Today's Neo League fight takes us to Ha Long Bay in Vietnam. Or rather a boat on the bay where a crew is making their final preparations before the fight begins. The ship isn't very far from land and in fact the tropical plant life makes an excellent back drop for their bout.
Aranha is pacing back and forth on the deck as he waits for the fight to get underway. The traceur/capoeirista is defintely getting restless. And so is the audience who paid for their seats in order to watch this fight.
His opponent was Kai Gabriel and she seemed perfectly calm. Having arrived early, this entire time had been spent in meditation. No one had bothered her until now, but as the crowd gets more and more impatient, so does the organizers.
"Hey, are you gonna fight miss?" one of the staff asks her.
"Yes." she replies.
"I mean, miss .. are you ready?"
No emotion, "Yes."
"Ah miss, well it's going to start soon."
"Very well," she states, opens her eyes, sharp and green, rises to her feet, in her silk, yes for fighting?! and steps into the designated area. She scans it before noticing her opponent. She might of met Aranha or not, you wouldn't know from her expression. Clear, calm, indifferent.
She grasps her pendant than bows and remains silent with open handed palm strike type of style. Her eyes narrow.

Aranha does recognize the fighter he's currently facing. And while he lost that fight, Gabriel didn't quite make an emotional impact on him and so there's a bit of indifference on his part as well. A physical impact? Well he did lose and he wants to avoid that this go around.
So as Gabriel makes his way into the designated area he remains quiet al though there's a bit of a relaxed smile on his face, more for his own benefit than anyone else's. With a crack of his neck the capoeirista steps forward as he pulls his sunglasses from his pocket and slips them on pumping his music through them.
The league official gives the signal to start and then Aranha begins to dance forward before testing the waters with a outside crescent kick from the back leg.

Gabriel is rather consistent in many cases. She lowers her arm to let the kick hit her forearm rather than hitting her straight up. She digs back a little and then decides to let the blow go off before trying to make the close range to her advantage. She pushes forward, looking in that machine like manner, well less machine like then just a little too serious for anyone's own good.
"Tsch." Gabriel grunts while reaching to try and get Aranha by the arm and fling him over in a simple throw maneuver. There would be little heat in this match up.

Aranha is unable to keep his arm from being grabbed however the capoeirista adjusts his stance to keep himself from being flung and instead he keeps himself fairly close which as a capoeirista he wouldn't like, however he intends to take advantage of it by slipping his leg right behind both of Gabriel's and then pressing his elbow against her abdomen as he pushes his pelvis upwards throwing Gabriel backwards and on to the deck.
Whether or not Aranha is successful, the capoeirista plans on hopping away so he can go back into kick range.

He is partially successful. In that Gabriel gets flung a bit but she manages to regain herself pretty quickly and is not even really knocked to hard. She moves with the attack and obtains her footing pretty quickly, allowing her to watch Aranha. Yes, he did get back into kicking distance again, but she in turn remained also somewhat back from the distance of kicking and thus was able to give herself a moment to work on following Aranha's movements and his motions.

With Gabriel hanging back, Aranha doesn't really have much to react to except for the crusader's intense gaze seeking to track the capoeirista's movements. As a result, Aranha dances and spins backwards with a glowing hand lashing out to send a blue spider web of energy. Sure, he doesn't know whether or not it will stick but Aranha's relying on it to help him control the range between them.

As a result, Gabriel dances and spins backwards with a glowing hand, lashing out to send a purple spider web of energy. She isn't as good of a dancer, but she does a decent job with this move. It is a cheap copy really, but it would take a decently good eye to tell the difference between this not so good copy and the real thing, that Aranha, whose probably focused a great deal of time on learning to do these things.
Gabriel retains the same silence that Aranha does and returns to her ready stance, her eyes faintly narrowed.

Not bad for a cheap copy. The mimicked version of Aranha's move seems to go faster than he's ever seen his move go. And as a result he can't get away from the move as much as he'd like. The web sends him stumbling backwards and eventually manages to get his footing before raising an eyebrow.
"Hmmm... Not sticky this time," the capoeirista muses to himself as he begins to dance again weaving into to kick range once again before pushing forward with a front kick right to the abdomen as he attempts to break through the crusader's defenses.

