Description: Zero meets Alpha. Round one.. Fight!
Elfa's daily grind hasn't changed much as of yet. Since coming to the YFCC, she's been doing her best to keep her head down, and to wait for the help that she is supposed to be getting in bringing her life back to something resembling normal. She still wears part of her 'uniform', the fabric she'd been forced into by the people that found her, a dark red quilted leotard. For some reason, she doesn't feel comfortable without it on. She's also got a pair of jeans on, some semblance of 'normality', something to make her stand out less.
At the moment, she's standing within the upraised area of the sparring locale, just watching at the bare padded mat, to think things through as she finds herself doing more and more often. She wraps her arms against her shoulders, rocking a little as things in her head whisper to her, and then sighs, shaking her skunk-striped hair out in an effort to dismiss those demons.
And in the lobby steps Cammy, a jacket on to help keep off the cold that wafts in momentarily. She walks up to the front counter - her main interest is, of course, seeing Rose again. But with the seer out for the day, she steps away from the counter, thinking for a moment before she braces herself to a return to the cold.
She pauses as she glances into into one of the sparring areas, and does a double-take as she steps down to the staircase, her gaze centering onto the girl. While she may not be the analysis machine she once was, the girl before her stirring some memory in her confused mind. Coming to the bottom of the stairs, one hand graps the strap of her duffelbag while the other still hangs into the railing as she halts, staring at Elfa for a long moment.
Part of Doll training is in bearing, manner - those are probably the things that twig Cammy's memory. Elfa still stands like a Doll when people aren't watching - always watching and alert, still wears part of a Doll's uniform, though the color is off. It's odd that she doesn't react to Cammy's presence for a moment or two, things inside distracting her far longer than she should have needed to notice that another person had come in.
Eventually though, pale grey eyes turn to see Cammy, no recognition there at all - just a wariness that she's held in for everyone so far. After all, so far, she'd just been punched a lot, tied up, and carted around. 'For her own good', of course. ".. Do you work here?" she asks, russian accent thick, though not hiding her curiosity.
Cammy shakes her head simply as she looks away, and then walks further in. She then looks up to Elfa, and offers a half-smile. "I just stopped in for a friend, at least..." She scratches her cheek, letting the '... I think so.' stay behind her lips. Her foot goes to the sparring area as she leaves the bag on the stands, and she stretches her arms out over her head.
She then looks over, and looks a little nervous as she asks, "Do you... work here?", with a little bit of puzzlement in her tone. Could Elfa really be?... well, with Rose about... maybe? Her gaze drifts away a little, as thoughts tug it aside.
"Oh. No, no - I'm just staying here for a little bit. Um.. home problems." Safest thing to call it, when a person is someone she doesn't know. And really, Elfa has no clue who Cammy is - without any introduction, it's just a person who thinks she works here, which is a consternating thing. "I'm here to meet a lady named Rose, but I haven't seen her yet." Elfa motions towards the infirmary and the offices, with a little shrug of her shoulders after.
"My name's Elfa. Ah... Elfa Byakova. It's nice to meet you. Have you tried the... equipment here? It's very good." She's trying to find common ground with the newcomer - and the voices are good for one thing, at least - suggesting that Cammy is someone who knows her way around a ring. Maybe she'll be able to forge a bond or two.
"Oh.", Cammy says, and then looks up towards where... well, where Rose might be normally. But no such luck, of course, today. "I came here to see Rose, but she's not here today." Is she starting a Shadaloo Recovery Group without telling Cammy? She frowns slightly at the thought, but it quickly passes.
She then nods, saying, "I've tried it out... I'm not used to training that way, but it's pretty good." She tilts her head a bit, studying Elfa, and then ohs, straightening up as she puts a hand to her chest with a smile. "I'm Cammy White. Good to meet you." If her suspicions are right, it's no good dwelling on whatever Elfa's past may be yet from Cammy's perspective. After all, she knows she's not eager to dwell on her own past either...
Cammy White? Elfa's eyes open a little wider in recognition, though it's not quite for the right reason. Pale grey shows a bit of surprise, and then it's shut down /quite/ quickly. She doesn't want to freak the other girl out, after all! But her demeanor changes, loosening up and losing some of her defensiveness.
"Sakura.. she's the girl that took me here. She mentioned you, I think. You were.. um... part of something called 'Shadaloo'?" She says it hesitantly, eyes flicking around as if just saying the word would cause a bogeyman to appear, one with a large chin, white eyes and a mad-on about losing multiple dolls in such a short time. "I.. They brought me here because they said Rose could help with the voices." This may not be the best thing to say to instill confidence with Cammy...
Well, so much for the 'try to be friendly and not mention big evil right away' strategy. Looking a little chagrined, Cammy rubs her neck. "Did she?" She closes her eyes for a deep sigh and exhalation, and then opens them, her look more serious. "Rose is good a what she does. She's pretty strange, but she knows what she's doing. You can trust her."
As the former leader of the dolls - if not necessarily the one before her - there's that twinge of responsibility in her heart. Though once programmed, it now feels simply personal, a desire not to see her own tragedy repeated. "I don't... really know as much, though. If you need any help, though..." She looks more intently at Elfa. "... I'm here."
