If you're going to have a fight in a cafeteria, what time are you going to do it other than lunch? That's what must have been going through the minds of the Neo League officials when they booked this one. Taiyo High's cafeteria is absolutely packed to the brim with students, and all the being cheerful and upbeat the students are doing has sure worked up an appetite! And as such, they're eager to get their food. There a problem with that, though; the majority of the room is sealed off by a ring of students and cameras, standing around two fighters who are soon to face off. But now how will they sit at the tables their social status allows them? How will everyone know who is nerd, jock, or socialite just by what part of the room they're sitting on? Clearly the answer doesn't matter, since they all get to watch this kick ass fight!
Getting pulled out of class for a fight isn't something Kiyoko's used to. Nope, she's only fought on weekends before, so the call she got on her cellphone saying 'Come to Taiyo now.' From the League was rather surprising. Luckily her grades are high enough that Justice allowed her to go without Raizo lecturing her for hours on the importance of her education- with his claw-hands in her gut. That's what she thinks, anyway. Unfortunately that means she also didn't have time to change into her Tai-Chi uniform and is now wearing the school colors of Justice. That puts her distinctly as the underdog, according to the students here, who are giving some lighthearted heckling.
She's alright with that though. In fact she seems positively pumped up, going through a long and convoluted series of Tai-Chi movements as a warm up, stopping only now as one of the organizers says the cameras are set up and they can start every time. "Alright, lets do this!"
"Take it off!"
She sweatdrops, "I hope someone gets suspended for that."
Aranha actually had been considering Taiyo as far as what schools to attend but he couldn't get a tour from Taiyo or Gedo which is somewhat ironic considering that Pacific was a more exclusive school. It's part of the reason he's muttering to himself. "Sure... They can book me for fights on the rooftop, in the dome arena, and now the cafeteria yet I can't get a tour of school? That's rediculous."
As he waits for the fight to begin he has already ditched his jacket on one of the tables and is wearing his black t-shirt, his arms covered in scars as he visually takes in measurements. Not as some one checking her out romantically but as someone sizing her up. After that's out of the way he flashes her an easy going smile and steps up into the cleared out fighting area.
No sooner than the Dancing Spider steps up a female voice calls out from the crowd. "Take it off!" Looks like Kyosuke is going to have to have a talk with a few people.
Aranha's response is different though. He takes off the t-shirt and tosses it over to his jacket. Females need fanservice too, you know. Needless to say, his muscular build would look nice if it wasn't as completely covered in a multitude of scars in varying ranges of ugliness.
Aranha snickers.
Kiyoko takes a few steps forward and smiles back to him. She definitely notices the sizing up, and is smart enough not to take it for leering at her. She /does/ have training in fighting, and learning to examine your opponent is something she's accustomed to. In fact, it's something that she rather prides herself in, at that.
She almost laughs when one of the girls yells to Aranha- that's only fair, isn't it, but then blinks when he actually complies. She looks over to the direction of the guy that heckled her, "Y-You'd better not think I'm going to be doing the same!" Some laughter breaks out, only a part of it being with her. She rubs the back of her head a little and then shakes it, telling herself, "Just ignore them, I've gotta pay attention."
She pumps herself back up mentally and then hops up onto one of the tables, which are still there. "Alright! I'm ready. Lets give this thing everything we've got, alright? I'm Fukakami Kiyoko, by the way." And now she turns her eyes to Aranha, looking him over as much as he was her, and probably quite a bit harder, as well. As she does so she begins to lean backwards, one leg held far in front of her as she sinks into a low fighting stance. She blinks once at the scars, then narrows her eyes. Well, it's unlikely that she'll be able to TKO him from pain, judging from those.

Aranha for his part is eating this up, the whole back and forth between the fighters and the spectators the energy given from ther laughter. It's been too long since he's had an official fight where he could just relax with it and have fun.
Pulling a pair of shades that were hooked on his side pocket out he glances at the other fighter. "I go by Aranha." With a relaxed motion he slides the shades on popping the earbuds into his ear and turns it on.
With the last of his preparations out of the way, he weaves and sways as he dances in closer to his opponent before swinging his instep up high to catch Kiyoko in the side of her head. There's not much power behind it. It's only to feel her out given that he can tell how carefully she's paying attention to him.

