Description: This time, on Great Teacher Katana, Katana finds a soul member in an unlikely place! But she just can't stand teachers! Would it be his job, or her that he gives up? Or will he get a little help from his students to put him back into the eye of the one he truly feels for! THIS TIME ON GTK! ( Katana Vs Soma - FIGHTAN )
The HEART AND SOUL of the Metro City ... is elsewhere. The Financial district is not one for weak hearts, as fortune is made and lost within the blink of an eye! And much like that, sometimes things happen which cause it as well.
That's about when something VERY UNUSUAL appears over the horizon. There's a bunch of gang thugs hanging onto a Red Firetruck that was stolen a while ago from the Southtowns when a barfight broke out into a fire due to the smokes of someone that Katana had no idea about. He still needed the truck!
Standing on top of the FireTruck, Katana positions himself, wind whipping against his body and his mask, he body standing firm and strong against all that would dare to stop him! And the truck just HAPPENS to stop half on half off on the sidewalk nearby the U.S. Stock exchange.
Heck, the trucks HALFWAY IN.
"AHAHAHAH!" Katana laughs with his belief he has won, once again, and kicks open the door, yelling to the various rich members inside. "All of you .. I will take what fortunes you will have in the name of Mad Gear! For what they city has caused Mad Gear to lose, it will give back! By the spirits of my Ancestors, I will not let one leave unless they hand over all they have!" His body blocks the way, being so beefy. And his weaponry helps.
Looks like there's some CRIME going on!
It's for the best that 'agents of Jinchuu' can get on and off the Suiryuu at various ports of call, or it's very likely that even Soma's patience would be tested to the point that he would just open fire on random individuals to relieve stress. With lots of leads and very little in the way of hard facts, the ICPO agent disembarked and promptly spent some time catching up on paperwork and stopping by a few of the larger Interpol installations to do some background work.
One such stop was at the ICPO office attached to United Nations HQ in Metro City, where the Special Crimes Directorate has one of the more extensive databases of information and arrest records. Having spent most of the morning in meeting rooms and computer labs, he very badly needed to get out, and hailing a cab, headed to the southern end of the city to enjoy a walk along the harbor and maybe some lunch. The trip, however, was halted near Wall Street by practically impassible traffic even by Metro City standards... and the sound of sirens. Paying his cabbie, Soma proceeded on foot to find a police blockade near the fire exchange.
It just ruins his day.
Sneaking past Metro's Finest, the undercover detective draws his gun and heads in through a second floor fire escape, heading toward the center room at a running crouch and blinking in surprise when he sees who's making the demands. Of course, surprise means his guard is down... and the dark black clothing he wears probably makes him very noticeable against the white marble of this venerable institution's walls...\
It doesn't take long for Katana to notice, even by his standards, the large flashing target of something not being right! There's something really dark, black, and up high unlike the rest of the people. And he was rushing in rather fast, too, after something. Well...
LOOKS LIKE TODAY HE FOUND SOMETHING MORE!
The Shogun points a jitte upwards towards Soma, angling it a bit! "You! Up there, the man! You stop as well! This exchange is under Mad Gear control until all the money of those inside here is put into the sacks right over here!" He makes a motion towards the wall of gang members.. and as the man wouldn't get in close, it looks like Metro Cities worst is going to do it .. THE HARD WAY.
"If you refuse.. I will have to show you the wrath of the Shogun!" And that's when he begins to charge throw the lines, sandals hitting marble, people who don't get out of the way being bulldozed to the sides. But Katana .. does not CARE. He will do what is needed.
And then straightening up nearby the black clothing wearing man, Katana is .. huge. "Now .. when you look upon me .. will you listen now? MAD GEAR DEMANDS you to lay down your weaponry!" His jitte raise, one pointing, while a single leg is raised. He's posing .. HE MUST MEAN IT!
