Description: Dr. Tran battles his fiercest fan yet! Wait, what?
Thank goodness for the modern fighter's ability to recover quickly. After his daring Wilderness adventure, Dr. Tran was in bad shape. Then he went home, showered twice with two seperate towels, slapped some neosporin on his head, and slept for almost an entire day. Then he woke up, went to Dennys', and ate a grand slam with extra flapjacks.
Now, just a day or two later, he is in Southtown again and ready to rock, looking as good as he ever did! The coat is pristine, untouched by dirt and grime. You can practically smell the newness on it. Even his head, still bald and scarred, is concealed by a simple wool cap. Dr. Tran is ready.
Ready for what? Why, for Himeko, of course, for their promised battle, so long delayed, now finally here at last! With here specifically being, y'know, a street corner that the doctor pretty much chose at random. It'll be great, really.
As care-free as the superheroine acts, Himeko Kashiwagi nor Hurricane Hime are a girl without troubles of their own. She'd been having a bit of a tough week, and try as she may to try and think about other things, she just can't!
But getting to fight with Tran was most certainly JUST what the doctor ordered; figurativly as well as literally! In fact, maybe he just may be able to help her out! The chosen spot was most certainly a suprise to her though, she had thought and thought and though of the significance of the locale. And the brainiac she is, she simply just couldn't figure it out. That is until..
".. mmmMMMORTALS!!" Comes a cry from afar, but nothing can be seen save for a passing tow truck. But the moment it fully passes, the pink clad heroine LEAPS from the back of it, and you can see it all in slow motion. She twists, she twirls in the air, and executes only the most perfect flying back kick that the world may have very well seen. If you freeze frame it, you can see the light shining down on her, angels and rose petals raining from the sky and the seas crashing violently against the rocky ledge.
But back into reality, once she lands onto the ground and strikes a sentai-ish pose, "Ho!" she stands up straight and a gust of wind whips her scarf back wildly. "Doctor Tran, so we meet again, once again, this time in the field of an area.. An area... OF GREAT IMPORTANCE IN YOUR PAST!" Dramatic pointing!
Having been standing with surprising patience as he waited for Hime, Dr. Tran greets the young heroine with a mixture of relief (he can only stand there for so long before even a man as awesome as him gets bored), awe (did she just...yeah, she did. Nice landing, good form), and shock. Seriously, his past? It's just a street corner.
That does not keep Hime's infectious enthusiam from making the doctor respond in kind. "HURRICANE HIME!" He belts it out surprisingly loud for a man of his stature, causing even more random passerbys to pause and stare. "I see your reputation is well-deserved, not just from your fighting prowess, but also your keen investigative skills! But..." He raises a finger warningly and pauses so as to let the wind make his coat billow dramatically.
He lowers his finger, pointing straight and Hime, and then calmly, in a normal inside-voice, states, "...I just chose this spot because I like the coffee shop across the street." Silence hangs heavy afterwards. The passerbys what heard him grumble and move on, it's such a letdown. Tran clears his throat. "So...are you ready, Hime?"
It's a very powerful moment, in a way. If there were cameras, the very moment could be used for some thrilling mystery show! But Hime's hard work and investigation most certainly will.. Not.. Be..
The little fighter stares with complete and utter shock to Tran's answer, her just just kind of slack and her upper half slouches forward. Coffee? Th- That was it??
And yet, she stands up straighter, coughing lightly into her fist. "Y- Yes! Well, I.. I was just about to say.. Um.. ... Well anyway yes! I've improved drastically since the last time we've fought, Tran! However I warn you that you'd better watch out this time."
Completely oblivious to the let-down passer-bys, she continues with little else but strong energy! "You have one technique that I want to make my own! And in my hands it will truely be a devestating technique; so if you're smart, you won't use it! Ha ha!" With that said, the heroine drops back into a very ansatsuken-style stance, determination in her eyes. It would seem that she wants a part of Tran that she can keep with her deep inside.. Forever. Though it's really creepy if one thinks about it that way.

