Neo League 501 - #513: Drake vs Birdie

Description: Drake battles Birdie in the SlamMasters Arena! (Winner: Drake)

The SlamMasters arena! It never seems to be devoid of a roaring crowd, and tonight is certainly no exception. The majority of the population has gathered to witness a Neo League wrestling match! It's like professional wrestling, only there are points involved, and there are no contracts to be signed apart from the fighters getting a cut of the concessions and such.

Drake was the one who arranged this match, actually. He figured that while he was here in Metro City looking for gangers to rough up and bring to justice, he'd get in another Neo League match. More to the point, he was looking to wrestle in his home country again - remind his fans that he's still alive, kicking, and an active part of the professional wrestling world. So he spent about an hour perusing lists of fighters in the Neo League for a noteworthy wrestling opponent, and that's how he found the name Birdie. A name like that on a guy apparently this huge? You know the person must be entertaining. So the challenge was issued on little more merit than the height, weight, and fighting style. Yes, Drake is gimmicky.

So the tuxedo-wearing announcer enters the ring along with the referee, and a mic descends from the rafters. The announcer lifts it and squints at the cards in his hand. "Laaadiiiees aaand gentlemeeen! It's time for the main event of the evening! A Neo League match fought with pro wrestling rules! A true David vs. Goliath match-up! Introducing... one of America's own wrestling stars! Domino!"

And there is Drake's cue. Robe bound tightly about his slender frame and hood drawn up over his head, he starts down the entry ramp towards the ring in a trot. He drifts from one side of the ramp to the other, slapping hands, shaking other hands, ruffling some kids' hair, all while smiling brightly and confidently... making an overall good show of himself. Once he reaches the ring, he hops up onto curtain, then vaults over the top rope. From there, he simply climbs the nearest turnbuckle to its middle rope, and the robe is pulled apart. The silken garment is cast out of the ring's perameter, and his fists thrust into the air in salute to the cheering audience. Bright smile turns a little more cocky then, and he hops back down from that turnbuckle to face the ring's interior, waiting for his opponent to arrive.

"Next entering the ring, from Bristol, England... the huge! The -mighty-!" The announcer pauses and blinks. He's heard some funky, misfitting names before, but this... "..Biirrrdiiieee!" It's a struggle to say it with a straight face. The huge, the mighty Birdie.

Birdie's not as fast as Drake is. Oh no. He has to attempt to make a move before he can actually move. And he intends to way before he's called in from the other side of the ring. Not in a hood, or anything decent, Birdie comes through the drakes with only his trademark clothes. A denim vest and pants, as well as his chain bling, and his follicles of might.

Lumbering out, Birdie moves as if he was top heavy, leaning forward as he moves, arms constantly ready in front of him. Making his way towards the side of the ring he doesn't slap hands. Instead, he just goes. He's been seem before, but that was with Tim. And he's out of favor by now. But hell, there are always some die hards.

Geting into the ring for him is easy. Reaching up, he pulling himself up and over, landing on two feet standing a tall 7 feet. Looking down towards Drake, he offers his toothy grin. "The bells right over there for when you need it bloke. Don't feel like you've got something to prove. It won't end well." Just to set the mood, of course. "Hahahah!"

Getting ready himself, Birdie lowers his center of gravity, waiting for the signal to come, just watching Drake, waiting for what he does.

This was going to be fun.

While the ref inspects Domino for anything eeeevil hidden on him anywhere, the model just blinks at Birdie. Holy crap, it's like Mr. T. Only bigger. How the spork does -that- happen? Of course, he has to play up this surprise for the sake of the audience, looking Birdie up and down as he enters the ring. But again, that cocky smile returns, and Domino sets his left hand to his hip. "I'm not the one in any danger here, bud'!," he claims. And he then turns to regard the audience once more, right fist thrusting into the air as if to affirm to them that he knows he'll win. No worries. In the meantime, the announcer makes his way out of the ring.

When Domino turns to face the much larger opponent, he assumes the typical wrestling stance. Legs and shoulders square, upper body leans forward slightly, hands to the sides a little and fingers splayed at the ready for a grapple. When the bell tolls for the match to begin though, Domino is suddenly diving towards Birdie to attempt sliding between his legs, aiming a push-kick for the man's backside. Not terribly dignified, but this Birdie fella's pretty huge. May as well try to make an advantage out of that.

COMBATSYS: Birdie fails to interrupt Light Kick from Drake with Medium Kick.

Birdie watches as Domino takes a stance, ready to grapple. Birdie's also standing like that. But then he comes, and Birdie, well, he's just not damn ready for it. He was waiting for a grapple, and instead, Domino jolted forward and between his legs. Legs that rose and came down like tree stumps, only to unsuccessfully catch the mouse that managed to get through.

