Neo League 701 - #707: Flora vs Domino

Description: NL: Flora vs. Domino, Battle in the Arcade! Watch as, amazingly, no machines are broken! Thrill as Domino tries to pick up chicks who are too embarassed to actually talk back! (Winner: NOBODY)

More Neo League action, and this time in a.. fairly different sort of venue! It's an arcade! It's packed! It's.. well, not the sort've place Domino would pick to fight someone. He likes gaming, and this could damage the stuff. But hey, this is where they wound up, so he'll make the best of it.

Crowds of people on each floor watch monitors being fed by cameras settled around the third floor - where the fight is actually intended to take place. People are ushered around in a wide girth, permitting plenty of room for whatever action takes place so they don't get in the way. But without actual barriers? That might be a little tricky.

Nevertheless, Domino arrives on schedule, robe tied shut and hood over his head as he makes his way through the audience. Once he gets to the center of the clearing, he turns a quick spin and flings the robe off to the side, revealing the dark-haired model underneath in his fighting garb. A bright smile is given the spectators, holding that pose for a couple seconds. When he finally exits it, he saunters to the side to await his soon-to-be opponent, hands set on his hips.

Flora is pretty easy to find. She's the one standing head and shoulders above everyone else while still wearing a Seijyun uniform; she's also carrying a very large, rather thick bow with her, which may make it especially clear that she's the one here to fight.

She is sort of slouching in an attempt to look a little less big, which isn't working. The environment sort of unnerves her; it's loud, and there's a /lot/ of people here... she's already got stage fright and it hasn't even started yet.

Flora does dip a rather awkward curtsey to Domino once she steps into the cleared area itself, though. Or at last Domino's robe.

Leave it to Domino to not notice the really tall girl at first. When she emerges from the crowd completely, though, he doubletakes at her. Eyes go wide, then they affix to that bow of hers. Oh, this could get messy. He's pretty sure the surrounding equipment is going to get totalled.

Ahwell, that's the arcade's bad for having Neo League here!

Domino offers a quirky grin and steps up closer to the girl. Rather than return the bow, he offers his hand. "Flora, huh? Nice to meet you. I'd prefer a less violent sort'a greeting, but...," he jokes. Clearly Domino's a lighthearted sort, despite the indication of weaponry about to be used.

Flora has the decency to use blunt arrows, at least. That may be just as bad for the screens, but at least she's not likely to start drilling holes in things (Domino, bystanders, OR machinery). Dent maybe. Drill no. And, of course, she still has a perfectly servicable staff.

She reddens slightly when Domino looks at her, but she accepts the hand at least, gripping not very firmly and shaking it. "It's a pleasure," she says quietly, before she takes a step back again, closer to 'her' end of the cleared space. Evidently she's not much for talking... it flusters her more than the actual fighting does.

"Pleasure's all mine, I'm sure," replies Domino, friendly, relaxed smile prevelant on his face.

But then the girl is drifting away, and Domino decidedly does the same to his end of the clearing. And the announcer seems plenty anxious to get things underway: "FIGHT!"

Domino's pleasant expression evaporates completely, leaving a stoic, all-business look instead. He dashes forth, hands pulling back and chambering at his sides as he rapidly closes the distance between them. The moment he enters strike range, he dips into a low frontal stance, hands rocketing out at her abdomen in a double palmheel strike - which explodes into a bright flash of radiant white concussive energy.

A lot of people see Flora's bow and the few arrows she carries in a quiver and assume she's helpless close-up; they immediately run at her and don't let her use the bow by pressing their speed and crowding her.

She doesn't know whether Domino is doing it intentionally but it certainly seems to be close. Flora immediately uses her free hand to hold the hands away from her, letting the burst erupt a little further away than he might like.

Unfortunately for him, making it impossible for her to shoot doesn't really hurt her strategy; she just has to change it a bit. Flora lashes out with her reinforced bow, spinning it quickly between her fingers before ending with a solid strike straight toward Domino's chest. It's thick enough to act like a curved club and not break under the force.

Domino's energy eruption is side-tracked, apparently having minimal effect on the femme. He doesn't seem terribly bothered by it - nor does he really have time to be. The bow's whirling motion has taken his full attention, and the moment it comes out - it strikes nothing. Domino, in fact, grabs the bow and gives it a solid yank and a torque, hopping to topple the girl to the floor and leave her stunned.

