... clothing. Greens. Red. Pink metallic. The dainty triangles glimmer in the light.
And near them, a flash of tiny white teeth.
And normally this would be where out heroine would appear on a rooftop, shadow cast over her features as mists swirled about her feet. A dark, gritty realistic avenger of evil against another criminal malcontent. Eyes would flash, a speech would be given, and then the dark figure would swoop down upon Choi with a witty, yet grim rejoinder and the battle between good and evil would rage through the night.
But that's not exactly what happens.
Nataya's footsteps echo in the alleyway below the figure on the grating. A steady pace, her breath is rhtmic, calm. Despite her impressive speed, the girl doesn't look even the slight bit winded. For her, what is normally a sprint becomes a nightly jog through the dark areas of town.
And then it hits her. A pinprick of something above that piques her interest. Sneakers stop as the woman, dressed in bike shorts and a gray USMC sweatshirt she got a thrift store squints her eyes, peering upwards into the inky blackness, lit only by the dim light of the moon and the streetlamps. He's small and hard to see, yet the feeling is unmistakeable. A strong burst of some kind of emotion pours out from the blackness of night.
And judging from the impish grin she can barely see etched upon the man's face?
A crime is occuring. The natural order has been unbalanced. Equilibrium has been breached. Still, there's no need for action yet. She begins to mutter, mists pouring from her loose sleeves as they envelop her. And then a puff of silvery smoke announces Nataya, appearing just above Choi on the grating as she clings effortlessly with a calm, serene look on her face and a slight smile that just makes it look like she's happy to be there.
"Hi there. For lack of anything more brilliant to say... what in the world do you think you're doing?"
The figure doesn't seem to notice the girl. At least, until she speaks. The little man screams, and falls backwards. His legs snap out, clinging to the bars of the balcony. The little man is saved from a 2 story fall. Sadly, his spoils are freed from their new master. The panties fly in the night sky, playing in the moon light as they land in the alleyway.
Choi was becoming... very upset. See, he had everything planned out. Jiro fell into a deep sleep at around 2 AM. After disabling the security locks and alarms, he would sneak out to pick up some valuable contraband. Porn. Panties. And then, he would sneak back in, fix the alarm, and all would be safe. Choi pulled this scheme before. But this... this girl...
The little man doesn't move at first. "Um, I, miss!" He stammers, patting himself down. With a low grunt, he bends himself over the bar with surprising agility, balancing himself carefully on the thin rafter. "Listen, lady, I hope, I mean. Did you see that.." The little man checks the woman over. And suddenly, smiles. "Well now." He began, those bright teeth showing themselves again. "What is a fine young lady doing up at an hour like this? Expecting Santa Claws to come by to give a special gift?" A pink tongue rolls over the top line of teeth.
"Ho... Ho.... Oh."
Nataya considers Choi for a moment or two. She seems more interested in seeing him than listening to his words. Does she take him seriously? You'd better beleive it. The Master Monk had told her before she left her home that she'd encounter many strange and unusual individuals on her journies around the world. He had said to her:
"Nataya, in your travels, you will meet many strange individuals. They will be frightening of disposition and strange in manner."
"And I should accept them for who they are?"
"Of course," he had said with a kindly old smile. "However, accept only as much as you can."
Nataya read between the lines during her master's teachings, even if there were no lines to read. And in her mind, that meant one thing: that if someone was doing something unacceptable? Then it was her duty to ensure that she reduced them to something she could accept or at least try.
"No," she says thoughtfully, and she sniifs once, pushing her hair out of the way as she pulls herself up into a better position. "I'm going to set things back the way they should. So let me fill in the gaps," she says, raising a finger. "Um, I'm going to stop you. No, you'll never catch me. Watch me try. Ha ha ha, who do you think you are? I'm the one that's going to take you down, blah blah. Blah. Blahblah blah." Her finger darts back and forth as she speaks in a vaguely singsong voice.
"Okay, snappy patter time's over. Time to kick in your teeth." And with that, she raises a foot to boot Choi right off the grating and into the alley below where she can get a better shot at him.

Choi slowly began to frown as Nataya began her banter. See, he is an old fart. Or, at least a middle-aged whimper. This tank-top wearing babe, while very easy on the eyes, was giving the smarmy counter. Hell, she wasn't even feeding him with anything to munch on. What? Catch me? Take down? Choi tilted his hat back, looking up at the girl. "Listen, toots. I just wanted to sleep with y-"
Choi smoothly crosses his right leg behind the left, evading the oncoming boot. Still adjusting his hat, the Korean remarks with a thin film of sleaze "Babe. I think you should leave the gap filling... to me." Choi snaps out his free hand towards the leg. If he made a grip, he would have pulled her over the edge, using the opposite edge of the rafter as a brace.
He would also check whether she was a leg shaver or not. This is very important.