The man does in fact skid through unharmed, the behemoth sized legs coming down and causing the canvas to bounce. Meanwhile, Birdie feels a shark pain in his back before he topples over, going down to his knees, teeth clenches. "Ugh." He grunts as he already begins to rise.

The initial hit gets a good response from the audience, rather enjoying the novelty of an adjusted style to compensate for such a glaring size difference. The match is off to a fast start, it looks like.

With Birdie on his knees, Domino kips nimbly back up to his feet and closes in on Birdie's back. His right arm goes to hook around Birdie's throat, while his left arm hooks under Birdie's left arm to cinch on a sleeper hold. Hopefully this'll be enough to keep the large man grounded for a while and wear him out. Not likely, Domino figures, but one can hope, and he gives it his all.

COMBATSYS: Birdie fails to interrupt Fast Throw from Drake with Quick Throw.

Birdie's size can also be used against him, as Drake finds out. The right arm that hooks Birdie's throat catches tightly, the other arm keeping Birdie tightly secured. His size makes it harder to do things he would like. Reaching out with the large arms, Birdie tries to reverse it, using his own strength to try to pull the man up, and over him towards the mat.

Instead, Birdie just strains himself, falling a bit forward on the canvas, teeth clenched. "Haha. Nice bloke. Nice."

Despite growling at the Brit for the sake of the audience and showmanship, Domino murmers in a, "Thanks." Well, this is a pleasantly genial match.

Of course, to the audience? It looks like Domino is just strangling the larger man. But wow, is that ever something. The guy's huge! Thus, the crowd is getting more and more into the action, waiting to see if Birdie can reverse his situation or if this is it!

The ref moves in to ensure Domino isn't doing anything illegal to Birdie, and to ensure the big guy isn't passing out or trying to submit. And after a few seconds, Domino tries to push the hold a bit further. His left knee sets to Birdie's midback, and he attempts to bear him down against the mat on his front. Using his knee against his back as leverage, he begins pulling upwards on the hold, turning it into a modified camel clutch.

COMBATSYS: Birdie fails to interrupt Medium Throw from Drake with Bull Spike.

Well, Birdie's sort of strained himself now! Wuh-oh! As Birdie's put into the lock even farther, Birdie tries to gouge backwards with his hair piece, trying to get at the man on his back. Unfortunately this only makes the knee bite into him worse. Rearing up in pain, Birdie tries to work through it, but finds no solace.

Ripping backwards to try to break the hold, Birdie's looking to be a quite beat by now. There's no way he can make this up, right?

Probably not.

The audience is edging more to the edge of their collectively metaphorical seat, cheering on the carnage. Who would've thought Domino could lock in a submission hold and sustain it this long on a guy this huge? Half the audience is waiting to see how the larger man breaks free, though, fully expecting it at any moment now.

Meanwhile in the ring, the ref drops down to his knees to keep close vigil on Birdie in case he taps out. Domino sustains the hold for a few seconds longer, amethyst eyes narrowed on his struggling opponent.. and he decides to try going for broke. It could totally ruin him, or it could really mess up his opponent. Either way, it's worth a shot while he's in control of the match.

So it is that Domino attempts something risky. He releases the hold on Birdie's arm and twists over to mount atop his lower back, facing his legs. The arms then go to switch out - left arm hooking backwards around Birdie's neck, and he tries to hook Birdie's left leg under his right arm. The end result sees Domino leaning back and trying to pull Birdie into a ball backwards, foot and head stretching together, if not a little beyond.

COMBATSYS: Birdie interrupts Strong Throw from Drake with Murderer Chain.

Birdie's going to get something working sooner or later. And this is where it started working. At least once.

This is where Birdie breaks free. As the man mounts his lower back, and all the legs and arms are placed, a heavy link chain seems to find itself round Domino's neck. But Birdie has to break the man free yet. And he does manage to, straightening up even though it stings a great deal.

"Hahaha! Well, I'm certainly enjoying myself, bloke!" Birdie calls as he heaves up the chain, bringing the smaller man and the links high into the air...

And then RIGHT into the mat, spiralling down towards the canvas in a hurried manner.

All's going well for Domino. It seems he's home free! But yeah, those arms? They're not restricted at all. Likely a flaw in plan, there. The next thing the smaller wrestler knows is that there's a chain around his neck. "Hrrk!" And he's being lifted up. Well.. that's not good at all, is it? And where did that chain come from? Is he.. is he using bling against him?! This can't be legal!

The audience is, of course, cheering anyway. They absolutely love carnage, and seeing the big guy finally break free means there'll be more to the match than chained submission holds. Though the ref steps in to ruin Birdie's fun.