Stunned or not, Domino leaps away from her towards a nearby arcade game, perching atop the console. His right fist thrusts into the air, beaming a bright smile out over the audience and for the cameras. And promptly, Domino is airborne, pulling into a double backflip. After the second rotation, his limbs stretch out, pulling his torso taut and firm for impact against the girl in a high-flying moonsault - the Darkside Slam.

Flora does stagger to the side when her bow is twisted, but she fails to fall all the way to the ground - which is good, because it leaves her with a faster recovery, able to straighten back up and regrip her staff properly so that she's ready.

And then she stands while Domino climbs and poses. She doesn't move at all, instead just staring up at him, waiting just like she was taught - until all at once, Flora moves, actually moving so quickly that she appears to blur; Domino manages to almost slam into one end of the staff for a moment before the other side whistles up, cracking against his body with surprising force and sending him moving past Flora without grabbing or slamming her.

She blows hair out of her eyes after that, and goes back to waiting for the moment.

Whack.

Domino is sent to the ground on the other side of the girl, landing with a harsh thud and wince. He tumbles over a little, then picks himself back up and shakes his head. Huh. She wasn't worked over enough for that, apparently. ..Which kind've falls into the 'duh' catagory, but hey. He was feeling cocky.

Still, Domino collects himself and dashes back in towards her. This time, however, he aims to maneuver around behind her back to lock his arms around her stomach from behind. If caught, his back bridges to drive her head and shoulders against the floor behind him in a German suplex.

Flora is used to people coming up behind her after some of her /previous/ events. It sucks. She doesn't want to stick around for it, and as such Flora moves forward, toward one of the arcade machines.

Unfortunately, the ceiling is not high enough for her to stand on top of the machine like Domino did, so Flora just uses the thing as cover from him, darting around it; for someone so big, and so awkward /before/ the fight, she seems to be doing much better now that she has only one thing to focus on. Even the crowd isn't fazing her quite as much.

Flora draws the bow with one of her blunted arrows and shoots it with a very low arc at Domino. It is pretty quick but lacks stopping power and precise aim both; it's meant to slow him down and maybe give him a bruise more than anything else.

The girl escaping Domino's grapple attempt, he gives her a bemused look. Oh, the tall chick's more capable than he was giving her credit! And the next thing he sees is her peeking from around a corner and trying to snipe him.

The arrow curves, looking as though it'll be a direct hit.

Domino tilts his body to the side, letting it hit only the floor.

Then the model is springing into action, darting up onto the arcade game she's covering behind. He then weaves around to the other side, opposite of her, and attempts to flank her. This time he just tries to bear her into the floor with a knee to her back, hands gripping for her right arm to wrench it into the air behind her in a reverse armbar.

Flora is a little slow to recover after shooting, and Domino manages to close the distance before she can do much about it, bearing her to the ground; for all Flora's size she doesn't know how to resist it effectively and use her mass appropriately, and she goes down heavily with a yelp. Her right arm is locked behind her, which unfortunately makes it difficult to use her weapon either as a bow /or/ a staff, as she's right-handed.

So she rolls instead, trying to knock Domino away from her. Flora ends up accidentally rolling towards an arcade machine, though, so he has a choice: get off or get rammed into it!

Domino tries to sustain the hold as long as he can, peering down at the girl. But when she begins rolling, she successfully pulls him along with her, with him making a surprised squeakish sound. He's really, really not used to girls being able to just begin rolling over with him.

However, taking things to the floor might not be the best strategy against a professional wrestler.

As the two tumble towards an arcade machine, Domino changes up his grapple with her. Rather than both arms holding her right arm in a submission hold, he takes the opportunity to wrench her wrist to suddenly twist it behind her back, while he maneuvers more to her front. His other hand grabs ahold of her remaining wrist to wrench it around behind her back as well, until both of his arms are wrapped around her waist. His legs shoot out, feet touching the floor to stop their momentum dead, and the arms around her begin to crush and squeeze the girl, rapidly compressing her albeit taller, but less toned body to his, hoping for a submission.

Flora is big and reasonably fit but not exactly all /that/ toned, and she is no wrestler. Her strength is in her shoulders and arms from drawing that enormously heavy bow and swinging around a staff, not her whole body. She's squeezed and doesn't seem to know how to get out of it; she twists once or twice but only succeeds in keeping herself locked in place.

That is true until she tries to get out via just pulling her arms free and struggling out, barely managing to work her way out of Drake's grip and get back to her feet. He's going to follow her up, Flora knows - so she stays close, reaching downward with her staff to catch him with one of the curved ends and literally yanking him up into the air, so that she can spin it and smash him right back down the way he came.