He was actually so focused he didn't recognize the fire truck. That IS interesting. But Katana himself is pretty damned famous; anyone with a career in law enforcement knows him, the Mad Gear leader being a bit of a minor celebrity on sheer tenacity alone. Lesser crime bosses would have crumbled under the strain, but not Katana.
He also drove a truck into the Suiryuu, and that interests Soma. A lot. Plus he has at least an associate's degree in wire-fu if that crowd leap is any indicator.
Interesting.
Moving slowly, the detective bends down at the knee and slowly places his gun on the floor and kicks it away. After all, he only needs to lay down the weapons Katana knows about. And his expression is nicely calm, almost amused. "A fire truck, huh... unconventional, but of course, I guess that's to be expected from the new leader of Mad Gear..."
Actually it's more like he saw it in Japanese culture and has made attempts to re-enact it. Don't put it past Katana to do stupid things and achieve them as best he can. Because well, heck, he's tried to duplicate weirder.
"Yes.. such will be necessary until I am able to reclaim what is mine! But for now, they will have it. But I won't let them get away with it. The Shogun is not one to be toyed with!" Katana yells out, even if Soma is nearby, and as he puts down the gun and kicks it away, Katana picks it up on the jitte, twirls it around, and then tosses it towards his gang members. "Much better... now you finally understand!"
Turning a bit, Katana looks back to Soma. "I will take the money of all these people, and you, and then Mad Gear will be able to buy anything it will have every wanted .. at that point, we could have a fleet of trucks, or one that is so large it rivals this building!" Seriously. GAS. GUZZLER.
Katana's frame then turns back, under strain, to face Soma. "And no one will stop me. Now that I have told you as well, there is nothing any one can do! For my intent has been burned into the star above, and the spirits have recorded it!" He raises a single hand with a jitte in it. "And that is the power of the Japanese!"
Although his face is placid as he listens to Katana's manifesto, you can almost see the cartoon bubble over his head with a "[screw] + [ball]" rebus in it, ala Looney Tunes. But this burglary fits the profile, and actually is part of the reason that some criminologists think Mad Gear continues to succeed: it's willing to try completely absurd, never-heard-of plans. Unpredictable and unorthodox.
Seeing Katana in action, Soma believes every word of it. This group is probably more effective and more dangerous than people think.
But the detective is amazingly hard to intimidate, since he would never have given up his gun if he didn't think he had every possibility of getting out of this situation safely. "Well... live the dream, I say." He doesn't comment on Katana's claims to Japanese 'power'... who can tell, under that mask. "But I have to tell you, you're definitely not taking my money, and if you're smart you're not taking *their* money either. In fact, you MIGHT be best to get in your fire truck and leave. I'll even forgive you for taking my gun." He certainly SOUNDS confident...
As Soma still listens though, that's all that Katana really needs to be sure of. If the guy listens, then KAtana gets through to him. At least pays attention. There's a half chance that he will listen. The other half .. well..
As Soma still looks to him and actually responds negatively to his claims, Katana backs off a step or two as Soma's confidence wrecks him .. wrecks him? I mean MOTIVATES HIM. The mask is the same emotion, but Katana is hardly the same to be said. "You ... You DARE to threaten the Shogun of Mad Gear infront of all of these people. You are confident, and I applaud you of it ..."
But then the jitte point straight at Soma as he stands ready, muscles readying, body as well, and he makes sure to prove to Soma he's not joking around. "You have much pride, citizen.. but you will see why pride alone will not save you from the Shogun of Mad Gear!" Feet on the ground, Katana begins glare at Soma while taking a wide stance, his body ready for anything.
"I will give you one more chance! Then, the Shogun's wrath will come down upon you!"

Shogun... interesting choice of title. That and the kanji on the man's chest, the shape of the mask... if he's not Japanese, he's *obsessed* with Japan. Unconventional but certainly not the weirdest criminal kink Soma's ever encountered. And in terms of crime, the Japanese yakuza are a damned effective institution... there are worse things to emulate. Still...