...

...

Taking in Birdie's considerable size and obvious strength, he thinks better of it and slinks back a few steps.

This leaves Domino to just slam down HARD against the mat, jolting it with a wince. He tumbles over onto his front, and it's a couple seconds before he gets back up to his full height. That.. hurt.

But once back on his feet, he dashes in towards the giant again. Left hand makes a grab for Birdie's vest, right hand for the waist of his pants. His left knee shoots up to attempt striking him in the midsection, and if successful, he leads through by bridging his back and suplexing the huge wrestler behind him onto his back.

COMBATSYS: Drake successfully hits Birdie with Combo Throw.

Drake            0/-------/-======|=======\-------\0           Birdie

The knee shoots up right into Birdie's midsection, striking him right into his chest. It stings, like one would imagine, but Birdie's not going to try to finish it right and proper. Instead, Birdie just gets slammed by the suplex. Like they say, the bigger they are, the harder they fall. This is very true for Birdie. Very true indeed.

So indead, Birdie goes right down. But when he gets up. He doesn't just spring off. It's beginning to ware on him. So instead, he tries to do the very best thing he knows. Play dirty.

Exploding forward like a bulldog off the ground, he lurches for the chest of Drake, attempting to ram into him with his very follicles and cut into Domino's chest. Attempting to run him against the post, he'll fire off punch after punch after punch, aiming to pummel the man, and almost nail him against the post with his fists.

Which would be kind of hard to do, seeing as Birdie has huge fists.

Birdie doesn't care about no referee's anyways as well. They might be there, sure. But he's always been a cheater. Always will be. It's just his lifestyle.

COMBATSYS: Drake counters The Birdie from Birdie with Solar Eclipse.

The entirety of the crowd is on their feet at this point. The match has really taken up a high speed! And the power of that chain-slam.. despite the fact that it would be considered illegal. But now the suplex, which was pretty surprising by itself by merit of small vs large.

Domino rolls over and gets to his feet, assuming wrestling stance again and considering closing in and trying to cinch on another submission hold. But before he can even really decide on doing that, Birdie's up on his feet again, and rushing him. Domino's finely-tuned reflexes kick in, and he weaves down towards the mat a little to evade the initial ram. But in the meantime, his right arm hooks between Birdie's legs, and his left arm hooks over Birdie's right shoulder. Using the high momentum Birdie is backing up, Domino raises to his full height and twists over. The momentum comes to a rattling halt when Birdie is driven down against the mat on his back, and Domino lands stomach-across-stomach in a powerslam atop him.

From there, Domino's right arm hooks Birdie's left leg and his left arm sets over the man's chest to hopefully hold him down for the pin. The ref of course moves in quickly and drops to the mat to begin a count...

The multiple hooks and rigs that gets Birdie up takes him down. Birdie comes down like a pile of bricks. It all comes to a helicopter, finally ending in a power slam atop the behemoth of a man's chest. Birdie's taken a fall and hasn't really got and good hits on. The choking on his eg and his arm seems to not help either. Birdie's really getting out of it.

Brutally beat and still surviving, Birdie literally heaves himself up from the ground, like a behemoth rising from the depths of the shallow water, coming across after his body being mangled in many different positions.

No finesse is involved. Instead, just a thick punch sent hurtling towards the face of Domino, trying to knock him off and towards the side. Birdie's none too happy.

COMBATSYS: Drake dodges Birdie's Fierce Punch.

Drake            0/-------/=======|======-\-------\0           Birdie

The audience is going wild at this point. Does Domino actually have Birdie pinned? Could this be it!? ...The count is halted before it can even start, Birdie heaving himself up to break the pin. The referee scurries back, and Domino glares down at his opponent. Not that he particularly dislikes this guy or anything - heck, he seems a pleasant enough sort - but the audience likes to see tension.

Next thing he knows, a fist is searing towards his face. Domino's eyes widen, and he quickly pulls back in time to evade it. Frigging huge fists.

But the idea to keep the pressure on Birdie while he's down does occur to Domino. He could actually win this! ..Err, not that he had any doubts, that is. He raises to his feet quickly and hops over the downed man to rush to the nearest set of ropes. He then hops again, landing his feet on the bottom rope and springing backwards in a rather miniature moonsault. Body twists over in a smooth backflip, arms and legs splayed to ideally impact Birdie's torso with firm six-packed abs.

COMBATSYS: Drake successfully hits Birdie with Fast Throw.

As Birdie's sitting there on his butt, but here comes a flying Drake! Well, Domino! Coming down on Birdie hard, Birdie grits his teeth. He gets hit with it firmly, and goes for another 'thing' he could have done.

