Vince - Rooftop Fighting

Description: Vince holds some fighting on Pacific High's rooftop for better training, when the masked and not-all-that-incognito Alexis shows up and challenges him! Extremely one-sided through the most of it, right up until the swordsman goes to ensure the girl doesn't fall off the edge of the building. The result is Vince being disgusted with the girl, and having possible misconceptions about her. Woe.

Wide, flat, and featureless. That's how the Pacific High rooftop looks normally, give or take a helicopter's presence. But on this day, Vince issued a challenge to any student willing to take him on. It's Sunday. An off day. No classes, and for those like Vince, all homework has already been done. So he's done his morning exercises, and has kept his strict training regimen, but an actual fight would be far more beneficial to him. Hence the challenge. Prepping to join the Neo League, one might say.

The fight, unfortunately, hasn't had much in the way of pizazz aside from Vince's swordsman outfit. Though for this, he isn't wielding his actual rapier - he has no interest in skewering or scarring his classmates - and is instead equipped with his buttoned foil. One might think that this would detract from his performance, but no. His strokes are apparently forceful and precise enough to seriously hurt, regardless. And his opponent is really feeling it. Vince looks to be in pristine condition still, keeping up a game of swatting away his opponent's fists and swiftly jabbing him back down.

As for the crowd? There's a good few people present - those not doing their homework at the last minute, anyway. There is cheering, of course, but not by too much. The fight's been pretty one-sided from the get-go, and that doesn't make for much need of cheering, except for those rooting for the other guy.

But with a final, sharp downwards stroke of the foil against his opponent's head, the match is over.

Tch. There's plenty of cheering! Alexis heard of the fight, left her homework where it was and climbed her way up to the roof to cheer just as loudly as she promised! She may be the loudest voice present, though things do appear to be quite one-sided, but that's fine by her! Gives her lots and lots of practice for when she tries out for the cheerleading squad!
What's really scary about being up here on the roof is that there doesn't seem to be anything preventing people from being tossed over the edge, or accidentally falling. There's nary a railing or a roped off area to keep spectators or fighters safe. The only thing that's probably keeping the fighters from winding up too close to the edge is the fact that the crowd circles them making a solid protective line of people that would have to be broken through before someone were to fall to their death down below.
A cheer bubbles up from the crowd as the match comes to a close, and that's when Alexis disappears into the throng of people, and presumably down the ladder to grab her notebook for that promised autograph! Before the cheers die down, there is a newcomer pushing through the crowd. Upon her face is a white butterfly mask, decorated with deep red roses comprised of glitter. Her hand carries a matching white ribbon with large rose blossoms in the same deep red, green leaves and thorns trailing behind each flower.
This odd masked figure is quickly approaching the victor, leaping through the air and somersaulting until she lands directly before him. Left hand slamming against her hip, she whisks the ribbon through the air and points the cane at the fencer.
"Sir! I challenge you to a duel!" The gymnast attempts to neutralize her voice, a feeble attempt at masking her accent as she makes the playful challenge.

Vince turns to regard his opponent in a friendly, amiable manner, when suddenly there's a womans leaping into action. She actually bashes into the previous opponent, spilling him out into the audience who find it rather humorous. Haw, haw, haw, here comes a new challenger. Vince, however, just quirks an eyebrow at the girl in the mask.

And there's that really weird accent again.

But she issued a challenge, and Vince is not one to withdraw. It simply isn't in him. So his blade flashes upright, and his body turns, left hand out behind him. "Very well, whoever you are," he plays along. "I accept."

And the audience is all 'ooh' over the newcomer. She looks flashy. Flashier than Vince, which is a pretty rare thing in and of itself. That and she looks pretty hot, too. So she's instantly got some cheers for her.

"En garde!" This warning is instantaneous, and immediately afterwards, he's suddenly springing towards her. Kicked off of the left leg, he lands in a very deep lunge, the buttoned tip of the sword shoving extremely forcefully towards her stomach. Normally this would skewer a target outright, but the button will prevent that. Hopefully.