Reaching into his jacket, Soma tugs out an ID holder hanging around his neck and opens it. "Law requires me to say that under the authority of the Intercontinental Police Office, I am placing you under arrest for grand larceny and assault, as well as other crimes associated with the Mad Gear gang. But..." Snapping the ID holder closed and stowing it, the violet-eyed policeman gives Katana an almost beatific smile. "If I know how these things go, you're never going to come quietly so I'll spare you the Miranda."
For a moment, Katana is dumbfounded. An ID is shown to Katana that lists Soma as a Police Officer. And for some reason, things around Katana just grow MORE TENSE. The mask stops his eyes, which are narrowing, from being seen. "You ... a police officer?" Katana repeats, a bit like a question. But then .. the question .. IS LOST. "You, a Law upholder .. will not stop the power of the Samurai Shogun of Mad Gear." Yes, he added another title on. "I will not need to hear your words, for it will not be the law that triumphs .. Mad Gear is above the law!" For they will prevail, yadda yadda.
And that's where body motion makes up for his words. While Soma's not recognizable as a police officer, really, that's probably the whole point, Katana is blatantly obvious. And his acts are too. Sliding forwards, his arms, holding the jitte, fly forwards towards Soma with a thrust, attempting to catch the man with the ends of both blades, and carve into him.
For being so meaty and so large, Katana sure can move fast at times, despite the sandals and other parts .. but watch for the armor!

Now he's a Samurai Shogun? Is this psychological warfare? Whether it is or not is actually pretty immaterial, since the ICPO agent attempts to dive backwards out of the way of the sudden strike and mistimes his evasion by a significant degree. The two authentically Japanese weapons bite into his stomach, expelling air from Soma in one loud, sharp breath followed by a hiss of pain; he slides to a stop in a crouch, glancing at Katana. He's trying to be blithe, but the fact of the matter is that stung like a son of a bitch.
"Can I take this to mean you're resisting arrest?" Soma says carefully as he stands up. The man's a meat mountain... trying to attack him head on is probably pretty stupid. Time to use some tactics. His hand snaps into his jacket and comes out holding a weapon of his own: a bright silver dagger of unusual shape. "'Cause that's also against the law." Whipping his arm around, the blade of the dagger suddenly detaches, a length of wire lashing out like a whip to wrap Katana around the legs and then trip him, hard.

It's clearly not psychological warfare, but instead it's just Katana .. being Katana. And as the agent tries to dive back, it doesn't seem to work .. Katana's blades slicing into his stomach and causes him to slide to a stop. Katana meanwhile pulls back, blades perhaps a bit bloody. But in the same way, he would not yet just leave himself open! "I will never follow the law if it means betraying the Mad Gear Gang! I will do whatever it takes to achieve victory for them!" And that's about when Soma slams dagger, blade detaching and whipping towards Katana.
Things don't go so well again.
Grasping at the air, Katana slams his hands, palms first, along the flat part of the blade, and grabs for the wire, pulling Soma forwards and then grasping his arm to whip it about, wrenching it, slamming him against the ground and then tossing him up against the side of a wall or some such.
"You are a warrior .. but a warrior of law will never best me!" He holds the jitte up once more, having let go of the whip dagger. "So come! But know that Japanese will is far beyond anything you may have!" His massive body .. is apparently faster than many may guess at first.
This is not going as planned.
Bits of plaster crumble down around Soma as he slides off the wall, Katana having driven him into it... much harder than one might think. The detached blade of the wire-dagger and the length of wire lay slack on the ground as the ICPO agent collects himself. He seems to be running into these sorts of situations a lot lately, where his inadequate fighting skills are of very little use against... well, nearly anyone.