The hand snags Nataya by the leg without issue, ans she's pulled free from the grate, tumbling down to the ground below. She hits the ground hard, but she rolls with it, skidding to a stop as she adjusts herself accordingly. Nataya may be monk trained, but she does have the stylings of an urban dweller. As a result she's been maintaining herself well, which includes shaving her legs.
Which, hopefully, will be the least of Choi's concerns in about a second.
Brushing her sweatshirt and bikes shorts off to free them from dirt, she pulls up her sleeves, revealing long strings of beads wrapped around them. The look on her face?
Well, some would expect grim determination, or maybe a smug self assurance. Maybe it'd just be one of rage. But no, on her face is a warm smile and brown eyes that look more excited to be fighting than anything else.
"Sure. Let's start by putting your foot in your mouth," she replies with a laugh, as if joking around with an old friend. Something about her makes her seem a lot older than she looks. Maybe it's her hairstyle. Whatever the case may be, Nataya whips her arms out in a wide arc, firing off three small pinpricks of light. The lights appear to be beads, followed by twin trails of silvery smoke which coalesce around the objects as they fly through the air. By the time they reach Choi, they're three swirling silver spheres the size of softballs that will do direct impact and force damage should they strike the malicious, marauding midget.

Choi 0/-------/-------|=------\-------\0 Nataya
Choi was at an immediate disadvantage. See, he didn't prepare for a fight. Why would he? This was a simple theft. Even if he did, he wouldn't be able to to get the gear. His claws? Under a lockbox with fingerprint scanner. Jiro only lets him have it when he expects trouble... and when he wasn't a total wad. While being able to open the box would likely be hilarious, it just wasn't worth the risk. So as Choi swung Nataya over, he cased the nearest escape routes.
When the laughter reached Choi, the little man turned to look at the lady. Yeah, she acted more mature than most 20 year olds. But by Choi standards, she was just a young lady. A young lady that's unleashing a trio of small... beads? Choi didn't want to take any gambles. He leaps off the balcony, letting the orbs strike the window behind him. He falls to the ground, rolling with the impact a good distance away from Nataya... and on the wrong side of the alley.
The little man staggers up, entering a broad, stable stance. While he lacked claws, he knew some unarmed techniques. And he was, at the moment, demonstrating Tae Kwon Do in a somewhat competent manner. "Listen, toots. I didn't want trouble. I just wanted to take those undergarments, and disappear in the night. What kind of freak goes around protecting panties?" He spits, glaring at the woman. "Let me guess. You are the Panty Avenger?" He grins. Panty Avenger. He was brilliant. He looked over at the alley. A trash can. Stereotypical. But somewhat effective. Moving over with some degree of clumsiness, he grasps the comparatively massive can with both arms. Struggling under its weight, he turns to the monk. "Well, take this, Panty Wad!" He cries, hurling the massive metal object at our heroine.

Cliche or not, garbage cans are effective. However, Nataya's not particularly interested in getting hit by one. So instead she hits the incoming can dead on, her fists smashing the receptical without pause, spewing trash everywhere. She doesn't seem too perturbed about the explosion of muck. She wipes her eyes and takes stock of the situation.
Choi's fast. A lot faster than the other people she's fought so far, so pinning him down isn't going to be easy. Nataya's usually skille din runnign down quick targets, but Choi's in an entirely other league. Still, she's not done yet. Despite having missed two attacks, Choi's done only minimal damage to her, relatively.
"Don't worry about who I am," she replies conversationally. "All you need to worry about is avoiding me." Panty Wad or not, she spills several beads on the ground and jumps onto them, using them as a means of transportation. Skating along the ground, Nataya seeks to close the distance to the end of the alleyway, eyes tracking the fast moving Choi as she plans her next attack.
Once she reaches him, the plan is simple: land a solid straight punch to his body, which is oddly enough not what appears to be the largest target on the man. Nevertheless, she tossses the rapid punch hoping to lay him flat for the next attack.

