Claiming to be the number one skiing resort in North America, Whistler will host the winter Olympics in 2010. At the moment the slopes aren't open just yet, but the advertising campaigns have already begun. And what better way to advertise than to invite the Neo League to hold a fight on location at the base of the mountains. Spread in the background are tall, somewhat jagged peaks covered in white with little bits of rock showing at the very tops where they're the steepest. There's snow on the ground, but only a few inches down where the fight is actually going to be held.
An altogether beautiful scenery, but also an altogether cold one. For Sergio his last series of fights have gone from moderate, to cold wind and rain, to freezing temperatures and snow. And still he refuses to wear something other than his trademark silk shirt. "Jeeze! I swear I'm makin' them make my next fight be in Africa or somethin', this is getting out of hand!" His hands are currently on his upper arms, trying to keep himself warm. "Lets get this thing started, at least I'll warm up if I get moving."
Even in cold weather, Katelynn still wears her traditional garb. She's always ready for a fight in the most extreme of conditions, no matter how tough it might be on the body. After all, it's an important thing to be able to endure the harshest of battle conditions, since that helps to prepare one against various types of attacks from opponents. For now, she's off to the side warming up her body, loosening up and getting the blood flowing. As soon as she hears Sergio tell her to get things started, she simply turns and smirks at him. "Learn patience my friend, or you'll never get anywhere in the fighting circuit!" She then gets into her fighting stance.

Sergio runs in place for a few moments to get the blood flowing in his legs a bit more. The cold is starting to get to him, much more so then when it was just cold out. Now it's freezing, and staying still for long might actually start to be dangerous, with what he's wearing. "If I didn't have an image to keep I swear I'd have three sweatshirts on about now. I hate the cold!" It's okay folks, he's just venting. A voice, however distracts him, "Oh, good, you're here!" He moves on over to her a little closer. "And what's that supposed to mean, anyway? I'm already here, aren't I. Guess I'll have to prove myself!" That said, he drops into a brawlers stance. "Let's see if you've got as much strength as wit!"

"Strength and wit are two different things I admit, but patience is another thing as well. Without patience, you cannot survive a battle," Katelynn says in a matter of fact voice as she advances a little closer on Sergio. As soon as the referee gives the signal to start the match, Katelynn doesn't just rush out at her opponent. Instead, she carefully watches him, sizing him up for a moment, before bringing a left punch towards him at a rather fast rate of speed.

"Yea, yea, lets get this show on the road!" While Katelynn seems to be calm and composed, Sergio is rearing to go, and while she takes her time he quickly advances with a few steps. When her arm swings forward in a punch, his left arm whips around in a powerful hook that aims for the side of her head, a trail of water streaming behind it. Of course, her fist hits him first, releasing an, "Oomph!" from him, and causing his arm to swing high over her head, and he takes a step or two backwards after. "Hmph. I hate it when they're right."
The key to countering an attack is knowing how your opponent is going to attack you and then planning your counter properly. Of course, it helps if you first know whether or not it's useful to counter or try a different tactic. Hence the reason Katelynn's first attack succeeds without problem. But she's not one to follow up just like that, especially when there was an effort to counter her made. Instead, she steps back and watches Sergio carefully, waiting for the next move on his part.

So Katelynn is going to hang back and figure the situation out a bit before proceeding. It's probably a very good idea- just, not one that Sergio is going to make use of himself. He tends to just keep in someone's face and hit them until they fall down, which can be surprisingly effective against some opponents. However the distance created between the two can certainly be to his advantage, and he intends to use it. With Katelynn standing back he tries something that might catch her off guard.
He reaches into his shirt and produces about six feet of high quality rope, throwing it forward towards her at neck height. As it spins water begins to form around it until it's a swirling vortex, sweeping across the ground to try and deliver that rope right to her neck.

The rope catches Katelynn in the neck like Sergio intended it to do, but instead of hitting her as hard as it should, Katelynn gets into a defensive stance and manages to absorb most of the damage instead of being hit as hard as it could have hurt her. Nonetheless, she's a bit off-balance in terms of her concentration, but that doesn't stop her from being ready to attack still.
As soon as she's gotten free, she throws a right thrust kick while pushing off with her left foot, literally flying through the air at Sergio with a flying kick that's mostly horizontal but still very dangerous looking!