But there's no room for doubt on the job, and his face immediately hardens. "This isn't about the law. I'm only an officer of the law because it's the best way to enforce justice. And justice is something far stronger than troublemaking miscreants... like you!" Bursting forward by kicking off the wall, Soma whips his arm around and snaps the blade of the dagger back into place, the length glowing with silver-black light as he charges it with Psycho Power, then lunges forward, looking to drive the blade into a nerve point in Katana's side. The blow itself doesn't cause a terrible lot of damage -- it doesn't cut deep -- but the sudden infusion of psychic energy into Katana's nervous system may be another thing entirely.

As Katana attempts to move into the dagger as it rushes into him, and he believes he'll be able to cut through Soma's strike and pull with him, to take care of him!
It doesn't really work in the end.
As the blade slams hom, the sudden infusion of psychic energy catches Katana off guard, ripping into him and causing him to shudder from the assault, his body not only absorbing, but over absorbing it. It's not a good moment to be the Shogun! "Ahhghh....!" Katana speaks as he collapses against the force, pulling back before Soma decides to follow up on it. "You ... wish to stop me because of it?" Katana asks, to Soma, his body taking in the psycho energy far better than if it were normal energy. He wonders why it doesn't burn as much, but in the end, he still think it's energy.
He hates the stuff.
But still... once he staggers back far enough, the jitte are raised. ".. Good..." Katana says, before he readies his stance once more. "Then I will not feel bad about fighting you, one who chooses to, rather than is forced ... This will be glorious!!" He must be high or something. And then his body just SLIDES forwards, arms and sandals seeming to glide towards Soma from the quick thrust with all his strength, first one jitte rushing towards Soma, then the other, in an attempt to cleave into the officer! "Jigokuuuuu SCRAPE! HAI!"
He's serious, even if he doesn't look it!

Soma 1/-------/=======|=====--\-------\0 Katana
Apparently Soma has something distantly in common with Kim Kaphwan: fighting for justice awakens something within him that spurs a sudden burst of... well, drive. Energy. Whatever it is that turns natural precision and skill into extraordinary movements. "An interesting way of looking at it," Soma observes, trying to stay calm. The man attacks with crushing force and Soma has only his natural speed to rely on... the odds are not in the ICPO agent's favor. So he's just going to have to work that much harder.
When the first jitte blow comes in, Soma suddenly goes on the *offensive*, lashing out with one dagger and catching Katana's weapon on the blade, muscles straining to stop the Mag Gear Shogun's forward momentum even as he suddenly snaps out his *other* arm, a second dagger dropping out of his sleeve as the detective gets the second jitte in a similar weapon lock. "But don't mistake my wanting to be here for me not having a duty to perform!"
The off-hand dagger suddenly draws back, while Soma -- still at point-blank range -- kicks off the ground, dragging the other dagger out of the lock and freeing him for just a moment... but even has he does so, a small silver glow flicks out from one hand tossed forward as he pushes back. It's a throwing spike, a harmless little item... but it's also charged with Psycho Power that explodes on cotact in a burst of silver.

As Soma's blade stops the jitte, the other locking the other, Katana goes into a sort of shock. "How .. it seems you are stronger than you had shown me! Were you holding back!?" Katana seems to ask of Soma, and the answer comes as Soma draws a dagger back and a small silver glow is caught on a throwing spike.
It slams into Katana, begins to charge and then FWABOOOOOM.
Katana's launched backwards by the explosion of silver, the Mad Gear Shogun trailing along the ground, his heavy shoulder pads and armor clanking as he is run against the floor. It certainly doesn't help him, that's for sure, but in the end .. he gets up. "Yes. You are well in your position .. but I am happy with my own! I refuse to allow myself to already be beaten when there is much still to go through!" And like the start.. Katana seems to not care about his actions, or the fact he was launched into the ground. Forcing himself up, Katana seems to make up the distance, and advantage that Soma had gained, through his brute force and the power of his will!
They call it will power. One jitte trails forth towards Soma once again, attempting to bring it towards his chest with all the strength he can muster. It's a straight forwards charge ... but at this point, getting in close is what might be the hard part! "HYAAARG! No bon kazou!"