And after delivering the kick he says softly with an easy going smile, "Let's make this a dance to remember."
Kiyoko would probably be enjoying it more if she were used to it, but so far she's only got a few official fights under her belt, and she's definitely not used to being the focus of so much attention. If anything this is an even more of a difficult position for her than fighting in a stadium full of screaming spectators. That's such sensory overload that it almost doesn't register to her, whereas here... here she's surrounded by high school students, all of which are somewhere near her age. But don't worry, she'll get used to it eventually.
"Nice to meet you, Aranha." She states as he puts on his sunglasses, and apparently putting on some music? She's never encountered anything like that before. It makes her feel somewhat... distant.
But there's not time for her to speculate on why he's doing that, as his fighting style suddenly becomes apparent, dancing his way over to her rather than running, walking, or jumping at her. His weaving seems to have done it's job, as the kick is so fluid that she doesn't recognize it as an attack until it's too close. She puts on a fast burst of speed to try and duck down and get below it but is too late, getting clocked in the side of the head. "Ouch!"
She stumbles half a step sideways, and then quickly recovers her balance. "Yea," she replies to Aranha, "Definitely!" Then quieter and to herself, "Geeze, I hope I don't miss another one of those." She isn't going to let it be a -free- hit on her, though, as she's suddenly moving her weight forward so that she can roll forward into a handstand, reaching out with her legs to try and wrap them around Aranha's neck, hooking her feet together at the ankles to form a solid hold. If she gets her hold she throws all of her weight backwards, tearing the fighter off of his feet and slamming him down onto his back, rolling to her feet in the same motion and hopping away.
No matter the result, she suddenly realizes the reasoning for the large cheer that went up in the male portion of the crowd. She isn't wearing her Tai-Chi uniform, she's wearing a skirt, and she was just hanging upside down.
Her face turns red.

The Dancing Spider ends up getting a little fanservice of his own. As a result, he didn't have enough time to prevent the feet wrapping around his neck. Luckily he has enough poise that when he's taken off his feet that he could swing his body over so instead of landing on he lands on his hands in a handstand of his own.
Unlike Kiyoko, he stays in the handstand and actually walks on his hands as he approaches her his lips curling into a bigger smile as he begins to beat down on her from above with a rapid flurry of kicks from the handstand position.

Focus on your training, Kiyoko! She simply can't let herself get distracted by the embarrassment, her reddened face keeping its new color while showing some amount of resolve. Just shrug it off and deal with the real problem! And that she does, pointedly ignoring the smile on Aranha's face as he moves into a handstand and kicks at her. This time she's ready, though, and she bends down and rolls over her shoulder, handily tucking her knees in to avoid further embarrassment.
Once her feet return to the floor she quickly whirls around, right fist balled up into a small fist. The rotation helps add a bit of extra power, and a hook punch is sent to the small of Aranha's back; hopefully enough to destabilize his balance and make him think a little as well. "Yah!"

Glancing Blow

Aranha had something differentin mind when he delivered the attack however his plan didn't pan out quite how he wanted. He manages to adapt to Kiyoko's rolling by tilting out of the handstand but he's just barely too slow in changing his tactics and so he still gets hit but instead of getting hit in the small of his back he gets clipped in the shoulder.
When he lands he continues his constant movement performing a back flip to set himself up for his attack. "Almost got me!" He leaps forward swinging out one foot in an attempt to strike with the outside of his foot before swinging a roundhouse kick from the other foot before the first foot hits the ground.

The Justice student is quick to recover after her punch, dropping again into a low, backward leaning stance. She smiles when he makes his comment, and replies, "I'll getcha next time, don't worry!" More of a reply isn't possible since she has to deal with the incoming leaping kick. She does manage it, though, pulling her arms up and catching his shins with her forearms and keeping him from making bodily contact with his first kick. The roundhouse takes a bit more doing though, forcing her to quickly pull both of her arms up in a solid defense, the sound of the kick hitting her guard sounding throughout the cafeteria.
She's driven half a step back by the blow, but she doesn't seem to mind it too much, taking another one and planting her feet before jumping away and landing atop another of the tables lightly. Immediately she's on a counteroffensive, her left hand swinging through the air in a fast horizontal motion, hand bathed in green energy. The energy hangs in the air as she makes the motion, and shoots forward once it's done, the girl announcing, "Spring Blossom!" as the projectile rockets towards the Capoeira artist.