Meep! Alexis knocked someone over! How... how... embarrassing! "Oh, oh! I'm /so/ sorry!" She would offer a hand down to help the person, up but her challenge has been accepted! The crowd likes her! This distracts her quite a bit as she's got to turn to flash them a bright, cheerful smile and give a little wave. D'oh! She forgot to sprinkle her little butterfly sequins at them and...
She's being given a warning, and so she's prepared. Sort of. She manages to lift the cane of the ribbon up enough to knock against the tip of the foil, but it only manages to slow things down and not hit her so hard. It still hits, and it causes her to flail her arms and yeep out a loud, "Auuugh!"
Four quick steps backward are taken, each one a graceful, careful movement. The cane in her hand is given a slight shake, causing the ribbon to create a horizontal snake pattern which is imbued with a soft greenish blue energy. Two swift steps are taken forward and she shouts, "En garde to you too!" Snapping her wrist, she sends the ribbon-snake toward Vince, the two little points at the end of the ribbon bite forward aimed against his arm, acting as teeth.

Recovering from the lunge, Vince raises back to his full height and sets himself into his stance once more at the ready. And he fully expects his opponent to be down and out. The Balestra is seriously painful, sometimes even fatal. But.. you know.. button tip. But she reacted quickly enough to it, and she's still standing. Wow. That's actually saying something for her. It gets a pleased smile from the fencing, and he inclines his head. Well, well. More to the girl than he expected.

And this proves to be truer and truer. That ribbon of hers seems to come to life and spring at him quickly. It simply is not quick enough to penetrate the Rose Dansant technique, as Vince responds with a swift vertical moulinet rotation, catching the ribbon along the edge of his foil and drawing it away harmlessly. Though not in a full moulinet-strike, Vince does attempt to use his momentum to his advantage. A measured step is taken, and along with that comes a sharp, sudden thrust blurring towards the girl's chest. Punctuating this strike is a coalescence of swirling ethereal energy, not unlike a goffy tornado, drilling along the blade of the foil and stabbing forcefully at the girl's torso.

COMBATSYS: Alexis endures Vince's Venteuse.

Even though it's still early in the fight, Alexis has her answer to the question she was mulling over last night. Her ribbon doesn't stand up well at /all/ to the fencer. That is a little depressing to her, as she thought she was fairly good with what she did, but he's making all these fancy blurry moves that she's finding difficult to react to.
Gaping as he draws the ribbon away, she watches him from behind the mask. Eyes wide and full of surprise, she sees the vortex of ethereal energy and grins. So that's his secret! It's a lot different to notice these things when you're part of the game!
Wanting to see just how damaging this energy strike is going to be, the little gymnast holds her ground. There's no flinch, no back-stepping, no scream. She actually tumbles herself /into/ the attack, taking the full brunt of it. As it knocks her backward, she drops into a backsault and then kips back up to her feet. "I like your tornado," she comments with a still-cheerful smile despite the fact that she doesn't feel she's doing well at all.
Ripping the ribbon back toward her, she tosses it in the air and catches the ends that just attempted to bite into him. Wrapping it tightly about her hand, she takes hold of the cane and cartwheels toward him. Feet landing just a foot away from him, she twirls around and sends a quick boppity little punch toward his jaw with her wrapped hand.

Vince returns the cheerful smile with one of his own. He likes the friendly sort of fighters, he does. He can rest assured that there will be no hard feelings after the match. "The Venteuse? Oh yes.. that's-" And she's in motion again. "-talk for another time."

The fact that she decided just to stand there and -take- the blow really says something. She's either a massochist, or tough as can be. But he has little time to dwell on that or try to decipher between the two. When the jab comes, his foil flashes up to intercept it along the flat, but it still gets pushed against him. Negligible effect though, in his mind. He's quick to try and shove her back away from him into more proper fencing distance. His foil then suddenly flashes out, aiming a 'cut' across her stomach. Though with the button, it's more akin to a really hard smack.

COMBATSYS: Vince successfully hits Alexis with Quick Strike.

"Eeep!" Alexis watches her ribboned hand just graze against him, and she pouts a little. Now she knows for sure she's got to take Hurricane Hime up on the offer of training at the Hibiki Dojo. Maybe that will help her become a superstar like all the people she admires! As the foil flashes out to cut across her stomach, she attempts to roll herself toward it again, in the hopes of being strong enough to take the pain she knows is coming. Her glossy boot catches on a rock on the roof and instead she mucks up horribly and is hit completely solidly.
Several steps back are taken and she doubles over. While she's down, she unfurls the ribbon from her hand and snaps it tightly in the air, pretending it's a whip. "Heeeyah!" This ribbon whip is then lashed out toward him, attempting to lasso his midsection. Yanking the cane inward, she tries to knock him off balance and send him sprawling down to the surface of the rooftop.