Whack-smack! Domino really didn't see that coming, knocked into the air, then brought back down to the floor with a thud. Slightly dazed, it takes him a second to recollect himself. But when he does, he kips back up to his feet and shifts back slightly. With a sudden torque, his right foot launches over to strike the girl in the midsection with a sharp, but simple roundhouse kick. No frills or anything special this time.

Flora hops back from the kick - and looks like she's going to stumble when she lands, taking a quick step back to recover. Her focus is good, but not great, and it's starting to crack; seeing all the crowd again and getting too close to the edge of the cleared-out area reminded her where she was and what she's doing. She grips her weapon a little more tightly, suddenly uncomfortable.

In an attempt to regain her state of mind, Flora lashes out suddenly, a strong strike with one end of her staff at Domino's knees. It's a little wild, but she keeps it under control at the end, putting a good deal of force behind it. "Ha!"

Her strike seems to pay off this time, catching Domino as he's recuperating from his own kick. It strikes him at the midsection, knocking him back against a nearby game with a heavy thud. He grits his teeth and dashes back in towards her, legs pumping him rapidly in towards her.

At the last moment, his right arm attempts to hook one of her legs, and his left arm goes to hook over her shoulder to twist over in the opposite direction and yank her off her feet. The motion carries over right until she's slammed against the floor, Domino landing across her abdomen with his own in a modified powerslam.

Flora goes up, all right - and picking up Flora is impressive enough, she's pretty heavy - but she does not go down in the way that he meant to make her. She catches herself on her hands instead, makes a rather startled sound as she realizes she is handstanding in a skirt, and practically throws herself away from him in a roll.

Flora comes up a moment later to her knees, holding her bow again and no less than three arrows between her fingers; she draws back and launches all three at once. They split off in different directions; one goes toward Drake's right shoulder, one his left shoulder, and one his solar plexus. The first two are particularly well-aimed at the pressure points, to slow him down and break through his guard. Unfortunately, it also leaves Flora open as she has to stand up after that.

Domino's attempted powerslam falls short, leaving him knelt and a little confused. She's pretty good, defensively. No doubt about that. He's.. duly impressed with this. The young model hops back up to his feet in time to spy three arrows aimed at him.

Oh, that's no good.

The instant the arrows are released, Domino reels back in the air, turning perpendicular to the ground in a straight spin to just barely let each of the arrows fly right past him.

And Domino lands in a crouch again. "Hot dang."

Domino dashes in towards the girl again, weaving first to the left, then to the right, suddenly thrusting a fist out to drive it against her midsection.

One of the arrows skips off the ground, and the other two hit machines and fall to the ground, leaving dents behind. But no holes! Flora is careful about that sort of thing.

She takes a moment to finish standing up and that's when Domino comes at her. She moves with his first weave and apparently didn't realize it was a feint, because it connects with her stomach hard enough to make her stagger back. She's breathing heavily, starting to wear down from the repeated blows.

She hasn't yet stopped, though, and Flora steps back again, focusing on Drake while holding her weapon up; it's hard to tell whether she's about to use it like a bow or a staff. She breathes in, and then out, trying to focus on him alone again, like she learned how to do when she learned to meditate and refine her spirit.

With her staggering back and looking rather out of sorts, Domino inches a step back to center himself. It looks a bit like she's taking a breather now - which might just be the opportunity he was looking for.

Without wasting another second, Domino surges towards her, body a blur as he zips to her. And once he reaches her, his hands make a solid grasp for her shoulders, fingers attempting to dig in and force her to double over...

Once she's doubled over, Domino locks her neck between his legs. His arms then hook around her midsection to hoist her into the air upside-down in piledriver position. Once she's suspended and the blood is rushing to her head.. his arms begin CRUSHING in along her abdomen in an inverted bearhug. Much like the Blackout hold, only intended to be far more punishing and unrelenting. Every time she exhales, his streamlined arms crush in tighter and tighter, steadily working until he's clamped as tight as he can possibly manage...

Flora desperately braced herself for the attack when it came, not up to speed in evading it, and when Drake grabs at her shoulders, she's very tense. She is forced downward, but not that far.