Gabriel meanwhile is ready. She intercepts the foot, with her body, doing a backflip and with the incoming attack grabs Aranha with her legs around his head and then wheels him around into the ground with a grunt and then pulls herself up slowly before dusting herself off. The nasty throw move taking as much out of her as her opponent. Well, maybe not as much, but clearly requiring a great deal of effort as she doesn't get to her feet quite as quickly as she could of a moment ago.
There might be some cheers, but there wasn't a lot going on this fight so far, it was still quite tame.
Aranha couldn't do anything as Gabriel stops his attack and then is caught between her legs before being thrown to the ground quite hard. While Gabriel takes her time to get up, Aranha takes a bit more time. After all, he came out of it a bit more hurt than she was.
He doesn't go back on the attack right away either. Instead, he adjusts his sunglasses and changes the song on them as he watches Gabriel. It would appear that history is repeating itself once again.

Gabriel doesn't have a choice it seems. She decides to go in for the next attack. She wastes no time, her attack is a sudden dash with a charge around her palm as she gives a snap with a burst of energy while going for Aranha's face. It's really more like a poke jab type of attack, rather than a nail you head on with all the pain sort of attack. She's keeping light on her feet, but possibly over extending herself a bit here.

Aranha can't realistically see himself moving out of the way of such a fast attack and so he spins backwards as he catches the impact of the palm strike on his forearm, a smile playing on his face as he suddenly darts away and shoots towards a railing on the boat and hops up on it before launching himself feet first right towards Gabriel's arm and then rolls away upon touching the ground but he comes back to his feet fairly close to the Kempo practitioner.

And the abuse is dolled out as Gabriel doesn't even try to avoid it. She takes it head on and then moves on to her own attack, wasting no time, Gabriel aims a low kick at Aranha's shin. He seems to like dancing so much, why not give him a little wobble for future attacks, afterall.. dancers wouldn't do as well if they were less mobile.
Still the strain from that last hit starts to show as she seems to grow just a little more tired.

Aranha watches as Gabriel swings her leg down at his shin and his smile which was somewhat playful at first takes on a more sly appearance. When her leg gets there she might be surprised to see Aranha crouched down to the ground with a chi web between her and his shin. It gives off a bright, nearly blinding flash from the feedback of her attack interact with the web and then the capoeirista hops up into air before coming down with a hard elbow down upon her head.
She was caught completely off guard and taken by the flash of chi and the web and the elbow. Suffice to say, Gabriel clearly has no idea what just hit her, but picking herself off the ground isn't as hard as it looks. She's hurt, but not beaten, not by a longshot, that much is instantly clear.
"Tsch."
Simply stated before she moves back in for the attack, making a double palm thrust at Aranha's chest. This time the intent seems to be straight up injury.

When those powerful palm strikes come in Aranha holds his ground not moving out of the way but choosing to jam a front kick right between her palm strikes relying on the fact that his legs are longer than her arms to insure that he comes out on top in the exchange. Even still there's a price to pay for not evading. Aranha is driven backwards and finds himself skidding away and nearly falling on his backside before righting himself.
So that was how he wanted to play it. Another attack straight on through her own and Gabriel is starting to think there might be a pattern going on here. Well, she wasn't going to just sit by and let that happen. She needed to change the momentum back in her favor, but even so she didn't look very worried. Instead she shakes off the attack and puts back into the offensive and if first you dont succeed... Use a bigger hadouken. Or at least that is what Sakura would do. Gabriel instead uses a heavier attack, aiming a roundhouse at her opponent.

A pattern? Perhaps but apparently the Capoeirista sees fit to deviate from it the moment that foot swings around trying to take his head off. Aranha rocks away from the kick leaning away from it just barely away from the kick.
Just as Gabriel is recovering from her own particular attack, Aranha pushes himself back forward again whipping around his own roundhouse kick but it's glowing with blue chi. The Dancing Spider doesn't quite stop there as he follows it up with a chi-enhanced spinning jump kick and then finishing it with a glowing backflip kick driving the foot downwards upon her head.