Vince whirls his foil back into place after striking the girl, and he smiles at her once more. Is this it? Is she finished? ...Apparently not! She's still got some life left in her! Good for her! She's really got some spirit! And with that ribbon, such expertise with it! She's really talented!

But, again, a bit too slow to penetrate the graceful defenses of Rose Dansant. The foil flashes downwards, catching the would-be lasso along its side and guiding it around him. Once the ribbon has been misguided completely by his blade, its swivelled in a quick, precise motion, coiling the ribbon around the foil. And with a sudden, sharp tweak of the wrist, he means to berift her hand of the cane completely, sending the weapon to the ground harmlessly.

But immediately following this, the foil shakes off the ribbon and Vince thrusts his left hand up towards the sky. His eyes leave his challenger only for a second, focusing on the heavens. And strangely enough, the clouds seem to part overhead, and a form emerges, kareening down in a swoop. As it rapidly approaches, the figure comes more into view as an ethereal avian, a falcon hued a foggy gray with opaque black eyes. But by the time its in full view, it's far too late. The being lets out a shrill cry and divebombs for Vince's opponent's face, curved beak and talons first, aiming to smash into her and ascend back into the sky in one swoop.

Alexis watches as her ribbon is ripped from her hand and sent tumbling harmlessly to the rooftop. It's like watching a part of her be cut off and tossed away aimlessly, and this makes her huff out a frustrated little sigh. She's not only sucking so badly that he could likely grab her and toss her off the roof at this point, but she's sucking badly enough to blow her concentration. Were this gymnastics, she'd be able to plaster on a faux smile and continue with her routine, but now? She just feels completely idiotic for even issuing a challenge against him. She never had any hope. It's like entering a gymnastics competition when the judges have picked a winner before hand, this is so one-sided.
Glancing skyward seconds before the avian figure comes into view, the gymnast attempts to drop into a side-sault and get out of the way of the impending talons. Due to the fact that she's begun to lose any hope of hitting him at all, her movements are slower and she finds herself with energy talons crashing against her mask. Squeaking in surprise, she flails her arms to brush the bird away and winds up falling onto her rear near the edge of the building.
She is less than pleased with the fact that she couldn't even maintain her balance at that.
Adjusting her mask so that it continues to hide her face despite the tears that have now appeared in it, she kip-ups and pivots herself back toward the fencer. Twisting, she draws her left leg upward. Another sharp pivot, this time away from him, and she's suddenly cracking her leg out toward him in a manner reminiscent of a snapping whip.

Vince observes the energy bird's antics as it bashes into his foe, then arcs back up to disappear once more in the clouds. He grins up at it, then looks back to his opponent. She.. seems less than happy. Probably for how she's performed so far. Poor thing. But she -did- issue the challenge. She's getting what she literally asked for.

But some of the audience members have noticed the tears. Particularly a few of the females in the audience. So they're trying to coo and croon to make her feel better, offering words of encouragement and suggestions and advice. One of them helpfully adds to, "Avoid his sword." Go, masked ribbon-girl!

But she's making an attempt at Vince again. This kick is fast, and in an instant, he knows he isn't set up to parry or deflect the oncoming blow. So the flat of his blade intercepts it again, pushing agaisnt his torso a little more forcefully than the last one. This one even gets a little 'nnf' from the fetching noble. But since she's decided to move to kicks, so shall he. He pivots over on his right foot, and his left leg chambers before launching a snappy sidekick with the heel of his boot towards her head.