Aranha had over extended himself on the attack and by rights he deserved to get caught by that green energy. But he developes a sense of urgency and he begins to burst away from her before stepping up on a cafeteria seat, then kicking off the table bringing him up and over the green energy and right next to the Justice High student.
It's when he's next to her that he says in a playful tone, "What was that again?" He doesn't intend to give her much time to respons though since he's slipping a leg behind both of hers as he presses his elbow against her abdomen. If all goes well, he'll buckle her legs before he pops his hip upwards dropping her on her back.

Kiyoko looks duly disappointed when Aranha manages to nimbly get out of the way of the energy attack. The faculty looks duly disappointed when the energy attack ends up wrecking one of their tables. The girl frowns to herself as he appears next to him, and then grins, "Maybe you got away, but you had to exert yourself too much to get away. I've got you, now!" Yep, she's definitely observant. The burst of energy that it took to get away is going to slow his motions down, something she knows about first hand.
So when he starts trying to get his leg behind hers she takes a step to the side, twists, and starts letting loose a barrage of circular knifehands against him. Too bad she's falling to the ground by the time they're extended enough to hit him! He's too fast for her this time and she falls sideways, this event made only worse by the fact that she falls off of the table, landing face down in a rather disheveled manner. She blinks twice, and then pops back to her feet. "You got lucky!" Keep telling yourself that, Kiyoko.
Aranha spins away from the capoeira styled take-down before he speaks. "No more than you exerted yourself to get away from my kick combo." And he knows that it was that which was the difference between hitting him and merely clipping him. Not that he was going to mention that after all, she probably figured that out already.
When she calls him lucky he just shrugs. It was part luck, part calculated risk. He knew that a slower attack would've put him in a vulnerable position and he needed to see how she handled other methods of attacks.
He didn't want to have her get a moment's rest after the take-down. He begins to dance again swaying occasionally changing the pattern of movement before spinning around and shooting a side-kick right for Kiyoko's stomach.

"Maybe not, but you didn't capitalize on it at all. Besides, I'm being way more careful than you. You'll get yours eventually, trust me!" The fact that a part of fighting is indeed luck will probably see to that. Right now Kiyoko's feeling a bit defensive, this being one of her poorer showings so far.
And here he comes again, moving around in his rhythmic dancing motions towards her. Luckily his spinning sidekick is rather nastily telegraphed, and the girl manages to hop to the side and avoid it with relative ease. "Don't think just because I'm not doing very well means you can just pick me apart!"
She needs to do something that'll show him who he's dealing with. Something that'll knock him down a peg or two. Something that'll embarrass him as much as she's been embarrassed this fight. Something like throwing food at him.
Wait, what?
The fact that this is a cafeteria all but assured that this would happen, and right now the violet haired girl is going to make it happen. There's no food in the ring, but there's plenty in the hands of those forming it. It's as simple a matter as hopping over to one of the male students, giving a grin, and ripping the food platter out of his hand. She then balances it on one hand and shoves it forward like a shot-put, sending a cascade of nutrition right towards the American.

Aranha doesn't respond right away instead. He watches and waits as she moves towards a table to grab a tray of food. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what's going to happen next and he knows that he wants no part of it.
The Dancing Spider rocks back as the food flies at him and does a fast spin before whipping his arm to send a spider web of blue chi at it. The energy web slices through the food before continuing on it's path towards Kiyoko. As for the food, it drops to the floor in a trail right from the point where the web hit the tray to right in front of his feet.
With the food dealt with, he has time to say his peace. "In my defense I wasn't in position to do what I wanted to do with it. And food? Don't you know there are kids starving?" With a shake of his head he punctuates the last comment before he asks one more question. "Are we going to spend the rest of our fight critiquing each other's fighting styles or are we going to try have fun with it?"