Whatever that momentary boost was, it appears to have been just that: momentary. "I never hold back," Soma says sharply, watching the telltale explosion of silver light that lets him know that technique of his has worked. But he has other things, too... his empathic powers telling him that this is no delusion, nor psychosis, on Katana's part... it's sheer self-confidence and, perhaps more interestingly, actual *joy* at this. It's a strange mirror of the detective's own mindset on the job, and that surprises him... so much that when the attack comes toward his sternum he isn't paying as much attention as he could be. There's a meaty *SPLORCH* as the jitte pushes through to strike, and then a *clink* as Soma's neck-hanging ID brushes the weapon on the way out. One of these days Soma will realize that fighting any Blackjack person typically results in his jacket being a total loss.
However, painful as that was, it wasn't enough to completely and totally down Soma, which may be Katana's biggest mistake. Wiping a hand across his mouth, the ICPO agent shakes out his wrists and glances at Katana. "You know, I don't think you're a bad guy. I think you've got issues with where you think money should come from, but you're not a dyed-in-the-wool jerkfuck. I just wanted to say that before I got serious about all this." Didn't you just say you never hold back?
The entire argument becomes immaterial when Soma vanishes from sight.
When he reappears again, it is as he slides in an offensive crouch *past* Katana, having lashed out with both wire-daggers to hopefully wrap the whip-like wires around the Shogun's body...

...which he does. What follows is difficult to follow with the naked eye, and proves that Soma's use of Psycho Power is often more dangerous when he's augmenting his natural speed with it than when he's throwing it around like energy. Yelling in articulately, Soma hurls Katana into the air using the wires like a slingshot, and then disappears *again*, seeming to teleport to some spot right where the Shogun is flying over the stock exchange... standing on top of precarious surfaces like a ninja, catching and throwing him with the whiplike wires three times before finally summoning a glittering, double-bladed weapon of pure psychic power and batting the Mad Gear commander toward his very own fire truck, landing gracefully on top of a nearby counter in a crouch.
As Soma shakes his wrists out and takes a moment to talk to Katana, Katana looks to him. As he speaks, he listens. "I understand .. but I will fight until the end! Do your worst.. and if I still stand, then I will still fight!" And he means it. But that's when Soma is gone.
Oh crap. He's seen this before when fighting Marise. But there's no laughing .. and Soma rushes in, sliding in a crouch with both wire-daggers to wrap the whip-like wires around the Shogun's body.
The Shogun planned to fail, but hoped for the best. Ripping off part of the railing, Katana attempts to bring it between him, Soma, and the wires, to catch the wires and to pull them off and slam Soma with the edge.
But then Katana's luck sets in, and instead of getting through, the wires tangle, they tangle so much, and all Katana can do is brace himself for the oncoming pain. The Psycho Power, plus Soma hurling him into the air .. well, a little game of Katana toss is played with Soma and himself before all of the g-force, and the truck, impact onto Katana.
The truck and the psycho power combined leave Katana a nice crater in his new 'truck'.
The mighty strike wore on him, but Soma would watch as Katana pulls himself up.. surely. He's not down for the count apparently. He was still going to give more. "You .. are indeed strong. And you fight for what you believe in. Even a warrior of Japan, with such might like me, still has a challenge!" Getting to his feet, Katana's a bit wobbly. "But we will finish this now!" He moves into position, arms, legs, body.. "HIYAH! If you best me .. the money will be theirs! .. As well as your gun will be yours!" Not that he NEEDS it mind you.
"The money's *already* theirs," Soma explains patiently. "That's the point. It's theirs so you're not supposed to take it." There's maybe the *tiniest* hint of the sound of a parent talking to a child in that explanation, as if it's something Katana is supposed to know and Soma's simply reminding him of it. Nothing about Katana says 'criminal mastermind' to the undercover detective, which is in fact why he's been a little off-beam this entire fight. Criminology is all about patterns, after all, and Katana doesn't follow any. Thus proper plans of attack -- physically and psychologically -- aren't working.