Tran's immediate answer to Hime is a loud bark of laughter, both at her valiant attempts to recover after his suprisingly mundane revelation, but also at her bold intent to steal his technique! "HA! You think you can handle even one of my attacks, Hurricane Hime?! You think you can hope to measure up to the raw, destructive force of the original? You must have improved a great deal to think so much of yourself! VERY WELL!"
Dr. Tran spreads his arms out to either side, his stance an open invitation to come at him. His lips split, revealing a wide grin, and he finishes, "You're on." That said, he's no longer standing where he was. The simple reason for this is that he's dashing in low toward Hime, hand extended for her throat. If he finds it, he'll pull it downward slightly, tensing, only to heave her directly upward, spinning about afterward to deliver a solid kick to her midsection, hopefully sending the pink-clad girl flying backwards.

Well it's nice that Tran takes it so well! Though she can't help but still feel a little sheepish since she can tell he saw through her charade. But that aside, it's all positive in the end. Tran may not make a very good rival for her, but she has a feeling that he wouldn't make a good teacher for her either. Why she thinks this, yet feels so highly about Dan is a complete and utter mystery.
Therefore to learn, she's going to have to take him head on! "Let's do it!" she cries back, and with the Doctor hot on her trail, the heroine reaches for her scarf as she leans slightly to the side and ends up getting captured anyway. "Urk!" the girl cringes slightly, helpess to the point that the kick meets its mark and she doubles over it before flying back and crashing onto the sidewalk. It was a good blow, is she out?
Hime sits up, and rubs at her throat, ".. Nope, that's not it." she says to herself as she gets up, and beelines back at the doctor. The plan? Slipping her hand into her thigh holster to withdraw a small handful of paper slips. The slips are thrown forward, linking togeather like a chain to try and wrap about Tran's ankle. Should she be successful, she snaps the link like a whip, and once the shockwave reaches it's target, he's snapped into the air and slammed violently back onto the floor! "Take this!"

It's good that Hime can tell Tran's calling her bluff, because he sure can't. Further evidence that he's not a very good rival/teacher/what-have-you? Perhaps. Although that does call into question his exact relationship with the energetic girl, especially given his usual hatred of fighting teenage girls. We'll just leave it as something nebulous, and move on to the action.
And the action is, in fact, /packed/. Straightening after his blow to Hime, Dr. Tran cocks his head and asks aloud, "Well! I'll just keep trying until you find the one you like! Hup!" This last is shouted when Himeko's paper chain comes flying forward. His blood fueled by the theatric atmosphere, Tran actually performs a full backflip to escape its grasp. Landing solidly on both feet, the doctor raises his hands. "You'll have to try harder than that! Come on, then!" It's at this point the air ripples around the doctor, signifying the subtle flow of chi through the air. It swims about, in and out, but mostly in. What awesome end will the doctor put all this chi to!? Only time will tell!

Oooh, chi. That means steam! Hime had always been fascinated by the mans very unusual chi; and she can't make heads or tails of how it's so effective in battle! But it's that same boggling thing that gives her hope that her own abilities may have potential to be more devestating as well. Only one attack she has in mind would solidify that theory, she thinks.
She hopes she isn't wrong a second time!
"Tsk, don't get cocky because you got lucky!" she shouts back, but then cups her cheeks as she hops on her tippie-toes, "W- Well, it was pretty cool, so I can let it slide this time. But it's my turn!" Hmn.. But how would she do this? Having a sudden idea, Hime sprints forward and leaps into the sky, reaching behind her to withdraw a somewhat oversized paper fan, which she holds overhead, "Behold my 'Everlasting Sunshine Justice Blow of Utter Destruction!!!'" she declares, comes down and WHAPS Tran over the head as hard as she can possibly ever strike with it! It makes a very impressivly loud *FWAP* upon contact.

How is Tran's steam so effective in battle? An excellent question. One might say it's hot, one might say it's hard, one might say any number of things that sound kind of dirty in retrospect, but thankfully nobody is. The only real answer can be this one, simple reason. Dr. Richard Tran is just that awesome.
Proof of this awesomeness is given when Hime comes crashing down with her fearsome attack! This simple will not do for Dr. Tran. His head is tender right now! No concussions will be allowed today, and so Tran further raises one arm over his head to take the impact. It still jars him a little, but not too terribly badly. Really, it looks far more impressive than it actually is, and Dr. Tran can respect that. "What power! But it's not enough, Hime!"
Taking a step forward to get nice and close to Hime, Tran hunker down, rears back, gets ready, and then DRIVES forward with amazing force!! "Take this! HIDDEN DEATH STRIKE!" Then he whirls about, so his coat flies up in Hime's face, killing all of his momentum, and follows up by completing his spin and punching her in the face.