"Aww, you're no fun at all!" The least he could have done was hop away from it, but blasting all the food to bits with... energy webbing? How rude! She hunkers down as the chi heads her way, and turns sideways to it, letting it hit her in the shoulder. She's pretty strong against the stuff, so it makes a minimal impact on her, though all these little blows are definitely going to add up fast.
"Yea, I know! You look like you could put on a few extra pounds- why'd ya have to go and waste it all?" She gives him a small grin, "What, you mean you're not having fun. Don't blame me, then, I'm having a blast!" All this verbal sparring is just another facet to the fight, after all. She's used to things going either way in a fight, so doing well isn't what makes it fun for her, thank god.
She's left in a pretty bad position here, and though she definitely needs to get back on the offensive and try and put Aranha on the ropes if she wants to win, she's more the type to keep herself going and out of harms way. That makes her next action predictable, which is simply to stay back and get her wits back about her. Attacking now would get a foot planted firmly in her gut, or so she surmises. "Comon, let's see what you've got!"

Hold up! Did she just say he could stand to gain a few more pounds? Aranha's mouth drops open in disbelief. Considering that he stands at 5'5" and weighs a buck sixty six, he weighs more than most people at his height. So needless to say, he's absolutely surprised. Though if he thought about the fact that most of his weight was in his legs he'd probably wouldn't have been as surprised as he was.
But he doesn't dignify that comment with response instead continuing to press her. The fact that she stopped to catch a breath means an attack isn't forthcoming but he needs to punish her for it. It won't be anything major yet. Just a quick back heel to the head to keep her honest. "Aren't you supposed to be showing me what you've got?"

It looks like her prodding has finally gotten her somewhere! "Yeah, you heard me!" Kiyoko gives him a grin, and stays back where she is. Sometimes comments don't have to make sense or even be true to get a reaction from your opponent. While not a complete setup, Aranha ends up walking into a trap, the girl stepping forward into his kick and sending a fast palm-heel into his hamstring as the leg rushes into her head. She definitely caught a blow for it, but maybe a sore and gimpy leg will slow the kickfighter down a bit.
"Yep, definitely looks like you could learn to use your arms a bit more. Being able to kick like that is great, but versatility is key!" Preaches the one on the short end of the fight. If nothing else she'll hopefully make an impression on him, and the rest of the crowd.
Even if it was trap, Aranha wasn't too bad off. If anything, he knew that the trade wasn't all that beneficial to her. And as a capoeirista, getting his leg attacked served as little more than annoyance. Capoeiristas do not like getting attacked in the leg though when weighed against the fact that Kiyoko isn't a capoeirista, she knows not what she does.
Instead he hangs back and rubs that leg she struck. After that he rises as he reaches up with his left hand to change the song on his Oakley Thumps. Aranha's deciding to keep quiet for the time being.

Kiyoko knows exactly what she was doing! He's so completely reliant on his legs that smacking him like that is going to seriously mess up his groove. Well, maybe if she'd hit him harder it would have. As it is the quiet concentration brings a worried frown onto her face. She's behind, and now he's getting ready to open a can of whoop-ass on her. She simply can't afford to rush in now. She'd love to hurl another blast of energy at him, but that'd tire her right back out when she's spent so long trying to catch her breath again. What can she do, throw more food at him? Nah, that was a one-time thing. She might be able to throw a chair at him, but that'd be ridiculously easy for him to hop out of the way of. The answer? Turtle right back at him!
Okay, it's not a winning strategy, but she's not the most experienced fighter around, and doesn't realize that she's doing little more than digging herself a hole. She's probably doing little more than delaying the inevitable since she's spending so much time hanging back and not attacking, but it's not something she realizes. She'll probably have a lot to think on if she ever sees footage of this fight. For now she just wrinkles her forehead and glowers at Aranha.

Aranha just stands there shaking his head as she glowers at him and smiles before he moves in. After all somebody has to end the stand off sooner than later. He then begins move forward as he dances in, the ginga constantly keeping him moving and shifting around before he gets in close.
When he's close he begins hopping from side to side before continuing to dance and throw kicks towards Kiyoko's legs...