Okay. So what do you do with a crazy person? Not that Katana is insane, but he's as close as can be without going over </bobbarker>. Counting on his empathic power and his intuition to guide him, Soma does the only thing he can think of.
He plays along.
"Very well!" the ICPO agent says, pointing forward with one dagger in response, suddenly aware of a distant memory, his exhibition fight with the 'tokusatsu fighter', Skullomania. This is just the same thing only with live ammo, right? "I will accept your challenge. En garde!" Then he's dashing at Katana, making a straightforward crescent slash through the air with the dagger. Probably not enough to even make the beefy Shogun flinch, but it's what's expected in this scenario, isn't it?

Soma 0/-------/-----==|=======\=------\1 Katana
As Soma explains it again, Katana may actually get it this time! And yes, Katana is no criminal mastermind. Nor does he seem to be a master mind! But then, that's how Katana is. So when the ICPO agent points forwards with a dagger and then rushes forwards, a straight forwards crescent slash through the air ..
Katana .. leaps into it!?
The slash catches Katana and tosses him backwards, his body being launched from the strike, the man .. flipping in the air. Get ready Soma! "Hahaha! Yes!" Katana remarks, his body ready for it .. and then Katana flips up and over, catching himself with the jitte and slamming them into the truck as he rushes towards Soma, blades cutting at his knees and legs to trip him! .... Very odd.
Kicking back to his feet, Katana regains his standing position. "It seems .. we are not done yet! Let us continue to fight! And then perhaps their money .. will stay theirs!" He got it right! ... Took him long enough.
The Mad Gear Shogun is beaten, a bit drained psycholy, and weak in the knees .. but he yet fights!
Katana isn't the only one a little worn down here, however. Soma is not built for taking punishment; this isn't to say he's bad it compared to other fighters, but he has the problem of having no outstanding strengths in addition to no outstanding weaknesses, a burden that shows itself when facing people like Katana, individuals capable of lashing out with severe, crushing force. Even unorthodox and quick strikes such as Katana's unusual jitte technique hit Soma like a ton of bricks. Case in point: the detective tumbles down off the truck and onto the floor in a whirl of black, grey, and even a little red. It takes a second before he can get back to his feet.
"You know..." he mutters, shaking out his head to hopefully clear some of the spots and moire patterns flashing through his vision, "I'm still glad this happened. It's been a real education fighting you, believe me. However..." And here, Soma pushes his body as far as it will go, dredging up the last of his strength to hopefully put Katana on the mat once and for all. His right hand whips out, wire-dagger blade flowing along its path and out toward the Shogun, looking to wrap around whatever extending body part is handy... and if he can get the grip, Soma suddenly spins and drags Katana through the air, slamming him back down onto the truck once more. "...this ends now!"
A part of him is cringing at the dialogue. But if it works, well... you can't argue with results.

As Soma wishes it to end now, Katana agrees. "Yes.. it will end!" As Soma pushes as far as he will go, the wire dagger flowing upwards at the Shogun and wrapping around his hand, Soma spins Katana through the air.. although Katana moves WITH half the strike. "MEIDO!"
The blade stops infront of Soma's face. "... The spirits truly are not pleased." That's when the movement actually spins Katana as the wire whips him through the air, spinning him against the truck and slamming him multiple times, striking mask head on.. and then causes Katana to crash to the ground.
Well. The Truck. But Soma might see the impossible happen. AGAIN.
An arm shakily pushes one half of the huge armored man up. "I .. don't think so... it has been a good fight.." NGHHH. He pushes with all his strength, body trembling as he forces himself up. "But I refuse to let it end .. before my strength leaves me!" He stands, shakily, up.
You may ask what it will take to take him down!
Alot.