Hmmmnn.. Somehow, Hurricane still seems slightly disappointed. She could have sworn the blow would sound a lot louder. Maybe it was Tran's defenses that disrupted it. Clever, clever indeed. The fan is twirled and stops juuuust short of being re-sheated into her belt-pack, and eases back just a little. Her brows draw downward slightly. "Hidden .. Death?" she asks, a bead of sweat falling down the side of her head.
Unlike some girls, Hime isn't afraid to take a blow to the face, especially if within that strike there is a moment of prime opportunity. Suddenly the tip of her fan bursts with an aura of white light, she crouches, and then rockets upward the moment the jacket lowers low enough to reveal the fist behind it and hits her arm. But the impact isn't enough to stop her from bursting straight up like a corkscrew, the white ray slamming under Tran's chin to carry him upward with a collective *fwap fwap fwap fwap*! "nnnnNNNNNNEEEEEEEVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER!!!" she cries, flipping in the air at the highest point of her strike and dropping to the ground.
W...whoa! Hime just flipped the hell out! The strike carries Dr. Tran upward, before sending him flying backward, where he lands roughly on his butt. He's kept there for a moment, not by the pain, but by how awesome that actually was! It didn't hurt that bad, sure, but that's not the point! He is humbled by the /style/.
Pushing himself back up to his feet, Dr. Tran smirks. "Impressive...I can see I'm going to have to take this more seriously." He begins advancing on Hime, slowly, menacingly. "So let's see you deal...with this!" Suddenly going fast again, Dr. Tran leaps upward, leg extended high into the air, hanging almost still for one glorious moment. Then he comes crashing downward, trying to kick Hime flat onto the ground, and which point he'll backflip off of her and flatten her with his comparatively heavy weight!

Hime -did- flip out. But she's not completely done flipping out.. Not just yet! This time, however, the fan really -is- re-sheathed, a rather confident look in her dusky-skinned features. She takes pride in style, of course, but it leaves one to ask, how cool is TOO cool? Will this bout reveal that?? And yet, inside the little Hurricane is squealing with glee from Tran's compliment. He's noticed she really has improved! That means it won't be long before he has to use the attack she's waiting for.
Hime just BEAMS. She's got a bright lil' smile even as Tran takes the skies, that screams for her to burst forth again. But she notices something unusual in the few seconds before the feet actually connect, and that's a light glow from her textbook. In those three seconds, the textbook is withdrawn and the rounded bookmark inside is grasped, and ripped right out of the book horizontally along with a gout of paper that takes form of a buster-sword blade. The foot crashes down against the 'blade', scooting her back slightly; and the second impact doesn't even burst through the weapon! Hime's knees buckle, but she pushes him off, and the bookmark is pushed back into place.
"Ha-HA!" Hime pipes in a Saishu-esque manner, sprinting forward to return the flying kick! Her left foot snaps outward first, "Take this!" then her hips twist to snap a right kick, "And this!" and it's finallized with a full twist into an arial back-kick. She sure loves those back kicks. "And finally this!"

Wh...what?! Impossible! That hugeass paper sword just came out of nowhere, man! It's like double impressive, because not only is it huge, but Hime completely stopped Dr. Tran's awesome attack with it! As he bounces off of it at the end of his attack,he lands in a three-point position. He looks up and stands, noting Hime seems to be fantastically happy, but before he can comment on it she's upon him, kicking like a fiend. As a manly man, there is only one thing Dr. Tran can do: take it. The first kick slams home, driving him back a step, then the second does likewise, but then the third...
Dr. Tran just stands there and lets it smash into the side of his head, tilting only slightly from the impact. "I will!" Then Tran crouches down and rockets back upward, trying to drive his fist into Hime's chin with a fearsome uppercut. Even as he does it, he's planning - Hime's totally making him look bad, and while uppercuts are cool, this one lacks that special something. Soon, it'll be time to take things...to the NEXT LEVEL.