But those kicks don't hit that hard... They're little more than a distraction to draw her attention low away from the real danger up high. His foot finally setting is the only warning she gets before he whips his body around swinging an elbow completely covered in blue chi until the powerful blow connects with her jaw.
What was that about using his arms?
More kicks! Kiyoko can totally handle this. She simply lifts one leg to block the kick with the optimal part of her leg- uh oh. Well if those kicks /were/ the main part of the attack she'd have been doing great, but she fell for the attack quite handily. She doesn't even see the elbow coming when he throws it, so focused was she on his legs. It completely blindsides her, her neck twisting around sideways to a painful angle, and sends her crashing to the floor.
Though she doesn't actually do it, she feels like writhing around on the ground in pain. She /really/ screwed that one up, and it hurts. A lot. "Oooow!" She's not above being a little vocal about it though! Slowly, she picks herself back up to her feet, "I'm going to be feeling that one for days. Jeeze!" She shakes her head angrily, at herself, and then states. "I think it's time I got a little payback! You're going down, for that one."
With no more ceremony, she spins around and swipes her arm through the air at an angle, forming a green crescent that hangs in the air. A quick swipe with her other arm forms a squished X of energy in the air, and then with one final motion she sends a third crescent right down the middle. These all form together to make a single powerful blast of energy which shoots off towards Aranha just like the first one she used. "Take this; Vernal Equinox!"

Aranha knows he can't get out of the way... He put too much of himself into the elbow shot to dodge. So he hunkers down as he watches the crescents form together building up until it becomes a giant mass of energy. His eyes widen and then breathes as he brings his arms together to block the energy, sliding backwards as the energy pushes him backwards.
When the energy subsides his forearms smoke a bit from the mass of energy but he still seems okay. And he smiles a bit. "As long as we're dispensing advice, you might not want to call your attacks out. Just seems like it gives too much warning."
With that said Aranha moves in again. No dancing this time. No he's running at full tilt each foot step is taken with no wasted movement as he runs past Kiyoko? That doesn't sound efficient until consider that it puts him at an unusual angle to deliver a kick. He then bounces from Kiyoko to a chair, to Kiyoko, off a table back to Kiyoko, bouncing to another table where he leaps to grab a light fixture kicking off the ceiling to deliver one last kick before he launches himself off of her and drops into a roll low and near the ground.

Kiyoko huffs as Aranha dispenses with her powerful attack with such ease. Okay, so she's not the only one here who can play the defensive card. "Okay, that wasn't bad. I wasn't expecting that at all." Still... he's putting an awful lot of effort into avoiding attacks of hers that have chi in them, so she's starting to think it must be a real weakness of his. She'll have to exploit it!
"I guess that might be a problem, but I usually do it /after/ I attack, so it doesn't really matter. Besides, kiai's help you focus." Except that wasn't a kiai, was it? Seems like all she's capable of doing to Aranha is sass; though it seems that she's fairly competent at it, at least. The full speed run in immediately gets Kiyoko's attention, and she grits her teeth. He's going for the knock out blow here, so she has to be extra careful. She takes a quick breath, and steels herself. As he attacks she quickly brings up her forearms, which suddenly become sheathed in her green chi, lifting them up and shoving them forcefully in the way of the attacks, stepping back as they're delivered. Her awareness seems almost superhuman, turning to face the almost randomly directed kicks as they come and staving every last one of them off.
But that's not all. Once the blocks are done the chi seems to crawl up from her arms to her hands, and she reverses her movements, now going immediately on the offensive. She does her best to stay with him as he rolls away, and then starts attacking. Her hands move quickly, slashing at him with fast circular motions, looking much like she did during her warm-ups earlier. Only she's not aiming to hit him with her hands at all, but strike him instead with the energy surrounding them. Lets see if he's weak against the stuff after all!

Aranha thought that with the roll away he'd have enough distance that he could be able to move away but he doesn't quite get the distance that he needs and so he catches the green chi to the torso and it's painful. As a matter of fact it hurts a lot but it wasn't the motivation behind putting the effort into avoiding the chi attacks. But now that he's been hit by something significant it would provide encouragement to expend more effort into getting away next time if there is one.
Aranha finds himself flying backwards before he gets back to his feet again but he's not stationary for long. He cartwheels at Kiyoko pushing a foot at her abdomen.