For the record, there are no tears. Alexis is being hard on herself, but she's not going to cry when there's a crowd. After the fight maybe, but for now, no. Those in the audience that are cooing at her are ignored because of this. Go masked ribbon-girl? What the heck do they think she's been trying to do!??! There's really no point in pulling out any flashy moves, since it's fairly certain she'll just fail and she's embarrassed enough as it is. She /was/ trying to have fun, but it's really no fun when everything is so very one-sided.
Once her kick is deflected, she just sighs again. She shouldn't have bothered with it, really. She can't hit him. It just causes her spirit to fade some and she looks at his leg as he snaps it toward her.
She tries to dodge out of the way, but apparently even with all her years of gymnastics training, she can't even move fast enough. That just opens a whole new can of worms, since it makes her think she's been too slack on /that/ and she'll never be ready for the big competition next month.
It's very rare for Alexis to get depressed, but she's rapidly getting to that point.
The strike to her head has her flying back toward the edge of the building, and this time she actually slides right off of it. People in the crowd gasp at this, some even shrieking at the fact that a young girl is about to plummet to her death. She has managed to grip her fingers tightly to the lip of the rooftop and with a graceful agility, she launches herself into the air and executes a double somersault twist. Landing with a small misstep, she clenches her fists at her side and hmphs. He tried to kill her just then! He tried to send her to her death, and ohgodherheadisdizzy...
Giving her head a small shake, she tries to force a smile. She's got to smile. If this is the end of things, she's got to go out smiling despite how she's feeling inside. Whirling about to face the crowd, she gives them a tiny thumbs up sign. The gymnast may not have hope of her own, but why let the crowd down? Before anyone sees it coming, she's performing a round-off back handspring toward the fencer. Legs shoot outward and she attempts to clench them tightly about his neck. If her grapple attempt hits true, she suddenly twists her body sharply to the left in a full twist and tries to throw him into the crowd.

Vince feels his foot strike the girl as he had intended, but.. her balance is apparently worse than he'd have assumed. Terribly so. He rights himself in time to see her take a tumble right off the rooftop. Hey, what the Hell! The audience is supposed to keep that from happening! So the fencer starts to rush towards the edge of the rooftop with every intention to grab her and haul her back onto her feet. Did he mean to do that to her? Heck no! And he certainly won't have her getting killed on his conscience!

But just as he nears her, she goes springing through the air. Right over his head. This gets a bewildered look from him at first, but then he's exhaling a sigh of relief.

That.. actually was bad. That opened a window for Alexis to grab him as she intended to. He lets out a surprised 'grk', hands setting to her hips to attempt to resist the toss, but alas. He's flung right into the audience, who part to let him hit the ground HARD and rather gracelessly. Some help -they- are. But then he raises to his full height again, staring blandly at his opponent, he sweeps his arms out to the sides to ensure the audience remains backed off. And they do.

Thus begins a specialized technique of his. The foil begins cutting through the air rapidly, slashing and slicing here and there before him. As if slicing through the fabrics of space and time itself, visible foggy gray tear-lines appear against his foe's torso (or against any other object that happens to be there). After only the first three slashes, his arm and foil blur out of vision, making countless strokes against the air. Or against the girl from a distance, as the ripped visual would have someone believe.

Alexis pretty much feels that she's done for. Despite her epic amounts of training, she's had a pretty tough workout with him already. He was right, he's not only good at fencing, but a formidable fighter in his own right. She's definitely gonna have to get his autograph after this, even if the fight /has/ depressed her quite a bit.
She'll bounce back. She always does! She's even got a good friend she can call if she feels so bad she starts to cry. He'll help her through it, just like he did last time.
Standing there, she simply watches as the foil slashes and slices at the air, trying to cut through the sky. Beneath the mask, her peridot eyes widen as she sees the tear-lines begin to appear and she handsprings herself into the attack. The tears and slashes continue to appear on her torso as she finally tumbles past him, and yet she seems to be unharmed by all of it.
With her eye on the prize, the little gymnast tucks herself into a roll and scoops up her ribbon. Springing up from this with her arms wide in a typical gymnastics victory pose, she quickly untangles the ribbon and breathes in and out quickly. This is intense! She's almost down to her last ounces of energy, but she's got one final trick up her sleeves! Grasping the cane in her hand, she throws it toward Vince in the manner one would throw a boomerang. If she's lucky enough to have the cane hit him a wave of blue-green energy shoots forth from it, hitting him before she tugs on the end of the ribbon and sends the cane flying back toward her hand.

As she goes RIGHT THROUGH WHAT COULD KILL A MAN, Vince is left pretty stunned. And rightfully so. Where in the HELL did that energy come from? He obviously under-estimated her. She wasn't about out or anything. She was just recharging her battery, for SHE IS NOT HUMAN. As such, he's struck hard by both the cane and the energy before he can recollect his thoughts, and he's blown over to the ground.

But he's certainly not out. In fact, Vince is a bit perterbed. She was putting on quite a show about how she was doing, all for what? A dramatic comeback? What a spotlight whore.

In an instant, Vince has twisted over onto his rear, propping himself with his swordhand with his left hand outstretched. The motion of retrieving one of his rosettes isn't even visible, nor is it more than a flashing blur through the air as the stiletto races towards her torso.