Hurricane Hime thinks on it for a moment.. And then shakes her head. Nope, that wasn't what she was looking for either, but she had to admit it was very cool looking. It seems taking the skies is an imperative part of making a longer string of excellence! It's kept in mind for now, but back to the fight at hand! Closer looking at her book would reveal it's clever title: 'Excalibook'. She thought of it herself.
It's probably better seen when Tran's fist drills toward and eventually impacts the handy shield, which redirects the attack slightly to the left so she can slip to the right safely. And then it clicks in. He will. Somehow the heroine doesn't burst out laughing, but instead notices something else. Tran is kicking things up.
Well then she will too! The book is re-sheathed, and the little Hurricane tries to get into Trans personal space and hug him from behind. Awwww. Wait.. No, that's a suplex coming his way, there's a definate, "NNnngggh!!" of her trying to hoist him back, up and over to slam him hard onto the ground! But she doesn't let go, she's really struggling to get him up a second time, lift and suplex him again! The suplex: An imperative grapple for any -real- schoolgirl.

Dr. Tran doesn't have time for reading in the middle of a fight! There's no way he would notice...hehe, Excalibook. That's pretty funny, because it's like the swo-HANG ON JUST A MINUTE WHAT DID I JUST SAY. It's probably a good thing Hime didn't laugh, as Tran is suddenly /extremely/ mildly irritated, although it passes quickly once she actually comes in to try to suplex him. He simply pushes forward, bringing a hand down to help break himself out of her grip. He immeidately leaps away, spinning to face her even as he puts a small distance between them.
"Alright, Hime. For your sake, I hope you're ready." He raises a hand before him, like he's somehow managing to hold an invisible basketball, and then he starts to steam. It comes slowly at first, wisps rising off his body, but it quickly intensifies, until he's engulfed in a haze. He exhales slowly, doing his best to keep it in control. "Now things get interesting."

Oopsie! It seems that Hime missed her chance after all; or maybe Tran is simply too experienced with your everyday suplex for it to suprise him anymore! Looks like it's back to regular throwing techniques for her. But there's something different here. Tran is showing the heroine something that she, quite frankly, has never seen before. There are very very few instances where the girl has an 'oh crap' moment, and this is one of them. She doesn't look -afraid-, but she does look completely caught off-guard, "W- Wait a minute.. H- Hey I don't remember you doing anything like that before! That's cheating!" she quickly blurts out pointing with an accusing finger! On the other hand, maybe she'll learn something else from this! "T- This is impossible, I know! You must have developed a new technique on that island! Th- That's INCREDIBLE!!"
The girl, clearly blown away, can handle this new information by one way, and one way only: bursting forward, and flipping and over Tran as she reaches for her holster again. If Tran doesn't act fast, there's a 'rope' of paper around his throat, that she jerks back on sharply as she digs her knees into his back for balance.

To put it simply..."HRGK!" That is the exact sound of Dr. Tran being choked by a schoolgirl. Body stiff and curved like a bow from the pressure Hime exerts, he struggles to continue standing. At last, after what FEELS like an eternity, he breaks away from the rope, spinning about to throw Hime off and sever the rope.
He rubs at the spot where the rope was, then tilts his head to either side, stretching his neck. Tran's grin somehow looks more sinister now, with the steam half-concealing it. "It's all too possible, Hime! Weren't you wondering why I wasn't using any chi? This is why!" Taking a dashing step forward, Tran shoots his hand out, a simple quick shot for Hime's face. The kicker comes when the steam rising off of it reverses direction, coalescing around the doctor's fist in a dense cloud, just in time for impact. "Can you withstand it!?"

And so Hime made Tran choke. But it wasn't a choke that would seal the heroines victory, not by a longshot; there is a much more intense air in the.. Uh, air now, this wasn't any regular Tran she was dealing with now. This was like.. Super Tran or.. Uber Tran! Or.. Or.. "No waaaaay!" she cries again, both utterly excited and completely shocked. Somehow this Tran was even cooler! Er, well.. Hotter. Exhuding a different kind of awesome! As Tran's fist comes shooting forward and manages to slam right into the side of her face, the girl actually hits the ground upon impact, tucks in her knees and rolls back so she's on her feet again, holding her cheek. "O- ow!! I think I get it now. So I'm riding the Pain Tran now, am I?" See what she did there? "All right, I'll surpass my power too!" Somehow. She starts by taking her scarf, and raising it so it's tied around her mouth for a more ninja feel!
Hime doesn't seem slowed down, no longer holding her cheek as she seeks to take hold of Trans arm, twist and set it on her shoulder, and than slam him hard onto the ground. But it's followed up by an attempted stomp down on his chest afterward. Aggressive!