Gabriel takes this moment to back up with every kick, raising her arms and deflecting each kick off her arm beforedigging her back foot into the ground and launching off without warning into another attack. This time Gabriel tries to land on Aranha's shoulders, shoving a palm full of chi toward his face of she can manage to get there and then kick off into a flip off of her.

When Gabriel leaps up into the air, he doesn't do much to stop her. He's not really in a position to. He barely has enough time to turn around before she lands. Aranha is able to do something about the palm blast to the face. Aranha crosses his arms infront of himself the chi blast crashing into his forearm before she kick flips off of him sending him stumbling backwards.
Aranha doesn't give the Justice graduate much time to recover before he's closing again bringing himself into a handstand before snapping off a barrage of kicks down on her head.

"Tsch.." Gabriel mutters and then reaches for Aranha, right through his attack which she takes head on, every one landing as she tries to grab his arm and twist it behind his back. If she's successful she'll hold him in a painful twist and while holding him she'd probably charge up a really nasty chi blast into the small of his back, with a biiig blast.
Also she givse a cry of "DELIVERANCE!"

When Aranha delivered that flurry he did not have that response in mind. Luckily, the capoeirista/traceur is resourceful and when she reaches down to grab his arms, Aranha pumps his arms pushing him up and over Gabriel's hands before landing in that handstand again.
Tilting out of the handstand Aranha rights himself back up to his feet and then he whirls around before sending a sidekick to Gabriel's gut, utilizing placement rather than brute strength to do his work for him.

wo can play at that game, Gabriel moves the heck out of the way as soon as she can and though her breathing is faster and her expression is one of sweaty difficulty and deep breathing. Gabriel darts in to try and get Aranha into another grab and toss, this time leaving an ankle out for him to hopefully stumble over. This fight sure was starting to drain a lot out of her. Who could go on like this for longer though..

Aranha, hoping to capitalize on Gabriel's fatigue attempted to whip an elbow around at Gabriel while she tried to shoot in. Unfortunately, Aranha's own fatigue had something to say about it. Gabriel gets a good grip on him and tosses him off of his feet and drops him on his back. The impact of the ground driving the wind out of him.
As he gets up, he finds himself just as sweaty and tired and just as desparate to swallow sweet air as Gabriel is now.
Gabriel isn't going to give up either, she presses the attack forward, draws back her palm and aims a palm thrust at Aranha's face. It's not one of those powerful attacks. It's a poke, an attack and quick pull back. This time she gives a call, a shout,
"Confess!" It was her grunt, her way of saying she was going to go for a nasty finish.. or maybe a slow weakening of her opponent.

As the palm strike comes in, Aranha weaves almost lethargically out of the way attack. His body goes almost rubbery as he slips out of the way. Bacause the recoil is fast, Aranha doesn't have time to return the attack before she recovers but hopefully, he won't have to since he plans on threading his counter kick right under her arm and driving it into her rib cage without quite rising from his evasion attempt.

Gabriel brings her arms up, taking the attack off them with a glance and a wince but then a deep frown. As she breathes deeply it is clear tha she is growing very tired of this fight. She reaches into her silk jacket which is kind of dusty from all the banging around, draws fourth a long shard of glass, like a sword, only it cuts her own hand as much as it would cut someone else, raises the shard of glass over her head and makes a slashing motion with it toward Aranha.

As Gabriel makes the slashing motion with the glass shard, Aranha cartwheels out of its way and makes b-line right for the Avenger's flank attempting to drive his foot right into her side and finally knock the fight right out of her.
After all, while Aranha may be at his best in wars of attrition. There's only so much even he can take before he has to stop.

Well Gabriel gets out of the way, looks at her sword, seems to consider swinging it again but instead she uses her off hand to throw another palm thrust, she's looking tired, really tired, but also frustrated, something has got to give, she seems to be thinking and hopefully.. That somehting is Aranha.