Good lord, what is the man made of? Mental tenacity is one thing, and that Katana has more than an abundance of that any observer can see. But *physical* tenacity is not as much a matter of mind over body as one might think. Muscles and tissues usually have their limits. Case in point: Soma's. He's already been smacked pretty hard by Katana's weapons and he's been throwing out one attack after another, including some of his most complex and exhausting personal techniques. He's not a marathon runner; the collapsed dagger is pressed against the detective's knee as he hunches forward catching his breath.
"Of course you got back up," he mutters, groaning a little. He keeps himself from adding: why can't you just stay down like a good boy. Because Soma himself wouldn't, and he and Katana are more alike than he'd care to admit... but enough that he recognizes the similarity to some level.
"You're pretty damn tough," Soma admits. It's true, so why hide it? Okay. Only so much you can do here... and perhaps if he keeps up the drama the Shogun will drop his guard... or slam Soma into the nearest flat object, much as he did earlier. "Then! One last pass, samurai... let's go." Setting his foot, Soma suddenly charges Katana, dagger whirling through the air as he does his best Charging Insane Warrior impression; when he gets near to the Shogun he just thrusts forward, a nice big telegraphed stab to the chest just like Katana gave him before.

As Soma groans and complains about him 'getting up'. Well, there's another thing that Soma will have to worry about! "Because I wouldn't ever give up .. never! Not until I have fallen, not until my muscles refuse to move .. then I will fall! But not now." Katana responds, staggering forwards as Soma says one last pass. "Yes .. One final strike!" Katana agrees with this alot.
ANd that's when a dagger rishes through the air, whirling forwards.. and then thrusts forwards.
The strike would hit Katana.. but the loss of force would be due to the jitte sticking out of Soma's immediate clothing, and against him, in his shoulders a bit. "And so it ends! DAIKYOUUUUUU!" Katana yells, rushing the man against the ground, charging against the cement and the pavement for a bit, letting friction do the majority of the force. "BURNIIIIING!"
He would heft the body of the man into the air, tossing him up and away. "You have fought well ... and you will keep what you have lost! It will be returned.. I have not had such a fight in too long, warrior!"
And Katana stands yet.
Even before he's done with his... unorthodox but highly effective attack, Katana can probably feel the fight drain out of Soma. There are limits, and while the mind may be willing the flesh is weak. However, the Mad Gear shogun makes the minor problem of not knocking Soma out completely, AND throwing him away without making some sort of restraining movement. Because even at the cusp of unconsciousness, as he is now, the detective is capable of making one last, final strike to even this up... and if he's got to sacrifice himself to do it, well, so be it.
Flying through the air after Katana's strike, there's a light *THWP* sound as Soma tumbles from his fall, the damage already done... and extends his feet, kicking off a pillar in the Stock Exchange floor and spiralling back through the air toward the Mad Gear boss, 'daggers' in hand... but these are knives of pure Psycho Power, rather than real blades. They don't cut flesh, but they're capable of putting on the hurt just the same. "I believe... the word is... BANZAI?!" Soma really does pronounce that last one like a question.
Of course, how Soma lands -- in a tumbling crouch, or in a heap on the ground from some counterattack -- is entirely up to Katana.

As Soma tumbles to the ground, Katana is surprised when he sees Soma kicks against the pillar and towards Katana, daggers in hand .. of PURE PSYCHO POWER. Katana doesn't seem to flinch, looking on towards Soma. "It is .. BUT I WILL RETURN YOUR CHALLENGE!" As Soma rushes towards Katana, Katana rushes towards SOMA.
Jitte up, his blades pass through the other mans, launching him back.
Katana is launched away from the psycho knives as well, and crashes to the ground nearby the truck.. the money is safe, and the gun is tossed towards Soma's crumpled body. Katana's body? Is picked up, slung over one of the gang members .. and driven away!
Soma has successfully accomplished his mission. THROUGH GUTS.