Truly, Tran has exceeded himself in a new, bold way. How exciting! As his fist snaps back from Hime's face, he exhales heavily, clenching and unclenching his fist as the steam around it disperses into the air around it. "Appreciate the effort I'm putting into this, Hime! Learn what you will, I can't hold back!" Of course, even as he says it, she's attacking him again, managing to wrench him down to the ground. His hand reaches up to stop Hime's foot before it crashes into him, though, leaving him looking up at her on his back. "If you have any requests, make them now, while you still can!" Then he explodes. Which is to say, specifically, that he erupts into steam, a geyser of chi rocketing upward all around him, and Hime, too, unless she does something completely and ridiculously sweet!

From Pain Tran to Crazy Tran, the doctor is proving to be overwhelming.. Very very fast! It's difficult for the girl to keep up, but it doesn't mean she won't keep trying; there's an off-switch somewhere and she'll find it! "Then I have no choice..." Hime replies as Tran prepares upon the heroine a move of doom, "I'll have to MAKE you hold back!!"
Something awesome.. Something awesome.. Hime's at a complete loss; she falls back onto her book for a little help, but how exactly can she defend against a geyser?? She can't, and with a girlish shout Hime is pulled into, feeling that sweet, steamy pain! Oh boy and OUCH! "AAAAAAAAAUUURGH!!"
It's quite a spectacle, as she flies back and smashes into a conveniently stacked pile of trash cans that collapse with a loud *CLATTER*. It's very noisy! But then suddenly Hime is bursting out of them, sweating something fierce and looking hella ninja as she curls into a ball and blasts horizontally at Tran! Should she barrel into him, she gets a little air and sonic smashes downward! Maybe she'll make a rabbit pop out of him. "ERAAARGH!"

A little room to breath, ah. Once Himeko goes flying back from the geyser, Tran is obscured from sight momentarily by his own attack. It clears quickly, and once it does, Tran is standing again, eyes sharp, looking for the young heroine. Oh, there she is, charging right at him. "Just try it, if you think you can manage it!"
Naturally, Tran does the only thing a real man can do in this sort of situation. He charges right at Hime, rearing up right as they're about to clash. He more or less collapses in half when she bangs into him, but he uses that, tries to make a grab around her midsection from behind. He can't quite mange it though, what with the wind being knocked out of him, and then she's further beating the crap out of him, sending him sprawling backwards.
Slowly he rises. "Pretty good...but at this rate, not good enough. More, Hime! More!" A single hand beckons her forward.
"Eyaaaaaaaaaagh!" Hime cries, though do ninja's really go yelling like bonkers like that? It's.. Hard to say, but she is pretty easily goaded into unleashing even more crazy techniques. She doesn't seem to have a clue that he was trying some sort of counter-attack, the downside to spinning like crazy, but that aside, she's definatly on the prowl again, but this time there's a slight stagger in her step. Ah, so it'd seem she was hurting after all!
But now she's drawing her paper fan again, the blazing tip leaving a trail of white behind it as she swings the weapon upward like a golf club, and Tran is the ball! Should the energy manage to hit and knock him into the air, she twirls the fan like a fishing pole and thrusts forward, the fan extending to catch him by the leg and she proceeds to giant swing him a few times, "Huuuuuuuuuuaaah!" the paper then would break to send him flying into the street pole. Medical fact: ninjas are silent - they are so deadly because they can come from anywhere, anytime. Hime is, therefore, quite clearly not a ninja. Dr. Tran is just the sort of man to exploit this weakness for all it is worth.
As Hime approaches, fan blazing with light, Dr. Tran drops to his knees, slamming his palms into the sidewalk. Once again, steam blasts upward all around him, concealing him from view. This time, however. This time is different. The chi stops, then contracts, solidifying until it resembles a translucent white wall. When Hime's fan hits it, the wall may as well be made of brick for how little room it gives, bouncing the energy she was using right back at her. The wall waves, flickers, and then explodes into steam once more, leaving Dr. Tran standing there calmly, hands held behind his back. Calm after the storm, all traces of steam gone. "This is the last chance for you to see whatever you were looking for, Hime. Well?"
"YEOOOOOOOOOW!" So at this point, Hime now understands. Understands how one feels when they punch her book and it doesn't give. It's really -weird-. Impressive but weird. But she doesn't get to think about it long; there's another geyser and it means some serious.. Serious business. And so with that, there goes Hime blasting back again. In fact for a moment someone might think it was just stock footage being replayed because for some reason the stack of trash cans is piled up again for the girl to crash into with similar loud clattering and bashing.
However this time, she's unable to burst forward. No, she realizes far too late that Tran discovered her weakness. And yet all this time, she -still- didn't see what she was looking for. And so.. That means she has to use her last chance to the fullest extent. She has to dig in deep and use her ultimate technique to get the attack out of him. However this time it's different. Different from the usual time she does it. There's a dangerous, deep glare in her eyes, as she points her finger to the sky, and a gust of wind starts to sweep and wrap about her form, tossing her scarf upward, shoulder rising and falling with her breathing, "Nnnnnghhhh!"
She points in a way that'd make even Phoenix Wright proud, plus speed lines, as she bellows to her idol, "This is the last chance.... For YOUR MOM to see what I was looking for!!!" Oh wait, those aren't speed lines, that's her bright chi raining down on Tran!