Far enough for him to grapple her neck with his legs, though. She goes up and once again panicks, this time as much because she's having trouble breathing as because she is upside down in a skirt. She struggles, and strains as her face turns red -

- and then she actually manages to squeeze out from his grip, dropping all the way to the ground in a messy pile. Flora takes a couple deep breaths after that one to regain some air before she lays into him, actually leaping into the air and jumping /over/ him, bringing the staff down with both hands to strike into his back and launch her even further as she does it.

Domino tries to keep her held, but.. but.. -dang-. She's slippery! Color Domino very impressed with her. He prepares himself when she begins her next attack. The moment she goes to leap over him, his hands snap up, catching the staff as it comes down. He turns over and swings the staff - and presumably her - to the floor, hopefully sprawling her.

And Domino immediately follows, hoping to quickly end the fight. He's had enough fun with it, and he'd really like to get to talk to the girl, having seen what she's capable of. So he drops down onto her lower back, hands locking under her chin to suddenly yank it upwards. A quickly slapped-on camel clutch, designed to strain her spine and abdomen.

Flora's spine is already strained enough. It does not need help.

Once again Domino finds himself grabbing not Flora but her staff. The quick pause was enough for her to cach her breath, mostly; she's still exerting herself but she can actually breathe again, which is a nice change.

She blurs as she darts low, striking out with her staff as she passes him, straightening up to her full height afterwards and keeping her staff ready in front of her. Flora has that very focused look on her face again; she's definitely back in the zone.

Fully expecting the girl to be down by now, Domino is not at all prepared to deal with counter-measures. She was supposed to be finished off, dangit!

But he's slammed to the floor again, this time with a soft yelp. He begins to peel himself up off the floor again, teeth now grit. Okay, he -had- this match. What's going on with him? Is he -that- far behind in his training?

Domino pulls himself up to his feet again, making a sudden grapple attempt for her. He attempts to hook one arm around her torso, the other sweeping below her legs to hoist her off her feet, and promptly slam her back down across his upturned knee in a firm backbreaker. Following the hit, one hand sets to her leg and the other under her chin to both push down towards the floor, straining that spine and abdomen again.

This time Flora actually /does/ appear to vanish, or at least darts back so fast that she is hard to place precisely for a moment; Drake gets his hands near her just as she starts to move, and then all of a sudden she's about ten feet away, having apparently covered the entire distance in a heartbeat.

And then she comes back exactly the same way, staff upraised to strike solidly at Drake's gut and send him flying. No way can she do that particular trick twice; she's breathing hard again, almost out of breath entirely, but she did it once and once may be all that's needed. Honestly, she's thrilled with herself - every one of her prior matches has ended in defeat, and rather easy defeats at that.

Domino is slammed, utterly confused and surprised by her movements, launched back from the girl and hitting the floor hard. He sprawls for a second with a groan, then pulls himself back up. This... is crazy. He's better than this. He knows he is! He just has to push himself harder!

So despite feeling extremely weakened and worn down, Domino rushes forth again. This time he weaves low and to the side, attempting to grab ahold of her right leg. If caught, he twists around to topple her to the floor again, on her front. Still standing, he pulls the leg back towards her head in a half-boston crab, curling her backwards.

Flora thinks, for a moment, she has it won. Just for an instant. Domino getting back up ends /that/ thought pretty quickly, but he looks as beaten as she does; no matter who eventually gets declared the victor, it will be ridiculously close.

It almost ends right there as she goes down again, having her leg bent back and upward painfully, but her other leg is still free and Flora is actually reasonably flexible, more so than it looks like she is; she kicks upwards and back at Drake's face, trying to use her foot to shove him away from her so she can get up again. It's a last-ditch effort and it shows.

But he has -got- to get out of this funk he's been in for two weeks! And this is gonne be it! He's determined! It's -got- to be!

So Domino tries to take absolutely no more chances, and he attempts to capture both of her legs and immediately plop onto her midback, hooking the ankle under his arms for a full boston crab. Though he's more interested in just slapping it on and wrenching out a tapout than cinching it on solidly.

It would be dangerous to do what Flora is about to do if her bow was any less sturdy than it was. Fortunately, she can just about get away with this...

She tucks it up against her chest as tight as she can, cradling it against her body, and rolls. Domino's grip fails, although he almost gets one of her shoes; she ends up a few feet away lying on her back, staring up at the very brightly lit ceiling for a while. (She's almost directly under a light.)

Flora gets back up, pulling an arrow despite the small distance and taking a potshot at Domino, hopefully before he gets /too/ far towards her. It's just a fast shot with her blunted arrows, nothing particularly unusual or special about it.