"Thanks. I appreciate it, I just... I want things to be normal and go home. Father needs me." It's simply said, but there's a lot beneath it, undercurrents in her voice. Frustration about not being able to just /leave/. Anger at being stuck in a situation that wasn't her fault, instead being just thrown into it, and having to deal. Fright that if she does screw up, that her Father, her family will have to pay for it. Her shoulders slump just a bit, and then she offers up a weary smile.
"What.. I mean, if you don't mind, what /do/ you know? I'm taking information anywhere I can get it. I ... woke up in a bottle with someone who tried to kidnap me and stuffed me in a storage container." Talk about a rough day. It was actually a rough week, but going into that part might put people at risk. She's smart enough not to mention the rest.
"Know?", echoes Cammy. "About what, exactly?" It's not like she's been privy to Shadaloo's secrets after leaving, even if she is familiar enough with their MO. "If you could slow down a little and explain," she says with a gesture, "I'll try and remember what I can."
Of course, Cammy's never really worried about loved ones being in the way, so that doesn't really come to mind so quickly for her. Still, as the first dolls, she does know the process perhaps better than anyone save the scientists that perfected it.
"About.. Did you hear voices? I mean, when I get around people, I.. I hear things, telling me what I should do. It's not as bad as it was, but it's there." Ahh, Doll training. Always analyzing, always prepared to leap into action, to move into devestating explosiveness. Such a frustration to be trying to have a normal conversation while someone keeps whispering to you in a monotone about how best to choke the life from them. "I don't really know much myself. I woke up in some goop, and then got held as 'something useful' by some ladies and some guys. From there, Sakura brought me here."
She tries to slow down for Cammy, but it feels more and more like she is really alone, that noone else is having to deal with what she has. Maybe she'll be lucky and Rose will know more. It's what she has to hope for. Her fists ball up just a little, and dig into the railing around the arena.
Cammy shakes her head. "I didn't really hear anything like that." She looks downcast for a moment. "I... was like a different person then." Her gaze shifts back up. "I still sometimes think like I used to, but it's like remembering somebody else's life." She looks up with her blue eyes, and regards Elfa. "I don't know if it was a different process, but Shadaloo is-" Biting her lip, she carefully considers her next words. "- they brainwash girls for their own purpose. I'm sorry." And her eyes turn away. There's some guilt there, an echo of the girl sent to evaluate targets for the Doll process, who defined people as targets for assassination or recruitment. Enough for her to remember, if not to understand.
"But they fixed you, right? You're better now, you don't have... that sort of stuff going on. So they should be able to fix me, right?" Right now, it's Elfa's main hope. She doesn't /want/ the voices, doesn't /want/ to feel like a stranger in her own skin, one that only feels 'right' when wearing a reminder of her captivity. Ugh!
"Don't be sorry. You didn't do it, right? You're like me - you got caught up in something bad, but you got out of it." she looks eager to believe this, hopeful in fact. After all, if Cammy did it, Elfa can do it too! "So, what do you do now? I mean, do you do anything besides working here?"
"Rose can help.", Cammy ways with a nod. Cammy can't speak to being /all/ better, but she's free, at least. And she's glad to have it. "I didn't do it, no." But she feels helpless to stop Vega from doing this over and over again, no matter how many get rescued or saved.
"I just... well." She can't tell all. "Fight, I guess.", she says with a slightly resigned tone. "And I'll be going to school, soon. I guess I've been a little lost since." There's a grin, and she shrugs firmly. "But a good sort of lost."
"I think I'll be glad to see her. Thanks, Cammy." Elfa offers a brighter smile, fingers letting go of the railing. She hops over it, dropping down into the spar area, fingers pushing one of the punching bags a bit out of the way. It's something that's gnawing at her, a curiosity that she can't quite tell if it's her, or that voice. But really, what's the harm in asking...?
"If you just fight, would you spar with me? I mean, I want to get some of this tension out, it feels like I could cut it with a knife. Something to loosen me up, maybe - calm me down..?" She puts on her most hopeful look, and certainly tries to look like she's got herself under control enough to do this.
Bowing her head slightly, Cammy smirks, and then looks up to Elfa. "Sure, if you think you can, but-" The smirk becomes an embarassed grin. "- I'm pretty strong, though, I'll warn you. If you want, I can give you a handicap." She starts to reach down for her duffelbag, to the familiar gloves... but halts. No, that might be overdoing it. With quick twist, she stands up straight. But after all, most of the Doll training started with her. She doesn't want to overwhelm her counterpart, but at the same time... a fighter's pride is a tough thing to gauge.
"A handicap? I think... I'll be ok." She nods sagely at the thought - then shakes her head. She doesn't /think/ she'll need it. In this place, a nice safe area, she should be fine with trying her hardest to take down the other girl. As she decides this, she simply says so. "No, no. I just want a workout. Just, um.. try not to take out any teeth, please. That first person that found me kinda loosened up some." She rubs her jaw in memory, ignoring the fact that the teeth were gone once, and now are back. That's her special, semi-scary secret.
With her decision made, she steps out into the center of the padded area, and stretches her arms above her hair. Her stance, her balance - it's pure Doll combat style, the posture picture-perfect to her time in Shadaloo. She can't really help it - it's what she was given, and what she has to work with. Might as well test out and see what she was given. Right? Right?