Alexis is /not/ a spotlight whore, thank you very much! She really was doing poorly in her mind, and so she reacted as such. 'sides, he really hurt her and knocked her off the side of the building! The fact that her last two attempts have actually managed to hit have boosted her morale up again. She's not cocky or overconfident, but maybe there's a light at the end of the rainbow or something like that.
Though only a flashing blur of steel, she catches sight of it out of the corner of the mask. In a gracefully agile motion, she bridges back in order to avoid the blades sharp edge. It whisks barely a centimeter away from her chest as she's arched back, and once it flies over her and clatters to the ground. Flicking her wrist as she begins to stand, she lashes the ribbon out toward his ankles attempting to twist it about his body entangling him in the silk before snapping the cane back toward her and flipping him down to the roof.

He's fairly certain she was trying to hustle him, wear down his resolve with a pitiful helpless girl act, when all the while she was just rolling with what he was giving her. -How- she'd manage to do that, he's not certain. But that's definitely how it looks, and he thoroughly annoyed with her.

So the moment the ribbon comes at him again, he just leaps over it to close the distance between them, evading whatever it is she intended to do with it. It doesn't matter to him, really. He plans to end it now with a hard, but swift swipe of the foil to the head as he lands again. Not unlike how he finished off his last challenger.

And stilettos are rather difficult things to throw properly. Needless to say, it's not done with half the expertise needed to hit him. Alexis is not schooled at all in throwing knives of any kind. It was really just something she was attempting to do in order to distract and build distance between them so that she could execute another surprisingly flippy move, despite her body telling her to give up. She's not entirely surprised that his own blade manages to sail past him and clatter to the rooftop once more.
She makes ready to leap through the air toward him, her left foot just beginning to kick off the rooftop.
Surprise hits her in the form of another rosette. Giving a sharp cry of pain, she intakes a breath in a less than smooth hiss and tears really begin to form in her eyes. This might not have been so bad, but there is currently a stiletto handle sticking out of her stomach, blood beginning to stain the front of her leotard, dripping down to the featureless flat roof.
Dropping her head down, ponytail drifting over her shoulder she chokes out, "Th-thank y-ou f-for... ow... the.. d-duel... sir..." Whimpering, she begins to attempt working the stiletto from her stomach. Beneath the mask, her eyes water. "Y-ou... are a... f-formidable... opponent...."

And the audience falls silent when the girl cries in pain. The girls who were trying to rah-rah the stranger into more action were really feeling like they were helping her! But then she goes and admits defeat. This elicits a much better cheer than the one from the previous fight, seeing as how she was turning things around - much to Vince's agitation. But to her, he doesn't offer anything amiable. He just keeps his annoyed look trained on her. His left hand lifts to his side, and another member of the fencing team places the errant rosette in the hand. Vince simply slides it back into his belt.

"I don't know what kind of angle you were trying to pull, but don't expect any sympathy from me, if ever we face each other again," says the noble. His big mistake was moving to the edge of the roof to try and make sure she didn't fall off or something. Of -course- she planned it like that. He didn't think he kicked her that hard, and she seemed much too graceful for that... and the crowd moving to let her fall? Much too convenient. She was playing on his good will. A truly dirty tactic. The foil is flashed in a whirl, bringing it to rest in the sheath at his side again. And without any more words, he turns to leave her there with the stiletto stuck in her stomach. If she can freaking withstand his Phantom Laceration, she can deal with -that-.

COMBATSYS: Vince has ended the fight here.

"I wasn't pulling any a-angle," she cries, accompanied by a very loud yelp of pain as she pulls the rosette out of her stomach. Alexis staggers to her feet, one hand holding the injury, the other hand holding out the stiletto to him. Only he's leaving, and he seems to be really, really annoyed with her. "I... I'm s-sorry you f-feel... ow... that way..."
But that's all Alexis has time to say before she drops to the rooftop. The bloody stiletto falls to the side and she slumps over, the injury proving to be far too much for her amateur little body to handle.

Vince doesn't bother turning around when she protests. He just waves a hand dismissively over his shoulder and walks on. Who does she think she's fooling? She even preened after miraculously leaping over the edge of the building. No, next time? If there ever is a next time, he'll not spare her anything. No snowball effect -then-.

But some kids try to help the girl up, while some other students rush to get a nurse for her. She'll be taken care of, well enough, while Vince goes to brood with a training buddy.