Hah! It hit! But... it doesn't seem to do quite as much as it should. Hmm. Looks like she was ready for it after all, but then many people are ready for just about anything. Still, there is a perk to it- it should slow her down at least a little, and when she comes rocketing in towards him he thinks he sees the perfect opening. He thrusts his hand up into the air, and out from the ground shoots a blast of water! ...oops. The kick manages to smash him before it appears, though, and his arm moves back... and he gets hosed down by his own water! "Grrrggglegh!"
He's tossed from his feet, and he picks himself up looking very, very annoyed. "The hell... that's supposed to be one of my most trusting attacks." He heaves a sigh, "Oh well, guess I'll just have to focus on kicking ass instead of being fancy."
"Ass kicking? You really don't understand the true nature of a fight, do you?" Katelynn says with a smirk. "It's more than just kicking butt, it's about knowing your opponent as well as yourself. Which it seems I have the upper hand on right now." Katelynn's voice is not arrogant in the least bit, but rather a matter-of-fact voice. And as soon as she's done speaking, she brings her right fist back and focuses her chi into it, before thrusting it forwards and sending it towards Sergio in the form of a bluish sphere.

It's back to the basics for Sergio, and when that energy blast comes in for him he simply crosses his arms in front of himself and becomes as rigid as a stone. The energy hits him, presses, and then dies. "Hmph." He lowers his arms into his fighting position and takes a deep breath, "Y'know what? That works for some people, but not everyone. Guys like me?" He hooks his thumb at himself, "Work pretty damn good by just poundin' people into the dirt, so I hope your ready, because once I've got my breath back you're gonna get it." She might not be trying to sound arrogant, but to Sergio she does.

Smart fighter Sergio is, taking the time to catch his breath when things are getting too hairy for him. She's not going to just let him sit there and rest peacefully, however. No, she's going to keep it up against him, this time bringing her right foot up and aiming it, heel first, at Sergio's head!

The attack comes in hard and slow. This is normally the type of thing Sergio would punish his opponent for by meeting it with a powerful attack. That... just hasn't been working for him today! So he tries something else, instead stepping to the side and letting her slip right past him, turning as she passes. -Now- he'll try to punish her, his right hand dropping low as he crouches down. In an incredibly ripped off move, he launches into a twisting, leaping uppercut, streams of water swirling out behind his fist as he moves, "Water Dragon Punch!"

As Sergio's attack comes at Katelynn, the Shotokan fighter is quick to dodge to the side and thrust her right palm outwards, aiming it right at Sergio's stomach while powering it with her chi. She smiles as she sees that the counter-attack works like a charm.
Hmm, that didn't quite work as planned. The palm smashes into Sergio's gut, partially doubling him over. He grits his teeth and takes a half step back. "Damnit, I hate it when people are so good at that. Makes fighting a real pain in the ass." A grin, "Ah well, 'A real fighter has to keep on going despite difficulties' or something like that, right." He cracks his knuckles, and then moves to attack again, this time leaping in the air towards her and striking out with his foot to try and kick her in the chest before landing and sending three hard blows towards her body, ending in a palm strike that stops just short and fires off a powerful blast of water for her chest.

Somehow, Katelynn manages to get out of the way of the incoming blast of water aimed right at her, and wastes no time in going down and attempting to adminster a foot sweep. Except just before it hits, Katelynn pauses and pivots on the extended foot to bring the other one around to deliver the actual sweep!

Sergio decides it's time to bring on the pain. So far nothing he's done has worked very well. She's managed to negate most of his attacks in various ways, and his counterattacks haven't worked so far. It's at this point where Sergio simply frowns and decides it's time to show her what he can actually do. Thus, when Katelynn dodges away and begins moving to attack his stance changes, legs spread wide in an imitation karate power stance. His right hand pulls back and quivers, and he thrusts it forward powerfully, "HAAH!"
For a moment nothing seems to happen, but then seemingly from out of nowhere a massive torrent of water tears up from the ground, blasting forward and tearing Katelynn away from him only a moment after her foot catches the side of his own. He stumbles a bit from the hit, but it's mostly negated by the incredible power of the water sweeping her away, huge chunks of the ground torn up along with it. At that Sergio crosses his arms, "That's more like it."