Cammy smiles and shrugs. "Well, okay." No need to point out that she was the /first/ Doll right off. "I wasn't exactly planning to, anyway." She shrugs, and brings her own stance to bear. It's similar enough, but loosened up slightly, taking into account her extra training. "Don't wrry about holding back any, though." If it's a mirror, it's a distorted one, at least.

Don't hold back. Elfa hasn't really figured out the word. Part of being a hockey player's daughter, you get some of those instincts. Those instincts of 'full out body check into walls'. Er, well, more of an instinct of going and giving 110 percent. That's really what Elfa attempts to do as soon as Cammy makes the offer.
"Got it..!" With that, Elfa starts towards the other woman, an undisciplined rush that quickly gains both composure and technique as something inside her guides her. She comes down low, and then just brings her arm up in a fast uppercut. She's trying to move as fast as she can, but she's got this sinking feeling that it's so slow to the woman in front of her...
COMBATSYS: Cammy blocks Elfa's Wild Swing.

With a slight widening of the eyes, Cammy brings an arm, taking the impact. Well, that wasn't exactly the programmed style she's used to, but... every Doll does bring a bit of their background to the style. Her analytical instincts come to the fore, and she's already extrapolating off the single motion into other possibilities. She may not be a Doll, but she still has all her tools.
As she pushes the arm off, she tries to push Elfa aside as if to expose her back. Then, with a grab, she retracts her arm, trying to bring the russian around to the ground in a an efficient, simple throw, and hops away, trying to put some distance between her and Elfa.
COMBATSYS: Cammy successfully hits Elfa with Fast Throw.