Choi 0/-------/-------|===----\-------\0 Nataya
After borrowing a page from River City Ransom, Choi returns to his stable stance. Choi, while fast, was not strong. Most of the damage he could unleash came from his claws, which he lacked. And without his claws, he is just a martial artist with the speed of a meth addict and the build of an 8-year old girl. So kinda like a shorter Amy Whitehouse.
When Nataya begins dropping beads, Choi immediately adjusts his glasses. He knew several likely things were coming. Beads set him up for tripping. Nataya was probably setting herself up to gain control of the fight. However, he wasn't quite expecting her to ride the beads. As the woman rides along quickly, the midget is forced to think faster.
He ducks.
The punch sails over him. The little man advances forward, keeping low. Positioning himself underneath her arm, he shoots up in a jumping uppercut, trying to hit some sort of tender spot.

Choi 0/-------/---====|=====--\-------\0 Nataya
Nataya's a practitioner of Muay Boran. While that doesn't make her invincible, it does mean her 'tender spots' are relatively tougher than most. The conditioning for the 'sport', if you could call a martial art that was created to punch a soldier dead in as few moves as possible a 'sport', is insanely brutal. As a result? So is Nataya.
As Choi jumps up to meet her, Nataya displays her own debilitating brand of quickness. Her speed isn't about moving as fast as her enemy. Instead, hers is focused in running her target down as rapidly as possible. Choi's fist slams into her body. The hit is quite solid for about two milliseconds.
Then she's gone.
Nataya seems to evaporate in a puff of smoke as all that's left in her place are a series of shining beads that seem to stare at Choi like brigh little eyes. They rapidly form several concentric rings as her silvery cloud of smoke focuses inside of them into a bolt of solid power.
That energy bolt bursts forth, blasting Choi like a miniature cannon as Nataya follows up behind the malevolent mince master. A fist to the back of his head, then a knee to the small of his back. An elbow, a kick, another punch and finally a spinning roundhouse kick sends Choi to the ground.
"I like you," she says offhandedly. "You've got spirit. It's just in the wrong place. Tell you what: let's put everything back where we got them and we can talk later... or I blast you senseless again." Her smile doesn't /suggest/ malice. In fact, she seems perfectly sane.
Then again, so does Kim when you first meet him.
Well. That wasn't expected either.
When Nataya fades away, Choi just expects the worse. Already backing up away from the chi-laced lights, he puts his arms up to block the incoming attack. Which never comes. Instead, the little man is struck from behind. The sneak-attack works, and Choi becomes, for all intents and purposes, Nataya's personal bitch for a few brief seconds. While the Korean would normally enjoy such treatment, the last kick removes the erotic elements for him.
Lying on the ground, the little man growls at her mockery. See, he might have taken the offer. Might have. But Nataya had to keep that tude. Didn't her Master talk about tudes? The Kim smile doesn't help either. The growls intensify as Choi rolls towards Nataya. Bowling head over heels, the little man closes in again. He explodes up again, this time in a backflipping kick. Gloves are off: Choi was meaning business now.
COMBATSYS: Nataya blocks Choi's Hien Zan.

Choi 0/-------/--=====|======-\-------\0 Nataya
Let's take a look, shall we?
While Nataya's demeanor could be considered 'tude', it really isn't. The woman's about as serene as a fresh winter's day. It's kind of like fighting June Cleaver who happens to be weilding a nuclear powered baseball bat. The point? Her voice, her entire posture states that she's being as nice as anyone could ever be about this whole thing. Well, aside from the statement about kicking Choi's teeth in. That /was/ a little bit arrogant.
The second thing? Well...
Just keep an eye on the ball. Or beads, as the case may be. There's only so much Chi can do.
Choi's backflip kick shoots towards Nataya and she hunkers down. Now things are getting real. The attack is met with a short jab, designed to not do damage but keep her opponent off balance. The result is that the attack hits her shoulder instead of a more vital part, thus reducing the damage.
"Oof. I take it we're not on speaking terms anymore?" She laughs a little as she takes a step back and squares her shoulders before presenting her profile to Choi. With a short movement, Nataya bolts forward, skating on those beads again to give Choi another solid smack in the ribcage as she tries to run him down with a good body punch.
COMBATSYS: Nataya successfully hits Choi with Quick Punch.

Choi's strike was intended to put him in a better position to attack. As he arcs in the air, he begins to whip himself around, allowing himself to follow through with his aerial strike. Instead, he is given a quick, off-balancing jab. He grunts in pain, recoiling slightly as he lands. The second punch knocks him further back, though not down. He was beginning to lose this fight. Something that was simply unacceptable.
He dashes to the right, if only by impulse. Nataya's actions felt like mocking simply because it was unnatural. Too calm. Too... self-confident. He figured that mind games were not going to work. Or rather, the traditional ones would not work. Stepping back several feet, he feels his back touching the wall of the complex. He looks over his shoulder, and back at Nataya.
"You self-absorbed little brat. You couldn't mind your business, could you?" The Korean spits, and quickly leaps towards Nataya... then leaps back. Kicking off the rear wall, he sails overhead. Falling towards the Monk, he begins to hammer his legs downward in long, awkward steps. Like if he was running in place.