While Aranha, like Gabriel, is tired he tries not to show the frustration he truly feels at the moment. He wobbles and weaves as he raises an arm to catch the palm strike that Gabriel delivered before rocking back once again and then whipping a foot upwards like he was kicking off a sandal attempting to delivrt a kick to her chin. "Hah!"

Once again it is a moment of guarding for Gabriel, having pushed herself so far.. and now she goes for what she seems to hope might bring about an end to this epic struggle with Aranha. With a grunt of effort she pushes forward and aims another chi crackling thrust of her palm with a flash of purple. Short, quite, but she tries also to press it thruogh Aranha, aiming somewhere behind him. Sweat meanwhile pours down her forehead.

But it's not to be. Aranha, digging from deep within, pulls off another dodge which he should be, by all means, too tired to make. Aranha bends over backwards to pull himself into a back bridge and just barely out of the way of the palm flashing with purple energy.
The Dancing Spider gives a grunt of exhertion before throwing his hips up and over the rest of his body swinging a kick upwards to her chin before he goes back into a standing position gasping for air.

Meanwhile Gabriel brings her arms up and manages to deflect the blow, looking a bit pained from it and very tired. She's quite to respond, lunging and throwing a palm strike at Aranha's jaw with a snap, another poke attack, while she wheezes with effort and exortion.

Aranha, little by little is beginning to gain his breath back due to slowing the pace of the fight down. Even still he can feel his lungs burning as they exchange attacks one after another.
As Gabriel sends out a palm strike to his jaw, Aranha drops under it as his palms hit the ground, combining evasion with attack as he with one single move, avoids the attack and delivers his own in the form of a spinning heel kick to her jaw.

Gabriel gets hit. After all of those fast attacks. She is knocked back. If that is how it is going to go.. It's clear she is getting annoyed, but before she loses herself she uses her hand to straighten out her attire, adjusts her stance.. and .. does nothing. Ultimately, for what it was worth.. she ends up only a little worse for wear.

It's rare that a fight lasts this long for the Dancing Spider. It was one of the few times Aranha landed an attack on Gabriel where she didn't take damage on her terms and so it brings a smile to the face of his inner self. The outer self hadn't lost his smile yet.
What shocks Aranha though is the fact that there's no return attack. Of course, that also means that's one less moment that he doesn't have to defend himself with miraculous evasions. Aranha decides to press the attack whipping a couple kicks to Gabriel's torso hoping that he can get a few more attacks in.

Gabriel meanwhile accepts the abuse and sits back, taking a bit more time to rest herself up, the kick bringing her practically down to a knee, but she rises up, watching Aranha. This time instead of attacking she seems to be taking time to carefully ready herself for the next assault, her eyes narrowing.

This is the second time Gabriel, has let him attack with impunity and Aranha doesn't quite like it. The narrow focus put directly on him by the other fighter makes him cautious. That's why he doesn't go in with a direct assault. Instead, Aranha feints a roundhouse, before taking to the air to stomp hard upon Gabriel's head.

Gabriel watches the move come, she makes a copy of the motion as best she can, but it's mostly her power that Aranha , "This.. has got.. to be .. it.." huffs and puffs Gabriel, her face a waterfall of sweat before she practically falls back on her backside, looking so tired. She only just manages to keep on her feet.
Aranha in turn gets stomped on his head with the chi of her creation, and finds himself staring at the sky. Slowly he brings himself to his feet. Wobbling and barely able to keep himself upright. He moves in closer and closer before he delivers a powerful side kick to her head. If he's going down, he wants to take the avenger down with him.

And then Aranha falls to the ground and once again gasps for air. He is unable to fight.
This kick comes in hard and relateively fast, but Gabriel doesn't flinch, she takes it off her shoulder and backs up. She's so tired that at this point.. she has to rest. She hardly makes it out of the circle before she collapses herself in exhaustion. That was.. a long fight.