Part of the problem of being full-on into attacking is that you leave yourself open. Elfa's /intent/ was to do something completely different, to be able to back-skip like Cammy does after the blocked attack. However, she's slower than the other former Doll, and the catch and throw is quite effective, Elfa hitting the padded mats with a 'whumpf'! She doesn't quite bounce off the surface, but it takes her enough time to allow Cammy the space she needs.
Rolling to her back, she gets to her feet in a effective, quick motion, no energy wasted, and rubs at her spine. Joints pop as she settles up, and regains her momentum and balance. "Nice.. I got ahead of myself." She steps forwards then, and flips her feet up over her head in a cartwheel to close the distance, then jumps up and brings her arms both down, aimed at Cammy's biceps in the strike. If she can wear down the girl's block, she might have an easier time taking her on. However, that involves /hitting/ her...
COMBATSYS: Cammy dodges Elfa's Fierce Punch.

Cammy steps aside, weaving out of the way of her attack, her pigtails sweeping after with the motion. "Ah... thanks!" After feeling how hard Elfa hit last punch... well... she doesn't need that doubled. Her strength is in her speed and flexibility, and with a spring, she does a forward back flip into the air.
Her flight is brief, though, she throws out a midair side kick. If she can manage to impact, she'll try and use it to bounce off back into a roll into a skidding crouch, trying to make sure she hits and runs rather than slugging it out at close range where Elfa just might have the advantage.
COMBATSYS: Elfa dodges Cammy's Light Kick.

In a rare moment, Elfa has the joy of her /own/ training coming into play. Fingers come up to block, and then instead she spins on her back foot and allows the side-kick to slip just by her in a pirouette that would have looked nice back in her ice skating days. "You're fast!!" she exclaims, her admiration easily heard in her voice.
At least, for that second, she was faster. Whether or not that will last is certainly a question for the future. She's not willing to allow Cammy to dictate the pace of the fight, instead leaping forwards, sliding her foot out in a shot at Cammy's knee, then rechambering and aiming for her shoulder. Still trying to catch points that will allow her to slow the other woman down, anything to even the odds that are coming along.
COMBATSYS: Cammy dodges Elfa's Strong Kick.

The feint comes, and Cammy ducks into it, apparently spotting it as the legs moves up. Her fist goes low as she nearly hits the floor, but Cammy's on the ball, and brings her fist upwards towards Elfa's stomach. It's not quite an uppercut, but it is certainly thrown at an odd angle as she rises with it.
Though it's risky, she thinks it might be problematic to fall into a pattern here. She's trained to assault from numerous angles - the theory being that another Doll can fire from an opposite angle and throw off their opponent's timing. Even without a partner, her attacks from above or below can be surprising - but will it actually surprise a would-be peer?
COMBATSYS: Elfa fails to interrupt Fierce Punch from Cammy with Takedown Spear.

Falling into patterns. Elfa hasn't figured out how to really overwrite what she sees or feels in the fights yet. That's something she might get, given time. It'd allow her to see how the surprise attacks come in, and allow her to counter and avoid them. This time, however...
Elfa tries to go for Cammy's throat as she goes down - which offers up her stomach in that odd angle, the impact lifting her off her feet, and then knocking her to her knees and off to the side. She chokes back anything akin to feeling ill, but it's a close thing, indeed. She'll need a moment or two to recover her breath, oh yes, yes she will...
But Cammy isn't inclined to give her that moment. She didn't want a handicap, and so Cammy rushes after, narrowing her eyes. She throws out a quick knee toward the solar plexus, trying to keep Elfa dizzy and off-balance. That's just the start, though...
... as Cammy tries to grab ahold of her, and bring her in for a backdrop. While she can't ensure Elfa's teeth will come out okay, at the very least, the mat will help cushion falls. While she hasn't gone all-out yet, the combination is a step up from her previous, more hesitant attacks. After all, Cammy may not exactly be handicapping herself, but she's a bit hesitant to bring her blue flames to bear on the woman.
COMBATSYS: Elfa blocks Cammy's Combo Throw.