"Nope!" She says cheerfully, eyes closing as the feet come rushing down like a cascade of tiny terrible triphammer blows. Her head kicks back once, twice, th...
And then she's gone again. Poof.
The swirling mists is all Choi's left with as Nataya's nowhere to be seen. All that's left there are the glowing beads. They seem to look at Choi if only for a second. They don't judge. They don't make any determination at all. Blank, glassy eye-like beads have nothing to say. It's almost calming, the way they dance, move, and gambol in the mists.
That is, until they start glowing again.
This time instead of focusing the mists, they glow white hot and start shooting beams of pure force down on Choi, blasting at him like miniature defense satellites. The bursts are relentless, the torrent unforgiving. And then when that stops? The beads begin to crash into Choi like hailstones before the mists finally clear.
Nataya pulls back the silver clouds and the beads, which hover around her in a defensive pattern. her stance isn't as crisp as it was, and the damage is starting to show on her body. A bruise on her face, a tear in her sleeve, her hair dishelved.
"On the contrary," she says, tilting her head. "I'm more worried about finding the center of everything. Do you think I want to be here in the middle of the night fighting a man who has flaws just like everyone else? You're right: stealing underwear? Who cares? For pity's sake... they're /underwear/. But did you ever think for a second that I stopped here because the disturbance I felt /wasn't/ some ugly pair of granny panties, but because fate wanted to help you get back on track?"
"That's all I am, pal. A hand of fate. The only thing to blame is the fact that you drew me from the deck life dealt ya." She grins. "Sorry!"
Again with the beads of light tricks. As Choi begins pounding her down, she disappears again. Choi turns around, ready for the follow-up attack. Which doesn't come from that angle. Instead, the lights do what Choi thought they were supposed to do the first time. The Korean is raked with the beams of light, staggering him painfully. Hugging himself, he bowls over, beating back the pain.
And then, he listens to Nataya.
The Korean mutters to himself, but doesn't speak out. He was forming together the meaning. "Fate. You think..." He chuckled a bit, inspecting the damage on his arms. They were pretty stable. "Typical youngster. You speak smart, babe. You even act smart. But you aren't the center of everything."
He shuffles, releasing himself from the ball, but still keeping low. "Maybe in 10 years, toots. Probably 15. Fate isn't a card game. Life isn't a dealer. You make your own cards, and Life tells you that your cheating. There are no rules... Only what you get away with." The little man shoots forward, keeping low to the ground again. He spins barely off the ground in a tripping kick, only to switch into into a more diagonal sweep at the last moment.

Choi 1/----===/=======|=======\-------\0 Nataya
Well, sometimes you're wrong, and it looks like Nataya's overstepped her bounds. She falls for the feint and is caught in the leg before she can charge up her attack properly. The result is overall fairly devestating. Her leg is caught and her ankle lets out an unpleasant crunch.
She slams to the ground with a heavy thud, her face going blank for a second or so as
"Not listening..." she says, staving off the pain a little bit longer. "I never said I was the center of anything. I'm just here doing what I've been told to do. It's not a crusade. It's not even a point of 'honor'. It's just what I have to do."
She looks up, her face calm with that small smile, and she points out succinctly, "Hey. Does all that wisdom you have explain why you're more than a little scared that I've got you to work this hard to get me on the ropes?"
Choi actually lands a solid strike. His change-up actually proves his point. And the young lady is still... standing isn't appropriate. How about conscious. The Korean goes with his sweep-feint, bouncing back into a stand. Hunching over, he spits off to the side. "Dumb slut. Here is my last bit of wisdom. Nothing said matters. Only meaning."
And with that, the little man leaps towards the downed woman. He begins to throw everything he has. Punches. Kicks. Forms. Flips. Spins. And gropes. He doesn't even focus on precision. It only becomes a blur, and the end result...

Still unable to move quickly, Nataya appears to be a sitting duck. Also like a duck, Choi's words roll off of her like water. All she does is look at him and almost shrug. "Well, then let's talk about that, then."
The assaults come in, and she closes her eyes, taking a deep breath. The kick lands firmly against a wrist coated by beads. A hand is deflected calmly, pushed aside not with a gently nudge but with a shocking force. The movements are quick, precise, letting very little through. While a few kicks, grops and punches do escape her heavy defense, in the end, she's still there, still looking at him with the same calm expression on her face.
"I may not even beat you," she says as the beads swirl up from her body, already forming into what appear to be glowing, quicksilver spears behind her. "But I just want you to know that no matter what happens, I'm free. You're not. And I'm just trying to help everyone."
She winks, and the swirling spears whip from behind her. Four in all, the glowing weapons seek out Choi like missiles before turning horizontal. They gleam for a split second...
And then smash down on Choi like a series of angry baseball bats, attempting to smash the man into the pavement like a bug.