Oh man. Is Hime finally about to unleash some huge, something powerful, something to make lesser men wet their pants in fear?! It certainly looks dramatic...I mean, dang, speed lines! Wait, what? Doubting his vision for a moment, Tran takes an uncertain step back, and then crossing his arms in front of him so that none of them put out on an eye or something. It's an act which seems to be completely unneccesary, as the tiny chi streaks kind of dink off of him. He blinks, then lowers his arms. Was that even an actual attack? How confusing.
"I, uh." Tran pauses further. "Did you just...I...nevermind." He walks forward toward Himeko, then crouches down next to her. "Not a bad job. Sorry you didn't see what you were looking for, but even though I'm a lot of things, a mindreader isn't one of 'em."
COMBATSYS: Tran has ended the fight here.
The set-up and the execution was FANTASTIC! Himeko didn't even know that she had it in her, she's definatly got to remember that in the future! But.. It's put a bit of a strain on her, as the fighter just isn't used to fighting so.. So aggresively. She can't even keep her cool pose, on her hands and knees to gasp for breath, feeling a bit like jello for the moment. "Huff.. Huff.."
Once Tran approaches, she manages to get a bit more energy back, the girl looking up to the Doctor with a grin. "Not many people survive that, you're as skilled as ever!" she pipes, though then looks a bit annoyed. "And yeah, no kidding, I knew for sure I could get you to do it.. At least, until you pulled that switcharoo on me, I still can't believe it but.. But it was really cool!"
Hime gives the man a thumbs up, and then flops back to sit on her backside. "Anyway, there's nothing special about it if I just straight out tell you. I'll get it on my own. Soooo... Now how about you buy me a raspberry slurpee! Winners treat!"
Shaking his head helplessly, a rueful smile on his face, Tran responds, "Can't make it easy, huh? Fine." He stands again, and then offers a hand to help Hime up to her feet. Whether she takes it or not, he'll continue on, "Anyway, did you expect anything else? It's just plain fact that whenever anybody retreats from civilization for a while, when they come back they're more powerful than ever before." He doesn't mention that he could do the whole 'holy shit steam everyrwhere' thing before he went MIA for a few months, but it's not really needed. It can only detract from the legend of Dr. Tran!
"So," Tran continues, "Where do you want the slurpee from. Let it never be said I'm not a gracious winner."
The hand not accepted? Maybe in BIZARRO WORLD maybe, Hime takes it perhaps a little too quickly, as she's brought to her feet and there's a slight tinge of red in her cheeks. It's difficult to fight back an excited squeal; in fact she's very very close to blowing it until he recites the classic Evolution of Power. He's right! Woooow. "Wow!"
That gets her to let go of the hand to clench her own into fists with a nod of her head. "I get it! That does make a lot of sense, I need to remember that! Ok, this summer I'm going to do it!"
Dr Tran failure role model. With that decided she then ponders her choices on where to get a slurpee. "Uhhhhhhhh. Ok, this way!" she turns around and just starts walkin'. The place is like three blocks away.
The End... ?