Cammy 0/-------/------=|=====--\-------\0 Elfa
Cammy's fast. Too fast. Elfa can't keep up, but she wasn't expecting to. This is one good thing about Cammy's battle - at least she's not going to wake up with a busted nose, or being drugged and tied up. Hopefully. She doesn't really know the other girl, does she?
She can't eel out of the grab, but as she goes up and over, she manages to get her hands down before her head hits, rolling away from the back-bend and getting back to her feet. As she staggers upwards, she narrows her eyes, watching the woman with something akin to .. surprise, as if she were hearing something in her head. "You're holding back. You said you wouldn't." It's an accusation, as she starts to listen more carefully. She needs to prove she's in control of herself, and in control of what she needs to beat her opponent. Nicely. This is, after all, just sparring.
COMBATSYS: Elfa focuses on her next action.

Cammy closes her eyes, if only for a moment. "A little.", she admits, and then adds, "But you don't get to tell me when to use my power, you know.", a little petulantly. With that, she sidesteps, and then quickly reverses her motion, quickly snapping her elbow as she moves back towards Elfa. It's aimed at her temple, a blur of a strike to try and make sure her opponent doesn't gain that control she's searching for... even if it means getting in dangerously close again.
"You've got to earn it!"
COMBATSYS: Elfa fails to interrupt Quick Punch from Cammy with Power Drill.

Cammy 0/-------/-----==|=====--\-------\0 Elfa
Elfa is still fighting the voice, trying to find her own way instead of taking the simple advice that she hears. She'll find her way eventually, and be more effective. Right now, though - it's little enough, frustrating and aggravating. She nods her assent to Cammy's statement, and then crouches down as Cammy starts to sidestep. She brings her feet out in front of her, starting to slide forwards in the manner that Cammy might very well know - but again, it's because she's decided it, not because she had been told to. The strike comes in and catches her in the head, and she falls /again/, down to the mat. She's aggravated, slamming her hand to pad, and rolls back up, shaking the woozy out of her noggin quickly.
Cammy steps back, parting for a moment. It's not like her to show mercy in a fight, even to a friend. When she gets into a scrap, she's serious about winning, and giving it her all, like most fighters. Against another Doll - another victim - it's a bit harder. Are they just pandering to the training forced upon them, twisting the roles Vega created rather than abandoning them?
It's a distraction for Cammy, and gives her pause, and she dips her head a bit to regard Elfa as she gets up. "Why do you want to fight like this?", she asks, an almost childlike sense of puzzlement to her words. "I know it feels natural, but..." She doesn't continue with her own doubts. They're implied well enough.
COMBATSYS: Cammy takes no action.

She's taking it easy on Elfa. That's all the girl can think. She takes in a moment to suck in a breath, and then shakes her head, determined. "It's not... It's not that! If I'm going to have to worry about them coming after me, or getting kidnapped again.. I have to... I /have/ to be ready. I have to be strong." She drops into a fighting stance again, but doesn't move forwards, not just yet. She's not ready, not about to attack someone so distracted. Besides, if she moves just a little, she can feel her ribs pop back into place. That'll be just what she needs.
COMBATSYS: Elfa gains composure.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > //////////////////// ]
Cammy 0/-------/-----==|===----\-------\0 Elfa
Cammy actually smiles at that. "Oh.", she says simply, and adds, "I have to be ready for him t- er, I mean, them!" Of course, her recent loss to a Shadaloo agent has been a reminder of how her reluctance to fight may cost her to the choice of whether or not to fight at all. Catch-22s abound.
Well, Elfa wants it, and now she's going to get her wish. Cammy steps forward quickly, almost moving into her range - but then quickly bounces back. But as if on a rubber band, she snaps back forward into a twirl, and at the end of her rotation is a fierce backhand. However, the blue flow of Psycho Power added to the punch makes the surroundings flicker azure as she lashes out, letting out what she was holding back.