Domino fails to grip her legs, and.. he's even more frustrated.

"God! Okay, I -so- wanna have a chat with you after this!," Domino fusses. But.. that's a little weird to say when someone's angry, isn't it? Not like he could blame her for doing her best. Truth be told, it's the opposite. He's extremely impressed with her, and he's authentically interested.

But out comes the arrow. Domino's pupils shrink, eyes going wide.. and he ducks low to let it whizz overhead. Once it's safely by, Domino springs at her, right fist cocked back and primed to sock her cheek.

That's the last thing she gets to do before Domino manages to get a strike in on her cheek; Flora staggers back and lands on her rear, dazed by both the punch and his declaration that he wants to talk to her. That's new for her. Most people don't.

Domino shifts back a step after the punch and affixes his gaze on the projectiles. That split apart. "Ah, COME ON."

And try as he might, Domino just can't get out of the way of the peppering shots. He's grazed, nicked, and finally brought down to a knee. And.. he simply can't fight anymore.

The announcer takes all of this into consideration before declaring: "DRAW!" Pause. "I hate those."

Domino, however, doesn't care. A draw is a Hell of a lot better than a loss, and he's been having more than his fair share of those lately. So he waves to the audience with a small grin, former stern, stoic look gone in favor of a more personable appearance. He then peers at the girl and begins to crawl over to her. "You. Amazon-girl. Lemme take you out somewhere." And she, likewise, is given a boyish grin. "I wanna talk to you."

COMBATSYS: Drake can no longer fight.

Flora is not unconcious either, just a little dazed. Too dazed and dizzy to keep fighting, though; she blinks a few times to clear her head, and decides to stay down for a few moments.

She looks up at Domino, though, not quite focusing. Her face reddens. Amazon-girl? Flora looks to the side for a few moments as she fights down the embarassment, then says: "Well - I - I suppose I could, sometime..."

"Sometime? Heck with that. Lemme take you out to dinner or something!," Domino chirps. "Oh, and hey. You're bound to have a fan or two now. Can you stand? Shouldn't keep'em wondering about you. Gotta give a good show!" But dang is he bubbly suddenly. Even though the shift from his concentrated, focused, humorless dark side to his lighthearted, mirthful light side is very apparent in the ring, this is a bit more than usual.

Domino crawls around to her side and attempts to slide an arm around her shoulders, trying to get one of her arms around his as well to help her to her feet for the half-cheering, half-booing audience. Draws are nver as fulfilling as a win or lose, but Domino -is- going to acknowledge her for doing really well. Especially for someone he's never even heard of before. So if she goes along with him and gets on her feet, he goes to lift one of her hands in a shared sort of victory.

Flora's flush gets worse. She certainly does embarass easily. She accepts the arm up, though she tries to duck out of it once she's actually on her feet. "Thanks," she says, veryq uietly, so the crowd can't hear her.

More loudly, she says, "Well, um - I guess we could, sometime - " Flora doesn't seem to know what to say, which is probably why she's not saying much at all. "Right now, though, I need to...to go. Back. To Seijyun." Yes. Where it is safe and there is absolutely not a Tran or a Choi hiding in wait to harass schoolgirls.

Domino lets her duck away without fuss, but when she declines again, he turns to look at her with very clear disappointment. "Aw, c'mon. As long as you promise me you're not brushing me off, okay. I think you might be interested in what I'd like to talk to you about. I've got a feeling about you."

The disappointed look turns into a bright smile, and the model straightens his back. "Either way, you did really well. Not just anyone can make me work that hard to bring'em down. So I'm impressed - if that means anything to you. I'd love to run into you again, sooner than later."

Flora technically accepted. Just not right /now/, because she's bruised and still a little dizzy. And she wants a shower. Fighting is hard work.

She still sort of seems indecisive, but: "Well, all right. And - thank you. I haven't been doing very well with it lately, so... Well, it was a good fight." That she can be sure of, and smiles, although it's a little short-lived. "So - I'll find you soon, all right?"

She probably even will!

"I really look forward to it," says a pleased, placated Domino. "I live on the beach in Southtown. House isn't hard to find, and pretty much everyone who goes there a lot should know me." He then turns aside from her and waves a hand to the audience, beaming again. He's apparently willing to let the poor girl go with that much assurance.

Flora immediately tries to slouch off without being obvious.

This is difficult, given she's still head and shoulders over almost everybody here, and certainly over every girl, but she tries, and really, that's the important part.