Choi's berserker-like frenzy is shrugged off. And from his blind fury, a tidal wave emerges. Choi doesn't even hear Nataya. Only when he stops to catch his breath does he realize that something is wrong. All he receives is a flash of light. He spots the missiles... and they strike true.
Choi smashes into the wall, and lands on his feet. Swaying side to side, the fresh scars of the bolt are burned deep in his shoulder, chest, abdomen. He continues to sway, advancing steadily towards Nataya with a drunken, half-conscious drive. He suddenly picks up speed, turning into a charge. He winds back his fist, and drives it forward...

Choi's state is enough for Nataya to take note of the direction of the attack. With a short motion of her elbow, she pushes the attack aside completely and shifts to one side, rolling across the ground before scraping back up to her feet again. That was close, but now Nataya's going to have to make a critical decision to fish or cut bait with this one.
Focusing her eyes on Choi's no easy task now. She's running out of steam as badly as Choi. However, unlike him, she doesn't have the ability to bounce back regardless of the damage she takes.
She takes her stance, using her hands in a triangle shape for aim as her feet shuffle into position. Once again, Nataya charges up three of the prayer beads that are laying on the ground. The small pinpricks of silver rise from the asphalt and flare in size.
With a motion of her hand, the energy bursts are off, pinwheeling towards Choi rapidly, their silver contrails arcing towards him like small comets to blast him back and out of the alleyway as she staggers back, slamming against the brick of the apartment behind her, clearly getting low on energy if not spirit.

Choi continues his drunken staggering, luckily (or skillfully?) evading the series of small prayer beads launching towards him. He slowly regains some degree of awareness of what is going on around him. The Korean is a spry little booger. Things that should knock him down often fail to. The reasoning is usually for some perverted motive, though that doesn't even seem constant. It is like when the little man is given the choice of giving up, he responds...
"Make me." Choi blurts that out in a half-mutter, half shout. He puts up his fists again, trying to hold a stance. "You little cheap-shot brat. That... that..." The Korean stops for a moment, running his hands along his ribs. He feels three bumps short. Damn. Two molars dribble out from his mouth, followed by a stream of blood.
"Make me." He replies again, incoherently. He leans forward violently, like if he chose to fall over. At the last moment before running into the monk, his feet seem to kick over him. The little man enters a front flip, leading his right heel over his head and right towards Rataya's skull. The old man still has his wily tricks, despite a sudden onset of senility.

She's really too tired to move. All Nataya can do it watch as the hoe collides with her head. The woman can take a beating something feirce, but that ankle injury really did her in. The throbbing pain in her foot in addition to all the constant jabs and kicks she sustained is finally enough to cause her eyes to roll into the back of her head.
She slumps down to the ground in a series of thuds, the mists that usually rise around her legs cease their endless movement and sudden;y go still, and the beads she holds up in the air clatter to the ground.
But before she goes under, her power flares up again. Apparently some level of consciousness remains and two of the beads snake up to again appear to look at Choi intently. Without Nataya to guide them, they're a shadow of their normal speed and strength. nevertheless, they wobble towards Choi drunkenly, hoping to take advantage of the midget's half crazed state in a last ditch attempt to protect their weilder before the silver fog simply disappates, at least for the time being.

Choi's mind slowly loses it's cloudiness as Nataya's mists fade away. As the natural painkillers wear off, he shakes reality back into him. The last burst of beads come at the little man. Moving smoothly, he flattens his profile, letting them spread wide around him.
And then, he was alone.
He looked at the strange girl who challenged him. He spit again. "Seriously. What the hell." He mutters, feeling his ribs again. Jiro was going to ask questions. Baaaaad questions. The little man eyes the ground. Good panties. Soiled. All this work for high-quality panties... ruined. Where would he find a fresh set this evening? Jiro would be waking soon. There was no time to find a prime target like he did tonight.
And then, a thought comes to mind.
Ever so smoothly, Choi collected the soiled panties, tiny white teeth sparkling in the moonlight. Jiro did mention he was having that inspection from his superiors. Maybe a little accidental fetish taken to work could be revealed in his locker?