Elfa wants it. Elfa /really/ wants it. She doesn't know why, but she knows she needs to test herself, to test this other woman who's been involved with what she has, to push herself to be ready for when things happen again. When Ayame and Elle come after her, when Adelheid throws her through a window - when this 'Vega' comes for her. She'll be powerful enough to endure and move through that power that they have, and proclaim herself to be her own person.
However, she reacts quite differently when Cammy launches into her spinning attack. The blue fire draws her attention, the power calling to her and causing her to stand in her tracks, stock still. The impact rattles her, jars her, knocking her back and off-balance, but not to her knees or the floor. She recovers, her body holding onto Cammy's aura, the blue psychopower that the woman uses seemingly contained by the new Doll, arcing around her. Her voice is cold as she reacts, hollow instead of what she had before. "You're not... not the Father. This power.. is not compatible. Defensive systems engaged." With that, she steps back in towards Cammy, her arms trying to loop around the woman's shoulders. Her head aims for Cammy's head, her lips pursed in a cold line - an attack very similar to one of the Seven Days - a kiss, followed by a rejection of Cammy's own psychic power, backed by something even more powerful - and quite possibly, familiar, the Father's touch.
COMBATSYS: Cammy blocks Elfa's Point-Blank Burst.

More powerful or not, Cammy still has her wits about her, and she manages to pull back as the kiss comes in. "What? I'm not like that-", she manages to get off before catching the kiss with a finger. The energy arcs up her arm, and she pushes free as it practically bursts across her hand, a crackling sound follows. "I don't know what you just did to me, but you don't get to do it twice!", she says, wincing as she clutches her arm.
This is serious. She doesn't know if the reversion to her programming is momentary or lasting, but she's got to hit first and ask questions later. Ducking slightly, she then lashes up with one leg, kicking off with her other leg as she tries to launch Elfa into a finish. Hopefully, she won't have to go any farther than this.
"Cannon Spike!"

Elfa's not home right now - if you'd care to leave your number at the sound of the tone, she'll get back to you in a little bit. BEEEEP. Elfa's own motions are herky-jerky, maneuvering as if she's not quite used to her own skin, settling into Doll patterens of motions and movements, gathering energy and confidence with each second. She doesn't look at all surprised that Cammy's evaded her attack, instead just falling into another press forwards, reaching out for the girl again. Instead, she recieves a boot to the stomach, knocking her higher up, throwing her towards the ceiling, and then back down. She lands like a broken toy, arms and legs akimbo, eyes gone from pale grey to pure white.
She's broken now, unworkable. She doesn't have anything left in her muscles that do not react, no matter how much she attempts to force them. All she can do is lurch her head to the side, to attempt to meet her eyes with Cammy's, an attempt to overwhelm her with the force of will that she has been imbued with, that last 'gift' from her former Master. Vega's will, Vega's mind, intent on forcing its way back into Cammy's head one more time, and perhaps showing her just where she /should/ be..

Well, at least Cammy didn't give up her first kiss to Vega's stand-in. As she lands from her attack, she feels the intrusion, wincing as she stumbles back, pulling herself away as she looks away.
"NO!"
Cammy would rather claw her own brain out that let it happen again, and so her attention pulls away, and she swiftly turns her back on the girl, closing her eyes tightly. Never again. Was that all just a ploy, a trick to try and get her guard down before that strange attack?
It doesn't matter, though. Cammy's not going to give up on the girl. And so, as the pressure fades, she looks back over her shoulder. "Sorry.", is the best she can manage, looking slightly ashamed.
Don't worry - she'll be accepting the apology later. Like, when she's awake. Elfa's eyes are open but aren't really seeing anything at the moment. She's stuck in something else, somewhere quite far away. It's going to be a bit before her psyche is going to be able to get control on what's gotten out. It isn't something she is happy with, but hey - what's a girl to do? She'll just, uh... lie here. Semi-passed out.