Katelynn is not thrilled about having her attack countered. She finds herself on the ground for a moment, dazed and confused, before she finally comes to again. When that happens, she uses a kippup to get onto her feet again. She reaches back and feels a little blood on the back of her head. Stepping back a little, she takes a moment to catch her breath.

There, that's certainly better. Katelynn is going to hold back and catch her breath, and seeing this, Sergio decides to take advantage and charge. If he can keep her on the retreat, he'll be better off. He rushes in towards her, at a relatively slow speed, and pulls his arm back before slamming it forward in a palmstrike towards her chest that stops just short, a blast of water firing out from his hand. "Hah!"

As soon as Katelynn finishes catching her breath, she brings her arms up to block against Sergio's incoming attack. As a result, it doesn't hurt as badly as it possibly could've had it successfully hit her. Hence the reason that once she's finished blocking, she brings her left foot up and aims it at Sergio's stomach.

With that foot coming up at him, Sergio simply stands his ground. It smashes into his stomach, and sinks in a bit... but he seems unphased. "Heh heh." With little or no downtime, his left fist swings underhand, water surrounding it as he tries to plant it solidly in Katelynn's stomach. "Gonna take more than that little kick to hurt me, lady!"

"Yeah, well how about thi-- OW!" Katelynn is bringing her fist back to throw a ball of chi at Sergio, but her attack backfires, as she's caught off guard and sent staggering backwards from Sergio's kick. She finds herself at a disadvantage, trying to catch her breath after getting the wind knocked out of her. Unfortunately, she can't do anything at this time.
Sergio grins, "Well, that might have hurt a -bit-more, if you'd have pulled it off." He cracks his knuckles a bit, and then grins, considering himself to be completely in control by this point. He reaches down quickly and scoops up some snow from the ground, rolling it into a ball. With a wink and a grin he calls out, "Catch!" and then lobs it right for her face. Tactically unsound, but hilarious. To him, anyway.

Katelynn foolishly thinks she can get out of the way of the snowball, but it doesn't work. Instead, it totally backfires on her, and she gets hit in the head. Hard. She finds more blood coming from her forehead. Now is not the time to get squeamish, though. Now is the time to focus on increasing her power for her opponent.

Well, the bleeding wasn't expected. But that means maybe it -was- tactically sound after all. It seems that in the end she's going to have to spend some time readying herself. Of course Sergio suddenly grins. "Haha. You're in for it now. Just going to stand around, are you? Well, I've got just the thing for you if you're gonna try that!"
He drops down into what might be a very familiar power stance, and pulls his arm back, grinning at Katelynn. His hand then suddenly thrusts forward, and a massive surge of water tears out of the ground just as it did before, rending it once more and sending hunks of frozen grounds and large rocks along for the ride, almost as if an underground river was sent to the surface, all heading for Katelynn. "HAAH!"

This whole thing about Katelynn letting the attack hit her was part of her plan. Unfortunately, she was hit harder than she hoped she would. As a result, she's looking a bit dazed and confused as she is knocked into the position she wanted to be in. Her dizziness leaves abruptly as she rushes Sergio and attempts to deliver a swift flurry of punches and kicks. Once she's done, though, she's down and out.

Katelynn simply takes the powerful hit, and then comes in to attack Sergio. While she fights through the water, however, Sergio sees what's going on and prepares his own retaliation. The first punch lands, but by the time it does there's already a /huge/ rope pulled from Sergio's shirt. The first kick lands, and knocks him further away than it should... and then he strikes, flinging that rope forward at point blank range, a huge swirling maelstrom of water forming around it and hitting Katelynn. It blasts into her in a huge splash of water which evaporates quickly, and when all the spray is gone she's left there... completely bound and tied up by the rope. Sergio grins, "Haha, nice try there, but I was ready!"