"All right, I finally got you. And I'm just getting started, too!" It seems like this was exactly what Kiyoko needed, and she's finally starting to get some real momentum going behind her, as well as a nice amount of confidence to go with it. The purple haired girl readies herself when Aranha begins to counterattack, and meets the foot with open hands, diverting it away easily with such ease that it actually gives her a moment to catch her breath.
Now that she knows his weakness, she's going to exploit it. With a sudden surge of energy and vitality, she lifts right hand up and swings it down quickly. More of her green chi forms in the air in the form of a crescent, and shoots towards him at high velocity. She's got to keep it up if she wants to win. And if she looks like a broken record for using the same couple of energy attacks, so be it- they're the only one's she's got!

In Aranha's case he's finally getting winded while Kiyoko's getting momentum and he doesn't seem to be able to finish her off. As he's diverted, he goes into a back flip in an attempt to get his feet set in response to whatever Kiyoko had in mind.
This ends up being a mistake as he gets caught with green crescent of energy hits him in the chest sending him stumbling backwards. Realization sets in that he's going to need to so something decisive and quick or else he's going to lose the advantage that he built so he does something insane. He runs up to Kiyoko and kicks upward using the momentum to flip himself up into the air and carrying the momentum to attempt to kick her in the chin.

She doesn't say anything, but the smile on Kiyoko's face is proof enough that she's glad she hit him. She's starting to turn this into a real fight, after all. Aranha looks like he isn't going to mess around at all, though, coming straight in towards her and attacking with what looks to be an impromptu flash kick. It could prove ruinous if it hits... but she doesn't want to lose any more offensive capabilities. So instead of doing something dramatic, she simply leans backwards. It's enough; the kick sails by inches from her face.
But a close miss is still a clean miss, and Aranha's left hanging in the air. Time to go at him some more! She steps forward and gets in close- really close, energy once again igniting on her hands. She sends an almost frantic series of slashing attacks towards him with the energy, feeling for the first time like she might really have a chance to win. She needs to press her advantage, and she's going to give it her all!

The hit and run tactics weren't doing him any good, he needed to end the fight and not now but right now. And instead of running from, it he runs into it, heedless of his own safety jumps right into Kiyoko using her as a stepping stone, kicking off of her as the energy hits him. It's a miracle that he's still able to maintain his course as he propels himself from her to a neighboring wall before bouncing off the wall to deliver another kick to the head before landing.
He gasps for air while he looks at her. He knows that she knows that he's out of breath. There's no use hiding it at this point.
Crap! That's exactly what Aranha should have done there, and his presence of mind ends up getting Kiyoko's ass kicked. She's worn the heck out from the constant energy flinging, and is in no shape to try and abort her attack as Aranha steps forward and jumps on her. Not only that but he springs off a wall and sends another kick into her! And that one, sadly, is enough to put her to the floor. She falls down and hits hard, wincing. "Ouch..." It was a good, solid hit, and one of those was all it was going to take in the condition she's in. Still... she's not going down without a fight.
"Alright, you got me... but there's still something I haven't tried yet!" She struggles to get to her feet, and /lurches/ towards Aranha, so tired and weakened that she's moving like a tranquilized turtle. If she even manages to get close, she swings her arms at him in more of those circular motions, but instead of knifehanding him or smacking him with chi, she starts trying to jab her fingers into pressure points, aiming specifically for the ones on his neck, which -should- cramp him up enough to send him to the ground if she manages this right.

The Dancing Spider watches carefully as Kiyoko lurches forward slowly moving towards him. But that doesn't mean he's going to worry about that attack any less... He's seen too many Mestres catch people with attacks that have the appearance of slowness to not be wary. He's seen too many fights in the streets where someone has been caught napping on something slow and paying for it. And has even been on the receiving end of situations like that.
Those humbling experiences cause him to deal with the attack cautiously focusing his mind in case things go wrong but attempting to weave anyway. In this case, the mental preparation wasn't needed as the pressure points hit nothing but air. On the final attempt he steps back and takes a breath before looking at Kiyoko and shaking his head at her.
The misses cause Kiyoko to collapse. She hits the ground knees first, and then pitches forward onto her hands, breathing heavily. She'd completely used up her stamina. She /could/ have attacked some more if she wasn't so hurt, but they'd have come out half-hearted at best. For now she doesn't seem capable of doing anything much more than panting, desperately trying to catch her breath because being so worn out /hurts/. And that's not even considering she'd just gotten the snot beaten out of her!