This involve literally barreling upward in a frenzy, controlled more by sheer want then anything else, to attempt to catch the wrestler on his 'horn', and gore him right proper.

If he manages to do this, headbutts. Many of them. And then, finally, throwing him out of the ring without a second though. Birdie's now more of a rapid animal, instead of being a wrestler or a brawler. He's just /there/.

COMBATSYS: Birdie successfully hits Drake with Bull Revenger.

The audience is fully expecting yet another pin attempt... but Birdie is acting much too quickly. Domino has no time to react to the initial hit, knocking him rather breathless. The next set of hits crashes squarely against him, each one getting a yelp from the agile wrestler. And each one is increasingly more painful than the last. Some things he's endured, but this has to be one of -the- most painful. And the audience? They're cheering like mad. They love this sort'a stuff. Darned traitors, turning on Domino.

And finally, the male model is sent hurtling outside the ring, landing and tumbling a little ways up the ramp. He lies limp for a few seconds, and the ref hangs near the ring's edge to begin the count-out. By the fifth count, Domino is pushing himself wobbly back up to his feet, looking very much beaten and worn down. Teeth grit, amethyst eyes narrow, and he rushes for the ring again. Glutton for punishment? Or too determined to win? Either way, he rolls under the bottom rope to enter the ring again. And this time, he leaps for Birdie to attempt grabbing him by the shoulders and yanking him over...

COMBATSYS: Drake successfully hits Birdie with Total Eclipse.

Once forced down, Domino locks Birdie's neck between his legs. His arms then hook around the large man's midsection, and - putting on a show of strength previously undisplayed - hoists Birdie into the air upside-down, in piledriver position. This alone gets a pop from the crowd, those loyal Domino fans knowing full well what's probably coming.

And with Birdie suspended like so, Domino begins the first phase of his Total Eclipse. His arms suddenly tighten as much as possible to begin an inverted bearhug, crushing his larger foe with as much excruciating force as he can manage. This lasts several long seconds, wrists, locked fists, and elbows all digging into the man's torso...

...Before phase two begins. Keeping the pressure on Birdie's midsection, Domino suddenly springs high into the air. As he ascends, he begins to flip with his prey, rapidly gaining momentum. By the descent, the speed has blurred the two wrestlers into an opaque swirl of motion. The full kinetic energy, along with their combined bodyweights, comes crashing down against Birdie's head at the completion of the piledriver, the ring momentarily caving inwards from the impact.

Fueled on by the roaring audience, Domino tries to shove Birdie over to flop across his torso again for the pin.

Birdie eats the next one! Oh no! All the piledrivers and bearhugs in the world couldn't save him now! Instead, Birdie just have to deal with it. And then, the man comes crashing down against Birdie's head?!

Birdie ain't gonna like that man!

Which is why, after being beaten down multiple times into the ring, Birdie just does the only thing he knows how to do. And that's literally work through the pain, going up against Domino as he's flipping about, attempting to latch a heavy chain link on him.

And then literally launch him towards the side of the ring, ending in a roll! "Urgh..." Birdie coughs as he falls towards the canvas. He's down! Hit or miss.

COMBATSYS: Birdie can no longer fight.

Spin-spin-spin-spin-spin~

Chain, omg.

The spinning is just too rapid and seamless to hook with a chain. It was a solid attempt, though.

After the piledriver is delivered and Birdie is rolled over, Domino has dropped across the man's chest. His left arm sets over his left bicep, and his right arm just balances him as best he can in the event of a struggle. It's all the energy he has left to do, really. Hefting a lug like that is one thing. Leaping through the air with him? So there he lays, waiting for the pin, and silently praying Birdie doesn't get back up.

The ref doesn't make him wait long, though. He's dropped beside the two wrestlers, and a gloved hand lifts, ready to strike the mat and count off the pin.

Once!

Twice!

Three times!

The ref gets to his feet and signals outside the ring.

*DING* *DING* *DING*

Domino pulls himself off of Birdie and raises to his feet, wobbling about mildly. The ref grabs his right wrist and pulls it triumphantly into the air, and Domino smiles broadly, albeit weakly out to the roaring audience. When the ref releases his wrist, Domino simply raises his left arm along with the right one still in the air.

"Laaadiiees aaand gentlemeeen!," booms the voice of the hidden announcer guy. "Winner of tonight's match by pinfall! Domino!"

And the slender wrestler makes his way to the closest turnbuckle with a camera and climbs to its middle rope. He then thrusts his right fist into the air again, beaming out at the audience - and particularly, the camera. Left hand sets to his hip, and the right hand whisks through his sweat-slicked bangs, flashing the camera a roguish smile. Such is Domino's trademark victory pose.

Meanwhile, the ref checks to make sure Birdie isn't injured or anything.
